“Nothing short of amazing! From the first communication with the team. They were so quick to respond and provide different options for tours. To our wonderful tour guide. We can not say enough about him. He was so knowledgeable, and took the time to explain the different wines to us and showed us around the vineyards. We loved our stop at le Castelet such a great little village tucked away with cute stores. And lunch in Cassis was delicious. Probably the best meal we had on our entire vacation! Such an enjoyable day all around. » – Joseph Esoff
An experience not to be missed.
We did a private full day wine tour of the Chateauneuf-du-Pape region. We were a group of 12, and had an absolutely brilliant day. The tour was well organised, guides were delightful & informative. They were very flexible too in letting us have input in certain vineyards that members of our group wanted to visit. The transport was comfortable, and a plus was that they could arrange delivery of the wine back to our home countries. Highly recommend and a tour not to be missed if you are in the region! Aveens
A highlight of our trip!
My husband and I were very happy with our wine tour experience! It was so nice to be in a small group where we could ask lots of questions and get a more personal experience. Our tour guide was so knowledgeable and shared so much information about the wine, the area, and the culture. The wineries we went to, were absolute gorgeous–beautiful views and delicious wine. What more could you ask for? We came with very little background knowledge of the wine making process so it was so fascinating to hear all about it. This tour was one of our favorite excursions and I would definitely recommend it, as it is fun, informative, and an amazing value! Katie F.
Perfect wine tour!
We had an amazing time on this tour! My fiancé and I have been on several wine tours in the United States and were interested to learn more about French wines, in particular wines from Provence. This tour was exactly what we hoped for! Our guide was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. He provided helpful background information about classification of French wines and then introduced us to wine making in Provence. We went to 3 vineyards – all were excellent and different!!! We really enjoyed the variety, and we were able to taste white, rosé, and red wines at each site (and Peter kindly showed us how to taste the wines properly). The town we stopped in for lunch was also enjoyable with multiple food options across different price ranges. Overall, we had a fantastic time and would highly recommend this tour to others looking for a more intimate introduction to the wines of Provence . Ptwice24 .
“Loved our wine tour around Sainte Victoire mount – the limestone mountains were incredible. Fantastic host, knowledgeable, friendly and loves to have a laugh. Wineries were superb and a great representation of the area. 10/10 – I only wish we could’ve stayed longer!! » – Brendan Garlick
“I just want to say how much we loved our tour with Provence Wine Tours. Our guide looked after our every need and was incredibly knowledgeable of the wine making process. All three wineries offered a different experience and all were friendly and welcoming. Cassis is a quaint seaside village as you promised and the overlook was outstanding-so glad our guide took us to the top! Thanks again for your services. We would highly recommend your company to anyone inquiring” – Brad Yungblut
“Fantastic team at Provence Wine tours; I’ve been seven times and cannot rate it enough. Always a destination of choice when I have friends who haven’t visited the South of France before. I’ve been lucky enough to have Stephane on many of my trips and he’s always impressed with his ease of manner, knowledge and ability to make the hours fly by. I look forward to many more trips. » – Thomas knapp
Amazing trip!
Our guide was amazing, and the crew was fun! We learned a lot and got to escape the city for a day! We visited 3 vineyards and enjoyed every minute. Donald D

The best season to visit Provence
Provence's beauty and warm hospitality make it an amazing destination year-round, thanks to its favorable climate and strategic geographical location. However, for the ultimate wine experience in Provence, the ideal seasons are undoubtedly spring, particularly during April and May, or the early days of autumn. Summer can be quite scorching in Provence, making it less conducive for wine enthusiasts. Nevertheless, from mid-June to mid-July, when lavender fields across Provence burst into vibrant blooms, it presents a unique opportunity to combine wine tastings with a scenic drive through these enchanting lilac landscapes.
What to do in Provence?
Provence is a gorgeous region that has a lot to offer to visitors. In between your winery visits, don't forget to visit some of the great cities around the region.
- Marseille is the capital city and is one of the most famous maritime cities in France.
- The luxurious seaside resort of St. Tropez is famous for being the favorite holiday destination of many A-list superstars.
