Testimonials

5 stars blue.png

What an amazing tour! Myself and a group of friends went on the Dingos 3 day tour last week and they were so accommodating when it came to putting all 17 of us in the same tour. Our tour guide Jeff was an absolute legend who constantly had a smile on his face. His knowledge of the island is amazing and it was great to hear all the facts. Definitely recommend this tour.

Highly recommend booking your K’gari Fraser Island tour with this company if you plan to visit. Our accommodation was ideal and had everything you’d need – own toilet, toiletries, shower, beds, towels etc. The campsite was great all our meals were included and cooked for us. Our tour guide Brett was fantastic, he had us up and out early every morning so we could enjoy the beautiful lakes and walks all to ourselves before other tour groups arrived. He knew so much history/stories about the island and it’s traditional owners the Butchulla people, which added to the whole experience.

Nicole, Google Review, August 2023

This tour was one of the best experiences I’ve had here in Australia. Our guide Luke had the most infectious happy energy. He made the experience so so special with his knowledge of the island and beautiful outlook on life. Perfect balance of fun and relaxation. I left the island feeling such joy and gratitude to have been a part of something like this. Magical 💜✨

6 stars – ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

What a special place and what a place to stay. Our guide, Xavier, was on point with knowledge of the island and the culture. He has impeccable timing to take us places before the crowds. We did SO much in 3 days. The accommodations were top notch and more than we expected. Great food and plenty of it! Thank you G and staff for all your hard work in keeping this special place running. I’d give it 6 stars if I could. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

sustainable, interesting and very fun

If you’re looking for a sustainable, interesting and very fun experience, I can truly recommend booking the 3 day tour with K’Gari Adventures! It was so worth it, we’ve spent so much time exploring the island, driving the cars on the beach and in the inland, our tour guide Troy was amazing!! He told us heaps of stories about himself, the island and its history and about the beautiful sky full of stars at night! We’ve seen all attractions and we’ve always been the first ones to arrive, which I see as a result of the guide’s experience. The accommodation and the food was amazing and the whole group dynamics were nice. It definitely felt like a small group even tough we’ve been quite a few people. Thank you!

Passionate guide, Great food & clean  accommodation

Most people who go and visit K’gari would probably absolutely love it but what I loved about this tour was our tour leader Mark and his clear passion and excitement about the island. With his history, stories and love for this island, it would be hard not to fall in love with this place and want to come back again (which I desperately do!) The food was great, the accommodation was clean and nice and the tour gave you just enough time in each place to enjoy it but also you visited so many different areas. I also liked that you did all the driving as that was all part of the experience. I would literally recommend this to anyone!

One of my favourite parts of the tour was snorkelling the Great Barrier Reef. I hadn’t been in the sea for 13 years and every time we did a sea activity on the trip I didn’t participate. Shannon was determined to increase my confidence in the water. She helped me with a snorkel mask and showing me how to stay calm and breath. We made an agreement that I would snorkel in the Great Barrier Reef. I was so scared but Shannon was so supportive and helpful, if it wasn’t for her encouragement I probably wouldn’t have done it. Now I love snorkelling, and one week after this I did it again! Thanks so much Shannon, the best tour leader and friend!

Best of the Coast - Sydney to Cairns 16 Day Flashpacker Adventure Tour

Took part in a Complete East Coast Tour with Via Travel Australia and it was the trip of a life time! Guides involved on the tour were knowledgeable and passionate about the information they were providing, which makes all the difference on longer tours (shout out Jason and Eoin) The tour provided good structure and guidance, but also at no point felt feel strict or rushed, always allowing for flexibility and personalization dependent on the group and their interests. Made it feel like custom experience rather than just a repeated paint by numbers tour. Excited for my next tour I book with Via

Best Beaches, Rainforest and Islands – 13 Day Flashpacker Adventure Tour

My boyfriend and I travelled from Brisbane to Cairns with Via travel two weeks ago and had the trip of a lifetime! The tour had the perfect balance of sight-seeing and relaxing so it really felt like a holiday while also seeing and experiencing some amazing places! It was fun, well-organised and stopped at all of the must-see places on the East Coast! Our tour guide, Jason, was friendly and informative and had an outrageous amount of knowledge on everything East Coast, from local knowledge, information about the wildlife, history and culture to restaurant and bar recommendations! His energy kept us going, even when we were tired, and made sure that everyone had a great time! Although everywhere we visited was amazing, some of the highlights for me were Magnetic Island (our favourite!!), which gave us the chance to see koalas, wallabies and lots of wildlife up close and in their natural habitats, snorkelling the Great Barrier Reef, where we saw incredible aquatic life and coral (an absolute must do!!) and our Indigenous culture experience with Kuku Yalanji tours where we were completely out of our comfort zone but learned so much and got a real insight into local culture. We absolutely loved the small tour group size too, which allowed us to get to know everyone really well within a couple of days and make friends from all corners of the world! The group dinners and nights out that we had were so much fun! Whether you're a nature enthusiast, adventure seeker, or simply looking to explore the beauty of the East Coast, this tour with Via travel is a must-do experience and one that I will be recommending to all of my friends!!

How to Book the Right Tour to Fraser Island

Fraser Island is located on the eastern coast of Australia. It’s the world’s largest sand island and it sits off the coast of Queensland near Rainbow Beach and Hervey Bay - the two major departure points to the island. It is one of the most iconic destinations in Australia and is by far one of the most unique islands in the world. It is famous for its freshwater lakes, tranquil creeks, curious dingoes and sandy highway and is visited by thousands of people every year. Luckily for you, it’s easier to book than ever.

There are many tours that visit the famous island, with each a bit different from the next. But don’t worry - you can easily find the right tour that’s best for you with a little help from our travel experts.

We have made a list of things to consider before planning your trip so you’re better equipped when choosing how you want to see Fraser Island. Rest assured, there is a tour for everyone so any type of traveller can enjoy the beauty and uniqueness of Fraser Island!

Read the information below to get a better idea of what kinds of tours are available and how you can book them and we will help you find the perfect tour!

Things to think about

Departure points.

Fraser Island is only accessible by ferry. There are no bridges to the island so visitors must be carried across from one of two departure points: Hervey Bay or Rainbow Beach. If you aren’t sure which you plan to leave from, that’s okay! You can work with our agents to figure out which departure point is better for you and what’s compatible with the type of tour you choose. You can also start your journey from other towns and cities including Noosa, Brisbane and the Gold Coast that will bring you to one of the two departure points to the island. For more information on the different ways to get to Fraser Island, click here.

