As much as I’d love to travel all the time, I can’t.
We have jobs. Travel isn’t cheap. My kids are a handful to deal with. Sometimes things just happen and you’re stuck at home!
But who says you need to put the travel bug on the shelf?
Travel, adventure, and having some sort of understanding of the vastness of the world is part of our everyday lives, too. We continue to teach about and introduce travel and culture, even from home.
From reading books, to doing map puzzles, to learning languages, our hearts and minds are often immersed in worlds way beyond our living room windows.
Whether you’re looking to fill the days stuck at home or simply wanting to introduce new places and cultures for later, you’ll love the suggestions below.
I’m sharing my favorite theme activities, preschool crafts, and DIY adventures so you can travel around the world without leaving your home.
After reaching out, five travel and family bloggers submitted their favorite travel activities for kids. You’ll find their incredible suggestions, as well.
So, go beat the boredom and start sparking that wanderlust with your kids.
Adventure Around the World with these Travel Theme Preschool Activities
Read some travel books.
My librarian years haven’t failed me yet.
I may be home with my kids now, but in a past life, I planned hundreds, if not thousands, of children’s storytimes. I adored taking kids around the world through stories, and then following it up with preschool crafts and on theme activities.
With library books, digital resources, and even materials you may have at home, you can easily recreate a travel themed book-venture.
Reading books about and set around the world is great for prepping your kids – whether they’re in preschool or high school – for an upcoming trip. Even with no travel plans, though, introducing a lesson on a specific country, keeps their views of the world vast!
Teach Kids to Navigate With Analog Wayfinding
Are you dreaming of fun family hikes? Exploring forested trails, splashing through creek…wait, the phone with the trails map just fell in that stream!
Did this dream hike just turn into a nightmare? In a GPS world, adventurous families still go off-grid (sometimes on purpose, sometimes by accident).
Kids of all ages can navigate without digital devices—it’s a life skill best learned before getting lost on a trail. Here are three ways to begin wayfinding:
- Look for Landmarks: In the car or on bike rides, even preschoolers can navigate the way home. Asking “Which way should we go from here? How do you know?” trains them to pay attention to landmarks. Older kids can take on trail-boss responsibilities, in charge of the rout out and back.
- Get Comfortable with Paper Maps: Drawing maps is more than a fun art project—it helps kids internalize spaces. Start small, drawing the neighborhood. Include favorite places—even the dog’s! Work up to reading printed maps symbols and identifying hills and valleys by topo lines.
- Compass Games in the Backyard Develop Orienteering Skills: Start with basic skills like holding the compass flat so the needle floats freely. To find magnetic north, hold the compass straight and turn until the needle points to N (red goes in the shed!) Low-tech geocaches and treasure hunts are a fun way to grow orienteering skills. Most importantly, stash a compass in each backpack, ready for the next real adventure!

Go on a Home Safari
Our DIY home safari adventure was one of my finer ideas as a parent. You know you’re winning when something keeps your kids engaged for more than 20 minutes.
The best part about this adventure, was that I didn’t really need to do much. My son has a safari play set, so we simply pulled it out and highlighted the safari theme with other books and activities.
Some of his favorite add-ons were putting animal stickers on his map and watching a virtual safari on our TV.
Even if you don’t own a safari play set, this is easy to recreate with a few stuffed animals and books or DIY flashcards.
Create a Travel Vision Board
Kids can get excited about travel without ever leaving home by designing a travel vision board. Vision boards are a crafty and creative way to spark kids’ dreams about future fun trips and adventures.
Creating a travel vision board simply consists of cutting out inspiring words and pictures of places you’d like to visit from magazines – or printing some off the internet – and pasting them on to poster board.
My daughter likes to customize her visual creations using crayons, markers or colored pencils, decorating with stickers and glitter, designing borders around each picture and including fun quotes.
Young children may need a little help getting their imagination rolling. You can ask questions like “if you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go? What would you do while there?”
Let children run wild with their ideas. Are they dreaming of an Arctic dogsledding adventure in their future? A visit to a theme park or waterpark? Or maybe a trip to Italy for pizza and gelato?
Whether children tailor their board for ultimate bucket-list destinations or for upcoming family trips, designing a travel vision board helps kids visualize and look forward to future exciting experiences.

Play Travel Related Board Games
One of my favorite indoor activities for young children is to play board games.
A travel-themed board game young children particularly like is Ticket To Ride First Journey. It is suitable for ages 6 and up. You can either purchase the Europe or United States of America map. The goal of the game is to be the first player to complete six Tickets. You complete a Ticket when you have built a continuous line of trains between the two cities printed on your Ticket. The map, pieces and cards are all bright and colorful, which will appeal to young children. It inspires children to travel to and visit different cities in Europe or the United States of America, depending on which version you purchase.
Another favourite travel-themed board game for young children is My First Carcassonne, which is suitable for ages 4 and up. The first player to place all their meeples down wins the game. The game consists of placing a tile down to build the medieval city of Carcassonne in France. You can place a meeple down when you close a street. The tiles and meeples are also bright and colourful like Ticket to Ride First Journey. The tiles fit together no matter the placement, which makes it easy for little ones.
Playing board games is a fantastic travel activity to do at home with young children.

Learn a New Language
Learning a new language has never been as popular as it is right now! Experts all agree that the younger children learn a new language, the more easily they will learn it fluently and remember it throughout their lives.
Not only will it strengthen their brains, but it will also help them to understand other cultures. If your family can’t travel, you might as well learn.
Fortunately, there are several ways to help your children learn a language – even if you don’t know the language yourself. There are tons of apps out there for a variety of age groups.
My personal favorite is Mondly Kids. It covers a multitude of languages and uses sounds and pictures (in addition to words) so children who can’t read can still learn. This would be good for children about 4 to 10, but I have known 2-year-olds who could have figured it out. If you help them learn how to use the app for a few levels, most kids will pick it up pretty quickly.
Different apps have different features, so be sure to explore your options. Any type of helpful app will have music, stories, or videos in another language. YouTube has tons of options, but there may be better apps for specific languages.
While immersing your child in the language (without any English words during learning), bilingual videos also have their perks. Since children under 3 are still learning English, it doesn’t hurt to sing songs that teach them words for both languages.

Camp in Your Living Room
Did you not grow up setting up a living room tent and begging your parents to let you sleep in it?
Why not set up a simple home tent (use a sheet if you don’t have a play tent) and transport your family to the mountains? Maybe your kids prefer the National Parks? Or the Grand Canyon.
We’ll pack some “camping” snacks, roll out our sleeping bags, read books and listen for animal sounds. Set your TV for theme-appropriate background noise!
Take a Virtual Theme Park Ride or Tour
Theme parks are a special place, especially for kids! No other destination combines so many varieties of fun – thrill rides and rollercoasters, playgrounds, candy, shows and live entertainment, animals, and the chance to meet your favorite characters in person. When we aren’t able to visit our favorite theme parks, we can experience some from the comfort of our own couch.
Make sure nobody suffers from motion sickness before proceeding .
To watch as a family, access YouTube through your smart TV, or project your laptop screen to your TV. Google has plenty of tips on how to do this if you have any trouble.
If you have a VR headset, there are many options to install virtual rollercoaster apps, which are heaps of fun, but only one person can use these at a time. If you don’t have one, there are plenty of options to play along with just your TV or computer.
Disney teamed up with Google to create a street-view virtual visit of their parks, allowing you to walk through. You can choose which direction you want to go, look from side-to-side, and, just like always, there are crowds. You may even spot some of your favorite characters around the park! Start here and just use your mouse to click through!
If you want something slightly more thrilling, there are rollercoasters you can virtually ride! To make it as realistic as possible, try clearing some space in front of the T.V, and put some chairs in front, side-by-side.
Here are a few YouTube options to get you started:
- Virtual Disney World
- Canada’s Wonderland
- Universal Studios
Best of all, there are no crowds, and lunch won’t cost a fortune! Until we can go back, enjoy these virtual theme park experiences.

Cook an Ethnic Recipe
Sometimes I serve Ikea Swedish meatballs from a bag and call it a Scandinavian delicacy. Other times, we make curry from scratch.
My kids love ethnic food, because they’re exposed to it frequently. It’s one of my favorite family travel benefits . Recently, I’ve started trying to teach about the places certain foods come from.
This doesn’t work for boxed mac and cheese, though. Sorry.
We’ll talk about where a certain food comes from and if we’ve been there or are planning on it soon. Sometimes we read stories from that area and look at maps.
Personally, cooking is one of my favorite activities and I love being able to transport my family anywhere around the world right from my kitchen.
It makes trying new food fun and gets them excited to travel. My toddler also loves helping me in the kitchen…then eating his creations!
If you’re enjoying these at home travel activities, check out our Travel Gifts for Kids . Many gift suggestions are geared towards preschool kids, and are ideal for venturing around the world when you can’t travel!
Around the World Theme Preschool Crafts
Anytime my kids have a chance to create something or get a little messy, their day is made!
With simple craft supplies, household products, and recyclables we’ve created instruments from around the world, masks, toy airplanes, nature mandalas, binoculars, and many more preschool theme crafts!
A quick online search will yield more global crafts and activities like printable passports and flags, along with an endless supply of free coloring pages.
Typically, when we spend some time learning, reading, or planning an at home adventure, I’ll search for related crafts and activities to keep my toddler engaged and busy!
We have an entire Pinterest board dedicated to learning about and introducing travel at home. You can find our favorite travel theme crafts, preschool books, and other fun activities to take you and your kids around the world.
What activities and adventures take you around the world? How do you keep the wanderlust alive for your kids when you’re stuck at home. How do you prep them for an upcoming trip, whether it’s tomorrow or in ten months? I’d love to hear your favorite at home travel ideas.
Save these travel theme activities and around the world adventures for later. Pin to Pinterest:
The at home safari sounds like a ton of fun! Connor already gets super excited to go see his Winnie the Pooh, so I’m sure he’ll love finding animals around the house as he gets older! I like the idea of camping inside your house or in the yard too. I remember doing that as a kid!
Awe that’s so cute!! Camping inside is always a hit..it’s like they’re allowed to make a mess!!

