NOFX Announces Final Shows of Punk Legends’ Farewell Tour
By Daniel Kreps
Daniel Kreps
When punk legends NOFX first revealed plans for their farewell tour in September 2022, frontman Fat Mike promised, “Los Angeles will be the last place we play. It’s where we started, it’s where we’ll end.” Over two years later, the band has announced that their five-decade run will come to an end in October 2024 with a three-night stand in their native California.
Before that, however, NOFX have lined up another string of dates for their farewell tour, which was previously dubbed “40 Years, 40 Cities, 40 Songs” due to each gig’s unique 40-song setlist. However, the trek expanded overseas (including Australia and Europe) and now into 2024, with the next run of dates beginning April 6 in Fort Worth, Texas.

NOFX Final Tour
It has just been confirmed that the farewell tour of the Americans NOFX will pass through Spain next spring with two dates that will take place on May 19 and 20, 2023 at Poble Espanyol in Barcelona.
It is a reality: NOFX say goodbye to his public after 40 years of career. In May 2023, NOFX will kick off their farewell world tour in Barcelona with two concerts. Not only that: it will be the only city in the world where they will perform two nights in a row.
Two unique dates on the peninsula that will serve as a final farewell to one of the most important bands in the history of punk rock. Band that over the decades has garnered hundreds of thousands of followers in Spain and Portugal. A very important name to understand the underground in the last four decades. All this will happen exclusively throughout the peninsula in Barcelona. The capital of Catalonia has been the city chosen to kick off his farewell tour.
In addition, of these two concerts, Fat Mike and his, will only visit, in 2023, five other cities throughout Europe. At these concerts, the Californians will review four of their most anthological albums as well as a large number of great hits from their successful career. Two nights at Poble Espanyol in Barcelona. Two totally different repertoires. A total of forty songs every night.
Friday May 19 – “So long and thanks for all the shoes” + “White Trash two heads and a bean” + Greatest Hits. / SOLD OUT Saturday May 20 – “Punk In Drublic” + “Wolves in Wolves’ Clothing” + Greatest Hits. / SOLD OUT ADDED : Sunday May 21 – “Pump Up the Valuum” + “The Decline” + Greatest Hits / ticket from 28th of March
NOFX want to go big and this will be their big farewell on the peninsula. A unique opportunity that you should not miss because the NOFX race is over. What’s more, all this in an already classic place for great punk rock nights in the city: Poble Espanyol. Tickets will be available for each day as well as a limited amount of passes for those who want to access the 2 days.

Night one of NOFX’s last ever European tour perfectly illustrates why Fat Mike’s crew will be treasured forever as true punk rock rebels
Nofx launch their '40 years, 40 cities, 40 songs per day' european tour in barcelona, and remind us why they're the greatest punk band of their generation.
You can trust Louder Our experienced team has worked for some of the biggest brands in music. From testing headphones to reviewing albums, our experts aim to create reviews you can trust. Find out more about how we review.
When any band announces a final tour nowadays, we take such declarations with a mountain of salt. Black Sabbath . Kiss. Mötley Crüe . All bands who’ve rinsed the whole “final tour” concept for every last dime. Even Texan pop-punkers Bowling For Soup got in on the action back in 2013 - only to return to the live music scene in 2016. Just last week, Sum 41 declared their retirement from touring with a final run of shows planned for the not-too-distant future. I guess this is growing up. So when legendary So-Cal punk rockers NOFX declared last year that they were calling time on their acclaimed 40 year career, the news was met with a certain amount of scepticism. Presumably this was another of punk rock provocateur Fat Mike's little jokes? But no, when this writer spoke with NOFX's band leader hot off the heels of said surprise announcement, he assured me of his group’s intentions. “I need it to end,” he told me. “I’m tired of being Fat Mike on stage. There’s so many other things I want to do in life. Every show on this last tour will be completely different. I’m so excited to play them. It’s going to be really special. And we’re not doing the whole Black Sabbath/Mötley Crüe thing. On October 6, 2024 in LA, that will be the last time NOFX ever plays.”
Time will tell. But one thing remains undisputed at this stage in the game: if this is indeed the end, NOFX are going out on the highest of all highs – drug-related puns aside.
This writer has been lucky enough to have seen the band (rounded out by guitarists Eric Melvin and El Hefe and drummer Erik “Smelly” Sandin, plus touring keyboardist Karina Denike) live on countless occasions over the last 25 years. During that time, their performances have ranged from sublime to shitty. NOFX themselves would be the first to tell you that professionalism and consistency have never been high on the agenda. This, after all, is the band who called their first live album, I Heard They Suck Live . And as Fat Mike sings on the opening track to Wolves in Wolves’ Clothing , 60% , a song that’s become something of an overall mission statement for the band, “ I'm not here to entertain you, I'm here to meet my friend the Russian, the Irish, the German, the Colombian. I don't care how bad I fuck up, I care about how fucked up I get. I'm not your clown, I'm your dealer .” So imagine the crowd’s surprise when NOFX take to the stage at Poble Espanyol in Barcelona for the first of their final European shows, and we’re greeted by a well-oiled, finely tuned, actually in-tune machine. By Fat Mike’s own admission, the band have been rehearsing. As a result, they’re remarkably well prepared for the occasion. It’s evident that they care about putting on a great show, too. And there’s an overriding sense of humility, commitment and gratitude on display throughout the band’s epic two-and-a-half hour set that’s been hitherto hidden beneath a sea of self-deprecating humour and schtick.
All of that’s still here in abundance, of course. Topped up with a healthy dose of bad taste banter and politically incorrect jokes. Some things never change. Nor would we ever want them to. But NOFX are clearly intent on giving their fans nothing short of 110% tonight, and this evening’s show is by far and away the best this writer has ever seen them play. With three gigs across the weekend and different records scheduled to be performed in their entirety alongside sample selections from the greatest songs ever written (by them), tonight’s crowd is treated to a haphazard hybrid of two all-time classic albums - So Long & Thanks For All The Shoes and White Trash, Two Heebs and a Bean - and an additional assortment of nuggets from one of the best back catalogues in punk rock. The setlist alone is enough to lay claim to the fact that NOFX are indeed the greatest and most important punk band of their generation, the likes of which we will never see again. And if the scenes from tonight’s sold out crowd confirm anything, it’s that this band mean an awful lot to an awful lot of people. There’s going to be a great big NOFX-shaped hole in our hearts once they’re gone. So long, fellas. And thanks for all the shoes.

