Quick Points: Book through Visa Signature Hotels for elite-like perks

Eric Rosen

Update : Some offers mentioned below are no longer available. View the current offers here .

Although we cover loyalty programs and credit cards in-depth on TPG every day, sometimes you just want a snippet of useful information that you can put into action on the fly. That's why we launched the series Quick Points . Every week, we'll highlight a new or easily forgotten tip that can help you travel more for less.

Hotel elite status can come with excellent benefits, like room upgrades, free breakfast , late checkout and more. But sometimes it's not possible to enjoy those perks on a trip.

Perhaps you don't stay enough with a specific chain to earn status in the first place, or you don't carry a hotel credit card that confers it automatically. Maybe you have status with one chain but need to stay at another for a particular trip. Or you could be more interested in checking out boutique hotels wherever you travel rather than those that are part of a larger company.

There are plenty of reasons hotel status might not come in handy for each and every trip you take. But fear not, you might still be able to enjoy elite-like benefits by booking your stay through Visa Signature Hotels .

For more TPG news delivered each morning to your inbox, sign up for our daily newsletter .

What is Visa Signature Hotels?

visa travel luxury

Visa Signature Hotels is a travel booking portal specifically for those who carry a Visa Signature credit card. It's kind of like American Express' The Hotel Collection , or Mastercard's Luxury Hotels & Resorts.

Related: The best ways to book hotels through online travel agencies and bank portals

Visa Signature Hotels benefits

If you have a Visa Signature card, you're eligible to book stays through the portal at over 900 luxury hotels worldwide and enjoy benefits that include:

  • A best available rate guarantee (this is temporarily unavailable, but the rates are typically similar to what you'll find through other booking channels).
  • Automatic room upgrade upon arrival, based on availability.
  • Complimentary daily breakfast for two.
  • $25 food and beverage credit.
  • Complimentary in-room Wi-Fi.
  • Late checkout upon request.

These benefits are basically equivalent to mid- or top-tier status with most hotel programs. The breakfast benefit alone can be worth $100 per day, depending on where you stay, and the $25 food and beverage credit should at least cover a drink or two, while room upgrades can be worth hundreds of dollars per stay.

Just note that if you have a Visa Infinite card, such as the Chase Sapphire Reserve or the Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card, you might be entitled to even richer benefits by booking through the Visa Infinite Hotels portal , though fewer (and usually higher-end) hotels are part of that program.

Pros and cons of booking through Visa Signature Hotels

Sounds like a fantastic deal, right? It mostly is. You just need to keep a couple of things in mind.

First, when you book through Visa Signature Hotels, you sometimes won't be eligible to earn points or stay credits toward elite status if you are booking with a major hotel chain such as Marriott or Hilton.

If you're not terribly interested in status, that might not mean much since you're enjoying the perks of it anyway.

Even if you do have elite perks with one hotel loyalty program, you can leverage Visa Signature Hotels to enjoy similar benefits with another major hotel group and see how you like them. Maybe it'll have you rethinking your loyalty strategy.

Also, note that despite the usual best rate guarantee, booking through Visa Signature Hotels won't always be the cheapest option. This is because special packages and member rates, which are sometimes lower than the standard rate, aren't available through the portal. However, the perks you'll receive will likely make up for any price difference.

Related: Is hotel elite status worth it anymore?

Visa Signature credit cards

So now the only question that remains is whether you actually have a Visa Signature credit card.

If you're not sure, look at your physical card and see if it has the Visa Signature logo somewhere on it. If it does, you're in luck.

Otherwise, here are a few of the most popular Visa Signature credit cards currently available.

  • Chase Sapphire Preferred Card.
  • Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card.
  • Bank of America® Premium Rewards® credit card.
  • Alaska Airlines Visa® credit card.
  • Marriott Bonvoy Boundless Credit Card.
  • United Explorer Card.
  • United Quest Card.
  • World of Hyatt Credit Card.

Bottom line

Although hotel elite status is nice, it's not always possible to capitalize upon it with each and every stay. If you have a Visa Signature credit card, though, you might be able to enjoy elite-like benefits while staying at hotels that aren't part of your usual loyalty rounds, such as boutique properties or those that are part of chains you don't normally patronize.

Check your cadre of cards to see if you are carrying any Visa Signature-branded ones. If you are, consider booking through the Visa Signature Hotels portal to enjoy perks like on-property credits and free breakfast that will help you enjoy your stay that much more, without having to jump through any elite status hoops.

Anyone who travels knows that having a premium travel rewards credit card can make a huge difference in your travel experience. These cards often include perks such as lounge access, rental car status, and fee reimbursements — all of which can save you money and frustration and generally give you a more relaxed experience at the airport.

There are, however, a large number of these credit cards on the market. Each of them has varying benefits, annual fees, and other discrepancies, so it can be hard for you, the frequent traveler, to pick the card that’s right for you.

But don’t worry — at Upgraded Points, we stay on top of the premium credit card world, so we can inform you about these cards and their respective benefits. With that in mind, we’ll take a look at some of the best premium credit cards on the market in this article, helping you find out which is best for your wallet.

We’ll start the article with a quick comparison of all the cards on this list and will then review each of these cards’ benefits, detailing personal cards first and then business cards.

If that sounds good to you, let’s get started!

Best Premium and Luxury Credit Cards by Category Summary

Premium credit cards offer far more benefits than other credit cards. These benefits might include airport lounge access, priority security screening, elite status, annual statement credits, and large welcome bonus offers.

That said, this long list of benefits comes at a much larger price tag, as most premium credit cards come with an annual fee of $395 to $695, depending on the card. While that is a steep sum, these cards can be very worthwhile for those who regularly use the cards’ perks and benefits, so make sure to run the numbers for yourself to see if they make sense for you.

All major credit card issuers, like American Express , Chase , and Capital One , each offer their own premium credit cards with various benefits such as lounge access, elevated points earning, the credit card bonus offer , and additional benefits and protections.

These benefits aren’t airline-specific in most cases, so you won’t necessarily need to fly on a specific airline all the time to get maximum value from your card. In fact, out of the 10 credit card recommendations in this guide, only 3 of them are co-branded with an airline.

With that in mind, you should look at whether you value points earning or travel benefits more when picking a card from this list.

Those who want access to more lounges and travel perks like hotel status may value a card like The Platinum Card ® from American Express , while those that value points-earning should compare the other cards and pick the card with bonus categories that best match their everyday spending habits.

We’ll start with our favorite personal card picks; after that, we’ll check out the best options for business owners!

Why We Like Earning Amex Membership Rewards Points

Amex Membership Rewards points are the most valuable transferrable currency available. We value these points at 2.2 cents each , making it possible to earn a return on spending of up to 11% with this card!

You can use Amex points for cash-back , statement credits, charitable donations , travel booked through AmexTravel.com, gift cards, online shopping, and more.

But our favorite way to use Amex points is for luxury travel when leveraging the Amex transfer partners .

Best Premium Cards for Flights/Travel

We’re thrilled to see Capital One enter the premium travel rewards card space with the Capital One Venture X card . With its lower annual fee ( rates & fees ) compared to other luxury travel rewards cards, a frequent traveler can easily find enough value to exceed this annual outlay.

We like that cardholders can earn big when using Capital One Travel as hotels and rental car purchases earn 10x Capital One miles and 5x miles on flights booked via the portal . The earnings continue with 2x miles on all other eligible purchases.

Plus, for every card anniversary, you’ll earn an additional 10,000 miles . Add in a $300 annual Capital One Travel credit , airport lounge access (including a Priority Pass Select lounge membership and access to Capital One Lounges and Plaza Premium Lounges ), a Global Entry or TSA PreCheck application fee credit, and complimentary Hertz President’s Circle status  and you could find plenty of bottom-line value as a cardholder.

The card also comes with a generous welcome bonus offer, cell phone protection , car rental insurance and benefits , trip insurance benefits , up to 4 authorized users for no additional annual fee ( rates & fees ), and no foreign transaction fees ( rates & fees ).

Hot Tip: See how this card goes head-to-head with other premium credit cards in our articles comparing the Capital One Venture X card vs. Chase Sapphire Reserve ®  and Capital One Venture X card vs. Amex Platinum card .

Why We Like Earning Capital One Miles

At redemption time, you’ll have strong choices including redeeming miles for travel via Capital One Travel or transferring miles to airline/hotel partners for even greater potential value.

You can also use your miles for gift cards, online merchandise, and statement credits.

We value Capital One miles at 1.8 cents each, which translates to a maximum return on spending of 18% when earning 10x miles.

The Chase Sapphire Reserve card is Chase’s answer to the Amex Platinum card. However, this card replaces some of the flashy benefits with elevated points earning, making it better for customers who need a card that offers both premium benefits and great points earning.

To start with, the Chase Sapphire Reserve card almost always comes with a sizable welcome bonus. But where this card shines is in the realm of rewards:

  • 10x Ultimate Rewards points on Chase Dining, hotels, and car rentals booked through Chase Travel
  • 10x points on Lyft purchases through March 31, 2025
  • 5x points on airline travel booked through Chase Travel
  • 3x points on all other travel and dining purchases — which includes fast food, cafes, Ubers, taxis, airfare, and much more

On the benefits side, some of the card’s most notable perks include Priority Pass lounge access , up to $300 annual travel credit that can be applied to any travel purchase, and a Global Entry, TSA PreCheck, or NEXUS application fee reimbursement .

With all of these benefits, it’s easy to see why this is one of the best Visa travel rewards cards available.

Uniquely, the Chase Sapphire Reserve card offers a 50% redemption bonus when booking travel through Chase Travel, as well as the ability to use Pay Yourself Back for up to 50% in bonus value on select rotating categories. This will get you a redemption value of 1.5 cents per point!