A mini-lesson in world cultures.
Updated March 14, 2018
Ok, I’ll admit, my daughter’s bedroom doubled as Persia, and the dining room was South America, but we had a great trip nonetheless! I prepared the suitcase craft the night before, and we assembled it in the morning.
For more ideas for teaching about different countries, please see my post World Cultures Lesson Ideas – Part 1 – For Preschool & Kindergarten .

Vacation and Travel Preschool Lesson Plan: Teaching Ideas & Activities
- Sonal Panse
- Categories : Preschool lesson plans, worksheets & themes for year round learning
- Tags : Early education information for teachers, parents & caregivers
Traveling can be a mind-broadening experience, especially for young children. In this travel lesson, we will take a look at things preschoolers may need to learn about travel, as well as let them imagine the possibilities!
- A well illustrated map
- Picture postcards of places around the world
- A computer with Internet
- Used or Play tickets - Plane, bus, train
- Writing paper
- Drawing sheets
- Colors - markers, pens, pencils, water-colors
Begin by talking about the different types of vacation travel.
- People travel by themselves, with their friends, with their families, in organized tour groups, etc.
- During their vacation, people may stay with friends and family, stay in hotels and hostels, stay in hired cabins, cottages, houses or flats, stay on houseboats or cruise ships, or stay in tents.
- People may take their vacation at the seaside, in the mountains, in the desert, in other cities and towns, in other countries.
- People may stay in one place or they may travel from place to place in the course of their vacation.
- People may lie around and do nothing, or they may participate in different activities like swimming, boating, playing games, horse-riding, surfing, trekking, etc.
Talk about the reasons for vacation travel. Reasons can vary from wanting a holiday from work and school, from wanting to visit friends and family, from wanting to visit places they have never been to, from wanting to visit famous museums, monuments and parks, etc.
Talk about different modes of travel. People travel by car, by bus, by truck, by tram, by train, by plane, by ship, by boat, by scooter, by bicycle, by bullock cart, etc. In olden times, people often needed to travel from place to place on foot. This is still necessary in some remote parts of the world.
Talk about the travel the preschoolers have done so far. Have they traveled out of their town or city, or within it? Where have they traveled to - visiting the grandparents, visiting other relations and friends, etc.? Have they traveled by car, by train, by plane and so on? What was the experience like?
Talk about how it is important to make a plan before setting out to travel. Making a plan helps you to know:
- Where you want to go.
- What you want to do.
- What you can do in the number of days you have.
- The things you can see.
- The way you can get from one place to another.
- The money you will require.
- The things you will need like clothes, shoes, toothbrush, handkerchief, passport, bags, books to read, cell phone, etc.
- The number of things you should take so your bag won’t be too heavy to carry.
- The type of food and drink you can get.
- Whom to contact, what to do and how to better deal with emergencies like losing your luggage, your money, getting lost yourself, missing your bus or plane, etc.
Talk about the things one might see on one’s travels - Castles, Palaces, Museums, Towers, Buildings, Statues, Bridges, Zoos, Parks, Lakes, Mountains, etc. Different people, different landscapes, different trees, different animals, different birds, etc. Talk about how different places may have different climates, different culture, different languages, etc.
Talk about the benefits of vacation travel:
- Seeing new things
- Meeting new people
- Learning new things
- Spending time with family and friends
- Resting and relaxing
Look at an illustrated map, showing national or international places.
Show the preschoolers picture postcards of well-known and not-so-well-known places around the world.
Show the preschoolers bus, train, plane tickets.
Use Google Earth to visit different places virtually.
What Else to Do
Read stories and poems on travel. R. L. Stevenson’s ‘From a Railway Carriage’ is a nice one.
Talk about animals, birds and insects that travel. See ‘ Why Monarch Butterflies Migrate ’ here on Bright Hub.
Hand out drawing sheets and colors, and ask the preschoolers to draw their travels. They can also, if they like, illustrate a pretend trip to a faraway land.
See ‘ How to Use a Preschool Vacation Theme in the Classroom ’ here on Bright Hub.

Transportation Theme Activities for Preschool
A Transportation preschool transportation theme is a traditional topic in most preschools but why?
Preschoolers love activities that include playing with all types of transportation theme items including vehicles such as cars, trucks, airplanes and more.
This topic is part of their everyday lives.
They drive or walk to school, have seen or ridden on a bus or taken an airplane to go on vacation.
This natural interest in transportation is something they experience in their lives brings life to the theme and your preschool classroom.
Preschool children learn through play.
Providing hands-on activities in all of the Interest Learning Centers in your classroom with a theme in mind will draw them in to play and learn!
This Transportation Theme page is filled with preschool activities and ideas for all areas of your classroom.
Let the Transportation Theme planning begin!
You can either scroll down through this page to see all of the preschool activities for your transportation theme or click the link below to go to specific preschool activity types you are looking for.
Transportation Theme Art
Traffic Lights
Materials Needed: Cardboard egg cartons (in sections of 3); craft sticks; paint; clay
Provide red, yellow and green paint. Place craft stick into bottom. Once painted, place stick into a piece of clay as a base. These are great to use with cars, trucks etc. or in the block area!
Monster Trucks! Thank you Lisa B. for this idea!
Monster trucks! My children can't get enough of reading about them and playing with them. We did an art activity with paint. They drove the trucks through the paint onto the paper. They loved it! Also, they like to drive the trucks through shaving cream mixed with brown paint! I haven't done this yet, but, I thought if I used a Monster truck template, I could have one of each color. They could count them also!
Hot Air Balloons
Materials Needed: Round balloons, watered down glue (or other paper mache recipe you like), strips of newspaper, colored tissue paper, yarn, colored paper or strawberry baskets
Help children (if needed) to cover balloon with at least one layer of newspaper. It may be easier if you encourage them to completely "paint" the balloon with the glue or mache liquid and then cover with strips of news paper and then "paint" over the newspaper.
(Preschoolers tend to give up quickly when they have to pick newspaper out of a tray of glue and water. It is a lot of fine motor activity for them all at once.). After a layer is covering balloon, encourage them to place colored tissue paper over the newspaper and re"paint" with glue.
Let dry for several days. Pop balloons (favorite part in our classroom!). Hole punch a hole on each side of the opening of balloon shape. Using yarn, Tie strawberry baskets onto balloon shape (or have children paint paper to make their own baskets and tie them on).
Extension: Hang Hot Air Balloons in classroom. A great story to read before making these is Altuna Baboona or read the story after they are hung up (or both!). Encourage the children to tell a story of where they would go in their hot air balloon!
Additional Extension: Make a class book of the children's hot air balloon stories complete with a picture of them holding their balloon!
I Think I Can
Materials Needed: Construction paper; watercolor paint; pre-cut wheels; pre-cut conversation bubbles that say "I think I can!" Ask them where they would travel to if they could go ANYWHERE they wanted! Write down their answers on a piece of paper for later reference! You are going to make these into trains later!
Have the construction paper out with the paints and just let the children paint! When they are done and dry, give them wheels to glue on as well as a conversation bubble.
Write down on each child's train where they said they'd like to go!
Use these to make a classroom book to read over and over throughout the year labeled "Where we'd like to go!". Use these to make a "border" on your classroom wall or bulletin board.
Variation: Instead of asking where they'd like to go, talk with them while they are painting about what they'd like to learn, or be when they grow up!
Write down what they say for your own reference. When these are dry, add wheels to the bottoms and the "I think I can" bubble to each one. Hang them on a wall or bulletin board with a large title called "WE KNOW WE CAN" or "WHAT WE WANT TO BE WHEN WE GROW UP" or some other saying.