Ask yourself: Where do you think you’ll be leaving from?

fraser island ferry

Vehicle Types

There are 2 different types of vehicles that are generally driven on the island: passenger buses or 4 wheel drive passenger vehicle. Bus tours take more people per tour and require little participation on the part of the guest, as there is a driver and guide for the duration of the trip. They are often more family-friendly and can move around a bit quicker than a smaller 4 wheel drive vehicle. They are able to drive closer to the surf, meaning the tides affect them less, getting you from place to place faster. They are often air-conditioned and have panoramic windows. There are also 4 wheel drive vehicles such as Troopies or Landcruisers that take anywhere from 8 - 10 passengers per vehicle and are often tag-along style tours that offer guests the chance to drive. This is a popular type of tour for the adventurous traveller as it allows you to drive on the sand highway, which is an exciting and new experience for most. Tag-along tours follow a lead driver around the island while passengers take turns driving or sitting back and relaxing!

Visitors to the island can also opt to rent their own vehicle and conduct their own tour of the island. While this kind of travel gives you a bit more flexibility, it also comes with more responsibility and additional expenses such as bonds, fuel, food and accommodation, as well as more planning. This is a great option for those who would like an extended amount of time on the island as you can rent your own vehicle for longer than most guided tours are conducted (guided tours range from 1 - 3 days usually).

Ask yourself: Do you want to drive , or are you happy to join a fully guided tour ? Do you think a bus or smaller 4 wheel drive is more suited for you?

fraser island tour book

Guests can choose from day trips or overnight trips to Fraser Island. Overnight trips give you more time at each Fraser Island destination and often visit more of its iconic locations, while day trips are great if you’re short on time but still want to experience the island. Both tour types are a great choice, so which type you pick is mostly dependent on how much time you have. It’s a large island with plenty to see, so we think the longer you are able to spend there, the better! Tours range from 1 day to 3 days.

If you rent or drive your own vehicle to tour the island, you can choose to stay as long or as little as you like. Those conducting their own tours will have to arrange their own accommodation on the island, whereas guided tours do this for you.

Ask yourself: How much time do you have to travel and would you like to spend the night on Fraser Island or just the day?

fraser island tour book

Accommodation types on the island

Fraser Island tours offer an array of accommodation types that will suit any type of traveller. There are campsites and hostels for those who are you a budget (or want a more rugged experience), and resorts and glamping for those who want something a bit more comfortable. You can get anything from dorm-style rooms to shared tents to private suites and luxurious glamping tents. Accommodation type is reflected in the pricing options on tours, so this is a large consideration if you’re budgeting. What type of accommodation you choose will also be dependent on who you are travelling and what kind of privacy you’d like.

Ask yourself: Do you want to camp or sleep inside?

fraser island tour book

Once you have read the above considerations and asked yourself the questions, you should be a bit more prepared for planning your Fraser Island trip. But don’t worry if you’re not sure! We are here to help you figure it out! There are so many perks to all of the Fraser Island tours that we will help you figure out and decide on.

The Booking Process

The next step is working with your agent to figure out which tour you’d like to go on. We will send you some options that will work for you and your travel dates and answer any questions you may have. Once you settle on exactly which tour you'd like - we will do the rest of the hard work!

Basic steps:

  • Pick a tour
  • We will send you a booking form with specific details of the tour
  • Fill out your booking form return to us (the faster you do this the better)
  • We book you in and send your tickets
  • You're ready for your Fraser Island adventure!

Please note - spots are not secured until you send back your booking form and we book you in. This whole process can also be done over the phone - so feel free to give us a call on +61 74914 2425 too!

Now that you’re on your way, here’s what you can expect to see

Fraser Island is known for many famous landmarks , unique quirks, wildlife , plant life and landforms. The places you visit will depend on exactly which tour you choose, as each has its own special itinerary and stop-offs. You can see a sample itinerary on each product page that will give you a good idea of the places you might see! We have also listed some here so you can start to envision what kind of activities you can look forward to! Compare each tour and the destinations they take you to here.

Lake McKenzie

Lake McKenzie is one of the most iconic locations on the island. The huge freshwater lake is a favourite place to relax and swim where visitors can enjoy the soft silica sands. This famous location is one of the many perched lakes on the island and is made up completely of rainwater with no incoming or outgoing water sources. For this reason, it is a special and delicate ecosystem that boasts crystal clear water that is picture-perfect.

Seventy Five Mile Beach

Seventy Five Mile Beach is the sandy highway on the eastern side of Fraser Island. It is the main roadway on the island and doubles as both highway and landing strip for aircraft. Every tour uses this beach to make their way around the island, and tag-along tours will allow guests to drive on it. It is a unique driving experience , as driving on sand is quite unlike anything else. The highway is also known for its dingo sightings! The local dingoes are often spotted along the shoreline at sunrise, looking for food and are generally quite curious about visitors!

fraser island tour book

Eli Creek is Fraser Island’s most famous creek. Running out onto Seventy Five Mile Beach, it is one of the most popular destinations on Fraser Island and is visited by many day tours and overnight tours. Most times during the day, you can see large groups of people hanging out and enjoying the flow of the creek, often walking to the top to lazily float their way down. To best enjoy this iconic location, you should bring along your own floatie and pump so you can float down the creek in comfort!

Champagne Pools

Fraser Island's Champagne Pools are unique seaside pools created by the forces of the ocean. They are the only place on the island where guests can safely enjoy the surrounding sea and relax in its salty water. Named Champagne Pools for the likeness to the drink, the pools are filled over and over with crashing waves that create a jacuzzi-like feel.

Lake Wabby is a disappearing lake that is found on Hammerstone Sandblow. The once large freshwater lake is slowly being consumed by the sands of the island, shortening its lifespan and making it even more special to those who visit it! It is an oasis in a sea of sand and is the deepest lake on the island at 11.4 metres. It is one of the more beautiful lakes on the island and worth a visit to anyone who can see it!

fraser island tour book

Central Station

Central Station is the former logging station found at the heart of the island. While it was once a flourishing operation, it is now a sanctuary of trees and wildlife. It’s the best place on the island to immerse yourself into the forest and enjoy it in all of its lush beauty. Central Station is also the location of Wanggoolba Creek - another must-see on Fraser Island.