Plus, you can access the Chase Luxury Hotel & Resort Collection , as well as top-shelf travel insurance , which includes primary rental car insurance using the Chase Sapphire Reserve card.

Lastly, the Chase Sapphire Reserve card has no foreign transaction fees, purchase protection , and extended warranty.

Why We Like Earning Chase Ultimate Rewards Points

Chase Ultimate Rewards points are some of the most valuable points in the world. We value them at 2 cents per point, as you can get better value if you transfer points to one of the Chase transfer partners for award travel .

Other ways to redeem your points include travel booked through Chase Travel at a 1.5 cents per point value, Pay Yourself Back, statement credits, gift cards, charitable donations, gift cards, and merchandise.

But to get the best value, we recommend sticking to Chase’s transfer partnerships for luxury flights and hotels!

Best Premium Card for Dining

Hot Tip:  Check to see if you’re eligible for a welcome bonus offer of up to 90,000 points with the Amex Gold card. The current public offer is 60,000 points. (This targeted offer was independently researched and may not be available to all applicants.)

One of our favorite cards, the Amex Gold card offers amazing rewards with an exceptional welcome bonus. Here’s how the earnings are broken down:

  • 4x Membership Rewards points at restaurants , including takeout and delivery in the U.S.
  • 4x points at U.S. supermarkets (up to $25,000 per calendar year)
  • 3x points on flights purchased directly with the airline or at AmexTravel.com
  • 1x points on all other purchases

Earning 4x points translates to a return on spending of 8.8%, based on our valuations, which is huge!

The Amex Gold card comes with up to $120 in Uber Cash per year ($10 per month) for rides and Uber Eats orders in the U.S. and up to $120 in dining credits ($10 per month) at Grubhub, The Cheesecake Factory, Goldbelly, Milk Bar, select Shake Shack locations, and Wine.com .

With this card, you can book stays at The Hotel Collection , too.

There are also no foreign transaction fees, no additional annual fees for authorized users , purchase protection, extended warranty, and no preset spending limit ( rates & fees ).

Best Premium Card for Delta Flyers

The Delta Reserve card is one of the most valuable premium airline credit cards . As you’d expect, the card includes some amazing benefits for frequent Delta flyers.

To start with, the welcome offer will definitely accelerate your points earning. Here is the accrual structure:

  • 3x Delta SkyMiles on Delta purchases
  • 1x Delta SkyMiles on all other purchases

Although the earning structure isn’t fantastic, we love the fact that you’ll get a ton of Delta perks with this card:

  • Complimentary Delta Sky Club access when flying same-day on Delta Air Lines *
  • Complimentary Centurion Lounge or Escape Lounge — The Centurion Studio Partner access when you book a Delta flight with your card
  • An account anniversary companion certificate every year upon card renewal, which is good for a First Class, Delta Comfort+, or Main Cabin domestic, Caribbean, or Central American roundtrip flights to select destinations
  • Priority Main Cabin 1 boarding for yourself and up to 8 companions on the same reservation
  • First checked bag for free for yourself and up to 8 companions on the same reservation

Lastly, there are a few non-Delta perks, like the Global Entry or TSA PreCheck application fee credit, travel insurance, purchase protection, extended warranty, cell phone insurance, and no foreign transaction fees ( rates & fees ).

Why We Like Earning Delta SkyMiles

According to our valuation of Delta SkyMiles of 1.2 cents per mile, your return on spending maxes out at 3.6%.

Of course, it’s possible to achieve a higher redemption value if you book international premium cabin flights on Delta and its airline partners.

Bottom Line: You should only consider a premium airline credit card if you are loyal to a specific U.S. airline — otherwise, you’re better off with a general travel credit card that provides a wider range of benefits.

Hot Tip:  Check to see if you’re eligible for a huge welcome bonus offer of up to 170,000 points with the Amex Business Platinum. The current public offer is 120,000 points. (This targeted offer was independently researched and may not be available to all applicants.)

Our favorite premium and luxury business card is the Amex Business Platinum card , which is the business version of the Amex Platinum card. Notably, the 2 cards have different perks and rewards structures.

To start off, you’ll enjoy a huge welcome bonus offer, plus the ability to earn up to 5x Membership Rewards points per dollar spent:

  • 5x points flights and prepaid hotels booked through AmexTravel.com
  • 1.5x points on eligible purchases in key business categories, as well as on purchases of $5,000 or more elsewhere (up to $2 million every calendar year)

You’ll also find that this card has some incredible statement credits for additional value (enrollment required):

  • Up to $200 every year in airline fee credits
  • Up to $189 every year in CLEAR Plus credits
  • Global Entry or TSA PreCheck application fee credits
  • Up to $400 every year in Dell credits
  • Up to $360 every year in Indeed credits
  • Up to $150 every year in Adobe credits
  • Up to $120 every year in wireless credits

Check out these extra luxury travel perks :

  • Access to the American Express Global Lounge Collection , including Centurion Lounges, Delta Sky Clubs (when flying on a same-day Delta flight), Plaza Premium Lounges, and Priority Pass lounges (upon enrollment)
  • 35% airline bonus when using Pay With Points through AmexTravel.com (up to 1 million points back every calendar year)
  • Complimentary Hilton Honors Gold and Marriott Bonvoy Gold Elite status upon enrollment
  • Car rental status and/or benefits with Avis, Hertz, and National upon enrollment

The Amex Business Platinum card boasts cell phone protection, purchase protection, extended warranty, and no foreign transaction fees ( rates & fees ).

Hot Tip:  Check to see if you’re eligible for a huge welcome bonus offer of up to 110,000 points with the Amex Business Gold card! The current public offer is 70,000 points. (This targeted offer was independently researched and may not be available to all applicants.)

The Amex Business Gold card is a step down from the Amex Business Platinum card, but it can actually be the better choice for the right person.

If you’re looking to max out on rewards instead of benefits, the Amex Business Gold card could make more sense.

This card earns  4x Membership Rewards points on the top 2 categories in which your business spends the most every month  (up to $150,000 in combined purchases every calendar year):

  • Purchases at U.S. media providers for advertising in select media (online, TV, radio)

That 4x points structure is approximately equal to an 8.8% return on spending, which is huge. You’ll also earn 3x points per dollar on flights and prepaid hotels booked on AmexTravel.com and 1x points on all other purchases.

The Amex Business Gold card also offers the ability to make bookings at The Hotel Collection, travel insurance, no foreign transaction fees, and no annual fees for employee cards after the first employee card of $50 per year ( rates & fees ).

One of our favorite business credit cards is the Ink Business Preferred card , which is issued by Chase.

Despite having a mild annual fee, it offers some incredible rewards that are second to none. But let’s pivot to the rewards, which consist of a bonus earning structure of 3x Ultimate Rewards points on the first $150,000 in purchases every cardmember year in these business categories :

  • Ads purchased with search engines or social media sites
  • Internet, cable, and phone services
  • Shipping expenses

In addition, you can earn 5x points on Lyft purchases through March 31, 2025. All other purchases will earn 1x points.

Other easy ways to maximize this card include the fantastic cell phone protection plan, purchase protection, extended warranty, no-additional fee employee cards, and no foreign transaction fees.

As with the personal version of the card, cardholders of the Capital One Venture X Business card (Information collected independently. Not reviewed by Capital One.) earn 10x miles on hotels and rental cars purchases through Capital One Travel, and 5x miles on flights booked via Capital One Travel. Plus, cardholders enjoy an uncapped 2x miles per $1 on all other eligible purchases.

While the card does charge a $395 annual fee, you’ll receive a $300 annual Capital One Travel credit and 10,000-anniversary bonus miles to help offset that fee.

These are in addition to perks like airport lounge access, a Global Entry or TSA PreCheck application fee credit, rental car insurance, cell phone protection, trip delay insurance, free employee cards, and more.

The Delta Reserve Business card could become your best friend if you’re a business owner that frequently flies on Delta.

In fact, it’s one of the few credit cards that can help business owners get closer to valuable Delta elite status .

Currently, you’ll earn up to 3x Delta SkyMiles per dollar spent, as well as a welcome bonus:

  • 1.5x Delta SkyMiles after you spend $150,000 in a calendar year

Much like the Delta Reserve card we discussed in the personal cards section above, the Delta Reserve Business card has a series of amazing Delta perks:

  • A complimentary round-trip companion certificate every year after you renew your card on First Class, Delta Comfort+ ® , or Main Cabin domestic, Caribbean, or Central American flights
  • Complimentary Delta Sky Club access when flying on Delta on the same day*
  • Complimentary Centurion Lounge and Escape Lounges — The Centurion Studio Partner access when you purchase your Delta flight with your Delta Reserve Business card
  • 2 Delta Sky Club 1-time guest passes every year
  • First checked bag free for yourself and up to 8 companions on the same reservation

You’ll also enjoy a TSA PreCheck or Global Entry application fee credit, travel insurance, cell phone protection, purchase protection, extended warranty, employee cards for no additional annual fee, and no foreign transaction fees ( rates & fees ).

The last card we’ll discuss is the United Club Business card , which is Chase’s ultra-premium business credit card offered in partnership with United Airlines.

This credit card offers an impressive welcome bonus and the ability to earn up to 2x United MileagePlus miles per dollar spent:

  • 2x United miles on United purchases
  • 1.5x United miles on all other purchases

Most cardholders love the benefits you get when flying on United:

  • Free first and second checked bags when you purchase your tickets from United with this card (terms apply)
  • The ability to earn 500 Premier Qualifying Points (PQPs) for every $12,000 you spend on your card (up to 1,000 PQPs per calendar year)
  • Premier Access services, which include priority check-in, security, boarding, and baggage handling
  • 25% statement credit on United inflight purchases

Even better, this credit card has complimentary Avis President’s Club status , access to The Luxury Hotel & Resort Collection, travel insurance, purchase protection, extended warranty, and no foreign transaction fees.