- Arles is an eclectic city famous for its Roman legacy. Here, you can still see the incredible amphitheater and the Baths of Constantine.
What to taste in Provence?
During tours in Provence, you will have for sure the possibility to try one or more than one Provence AOC (Appellation d'Origine Controllée) Rosé. Depending on the grapes used to produce the rosé and the fermentation process, these apparently very similar wines develop their own taste. Despite its excellent ros és, Provence also produces red wines that are typically made from grapes like Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre, and Carignan. They are known for their full-bodied and robust flavors, often with hints of red fruit, herbs, and spices.
What to expect from a Provence wine tour?
Wine experiences in Provence are readily available at wineries throughout the various appellations in the region, each offering a distinct and authentic representation of the winery's heritage and story. These experiences typically include the opportunity to sample a diverse selection of wines, often accompanied by local delicacies like olive oil and cheese. Most wineries also offer cellar tours and comprehensive estate explorations as part of the package.

Grape Varieties Used to Make Rosé in Provence, France
What constitutes a classic Provencal Rosé wine? What grape varieties go into these wines?
Provence has a number of major grape varietals grown throughout the region. For red wine, these grapes include Mourvedre (the main grape used for wine production here), Grenache Noir , Syrah , Carignan, Cinsault, Counoise, Taniat and Cabernet Sauvignon . The white grape varietals grown are Grenache Blanc, Rousanne, Marsanne, Clairette, Bourbulene, Ugni Blance or Trebbiano and Rolle or Vermentino .
Provence has ideal grape growing conditions with its Mediterranean climate. Mild winters are followed by very warm summers with little rain fall and a significant amount of sun. In fact, this area receives double the hours of sunlight needed for grapes to grow and ripen at more than 3,000 hours of sun per year.
The Mistral winds play an important role in creating the climate of Provence and assisting with keeping the vineyards dry. This helps reduce occurrences of phylloxera by fending off bugs and pests. The winds are essentially Mother Nature’s natural pesticide!
The terroir and soil make up in Provence differs in so many ways, helping to make the wines from this region so unique. With relatively no uniformity, the lands contain limestone mostly in the West, crystalline schist and granite in the East, in addition to clay, sandstone and some volcanic soils.
The Geography & Tasting Notes of Provence
The southernmost boarder backs up to the Cote d’Azure, and in the East you have prime growing conditions on the slopes of the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence. Vines planted on the south facing slopes are offered protection from the damaging winds that can be created by the mistrals highest winds, whilst facing the seaside absorbing the sea’s spray.
One of the most predominant features that can be found in the wines made from this region is the unmistakable aromatic bouquet of lavender, juniper, thyme and rosemary — also known as Garrigue or Maquis. Other defining notes can be that of wild strawberry, raspberry, wet slate, mint, salted watermelon and candied grapefruit.
With its dreamy terrior, sun kissed skin hued wines, and rolling plains wafting of sensual herbs, Provence makes for one of the best and probably underrated places to produce wines!
What Rosé Wines Do You Recommend Drinking?
My go to is Fleur de Mer ‘Cotes de Provence’, Grenache, Cinsault, Syrah
If you are like me and swoon over Provencal Rosé’s, consider these other regions producing ‘Pink Wines” that will make you think outside of the box.
First, drive roughly 65 miles Northwest of Marcellie . Kissing the border of the Languedoc you will find the Tavel region of France in the Cotes du Rhone , wine production here is 100% Rosé.
Tavel’s major grape varietals are similar to Provence. Cinsault and Grenache make up most of the production, followed by Syrah and Mourvedre. Here you will also find a Mediterranean climate affected by Mistral winds. In the Western part of Tavel you will find slate covered with chunky limestone. In the East, you’ll find ‘galets roules’ – round stones formed from centuries of flood waters. In the South, expect to see sandy fine-grain soils. Here the wines evoke flavors of raspberry coulee, white pepper, peach, green olive and cherry.
Other regions around the world are also making fantastic Provencal-style Rosé’s!