These are just some of the places you can look forward to on Fraser Island. There is so much to see in between each destination and so much to enjoy at every place you stop. Check out more Fraser Island attractions here !

Fraser Island is one of the top destinations to see when visiting Australia. Fraser Island Day Tours: What to Expect + How to Book

Posted on Last updated: June 19, 2022

On a month-long tour of Australia, I was extremely excited for our Fraser Island Day tour which involved beautiful lakes, 4WD busses, exploring creeks, hiking in forests, and LOTS of adventures to make for an amazing experience.

The signs reading ’80’ along Fraser Island’s 75 mile beach are not the temperature… they are the speed limit. The world’s largest sand island, Fraser is also home to a long sandy highway where you will find massive 4WD busses zooming at great speeds, carrying awestruck passengers from around the world along the island’s only highway which doubles as a beach.

fraser island day tour

We took the advice of our tour guides not to have too big of a night before our Fraser Island day tour… because ‘bumpy ride’ was an understatement. These massive 4WD busses just barely fit through the one-way sand tracks throughout the island, which I wouldn’t even call ‘roads’ because they’re merely pathways carved out through the sand and trees.

This made for a super exciting ride, though. I was sitting at the back of the bus and literally caught air a few times on the way home. And this was while our tour guide blasted Justin Bieber and the whole bus was screaming along to the lyrics. It was a lot of fun.

About Fraser Island, or K’gari

Fraser Island is part of Great Sandy National Park, a World Heritage protected site due to the unique ecosystems present there. Our tour guide told us that Fraser is a “Stage Four” sand quay – meaning apparently that it is the most advanced of sand islands, complete with its own vegetation and plant and animal ecosystems.

It really is completely composed of sand – all the plants and full-on rainforests grow right out of the sand and all the pathways are sandy. I’ve never seen anything like it- it’s really fascinating, and a must-see when discovering Queensland.

K’gari is Fraser Island’s original name. This means ‘paradise’ in the local aboriginal language, and you will soon see why they called it that. The pristine waters, soft sands, and adventurous roots are just some of the many things that will ‘wow’ you on your Fraser Island day tour.

Booking Fraser Island Day Tours: Best Options

If you are looking to book a Fraser Island day tour, they generally leave from Hervey Bay, although you can sometimes find a tour from Noosa. I recommend the day tour below from Hervey Bay which is top-rated, all-inclusive, and visits all the stops below:

However, if you have more time, I strongly recommend doing a 2-day tour to Fraser Island. You can take one tour for the whole 2 days where everything is organized for you to and from Hervey bay including boat rides, coach transport, accommodation for one night, food, and all the stops below! If you have time, you’ll want to stay on this beautiful sand quay longer – that’s what I did!

Fraser Island Day Tour Stops: Lake Mckenzie

water in Lake Mckenzie on Frazer Island Queensland

The first place to expect on a Fraser Island day tour is Lake Mckenzie – which has been apparently voted one of the best places to swim in Australia ! The water is stunningly clear and pure, and the silica sand is so fine that it is supposed to make your hair and skin softer if you rub it on yourself (which we of course tested out.)

The lake formed from dead vegetation mixing with sand over years and years, creating a solid rock under the lake that keeps rainwater from seeping down through the sand. So, it’s essentially a lake comprised of pure rainwater sitting on top of sand… which makes for some pretty nice views.

It’s now only popular to swim here, though – many people grab a SUP stand-up paddle board for even better views and adventures. Many also, on the other hand, choose to catch some hot Australian sun rays on the sand! Learn more about Lake McKenzie.

Fraser Island Day Tour Stop 2: 75-Mile Beach Sand Highway

fraser island tour book

The next place you will visit on any Fraser Island Day Tours is the famed 75-Mile Beach. This is a long, flat, smooth beach that doubles as a highway… and even a plan runway (more on that later). And yes, it really is 75 miles long.

The tour companies that run these Fraser Island Day Tours all have massive 4WD busses with huge wheels that look quite silly until you understand what they’re for. We saw a wild dingo or two on our way out to the famous 75 Mile Beach, where the ride quickly went from bumpy to smooth as we started to jet along the wet sand of the beach.

It’s such a surreal experience to drive along a massive beach like this in the first place, but doing it in a monster-truck-like bus makes it even better! The waves lap up at your wheels as you pass by other busses and backpackers crammed into Land Rovers also zooming along the beach highway.

Our bus actually drove quite quickly, and I watched the scenery wizz by as we sped down the beach, easily missing busses going the other direction because there was so much space!

Fraser Island Day Tour Stop 3: Maheno Shipwreck

Maheno Shipwreck Fraser Island Great Sandy National Park

Fraser Island has a famous shipwreck called the Maheno Shipwreck at the north end of its long beach, which has been there since 1935. This boat was built in Scotland, used as a medical boat in Africa during WW1, and bought by the Japanese for scrap metal. They ran into some trouble when a storm hit on the way back up to Japan… and I think you can guess what happened there.

This massive hunk of metal has been a tourist attraction on the beach for over 82 years now, and was even used for target practice for pilots during WW2. It’s a necessary stop on any Fraser Island day tour and so cool to explore! These days you aren’t allowed to touch it, just admire it from afar. My favorite view of it was from the sky – but I’ll get to that later!

Fraser Island Day Tour Stop 4: Eli Creek Floating

Fraser Island Eli Creek floating

One of the best places that all Fraser Island day tours will stop at is Eli Creek, where the thing to do is to walk up the creek, get in the water, and FLOAT! Bring an inner tube or accept the challenge to float down this awesome, chilly water stream that hastily makes its way from the hills to the ocean.

I think I floated down it about four times before joining some girls playing volleyball on the sand. There were tons of people who drove their jeeps up to the creek and got out their speakers and barbecues for a chilled out beach sesh between the creek and the sea.

This is definitely a great chill spot on Fraser, and I would have stayed longer if I had time! However, it’s the largest of MANY creeks along 75-mile beach, so there are plenty more to explore, to.

Fraser Island Day Tour Stop 5: Forest Hiking/Walking

hiking on fraser Island Queensland

After some beach and lake time, the next obvious Fraser Island day tour stop is the incredible rainforest that grows here right out of the sand. There re plenty of hikes and trails on the island, and the day tour will choose an appropriate one for your trip.

Fraser has some of the most beautiful forests and rivers in the center of the island. We went on about a 30-minute walk through the vegetation and walked along the clearest stream I have ever seen (pictured above)! This river was so clear it looked like there wasn’t even any water in it at all, if that makes sense… it looked invisible!