Transportation Theme Block Center Ideas
Home Made Blocks and Transportation Theme Vehicles
Collect boxes of different sizes (from families or your own recycling from home!) including cereal and other food boxes, gift boxes, etc.
Wrap them in brown and colored paper.
Encourage children to make them into houses (by drawing windows and doors), transportation theme vehicles and boats (by drawing wheels and windows for cars and trucks).
Help the children use them along with the blocks already in your block area to build cities and towns. Don't forget to add an airport or lake!
Transportation Theme Circle Time Ideas
Circle Time is such a great time for children to learn the social skills of being together as a large group AND to learn more about your Transportation Theme!
How We Travel
Materials Needed: Large chart paper; Marker
Prepare in advance a large piece of paper separated by lines into 2 columns, with the left column being not as wide as the right column. Label the chart How We Travel
In the right column, draw pictures (or glue on pictures) of different ways the children might travel (car, truck, van, bus, horse, airplane, etc.).
During Circle Time, show them the chart and read the label. Ask if any of the children have ever traveled in a car. Write down the names of the children who have in the right hand column. Continue this for each mode of travel you have listed.
Extension: Help your children with name recognition by preparing in advance pieces of paper with each child's name on it. Make enough name tags for each child to be able to put their name next to every mode of travel (just in case they have traveled on each type!). When asking if they have ever traveled by car, have them glue or tape their name next to the picture of the car. Continue for each mode.
Extension: Add a third column to the right of where the children's names will be. When done with this activity, have the children help you count the names next to each mode of travel and write that number in the box to the right. When completed, ask which row has more (or ask, which is more 10 children or 6 children). This extension activity can be done later in the day or on another day rather than all at one sitting.
Show and Tell Materials Needed: Transportation Theme Toy or vehicle from home from each child.
Send a letter home in advance announcing "Transportation Show and Tell Day" to the families.
Ask children to place their Show and Tell item behind their backs. Take turns asking each child to show the item they brought in and encourage them to tell their friends about it.
Note: Some children are not sure what to say! This is a GREAT opportunity to help them to develop their group speaking and social skills. Our goal for Show and Tell is for the children to share information about something of theirs in order to get to know each other better! A personal Show and Tell time is great for this! However, if there is concern about bringing items in from home (such as concerns that it will get lost or broken), rather than ask families to send something in, take the children on a Show and Tell hunt in your classroom and have them choose ONE transportation item from the classroom to bring to Circle Time to talk to their friends about.
Be ready with some questions such as "Does it work in the water? Does it have wheels? Where would you go if you could travel on that?"
Additional Note: Some children will forget to bring in a show and tell, it's inevitable! Encourage that child to choose their favorite transportation item from the classroom. When it is their turn, in addition to questions about the item itself, ask why they like to play with that one in school.
Flannel Board Sorting
This activity is much like the Water, Land, Sky activity listed in this section.
Materials Needed: Flannel pieces of transportation theme vehicle items; flannel board
You can make pieces from felt in advance. You can also laminate pictures of items and glue a piece of flannel to the back. Some teachers have found that using a piece of a fabric softener sheet on the back works just as good as felt and is less expensive!
Show the flannel board. Teach them spatial relationship words by explaining that the sky is on the TOP, the BOTTOM is the road or ground and the SIDE (add some blue for water to the side) is the water.
Give each child a flannel piece. Take turns asking what item they have and invite them to place their piece on the board where it would travel. Ask them "Would your airplane go in the air on TOP, on the ground in the MIDDLE or in the water on the SIDE?
Extension: Make a duplicate set of what you have. Give out one piece of one set to the children and keep the duplicate set. Show one of your pieces. Ask the children what it is. Ask them WHERE it should go on the board. Place it on the board. Then invite the child with the matching piece to come up and place their piece NEXT TO yours.
Extension: Place the board and the pieces in your Library Area for the children to use during Center Activity Time.
Snack Recipe Ideas to Cook Up for Your Transportation Theme
Cooking with children helps develop their math skills and helps them to learn how to follow directions.
It also allows for some great conversation!
Ask many questions while cooking with your children to encourage conversation!
Be sure to ask specific transportation theme questions while making these fun snacks!
Ingredients and Items needed: Apple, slice of cheese, mini pretzel stick.
Core the apple, do not slice. Slice the apple into 4 quarters. Slice cheese into 4 triangles.
Have children place a pretzel stick into the apple quarter. Wrap a cheese triangle around the top of the pretzel for a sail.
Cracker Wheels
Ingredients and Items needed: Round crackers, cheese spread or cream cheese, a red pepper sliced into thin strips, plastic knives.
Supervise the children as they cut the pepper strip into small pieces. Encourage them to spread the cheese onto crackers and then sprinkle some cut peppers on!
Talk about what they have learned during your Transportation Theme as you eat snack together!
Ingredients & Items needed: Graham crackers, cheese spread or cream cheese, apples (red, yellow and green), plastic knives.
Cut apples so that you cut 4 sides off of the core. Then cut into circle shapes. Give each child a whole graham cracker (rectangle) for the traffic light post.
Supervise them as they spread cheese onto cracker.
Give each child one red, yellow and green apple circle to place on the cheese in the order of traffic lights.
Banana Boats
Ingredients & Items needed: Bananas, yogurt, small cups, plastic knives, spoon.
Help children to cut the banana in half both lengthwise and width wise. They should spoon yogurt into their cup and then place 2 pieces of banana on each side of the cup.
Travel Trail Mix
Ingredients and Items needed: cheerios, raisins, pretzels and other healthy snacks each in their own bowls; a spoon in each bowl; plastic baggies
Children place one spoonful of each item into their Travel Snack Baggies
Covered Wagon Wheel Pancakes
Ingredients: For pancakes: 2 cups flour, pinch of salt, 2 well beaten eggs and milk; banana slices and strawberry slices. For butter: 1 pint of whipping cream, glass jar with cover (such as a baby food jar).
Make the pancakes with the children. Have children each put an ingredient in. They all love to be part of the cooking process! If necessary, due to the number of children, simply have each child add 1 spoonful of the flour into a bowl until they have all had a turn! With the children, stir the ingredients until smooth. Spray or oil a pan and cook pancakes for snack.
Make butter! Pour whipping cream into a glass jar (only fill jar 1/4 to 1/2 full). Cover jar and shake! Be sure all the children have a turn and be sure to help as well. As cream solidifies, pour out some of the excess liquid and then continue shaking. It will eventually become a yellow solid of butter! Add a bit of salt to flavor if desired.
Have children decorate their own pancake with the fruit. Encourage the children to spread some of their home made butter on their pancake and top with the fruit!
Bubbly Drink
Combine 12 ounces of frozen apple juice concentration, 3 cups of water and 1 liter of club soda. Great way to cool off after a car wash!