Try the Chateau de Trinquevedel, Grenache, Cinsault, Clairette
Let’s take a boat 90 miles from the Italian boarder into the Mediterranean Sea to the Isle of Corsica . The island is a territorial collective of France, but for many years it belonged to Italy. Many of the region’s winemaking traditions and grape varieties are Italian in origin.
Corsica’s terrain is mountainous, with soils rich in schist, granite, chalky limestone and clay. Most of the islands vineyards are perched along the coastlines. The vines receive an ideal amount of sun per year, at about 2,750 hours.
Major grape varitals grown here are the Nielluccio (ancestor of the Sangeovese), Grenache, Sciacarello and Vermentino. These Rosé’s are produced in the Saignee method. Corsican wines are unlike any you have had with the same grape make up. These wines have notes of green olive brine, fig, chamomile and plum.
My favorite Rosé is from Maestracci ‘E Prove’, Nielluccio and Sciacarello
Let’s now make our way to the Russian River Valley in Sonoma County California . Soils here consist of sandstone, loam – “Goldridge soil”, clay and alluvial.
Resting in the heart of Sonoma County near the rugged terrain of the Pacific Ocean you will find the Russian River Valley. This region is known for warm day time temperatures and brisk evening fog rolling off of the Petaluma Gap. Sonoma is famous for its Chardonnay and Pinot Noir , and arguably put the New World on the map for these varietals.
Try the Inman Family ‘Endless Crush’, Pinot Noir of Rosé
It’s loaded with notes of wild Strawberry, watermelon, ruby grapefruit and honeysuckle.
Frequently Asked Questions About Provence Wine Tastings and Tours

The best time to visit for wine tours in Provence is typically during the harvest season, which occurs from late August to October. This time allows Winetravelers to witness the grape harvest and the initial stages of the winemaking process. Spring, with its blooming lavender fields, is also a popular time for wine tours and tastings.

Your reviews, a highlight of our trip.
Katie F.
Amazing trip!
Our guide was amazing, and the crew was fun! We learned a lot and got to escape the city for a day! We visited 3 vineyards and enjoyed every minute. Donald D
Ptwice24 .
Aveens
“I found this company after a long research of wine tours in Nice and started working with them, Provence Wine Tours, before making my final decision. What really impresses me is the communications with the team. They were very professional, answered promptly for any questions or concerns, no hidden or missing information, AND were flexible to tailor the tour per your preferences. They followed up and reminded every step of the way leading to the actual tour day. Ghislaine is our tour lady, very sweet, informative, and flexible during the tour. I can’t express enough my appreciation over the process and their service. For your peace of mind and bang for your bucks, they are the one!” – roostahktchn M
“French Riviera Wine Tours was fantastic! We spent a wonderful, informative day in Cotes de Provence. Our guide was terrific, wineries were great and countryside beautiful. So much fun!” – Gina Ferrari
“Amazing tour in a small group! A handful of very cool wineries that you’d never find on your own. Interesting local history and ecology too! » – David
« We absolutely loved this tour. The wines were great and our stop for lunch gave us a chance to explore a little town we would’ve never stumbled upon on our own. One of the best days of our trip! Highly recommend » – Cierra & Anthony

Before I explain the best tours, I want to explain some background information on the famed Provence wine region. That way, you have a little foundation and better understand what you have to look forward to! 🤠 First, France’s Provence wine region has been making wine for over 2,600 years. This makes it the oldest viticultural (wine-producing) area in all of France, eclipsing the well-known Bordeaux wine region by about 600 years! With such a long-standing history, there are understandably quite a few wineries in the region… as in over 400 of them! Talk about being a vineyard-rich countryside 😅
This region of France is able to produce so much wine because of its favorable climate, which is largely thanks to the Mediterranean Sea. The Mediterranean Sea regulates the weather such that there are plenty of sunny days and a few rainy days. In addition, the region has something called the “Mistral” wind, which also helps to keep the vineyards dry and free of pesky bugs. Add the unique geography and soils infused with limestone and crystalline schist (granite); the region has perfect conditions for growing an assortment of grapes! As a result, there are a total of 9 regions or AOC (Appellation de’Origin Contrôlée) in Provence. I won’t dive into all 9 as you’ll learn about them on the tours, but there are about 450 AOCs in all of France!