A friend and I walked along a log that had fallen across the river and drank straight from it because it was that pure. We saw some trees that were over 2000 years old on this scenic walk too – it took five or six of us to make it all the way around!

And finally – a Flight From the Beach!

Fraser island scenic flight from th beach

When offered to take a ride on a small little plane that would take off right from the sand, I couldn’t really say no to such a unique experience! I mean, where else in the world does a beach double as a highway and a runway?! I’m all about getting the most out of any experience, and the flight just put the cherry on top of my awesome day on Fraser – most Fraser Island day tours will have this quick scenic flight as an optional activity.

It was such a thrill taking off from the sand, seeing the tour bus get smaller as we rose up. We flew right over the shipwreck, over five or six of Fraser’s iconic lakes and sand dunes (which formed from beach sand blowing up over the forest and slowly burying it – pretty cool), and the gorgeous 75-mile beach.

It was insane to watch little tiny cars speeding along the beach (see if you can pick out the cars and blue busses from the photos!) from the front seat of this little 9-seater plane, which I of course claimed as soon as I had the chance! I would definitely recommend doing this activity on Fraser island; it kind of brings the whole day of experiences together being able to see all the places you visited from high up in the sky.

And those are the most important stops on any Fraser Island Day Tour! Did you enjoy the tours I recommended? Would you stop anywhere else? Let me know in the comments below! Below are some more photos from the jaw-dropping scenic flight.

Fraser Island Tours from Rainbow Beach

Wake up early to a breakfast of beans, chipolatas, bacon & hash browns with toast before getting back in the cars to head further north.

Arrive at the Champagne Pools to cleanse under awesome waves crashing over into the natural rock pools, creating the bubbly “champagne.” Then back to the cars again for a short drive to our next destination.

Climb the stunning Indian Head (one of the few rocks formations on the island) to spot the amazing marine wildlife that can be seen off of Fraser Island. If luck is on our side, we can normally spot Humpback Whales (August – October), Sharks, Sea Turtles, Dolphins, huge Rays and many schools of tropical fish. Next a drive back to Pippies camp for lunch and then onto our next location. (Indian Head is currently closed to all visitors on the island.)

A short drive down the beach is the largest creek on the Eastern Beach; Eli Creek. Take a walk up the boardwalk with a rubber ring and float down these serene waters. Eli Creek pumps up to 4 million litres of fresh water into the sea every hour!

The second to last location of the day is a short drive from Eli Creek and Pippies’ Fraser Island Tours camp; the Maheno shipwreck. As the sun lowers in the sky watch the rusty wreck against the sea sky and incredible coloured sands seen up the coast.

Finally, a short stop at The Pinnacles on the way back to Pippies camp. Seen from the beach this sand formation is a prime example of the coloured sands seen all up the Fraser Coast.

Arriving back at Pippies camp to take a breather after an amazing day, wash away the sand in the amazing amenities block just a short walk from our campsite…… then more food! As part of our Fraser Family, we cook a chicken and vegetable stir-fry, followed by another night of socialising under some of the Southern Hemisphere’s most spectacular stars.

Fraser-Island-Tours-Rainbow-Beach-Tours

Wake up for your last day in paradise! Another quick and simple breakfast before setting off to the final location on our Fraser Island Tours.

Drive a moderate distance down the Eastern Beach to the entrance of Lake Wabby. Here we will walk for around 40-45 mins down a beautiful sand track through the bush and out onto the Hammerstone Sandblow. Located a short walk along the sand blow, Lake Wabby is the deepest lake on Fraser Island. So be sure to take a dip and chill next on its shores.

After our lunch on the beach, it is time to make our way back to the barge and Rainbow Beach. But not before hunting for the mysterious Eugarie and learning the meaning of our name: Pippies!

Arrive back at Pippies Beachhouse in Rainbow Beach between 1pm and 4:30pm. (dependant on the tides) Chill for one last night with your new Fraser Family!

A Guide to Visiting Fraser Island, The World’s Largest Sand Island

Guide to Fraser Island, Australia

Fraser Island is not the tropical island paradise that you might imagine when picturing the islands off Australia’s Queensland coast. No, you won’t find swinging palm trees here, as Fraser Island is instead home to untamed beaches, ancient forests, dune lakes, shipwrecks and more, making it one of the best adventure experiences that Australia has to offer.

As mentioned in the title of this blog post, Fraser Island is the largest sand island in the world, stretching 122km long. In case you were wondering: yes, a sand island is an island that’s made up of sand. That being said, Fraser isn’t just sand — there’s actually a lot to see!

Fraser Island is one of the “must-dos” on the east coast of Australia travel trail and you’ll find a ton of backpackers camping here. You’ll also find a lot of locals here too, especially those that love 4×4 drives and multi-day camping activities.

If you’re interested in seeing this incredible destination for yourself, here’s my guide to visiting Fraser Island!

Fraser Island’s 4×4 tag-along tours

Many backpackers travelling Australia’s east coast head to Fraser Island for multi-day camping and 4WD adventure packages, which is exactly what we did.

Half the fun of visiting Fraser Island, which lacks sealed roads, is the challenge of driving through the forests and along the beach. This can be intimidating for some, so it’s for this reason that many visitors opt for a 4×4 tag-along tour.

Led by an experienced guide who knows the island well, you’ll cruise the island in a convoy of jeeps, sleep in the national park, and explore the island’s best spots.

But with so many tour operators to choose from, which should you go with?

Drop Bear Adventures: Drop Bear’s signature 3D2N Fraser tour is one of the most popular options — tasty food, reliable 4WDs, beach cabin accommodation and a cracking tour guide to show you around. Book here.

Dingo’s: I personally went with Dingo’s and loved every second of it. The 3D2N tour was led by Jeff, a super knowledgeable, witty and all-around great tour guide. We stayed at a campsite and enjoyed campfire vibes in the evening, after days spent cruising our 4WDs, swimming in lakes, tubing down rivers and more. Book here.

Nomads Fraser Island: Another hugely popular option is Nomads Fraser Island. Book here.

It is possible to visit Fraser Island for one day; there are day tours that offer this. However, I truly feel that it deserves more than that in order to explore everything it has to offer. The most popular tour operators recommend their 3-day, 2-night tours, and I felt that this was an ideal length of time.

