Tour Feedback_Gujarat Senior Special- GTZD221223/A : Hello Veena World! I alongwith my wife had traveled in the above tour from 22 Dec 23 to 28 Dec 23. We joined the tour group at Ahmedabad. We were warmly welcomed at the airport by Veena World local manager followed by our tour manager Shri Sachin Chaudhari. Shri Sachin always commenced the journey for all the days by taking the name of Lord Ganesha!! We were lucky to have Shri Sachin as our tour manager, who is well experienced and has vast knowledge of all the places we visited. He always explained in detail the mythological history of all the places. He has lot of patience and has taken utmost care of us (Senior citizens) during the entire tour. All the hotels and transportation arrangements were excellent. The bus driver and the support staff provided safe journey on all the days. Veena World posted special/ additional tour manager at various locations who were also co-operative and helped us during the visits. Also the local guides/ pandits were also remarkable. During the hotel stays, special functions such as Christmas party, fashion show, etc was organized by your teams which are memorable moments spent with other tour members. Itinerary (Day Wise)

Ahmedabad – gir (1 night).

Tour guests will meet at Mumbai airport as per their scheduled flight and they will meet Veena World tour manager at the airport and proceed to Ahmedabad. Upon arrival, We visit Adalaj Stepwell. Later we proceed to Sasan Gir. In the evening we have a short Meet & Greet session.

• Hi tea & Pakoda at Sasan Gir Hotel

Sasan Gir – Somnath (1 Night)

Today we visit the Gir Interpretation Zone at Devaliya. Further, we proceed to Somnath. Upon arrival, we visit Bhalka Tirth, Triveni Sagam, Geeta Mandir and Somnath Temple. In the evening, treat yourself to the divine & mesmerizing sound and light show at the Somnath temple.

Somnath – Dwarka (2 Nights)

Today we visit Kirti Mandir – the place where Gandhiji was born and Sudama Temple – The only Sudama Temple in the world at Porbandar. Later we proceed to Dwarka. Upon arrival, we walk on Gomti River Ghat. Later we visit Dwarkadheesh Temple, then we witness evening aarti at the temple.

Today visit Rukmini Temple and Dwarka Lighthouse. Later we visit Nageshwar Jyotirling and Bet Dwarka. We also visit Shivrajpur Beach – a blue flagged Indian beach long with pristine stretches of calm water. In the evening, we enjoy some free time for shopping.

Today early morning, we proceed to Ahmedabad – One the most colourful city of India.

Detail Itinerary

Day 1: srinagar, venice of the orient.

Arrive at Srinagar Airport by flight by noon 12:00 - 3:30 PM. With its almost medieval charm, the city of Srinagar has sights, smells and sounds to enchant the most jaded traveller. On the way from airport to Dal Lake, admire chinner trees on side walk, Kashmiri men and women traditionally dressed in 'Koshure' or 'Pheran'. In a while, river Jhelum will welcome and accompany you to the land of lakes and gardens. You will get first sight of panoramic Nagin and Dal lakes glittering in the afternoon sun.

Day 2: Mughal Gardens

The gems of srinagar.

Get up early to embrace a beautiful morning on Dal lake - the lagoons covered with water lily, the floating hamlets and the colony of houseboats. Look out for vivid color of kingfishers, greylag geese and purple moorhens.

Today we shall visit the gorgeous Mughal Gardens at the lap of nature in a vast green landscape overlooking the pristine Dal Lake and with backdrop of high Himalayan mountains. Visit Chasma Shahi, the royal spring, built by Mughal emperor Shah Jahan, at the left bank of the Dal Lake, with Zabarwan Mountains at the backdrop. Spend time at Shalimar Bagh and Nishat Bagh, the most famous Mughal Gardens in Srinagar, for its leafy chinar trees of dim vista, shallow terraces, smooth sheets of falling water, and wide canals linked to Dal Lake. Return back to houseboat and enjoy dinner.

Day 3: Gulmarg

Meadows of flowers.

After breakfast we will check out of houseboat to visit Gulmarg, The Meadows of flower. Gulmarg was earlier known as Gaurimarg, on the name of Goddess Parvati- the wife of Lord Shiva.