Which Wine Is Provence Most Famous For?
The Provence wine region is renowned worldwide for its exquisite rosé wines. That’s right, 88% of Provence’s wine production is the beloved, delicate pink-hued wine! There’s even a one-of-a-kind research institute dedicated to studying and perfecting the art of crafting rosé! Currently, a rosé from Provence is usually a harmonious blend of Grenache, Counoise, Cinsault, Syrah, and Mourvedre!
And while rosé may steal the spotlight, it’s important to note that Provence is also home to exceptional red and white wines. Thus, you can expect to taste a good mixture of rosés, reds, and whites in your wine-tasting experience!
Map of Provence Wine Region
If geography isn’t your strong suit, here’s a little map to give you an idea of the general Provence area in relation to a few popular cities along the French Riviera. As you can see, Nice is located near the Italian border with the rightmost pin. About 30 minutes from Nice is Cannes, which is renowned for hosting the annual Cannes Film Festival.
The pin that is almost directly beneath the purple pin is Toulon, which is a much smaller port city. Thus, you’ll find a lot of ships, warships, and maritime-related activities in the city if you visit. To the left of Toulon, about 1.25 hours west via train, is Marseille. This is the second most populous French city and one of the oldest cities to be established in France. It functions as one of the most important port cities and as you explore the city, you’ll notice distinct Brutalist architecture!
Finally, the leftmost pin is Avignon, which is a quaint medieval town, much like the historic city of Carcassonne . This small city was once the center of Christianity with 7 generations of popes residing in the Palace of the Popes!
Alright, now that you have a bit of background knowledge on the prolific and famous Provence wine region, it’s time to dive into the best Provence Wine Tours! Just as a heads up, I’ve broken the tours up by location, this way you can easily find a tour that fits your itinerary based on where you’re based. I’ll start off with Nice in this first section. Whew! Yeah made it! Alright, I’m someone who likes visuals to quickly tell the differences between my options. So, if you’re like me or have simply forgotten the nuances of each of the Provence wine tours that leave from Nice, here’s a little table summarizing them. If any of the tours interests you, simply click the name and you’ll be linked to the full page that contains the fine details.
🇫🇷 PRO TIP: Oh and if you’re viewing this on your mobile, consider turning your phone sideways such that the words are reading across the long side. I find that this enhances the chart’s readability.
My very biased two cents is that these yes, it’s worth it. Let me explain from a broke adult perspective lol… because I wouldn’t know what it’s like to be a financially stable adult — yet 🤠
First, these tours take you directly to la crème de la crème Provence wineries where you get to sip on the region’s renowned wines and indulge in local gastronomic delights. And as mentioned previously, there are literally hundreds of wineries in the region, so finding the best ones can be difficult.
Not to mention, if you aren’t planning a road trip through the region, transportation to the wineries is another factor you’ll have to work out.
Moreover, a wine tour allows you to embark on this journey with a knowledgeable guide who possesses an intimate understanding of the region, its vineyards, and its cultural heritage. When I first solo traveled, I wouldn’t do tours because I was so broke (typical college student vibes I know 🥲).
However, I now prioritize these incredible experiences over staying in super nice hotels (okay most of the time). I’ve realized how tours grant you the valuable opportunity to delve deep into the local culture, which is so much better than reading from your phone.
Finally, these tours provide a chance to connect with fellow wine enthusiasts from around the world. One of my favorite bits about traveling is just getting to meet new people. These tours create an easy outlet for swapping stories and making lasting connections with people who share a common appreciation for wine, culture, and exploration!
So, if you have the means (because I am not trying to endorse going into debt lol) I absolutely believe in embarking on a cultural experience through the breathtaking region of Provence!
- ✅ Book ahead of time: Whether you’re traveling through Paris or Toulouse, drinking wine is like the national pastime in France…okay, maybe next to protesting 😅 Regardless, I recommend booking ahead of time to ensure you get your preferred time slot and experience. Some of these small group tours will actually cancel if you wait until the last minute because the tour operators don’t think there’s any interest and have a minimum requirement to run.