Why We Like Earning United MileagePlus Miles

The United Club Business card earns United MileagePlus miles ; according to our valuations of 1.3 cents per United mile, that’s equal to a maximum ROI of 2.6% when earning up to 2x miles.

That’s decent, but you can get a better redemption value by using those MileagePlus miles on international award travel in business or first class .

The 2 highest end credit cards are the Centurion ® Card from American Express (Amex Black card) and the J.P. Morgan Reserve Credit Card. Both of these cards are invitation-only and very, very exclusive.

If you’re interested in learning more about these 2 exclusive cards, read our detailed comparison of the J.P. Morgan Reserve Card vs. Amex Black (Centurion) Card .

When it comes to premium credit cards, there simply isn’t a “one-size-fits-all.” The best credit card for you, regardless of your income, is the card that suits your travel preferences and spending habits.

If you are looking for a card that offers the best airport lounge access, then the Amex Platinum card would be the card for you. If you are a foodie who spends a lot on dining and at supermarkets, then the Amex Gold card would be a better fit. And if you are an optimizer, like many people in the points and miles community, you can also hold multiple cards for multiple purposes.

There is no right or wrong way to go about it. If your setup works for you, then it works!

That depends on what you are looking for in a new credit card! If you are someone who travels often enough to take advantage of the card’s perks regularly and whose spending habits meet the card’s bonus categories and statement credits, then it is likely that a premium credit card would easily be worth it for you.

At Upgraded Points, we evaluate the best premium credit cards based on the value the card can offer travelers. Our evaluation process analyzes each card based on important factors, including benefits, earnings structure, welcome bonus, redemption value/rewards program, and fees.

Here is some insight into our thought process when selecting the best premium cards:

Associated Benefits

The best premium cards should offer great travel and lifestyle benefits. This can include airport lounge access, complimentary elite status, annual statement credits, priority security screening, and discounts.

Earnings Structure

Even though premium credit cards are primarily about the perks and benefits they offer, you still want to ensure they can help you earn points toward your next vacation. In this case, we evaluate the strength of the card’s rewards program and bonus categories.

Welcome Bonus Offers

The welcome offer on a premium credit card is usually quite generous, which will help kickstart future award redemptions. Given that welcome bonuses are a one-time bonus and can be lucrative, they are a factor in evaluating cards.

We’ll provide you with the current information available for each card, but we encourage you to confirm the welcome offer and review earnings offers before applying for any card.

Most premium credit cards have rather large annual fees, so we take these into account as well. As with any rewards credit card, it is important to ensure you’re getting enough value from the card each year to justify it.

Redemption Value

Considering the premium credit card’s rewards program is very important to the overall value proposition of the card. We like to prioritize cards with flexible redemption options and access to transfer partners, as these cards usually offer multiple great options to get great value out of your points.

For most travelers, a general travel credit card like the Amex Platinum card, Capital One Venture X card, or Chase Sapphire Reserve card may be the best option . These cards provide great returns on everyday spending and excellent benefits like lounge access across multiple lounge networks and car rental status.

However, those who regularly fly a specific airline for work may prefer a premium airline credit card, like those offered by Delta. These cards can help you achieve airline status faster and will give you access to domestic airline lounges when flying on your preferred airline. This is especially important when you consider that Priority Pass has limited options when traveling domestically.

We showed you the best premium travel credit cards on the market. Picking a card from this list depends on what you value the most in your travel experience — but a general premium travel credit card is best for most travelers. These cards provide the widest range of benefits and will reward you for spending in certain categories.

But now we want to hear from you. What premium travel credit cards do you carry daily? Let us know in the comments — we’re excited to hear your take.

Why booking with Mastercard Luxury Hotels and Resorts is worth it

You may or may not have heard of the Mastercard Luxury Hotels and Resorts the counterpart of the Visa Luxury Hotel Collection. It's part of the Mastercard Travel & Lifestyle services portal where you can book luxury hotels under Mastercard's 3000+ portfolio of hotels with additional benefits at no extra cost.

Benefits include:

Daily complimentary breakfast

Hotel credit up to $100

Room upgrade (when available)

Early check-in and late check-out

Other unique perks

Related: Traveling to Bangkok for free (almost)

Mastercard Travel & Lifestyle services website

The perks are property dependent and can vary per brand or individual hotel. For example, breakfast might just be continental breakfast in some hotels instead of a full hot breakfast, the hotel credit could be less than $100 as well.

Sometimes you get unique extra perks depending on the hotel like a welcome amenity or in my case last time I booked through the portal for a 3 night stay at the Conrad Bangkok I received double Hilton Honor points for my stay.

Depending on your stay you could get oversized value from this perk alone that would cancel out whatever annual fees you pay for your credit card. The complimentary breakfast alone would automatically save you thousands.

visa travel luxury

Of course, you have to use your Mastercard credit card to book and full payment is made through the portal but only with select premium Mastercard credit cards as not all Mastercard cards have this perk.

I used my EastWest Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer World Mastercard (a mouthful I know) when I book through the Mastercard Luxury Hotels and Resorts and my BPI Visa Signature when I book through the Visa Luxury Hotel Collection.

The perk is especially great when you don't have elite status as you get elite-like benefits at no extra cost and is usually overshadowed by other credit card perks. I for one don't usually stay at luxury hotels too often so it's great to take advantage of every now on then when I decide to splurge on a 5-star hotel.

Welcome to the world of luxury travel, where opulence meets adventure and indulgence intertwines with exploration. Picture yourself basking in the splendor of breathtaking destinations, adorned with the finest comforts and services money can buy. As globetrotters, we cherish the notion of unlocking the hidden gems of this planet, seeking a passport to paradise.

However, in this realm of upscale voyages, we encounter a crucial aspect that can either pave the way to our dream destinations or become a stumbling block on our path to luxury escapades – visas. These coveted endorsements on our passports are not merely stamps; they hold the key to unlocking our desired destinations, ensuring our seamless entry into foreign lands. Yet, navigating the world of visas can be a labyrinthine challenge, even for seasoned travelers.

The Complexity of Visa Requirements

Visa requirements vary significantly from one country to another, and even within regions, nuances and regulations differ. For luxury travelers seeking to explore multiple exotic destinations, the complexity of obtaining various visas can be overwhelming. Imagine planning a grand luxury tour encompassing several countries, each with its own set of visa prerequisites. This intricacy can pose a considerable challenge for travelers.

Take, for instance, a globetrotter embarking on a luxurious journey to Southeast Asia. They might wish to experience the vibrant culture of Thailand, the serene beaches of Bali, and the enchanting landscapes of Vietnam. Each of these countries demands a distinct visa application process, which could include submission of documents, interviews, and potential waiting periods. Faced with this web of requirements, travelers may feel daunted and uncertain.

The Cost of Luxury Visa Services

As we delve deeper into the world of luxury travel, we find that time is of the essence, and the quest for convenience becomes paramount. For affluent travelers with busy schedules, delegating the visa application process to specialized agencies or concierge services may seem like an attractive solution.

However, this privilege comes at a cost. Luxury visa services offered by these agencies often command a premium fee, elevating the overall expenses of a luxury trip. While the convenience and peace of mind are undeniable advantages, the additional costs can leave travelers with mixed feelings. Striking a balance between convenience and cost-effectiveness becomes a puzzle to solve.

Timing and Flexibility: The Luxury Traveler’s Dilemma

In the realm of luxury travel, spontaneity and last-minute getaways are celebrated. After all, the allure of surprise adventures and impromptu indulgences is hard to resist. However, the rigidity of visa application timelines and the uncertainty of processing periods can challenge the luxury traveler’s appetite for spontaneity.

Picture this: a high-profile executive desires to whisk away to an exclusive private island for a luxury retreat. Eager to revel in the lap of opulence, they plan a lavish escape on short notice. However, securing a visa to a remote island might not align with their impromptu plans. The luxury traveler finds themselves at a crossroads between their desire for exclusivity and the logistical constraints of visa processing times.

The Art of Seamless Travel: Luxury Travel Agencies to the Rescue

Amidst the labyrinth of visa requirements and the quest for a seamless luxury travel experience, a shining beacon of hope emerges – luxury travel agencies. These travel curators possess the expertise and finesse to navigate the complex world of visas, catering to the discerning needs of affluent travelers.

Unlike standard travel agencies, luxury travel specialists are well-versed in orchestrating seamless journeys. They understand the intricacies of visa applications, enabling them to provide tailored guidance and concierge visa services. Whether it’s securing expedited visa processing, coordinating travel documents, or providing real-time updates, these agencies excel in elevating the luxury traveler’s experience.

Imagine a high-flying CEO, entrusting their travel aspirations to a luxury travel agency. With a wave of their magic wand, the agency orchestrates a bespoke itinerary, curates extraordinary experiences, and skillfully handles the visa logistics. The luxury traveler can now embark on their journey with confidence, knowing that their passport to paradise is in expert hands.

Innovations in Visa Facilitation

The world of luxury travel is not immune to technological advancements, and innovations have begun to seep into the realm of visa facilitation. E-visas and online visa applications are gaining popularity, streamlining the once-tedious visa process.

For example, a jet-setting entrepreneur planning a series of luxury conferences around the globe can now explore countries that offer electronic visas. With just a few clicks and minimal paperwork, the entrepreneur can secure travel authorizations swiftly, paving the way for a seamless and productive luxury journey.