Transportation Theme Ideas to Transform Your Dramatic Play Area
Vacation Station
Materials needed: Chairs for an airplane, bus, boat or train; pretend food and trays, backpacks, suitcases, extra clothing; paper and markers to make tickets; hold punchers to punch tickets as passengers board.
DMV (Department of Motor Vehicles)
Turn your dramatic play area into the DMV! Hang a chart with alphabet letters on the wall for eye tests. Have a list of questions on a clip board (such as How old are you? What color are your eyes? What is your first name? What is your last name?, etc.). Set up a picture booth (hang a piece of fabric on the wall, a chair near the wall and a pretend camera to take pictures (or a real one for you to take their pictures!). Provide a piece of paper for their Preschool License. Develop it to look similar to your state's driver's license.
Before "approving" a child for a license, have them complete an obstacle course either with a car made from a box (see Gas Station above in this section) or with a small, toy car in their hands. Set up a course that challenges the gross motor areas you are working on (jumping 2 inches over a rope, crawl through a tunnel, balance on a beam, catch a ball, etc.).
Travel Agency
Obtain travel brochures from local travel agencies. Also look for maps and other items for your Transportation Theme dramatic play area! While you're at it, ask the travel agency manager if they have a staff member that would come to your preschool group to talk about their job and bring brochures, etc. If you are willing to send some information home from the agent, they should be willing to donate their time!
Set up your area with a table for a desk, clipboards, pictures, pens, pencils, paper, perhaps a keyboard that someone is not using for them to "type" into.
Also provide paper and markers/crayons for the children to make tickets and their own brochures!
Transportation Theme Ideas for Your Easel-- More Than Just Painting!
Materials Needed: Tempera Paint and brushes. Instructions: NONE!
That's right, none! Remember that just because we have a set transportation theme for a week or more, does not mean that ALL activities have to revolve around it! Children at this age are beginning to experiment with representational pictures, but are not quite there yet! Be sure to allow activities where they can just explore and use materials such as painting just to paint and cutting paper just to cut paper!
Transportation Theme Large Group Games To Help Your Preschoolers Build Their Muscles While Having Fun Together!
Stay on the Road!
Use chalk to draw roads for the children to ride their ride-on bikes or cars on. This can be done outside or inside. If you do not have child size ride on cars or bikes, have the children drive toy transportation theme vehicles within the roads.
Extension: Provide stop and go signs, have one of the children become a traffic office to stop traffic and let them go again!
Musical Transportation Theme Chairs In advance, make a set of papers with transportation theme items on them. Make 2 of each. Include pictures of cars, trucks, buses, horses, people walking etc.
Place the same number of chairs back to back that there are children in your group.
Place one card in each chair. Give a matching card to each of the children.
Explain that when the music is on, they should all walk around the chairs and look for their matching card, but don't touch it, keep walking. Tell them that when you stop the music, you will yell "Time to Park!" and they should find the matching card in the chair and sit on that chair.
Show them the direction you want them to go when the music is playing or they are walking (so they don't bump into each other!).
Start the music and play. Play as many times as there is interest. This is a NON competitive game. Competition at this age can be unhealthy. The purpose of games at this age should be to promote social skills and following directions, not "winning" or being "better"...promote teamwork!
Extension: Instead of using chairs and music, try no music and blowing a train whistle when they are to find their chairs.
This game can be played outside or inside. When outside, instead of moving chairs outside, draw circles with chalk for them to sit in!
Transportation Theme Ideas for Your Library & Literacy Area
Books Suggestions
(I LOVE Amazon, and some of the links below will take you to the Amazon website. If you do choose to purchase yours through Amazon, they do send me a few cents--which supports my coffee habit! )
Library Wall Transportation Theme Decor
Hang pictures on the wall of different modes of transportation including walking, horses, hot air balloons, trucks, etc.
Obtain brochures from local car dealerships, travel agencies as well as on the internet.
Transportation Theme Activities To Help Your Preschoolers Develop Their Small Muscles and Their Math Skills!
Transportation Theme Vehicles
Provide different types of small manipulatives that can be used to make vehicles or cities! This may include Bristle Blocks , brick blocks , K'nex , Magnet Blocks , etc.
Transportation Lacing
Provide the children with Transportation Theme shapes that are hole punched around the edges and yarn (tie a knot on one end of the yarn). This is great practice for using their small muscles and helps build eye-hand coordination.
These cards can be purchases or you can make them yourself. Make a shape the transportation theme shape on a piece of thin cardboard (the back of a pad of paper or notebook covers work well) or stock paper. Punch holes around the edges no more than 1/4 inch apart from each other. Laminate the cards.
For lacing string, shoe laces work great! Or, you can make your own by using yarn and taping one end to make it easier for the yarn to go through the hole.
Your Turn, My Turn
Materials Needed: Manila folder, transportation theme vehicles for moving pieces, rolling dice.
In advance, prepare the manila folder. Open the folder and draw lines across the folder (across the shorter side) all the way down the folder, about 1 inch apart.
Also prepare a dice. cover the dots that have 3-6 on them and have only dots with 1 and 2 on them.
This is a 2 person game. The purpose is to work on small hand muscles, eye-hand coordination while practicing taking turns.
To Play: Each of the 2 children should choose a Transportation Theme manipulative (car, boat, etc.). One child rolls the dice and moves his car that many rows toward the other child. The second child then rolls the dice and moves her item that many rows toward the other child. During play, remind them whose
turn it is. "Your turn. Now it's his turn."
Extension: Use a dice with colors instead and tape colored strips of paper on the rows. Extension: Make a homemade spinner with numbers instead of using dice.
Vehicle Patterns
Make cards of transportation theme items such as cars, trucks, buses, children walking, horses, etc. For patterning, you will need multiple of each type (10 of each). Laminate them for durability. Encourage the children to make patterns with them (car, car, truck; car, truck, bus, car, truck, bus)
Extension: Take 2 of each type out of the set you made. Play a matching game with them with the children.
Extension: Add felt or velcro to the backs of the cards and have them out near a flannel board.
Variation: Rather than make cards for patterning, use transportation theme plastic sorters to make the above patterns.
Match the Car with the Garage
In advance, turn identical small boxes into matching garages (for example, clean empty juice boxes or milk cartons with brown paper. Tape numbers or number words on each garage. Tape corresponding numbers on toy cars.
Encourage the children to drive the cars into the correct garage.
Transportation Vehicle Sorting
Provide a large assortment of transportation theme items and bowls. Allow children to sort by the different attributes that they see. You can upgrade this by putting names to each bowl. Some ideas are to sort by:
Land, Sky and Water vehicles
Items with wheels and without wheels
With wings and without wings
Transportation Theme Music & Movement Activities to Get Your Preschoolers Movin' and Groovin'!
Red Light-Green Light...With A Twist!
Play a game of "Freeze Dancing" with them using traffic light information!
Materials Needed: CD/Cassette Player and music; A piece of red paper, yellow paper and green paper; a large open space.
Talk with the children about traffic lights (red means stop, green means go, yellow means to go really slow..ready to stop). Tell the children they will be dancing to the music but need to watch you (you are the traffic light!). When you put up the Green paper, they should dance, when you put up the Red paper, they should Stop (Freeze).
Variation: Have songs on a CD that vary in tempo: some slow and some fast. Tell the children to dance to the beat- some will be fast and some will be slow. When the music stops, they should Stop (freeze!). Play the music. If it is fast, hold up a green paper, hold up yellow if it is slow.
Stop the music now and then for them to freeze and hold up the Red paper. When playing the CD, only play each song for about 15 seconds and then change it!
Play as interest continues. We have also added dancing scarves or pieces of fabric for them to sway and dance with during this.
Transportation Theme Ideas for Your Sand & Water Table
Let's Drive!
Materials Needed: Cars, trucks, any vehicles with wheels!; Mud or shaving cream.
Children love to push these items on or through mud or shaving cream in your Sand and Water table! Comment on the tracks they make. Ask where their vehicle is going and what it is doing!
Sink or Float
Materials Needed: Water; transportation vehicles (Find vehicles that sink as well as vehicles that float.)
Give each child a vehicle. Take turns asking each child if they think their vehicle will sink or float? Invite them to put their vehicle in the water table to find out. Once all the children have had a turn, allow them to just play at the water table with the vehicles.
Extension: Make a rebus chart (picture chart) of the vehicles you will be using. Using a large piece of paper, make 3 columns. Label the first column TRANSPORTATION MODE. Draw a picture in this first column of each mode of transportation (I'm not a great artist so I either take pictures of each item, print the picture and glue it in the column or print out clip art!). Label the second column SINK and label the third column FLOAT
Ask the children if they think the first item pictured will sink or float. Count aloud how many children think it will sink and list that number next to the picture under the SINK column. Then ask how many children think it will float and list that number next to the item under the FLOAT column.
Drop the item in the table (or have a child do it). Ask if it sank or floated and discuss their guesses!
*Many children will "vote" twice because this is a new concept for them! A way to avoid this is to ask all the children who think it will sink to stand on "this side" of the water table if they think it will float to stand on the other side. Then count the children and list on the chart.
You may want to laminate this chart before using and use dry erase markers on it. Then you can use it each time you have a transportation theme.
Transportation Theme Science Activities for Your Preschool Scientists in Training!
Oceanic Bottles
Fill a plastic bottle plastic bottle (we use smaller bottles such as 1 liter bottles. The 2 liter bottles are difficult for the children to manipulate.
Fill 2/3 of the way with blue colored water and the other 1/3 with mineral oil. Hot glue the cap on.
Show the children how to move it to make waves in the bottle.
Extension. Use bottles with a large mouth opening (like a juice bottle). Fill 3/4 of the way with water and color with blue food coloring. Add sand. Add small transportation theme items. Hot glue cover on and let the children search for the items by moving it around!
Air Balloon
Materials needed: Small plastic bottle, 1 tablespoon of sugar, water, 1 packet of yeast, one small round balloon.
Put sugar into bottle.
Fill 1/3 of the way with water.
Add the packet of yeast.
Mix (lightly shake until mixed).
Cover bottle with the balloon.
Watch bottle over the next 1/2 hour.
Note: The yeast consumes the sugar and then creates carbon dioxide gas which fills the balloon!
Writing Activity Ideas for Your Preschool Classroom's Transportation Theme
Transportation Theme Class Book
Materials Needed: Magazines, scissors, glue sticks, construction paper, markers or crayons.
Children cut out modes of transportation. They glue them on a piece of paper. Ask them about their pictures and write down exactly what they say. Have them write their name on their page. Staple all of the children's pages together to make a Class Book.
Extension: Glue a picture of the child on their page. Place the book in the Library area. Children love to read books with pictures of themselves!
Miscellaneous Activities for Your Preschool Classroom's Transportation Theme!
Transportation Theme Field Trips
Local Service Station
Contact a local gas/mechanic service station to plan out a field trip. Also, ask if they have any old hoses, spark plugs, etc. that can be cleaned and used in for the children to explore in the classroom perhaps in the Science Center.
Airport Visit
Is there an airport near you? Small, municipal airports can be a great visit, especially if you can time it so that the children can see some airplanes or helicopters land!
Horse Stable
Plan a visit to a local Horse stable or a local community member who owns a horse.
Visiting the farm is not just for your Farm Theme! A lot can be seen with a Transportation Theme in mind! Of course you will visit the farm animals while you are there! However, in advance, speak with the farmer or owner of the farm to arrange having the vehicles they use at the farm including tractors, wagons, horses and their pickup truck!
Transportation Theme Classroom Visitors
There are many opportunities with a Transportation theme for visitors to your classroom! Survey parents for opportunities as well as your local community!
Some ideas for visitors:
Truck Driver
Police Office
Fire Truck Driver
Airplane or Helicopter Pilots
Horse Owner