- 🍴 Have dietary restrictions? : If your food tour includes lunch, make sure to inform the guide beforehand about any dietary restrictions or allergies you have. They are usually able to make accommodations as long as you give them advance notice.
- 🍷 Don’t drink on an empty stomach: The golden rule of drinking is always to eat beforehand! I didn’t know that my first time and had to learn the hard way… 🥲
- 💧 Water Bottle — Similarly, although you will be consuming a lot of wine, it is crucial to still drink some water.
- 🌞 Check the weather: Check the weather before you leave and plan accordingly. I.E. Don’t forget to sunscreen!
- 🚗 Check departure points and times: Please ensure that you verify the meeting location for your tour and consider the travel time from your accommodation. Note that only a few tours offer hotel pick-up.
- 📸 Bring your Camera: Make sure to document your experience by taking lots of pictures so that you can share the story with your loved ones when you return home!
- 🤠 Enjoy the experience: And of course, remember to have a fabulous time fully immersing yourself in the rich culture of the Provence wine region.
If you are staying in Nice, here are a few recommendations on where to stay based on where I’ve stayed and the research I’ve done for my multiple visits to Nice!

Yes! You can absolutely visit wineries in Provence even if you decide to not go on a tour. You would just need to make a reservation for touring. I would also recommend renting a car as public transportation is very limited outside the city.
Depending on the experience, a Provence wine tour can range from about $100 USD to $500+ USD for the more exclusive, private tours.
Although summer is when people are usually available to travel, I’d argue the best time of the year for a wine tour in France is April – June or September to October . I’ve been to France during both of these times of the year and it’s so much more enjoyable. You don’t have to deal with throngs of crowds, hotels cost half the price, and some of the tours actually provide small discounts! One thing to note is that harvesting season typically runs from August until October. Thus, vintners are often busy in the fields, so you’ll want to be sure to book in advance as supply tends to dip.
Most people will argue that Bordeaux is the region of France with the best wine. However, I’d argue that it really depends on the type of wine you prefer. Other wine regions in France include the Rhône Valley & Beaujolais wine region , Loire Valley, Burgundy, Champagne, and Saint Émilion to name a few.
Yes LOL. From my experience, this is the one French stereotype that always holds true. The French love their wine and they will drink it every chance they get!
In conclusion, Provence’s most famous wine is undoubtedly its exquisite rosé. With its iconic pale hues, delightful aromas, and refreshing character, Provence rosé embodies the essence of the region’s winemaking tradition. That said, the region also offers elegant reds to its vibrant whites that reflect the unique terroir and passion of the winemakers, making Provence a true paradise for wine lovers. So, if you’re keen on delving into the rich wine culture of France, be sure to take a fabulous Provence wine tour during your stay on the French Riviera !

PROVENCE WINE TOURS
Provence in the South of France is considered as the most beautiful place in France, and it stretches all the way from Arles and Avignon to Monaco , anchored by the Mediterranean sea. The region’s natural beauty, its warm climate, picturesque Medieval villages, traditional open markets, colors, aromas, olive oil, sun flowers, lavender fields and of course its wines make Provence an irresistible destination to both the French and to visitors.
What gives Provence its distinctive character and unique wines is, among other things, its particularly diverse landscape swept by the Mistral wind and its warm dry and sunny weather. Provence is more and more popular and recognized for its wines, especially about its rosé wines (some of the World’s best rosés) but it also produces some remarkable strong and full-bodied red wines which can age several years in barrels, as well as tender delicate and airy whites . If you want to discover the wines and the beauty of Provence countryside in a relaxing, welcoming atmosphere with an English-speaking guide, then our private Provence wine tours are for you! We offer several destinations to visit and taste wine in Provence such as Aix en Provence, Luberon , Baux de Provence , Bandol & Cassis and the world famous Châteauneuf du Pape . And if you want to discover Provence off the beaten tracks , you can also contact us in order to organize your own tailor-made trip whether it is for one day, for a week or more. We are strategically located in Aix en Provence in order to travel around easily to all destinations. If you like the wines you have tasted during your wine tour and if you want to buy some, we offer the service to ship your wine home. We are open all year round and look forward to welcoming you at Planet Provence.