Strategies for Luxury Visa Success

As luxury travelers seek to unlock the world’s most coveted destinations, navigating the visa landscape requires strategic finesse. Here are some tips to ensure your passport to paradise remains within reach:

Early Planning:

Embark on your visa journey well in advance. Research visa requirements for all your desired destinations and allow ample time for processing and unforeseen delays.

Consult Experts:

Enlist the help of luxury travel agencies with expertise in visa facilitation. Their specialized knowledge and concierge services can simplify the process.

Flexibility:

While luxury travel often embraces spontaneity, be prepared to adjust your plans if visa processing times don’t align with your desired itinerary. Stay open to alternative destinations that offer expedited visa options.

Stay Informed:

Keep abreast of visa policy changes and updates for your target countries. The rules may evolve, and staying informed ensures you remain well-prepared.

Utilize Online Resources:

Explore e-visa options and online visa application portals. Embracing digital visa facilitation can save time and streamline the process.

Plan Visa-Ready Itineraries:

Work with luxury travel agencies to design visa-ready itineraries that consider visa processing times. This approach ensures you can indulge in seamless travel experiences without visa-related hassles.

Conclusion: Unlocking Luxury Destinations

As luxury travelers, we embark on a quest to discover the world’s most enchanting destinations and create unforgettable experiences. However, the journey to paradise is not without its challenges, and visa complexities can pose formidable hurdles.

Yet, armed with strategic planning, expert guidance, and an openness to adapt, luxury travelers can unlock the gates to their dream destinations. Luxury travel agencies serve as trusted allies, providing visa expertise and orchestrating seamless travel experiences.

Remember, the passport to paradise is not just a physical document but a symbol of exploration, wonder, and indulgence. So, embrace the journey, overcome visa challenges, and savor every moment of your extraordinary luxury travel escapades.

Bon voyage!

Best no annual fee travel credit cards of April 2024

Fortune Recommends™ has partnered with CardRatings for our coverage of credit card products. Fortune Recommends™ and CardRatings may receive a commission from card issuers.

Terms apply to American Express benefits and offers. Enrollment may be required for select American Express benefits and offers. Visit americanexpress.com to learn more.

Travel rewards cards are a lot like gyms. The best ones may come with tons of added benefits (saunas, yoga class, etc.) but they also cost a lot, usually with a big financial commitment upfront.

As a result, whether you’re considering a Chase Sapphire Preferred ® Card (with its $95 annual fee) or a CrossFit membership, you probably have the same question on your mind: will I really use it enough to justify paying for it?

While there aren’t any free gyms we know of, there thankfully are plenty of no-annual-fee travel rewards cards that require essentially zero commitment. And just like an ab roller or a Richard Simmons DVD, you can simply use them a few times, forget about them, and put them in a drawer until beach season. Or, you can stick with it and make them part of your daily routine—whatever works for you.

You’re also far more likely to see “instant results” with these cards, too. From 100,000-point welcome bonuses to rewards for paying rent, free travel insurance to 3X on gas, these cards offer way more than you’d expect for a fee of $0 per year.

The best no-annual-fee travel cards for April 2024

Best overall: bilt mastercard, best for hotel rewards: ihg one rewards traveler credit card, best for airline rewards: united gateway℠ card, best for travel earnings: wells fargo autograph℠ card, best for flat-rate earnings: capital one ventureone rewards credit card.

The Bilt Mastercard allows you to earn points from paying rent and transfer them 1:1 to well over a dozen different travel partners including United MileagePlus and Marriott Bonvoy. Toss in some surprisingly robust travel insurance and you have our unconventional—yet logical—choice for the best overall no-annual-fee travel card of 2024.

Bilt Mastercard®

See Rates and Fees

Special feature

Rewards rates.

  • 1x Earn 1X points on rent up to 100K/year
  • 1x Earn 3X points on dining
  • 2x Earn 2X points on travel
  • 1x Earn 1X points on other purchases
  • Use the card 5 times each statement period to earn points
  • Uniquely earns points on rent
  • Rent Day bonus every first of the month offers double points (excluding rent)
  • Robust travel transfer partners
  • Cash redemption rate is poor
  • No traditional welcome bonus
  • Travel perks: Trip Cancellation and Interruption Protection, Trip Delay Reimbursement, Auto Rental Collision Damage Waiver
  • See this page for details
  • Foreign Transaction Fee: None

Why we like this card: As mentioned, the Bilt Mastercard’s most compelling feature is that it allows you to pay rent with a credit card—even if your landlord doesn’t take plastic—and avoid the transaction fee paying rent by credit card would typically incur. Then, as long as you complete five transactions each month, you’ll trigger 1X rewards on your rent payments.

Note that rewards on rent are capped at 100,000 points per year.

In terms of earning potential, if you pay the median ~$2,000 rent in the U.S., you could earn approximately 24,000 points per year which can be used to book travel in Bilt’s portal at a value of 1.25 cents per point or transferred to any of Bilt’s airline or hotel partners at a 1:1 ratio. In other words, you could likely earn a domestic flight with United or a weekend stay at Hyatt, all for simply paying rent on time.

The Bilt card also provides trip cancellation and interruption protection, trip delay reimbursement, and primary rental car insurance (terms apply)—perks you wouldn’t typically find on a no-annual-fee credit card.

If you’re looking for a hotel rewards card that offers the most free nights for no annual fee, wait until you read about the IHG One Rewards Traveler Credit Card. With a six-figure welcome bonus, up to 17X on stays and other compelling rewards, it’s currently the gold standard for no-fee hotel rewards.

IHG One Rewards Traveler Credit Card

Intro bonus.

  • 17x Earn up to 17X points when you stay at IHG Hotels & Resorts
  • 3x Earn 3X points on dining, utilities, internet, cable, and phone services, select streaming services, and at gas stations
  • 2x Earn 2X points on all other purchases
  • Generous welcome bonus not typically seen in a $0 annual fee card
  • Travel protections that are unusual for a no-annual-fee card
  • Fourth night free on award bookings
  • Limited redemption options outside of IHG
  • IHG points are worth less than some other rewards currencies
  • Silver status granted with the card has limited benefit
  • Additional perks: Trip cancelation/interruption insurance, auto rental collision damage waiver, purchase protection, ability to spend to Gold status
  • Foreign transaction fee:None

Why we like this card: We like calling the IHG One Rewards Traveler card the “Liam Hemsworth” of travel rewards cards because it lives in the shadow of its big brother—the IHG One Rewards Premier Credit Card —but still delivers plenty of quality and substance in its own right (with no annual fee, to boot).

For starters, you can get a welcome bonus of 80,000 bonus points after spending $2,000 on purchases within the first 3 months of account opening, potentially worth around $500 to $700 in IHG redemption.

Plus, enjoy up to 17X points when you stay at IHG Hotels & Resorts, instant Silver Elite status and a handy bonus where you redeem points for three consecutive nights and get the fourth night in your stay free. So, if you book a three-night stay using your welcome bonus, you’ll essentially be getting a complimentary four-night stay at a nice IHG property for no annual fee. The IHG One Rewards program could be very rewarding for the right traveler.

As a no-annual-fee airline card, the United Gateway℠ Card currently edges out its rival the Delta SkyMiles® Blue American Express Card by offering a more generous welcome bonus and travel insurance that the Delta card does not provide. If you fly occasionally and would like to earn miles, but aren’t willing to make the commitment of $95 or more for a mid-tier airline card with more perks, the Gateway is a strong choice.

United Gateway℠ Card

  • 2x 2 miles per $1 spent on United® purchases, including tickets, Economy Plus, in-flight food, beverages and Wi-Fi, baggage service charges and other United purchases.
  • 2x 2 miles per $1 spent on local transit and commuting, including rideshare services, taxicabs, train tickets, tolls, and mass transit.
  • 1x 1 mile per $1 spent on all other purchases
  • No annual fee or foreign transaction fee
  • Reward bonus categories outside of United Airlines
  • Robust travel protections for a no-annual-fee card
  • No baggage or expanded award availability benefits like with other United cards
  • Subject to Chase 5/24 rule.
  • United perks: 25% back as a statement credit on purchases of food, beverages and Wi-Fi on board United-operated flights and on Club premium drinks when you pay with your Gateway Card
  • Other perks: Auto Rental Collision Damage Waiver, Trip Cancellation/Interruption insurance, Purchase Protection, Extended Warranty
  • Foreign transaction fee: None

Why we like this card: The United Gateway card offers 2 miles per $1 spent on United® purchases, at gas stations and on local transit and commuting plus 1 mile per $1 spent on all other purchases. Considering a United Mile is worth roughly around 1.2 cents these days, effectively earning 2.4 cents back on everyday purchases is a solid value proposition.

You’ll also get a welcome bonus of 20,000 bonus miles after you spend $1,000 on purchases in the first 3 months your account is open. And, you can save with a discount of 25% back on United in-flight and Club Premium drink purchases.

New cardholders will enjoy a 0% Intro APR on Purchases for 12 months, after 21.99%–28.99% variable applies.

If the United Gateway card has a small lead on the Delta Skymiles Blue Amex at this point, it soars ahead (pun intended) when you look at the included travel and shopping protections. Both cards offer secondary rental car insurance, but only the Gateway includes trip cancellation and interruption insurance, purchase protection and extended warranty protection.

So, if you’re seeking a no-annual-fee card you can use to rack up miles—and you either tend to fly United most of the time or you’re at minimum not devoted to a competing airline—the United Gateway is the card to beat.

Check out our full review of the United Gateway Card for more info.

With a generous welcome bonus in exchange for an attainable spend amount, 3X on travel, and a fancy name, you’d think the Wells Fargo Autograph℠ Card would command an annual fee of at least $95. But it doesn’t, making it a superb candidate for general travel use.