4WD of 75 mile beach, Fraser Island

Travelling Fraser Island independently

Despite what I said above, it’s totally possible to explore Fraser Island independently without a tour group. This will give you the flexibility of exploring the island at your own pace and will crank up the adventure factor big time.

That being said, travelling Fraser Island independently will require some planning and may work out to be more expensive, unless you’ve got a group of you to split costs. If you’re a solo traveller, joining a 4×4 tag-along tour will definitely be cheaper than going independently.

You’ll absolutely need a 4WD vehicle to get around — if you have your own, great! You can book a ferry transfer for your vehicle and will also need to obtain a vehicle access permit , which costs $52.75, then you’re free to drive around the island at your leisure.

But like most people visiting Fraser Island independently, you’ll probably need to rent a 4WD.

Aussie Trax appears to be the cheapest 4WD rental service. That being said, it’s still far from cheap at $350 per vehicle per day and also has quite bad reviews. If you’re travelling with a group, the price will be reduced, but the cost of the 4WD rental, along with the ferry and accommodation, means that independent travel to Fraser Island is not cheap.

Independent travel to Fraser Island will involve:

  • Renting a high clearance 4WD
  • Acquiring a vehicle permit
  • Booking a return ferry from the mainland to Fraser Island
  • Booking accommodation
  • Acquiring a camping permit if choosing to camp

Tip: When driving around Fraser Island independently, watch out for the tides. You’ll need to plan your whole trip around them. There are a few spots that can’t be passed during high tide, meaning you may be stuck on one side of the island until the tide goes back out. For instance, Eli Creek joins the sea and gets really deep during high tide. Trying to cross may just ruin your 4WD!

Where to stay on Fraser Island

If you’re heading to Fraser Island on an organised tour, then accommodation will be taken care of for you. Depending on the operator you’ve chosen, you’ll likely be staying in beach hut accommodation or at one of Fraser’s many campgrounds.

If you’re visiting independently, you can choose from a variety of accommodation options. There are a dozen or so hotels available on Fraser Island , which you can book ahead of your stay. These range from the luxurious Kingfisher Bay Resort to small holiday homes and beach huts.

You can also choose to stay in one of the campgrounds on Fraser Island — you can find a list of these here . If you are planning on camping, you’ll need to book camping permits in advance ($6.75 per person per night).

How to get to Fraser Island

Fraser Island is separated from mainland Australia by the Great Sandy Strait and so visitors must get there by ferry.

Hervey Bay and Rainbow Beach are the main launching pads to reach Fraser Island, and you can catch a ferry from either of these locations.

If you’ve booked a Fraser Island 4×4 tag-along tour, you’ll be picked up from Rainbow Beach or Hervey Bay (depending on the tour you’ve booked) and taken to the ferry, so you don’t have to worry about booking/getting the ferry yourself unless told otherwise.

If you’re travelling to Fraser Island independently, you can drive your 4WD to either Rainbow Beach or Hervey Bay to catch the ferry. The choice is yours!

Rainbow Beach: To get to Fraser Island from Rainbow Beach, you can drive to Inskip Peninsula to take a ferry across the channel, which will bring you to the most southern point of the island. Inskip Peninsula is about 14 kilometres from Rainbow Beach.

Hervey Bay: To get to Fraser Island from Hervey Bay, you’ll need to take the ferry from River Heads, which is 20 minutes south of the town. This ferry will drop you off at Kingfisher Resort on Fraser Island.

Things to do on Fraser Island

Drive along 75-mile beach.

As I mentioned before, there aren’t proper roads on the island, only narrow tracks that zigzag through the forest, and a beach that acts as a sort of “highway”. This beach is known as 75-mile Beach, and it stretches along Fraser’s east coast, allowing visitors to navigate up and down the island with ease. I absolutely loved cruising along the beach in our 4WD!

Driving along 75-mile beach on Fraser Island

Swim in Lake McKenzie

If you’ve heard of Fraser Island before, then you’ve probably also heard of Lake McKenzie. Situated in the centre of the island, this lake contains water so clear you can see your feet perfectly, and is surrounded by sand so white that you’re almost blinded by it.

The sand here is almost pure silica, so our guide told us we can exfoliate with it, and even wash our hair and teeth with it. I gave this a go, and my hair felt so soft and silky afterwards — you certainly can’t find sand like this in many places around the world.

Lake McKenzie is what’s known as a “perched lake,” which means that it’s filled only by rainwater, rather than being fed by a river.

Lake Wabby + Hammerstone Sandblow

Lake Wabby is a beautiful, green-coloured freshwater lake. It was really quite beautiful but sadly, the lake is situated adjacent to the Hammerstone Sandblow, which is gradually moving into the lake and will eventually completely bury it. Lake Wabby was lovely to swim in, especially as it required a 45-minute hike through the forest to reach it!

Hammerstone Sandblow, Fraser Island

Visit the Maheno Shipwreck

The SS Maheno was a 5000-tonne ocean liner that traversed Australia and New Zealand in the early 1900s. At the break of World War I, the Maheno was converted into a hospital ship and carried sick and wounded soldiers before being returned to her owners at the end of the war.

In July 1935, she was sold to a Japanese shipbreaker but never made it to Japan due to a raging cyclone. The ship and crew were helplessly washed onto the shore of Fraser Island, where attempts to refloat her were unsuccessful. She was left abandoned here and remains to this day.

You can freely walk in and around the wreck at your leisure. It’s located on the beach highway and is visible from quite a distance — you can’t miss it!

Maheno Shipwreck, Fraser Island

Go tubing down Eli Creek

Eli Creek is a fantastic spot. There’s a boardwalk that will take you a few hundred metres upstream, from where you can hop into the river and slowly float back down. The tour we went with supplied inner tubes for us to use, but be sure to bring your own if you’re travelling independently! This was possibly my favourite activity we did on Fraser; tubing down a natural lazy river in the sun…

Tubing down Eli Creek, Fraser Island

Look out for dingoes and other wildlife

Fraser Island is one of the few places in Australia where it’s possible to see wild dingoes. We saw four or five during our time on the island, all of them along 75-mile Beach.

They’re beautiful animals, native to Australia, and a protected species. Seeing them in their natural habitat is certainly a privilege, and while you shouldn’t be afraid of them, they have been known to be aggressive. Observe from afar, and enjoy watching them run about!

As well as dingoes, you might also spot dolphins and whales frolicking in the ocean. Crocodiles have also been observed in the west of the island.