I just returned from an excellent wine tour with Brice from Planet Provence. He picked myself and my parents up from our hotel and drove us to two excellent wine venues. The entire trip was very professional and he was happy to translate anything we didn’t understand and ask questions for us. He even pointed out highlights on the very comfortable journey to each venue. Highly recommended.
Our group of four mad Irish and this one American spent a week with Brice in early May. We experienced the beauty, the food, the wine, the history and the wonderful people of Provence, having great fun along the way. Gourmet restaurants, an electric bike ride around Sainte-Victorire Mountain (Cezanne’s favorite subject), a lesson buying food at local markets in Aix-en-Provence followed by our own cooking class with a great chef, exclusive visits to small, family owed wineries, farms, and most importantly, great conversations with wonderful, passionate producers. Brice opens doors for your experience you wouldn’t otherwise know exists. He organized great accommodations, he picked us up and effortlessly guided us each day with patience, flexibility and humor needed with four mad Irish. A trip to Provence couldn’t possibly have been organized better.
What a fabulous time we had with Brice. We were celebrating a friend’s 30th birthday – he took us on a private wine tour and even brought along surprise helium balloons! The car was very comfortable and his knowledge of the region and wines was fantastic. No request was too small. Communication prior to the tour was easy. The tour over ran by an hour, but Brice didn’t mind and dropped us straight at dinner. We laughed all day! What a great way to see the region. I’d highly recommend this tour. We’ll be back!
It was a great experience, I speak french but my parents do not so it was great that he spoke english so well. He had a vast amount of knowledge and it was really nice to learn about the wine that we were tasting. A great experience and I completely recommend doing this! Great for everyone in the family, as long as they can taste the wine!
My wife and I celebrated our 6 year anniversary in France and one of the highlights was our personal wine and olive oil tour with Brice and Planet Provence. Absolutely outstanding service and personal touch made this a Must Do! Brice had extensive knowledge of the region, the wineries, the grapes, and most importantly the Best Rosé! We were greeted by Brice at our Hotel Villa Gallaci and chauffeured by luxury private car to Mas De Cadenet, Chateau Saint-Hilaire and Moulin de Coudoux where we experienced fine wines and fresh olive oil with private personal tours guiding us through the entire process of start to finish with a tasting of the best each had to offer!
Travelers will get lost in the City of Art, drive through the French countryside, and taste wines from the well-regarded terroirs in Provence in our customized wine tour.
We have envisioned several Private Tours of Provence, designed for you to customize to your specific interests. An English-speaking local will lead you through the beautiful towns and vineyards of the South of France. Your guide will share his expertise of French wine and illustrate local tasting techniques. Accommodations in beautiful 4-star & 5-star hotels and in-country travel is prearranged. We can also make a “à la carte” trip tailored exclusively for you according to your wishes ! Please contact us in order to make your trip.

A generous region of many contrasts, both luminous and welcoming
Historically specializing in rosé, Provence has a millennium-old wine-growing history. Its vines stretch out over ever-changing landscapes, around historic cities, on the Mediterranean coast and into the hinterland.
From the gates of Nice to the Camargue region, the Provence wine route takes you from the seaside to mountains and scenic villages perched up high. It combines 430 vineyards and cooperative wine cellars , all of which are committed to quality. This guarantees you a personalized experience, wine tastings with an expert (sometimes a fee is charged) and tours of the wine cellars and vineyards (sometimes by appointment). In between your vineyard trips, discover the boutique hotels of Aix-en-Provence, the Sainte-Victoire Mountain (which was painted by the famous French painter, Cézanne), and the Roman amphitheatre of Fréjus. You can also explore the vineyards on foot, by bike or even by boat.
In Provence, rosé is anchored in the traditions of wine growing: the climate, the locations of the vineyards and the well-suited grape varieties. Over many years the winemakers have developed extensive expertise. Provence also produces strong well-rounded red wines as well as refreshing and very aromatic white wines .