Wells Fargo Autograph℠ Card

Intro bonus.

  • 3X 3X points on restaurants, travel, gas stations, transit, popular streaming services and phone plans
  • 1X 1X points on other purchases
  • No annual fee
  • 20,000 bonus points when you spend $1,000 in purchases in the first 3 months (that's a $200 cash redemption value)
  • Points transfer to partners
  • Car rental insurance is secondary
  • No travel insurance
  • Transfer partners are limited
  • Additional perks: Cell Phone Protection: Provides up to $600 in cell phone protection when you pay your monthly cell bill with your Wells Fargo Autograph card. Coverage is subject to a $25 deductible and limited to two claims every 12-month period.
  • Foreign transaction fee: N/A

Why we like this card: The Wells Fargo Autograph offers unlimited 3X points on restaurants, travel, gas stations, transit, popular streaming services and phone plans and even your landline bill too if you have one, plus 1X points on other purchases—all without charging an annual fee. And, to make traveling a little cheaper/less stressful, you’ll also get $600 worth of cell phone protection (minus a $25 deductible) as long as you pay your phone bill with this card and secondary rental car insurance.

Cardholders can transfer points at a 1:1 ratio to Wells Fargo’s first wave of transfer partners including Air France‑KLM Flying Blue, Avianca Lifemiles, British Airways Executive Club, AerClub, and Iberia Plus and 1:2 to Choice Privileges.

But even if you aren’t a member of those loyalty programs, earning 3X on dining, travel, gas, and more is hard to pass up. You can redeem points at a value of 1 cent each to offset past purchases on your account, meaning you can wield the Autograph either as a no-annual-fee travel card or as a cash-back card effectively earning unlimited 3% back in a wide swath of useful categories.

Check out our full review of the Wells Fargo Autograph .

Sometimes, you just want a card that offers a little more than 1X on every purchase—without having to worry about what this quarter’s rotating rewards are, or whether a specific merchant qualifies as “groceries” for the purposes of your card’s rewards. If you value simplicity and the lack of an annual fee in your travel card, you’ll probably be a fan of the Capital One VentureOne Rewards Credit Card and its straightforward rewards program.

Capital One VentureOne Rewards Credit Card

Reward rates.

  • 5x Earn 5x miles on hotels and rental cars booked through Capital One Travel
  • 1.25x Earn 1.25x miles on every other purchase
  • Flexible travel rewards
  • No foreign transaction fee
  • Maximizing Capital One Miles requires a learning curve
  • Cash redemption value is limited
  • The VentureOne offers travel accident insurance, rental car coverage, extended warranty protection, exclusive access to events through Capital One Dining and Capital One Entertainment

Why we like this card: The Capital One VentureOne Rewards offers 1.25X miles per dollar spent on everyday purchases and 5x miles on hotels and rental cars booked through Capital One Travel. That’s pretty much all that you have to remember. You can also get a nice welcome bonus of 20,000 miles after spending $500 on purchases within 3 months from account opening, which is a solid payout for a very attainable spending target.

Capital One Miles can be transferred to well over a dozen airline and hotel partners, most at a 1:1 rate. Partners include Air Canada’s Aeroplan, British Airways Executive Club, Choice Privileges, Virgin Red, and Wyndham Rewards, among others. Other ways to book travel include redeeming miles through Capital One’s portal or making the purchase directly, paying with your card like normal, then using miles for a statement credit to cover the transaction.

The Venture One also offers a 0% intro APR on purchases for 15 months (after that, the variable APR will be 19.99%–29.99%). There’s an intro balance transfer fee of 3% of the amount of each transferred balance that posts to your account during the first 15 months that your account is open , then 4% per transfer for any promotional APR offered after.

Come to think of it, provided you have the excellent credit needed to apply, the VentureOne could make a great travel companion for a grad student given its simplicity, lengthy intro APR period and low spending threshold required to trigger the welcome bonus.

Check out our full review of the Capital One VentureOne Rewards .

Frequently asked questions

Which card is best for international transactions without extra charges.

Zero foreign transaction fees is actually a common benefit among travel rewards cards, including many with no annual fee. For example, neither the Bilt Mastercard nor the United Gateway card charges a foreign currency conversion fee.

What is the best travel credit card for a young person?

If you’re still paying rent, the Bilt Mastercard is an excellent choice since it can generate points from rent payments which can then be transferred 1:1 to well over a dozen airline and hotel partners. If you’d prefer a card with a welcome bonus, which the Bilt card lacks, the IHG One Rewards Traveler card currently offers a massive welcome bonus for a no-annual-fee card—potentially worth hundreds of dollars toward a future IHG hotel stay.

Is a travel card with an annual fee worth it?

Using a travel rewards card with an annual fee can be worth it as long as you’re extracting enough points and benefits to justify paying the fee each year. If you travel infrequently or just want one less fee to worry about, consider one of the no-annual-fee cards on our list above. But, the best perks and protections are typically available on cards with annual fees.

For example, the Capital One Venture X card offers a $300 annual travel credit for bookings made through Capital One Travel. If you use that every year, you’ve gone a long way toward offsetting the $395 annual fee. You also get 10,000 bonus miles, worth at least $100 toward travel, every year starting on your account anniversary.

Methodology

To bring you our top picks for the best travel rewards cards with no annual fee, the Fortune Recommends surveyed more than a dozen cards currently available from today’s top issuers. From there, we ranked each one based on the following core categories and weights:

  • Welcome bonus (10%): Some cards—even those with no annual fee—offer welcome bonuses that you can earn once you make enough purchases within a certain time frame, such as spending $1,000 within three months of account opening.
  • Travel earnings (25%): These are the point rewards you’d earn by making travel-related purchases (e.g. 3X on hotels, 2X on airfare).
  • Car rental insurance (15%): Many, but not all travel-centric rewards cards include an auto rental collision damage waiver, which allows you to decline a portion of the rental company’s insurance and save potentially up to $30 per day. We gave extra consideration to if a card offers primary rental car insurance versus secondary, because primary kicks in immediately in a covered scenario—whereas secondary only applies after your own, personal insurance.
  • Travel insurance benefits (15%): Some travel rewards cards automatically apply trip cancellation/interruption insurance, lost/delayed luggage reimbursement and even travel accident insurance on travel bookings made using the card.
  • Gas earning (5%): Since road trips remain a common form of travel, whether or not a card offers points rewards at the pump factored into our rankings.
  • Dining earning (10%): If a no-annual-fee travel rewards card offered 2X or more on restaurant purchases it favored well in this category.

The remaining 20% was based on the card’s main focus: hotel, airline or general travel rewards.

  • For general travel—points transferrable to partners (20%): Points are literally worth more if you can transfer them to certain partners, so a card’s ability to transfer rewards to airline and hotel partners factored into our rankings.
  • For hotel rewards—free award night with booking (20%): Some hotel rewards cards offer a BOGO-like perk where if you redeem a certain number of nights with points you get an extra tacked on for free.
  • For airline rewards—ability to spend towards status (20%): Most airline rewards cards allow you to earn miles, but not all of them count those miles towards your next loyalty status. If a card treated them as “qualifying miles,” it fared better in this category.

Lastly, just keep in mind that virtually every aspect of a travel rewards card—from the rewards to the welcome bonus and fee structure—is subject to change, which could impact how many miles or points you earn.

This New Luxury Travel Company Features Carbon-neutral Trips to the Dolomites, Victoria Falls, Amazon, and More

The 30 itineraries — all tested by the founders — include adventures in the Seychelles, Rwanda, Dolomites, Yellowstone, and Slovenia.

Brit Sarah Dusek and her American husband Jacob Dusek have always viewed the world through a lens of possibilities. The couple met in Taipei, Taiwan, nearly two decades ago and started out raising their two sons in Montana — all while they launched what has become one of the preeminent glamping companies in the country, Under Canvas . It disrupted the old standards of rustic camping and replaced it with chic, eco-friendly safari-style tents against the background of some of the most iconic U.S. destinations.

Now they’ve taken that same mindful model of meaningful outdoor experiences into the luxury travel space, debuting a new brand last month: Few & Far . It's a sustainable company dedicated to carbon-neutral exploration. “The heart of all of it is the magical connection there is when people connect with nature in extraordinary ways,” Sarah Dusek told Travel + Leisure.

Each of the 30 itineraries available on the site right now are ones that someone from the Dusek family has experienced first-hand, providing a personal level of curation and paired with a focus on putting sustainability first.

Among her favorite trips offered are the Rwanda Gorilla Trek and Masai Mara Wildlife Adventure , a 12-day itinerary with visits to Kigali and Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda, Masai Mara in Kenya, and Zanzibar in Tanzania. She took a group of female CEOs on the journey last October, saying that “it was absolutely mind-blowing and extraordinary” and that “every single woman on the trip said it was by far the most incredible trip she’s been on.”

Another highlight is the five-day San Juan Islands Tented Camp Experience , a tailored group trip with accommodations set up specifically for each group. On Sarah Dusek’s own visit, she took about eight female CEOs there for a “boutique, five-star tented experience under the stars on a farm,” where they arrived by seaplane and then sea kayaked, hiked, and enjoyed outdoor farm-to-table dinners. The best part: every person could rest assured that their stay used 70 percent less water consumption than staying at an average hotel.

Her own family traveled last Christmas inspired the Enchanting Southern Africa itinerary, a 12-day getaway from Cape Town up to Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe, before heading to a houseboat on the Chobe River in Botswana. “It was so special because you could be right on the water watching the wildlife morning, noon, and night,” she said. “The boys could fish and we could traverse up and down the Zambezi, experiencing a different view each day.”

After that, the trip boards the luxurious Rovos Rail through Hwange National Park in Bulawayo to Pretoria, before ending in Johannesburg.

Having test-driven every single one of the itineraries on her own is what makes Few & Far’s curation so special. “All of these are very personal to us,” Sarah Dusek said. “They're an expression of who we are — and we love to share them.”

Launching a new travel company was never the intention, with the Duseks selling off Under Canvas in 2019 and moving their family to Cape Town, where they worked as venture capitalists helping empower and fund female entrepreneurs. But they continued to be avid travelers, committed to exposing their sons, now 12 and 15, to as many cultures and perspectives as possible.

During a trip to the Forgotten Mountain’s remote region in northern South Africa’s Limpopo province along the Zimbabwe border, they knew they had stumbled upon something special in UNESCO’s Vhembe Biosphere Reserve . Soon, they had bought a 10,000-acre space, where they’re now set to debut as the 60-room Few & Far Luvhondo eco-lodge at the end of this year. Inspired by weaver bird nests, the site will include a solar-powered aerial experience with a cable car system featuring a 40-kilometer (about a 25-mile) track to provide a uniquely immersive way to explore the African bush and its wildlife.

“We hadn't planned on coming back to the commercial travel space again, but are still so passionate about travel and we still love curating extraordinary experiences,” Sarah Dusek said. “We kept thinking about the safari experience and how to reimagine it for our children and how we could incorporate conservation and travel.”

That forward-thinking eco-first philosophy is what drives all of the Duseks’ efforts. “Outdoor tourism can do so much good,” Sarah Dusek said. “There can be so much harmony with creating an economy, stimulating jobs, preserving wildlife, making sure that our habitats are protected, and that we don't lose biodiversity.”

In fact, through a combination of conservation efforts — largely from tree planting, as well as wetlands management, rewilding, and restoring — the eco-lodge should be on track to sequester as much as 100,000 more tons of carbon a year than it currently does. That’s especially meaningful since the 10,000 acres they own have more biodiversity than in all of Europe.

Additionally, she started looking at the possibilities of helping the rural people, many of whom live in poverty and are generating a revenue stream through tourism. “You start educating people about the difference of what happens when we conserve and protect the land and start investing in the people and then you start to ripple effects in so many levels," she said.

Ultimately, what drives Sarah Dusek is her own dedication to instilling these values in her kids. “I want to show my kids how extraordinary our planet is and I want them to fall in love with it,” she said. “When you're out in it, magic happens and the chances of falling in love with the planet are infinitely greater.”

All of those facets come together in each of the trips through Few & Far — and she hopes that every traveler will be taken by the impact of their adventures. “Travel changes us and has the power to change a belief pattern,” she said. “It shows us that the way we live is not the way everyone lives and maybe not the right way to live.”

In particular that happens the most when she’s out on the great outdoors. “The more time I have spent in the natural world, the more I learn about the people, behaviors, patterns, and cultures in our world,” she said. “That makes us richer and gives us all a chance to realize gosh, all the little things matter.”

‘They hit the jackpot’: How so-called ‘burglary tourists’ use visa waivers to target luxury US homes

C arol and Jeff Starr celebrated their daughter’s wedding last month with a bit of irony: neither was wearing their own wedding rings at the ceremony. Thieves had broken into their Southern California home last spring and cleaned out a safe full of jewelry.

“They hit the jackpot,” Carol Starr told CNN.

The couple had locked their own rings in a 6-foot-tall safe, where they also secured heirloom jewelry passed down from Carol’s late mother.

“My mother loved beautiful things and she wanted to leave a legacy through jewelry,” Carol Starr said. “She bought some beautiful antique jewelry, museum-quality jewelry.”

Orange County, California, prosecutors allege a group of thieves hid in the hillside adjoining the Starr’s home, watched them leave with visiting relatives, and made their move.

“They came over our fence, they broke through a window in the upper bedroom and came through that window,” Jeff Starr told CNN. “And then immediately started working … on the safe.”

The total loss: a staggering $8 million, the family estimates.

“You don’t feel safe in your own home anymore,” said Carol Starr, who is thankful no one returned home during the burglary. “I get so emotional and so mad when I think about what could have happened.”

Prosecutors say the break-in is part of a larger issue in which so-called “burglary tourists” enter the United States from countries that qualify for visa waivers, allowing a visit of up to 90 days without a traditional tourist visa. When the suspects arrive – most often from South America, prosecutors say – they join sophisticated burglary rings that prey on luxury homes.

In some cases, the suspects “lie in wait in these ghillie suits so they remain camouflaged,” said Orange County District Attorney Todd Spitzer. “They take advantage of the fact that most people don’t have window sensors or motion detectors on their second floors. They have WiFi jammers to stop the alarm company from being notified.”

Spitzer said the stolen goods are often sold quickly and the money is sent back to the suspect’s home country. Most often, that’s Chile, he said, which is now the only remaining South American country that qualifies for the Department of Homeland Security’s waiver program, known as the “Electronic System for Travel Authorization,” or ESTA.

The problem extends beyond California. Last month police in Scottsdale, Arizona, reported they arrested three Chilean nationals in connection with what authorities called a “burglary series” in the city.

Within the last year, police in Baltimore, Maryland; Raleigh, North Carolina; and Nassau County, New York, were among those announcing arrests in cases of luxury home burglaries linked to Chilean nationals in the US on visa waivers.

While there is no formal tally of the number of crimes committed by “burglary tourists,” the number appears to be, at minimum, in the hundreds. Ventura County, California, alone attributed 175 residential burglaries to “transnational theft groups” between 2019 and mid-2023.

“Not all Chileans are coming to the United States on this 90-days tourist program … not all of them are committing crimes,” Scottsdale Police Chief Jeff Walther noted in a March news conference. “I’m not saying that they are … But what we’re getting is hundreds, hundreds if not thousands coming in through the visa waiver program that are committing residential burglaries in dozens and dozens and dozens of cities and neighborhoods around the country. This is not a Scottsdale issue, this is not a Valley issue, this is not an Arizona issue. This is a national issue.”

Walther added: “We have to be willing to start asking some hard questions of our federal government about the visa waiver program.”

Seeking answers from South America

Rama and Balakrishna Sundar built their dream home overlooking the ocean in Dana Point, California. After alleged “burglary tourists” broke in through a bedroom window last year, they are trying to re-build their peace of mind.

“We want to move away from here and I don’t feel very secure at all,” Rama Sundar told CNN.

The burglars also took a sledgehammer to an elevator door, perhaps thinking a safe was behind it, Balakrishna Sundar said. When the alarm company was notified, the burglars fled with nothing valuable. The suspects were Chilean nationals, and at least one of them was out on bail for another crime, according to a complaint filed in Orange County.

Spitzer, the district attorney, has been a vocal critic of Chile, claiming it isn’t releasing background information on those granted visa waivers, which hinders prosecution here in the US.

“If we don’t know the criminal background of these individuals … then we can’t tell the judge anything or represent anything about the background,” he said. “Which means the person is released on no bail and they never come back again to answer for the charges.”

The Chilean government did not respond to CNN’s request for comment.

The Department of Homeland Security’s website says the waiver program is vital for “expanding economic and cultural ties.” More than 40 countries qualify for the program.

In a statement to CNN, the department acknowledged it is “deeply concerned with some individuals who travel to the United States and engage in criminal activity,” but adds “Chilean officials have responded by improving operational cooperation with DHS to prevent travel … by known criminal actors.”

The agency also noted it is expediting biometric information sharing between the US and Chile that, once fully implemented, will give US officials access to the criminal histories of travelers.

In March, Spitzer sued the US State Department, demanding to see the details of a bilateral security agreement for preventing and combating serious crime that it signed with Chile in July.

“Where’s the proof in the pudding?” said Spitzer. “How come we’re not seeing a significant diminishment of these burglaries?”

The Sundar family also questioned the level of urgency on this issue in Washington.

“I want a politician to go through this experience and he may feel exactly as I feel,” Balakrishna Sundar said.

“They’re supposed to help us,” his wife added. “It’s very annoying and disturbing.”

A. STATUTORY NUMBERS FOR PREFERENCE IMMIGRANT VISAS

This bulletin summarizes the availability of immigrant numbers during May  for: “Final Action Dates” and “Dates for Filing Applications,” indicating when immigrant visa applicants should be notified to assemble and submit required documentation to the National Visa Center.

Unless otherwise indicated on the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) website at  www.uscis.gov/visabulletininfo , individuals seeking to file applications for adjustment of status with USCIS must use the “Final Action Dates” charts below for determining when they can file such applications. When USCIS determines that there are more immigrant visas available for the fiscal year than there are known applicants for such visas, USCIS will state on its website that applicants may instead use the “Dates for Filing Visa Applications” charts in this Bulletin.

1.  Procedures for determining dates. Consular officers are required to report to the Department of State documentarily qualified applicants for numerically limited visas; USCIS reports applicants for adjustment of status. Allocations in the charts below were made, to the extent possible, in chronological order of reported priority dates, for demand received by April 1st . If not all demand could be satisfied, the category or foreign state in which demand was excessive was deemed oversubscribed. The final action date for an oversubscribed category is the priority date of the first applicant who could not be reached within the numerical limits. If it becomes necessary during the monthly allocation process to retrogress a final action date, supplemental requests for numbers will be honored only if the priority date falls within the new final action date announced in this bulletin. If at any time an annual limit were reached, it would be necessary to immediately make the preference category “unavailable”, and no further requests for numbers would be honored.