Dingo on Fraser Island

Take a dip in the Champagne Pools

The ocean surrounding Fraser Island is pretty treacherous – rip tides, undercurrents, stingers and sharks make it too dangerous to swim. However, there is a cluster of rock pools formed by volcanic rock called Champagne Pools which you can visit to swim in the saltwater. The pools are quite a popular swimming hole, where the ocean crashes over the rocks into the pools to provide a beautiful place to swim. We spent a couple of hours swimming here, and found the water to be pretty warm and peaceful.

Champagne Pools, Fraser Island

View the scenery from Indian Head Lookout

Located on the eastern end of 75 Mile Beach sits a coastal headland known as Tuckee, which means ‘stone’ to the Aboriginals who lived on Fraser many years ago. The headland was named ‘Indian Head’ by explorer Captain Cook, who saw aboriginal people assembled here when he passed by.

Indian Head serves as a great vantage point, offering beautiful 360 views of the island to those who climb up to the top. The headland here is also a fantastic place from which to spot wildlife — whales and sharks can sometimes be seen in the ocean below.

Oh my goodness, I am so bummed I missed this when I was in Australia! The water all over looks so clear and gorgeous! I bet it was nice and warm too. I guess I’ll have to go back 😉

Yes you will 😉

I used to camp on Fraser all the time when I was a kid. I really need to go back for a visit.

Ah I’m jealous- you must have gotten to explore so much of the island! There is definitely a lot more of it I’d love to see.

Wow, what an awesome island to 4WD on! I’ve heard so much about it but never actually been. I’d especially love to see the Maheno Shipwreck and go for a swim in that beautiful, blue water!

It really was amazing to drive around the island- a little scary in parts as you needed to have pretty good control of the vehicle but it was a lot of fun!

Why do a tour to Fraser Island?

kgari-explorer-tour

If you’re not keen on spending multiple days on the island, you can indeed to Fraser Island as a day trip. While you could easily spend a week, if longer on the island, it is possible to see the main sights in one day. Although you won’t get a lot of time at each sight, you’ll still be able to see the amazing crystal clear freshwater lakes and most popular one: Lake Mckenzie, Champagne Pools, Eli Creek, Maheno Shipwreck and much more!

One of the best reasons for doing a tour to Fraser Island is you don’t have to worry about damaging your car or worse off, a hire car.

If you’re not an experienced 4wd driving on sand, you may find it quite tricky and you could send up rolling the car or getting bogged many times. Yes you don’t need to do a tour to see Fraser Island as long as you come prepared with paper maps (Google Maps often mixes up roads), check the tides and properly plan your trip.

We were always more of the do our own adventures kind of people, but since we recently visited Fraser Island on the K’gari Explorer Tour, I’m so glad we didn’t drive ourselves because I think it would have been a bit stressful. You can read all about the 3 day, 2 night tour in my K’gari Explorer Tour Review where I break down absolutely everything you need to know about this tour.

Here are the best Fraser island day tours from Harvey Bay.

lake Mckenzie at Fraser Island

THE BEST TOUR OF K’GARI is the K’gari Explorer Tours 2-day coach tour . You get to see all the highlights and are with a knowledgeable guide. I absolutely loved it and simply can’t recommend it enough

See prices here.

Fraser Island is actually the former name of the island. It is now officially is named K’Gari. This is the traditional name and it means “paradise”. This is the best way to describe this beautiful island in Australia because it truly is a paradise.

In this article, we tell you everything about the best things to do on Fraser Island for 2 days.

🔎 Table of Contents

Fraser Island Itinerary

Now is the time to discover exactly what to do in Fraser Island (K’Gari). Here is the itinerary

Day 1: Lake MacKenzie, Central Station, Lake Wabby and 75-mile beach

Today we will start exploring the middle part of the island, which is closer to the ferry terminal.

Stop 1: Going for a swim at Lake Mackenzie

Lake Mckenzie on Fraser Island Queensland Australia

Your first stop will be Lake McKenzie . It is a freshwater lake situated near Eurong. It’s very famous for being one of the clearest lakes in the world and for its super white sand.

You can get there by car. There is a sand road going from the 75mile beach to Lake MacKenzie.

Whether you are driving yourself or are on a bus tour, please note that this road is quite bumpy. Make sure to put your seat belt on and be careful!

From the carpark, there is a walking path that will lead you to Lake McKenzie.

Lake Mckenzie Fraser Island water

Once you step on the sand, you will discover how thin, soft and white it actually is. The colours are incredible there!

The lake itself features several shades of blue. On the edges, the water is crystal clear, completely see-through. As you get closer to centre it becomes this beautiful turquoise and then deep blue towards the middle.

It’s pretty incredible!

Lake McKenzie is a great place to go for a swim. The water is warm and is known for its health benefits! It gives you very soft skin and hair!

The beach itself is also beautiful. The sand is so white and soft! The perfect spot to lie down and work on your tan.

Stop 2: Visiting Central Station in the rainforest

creek boardwalk central station

From Lake McKenzie, drive to Central Station campground. This will take about 30 minutes.

Located in the heart of the rainforest, Central Station is an old historical site on Fraser Island.

For a lot of time, logging was a pretty big deal on the island. A lot of people were working there and cutting trees. Central Station was the main logging camp. Fraser Island is home to a lot of timber trees that were particularly good to make ships.

Eventually, logging on Fraser island was finally prohibited and a reforestation scheme started.

Fraser Island is the only place in the world where plants and trees grow in the sand. Most of the species are native of the island so preserving it is very important

However, because of its historical background, Central Station is now a good place to visit for travellers!

Strangling trees near central station on fraser island

You can go on the Central Station walk. It’s a great way to discover the rainforest and its unique features.

You will be walking along a beautiful creek with crystal clear water and loads of plants around.

Up until the early 1900s, people were allowed to drive through the creek but when Fraser island became world heritage, they decided to build the boardwalk so now we can all enjoy this beautiful place without spoiling it!

You will also discover the famous strangling trees on Fraser Island.

What is a strangling tree and how does it work, do I hear you say? Well, here are some explanations!

For that to happen, you will need one big tree and a second small one. The smaller one will grow branches all around the first one up and dig roots into the ground.

Over the years, the branches will completely strangle the tree and kill it to be able to get all the nutrients from the ground.

Stop 3: Visiting the dunes and Lake Wabby

Lake Wabby on Fraser Island

Once you’re done, it’s time to head back to the car and drive to Lake Wabby. This will take about 1 hour.

