Zoobic Safari Guide 2024: Our Experience, Tickets & Tips

We visited Zoobic Safari in Subic to get up close and personal with wildlife creatures we don’t normally see in zoos and other animal parks like Manila Ocean Park and Cebu Ocean Park . Some Zoobic Safari animals we saw and had close encounters with were bearcats, donkeys, ostriches, pythons, crocodiles, zebras, lions, and of course, tigers!

BUY ZOOBIC SAFARI TICKETS

In terms of land area, the 25-hectare Zoobic Safari is only second to the 170-hectare Cebu Safari and Adventure Park . However, Zoobic Safari is the first and only tiger safari in the Philippines, which is still bucket list-worthy in our books. In fact, our experience here gave us an incredible wildlife adventure we won’t soon forget.

Read on to know more about this huge safari park – from tickets to attractions and friendly reminders.

Zoobic Safari tickets

Zoobic Safari offers different tickets for adults and children. See Zoobic Safari price list below.

Zoobic Safari entrance fee 2024

  • ₱895 for adults
  • ₱795 for children with a height of 3 feet to 4 feet
  • Children below 3 feet are free to enter the park.
  • You will pay ₱20 on-site as a mandatory Environmental and Tourism Administrative Fee (ETAF).

Zoobic Safari opening hours

This Subic safari park is open from Monday to Sunday, 8am to 4pm . Last admission is 2pm.

Zoobic Safari address and how to get there

Zoobic Safari is located in Group I Ilanin Forest, Subic Bay Freeport Zone in Olongapo, Philippines . It is approximately three hours away from Manila. Refer to this Google map to guide you.

To reach the Zoobic Safari location, you can either drive a car or take a bus .

Drive to North Luzon Expressway, then exit in San Fernando, Pampanga. Follow the signs going to Olongapo City. Then, take the Tipo-Subic expressway going to Subic Bay Freeport Zone.

Tip: If you don’t have your own car, it would be more convenient to rent a car with a professional driver , especially when you have kids. Just like what we did, the driver picked us up from our house, waited for us to finish the whole safari tour in Zoobic, and brought us back home safely.

RENT A CAR HERE

From Metro Manila, find the nearest bus station with buses going to Olongapo terminal. The most reliable bus line is Victory Liner . It has terminals in Pasay, Caloocan, Sampaloc and Cubao and has an hourly service from 4am to 6pm. Once you reach Olongapo terminal, take a jeepney to Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA) main gate. Then, take a taxi inside SMBA going to Zoobic Safari. The regular taxi fare to Zoobic is ₱400 (one way).

Zoobic Safari attractions and our fun experience

Our entire Zoobic Safari tour lasted for about 2.5 hours and we already experienced the following main attractions:

Aetas’ Trail

The first leg of our tour was the Aetas’ Trail , where we were welcomed by a spectacular cultural performance of the Aetas, an indigenous group in Luzon and one of the earliest inhabitants of the Philippines.

Zoobic Park

Our next stop was Zoobic Park , where we saw different species of free-roaming animals including the binturong (bearcats), monkeys, donkeys, deer, ostriches, guinea pigs, and more!

Tiger Safari

Of course, we didn’t leave the park without experiencing the Tiger Safari . We boarded an enclosed tram where the caretaker fed the tigers with raw chicken.

There is an additional fee of ₱200 if you want to see the feeding action first-hand. We were scared at first as the tiger devoured the meat but it was a sight to behold.

Tiger and Lion Close Encounter

Tiger and Lion Close Encounter

If you’re claustrophobic and don’t like riding the enclosed tram, you can still observe the lions and tigers at a close distance in their resting spaces.

Zoobic Safari crocodiles

Huwag mag-loco-loco dito! (Don’t be a fool here!) There are over a hundred crocs awaiting your every move! You can cross a steel-grated walkway with these ferocious creatures below you. You can also buy a quarter chicken for ₱50 to be placed on a fishing pole to feed them. We were too scared to commit a wrong move so we didn’t dare to do any of this.

Serpentarium

Serpentarium

Shhhhhh.. These cold-blooded creatures can’t be bothered. Here, you’ll observe different kinds of snakes like pythons and boa constrictors, and other reptiles such as monitor lizards, iguanas, and turtles.

Animal Show

Since we visited on a weekend, we were able to watch the live animal show where animals showcase their talents and skills. Take note of the animal show schedule which is only on weekends at 10.30am and 1.30pm.

These are just some of the many attractions that await you in here. You may visit their official website to see the complete list of attractions and amenities.

Friendly reminders

  • As you’ll mostly be exploring the outdoors, it’s best to wear comfortable clothes and a good pair of walking shoes.
  • While you can buy food and drinks inside the park, you may want to bring your own drinking water safely contained in a water container or tumbler.
  • Follow the health and safety protocols. There will be an orientation before you start your tour so listen carefully to the staff.
  • Observe proper decorum and cleanliness at all times. Avoid making loud noises that could disturb the animals and their habitats.
  • Do not attempt to feed the animals unless you sign up for feeding activities.
  • Photos and videos are allowed so long as you do not disturb the animals and other visitors.

Information about Zoobic Safari

Zoobic safari.

Zoobic Safari is situated in the middle of the forest of Subic Bay Freeport Zone and is the only tiger safari in the Philippines. Here, guests are given a rare chance to meet tigers up close while promoting awareness and concern for their species. It is the closest thing to an actual jungle safari in the country, and it will take approximately three hours to cover all its attractions.

Inside Zoobic Safari is the Tiger Safari, where guests can ride a safari jeep that will enter a closed fence structure and see live tigers roaming around the area. In there, these big cats are free to get close to the jeep, sniff at it, or even tackle it, with the passengers safe inside.

Other attractions include a hanging bridge, a forest trail, a petting zoo, an animal observation area, and an animal sanctuary where wild boars, potbelly pigs, guinea fowls, and wild ostriches run free. Those who seek an adrenaline-pumping attraction must visit the Croco Loco, a steel-grated walkway with a pit of 200 crocodiles directly below it, and the Serpentarium, where snakes, lizards, iguanas, and other reptiles are available for viewing.

Guests can also go on a Night Safari, where they are toured around the exotic sanctuary in the dark, making the safari ride more thrilling.

Tickets and entry

Zoobic Safari is open daily from 8 AM to 4 PM, with an entrance fee of PHP 695 per adult and kids taller than four feet. Children three to four feet tall can go in for PHP 595, while kids below three feet can enter for free.

Best time to visit

Most of the attractions on the property are outdoors, so it would be best to visit Zoobic Safari during the dry months of November to May. If you want to watch shows here, go on a weekend when they have a parade and a show at 10:30 AM and 1:30 PM.

Zoobic Safari (Subic, Zambales)

subic zambales zoobic safari

Want to have a roaring good time? Perhaps the closest you can get to a ferocious feline in the Philippines is at the Zoobic Safari —the one and only tiger safari in the country. It is located at Subic Bay Freeport Zone in Zambales province, a former US naval base. When the Americans left in 1993, the Philippine Government converted the area into a Freeport Zone that has now become an industrial estate with an international airport, shopping malls, hotels, techno parks, recreational facilities and several eco-tourism attractions.

subic zambales zoobic safari

The Zoobic Safari is a 37-acre nature compound that has about 500 animals belonging to 50 different species. These include ostriches, guinea fowls, pot bellied pigs, various deer species and wild boars. Visitors can see all of these animals through a ride. If visitors opt to walk through the zoo, they can view animals at close range which include camels, an otter, a bear cat, deer, peacocks, cloud rats, civet cats, as well as cassowaries.

subic zambales zoobic safari

There are several sections at this nature theme park: Zoobic Park; Rodent World; Serpentarium; Bone Museum (where taxidermic zoo animals and their bones are displayed); and the Aeta Trail (where Luzon aboriginals enthusiastically share their culture through music and dance). Aside from the fearsome tigers at the Tiger Safari, the most interesting animals I saw up close were a cuddly loris, a squeaky otter, and endangered Philippine crocodiles at Croco Loco.

Located 110 kilometers north of the capital, Subic, Zambales is a 3-hour drive north of Metro Manila. Zoobic Safari charges  PHP395  for adults, and PHP295  for children (inclusive of guided tours). Reviews of Zoobic Glampz from real guests

Agoda

Excellent Service!”

All the staffs are very accommodating. Their service are excellent. The room was clean and just right for its price. But the foods selection was simple and a bit expensive.

Nice concept but could be better with the price”

Pro 1. It's secluded, yet near the zoo 2. You feel like you are alone in the jungle (if they are not fully booked) 3. Love the kawa bath Cons 1. Staff is not visible and no easy way to look for them if you need them 2. Food could be better for the price you pay 3. I think they need to do a better job in cleaning the vicinity so that it will look more presentable Improvements They could make a Larger area for guests to move around or explore the jungle. Instead of just providing a pool and some deck because you won't be doing anything else here, so a lil bit of invitation for exploration is a plus for guests

Nice experience but their Manila booking office lacked coordination with the property in Subic”

We enjoyed the unique and relaxing experience of staying in a room located in a forest. The booking also included a Zoobic Safari tour, kawa bath, 2 meals. We appreciate the staff's service during our stay. Cons: When we arrived, the receptionist was not aware of our Agoda booking. They missed to provide 1 booked/paid room during our 1st night. Plain choices for their set meals.

Chic Mix

  • Family Fun at Zoobic Safari in Subic, Zambales

subic zambales zoobic safari

Our kids have definitely experienced that cabin fever for the past couple of years. Which is why we went on an overnight trip to Subic just before the year ended. The itinerary? Tigers at Zoobic safari and Subic beach, of course!

Zoobic Safari

subic zambales zoobic safari

We started out our roadtrip by traveling up north to Zoobic Safari. It is one of the bigger zoos we have, at around 25 hectares wide, and is home to hundreds of species of animals from all over the world. What sets it apart is that it is the country’s first and only tiger safari where you can interact with tigers up close through a safari tour.

They changed their set up from previous trips though, as now you are encouraged to drive around the area with your own car, instead of them offering their free tram ride to get to each part of the park. This is part of their safety measures and I personally am liking it.

subic zambales zoobic safari

We got our tickets on the day, at the regular price of: P695 Adult P595 Kids 4ft and below

I do know that if you use yogo and book in advance you would be able to score around 40% discount. get 5 tickets for only 1,690 php instead of 3,745 php .

The whole trip was a spur-of-the-moment thing though, which is why we settled for a walk-in price and no discounts.

Zoobic Safari Attractions

You'd find 15 attractions in the zoo, but some of them were closed when we went in. We were able to go to the major areas though, like:

Zoobic Park and Aeta's Trail

subic zambales zoobic safari

We bought feeding baskets for the animals and toured around Zoobic Park. It is a petting zoo filled with different types of wild and domesticated animals. Here you’ll find deer, ostriches, albino caribous, monkeys, eagles, horses and so much more. It is connected to the Aeta's Trail, where you would usually find a show or two of the history of Aetas and their cultural dances, but for this tour there was none.

Serpentarium

subic zambales zoobic safari

While there was no Harry Potter and Parseltounge moment happening, this is one cool place to check out Slytherin's favorite reptiles. The Serpentarium is home to a wide range of cold-blooded creatures from lizards, iguanas to boa constrictors that we can all see in real time!

Croco Loco

I've always loved this part of the Zoobic Safari, usually because it is pretty thrilling when you feed them chickens. You'd see the crocs as something that is very steady and unmoving, but once they smell that chicken on your bait... OMG they're all active! And they definitely want a piece of that yummy chicken meat!

subic zambales zoobic safari

We paid around 50 Php for every pole with chicken for feeding them.

Lion close encounter.

subic zambales zoobic safari

We also saw the king of the jungle up close in their own sleep and rest area. The kiddos were thrilled, and they can't stop talking about the Lion King movie afterward. They also offered a feeding activity with the lions, which my daughter was pretty much excited for. I did find it a bit sad that the lions were inside their cages and I wondered if they were able to go out and stretch their legs too like the tigers.

If I'm not mistaken, the feeding was around 50 Php too.

Tiger safari ride .

subic zambales zoobic safari

Riding in a Jeep with fenced doors and windows, the Tiger Safari Ride definitely will give you and your child Jurrasic Park vibes but with all the fun and safety included. This is the main attraction of the zoo, where we can see tigers in their natural habitat. Some you'd see to be swimming in their lake and if you come before lunchtime, you can definitely try out feeding the tigers too. That part is definitely adrenaline inducing as the tigers will be extra close! This may very well be the closest thing to a real animal Jungle safari that's safe to walk around in Luzon.

A dressed chicken for the tiger feeding costs 200 Php. We were not able to do that as the tigers have just finished lunch when we went.

Animal show .

subic zambales zoobic safari

The Zoobic Safari Animal Show has 3 or 4 scheduled times throughout the day. The show centers around biodiversity and doing our part in taking care of the planet so the animals still have a proper habitat to live in. Lucky guests get to be a part of the show, and interact with the snakes and other animals. This is a perfect activity to do after lunch if you want to take a breather before going to the next attraction.

subic zambales zoobic safari

Sky Safari

subic zambales zoobic safari

We were waiting for the Animal Show to start, and right on top of the seats for the show was their Ziplining adventure, Sky Safari. My kids and I are always up for a great thrill and adventure. So we definitely did this one. There were two parts to the zipline, which will have you going back to where you began. It was a thrill, and more for me because I was just holding my go pro for dear life at around 40 ft high, and it didn't even have straps LOL. I was scared that I might drop and break it HAHAHA

subic zambales zoobic safari

A ride costs 300 Php per person for this one.

Lunch at zoobic safari.

subic zambales zoobic safari

You can easily grab lunch for an estimate of 350 Php per meal at their restaurant near the entrance of Zoobic Park, beside the place for the Animal Show. A bit on the high side in my opinion but we definitely enjoyed our lunch as they featured home-cooked meals.

Zoobic Safari and Ocean Adventure Itinerary 2 Days 1 Night

If you are planning to have a quick tour on both Zoobic Safari and Ocean Adventure in Subic Bay, Bataan. Here is a suggested 2 days 1 night itinerary that you can use as a reference when you visit the two tourist attractions in the Subic bay area.

We were time-constrained which is why we do our tour only for 2 days and 1 night which includes our travel from Manila to Subic and vice versa.

It was also our first time visiting Subic, so watching the scenery while on the bus was also considered part of the tour.

2 Days 1 Night Itinerary for Zoobic Safari and Ocean Adventure Tour

Day 1 travel to subic, olongapo.

  • 3:00 pm Take the Victory Liner bus going to Subic Olongapo
  • 7:30 pm Arrived at Olongapo Victory Liner Terminal. (Its a 4-hour travel plus the 30 minutes stopover somewhere in Pampanga)
  • 8:00 pm Have Dinner at a fast-food chain nearby. (Luckily Chowking and Jollibee is just very near the terminal)
  • 8:30 pm Look for a legitimate taxi and go to an Apartelle / Inn in Subic. My suggestion is to make an agreement with the tax driver so that he will be responsible to tour you around Subic the following day. Taxi going to the hotel is around Php300. The taxi fare for the tour for the whole day is Php3000 (back then). It was very expensive.
  • 9:00 pm Check in at Hotel and Rest. Hotel expense for one day (24 hours) is PHP 950 only. We stayed in Aotriz Apartment in Subic during the duration of our tour.

  • 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm Ocean Adventure Tour. Again, the whole part of this theme park can be covered for just half-day.
  • 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm Head back to Hotel and take short rest
  • 7:30 pm Go to the Bus terminal again by the taxi we rented
  • 7:30 to 8:00 pm Dinner at Fast Food nearby