1. Explore the Provence region: its maritime sites, famous cities, history, authentic markets and lifestyle.
2. Play apprentice winemaker: learn how to tell the difference between the different grape varieties at the winemaking workshop in the vineyards.
3. Make the most of fine food with gourmet walks in the vineyards accompanied by the winemakers and major restaurant owners.

Srn member links, celebrate mother's day with these 10 delicious global rosés.
This holiday, think pink with delectable wines made from Pinot Noir, Tempranillo and more in France, Spain, California and Washington state, most priced $25 or less
- Larry Rubin
Rosé wine frequently features at spring and summer parties, including Mother's Day brunch . But it can be challenging finding the right pink bottles for sunny-weather festivities. In a competitive and highly seasonal market, it's easy to be distracted by marketing tactics like eye-catching bottle designs and branding initiatives. Plus, these efforts can sometimes inflate price tags without a corresponding bump in quality.
Complicating things further, consumers may feel loyalty to a particular rosé brand. However, there's no reason to limit your scope with pink wines! As this week's selection and Wine Spectator 's blind tastings show , there are many delicious rosés made around the globe, and they are frequently easy to find on shelves at affordable prices. Even better, this variety presents a delicious opportunity to compare different pink styles . (Incidentally, a degustation could be a special way to enjoy wine during Mother's Day.)
This lineup includes the Domaines Bunan Bandol Rosé Mas de la Rouvière 2023, a minerally, big-shouldered rosé with peach, ginger and rose notes. Read on to get our score and full tasting note for this rosé and nine others!

Your reviews, perfect wine tour.
Ptwice24 .
Amazing trip!
Our guide was amazing, and the crew was fun! We learned a lot and got to escape the city for a day! We visited 3 vineyards and enjoyed every minute. Donald D
Aveens
Katie F.

The Bestselling Wine In The US Does Not Have A Hefty Price Tag
The assumption that a hefty price tag equates to quality is a common misconception when it comes to wine . In fact, in the United States, one wine defies this stereotype by outselling many high-priced competitors while maintaining an affordable price point. While some might expect a Napa Cabernet or a prestigious Bordeaux to claim the title of best-selling wine, the crown surprisingly belongs to a delightful pink drink: Whispering Angel Rosé.
This French import from Provence has soared in popularity, captivating American wine drinkers with its refreshing taste and approachable price point of $22.99. Unlike some high-end rosés, Whispering Angel offers a taste of the South of France without breaking the bank. This Provence-style rosé embodies elegance, freshness, and a delightful balance of fruit flavors. The pale pink hue and crisp, dry style evoke the idyllic French countryside.
However, what sets this brand apart is not just its taste, but also its accessibility. Whispering Angel's branding taps into an aspirational image, offering a taste of the French Riviera at an attainable price. Its price point has allowed it to appeal to a broad range of wine drinkers, from millennials exploring the world of wine to seasoned connoisseurs seeking a refreshing option — making wine appreciation more inclusive and enjoyable by offering quality rosé at an accessible price point for everyday enjoyment.
Bring on the wine revolution
One of the critical factors driving Whispering Angel's success, alongside the trend of rosé consumption in the U.S. skyrocketing in recent years, is its marketing strategy. From partnering with Coachella to drawing influence from modern bars and trendy restaurants, founder Sacha Lichine explored unique ways to penetrate the zeitgeist — which ultimately paid off. The brand, whose fans include Adele and Victoria Beckham, also uses celebrity status to raise awareness.
Another aspect that contributes to Whispering Angel's appeal is its versatility. Like many Provence rosés, it harmonizes well with various foods — including Niçoise Salad , grilled veggie pizza , and spicy shrimp scampi — making the wine a reliable choice for different occasions, from casual gatherings to formal dinners. Its crisp acidity and vibrant fruit notes make it a refreshing choice for warm summer days, yet sophisticated enough to accompany a range of cuisines year-round.
Ultimately, Whispering Angel strikes a balance between value, a certain level of quality, and brand recognition. The combination of taste, affordability, and marketing savvy has made Whispering Angel the toast of the town (or, should we say, table?), appealing to a diverse range of wine enthusiasts and cementing its place as a beloved favorite in the market.