The Organized Mom Life
An organized approach to pregnancy, baby, and beyond
Around the World Preschool Unit
I was so excited do an “around the world” preschool unit with my 4 year old, Kate, to learn more about different countries around the world.
She has a globe, and is always asking questions about different countries, so this was the perfect thing for us to do together!
I searched the internet for activity ideas and book suggestions, and put together a 15 day unit where we learned about a different country every day.
Take a look!
Note: As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. This post contains affiliate links, meaning that if you choose to click through and make a purchase, I will receive a small commission at no extra cost to you.
Around the world preschool
Here’s what our weekly plan looked like. Each day we explored a different country by finding it on a map, learning about kids from that country, reading a picture book that has to do with a tradition, a story, or a part of the culture in that country, and doing some kind of an activity- either a craft, a recipe, or some kind of guided play.
Download the plans
I created a 6 page printable plan, with links to the picture books and activity ideas that we used each day.
Our unit included 15 countries, which, of course, is just a small part of our globe. So I decided to include a blank template for you as well. That way, you can customize the plans to include any other countries that you want to study.
I also included a master supply list, and a sample schedule, going into a little more detail about what we did during each day of this preschool unit.
P.S. If you love these plans, be sure to check out my printable preschool planner as well!
Download the printable plans here , or scroll down to read more about our experience:
What we used
Here are some of the books and supplies that we loved using during this unit:
Pretend passports and tickets
On the first day of our around the world preschool unit, we created these pretend passports. It was so fun to add the stamp for each country as we learned about it.
This kid-friendly international cookbook
This is the best kid-friendly international cooking book. It even includes a little passport and stickers of each country’s flag at the end.
So far we have really enjoyed every recipe we’ve made, which is saying something for my somewhat-picky eaters!
Our favorite atlas for kids
This is the atlas we have, and it’s great. We like to look through all the maps and pictures.
The Children Just Like Me book
We loved this book! It was so fun to look at pictures of kids from each of the countries we were studying, and find out a little bit about what their lives look like, what their families are like, what their homes look like, and what they like to do.
These printable coloring pages for each country
This website has fantastic coloring pages for many of the countries that we studied in this unit. They made great quiet time activities for us.
And, of course, a stack of engaging picture books from our library!
We found so many great new books to read during this unit. Scroll down to see exactly which books we picked. (Although you could easily substitute a different book if your library doesn’t have one of them.)
Book list by country
Introduction: how to make an apple pie and see the world, india: grandma and the great gourd, china: noodle magic, japan: yoko’s paper cranes.
The ultimate preschool planner
Dozens of colorful planner pages to help you stay organized as you teach preschool at home:
- 4 different planning page options
- Weekly theme planner
- Schedule planner
- Evening, morning, and preschool routine planner
- To do list, library check-out list, supply list, notes page
- 2 choices of calendar pages
England: A Walk in London
Italy: papa piccolo, tanzania: we all went on safari, greece: aesop’s fables, argentina: the magic bean tree, australia: don’t call me bear, ireland: jamie o’rourke and the big potato, zambia: the tortoise’s gift, russia: masha & the bear, israel: everybody says shalom, germany: this is munich, sample schedule.
Here’s one sample of how your preschool time might look if you’re following this program. But feel free to rearrange things to make it work for you!
1. Introduce the daily country
Start with a simple introduction to the country that you’ll be learning about today. Here are a few ideas:
- Give your child a printed plane, train, or cruise ticket , and pretend you’re getting ready to take a trip.
- Find each country on your globe or in your atlas .
- Find each country in Children Just Like Me and talk about the pictures that your child is interested in.
- Watch a short video about each country (or a prominent landmark or city in that country.)
Read the picture book listed, and talk about it.
3. Activity
Daily activities include arts and crafts, recipes, and opportunities to build, play, and pretend.
4. Optional coloring page
At this point, you can give your child a coloring page to work on , or save it for later. (We use these later in the day, during quiet time.)
5. Passport stamp
End by “stamping” your child’s passport . (They can glue in a small picture of the country that you learned about.)
Supply list
When you download the plans , you’ll also get the supply list below. It includes a book list, general supply list, food ingredient supply list, and a quick list of items to print ahead of time to make everything super simple for you.
I hope you love this unit as much as I enjoyed doing it with my daughter. Feel free to ask any questions you might have in the comments. Have fun!

Fantastic Fun & Learning
Fun learning activities and things to do with kids
Transportation Theme Preschool Activities
By Shaunna Evans Leave a Comment · This content may contain affiliate links.
If your kids love cars, planes, or even trains now is the perfect time to learn all about them! Transportation theme preschool activities can be a fun way to learn about different modes of transportation and how they are used! This theme also presents many opportunities for science exploration and cross-curricular learning.
Here in this planning guide there are some fabulous resources for planning your preschool transportation theme. Most of these activities are designed for kids ages 3 through 5, but many can be modified for younger and older kids as well.
WHY IT’S FUN
While your little ones might not be old enough to drive a car or operate a boat, it’s still fun to pretend to be a train conductor or taxi driver. Transportation theme activities can be done any time of the year, and are a great set of learning activities to do in between some of your seasonal themes. Transportation activities will give your kids a fun way to learn about transportation, so they can learn about everything from the sounds they make to how they move!
WHEN TO TEACH A TRANSPORTATION THEME
There is no set time period to learn about transportation. It’s a great theme to add in when kids are showing an interest, and it can fit in easily between seasonal themes any time of year.
TEACHING TIPS & MAJOR CONCEPTS KIDS WILL LEARN
If you’re planning transportation theme preschool activities there are many possibilities for incorporating meaningful early learning skills.
These are just some of the concepts kids can learn about during a transportation theme:
- Sensory learning
- Cause and effect
- Force and motion
- How transportation works in the real world
- Different modes of transportation
You can also use toy vehicles or LEGO vehicle manipulatives for many learning activities to teach math and literacy concepts.
ITEMS TO COLLECT AND REQUEST IN ADVANCE
If you get parents, friends, and family involved, you can enrich the experience kids have during your preschool transportation theme.
Collect or ask people to help you collect:
- Toy cars, boats, trains, etc.
- LEGO bricks (to build your own vehicles)
You might even invite special guests (or go visit if you can) to come and share about fields and hobbies related to transportation.
You could include:
- Auto mechanic
- Train station worker
- Boating enthusiast

Around the World Lesson Plan Activities
Teaching your preschoolers about the world is not only fun, but also a great way to expose them to different cultures and countries. If you’re looking for an effective way to do this, then look no further! Download these around the world preschool activities for and start teaching today! The best part? They’re totally free! Not only are these lessons designed to help your students learn about different parts of the world, but they’re also designed to help them understand different cultures. From cooking traditional dishes to learning about holidays celebrated in other countries, your students will gain a better understanding of cultural differences and how they impact our lives. It’s also important to note that these lessons are designed with sensitivity in mind—they focus on celebrating similarities between cultures rather than emphasizing differences.
FAQ About Teaching an Around the World Preschool Theme
Have questions about teaching an around the world theme? We’ve answered a few questions for you so you can rock these around the world activities in your preschool classroom!
For preschoolers, the concept of around the world can be a little abstract. Developmentally , preschoolers are insular. They see others as just like them. They have many similarities and many differences, and both those should be celebrated. It’s important in an around the world theme in preschool to teach little learners that children live all over the world. You can use a world map or globe to describe this.
Like all well-planned preschool lesson plans, an around the world theme should include literacy and math activities, as well as sensory, art, dramatic play, and even science activities. It’s important to read plenty of children’s books that talk about other countries and cultures, and even books describing holidays around the world. Be sure to check out our highest recommended children’s book for this theme.
An around the world preschool theme offers so much opportunity to be creative. In this theme, we built pyramids out of paper cups , built the longest wall in our block center , explored foreign money in a sensory bin , and even “visited” a world market in our dramatic play center .
Important Info about these Around the World Lesson Plans
These around the world lesson plans for preschoolers are just one theme in a set of over 40 that will become a part of my free Learn At Home Preschool Lesson Plans.
The Learn at Home Preschool Activity Plans are a set of free activity plans you can use to teach your preschooler at home. Each set of lesson plans is centered around a weekly theme and includes a minimum of 16 activities that can be done throughout the week. They are designed to be done at home with parents, but many preschool teachers are using these lesson plans, too! Just glance over the lessons each day, gather the very few materials needed, and you’re ready to go! All the preschool learning activities are quick and easy to set up , requiring very little (if any at all) prep and only require the most basic of household materials. This makes them especially easy for parents to implement…and this makes preschool teachers happy, too! These activities also work wonderfully in the classroom, and if you’re a preschool teacher who is remotely teaching you can send these lesson plans to your student’s parents.
Get the Convenience Bundle!
Yes, these really are free preschool lesson plans, but since it’s a part of so many other free weekly lesson plans for preschoolers, I’ve saved you some time and bundled them together.
Activities in Around the World Lesson Plans for Preschoolers
These free preschool lesson plans feature hands-on learning activities in all the most important content areas in preschool. They include cultures and countries preschool activities that cover literacy, math and science, sensory and art, safe online activities, as well as other playful learning activities. Read all about them below.
Literacy Activities for an Around the World Theme
Packing Visual List – It’s time to explore the world! Practice “packing” a suitcase for a trip. What will you need to bring? Help your preschooler draw and write the sounds they hear for the items they’ll bring. Encourage them to think outside the box. Ask questions to help your preschooler determine what things they will need. Do they want to go somewhere cold or hot? How long will they be staying? What kinds of clothing will they need to bring for their location? Will they be doing anything or going anywhere special while there? How about a toothbrush or bedtime stories? Sun Name Craft – Although we live in all corners of the world and have different time zones, we all share the same star: the sun. (Read about how the sun influences culture in this article ). Invite your preschooler to make the sun by cutting a circle out of yellow paper or using a paper plate. Cut out yellow strips of paper for the sun rays and encourage your preschooler to write a letter from their name on the end of each ray. Glue the rays onto the yellow circle to create a bright sun. While creating this literacy craft, talk to your preschooler about different names they know. What are their friends’ names and family members’ names? Talk to your preschooler about how names are special and how they can reflect different cultures and traditions.
Teach your child about different cultures with picture books!
One of the best ways to teach young children about different countries and cultures is by using high quality picture books. Look for children’s books with beautiful illustrations to help bring out the details of the text.
Math and Science Activities for an Around the World Theme
Paper Cup Pyramids – Using small or large plastic cups, invite your child to build a pyramid tower . Show your preschooler the pyramids of Egypt and model stacking the cups on top of each other to make the large pyramid shape. Once done, count together all the cups that you use! Or for an added challenge, have your preschooler first count out 100 plastic cups. (Do this by counting sets of ten cups.) Then challenge your preschooler to build a pyramid that uses all 100 cups. This is the perfect challenge for preschoolers because they will begin building and run out of cups, or have left over cups, and then they have to figure out how to modify their design to use all 100 cups. If you are a kindergarten teacher, this is an amazing STEM activity for the 100th day of school. Beaded Necklace – Cut a piece of string about two feet long and grab some beads of any shape. Invite your preschooler to string beads on their own unique necklace to represent their culture. You can try something like this: red beads represent holiday traditions, blue beads represent favorite family foods, yellow beads represent religious traditions, and so on. This activity can be done on a larger scale with wooden lacing beads and used as an activity during circle time. Each day, add a few beads until you have created a class necklace. Take it one step further and invite your helper of the day be the one to add that day’s bead and wear the necklace that day. Longest Wall STEM Challenge – Grab some blocks and challenge your preschooler to build the longest wall possible. Show some images of long structures like the Great Wall of China. This activity is a surprising challenge because preschoolers have a tendency to want to build up, not sideways. Building the longest wall also requires preschoolers to navigate their creation around obstacles in the way, like chairs and tables. Make this activity even more challenging by adding more parameters, like having to make the wall three blocks high–no more and no less.
Don’t forget picture books that are all about maps!
Maps are one more thing to add to your around the world lesson plans. You’re not limited to traditional maps, either. Try some of these picture books, board games, and puzzles that all feature maps and map skills.
Playful Learning Activities for an Around the World Theme
Skin-Toned Playdough – Mix white playdough with brown and even a little bit of yellow. Do this several times and notice the difference in colors. Share with your preschooler that everyone around the world has different skin colors and that is what makes us special and unique. Cultural Foods – Go to an ethnic market or supermarket and try new foods from various countries. Many ethnic markets will sell prepared or packaged foods, which means that enjoying a meal from another country with your preschooler can be quick and easy. If possible, take your preschooler to the ethnic market and invite him or her to choose a handful of items to try. You might be surprised at what your preschooler ends up liking. Shrimp-flavored chips? Seaweed-flavored candies? Thick, tangy udon noodles? Building with Blocks – Look up buildings on the internet and share the images with your preschooler. Challenge your preschooler to try to build them with blocks. Get creative and build “water” around the base or add people to their block cities. Here are some famous buildings to consider : the Empire State Building, the Taj Mahal, the Leaning Tower of Pisa, the Coliseum, or the White House.
Social-Emotional Activities for an Around the World Theme
All Are Welcome – Go to YouTube and listen to the book All Are Welcome by Alexandra Penfold. Discuss the stunning illustrations and focus on the flags on the lunchroom page. Discuss the significance of the flags and the countries they represent. Encourage your preschooler to think of ways to make everyone always feel welcome, whether they are at school, a playdate, at a restaurant, etc.
Around the World Market – Host your own Around the World Market ! Invite your preschooler to use food containers to sell cultural foods. Most grocery stores have an ethnic aisle where you can purchase food items from various countries around the world. Go shopping together and pick out items that your preschooler is interested in trying. Then, use those food containers to set up a market for dramatic play. If you have a toy register or play money, incorporate it for more hands-on math learning. Encourage your preschooler to sell the items and “make” the food items to serve.
Make Your Around the World Theme Even More Fun!
These around the world themed items are great fun for making your theme more fun and interesting! Kids love using puzzles, maps, and flags to learn more about new countries
Just Plain Fun Activities for an Around the World Theme
Where in the World? – Check the labels on things around the house for where they were made and then look for that place on a map or globe. Go even further by looking up some locations on the internet and looking at images. Use small dot stickers to mark the map for where items were made, and discuss with your preschooler how some countries produce a lot of commodities and why that might be. Hola, Hi, Bonjour – Practice saying hello in different languages with this song . Invite your preschooler to practice saying hello to friends and family in a different language.
Pilot Dramatic Role Play – Encourage your preschooler to pretend to be an airplane pilot and play follow the leader. Set up chairs and sit in the cabin for takeoff and landing. Develop oral language skills by asking your little pilot where everyone is traveling. What things might they see out the window of the airplane as it approaches its destination?
Safe Online Activities for an Around the World Theme
Online Story – Go to YouTube and listen to the book Me On the Map by Joan Sweeney. After reading, invite your preschooler to draw a map of their own room or house. Encourage them to share where they would like to travel on the map or where they like to spend time and why.
Where Are You From? Song – This catchy song introduces new countries and traditions to young children in a simple and fun way.
Schools Around the World – This book and video is a quick view of what school looks like around the world. Invite your preschooler to ask questions about their clothing and their school set-up. How is it similar to their own school experience? How is it different? Which school would they like to spend a day in and why?
Bonus Activity!
Pen pals are an amazing way–like really, really amazing–to learn about other countries and cultures. You can match your preschooler with a pen pal from the United States or from another country with the Kids for Peace: Peaceful Pen Pals Project link below. They will feel like they are meeting children around the world.