NOFX Announce 2024 North American Tour, Including Final Shows Ever

NOFX have announced the final shows of their farewell tour, which will see them sign off for good after a 40-year career.
The Los Angeles punk band have added 15 additional dates to their ‘40 Years, 40 Cities, 40 Songs Per Day Tour’, and they will end the run with three hometown shows in October 2024.

Speaking about playing their final dates, frontman Fat Mike has said: “We’ve played over 2000 shows in 33 countries, in more than 300 cities and darn it…we’re a bit tired. One thing I know in my heart…this is going to be the most emotional, heartbreaking, greatest tour of our career. I’ve never been so excited and at the same time terrified. Mostly excited…”
Last September, Fat Mike told fans on Instagram that the band would be breaking up in 2023, having formed in 1983. “It’s been an amazing run,” he wrote at the time.
In January, the band announced a string of US and UK dates , which took place between April and September.

“This is not a final tour like Mötley Crüe or Black Sabbath ,” Fat Mike said in a statement at the time. “These are the very last shows NOFX will ever be playing. We are gonna play with all our hearts…With all our joy…And then we are done. We are done done.”
Last December, NOFX guitarist Eric Melvin suggested the band could still release new music after retiring from touring . “He still wants to record and release records as NOFX,” Melvin said, referring to Fat Mike. “So we’ll see how that works because they kind of go hand-in-hand, but they don’t have to.”
NOFX released their latest album ‘Double Album’ in December 2022, while Fat Mike launched a new band called Codefendants , which he described as a “genre fluid musical collective — a cross between hip hop, new-wave, flamenco, and the Beatles”.

They are no strangers to pushing boundaries at their live shows, and their final tour will be no different. NOFX formed in Los Angeles back in 1983. They were forged in the same fiery furnaces of the L.A. hardcore scene that gave us BAD RELIGION , SUICIDAL TENDENCIES , THE GERMS and DESCENDENTS . NOFX sharpened their teeth in that tumultuous talent pool until they joined forces with Epitaph Records in 1989 and went on to release a string of crucial skate-punk albums. Their first major breakthrough came in the form of 1990's "Ribbed" , still a fan favorite, they then followed up with now-classics "White Trash, Two Heebs And A Bean" and "Punk In Drublic" , the latter selling well over a million copies. That was a wildly successful decade for NOFX as the band popularized the Warped Tour and was the flagship band for the skate/surf/snow culture of the 1990s.
NOFX 's career-long ban on doing the mainstream press and media was lifted as they sought to actively share their dissent for the Bush administration and speak out against the invasion of Iraq. And once the floodgates were open, NOFX and their "Rock Against Bush" movement were everywhere: Newsweek , Rolling Stone , New York Times , Howard Stern and network television. All that high-profile interest and hype was reflected in the success of their 2003 record "The War On Errorism" , which was the No. 1 independent record in the country at the time if its release and topped Billboard 's indie chart.