2.  The fiscal year 2024 limit for family-sponsored preference immigrants determined in accordance with Section 201 of the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA) is 226,000.  The worldwide level for annual employment-based preference immigrants is at least 140,000.  Section 202 prescribes that the per-country limit for preference immigrants is set at 7% of the total annual family-sponsored and employment-based preference limits, i.e., 25,620.  The dependent area limit is set at 2%, or 7,320.

3.  INA Section 203(e) provides that family-sponsored and employment-based preference visas be issued to eligible immigrants in the order in which a petition in behalf of each has been filed. Section 203(d) provides that spouses and children of preference immigrants are entitled to the same status, and the same order of consideration, if accompanying or following to join the principal. The visa prorating provisions of Section 202(e) apply to allocations for a foreign state or dependent area when visa issuances will exceed the per-country limit. These provisions apply at present to the following oversubscribed chargeability areas:  CHINA-mainland born, INDIA, MEXICO, and PHILIPPINES.

4.  Section 203(a) of the INA prescribes preference classes for allotment of Family-sponsored immigrant visas as follows:

FAMILY-SPONSORED PREFERENCES

First : ( F1 ) Unmarried Sons and Daughters of U.S. Citizens:  23,400 plus any numbers not required for fourth preference.

Second : Spouses and Children, and Unmarried Sons and Daughters of Permanent Residents:  114,200, plus the number (if any) by which the worldwide family preference level exceeds 226,000, plus any unused first preference numbers:

A. ( F2A ) Spouses and Children of Permanent Residents:  77% of the overall second preference limitation, of which 75% are exempt from the per-country limit;

B. ( F2B ) Unmarried Sons and Daughters (21 years of age or older) of Permanent Residents:  23% of the overall second preference limitation.

Third : ( F3 ) Married Sons and Daughters of U.S. Citizens:  23,400, plus any numbers not required by first and second preferences.

Fourth : ( F4 ) Brothers and Sisters of Adult U.S. Citizens:  65,000, plus any numbers not required by first three preferences.

A.   FINAL ACTION DATES FOR FAMILY-SPONSORED PREFERENCE CASES

On the chart below, the listing of a date for any class indicates that the class is oversubscribed (see paragraph 1); "C" means current, i.e., numbers are authorized for issuance to all qualified applicants; and "U" means unauthorized, i.e., numbers are not authorized for issuance. (NOTE: Numbers are authorized for issuance only for applicants whose priority date is earlier than the final action date listed below.)

For May, F2A numbers  EXEMPT from per-country limit  are authorized for issuance to applicants from all countries with priority dates  earlier  than 08NOV20. F2A numbers  SUBJECT to per-country limit  are authorized for issuance to applicants chargeable to all countries EXCEPT MEXICO , with priority dates beginning 08NOV20 and earlier than 01JUN21. All F2A numbers provided for MEXICO are exempt from the per-country limit.

B.  DATES FOR FILING FAMILY-SPONSORED VISA APPLICATIONS

The chart below reflects dates for filing visa applications within a timeframe justifying immediate action in the application process. Applicants for immigrant visas who have a priority date earlier than the application date in the chart below may assemble and submit required documents to the Department of State’s National Visa Center, following receipt of notification from the National Visa Center containing detailed instructions. The application date for an oversubscribed category is the priority date of the first applicant who cannot submit documentation to the National Visa Center for an immigrant visa. If a category is designated “current,” all applicants in the relevant category may file applications, regardless of priority date.

The “C” listing indicates that the category is current, and that applications may be filed regardless of the applicant’s priority date. The listing of a date for any category indicates that only applicants with a priority date which is earlier than the listed date may file their application.

Visit www.uscis.gov/visabulletininfo for information on whether USCIS has determined that this chart can be used (in lieu of the chart in paragraph 4.A.) this month for filing applications for adjustment of status with USCIS.

5.  Section 203(b) of the INA prescribes preference classes for allotment of Employment-based immigrant visas as follows:

EMPLOYMENT-BASED PREFERENCES

First :  Priority Workers:  28.6% of the worldwide employment-based preference level, plus any numbers not required for fourth and fifth preferences.

Second :  Members of the Professions Holding Advanced Degrees or Persons of Exceptional Ability:  28.6% of the worldwide employment-based preference level, plus any numbers not required by first preference.

Third :  Skilled Workers, Professionals, and Other Workers:  28.6% of the worldwide level, plus any numbers not required by first and second preferences, not more than 10,000 of which to "*Other Workers".

Fourth :  Certain Special Immigrants:  7.1% of the worldwide level.

Fifth :  Employment Creation:  7.1% of the worldwide level, of which 32% are reserved as follows: 20% reserved for qualified immigrants who invest in a rural area; 10% reserved for qualified immigrants who invest in a high unemployment area; and 2% reserved for qualified immigrants who invest in infrastructure projects. The remaining 68% are unreserved and are allotted for all other qualified immigrants.

A.  FINAL ACTION DATES FOR EMPLOYMENT-BASED PREFERENCE CASES

*Employment Third Preference Other Workers Category: Section 203(e) of the Nicaraguan and Central American Relief Act (NACARA) passed by Congress in November 1997, as amended by Section 1(e) of Pub. L. 105-139, provides that once the Employment Third Preference Other Worker (EW) cut-off date has reached the priority date of the latest EW petition approved prior to November 19, 1997, the 10,000 EW numbers available for a fiscal year are to be reduced by up to 5,000 annually beginning in the following fiscal year. This reduction is to be made for as long as necessary to offset adjustments under the NACARA program. Since the EW final action date reached November 19, 1997 during Fiscal Year 2001, the reduction in the EW annual limit to 5,000 began in Fiscal Year 2002. For Fiscal Year 2024 this reduction will be limited to approximately 150.

B.  DATES FOR FILING OF EMPLOYMENT-BASED VISA APPLICATIONS

The chart below reflects dates for filing visa applications within a timeframe justifying immediate action in the application process. Applicants for immigrant visas who have a priority date earlier than the application date in the chart may assemble and submit required documents to the Department of State’s National Visa Center, following receipt of notification from the National Visa Center containing detailed instructions. The application date for an oversubscribed category is the priority date of the first applicant who cannot submit documentation to the National Visa Center for an immigrant visa. If a category is designated “current,” all applicants in the relevant category may file, regardless of priority date.

Visit www.uscis.gov/visabulletininfo for information on whether USCIS has determined that this chart can be used (in lieu of the chart in paragraph 5.A.) this month for filing applications for adjustment of status with USCIS.

B .   DIVERSITY IMMIGRANT (DV) CATEGORY FOR THE MONTH OF MAY

Section 203(c) of the INA provides up to 55,000 immigrant visas each fiscal year to permit additional immigration opportunities for persons from countries with low admissions during the previous five years.  The NACARA stipulates that beginning with DV-99, and for as long as necessary, up to 5,000 of the 55,000 annually allocated diversity visas will be made available for use under the NACARA program.  Visa numbers made available to NACARA applicants in FY 2023 will result in reduction of the DV-2024 annual limit to approximately 54,850.  Section 5104 of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year 2024 amended the NACARA’s provisions on the Diversity Visa program such that the number of visas made available under the NDAA will be deducted from the 55,000 DVs annually allocated.  These amendments will not impact the number of diversity visas available until FY 2025.  DVs are divided among six geographic regions. No one country can receive more than seven percent of the available diversity visas in any one year.

For May , immigrant numbers in the DV category are available to qualified DV-2024 applicants chargeable to all regions/eligible countries as follows. When an allocation cut-off number is shown, visas are available only for applicants with DV regional lottery rank numbers  BELOW  the specified allocation cut-off number:

Entitlement to immigrant status in the DV category lasts only through the end of the fiscal (visa) year for which the applicant is selected in the lottery. The year of entitlement for all applicants registered for the DV-2024 program ends as of September 30, 2024. DV visas may not be issued to DV-2024 applicants after that date. Similarly, spouses and children accompanying or following to join DV-2024 principals are only entitled to derivative DV status until September 30, 2024. DV visa availability through the very end of FY-2024 cannot be taken for granted. Numbers could be exhausted prior to September 30.

C.   THE DIVERSITY (DV) IMMIGRANT CATEGORY RANK CUT-OFFS WHICH WILL APPLY IN JUNE

For June , immigrant numbers in the DV category are available to qualified DV-2024 applicants chargeable to all regions/eligible countries as follows. Breeze Airways remains relatively unknown, but this startup airline is a breath of fresh air for travelers in underserved areas. The airline offers nonstop routes from smaller airports to popular U.S. destinations, allowing flyers to skip connecting through busy airports.

Now, the low-cost airline is launching its first credit card, the Breeze Easy™ Visa® Credit Card * The information for the Breeze Easy™ Visa® Credit Card has been collected independently by Blueprint. The card details on this page have not been reviewed or provided by the card issuer. . Cardholders can earn BreezePoints on Breeze flights and everyday expenses and redeem them for flights, bags, seat assignments, and more.

Here’s our full Breeze Easy Visa Credit Card review and our take on whether frequent Breeze flyers should take a closer look.

Breeze Easy Visa Credit Card basics

  • Annual fee: $89.
  • Welcome bonus: 50,000 BreezePoints after spending $2,000 in the first 90 days of account opening.
  • Rewards: Earn up to 10 points per $1 on Nicer Bundles, Nicest Bundles and trip add-ons (5 points per $1 when the flight is purchased, plus 5 points per $1 once the flight is completed), up to 4 points per $1 on Nice Bundles (2 points per $1 when the flight is purchased, plus 2 points per $1 when flight is completed), 2 points per $1 on eligible grocery store and restaurant purchases (including inflight food and beverages and 1 point per $1 on other purchases.
  • APR: 21.24% to 29.99% variable.
  • Recommended credit score: Good to excellent.
  • Does the card offer preapproval? No.
  • Other benefits: Points never expire with the card, Group 1 Priority boarding, complimentary inflight Wi-Fi on Breeze Airbus fleet, 7,500-anniversary points after spending $10,000 in a year and no foreign transaction fees.