Lake Wabby is a freshwater lake located on the eastern side of Fraser Island, near the 75-mile beach.

It’s the deepest dune lake on Fraser Island.

Unlike Lake McKenzie, Lake Wabby features a deep green colour and is surrounded by sand dunes on one side, trees on the other. It’s a great place to explore as it doesn’t look like anything else on the island.

The dunes are pretty tall and it’s good fun to walk up and down. It’s not a hard walk but it takes about 45 minutes to get to Lake Wabby. Some of the dunes can be a bit steep.

sand dunes near lake wabby

It’s better not to wear shoes and they will be full of sand by the end of it. Thongs ( flip flops ) are not a good option either as they make it way harder to walk.

Once you finally get to the lake, you can go for a refreshing dip!

This is not an acidic lake which means that you can also see fish inside.

The great thing about Lake Wabby is that it’s not as popular as other places on the island which means it doesn’t get as busy.

Day tours don’t go to lake Wabby so you will only see people that opted for a multi-day tour or are self-driving.

Stop 4: Driving on the 75-mile beach during the golden hour

75 mile beach on fraser island queensland

Once you’re done with Lake Wabby, it should be late afternoon which means you can enjoy a drive on the stunning 75-mile beach during the golden hour!

The 75-mile beach is the main beach on Fraser Island. It lies on the eastern side of the island and as the name suggests, it’s 75 miles long.

This is an important landmark on Fraser Island.

Firstly, that’s where most Fraser island attractions are located.

Secondly, it’s the main highway on Fraser! Yes, you’ve heard me right! On Fraser Island, the beach is the highway.

This means you need to adopt the same rules than on any other road. Drive on the left, no speeding…

Before you hit the road, make sure to check the tides. You can only drive on the 75-mile beach when the tide is low. If not, you may be stuck! Something to definitely consider and pay attention to.

If you are travelling around Fraser Island with a tour guide, you have nothing to worry about. S/he will know exactly when to go.

Stop 5: Watching the sunset on Fraser Island (bonus)

Sunset on fraser island

If you are not a morning person, then watching the sunset will be a better option for you. Unfortunately, there isn’t much to see on the eastern side of the island as the sun sets in the west but you can see it from the other side.

If you are staying at Kingfisher Bay resort , then you are at the perfect place!

Alternatively, you can opt for a sunset cruise from Hervey Bay when you come back. See prices here.

Day 2: Maven Shipwreck, Pinnacles, Champagne Pools, Indian Head and Eli Creek

Today we will head further north on the island.

Stop 1: Watching the sunrise at Eurong Beach

Sunrise on eurong beach

If you are up for an early start, head to the beach for the sunrise. The 75-mile beach is located on the eastern side of Fraser Island, making it the perfect spot to watch the sunrise!

It’s so pretty and colourful! Definitely, an amazing way to start the day.

If you are staying at Eurong Beach Resort , you only have to walk a few minutes to the beach and can make it back on time for brekkie!

Stop 2: Going on a scenic flight

Fraser island scenic flight

Fraser Island is one of the only places in the world where you can take off and land on the beach!

If you are looking for a unique experience, taking a scenic flight on Fraser Island is a must-do!

Air Fraser Island is the company operating these flights. Prices start at $80.

You can find the planes on the beach. During this 15 minutes flight, you will see all the main Fraser Island attractions from the sky! It’s so pretty!

If you booked the 2-day Fraser Island Explorer tour , the driver will bring you there on the first day. If you want to, you can choose to go on the flight (it’s not included in the tour though).

Even if you don’t take the flight, it’s a pretty cool thing to see these planes taking off and landing on the beach!

Stop 3: Discovering the Maheno Shipwreck

SS Maheno Fraser Island shipwreck

The S.S. Maheno is one of the most famous Fraser island tourist attractions.

Little fun fact about the ship, Maheno means “island” in Maori. It was an important ocean liner and was even used during WWI.

In 1935, it was caught in a cyclone and was driven ashore, on Fraser Island.

It’s ideally located on the 75-mile beach, making it a great stop for people visiting Fraser island.

Fraser Island shipwreck Maheno

You can pull over on the side of the beach and go see the wreck. Please note, you shouldn’t be going too close to it. It’s recommended to stay at least 3 meters away from it as it can be dangerous.

There are loads of photo opportunities with the Maheno shipwreck. It’s very pretty and impressive.

Stop 4: Admiring the beautiful Pinnacles

Visiting the pinnacles on Fraser island

Situated only a few minutes away from the Maheno shipwreck, the Pinnacles are one of the most unique geological formations in Australia .

The sandy cliffs are known for their rainbow of colours!

If you’ve visited Rainbow Beach before, you will find it a bit similar except that these are like a cliff instead of a beach.

The coloured sand layers are a result of thousands of years of wind, waves and rain hitting the cliff.

It’s a very pretty sight and is very important in the aboriginal culture. Butchulla people have loads of stories and legends about the Pinnacles on Fraser Island.

You can stop on the side of the beach and walk to the Pinnacles. There is a small path. Make sure to keep an eye on the plants as there can be snakes and lizards there.

snake at the pinnacles on fraser island

Fraser Island is home to some of the most poisonous snakes in the world so that’s something to be aware of.

If you see one, don’t panic and just make your way. No matter what, do not touch it!

Stop 5: Swimming at the Champagne Pools

Champagne Pools Fraser island-29

Situated on the Eastern side of Fraser Island, between Waggy Point and Indian Head, the Champagne Pools are the only place on the island where you can safely swim in seawater.

It’s not allowed to swim on the beach as it’s particularly dangerous. There are currents and sharks!

The Champagne Pools are a natural rock formation lying between the ocean and the cliffs. They create natural protection and each time a wave hits the rock, the pool fills up with water.

The waves are so powerful when they crash against the rock that they make the water fizzy and bubbly in the pools, hence the name Champagne pools!

Fraser island champagne pools

They are a great place to swim on Fraser Island, take photos and enjoy some family time.

Stop 6: Soaking up the views at Indian Head

75 mile views from Champagne Pools

Indian Head is the most easterly point on the island. It’s situated in the northern part of the 75-mile beach.

This coastal headland is a popular spot on Fraser Island as it features the best views on the island!

You can park on the beach, at the bottom of the cliff. From there, you will see a walking path going up. Take it and walk through the bush until you reach the rocks and cliffs.

From there, you will be able to admire stunning views over the beaches and coast.