Enjoy our travel and transportation preschool and kindergarten activities and ideas for all areas of your classroom. During the holiday season many people will be traveling by land, air, or maybe even water to visit loved ones. Take this opportunity to talk with your children about different ways to travel: by car, by plane, by train, or by boat. Here are some travel ideas to help you get your discussion started.
How do we get there? You will need a puppet, suitcase or bag, toy vehicles (ship, train, airplane, car, truck, motorcycle, boat, rocket ship) Place all the toys in the suitcase. Introduce the puppet and explain to children that the puppet needs their help. "Can you help me? I want to go to _____. How can I get there?' Let children name different ways the puppet can travel to the destination.
Explain that there are different ways we can travel from one place to another. Another word for it is transportation. Explain that you have different modes of transportation inside your suitcase. Let children guess what's inside the suitcase. Remove one toy at a time and discuss the transportation vehicle.
Use the puppet to ask: "Can you help me? I want to go to visit my friend that lives across the town. How can I get there?" "Can you help me? I want to go on vacation on an island. How can I get there?" "Can you help me? I want to go to Africa on vacation. How can I get there?" etc.
Transportation Print or cut out a variety of transportation pictures (airplane, train, ship, bus, car). Have each child choose a picture and name the mode of transportation. Play some music and let children move around the room pretending to be that type of transportation. When the music stops, all children stop in place.
Grandma's ABC Suitcase Game Play this memory game with kids about the items Grandma packed in her suitcase when she went on a trip. Start the game by saying, "Grandma went on a trip and she took along an apple." Explain that each child will add one thing to Grandma's suitcase in alphabetical order. For younger kids, they can just name the next object, for example, "Grandma went on a trip and she took along a basketball." For older kids, encourage them to try to add the new item after reciting all of the previous items, for example, "Grandma went on a trip and she took along an apple, a basketball, and a canary." Continue with the game until all the alphabet letters have been used or play the game a little at a time.
Keep a record of the children's responses for each letter of the alphabet for a class book, Grandma's ABC Suitcase.
Free Travel and Transportation Printables and Coloring Pages
Classroom decoration.
Ride the Train! Take pictures of children's faces and create a train scene. To make the train, use small boxes covered with construction paper and add wheels. Cut out rectangle windows and glue the pictures of the children inside.
Getting Ready for a Trip:
Talk about the clothing we need to pack to go on a trip. Sing the song and act out the movements that go along with the song.
It's Time to go on a Trip, Hurray! (Tune: Old Mac Donald Had a Farm)
by Jolanda Garcia, KidsSoup, Inc.
It's time to go on a trip, Hurray! E I E I O, I pack some socks and fold them tight, E I E I O, With a sock sock here, and a sock sock there, Here a sock, there a sock, everywhere a sock sock. It's time to go on a trip Hurray! E I E I O,
I pack some shirts I pack some pants I pack some shoes I pack some underwear Etc.
Dramatic Play Area
Packing a Suitcase Place some old suitcases and baskets of clothing items in an area of the classroom. Show children how to fold different items of clothing to fit into a suitcase. Provide time for children to pretend in small groups that they are packing for a trip. They can practice folding and packing for dramatic play.
New Going Places and Travel by Train, Airplane, Car, and Ship Activities, Games, and Crafts
The airplane has great big wings: (stretch arms out horizontally) Its propeller spins around and sings, "Vvvvvv!" (spin one arm around) The airplane goes up, (lift up arms) The airplane goes down, (lower arms) The airplane flies high (stretch arms out horizontally again and spin self around) Over the town!
Did You Ever See an Airplane? (Tune: Did You Ever See a Lassie?) Author Unknown
Did you ever see an airplane, an airplane, an airplane Did you ever see an airplane way up in the sky? There are big ones and small ones, And short ones and long ones Did you ever see an airplane way up in the sky?
Did you ever see a train, a train, a train Did you ever see a train on the track? There are big ones and small ones, And short ones and long ones Did you ever see a train on the track?
Did you ever see a ship, a ship, a ship Did you ever see a ship on the water? There are big ones and small ones, And short ones and long ones Did you ever see a ship on the water?
On the Train Movement and Song
Use masking tape to create pretend train tracks on the floor in a circle. Let children follow you around the track as you sing the song. Use a wooden train whistle to add a fun sound effect.
Here Comes the Choo-Choo Train (Tune: Itsy Bitsy Spider)
Here comes the choo-choo train, Puffin’ around the track. First comes the engine, The freight cars are in back. Now the bell is ringing. Now the whistle blows. What a lot of noise it makes, Everywhere it goes.

Montessori Inspiration for Parents and Teachers
Free Travel Printables and Montessori-Inspired Travel Activities
May 15, 2019 By Deb Chitwood 1 Comment
When my kids were growing up, many of our favorite memories as a family were road trip memories . Of course, we loved plane travel, too. I never traveled overseas, though, until my kids were international figure skaters . That opened up a whole new world of travel for us to love.
Now my adult kids are having as much fun traveling with their families as we did when they were growing up. I know that many other families feel the same, so we’re having a travel unit with free printables and activities just in time for summer vacation! We have a new subscriber freebie, too … a Montessori-inspired travel pack! And you don’t need to have a trip overseas to enjoy the activities!
The links are for free travel printables for preschoolers through early elementary. Some of the travel games would work well for older kids, too. To keep my list manageable, I don’t share coloring pages unless a page has a specific educational purpose related to travel. Also, I’m focusing on land, air, and water transportation that could be used on family vacations for the list of free printables. The other category I’m adding is free travel game/road-trip game printables.
At PreK + K Sharing , I have lots and lots of themed activities and presentation ideas.

Montessori Shelves with Travel Themed Activities
Montessori Shelves with Travel-Themed Activities
You’ll find Montessori-inspired travel numbers, letters, and and more (part of my subscriber freebie pack, so just sign up for my email to get the link and password … or check the bottom of your latest newsletter if you’re already a subscriber)
I always have related books available throughout a unit. On the top shelf, I have Transportation Long Ago and Today and Cars, Trains, Ships & Planes . My son-in-law was having lots of fun with the Cars, Trains, Ships & Planes book! It’s an amazing DK book designed for ages 8 on up. My 5-year-old granddaughter, Zoey, loves to look through big books like that, so it’s part of our unit!
On the right side of the shelf ( book on a wooden cookbook holder ), I have National Geographic Kids Little Kids First Big Book of Things That Go . Zoey and I absolutely love this book series for a variety of themes! On the middle shelf, you’ll see the Time for Kids book Take Off! All About Airplanes . I have a number of other travel books in book baskets. Watch for my upcoming post about transportation and travel books for kids!
You could mix your travel themed activities among your shelves according to curriculum area. Or you could have a special travel-themed area something like the one pictured. My shelves this month have a mixture of skill levels. Many of the activities can be adapted for a variety of levels. If you’re a homeschooler, just choose the activities that work for your child’s interests and ability levels. If you don’t have room for all the activities you’d like to do, simply rotate them.
License Plate Game Road Trip Game
Transportation Books with License Plate Game Tray
Free Printable: License Plate Road Trip Game from iMom
Free Printable: U.S. Map from Wikimedia
For the license plate road trip game, I printed out 2 copies of the license plates and an 8½x11″ copy of the map. I cut apart all the license plates from one copy of the printable. I kept the second page of license plates together. I placed everything on a Multicraft tray along with a miniature vehicle.
This activity was one of Zoey’s very favorite educational activities!
Having Fun with the License Plate Game
We pretended we were traveling the U.S. in the Micro Machine RV. We have Micro Machines from when my kids were little. Unfortunately, they’re hard to find now and are often very expensive. You could also use the car from the Safari Ltd. On the Road TOOB. Any vehicle will be way too big for the map, but Micro Machines and Safari Ltd. vehicles work better than most.
You could use a blindfold, but I just had Zoey close her eyes and draw a license plate from the bowl. She loved discovering which state’s license plate she drew! Then she would place the license plate on the page of license plates and drive the RV to that state on the map.
We didn’t make it to all 50 states before it was time for Zoey to go home, but we traveled to many of them!
Letter J Sandpaper Letter with J for Jet Font Card and a_e Plane Phonogram Activity
Free Printables: Jet Letters for letter j font cards and a_e plane phonogram cards (part of my subscriber freebie pack, so just sign up for my email to get the link and password … or check the bottom of your latest newsletter if you’re already a subscriber)
Free Printable: a_e sound with pictures and letters from MontessoriSoul
I set this up to show how you could use beginning sound printables for a younger child along with the phonogram work for an older child. For a younger child, you could feature a sandpaper letter to go with the unit.
I’ll be adding the “ai” for train phonogram card and “sh” for ship phonogram card in a week or so. Zoey reads words and books with the phonograms already, but I still like to include the appropriate ones in our unit studies to help with spelling.
If you would like help with introducing phonetic sounds, introducing objects with sounds, or beginning phonics in general, check out my DIY Beginning Montessori Phonics with Preschoolers .
Transportation Pattern Block Activities
Free Printable: Transportation Pattern Block Mats from PreKinders
This was super easy to prepare. I just printed out the transportation printables (except for the rocket ship) and placed them on a Multicraft tray with a Montessori Services basket of pattern blocks . I was given the Spielgaben set , so I used the Spielgaben wooden parquetry tablets from set 7. They fit perfectly, although you need to use the black and white printables because there isn’t a trapezoid or yellow hexagon in the Spielgaben set.
I just placed the Spielgaben rhombus and equilateral triangle shapes in the basket because the transportation printables could all be completed using those (for example using a rhombus and equilateral triangle to make a trapezoid). Used in that way it’s a bit like the Montessori constructive triangles!
Sand Writing Tray with Transportation Number Rhyme Mats
Free Printable: Print and Drive Number Rhyme Mats from Preschool Mom
This printable is a high-interest printable and can be used with mini vehicles to “drive” the number. I decided to use the printables printed at 50% with the sand writing tray, though. Used this way, the child uses fingers to trace the number path on the card and then writes the number in the sand.
For the tray, I used the wooden tray from the Melissa & Doug Lace and Trace Shapes . You can use whatever tray or container work best for you, though.
Land, Air, and Water Transportation Addition with Miniature Vehicles and Bead Bars
Free Printable: Land, Air, and Water Transportation Number Cards 1-19 (part of my subscriber freebie pack, so just sign up for my email to get the link and password … or check the bottom of your latest newsletter if you’re already a subscriber)
Free Printable: 1-10 Spinner (part of my subscriber freebie pack, so just sign up for my email to get the link and password … or check the bottom of your latest newsletter if you’re already a subscriber)
This activity uses a piece of felt for a table mat (I used the Montessori Services felt table mat ) and bead bars from the decanomial box in a Multicraft tray and a Bambu condiment cup (what I used here) or Montessori Services basket . (My bead bars, which I love, are from Alison’s Montessori . You can get bead bars on Amazon , although I haven’t personally used materials from those companies.) I used vehicles from the Safari Ltd. On the Road TOOB , In the Sky TOOB , and In the Water TOOB .
Having Fun with the Transportation Addition Figures
This was another activity Zoey enjoyed! She used the spinner to choose the numbers, counted out the vehicles, found the matching number cards, and then placed the correct bead bars at the end. Zoey already knows her addition facts, but this was just a fun extension using the Safari Ltd. vehicles. She enjoyed playing with the vehicles afterward!
For a younger child, you could use the number cards for DIY cards and counters or another type of counting activity.
Travel Dictation or Writing Tray
Free Printables: Travel Writing or Dictation Pages (part of my subscriber freebie pack, so just sign up for my email to get the link and password … or check the bottom of your latest newsletter if you’re already a subscriber)
I used a Multicraft tray , the printables, a pencil, colored pencils in the Montessori colors for the continents, and a pencil sharpener for an added practical life activity. Advanced preschoolers on up can write their own story, while younger preschoolers can dictate their answers for you.
Blank World Map with Montessori Continent Map in the Corner
This is included in our subscriber freebie pack, but you won’t see it on our shelves. I added this so that you can prepare an activity bag for travel. You’ll see an example in my fun and learning with Montessori-inspired world travel activities and games post . You could also use it for another shelf activity if you prefer.

During the last few weeks the kids have had a great time taking a trip around the world using our Mother Goose Time curriculum. The theme for the month is It’s A Small world. The first week we learned about different tools needed for travel, the second week was spent learning about different items found in different markets around the world.
Here is a look at just some of the fun we have had during our learning.
Travel Tools
One of our first topics in this unit was a suitcase, because you can’t travel without one. I really loved the amount of fine motor skills that were involved in this activity. The kids strung the yarn through the holes to make their own little suitcase.
The boys made their own world using a blue heart for the water, and they added green land to them.
They used a big q-tip to trace the path from different forms of transportation.
This was a very fun activity the boys really enjoyed doing. We printed off pictures of friends and family to add into our cameras, the boys really thought it was great to add real pictures.
World Market
The second week we started on learning about different items that are found in a world market. We started with masks. Each of the boys decorated their own mask.
We made patterns with mask pattern cards.
The boys enjoyed making masks from the spinner using different shapes.
Travel bingo was a hit, and a great way to learn the names of some major places from around the world. We played using skittles which the boys were ecstatic about, since candy is something they rarely get 😉 !
The boys made paper lanterns one day using colored paper. They both made very different lanterns, Ethan decided to cut up yellow paper to pretend it was fire inside of his lantern.
The game for the month was Giving to the World. The kids learned about basic need that every person needs to survive.
The boys made carpets using cardboard and loom bands. Ethan wanted his to have more on it so we used yarn to continue to wrap it around and make a little carpet.
Patterns using different instruments from around the world was a fun activity the boys both enjoyed. They always continue the pattern on well past the end of the pattern card.
They enjoyed putting a cut out paper on top of what the sentence was about on each page.
Valentine’s Day Fun!!
The boys really enjoyed making love bug hats.
We have had such a great time exploring different things from around the world. This week we are finishing up different landmarks from around the world, I will be sharing all of that fun in the next couple of days. Next month is space, everyone is looking forward to that topic!
I am linking up with these great link parties , stop over for other great preschool ideas for kids.

18 Simple Transportation Activities for Preschoolers
By: Author Tanja McIlroy
Posted on Last updated: 7 April 2024
Categories Activities for Preschoolers & Kindergarteners
Starting a fun transport theme with your kids, or are they just fascinated with the topic and want to learn more?
Here are 18 fun transportation activities for preschoolers.
How do you introduce transport to preschoolers? Let them talk about themselves!
Start the ball rolling by asking them how they travel to school or to the store.
The transportation theme is a great way for motivating children to address the similarities and differences between themselves and others.
By using these ideas, you can help them learn more about the world around them, exposing them to experiences they have not yet encountered.
They can find out more about how things work and have their imaginations sparked for future learning.
Check out the transportation theme preschool activities that follow to start your own minds spinning with possibilities.
Transportation art for preschool can easily be incorporated into any day. With common materials like paper plates, crayons, markers, construction paper, boards and glue, kids can “build” a variety of fun vehicles.
Painting and Molding with Toy Vehicles
Offer a variety of toy plastic vehicles that can easily be washed. Tell children to dip them into paints and then stamp, roll, or wheel them across large sheets of paper to make interesting tracks and designs.
A similar process can be followed by flattening clay or playdough on the table and then running the wheels of toy vehicles over the expanse to make tyre tracks.
Designing Clouds in the Sky
Begin with a backdrop of blue construction paper and airplanes drawn or cut and then glued.
Get the young artists to design clouds with cotton balls, stretching them and then gluing them to the paper in various formations.
Music and Movement
Songs , fingerplays , large motor games and other transportation movement activities for preschoolers are naturals to accompany this theme.
Singing Old Favourites
- Row, Row, Row Your Boat
- She’ll be Comin’ Round the Mountain
- The Wheels on the Bus
- Down by the Station
- The Ants Go Marching
- I’ve Been Working on the Railroad
- Yankee Doodle
Playing Red Light, Green Light
Red Light, Green Light is best played outdoors or in a large indoor space.
Set up the start and finish lines. When you say, “green light,” the children move away from “start” in the method you have chosen (run, walk, crawl, etc.) toward the finish line. They must stop when you say, “red light.”
If you want, you can also incorporate the yellow light as a signal for them to move more slowly. The child who reaches the finish line first is the winner.
For practice with colours and words, you can also use coloured and labelled “traffic lights” made from paper plates that you hold up alone or along with your verbal directions.

Story/Discussion
Sharing books and videos.
Check your own bookshelf, the local library and YouTube for a wealth of fiction and informational books and videos about all different kinds of transportation, from the most common to wildly unusual.
Read, view, retell and discuss.

Sequencing Practice
Offer practice with 1, 2, 3 order and transition words, like “first,” “next,” “then,” and “finally” through a retelling of a favourite story or book.
This can be accomplished orally and/or with visuals, such as cut pictures or flannel board pieces.
Dramatic Play
The transport preschool theme is a great partner with “playing pretend.” Offer a wide variety of props, dolls, huge boxes, puppets, dress-up clothes and furniture to help imaginations soar.
Pretending to Travel in Various Vehicles
Read A Suitcase with a Surprise by Miss Frances (A Ding Dong School Book), which is a lovely vintage story about a little boy who pretends at home that he is going on a trip on a train.
- Vintage Rare Collectible Children's Book Golden Little
Encourage kids to set up the play area with various furniture and props to look like the inside of a plane, boat, bus or train.
Masquerading as a Vehicle!
Combining dramatic play with movement, children choose and act out their favourite kinds of vehicles.
Safety and avoidance of bumping into other “vehicles” (teaching position in space ) is encouraged and could be accomplished through the use of play traffic signs and signals.
Transportation maths activities for preschoolers easily lend themselves to important skills, such as counting, operations, sorting , measurement , patterns, representation and geometry.
Sorting Vehicles
Challenge the kids to sort toy vehicles by various characteristics: colour, size, shape or mode of travel (air, land, water).
They can also cut pictures of vehicles from magazines, and sort and glue them onto a transportation collage .
Recognizing Patterns
Beep Beep, Vroom Vroom! a “Math Start Book” by Stuart J. Murphy, encourages kids to see and recognize the patterns of colours and noises through the story’s vehicles.
- Murphy, Stuart J. (Author)
Counting Vehicles
From a window, when outdoors, or even in a vehicle themselves, children can count how many they see of a particular vehicle: airplanes in the sky, skateboards on the sidewalk or trucks on the road.
Constructing a Graph
Graphing activities are a great way to introduce early maths concepts.
On poster board or large paper, draw a graph grid that is labelled with different colours. Children then add toy vehicles one at a time to discover which is the most common colour in the toy collection.
Point out the numbers affixed to the graph, count aloud to prove those numbers, and also help the kids compare one to another.
Kids enjoy preschool transportation science activities without even realizing that they are “doing science.”
Investigating Ramps
Using boards, blocks and toy cars, children build ramps to discover what placements and conditions make them roll down the fastest.
This can also be accomplished outdoors on a larger scale with trikes/bikes and plywood or old doors.
Building and Flying Toy Airplanes
Offer a variety of materials, such as different weights of paper, cardboard, balsa wood and light foam sheets, challenging children to make airplanes.
Try flying them and then making small improvements. Discuss what helps the planes fly better and why they think that works.
Here are some cooking ideas to bring more fun to this theme.
Baking Traffic Light Cookies
Read Go! Go! Go! Stop! by Charise Mericle Harper as a fun way to talk about vehicles and how they often need to stop.
- Harper, Charise Mericle (Author)
Then have kids help bake your favourite sugar cookie recipe formed into rounds, colouring three containers of frosting to make red, yellow and green for traffic lights.
For a less sugary version, you can use crackers and cream cheese tinted in the three colours.
Cutting Fruits and Veggies into “Wheels”
With plastic knives, children cut bananas, oranges, kiwis, cucumbers, zucchini and cheese sticks into “wheels.”
Full vehicles can be formed with the use of crackers, breads and other large veggie and fruit pieces.
Free Play
Here are some final ways to incorporate this theme into children’s play.
Incorporating Vehicles
Make sure you have included a range of vehicles to be used in all areas of free play, indoors or outside. For example, add extra toy vehicles to the blocks and sand/mud areas, along with more kid-sized options of ride-on vehicles.
Adding Books to your Shelves
Many kids choose to “read” and look at books as a free play activity. Be certain that you have plenty of books handy, both fiction and non-fiction, that focus on a wide range of transportation topics.
Transport activities for early years expand children’s horizons and build their foundations of knowledge for future learning.
There are no limits, and they can travel to space in a rocket ship or to the bottom of the sea in a submarine!

Rocket Ship Name Craft
This transportation craft is an easy name and letter recognition activity for preschoolers. Cut out shapes from construction paper and add the relevant letters to each, then, have them put them together in the correct sequence to form their rocket.
Pretty sure your toddlers will enjoy this – just like my kids did – and they make a great keepsake too.
DIY Rocket Ship Juice Box
My preschooler became a little obsessed with rockets when we were learning about transportation at “school with Mommy”. This rocket craft is hardly Pinterest-worthy, but he loved it and played with his creation (which was mainly my creation) for hours.
Just goes to show that the best crafts aren’t necessarily the prettiest! The body of the rocket is made from a juice box and we used cardboard to make the cone on the top and the legs of the ship.
The yellow tissue paper flame was the final, and very important (!), addition. Such a fun air transportation theme craft for preschoolers.
Water Transportation Crafts for Preschoolers
How do ships sail? How deep can a submarine go underwater? What makes a boat float? So many things for your preschooler to learn and experiment with! Let your preschoolers explore different means of water transportation with these fun-filled arts and crafts.
Sponge Boat Craft
Sail away with this fun water transportation craft for 2 and 3-year-olds. All you need is a sponge, popsicle stick, some markers and cardboard. With that all set, your preschooler will be ready to set sail!

Potato Stamp Boat
Make cute sailboat art using potatoes. Just dip them in different colors and press them onto the blue cardstock to make adorable boats. It’s a great summer activity that’ll make potato stamping super fun!

Footprint Sailboat Craft
Use your toddler’s footprints to make this cute sailboat artwork. You will need a bit of time and patience to get a good footprint but if the outcome is as good as those above, this water transportation craft for preschoolers will be so worth it.
(Make sure you use baby-safe paints for hand and footprint crafts.)

You could also turn this into a cute birthday card for someone who likes boats or loves sailing. Check out these handprint and footprint birthday cards for more inspiration.
Egg Carton Sailboat
Upcycle egg cartons to make sailboats that your toddler or preschooler can decorate. They’re then sure to have fun boarding their favorite characters to their boat and setting them sail.

Edible Boat Craft
Here’s another fun way toddlers can learn about water transportation. It’s a tasty boat lunch made out of watermelon, cheese, pretzels, and some salami. This is also a great way of getting them involved in helping them prep the lunch and try new foods.

DIY Floating Egg Carton Boats
Here’s another fun water transportation craft I did with my preschoolers. Similar to the boat egg carton craft above, but again, much less picture-worthy. We wrapped the egg cartons in tin-foil to make them water-tight.
My preschoolers and their friends enjoyed blowing them across the water-filled plastic shell. Lots of learning opportunities here, making it perfect for a transport theme.
Best taken outside, this is one of many simple outdoor activities we’ve tried.

Rocking Paper Plate Submarine Craft
This rocking paper plate submarine is a great water transportation craft for preschool. This is so simple! Just use a paper plate for the base, yellow paint for the submarine, and blue tissue paper for the ocean.
Ripping the tissue paper into pieces and gluing them onto the plate will be a good test of fine motor and a fun sensory activity. There are so many easy ways to stimulate their senses using simple materials.

A little about me.
Hi, I'm Sarah
Mom of four outrageously gorgeous Littles. Yup, four! The twins are now two and that title still brings me out in a cold sweat… Yet I’m just as determined to give them the best without losing my mind. I reckon it’s possible! Most days.
I love a challenge and have to find out they ‘why’, ‘what’ or ‘how to’ – there are rather a lot of these when it comes to kids…
I also love, love, love things to be neat and tidy and just so. The Littles normally have other ideas!