Breeze Easy Visa Credit Card review

A loyalty program is key to repeat business, and Breeze is offering its frequent flyers even more with the debut of a new travel rewards credit card. While the Breeze Easy Visa Credit Card isn’t for everyone, it provides plenty of value for the right cardholder.

You can earn up to 10 points per $1 on Nicer Bundles, Nicest Bundles and trip add-ons (5 points per $1 when the flight is purchased, plus 5 points per $1 once the flight is completed), up to 4 points per $1 on Nice Bundles (2 points per $1 when the flight is purchased, plus 2 points per $1 when flight is completed), 2 points per $1 on eligible grocery store and restaurant purchases (including inflight food and beverages and 1 point per $1 on other purchases.

In other words, you can get up to a 10% return on eligible Breeze purchases.

Your BreezePoints never expire as long as you have the card, and you can redeem them at a flat 1-cent-per-point rate for flights and other traveler extras such as checked bags and seat assignments.

But with an $89 annual fee, you’ll need to crunch the numbers to see if the card will provide enough value to justify the cost.

The card offers benefits you’d expect from any airline credit card , such as access to priority boarding for the cardholder and companions on the same reservation. And cardholders get free inflight Wi-Fi, saving $8 each way. (By the end of the year, Breeze plans to become a fleet of all Airbus A220s, one of the most comfortable regional jets to fly.)

In sum, Breeze offers an economical way to fly to dozens of U.S. destinations, and its new credit card is a natural fit for frequent Breeze travelers.

  • Elevated points spent on Breeze flights and trip add-ons: That’s one of the best rewards rates on any airline credit card, giving flyers a generous haul of points for booking Breeze flights.
  • Complimentary Wi-Fi for all travelers on the same reservation: You won’t have to pay for internet connectivity, saving you $8 on every one-way flight.
  • BreezePoints won’t expire : BreezePoints normally expire after 24 months, but the card will extend their shelf life for as long as your account remains open.
  • Anniversary bonus: You’ll get a 7,500-point bonus every account anniversary, worth $75 for Breeze flights and more, if you spend at least $10,000 on the card each year.
  • No free bags: Airline credit cards typically come with a free checked bag, but this card does not waive the cost of checked bags.
  • BreezePoints are worth 1 cent apiece: While Breezy Rewards is a straightforward program, there’s no opportunity for outsized value, as with other frequent flyer program currencies.
  • Full rewards only after your flight : With the card’s earning rate, you’ll earn half of the BreezePoints when purchasing the flight and the other half after the flight is complete.

Breeze Easy Visa Credit Card rewards

Perhaps the most eye-catching feature of Breeze’s first-ever credit card is the ability to earn huge rewards on eligible Breeze Airways purchases. Let’s take a closer look at how the rewards break down:

Cardholders can earn up to 10 points per $1 on Nicer Bundles, Nicest Bundles and trip add-ons (5 points per $1 when the flight is purchased, plus 5 points per $1 once the flight is completed), up to 4 points per $1 on Nice Bundles (2 points per $1 when the flight is purchased, plus 2 points per $1 when flight is completed), 2 points per $1 on eligible grocery store and restaurant purchases (including inflight food and beverages and 1 point per $1 on other purchases.

New applicants can also earn 50,000 BreezePoints after spending $2,000 in the first 90 days of account opening.

Using government data and other publicly available information, we estimate that a household in the U.S. that would be in the market for this card has around $25,087 in annual expenses that can be charged to a credit card.

We assumed the example cardholder purchased flights at the base-level ticket (Nice fare class). Here’s how our sample household’s rewards could break down:

Cardholders will earn BreezePoints through the Breezy Rewards program. In this example, the cardholder earned 37,119 points from card purchases, worth $371.19 for Breeze flights, baggage fees, seat assignments, and more.

Breeze Airways is not part of an airline alliance, nor does it have any partnerships, except with new partner Priceline. You can only redeem your points for Breeze-related purchases, meaning there’s no opportunity to maximize rewards on other airlines. This is a key consideration if you want to apply for the Breeze card.

Breeze Easy Visa Credit Card perks

An airline credit card is best suited to those who fly almost exclusively with the carrier, and the Breeze Easy Visa is no exception. Cardholders get the major advantage of free inflight Wi-Fi, saving them and companions on the same reservation $8 each way.

Furthermore, cardholders and their travel companions on the same reservation get Group 1 priority boarding. That means you’ll have first dibs on precious overhead bin space. The more you fly, the more value you’ll get from these benefits.

In addition, cardholders get the chance to earn 7,500 bonus points each anniversary year after spending $10,000 in purchases. Those BreezePoints are worth $75 — nearly the cost of the annual fee — adding even more ongoing value.

Although the airline has no international flights, the Breeze Easy card is a keeper for traveling abroad because there are no foreign transaction fees. It’s a Visa Signature card, which comes with complimentary travel insurance perks such as trip cancellation and interruption insurance, baggage delay coverage and more.

Breeze Easy Visa Credit Card drawbacks

One crucial feature the card is missing: a free bag benefit. Most airline credit cards will waive the cost of the first checked bag as a cardholder-exclusive perk. This could be a dealbreaker for some travelers.

At the lowest fare classes, Breeze only allows for one free personal item that must fit under the seat. The airline also operates on a dynamic bag pricing model, so the cost of a carry-on and checked bag will vary slightly depending on your flight route.

While this may disappoint, remember that BreezePoints can be redeemed for extra charges, including bag fees. For instance, you can use 3,500 BreezePoints to wipe out a $35 carry-on bag charge. And, if you’ve booked a higher fare class (Nicer or Nicest), the cost of bags is included in the ticket bundle.

How the Breeze Easy Visa Credit Card compares to other travel cards

Breeze easy visa credit card vs. chase sapphire preferred® card.

The Chase Sapphire Preferred Card , which has a $95 annual fee, is ideal for travelers looking to earn bonus points on travel and everyday purchases. You’ll earn 5 points per $1 on travel purchased through Chase Travel℠, 3 points per $1 on dining, select streaming services, and online grocery purchases (excluding Walmart, Target and wholesale clubs), 2 points per $1 on all other travel purchases and 1 point per $1 on all other purchases.

Chase Ultimate Rewards® has an enticing list of transfer partners, including United and Southwest. Cardholders can redeem miles at an elevated 1.25-cent rate for travel purchases via the Chase travel portal. Unfortunately, you can’t book Breeze Airways flights on Chase Travel, so this isn’t a fit if you want to redeem points for Breeze flights.

Breeze Easy Visa Credit Card vs. Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card * The information for the Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card has been collected independently by Blueprint. The card details on this page have not been reviewed or provided by the card issuer.

The Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card also has a $95 annual fee and offers the benefit of simplicity with 5 miles per $1 on hotels and rental cars booked through Capital One Travel and purchases through Capital One Entertainment and 2 miles per $1 on other purchases. You can redeem Capital One miles as a statement credit for any travel purchases made within the past 90 days at a rate of 1 cent apiece. This rewards flexibility is a big plus.

It’s also possible to outsize those rewards with Capital One’s airline and hotel transfer partner roster, especially for international flights. You’ll also benefit from a Global Entry/TSA PreCheck application fee credit (up to $100), a nice added travel perk.

Breeze Easy Visa Credit Card vs. JetBlue Plus Card * The information for the JetBlue Plus Card has been collected independently by Blueprint. The card details on this page have not been reviewed or provided by the card issuer.

We’d be remiss not to offer a comparison to the JetBlue Plus card to see how the Breeze Easy card stacks up. The JetBlue Plus Card has a slightly higher $99 annual fee. It’s also issued by Barclays and offers similar earnings: 6 points per $1 on eligible JetBlue purchases, 2 points per $1 at restaurants and eligible grocery stores and 1 point per $1 on all other purchases.

You’ll earn TrueBlue points, which can be redeemed for flights on the airline or partner carriers such as Qatar Airways or Hawaiian Airlines. The JetBlue Plus card offers a free first checked bag. This benefit provides at least $35 in savings each way, which helps offset the annual fee.

Is the Breeze Easy Visa Credit Card worth it?

Between the card’s welcome bonus and ongoing rewards rates, there’s a lot of potential to stockpile BreezePoints. But unless you exclusively fly with the airline, it’s worth shopping around to see if another travel credit card will serve you better in the long term, especially if your goal is to save money on flights with a range of carriers, rather than just Breeze Airways.

Breeze Easy Visa Credit Card is right for you if:

  • You frequently fly out of the airline’s main hubs .
  • You want to earn rewards to save money on Breeze flights and travel purchases.
  • You want to save money onboard Breeze flights with the card’s complimentary Wi-Fi.

Frequently asked questions (FAQs)

Airline credit cards, such as the new Breeze Easy card, offer ways for the most loyal flyers to save money on travel. This card is no exception, with plenty of ways to earn BreezePoints, free Wi-Fi and more for ultra-loyal Breeze passengers.

The Breeze Easy card costs $89 per year. This fee is in line with competing travel cards, which you might also want to consider for more flexible rewards earning, redemption and perks.

While the issuing bank, Barclays, does not disclose a specific credit score requirement, you’ll want to have good to excellent credit to increase your chances of qualifying for most travel credit cards.

Breeze Airways does not offer a true business-class product, but the airline has a spacious recliner seat called “Ascent class” on its Airbus A220 fleet, and extra legroom seats.