Indian head view point on fraser island

It’s also a popular spot to spot whales, dolphins and turtles!

whale watching from indian head fraser island

If you are visiting in winter, keep an eye at the horizon to see the whales.

turtle indian head fraser island

Pro tip: don’t forget to look at the water near the bottom of the cliffs. There are loads of turtles there. People often focus on trying to see the whales and completely miss out on the turtles!

Stop 7: Swimming at Eli Creek

Fraser Island Eli Creek

Eli Creek is located by the 75-mile beach near the S.S. Maheno. It’s the largest creek on the eastern side of Fraser Island. The water is so clear and pure!

The sand has been filtering the water for 100s of years which is why it’s so clear! The creek pours millions of litres of water into the ocean every hour. Quite impressive if you ask me!

Eli Creek is a very popular place on Fraser Island.

You can stop there for a picnic before going swimming. Most people stay in the part by the beach but it’s worth walking on the boardwalk down into the rainforest. It only gets prettier!

As you walk on the path, you will discover more vegetation and can truly appreciate how clear the water is. It’s a bit odd, to be honest, it looks almost green. In reality, it’s just completely see-through and the greenish colour comes from the reflection!

Extra activities worth adding your to Fraser Island Itinerary

Hiking the fraser island great walk.

Hiking on Fraser Island

If you want to explore the wilderness of Fraser Island, hiking the Fraser Island Great Walk is a must-do!

This 90km walk runs all the way from Dilli Village in the southern part of the island up to Lake Garawongera.

If you choose to walk the entire trail, you will need about 6-8 days to do so. You can break the walk into 6 sections of maximum 15km per day. There are campgrounds at every milestone.

This is a great way to truly experience Fraser Island, discover the top 5 things to do on Fraser Island and many secret spots!

Before you hit the trail, make sure to be prepared. Fraser Island is a pretty wild place.

There are loads of dingoes and very few facilities. You will need camping equipment, a good backpack, walking shoes and food. Try to take food that is carefully packed so the dingoes can’t smell it.

Alternatively, you can choose to only do parts of it. This is a great option for people who like walking but don’t want to go on such an adventure.

The best section to hike in one day is the one between Lake McKenzie and Central station. The walk is very scenic and it’s a great way to discover 2 of the most famous sites on Fraser Island.

Whale watching on Fraser Island

Whale watching on fraser island

Whale watching is one of the most popular activities on Fraser Island in winter.

Each year from June to October, the whales start their migration up the coast of Australia. There are many places in Australia where you can go whale watching but Fraser Island is definitely one of the best.

There are 2 ways to see the whales from Fraser Island.

If you are self-driving or on tour, you can go to Indian Head. This cliff is known for its beautiful views. In winter, it’s also a great spot to see the whales.

If you look at the horizon, you may see whales and even dolphins jumping around.

Of course, you never know if you will see some. You need to be a bit lucky but if there is one place to see them, that’s there!

Another option is going on a whale-watching cruise from Hervey Bay . You will be spending 4 hours on a catamaran and cruise around the Great Sandy Strait. It’s a great way to see the whales up-close. And it’s eco-certified!

Click here to see the latest prices.

Dolphin watching on Fraser Island

Dolphins on fraser island

Want to see dolphins instead of whales? That’s possible!

A good place to do so on the island is Indian Head. Exactly like for the whales, you can spot dolphins from there. The only issue with that is as dolphins are smaller, they can be harder to spot.

If you want to see it up close, you can opt for a dolphin cruise from Hervey Bay. See prices here.

Discovering Pelican Bank

If you fancy discovering one of Fraser island hidden gems, Pelican bank is the perfect place for you.

Located between Fraser Island and Hervey Bay, Pelican bank is a beautiful stretch of sand featuring crystal-clear blue waters. It’s a great way to explore some lesser-known parts of Fraser Island.

There are no facilities at Pelican Bank so make sure you are taking everything you need with you. It’s very well preserved and off-the-beaten-path!

It’s one of the rare places near Fraser Island where you can swim. The waters are quite shallow which is ideal for kids too!

The best way to get there is by boat from Hervey Bay. You can opt for a half-day tour that includes swimming, fishing and kayaking.

Discovering the aboriginal culture on Fraser Island

The traditional-owners of Fraser Island are the Butchulla people. If you want to know more about their culture, you can opt for a sunset cruise with a Butchulla guide.

It’s extremely interesting. The guide is passionate and will share fascinating facts about Fraser Island.

Learning more about the history of Fraser Island is a very interesting thing and it’s pretty unique.

You will also get to hear songs played with the didgeridoo. It’s the ultimate cultural experience on Fraser Island!

If that’s something you’d like to do, you can book the tour. It includes a cruise and the guided tour. See prices here.

How to get to Fraser Island

Fraser Island Ferry

Unfortunately, getting to Fraser island is not the easiest thing in the world. The island is entirely made of sand which means you need a 4WD vehicle to be able to get to take the ferry and get around.

If you own one, then you need to do is to get a permit for Fraser, book a ferry ticket and be very aware of the driving conditions on the island.

If not, here are your options.

Fraser Island 4WD hire & ferry

If you want to explore Fraser Island on your own, you can choose to hire a 4WD. There are several options to do that. You can choose to rent a 4WD from one of the usual car rentals or opt for a company specialising in vehicles for Fraser Island.

Fraser Island 4WD dingo is a popular company for that.

Hiring a 4WD for Fraser Island is not cheap but it will give you a lot of freedom to explore the island.

No matter what, you will still need to get a permit (extra cost) and be aware of the tides.

Getting stuck in the sand on Fraser Island is a common issue so if you have no previous experience, you may want to opt for a tour instead.

In terms of ferries, you can either take the Fraser Island Barges ferry from Hervey Bay or the Manta Ray from Rainbow Beach.

Fraser Island tours

Fraser Island Explorer tour

Booking a Fraser Island tour is the easiest way to explore the island.

They will take care of everything including food and accommodation. That means you don’t need to worry about being stuck, tides or even preparing your meals.

The tour guide (who is also your driver) has extensive knowledge of the island, its history and will give you plenty of tips.

Going on tour is also a great way to stay safe. Fraser Island is home to a lot of things that can hurt you. Dingoes, snakes… you name it! Guides will give you instructions to stay safe.

Lastly, because they take care of everything, the only thing you have to do is having fun! And believe me, you will have a lot of that!

If you are travelling on your own, it’s also a great way to meet people!

Here are the best tours to Fraser Island:
