Tommy Emmanuel in Concert
Anytime you talk to any of Tommy Emmanuel's fans, whether musicians or civilians, invariably they will speak of not one but two qualities that define his greatness. The first, predictably, is his extraordinary guitar playing. Considered by those in the know to be among this planet's greatest guitarists, his playing is simply miraculous, as it would take three musicians, or more, to do what Tommy does solo. Who else, for example, when playing "Day Tripper," can lay down the rhythm part, dig into the riff and sing the melody all at once on just one acoustic guitar?
Which brings us to the other aspect of his music always mentioned, and without which the first might not be as powerful or as infectiously appealing: the joy. Yes, joy. Because it's one thing to play these multi-dimensional arrangements flawlessly on an acoustic guitar. But to do it with that smile of the ages, that evidence of authentic, unbridled delight, is an irresistible invitation to feel his music as deeply as he does. "The joy, he says, "is there always because I'm chasing it through music. Seeing the surprise in peoples' eyes is worth living and working for... I can't help but play to the people with all my heart, which is overflowing with joy of being in that moment that I've worked all my life for. And here it is!"
Although his expression is instrumental, he comes to the guitar much more like a vocalist, positively singing melodies through the strings. He inhabits the tunes he performs, delivering every nuance and turn of phrase. His own songs are also illuminated always with lyrical melodies that go right to the heart, such as his beautiful ode to his daughter, "Angelina," or his great "story without words," "Lewis & Clark." That they resonate so deeply without words makes sense, as words only go so far. But music, coming from a genuine and joyful source, can go so much farther. Now with The Best of Tommy songs, he brings us a complete collection of his own songs, all rich with ripe melodicism and rendered with joy in real-time.

Magic fingers.
Really enjoyed Tommy Emmanuel. My wife and I commented that his brain must be different than everybody else. The neuro- muscular coordination between his brain and fingers has to be amazing to play the way he does.
Awesome concert
Tommy is the best guitarist around. Tommy Emmanuel is a once-in-a-life-time must see in person for an unforgettable experience. Great showmanship and he has a great sense of humor. What a delight to see him in person. I would see him again without a doubt.
great and then some!
Wanted to see Tommy for years and was surprised he was rolling through SoCal at the House of Blues Anaheim. The seats were cramped like Group 10 on a Southwest flight, but the concert was great! Trey Hensley and Rob Ickes opened and did a great 50min set, then Tommy for about an hour, then all three to round out the evening. We're really impressed with Hensley, too, and will be watching for his return to the region.
Tommy The Great
I've been fortunate enough to have seen Tommy twice at the House of Blues. Not only is he the best guitarist on the planet but he loves to greet his fans and communicate with his audience.
Tommy Emmanuel at House of blues Anaheim
One of the best concerts ever!! Tommy rocked it along with Trey Hensley and Rob Ickes! They were amazing and the acoustics/ sound there was perfect!! CGP❤️
Fantastic musician! So glad we went and enjoyed the evening with Tommy Emmanuel and the opening musicians Rob Ickes and Trey Hensley! I would go again if he was playing again this weekend. If you love acoustic guitar go see Tommy Emmanuel.
Great Concert
Tommy Emmanuel is a one-of-a-kind great guitarist and performer. He captivates the audience with his amazing guitar skills & enthusiasm. Rob Ickes and Trey Hensley opened the show & are equally as talented, excellent musicians. The three performed together for a truly unforgettable experience. I loved the entire show & traveled 2 hours to get there.
The Greatest
Tommy is the absolute GREATEST player on the planet!
Could’ve been better
The venue opened the doors late and it was standing on the sides only. Behind the orange tape! Much better experience and venue in Salt Lake City at rose Wagner theater
The opening act of Ickes and Hensley were outstanding. Great guitar and singing. Then Tommy took the stage and took it to another level. Great show.

2024 Grammy-Nominated TOMMY EMMANUEL Lights Up New Year With UK + US Tour Dates and National Guitar Museum Honor
Article contributed by sro | published on thursday, january 4, 2024.
Coming off a dynamic 2023 which saw the release of his acclaimed collaborations album ACCOMPLICE TWO , a Grammy nomination, and “Lifetime Achievement” Award from The National GUITAR Museum, TOMMY EMMANUEL is starting 2024 where he brilliantly shines—on the stage—with his infectious guitar virtuosity and charismatic personality.
Between January 10-February 2, the acoustic guitarist extraordinaire, composer, and global touring artist will headline shows in the UK (with support act Molly Tuttle), Ireland (with Mike Dawes) and Paris (with Clive Carroll) before returning to the US on February 20 in Tulsa, OK. See his U.S. tour dates below (with support acts Rob Ickes and Trey Hensley) and the full international tour dates here .
TOMMY’s Grammy nomination (in the Best Arrangement, Instrumental or A Cappella category) is for “Folsom Prison Blues” by The String Revolution Featuring Tommy Emmanuel that was produced by Grammy® winning producer (and Johnny Cash’s son), John Carter Cash. Watch an in-studio video of it HERE and a discussion of the recording with TOMMY and The String Revolution HERE . The GRAMMYs air Sunday, February 4 and will broadcast live on the CBS Television Network and stream live and on-demand on Paramount+ at 8-11:30 p.m. ET/5-8:30 p.m. PT.
This past December, The National GUITAR Museum bestowed TOMMY with its annual “Lifetime Achievement” Award for 2023. He’s the fourteenth recipient of the award that most recently (2022) celebrated Jeff Beck.
“To watch Tommy play fingerstyle guitar is to see possibilities in the guitar that most guitarists don’t even know exist,” according to HP Newquist, the executive director of The National GUITAR Museum. “Tommy’s extraordinary skill is second to none among modern guitar players. He truly is one of the few players in history about whom the term “jaw-dropping” is perfectly suited. Over his decades-long career he has become both an icon and an inspiration, and we’re honored to be able to recognize Tommy’s contribution to the guitar with this award.”
Said TOMMY: “I want to thank the National Guitar Museum for this wonderful honor. I feel like it was yesterday when I started playing this beautiful instrument,” said Tommy. “I will always be grateful to my parents for nurturing us kids as youngsters, encouraging us and exposing us to good music, and the artists who exemplified the words "Talented Entertainers". The guitar has taken me places I could never have dreamed of, introduced me to audiences all over the world that I now have a relationship with, and kept that fire burning in my belly, to keep trying to learn more, play better, write deeper and give it all up on stage to the people I love playing for. I owe so much to so many who came before me and laid it all out. We, the lucky generation, have big shoes to fill.”
TOMMY EMMANUEL’s current album ACCOMPLICE TWO (the follow-up to 2018’s Accomplice One album) was released this past April via CGP Sounds. Produced lovingly by EMMANUEL, regarded by guitar great Chet Atkins as “one of the best guitar players I’ve ever seen,” the 16-track ACCOMPLICE TWO is a spirited mix of new takes on indelible classics and brand-new originals from TOMMY. His collaborators are some of the most remarkable musicians on the planet—an “A” list of musicians including Billy Strings, Molly Tuttle, Michael McDonald, Jamey Johnson, Raul Malo, and many more (the full list is HERE ). View the album’s critical praise HERE . EMMANUEL has continued to release videos including most recently these, filmed by Joshua Britt and Neilson Hubbard for Neighborhoods Apart .
ACCOMPLICE TWO is alive with the electric spirit of spontaneous, timeless joy created by inspired virtuosos. The combined artistry contained on these tracks is stunning, as is TOMMY’s cheerful ease at connecting naturally with this vast spectrum of musicians. Like the first volume, he merges the presence of beloved, legendary musicians—such as Jorma Kaukonen, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Little Feat, Sam Bush, the Del McCoury Band and Jerry Douglas—with the bright spirit of acclaimed young artists breaking through with deep artistry and true reverence for the power of song.

ABOUT TOMMY EMMANUEL :
TOMMY EMMANUEL has achieved enough musical milestones to satisfy several lifetimes. At the age of six, he was touring regional Australia with his family band. By 30, he was a rock n’ roll lead guitarist burning up stadiums in Europe. At 44, he became one of five people ever named a CPG (Certified Guitar Player) by his idol, music icon Chet Atkins . Today, he plays hundreds of sold-out shows every year from Nashville to Sydney to London. He’s piled up numerous accolades, including two Grammy Award nominations , two ARIA Awards from the Australian Recording Industry Association (the Aussie equivalent of the Recording Academy); repeated honors in the Guitar Player magazine reader’s poll including a cover story for their August 2017 issue; a cover feature for Vintage Guitar ’s July 2020 issue; and was Music Radar ’s reader’s poll #1 winner of the Ten Best Acoustic Guitarists in The World (December 2019). A noted fingerstyle guitarist, EMMANUEL frequently threads three different parts simultaneously into his material, operating as a one-man band who handles the melody, the supporting chords and the bass all at once. His talents, which translate in any language, carry him to the far corners of the globe, but EMMANUEL never plays the same show twice, and he improvises big chunks of every date. That leaves him open to those technical imperfections, though they also provide some of the humanity to an other-worldly talent. On May 8, 2020, he released a newly recorded career-spanning double album, THE BEST OF TOMMYSONGS , via CGP Sounds/Cruzen Street Records). Watch the album trailer here which focuses on TOMMY ’s unique ability to tell stories without words: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-SOQEMWYAQ4&feature=youtu.be . EMMANUEL subsequently released three EP’s with different collaborators, Accomplice Series Vol. 1, 2 and 3 , the last of which was in 2022.

Other celebrated musicians performing on the night include John Oates, Mickey Dolenz, Sir Brian May, Van Morrison, Albert Lee and Jeff ‘Skunk’ Baxter, and proceeds from the show will go to The James Burton Foundation, a non-profit organisation that supports music education for those in need through guitar donations and music instructions.
The follow-up to 2018’s Accomplice One , ACCOMPLICE TWO features a remarkable line-up of A-list musicians, including Tuttle , Billy Strings, Michael McDonald, Jamey Johnson, Jorma Kaukonen, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Little Feat, Sam Bush, the Del McCoury Band , Jerry Douglas, Yasmin Williams and Raul Malo .
“My accomplices on this album are all in a league of giants to me,” says TOMMY . “They all inspire me to reach for the stars; to give my best while supporting them as they give their best. We all have a chemistry and electricity together when we play music. I wanted to capture this power in songs and performances that will stand the test of time.”
Produced lovingly by EMMANUEL , regarded by guitar great Chet Atkins as “one of the best guitar players I’ve ever seen,” the 16-track ACCOMPLICE TWO is a spirited mix of new takes on indelible classics and brand-new originals from TOMMY.
The new album was released to stellar reviews, including UNCUT’s 8/10 write-up which said: “As ever, though Emmanuel’s playing strikes a combination of awe and shame into anyone who has ever picked up a guitar, he does no more or less than the song requires or deserves”. SONGLINES stated: “A mutually inspired quest for excellence pervades Accomplice Two ”, 4/5. And GUITARIST concluded: “a wonderfully recorded masterclass of inspired acoustic playing”, 9/10.

He’s piled up numerous accolades, including two Grammy Award nominations , two ARIA Awards from the Australian Recording Industry Association (the Aussie equivalent of the Recording Academy); repeated honours in the Guitar Player magazine reader’s poll including a cover story for their August 2017 issue; a cover feature for Vintage Guitar ’s July 2020 issue; and was Music Radar ’s reader’s poll #1 winner of the Ten Best Acoustic Guitarists in The World (December 2019). EMMANUEL subsequently released three EPs with different collaborators, Accomplice Series Vol. 1, 2 and 3 , the last of which was in 2022.

Grammy-Nominated TOMMY EMMANUEL Lights Up New Year With UK + US Tour Dates
Coming off a dynamic 2023 which saw the release of his acclaimed collaborations album ACCOMPLICE TWO , a Grammy nomination, and “Lifetime Achievement” Award from The National GUITAR Museum, TOMMY EMMANUEL is starting 2024 where he brilliantly shines—on the stage—with his infectious guitar virtuosity and charismatic personality.
Between January 10-February 2 , the acoustic guitarist extraordinaire, composer, and global touring artist will headline shows in the UK (with support act Molly Tuttle), Ireland (with Mike Dawes) and Paris (with Clive Carroll) before returning to the US on February 20 in Tulsa, OK. See his U.S. tour dates below (with support acts Rob Ickes and Trey Hensley) and the full international tour dates here .
TOMMY ’s Grammy nomination (in the Best Arrangement, Instrumental or A Cappella category) is for “Folsom Prison Blues” by The String Revolution Featuring Tommy Emmanuel that was produced by Grammy® winning producer (and Johnny Cash’s son), John Carter Cash.
“To watch Tommy play fingerstyle guitar is to see possibilities in the guitar that most guitarists don’t even know exist,” according to HP Newquist, the executive director of The National GUITAR Museum .
TOMMY EMMANUEL ’s current album ACCOMPLICE TWO (the follow-up to 2018’s Accomplice One album) was released this past April via CGP Sounds . His collaborators are some of the most remarkable musicians on the planet—an “A” list of musicians including Billy Strings, Molly Tuttle, Michael McDonald, Jamey Johnson, Raul Malo , and many more (the full list is HERE ).
The combined artistry contained on these tracks is stunning, as is TOMMY ’s cheerful ease at connecting naturally with this vast spectrum of musicians. Like the first volume, he merges the presence of beloved, legendary musicians—such as Jorma Kaukonen, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Little Feat, Sam Bush, the Del McCoury Band and Jerry Douglas —with the bright spirit of acclaimed young artists breaking through with deep artistry and true reverence for the power of song.

Tuttle and her band Golden Highway —Bronwyn Keith-Hynes on fiddle, Dominick Leslie on mandolin, Shelby Means on bass, and Kyle Tuttle on banjo—release their new album, City of Gold , on July 21. Produced by Molly Tuttle and Jerry Douglas and recorded in Nashville, this follow-up to their Grammy Award–winning debut album, Crooked Tree , was inspired by Tuttle’s near constant touring with Golden Highway and their growth together as musicians and performers, cohering as a band. These 13 tracks—mostly written by Tuttle and Ketch Secor (Old Crow Medicine Show)—capture the electric energy of the band’s live shows by highlighting each member’s musical strengths. Molly Tuttle announces UK tour dates with Tommy Emmanuel in January 2024
New single ‘Next Rodeo’, from upcoming album City of Gold , out now
Grammy Award-winning singer, songwriter and musician Molly Tuttle will tour the UK in January 2024 as special guest of fellow guitarist Tommy Emmanuel . The fifteen-city tour begins in Exeteron January 10 and continues with shows in Bath, London, Bexhill, Southend, Bury, Lytham, Sunderland, Glasgow (as part of the Celtic Connections festival), Buxton, King’s Lynn, Shrewsbury, St Albans, New Brighton and Harrogate. Tickets are on sale now. See below for all tour dates, and nonesuch.com/on-tour for more details.
Tuttle and her band Golden Highway also release ‘Next Rodeo’ now the second single from their upcoming album City of Gold , which is out on July 21 . The track follows previous single ‘El Dorado’ , which Billboard called ‘a vibrant blend of bluegrass with flashes of Old West, anchored by Tuttle’s earthy-yet-angelic vocal and the entire group’s ace musicianship.’ You can watch a video for ‘Next Rodeo’, filmed at Nashville’s Sound Emporium Studios (where the album was recorded) here .
“ This ain’t my first rodeo, ” Tuttle says of the song. “I’ve spent most of my adult life playing shows all around the world and ‘Next Rodeo’ reflects the miles I’ve put in with my band. We played 100+ shows over the past year which lead to recording City of Gold. ‘Next Rodeo’ feels like a fitting metaphor for my second Golden Highway record. Going back to my bluegrass roots has felt both nostalgic and brand new and this song encapsulates my feelings as I look back on a great year and look ahead to another one full of new places, people and songs .”
The new album follows Tuttle’s acclaimed 2022 record, Crooked Tree , which won Best Bluegrass Album at the 65th Annual Grammy Awards and also led to a Best New Artist nomination. Produced by Tuttle and Jerry Douglas, City of Gold was inspired by Tuttle’s constant touring with Golden Highway these past few years. These 13 tracks – mostly written by Tuttle and Ketch Secor (Old Crow Medicine Show) – capture the electric energy of band’s live shows by highlighting each members’ musical strengths.

The 15 date tour begins in Exeter on 10 January and continues with shows in Bath, London, Bexhill, Southend, Bury, Lytham, Sunderland, Glasgow (as part of the Celtic Connections festival), Buxton, King’s Lynn, Shrewsbury, St Albans, New Brighton and Harrogate. Full dates listed below. Tickets are on sale now .
Tuttle and her band Golden Highway also release Next Rodeo today, the second single from their upcoming album City of Gol d , which is out 21 July and available to pre-order here . A live video for Next Rodeo, filmed at Nashville’s Sound Emporium Studios (where the album was recorded), has also been released, watch below.
“This ain’t my first rodeo,” Tuttle says of the song. “I’ve spent most of my adult life playing shows all around the world and Next Rodeo reflects the miles I’ve put in with my band. We played 100+ shows over the past year which lead to recording City of Gold . Next Rodeo feels like a fitting metaphor for my second Golden Highway record. Going back to my bluegrass roots has felt both nostalgic and brand new and this song encapsulates my feelings as I look back on a great year and look ahead to another one full of new places, people and songs.”
