The nine-date run of shows will see the band return to Edinburgh for the first time in over 40 years, while they will also perform in Derby for the first time since 1966.

Sections of the show will be devoted to the group’s classic albums ‘Tommy’ and ‘Quadrophenia’, while they will also be playing songs from their most recent album, 2019’s ‘WHO’, which was their first studio album for 13 years.

UB40 featuring Ali Campbell will be joining them on all shows apart from Edinburgh and London.

“Having not toured the UK for six years, it’s great that at this time of our careers we have the chance to go to places that are not on the usual touring map – Edinburgh Castle and Derby, as well as the other cities across the country that we haven’t been to for decades, will make this very special for me,” said singer Roger Daltrey. “This opportunity will give our UK Who fans the chance to hear our current show, which, with the addition of an orchestra, takes our music to new heights.”

Pete Townshend added: “Roger initially christened this tour with an orchestra ‘Moving On!’ I love it. It is what both of us want to do. Move on, with new music, classic Who music, all performed in new and exciting ways. Taking risks, nothing to lose. I’m really looking forward to bringing this show to the UK.”

Tickets will go on general sale on Friday, February 3, at 10am. The band has encouraged fans to donate £1 when they buy their ticket to Teenage Cancer Trust, which they have longtime patrons of. You can see the full list of dates below and buy your tickets here .

the who ub40 tour

Review by Gary Spiller for MPM

It’s very leafy and green here in the countryside of South Gloucestershire, it’s also rather refined hereabouts too.

It’s a very pleasant Sunday afternoon, in between the blustery downpours, for The Who to ‘Hit Bristol’ as their tour poster for today proclaims. Splitting hairs, here at Badminton Estate, we’re about a half hour’s drive and as far removed from the hustle and bustle of Bristol’s city centre as one can be.

Still, we’re amongst a crowd of many thousands gathered to take in the spectacle of British rock legends The Who take their music to another level with the most capable assistance of The Heart of England Orchestra.

Whilst, nestled in the shadow of the Worcester Lodge – the estate’s Northern entrance, we’re a little way away from the 12 th Duke of Beaufort’s front lawn (more of him later …. The Duke not the lawn in case clarification is somehow required) there pervades a well-heeled, genteel air of gentrified respectability. Not quite the mods and rockers tearing up Brighton’s seafront, in fact it’s all convivial between the once rival factions.

The home of the internationally renown Badminton Horse Trials and where the sport that shares the estate’s name was popularised in the 19 th century this estate is much lauded lands. There is, after all, a double decker Routemaster bus serving Pimms near the back of the temporary arena. Tonight’s headliners, in terms of rock n’ roll history and nobility, are in my books on at least parity with their surrounds.

A career, rammed to the gunnels with notoriety, spanning across seven decades and a round dozen albums of which all bar two have graced the top ten of the UK charts. It’s a safe bet that founding members Pete Townshend and Roger Daltrey have much to be rightfully proud of. In any doubt? Then check out their seminal live album ‘Live At Leeds’ of which we will ravenously gorge upon a considerable percentage of the extended recordings tonight.

Bang on the allotted time opening band The Listening Device walk out on to the vast acreage of the stage, right on some twisted cue so the darkened clouds let fly with a short but incredibly accurate squall. Vocalist, and frontman, Harry ‘Bunter’ Worcester (aka The Duke of Beaufort as mentioned previously) outstretches raised hands in symbolic disbelief. “Welcome to Badminton!” he proclaims before introducing his cohorts and himself.

the who ub40 tour

It’s not every day that googling a rock band takes you to the upper-class online pages of high society magazine ‘Tatler’. It’s herein I discover the identity of the beholder of the seemingly rain-induced bemusement. In fact, it’s not every day one gets to ‘rock out’ with the landed gentry. From a personal perspective I can safely state that this is a first.

Slightly psych, the gentle atmospherics of opening number ‘Faded Man’ draws in the early doors crowd and by the time they end their 40 minutes with a searing uptempo’ed ‘Eleanor Rigby’ they have well and truly introduced themselves to one and all. Their prog tendencies are prominent and there’s sprinklings of Marillion in ‘Laughter in Her Eyes’ and utter deluge that does its absolute best to dampen the vibe.

the who ub40 tour

‘Gothic Wedding’ stirs the spirits as a watery sun vainly attempts to break through high above the stage prior to interloper ‘September Sun’ shining a piercing beam through the darkened ethereal prog-aesthetics of TLD. Worcester the self-proclaimed, with tongue firmly inserted cheekwards, “rock god and talentless golfer” (according to his Twitter account) notes “You might have been getting the idea that we specialise in the darker end of the spectrum.” Must agree with his observation that this was the track to break that particular mould.

the who ub40 tour

‘Magic Potion’ invokes the essence of Pink Floyd and Genesis with an uncanny Bowie-infused edge in the vocals department, a heady brew. Thoroughbred ‘Beautiful’ rounds off a comprehensive introduction to The Listening Device’s most recent album ‘Path To Redemption before tearing up the form book with their raucous set closer.

The music of this tour’s special guests, UB40 featuring Ali Campbell , reverberated about my teenage years, in fact it’s worth noting that, alongside, Madness UB40 spent the most weeks on the UK singles chart in the 80s, an incredible 214 weeks to be precise! The Badminton gathering are about to be regaled with an hour-long journey from their late 70’s roots and social observations through to 2008 and ‘TwentyFourSeven’ the last album to feature the distinctive voice of Ali Campbell.

UB40’s contagious ska riffs and melodious reggae beats remain a personal favourite in amongst my strong leanings in the direction of rock and metal. Carefree in their very nature it’s music of a timeless essence. Nominated for the Grammy Award for Best Reggae Album on four occasions the rock-steady lineup that came together in early 1979 and remained intact for nearly three decades. A stunning length of time considering the Midlanders were an eight-piece outfit throughout this period.

the who ub40 tour

Following a somewhat acrimonious split in 2008, citing management issues which were subsequently vindicated, from the band Ali Campbell forged ahead with solo projects before regrouping with fellow classic line-up members Astro and Mickey Virtue to take the music of UB40 forwards. Now minus Virtue and the sadly departed Astro the legacy remains with Campbell at the forefront with an energetically driven octet.

In an hour long set with a nucleus focused upon the first two albums of the ‘Labour Of Love’ trilogy we’re treated to two of three UB40 singles that graced the pinnacle of the UK Singles charts. It’s joyous and unbridled in its kinetics as the vibrancies chase away the threatening clouds to leave the evening mercifully largely rainless.

the who ub40 tour

A quartet of nuggets from ‘Labour of Love II get the ball rolling with Al Green’s ‘Here I Am (Come And Take Me)’ the starter for ten. This and the following track ‘The Way You Do The Things You Do’ – both top ten Stateside hits yet curiously barely denting the singles charts on this side of the Atlantic – set the tone neatly. It’s bright and breezy encapsulating all that’s great about UB40.

the who ub40 tour

Big Frank, Ali’s sidekick, rallies “I’m not being funny, and pardon my French, you gotta make some more fucking noise!” ‘Homely Girl’ brings the Caribbean to Gloucestershire whilst The Newbeats’ upbeat essence of ‘Groovin’ (Out On Life)’ manfully keeps the rainclouds at bay, is there a hint of blue above?

the who ub40 tour

Playfully nipping at the crowd’s heels Big Frank turns motivator, bantering throughout and insists, at the chagrin of those lovely security folks in yellow, that the crowd get up, come closer for a boogie. “I you wanna dance do so!” chirpily adding “Ignore the guys in fluorescent, fuck ‘em!”

With the opening notes of the legendary ‘Cherry Oh Baby’ the overwhelming majority, myself included, more than happily comply. Ali shoulders a red Telecaster – the first appearance of a six-string in the set – and the rest is history.

the who ub40 tour

It most certainly is a beautiful evening for some reggae classics such as the enduring ‘One In Ten’ – a top ten smash from 1981 – its hard-hitting lyrics protesting against the Thatcherite government of the time as relevant nowadays as then. “A statistical reminder of a world that doesn’t care” laments Ali.

the who ub40 tour

An acuminous ska riffed rendition of Prince’s ‘Purple Rain’ sees Ali, Frank and co. taking the very essence of the Labour of Love series, bringing down the house in the process. ‘Stick By Me’ and ‘I’ll Be There’, the latter with delightfully prominent brass, ensure the river keeps flowing as the set builds towards a crescendo.

The ageless and undeniably soulful ‘Many Rivers To Cross’ raises the hairs on the back of the neck. Jimmy Cliff would, no doubt, wholeheartedly approve of the spinetingling delivery. Spanning a decade, the set-closing trio sandwiches number four smash ‘Kingston Town’ in between a brace of chart-toppers as the Badminton Estate grooves to the chilled-out vibes emanating.

the who ub40 tour

Big Frank punches a familiar line, “People try to put us down!” in the intro of the vividly shimmering ‘Red Red Wine’, Campbell’s vocals haven’t diminished with the passage of time, has it really been 40 years? The closing track ‘Can’t Help Falling In Love’ is a bonafide crowd pleaser with the sun descends horizonwards. Yes! The sun has made an overdue appearance as Ali and his band soak up the thoroughly deserved love of the crowd. It’s been a quality packed sixty minutes that has been lapped up by rockers and mods alike. As Big Franks says “Yoh you’ve been wicked!”

With the mellifluous talents of the Heart of England Philharmonic on board The Who have set sail to the lands they must have longed for when writing their epic rock operas ‘Tommy’ and ‘Quadrophenia’. From the powering of the former’s powering ‘Overture’ right through to the latter’s spine chilling ‘Love, Reign O’er Me’ it’s insurmountable evidence that these wondrous tracks lend themselves to this expansive vision.

Roger Daltrey, crashing a pair of tambourines together, and Pete Townshend hammering a golden Stratocaster might never have envisaged being titled ‘visionaries’ at their offset in the mid-sixties but it’s a most accurate indictment of the two remaining founding members. We’ll, of course, never know how things would have turned out if Keith Moon and John Entwistle had reached this juncture but I’d like to think that this grandiose scaled adventure would meet their approval.

the who ub40 tour

Getting underway Townshend thanks the crowd for coming out and supporting, along with UB40 for warming the crowd up, “As you can see, we’re playing with an orchestra” he comments the master of understatement as ever. There’s a touch of southern in ‘1921’, Simon Townshend faces off his older brother Pete as they flank Daltrey. It’s a family affair with Simon’s son Josh (guitarist in Welsh rockers Scarlet Rebels) designing the tour’s official poster, in fact the finish-line video of Josh completing his first ever Ironman event is shown on the big-screens earlier.

the who ub40 tour

Daltrey’s vocals are opulent and wide-ranging in tone, statuesque he holds his mic at shoulder height whilst Pete’s guitar howls at the heavens. The thunderous drums of Zak Starkey herald the explosion of ‘Amazing Journey’ evoking memories of being at Hyde Park in ’96 when he made his first appearance with The Who. Where did 27 years go?

the who ub40 tour

Atop the thundering earthquake of ‘Sparks’ a bluesy fabric is woven with the slick basslines of Jon Button entwining clematis-like. Four tracks in and it’s undeniable that the production is anything other than phenomenal; the strings and wind sections are truly storming. They canter at a fair lick in ‘The Acid Queen’ whilst the silver spherical of ‘Pinball Wizard’ careers gloriously wild about the estate. Simon blasts out the acoustic intro with Pete, along with the massed ranks of The Heart of England, building up the atmosphere. The Bally table is torn asunder with the thunder of the gods.

the who ub40 tour

An errant cloud masks the sun, seeking a script busting moment, as the rousing ‘We’re Not Gonna Take It’ completes a romp along ‘Tommy’ Avenue to a rapturous roar of cheers. “At last, the sun came out” Daltrey notes before adding, sardonically, “Fucking July in England!” Pete offers a sincere shout-out to the orchestra, but their name eludes him (we’re all human after all) “Can I have my piece of paper [to remind me]” he politely requests. “They’re getting sharper and stronger” he adds.

the who ub40 tour

The services of the orchestra are welcomingly retained as one question is asked ‘Who Are You’, an enquiry to which the crowd respond riotously. It’s stupendously superb, a fully expansive raging beast with Daltrey storming “Oh who the fuck are you?” The crowd provide pin sharp “Who ooohs” aplenty. Right off the smoking mean city streets ‘Eminence Front’ Pete offers “Come join the party” warning as he continues “but if you join the party you may have to dress to kill!”

the who ub40 tour

The orchestra file off stage for a mid-set break, It’s humorously noted they share the same union but get differing ‘conditions. Scaling back to “being the little band we’ve always have been” as Daltrey puts it The Who crash headlong into the pure mod-fuelled rock n’ roll of ‘The Kids Are Alright’, producing a resounding despatch. Age defying classic ‘You Better You Bet’ is a kaleidoscopic effulgence.

the who ub40 tour

Pete trades his Stratocaster for a red and white Rickenbacker for ‘Anyway, Anyhow, Anywhere’ as he and Roger banter between themselves. “Technically this is South Gloucestershire” the six-stringer correctively observes before a comedic ‘mix-up’ with the running order with the frontman hitting an equaliser heralding with the opening line of ‘Substitute’. Marauding bass and cart-wheeling riffs enmesh with impactful vocals as the gears are cranked up through.

the who ub40 tour

Rain threatens but doesn’t materialise with ‘I Can’t Explain’ rounding off a seminal triple on non-album singles from the compilation ‘Meaty Beaty Big and Bouncy’. ‘My Generation’ follows in one almighty explosion prior to morphing into a segment of ‘Cry If You Want’.

The stampeding ‘Won’t Get Fooled Again’ trucks along the freeway with those unmistakable keys taking front stage. Daltrey stomps with his mic, hanging close to floor-level, picking up his heavy footedness which adds to a tangible atmosphere. Violinist Katie Jacoby and cellist Audrey Snyder are welcomed back to the boards for stunning rendition of ‘Behind Blue Eyes’ before their counterparts from the Heart of England rejoin proceedings for an, in the main, ‘Quadrophenia’ infused finale.

the who ub40 tour

‘The Real Me’ is full blown, striking in its resonance oh Doctor! With Daltrey on harmonica ‘I’m The One’ is spellbinding “I just blend in the crowd” he emotes. The album these tracks are drawn from is one of my personal favourites and long the memories of witnessing Daltrey, Entwistle, Townshend and a much-lauded cast perform it at Hyde Park will live with me. To now be a voyeur upon their further evolution achieves parity.

the who ub40 tour

‘5:15’ is ushered in with Starkey’s clicking of his sticks as Daltrey whirls his mic in large circles. Dusk encroaches as Pete’s red and white Strat wails in melodic drama. Glimmery cymbals and regal keys of ‘The Rock’ reverberate as archive footage of world strife and trouble play upon the big screens either side of the stage. It’s poignant and powerful stuff.

the who ub40 tour

A solitary white beam shines upon the keys for the intro of ‘Love, Reign O’er Me’. Daltrey, fists held aloft firmly clenched, and a blue towel wrapped about his neck unfurls his fingers one by one. It’s 150% captivating. A fine spray rains down upon the vocalist, his white shirt sodden. Wild vocals echo across the stately lands with a steam hammer band delivery battering down the ramparts. Extended introductions are given by Pete prior to the showstopping ‘Baba O’Riley’ provides a truly memorable set-ending aspect.

The night skies are clear, the clouds firmly driven away in a no-nonsense fashion, as teenage wastelands are explored. We’re left wondering, and indeed hoping, that next year’s 60 th anniversary is celebrated. In a summer of goodbyes from the likes of Elton John and Kiss there’s room for thought. Either way we’ve been richly entertained by two of the elder statesmen of British rock in an insurrectionary manner that genuinely belies their years.

UB40 is ALWAYS a treat for the senses live. Their sound is larger than life. How could it be anything less? With Veteran member Robin Campbell on rhythm and lead guitar who also sings with the deeper, melodic voice. Duncan Campbell giving the lead vocals all he's got, throw in some subtle smiles and a whole lot of sophisticated charm as well. Earl Falconer on bass, making a center stage appearance for a few songs of his own, including, Bulldozer, a fantastic new one from the current album "For The Many". Martin Meredith on saxophone playing straight to your soul, Lawrence Perry dazzling on trumpet, and humbly standing in for The one and only Brian Travers was Ian who really carried the music quite well and is an absolute gentleman. Norman Hassan gives you voice, percussion, character and some very fancy dance moves! Tony Mullings on keyboards lays down a very complicated array of sounds that infiltrate the music and make it what it is, he adds so much to the richness of their brand of Reggae. Jimmy Brown sets the tempo on the drums and gives this fine group of genuine, talented, musicians a wild ride to lay down all of their musical contributions to and float you away on rythm, melody, beat, love songs, politics, thought provoking, smile producing MUSIC! This is a band that if you are fortunate enough to have the opportunity to see live, and you miss it, you missed more than you will ever realize. They are so good to their true and loyal fans, both on stage and off. There's obvious reason why this is 40th anniversary tour, 40 years of material, all authentic (even the covers!) all genuine, all solid, and inspirational. UB40 is the finest entertainment I've ever had the privilege to experience. Go. See. Them.

The Who to play with orchestra on first UK tour in six years

The Who have announced a UK tour which will see the band performing with a full orchestra each night.

The group’s first UK tour in six years is promoted by Robomagic . It takes place from July 6-23 with dates in Hull, Edinburgh, London, Derby, Bristol, Durham, St Helens and Brighton. UB40 featuring Ali Campbell will join them on the bill across all regional shows except for The O2 London and Edinburgh Castle dates.

Pete Townshend, Roger Daltrey and band will be performing music from throughout the band’s nearly 60-year career, including sections devoted to classic albums Tommy and Quadrophenia, as well as songs from their 2019 WHO album, their first studio release in 13 years .

The 2023 UK shows include Edinburgh Castle, the band’s first show in the Scottish capital in over 40 years, as well as shows in Derby, their first since 1966, The O2 London , Durham and Brighton cricket grounds. The gigs follow last year’s The Who Hits Back tour of the US. Tickets go on general sale at 10am on Friday, February 3.

The 2023 UK tour will feature The Who’s full live band comprised of guitarist/backup singer Simon Townshend, keyboardist Loren Gold, second keyboardist Emily Marshall, bassist Jon Button, drummer Zak Starkey and backing vocals by Billy Nicholls, along with orchestra conductor Keith Levenson, lead violinist Katie Jacoby and lead cellist Audrey Snyder.

The Who wound up their Who Hits Back tour of the US in November last year having played in more than 30 cities. Most of the orchestral arrangements were by arranger, composer and conductor David Campbell.

“Having not toured the UK for six years, it's great that at this time of our careers we have the chance to go to places that are not on the usual touring map, Edinburgh Castle and Derby, as well as the other cities across the country that we haven’t been to for decades, it will make this very special for me,” said Roger Daltrey.

I’m really looking forward to bringing this show to the UK."

Music | EXCLUSIVE: Mountain Winery announces epic concert lineup for 2024

Gary clark jr., dwight yoakam, rod stewart, air supply, megan moroney and more.

Gary Clark Jr., who played at Arlyn Studios in Austin, Texas, earlier this month, will headline at Mountain Winery in Saratoga on Aug. 18.

Mountain Winery is set to unveil a mammoth concert lineup for it’s 2024 concert season.

The season — the picturesque Saratoga venue’s 66th overall — will consist of more than 70 concerts, touching upon everything from country, comedy and classic rock to pop, funk and oldies.

Big names on the bill include Rod Stewart, Natalie Merchant, Parliament-Funkadelic, Daryl Hall, Elvis Costello, Chelsea Handler and Harry Connick, Jr.

The venue is announcing the lineup today (March 28) at 8 a.m. The presale for Loyalty Club members begins at 10 a.m. April 2, with the general public on sale following at 10 a.m. April 5. Visit mountainwinery.com

The full lineup is listed below, but let’s first take a look at the 10 shows I’m be most excited to see. I’ll run through the list chronologically.

1. Dwight Yoakam (May 17) — I had the chance to see the country troubadour last year, as part of Blue Note Napa’s Summer Session at the Meritage Resort, and he sounded fantastic. His songbook includes some of the genre’s finest tunes of the last 40 years, including “Guitars, Cadillacs” and “A Thousand Miles from Nowhere.”

2. Tanya Tucker (May 21) — Can someone explain to me why it took until 2023 for this legendary performer to get inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame? Seems like “Delta Dawn” alone should’ve secured her passage into the hall at least a decade earlier.

3. Megan Moroney (July 19) — Yes, I’m well aware that my list opens with three straight country music singers. The first two are flat-out icons, while Moroney is one of the most talented and promising new talents to be found in any genre. Her self-assured debut, “Lucky,” was my pick for the best album of 2023. And it’s also the main reason why this show ranks as the one I most want to see at the Mountain Winery in 2024.

4. Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit (July 20) — Who doesn’t like Jason Isbell? Judging by the reviews that this Americana artist has gotten from so many of his past albums — which includes last year’s “Weathervanes” — the answer is pretty much nobody.

5. The Australian Pink Floyd Show (Aug. 9) — It’s rare that a tribute act would make one of my top 10 lists, but I’m just so in the mood to hear those epic David Gilmour guitar parts played live. And Mr. Gilmour hasn’t toured the Bay Area since 2006. Sigh.

6. Gary Clark Jr (Aug. 18) — Speaking of cool guitar work, this Austin blues-rocker will surely light up the frets when he visits Saratoga. The four-time Grammy winner is touring in support of his recently released fourth studio album, “JPEG Raw.”

7. Lost 80’s Live (Aug. 31) — Just a really fun lineup, with A Flock of Seagulls, Wang Chung, The English Beat, Missing Persons, The Vapors, The Escape Club, Stacey Q, Animotion, Musical Youth and Dramarama. The best part is the sets tend to be short, so expect the hits and not much else.

8. Air Supply (Sept. 6) — I definitely don’t have to sell this one to the band’s incredibly devoted fans — lovingly dubbed “Airheads” — who will turn out in mass to see Air Supply perform such classic cuts as “Lost in Love,” “All Out of Love,” “The One That You Love” and, best of all, “Making Love Out of Nothing at All.”

9. Three Dog Night & Little River Band (Sept. 7) — The latter has so many awesome songs, but I’d buy a ticket just to hear these first-tier Yacht Rockers play “Cool Change” alone. Toss in Three Dog Night — and the chance to scream along to “Joy to the World” — and this one definitely looks like a winner.

10. Clint Black (Oct. 17) — I opened with country and I’m closing it, especially since Black is touring in celebration of the 35th anniversary of arguably his finest album — the 1989 multi-platinum debut “Killin’ Time.”

New version of classic UB40 hit set to hit airwaves

One of the country's biggest bands has released a new version of the song that broke them into the big time.

the who ub40 tour

UB40 have given one of their classic songs revamp in honour of their beloved Birmingham City Football Club, with Forever True becoming the brand-new BCFC anthem, with new lyrics set to the beat of Food For Thought.

The new single carries the beat and sounds of Food For Thought, a song which has a permanent home at Birmingham City Football Club, with fans chanting the saxophone melody after goals.

Robin Campbell said: “We’re life-long supporters of Birmingham City, so it was a no-brainer for us to celebrate our home team and town by re-recording the song that fans know and love.

"It fills us with so much pride to, in our own way, be a part of the club’s story. It’s humbling and never gets old hearing fans chant the song every time a goal is scored.

"We hope that they’ll love this new version, Forever True, as much as we do.”

It comes ahead of a special concert on April 1 at Birmingham City’s ground, St Andrew’s, held to mark the release of UB40’s forthcoming album, UB45, out on April 19.

After the Birmingham City v Preston North End match on Monday, UB40 will take to the stage with a free, one-hour concert for match-goers that will be packed full of hits, fan favourites and songs from the new album.

Over the course of their career, UB40 have garnered over 100 million album sales, 50 UK Top 40 singles and 10 UK Top 10 albums. Food For Thought was UB40’s breakthrough single, taken from the critically acclaimed debut album, Signing Off (1980).

It reached No.4 on the UK singles charts and became the first single in history to reach the UK Top 10 without the backing of a major record label.

UB45 celebrates a huge 45-year milestone for the band, honouring more than four decades of touring the world together and recording music shot through with an unbreakable bond, fostered by the band’s long-standing friendships and shared Birmingham roots.

It features seven brand new songs plus seven fresh recordings of some of the band’s best loved hits.

New tracks include singles Gimme Some Kinda Sign and Home, plus a beautiful rendition of Bill Withers’ Hope She’ll Be Happier, Trouble, Say Nothing, Fool Me Once, and 2022 Commonwealth Games anthem Champion.

Alongside that, Food For Thought, King, Tyler, Red Red Wine, Cherry Oh Baby, Sing Our Own Song and Kingston Town have all been given a new recorded treatment while retaining the spirit, timbre and melodies that fans know and love.

The 45-year celebrations will continue well into 2024, when UB40 head out on the road for a headline UK arena tour with special guests Soul II Soul, with a homecoming show on November 9 at Birmingham Resorts World Arena.

Absolutely amazing last night at Hull didn’t want it to end!

' src=

Is there to be a video or blu Ray commercial film of this current tour for public release in the future?

' src=

No plans as yet, but . . . you never know

' src=

Saw them in Edinburgh and they were AMAZING! Way better than expected!

' src=

We’ll be waiting to japan!come back again.P lease‼️

When is Roger going release a CD/Album of some of Pete’s solo songs that coulda, woulda, shoulda been Who songs???? What better project during Who down times to keep Roger’s voice fresh? He’s already done a version of “Let My Love Open The Door,” and live versions of “Sea Refuses No River,” and “Eminence Front.” The song list could span their whole career. Here are my suggestions for a Roger solo album I would LOVE to own… A Legal Matter, My Baby Gives It Away, Keep Me Turning, Rough Boys, Jools & Jim, A Little is Enough, Empty Glass, Gonna Get Ya, Sea Refuses No River, Face Dances Part Two, Stardom In Action, Eminence Front, Give Blood, A Friend Is A Friend, and lastly, English Boy. This would make a great 80th Birthday release for Roger and Who fans!!!!!

I am in a wheelchair and had tickets for the O2.we expected UB40 to be the support, with The Who hitting the stage at 9pm. I had a hospital appointment today, but pushed myself to get to the O2. We arrived at 8:30pm, which gave us time to see The Who. When we arrived inside we discovered UB40 did not appear and The Who started at 8:15pm. Then due to a mess up by the O2 with our ticket, we were not able to sit and watch the band until 9pm. We missed 45 minutes and I am very upset. I am nearly 72 and now don’t expect to see The Who again.

Sorry you had so much trouble at the 02 on Wednesday. UB40 featuring Ali Campbell were not billed to appear at the 02 and it said so on our web site and social media posts. The start time for The Who was also not stated as 9.00pm.

' src=

Great show at the 02, thank you for the amazing music

' src=

Hi. What time at Derby tomorrow please? It says 1700 but that seems really early.

' src=

Going to the Derby show tonight with my eldest son, looking forward to it. What time will the show likely finish, as checking trains back to Nottingham afterwards?

About 10.30pm

A much weaker sound at Derby than at the 02 and a very poor response from the audience, I’m afraid many of them where I was didn’t seem to know who it was they were listening to?! (Why did they come?). Also, and no disrespect to those who behaved properly, loud talking ,and very heavy drinking all night! Seemed to adversely affect the performance as the band must have been aware of the response?!

' src=

Absolutely fantastic in Derby last night. Pete ‘windmilling’ and Roger hitting that high at end of ‘Who are you’…. and the incredible violin playing in Baba O’Riley. Wow!

' src=

What a great idea, Michael! I often thought the same hearing ROGER sing certain songs on Pete’s Solo projects. Here’s one I would add to your list: “somebody save me.” Roger to me is the best rock ‘n’ roll singer of all time, an inspiring man and artist; I saw him opening his North American solo tour in Vancouver, BC, Canada around 2006, I think; to me that particular touring band sounded like The Who on Leeds and Quadrophenia, and I think those guys would generate a WHO-like experience for this recording project. To me, that was “Young Man Blues” from Leeds, and “The Real Me” from Quadrophenia; would be a an amazing gift to get another record that blows you away. Roger still has the power and skill and spirit. Cheers, with Gratitude!

' src=

I’ve got tickets for the concert at Hove on Sun 23rd July. I know the gates open at 4pm, but I can’t get there then…. Can you tell me, please, what time UB40 are due on. And then what time The Who are due to take to the stage. I’ve searched everywhere for this info but can’t find it. Thanks

UB40 probably around 6.30pm and The Who around 8.15pm

' src=

Incredible so far seen the Paris both Edinburgh shows and Derby utterly brilliant. Incredible. Make no mistake The Who continue to amaze.

' src=

Really looking forward to seeing the tour in St. Helens on Friday. I’m taking my Dad as a birthday treat, he’ll be 75,hes always been a Who fan but never seen you live. I see gates open at 4:30pm, but what time should we expect UB40 to come on stage?

About 6.30pm, Mike.

Paris was immense; both Edinburgh shows were ‘Remarkable’ according to the Edinburgh Herald. Derby was fantastic described by a critic as ‘Heartstopping’. I’m off to Durham and St.Helens this week; can’t wait!!!!!!!

' src=

So looking forward to St Helens on Friday. It’ll be 50 years in November since I saw the band live for the first time of many since – and what better way to celebrate my ‘Who-iversary’than seeing them again? Bring it on!

' src=

Travelled in from Detroit specifically to see them at Edinburgh and Badminton shows – both shows were absolutely incredible. It’s been a while since I’ve seen Pete rip out a Rickenbacker guitar for a few songs, what a pleasure to see and hear. Roger’s voice and swinging mike were a flashback to earlier times. People were so great to us, we felt so welcomed here, thank you for that. The Who is a National Treasure, we will never forget this entire trip. Met so many new friends, and our old ones were on the stage. Well done!!!

As the UK’s number one fan, I’d love to meet up with likeminded people; I’m staying at the Campanile in Washington tomorrow, prior to the Durham show. Hopefully see fellow fans there.

' src=

Are all the stands for St helens closed? Just had am e.ail from see tickets moving me from a good veiw to one o the oor were I would t see when everyone stands up all within one day of show?

' src=

I remember as a 9 year old Boy listening to My Generation back in 1965. I have seen them on numerous occasions.Went to Edinburgh first Night and off to Hove on Sunday.Pete , Roger, thank you for all your Music and the happy times I have had watching you and listening. You have been a big part of my life, absolutely brilliant

' src=

Just been to the St Helens gig…1st time was Charlton in 76…this was just as great…ya can’t kill rock n roll…love these guys and the fans are just as crazy as ever…where would we be without The Who…!

' src=

It’s been some time doin’ Europe (Holland)………

' src=

I took my mum, dad and uncle last night to st helens and it was one of the best live performances I’ve ever been to! Vocals, music, lights, everything was amazing. The orchestra were fantastic too, especially the violinist towards the end!

Went to the St Helens gig…as good as Charlton in 76 – my first of many. Great time down at front…Thanks Pete and Roger and band…ya can’t kill rock n roll…!

Going to the show today but the weather isn’t looking great. Is there a risk of not going on due to weather?

Dear musicians, once I stand for closed doors in Dublin. I bought tickets long time before. Arrived after 1500 miles with parts of my family in our old car, started in Hannover Germany. And than this fucking lock down. A big dream damaged to see, hear, feel… the band in between this crazy Irish people. Now a few weeks ago I saw you in Berlin. Thanks not God, thanks the universe. Thanks you, I had got wet eyes. I’m coming to Sandringham, sure.To see, hear, feel… you in between British crowds

After the volcanic hell of trying to park a car in Brighton and Hove thankfully the gig was very good, some great moments and crucially an audience of actual Who fans! Great stuff.

After seeing the bands 1st gig with the orchestra back at Wembley a few years back I was a bit unsure what to expect at Brighton, however no worries awesome sound much better than what I remembered at Wembley. Pete seemed really up for this & was fabulous to watch throughout handling all the anouncements & chat throughout, wonderful evening, wonderful gig really kicking myself for not doing the O2 night in London, please God don’t let this be the last Who concert I’ll witness.

Yes the highlight for me at Wembley was the great version of imagine a man, I think one of the things I’ve enjoyed so much this time around is the sheer joy of seeing them again and the sonic richness of the sound , when it works, it really works. Yesterday though I was amazed to see and hear the superb Rick 12 string!

Best ever show ( and I have been to some gigs ) Wife said she doesn’t need to see any more bands now as the show at Eden last night won’t be beaten by any band.