Upon reaching Gulmarg parking area, walk enjoying the view of picturesque Gulmarg, along the famous Gulmarg golf course with backdrop of snow-capped Afarwat mountains. Gulmarg golf course is the highest golf course in the world. We will go for Gondola (Cable car or ropeway - Tickets are subject to availability due to govt controlled operations with limited seats) - 1st phase ride to reach the high Apharwat Mountain - Kondori Valley at 8500 ft. From here you will get a mesmerizing view of Gulmarg.

Note: Gondola Tickets are subject to availability due to govt controlled operations with limited seatsIf you want to go for 2nd phase of Gondola which is appx 13000 ft high, please inform us at time of booking for adiditonal cost. Return back to Srinagar for night stay.

Day 4: Pahalgam

Valley of shepherds.

Post breakfast we will leave for Pahalgam. On the way we will visit ruins of Vishnu temple at Avantipur and saffron shop at Pampore town, known for high quality saffron. Soon the foam flecked green stream of river Lidder will join us and take us through orchards of apples and oranges to Pahalgam, the Valley of Shepherds.

We will check in to the hotel overlooking Lidder river and snow capped Dhawladhar mountain range. After some rest, you may go for a leisure walk to Pahalgam Bazaar and parks on the bank of river Lidder. Upon returning to hotel, enjoy dinner.

Day 5: Pahalgam

Meadows and mountains.

Look out for a misty morning in Pahalgam from the window of your room. See how the white foggy curtain draped over the valley slowly disappears, giving way to astonishing range of snow clad and ever green mountains. Go for a morning walk on the bank of river Lidder and enjoy your breakfast in the serene atmosphere. Today we will go for sightseeing to gorgeous Aru Valley - mesmerizing lash green valley by the Lidder river surrounded by snow-capped mountains.

After lunch and some rest, you may go for an afternoon horse ride to Swiss Valley or Baisaran, a green carpet and flower covered valley dotted with dense evergreen forest of Deadar, Pine and Safedi trees. You may also go to Betab Valley by the Lidder River where several mountain streams and waterfalls will greet you on the way. Return back to dinner at hotel.

Day 6: Srinagar

Mesmerizing valley.

Post breakfast, we will check out from hotel at Pahalgam and proceed to Srinagar. In the afternoon, visit Hazratbal Shrine in old town of Srinagar, a photographer's delight with its labyrinthine roads, bustling bazaars and many ancient shrines and mosques.

Go for a darshan of Shankaracharya Temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva and situated on a hill overlooking the Dal Lake and Srinagar town. This ancient temple was built in 200BC and was visited by Adi Shankaracharya. During Amarnath yatra, Chhari-Mubarak is brought to Shankaracharya temple for puja before it proceeds for Amarnath cave and marks the conclusion of Amarnath Yatra every year. An effort to climb the hill is worth once you see the dazzling Dal Lake and Srinagar City from the top. Capture it with your eyes and store it for life time.

• 11 May, 2024

Day 7: Day of Return

Return to you hometown.

After breakfast, we will drive down to Srinagar airport for your return flight. At airport bid goodbye to your friends and take home wonderful memories of Paradise on Earth - Kashmir.

Special Health Guidelines for travel to Kashmir for 50+ Aged

• If you have any Chronic disease Heart Ailment/ Cardiac Surgery/ Bronchitis/ High BP/ Hip or Knee Ailments, you must get doctor's advice on your ability to travel to Kashmir.
• In Kashmir, cars are not allowed in the interior of valleys to protect the nature from pollution. Most of the valleys and view points need 15 - 30 mins walk from parking. At some places horse riding or an ATV ride may be available option and you can hire it at your own cost
• April-October - the Summer and Autumn are the magnificent season and known for pleasant weather and clear blue sky to visit Kashmir. Average temperature ranges between 15-24 degree C.

Do i need a covid-19 vaccine to join an intrepid trip as a senior.

Trips from 1 January 2023 onwards

From 1 January 2023, Intrepid will no longer require travelers to provide proof of vaccination against COVID-19 (excluding all Polar trips and select adventure cruises). However, we continue to strongly recommend that all Intrepid travelers and leaders get vaccinated to protect themselves and others.

Specific proof of testing or vaccination may still be required by your destination or airline. Please ensure you check travel and entry requirements carefully.

Who are Intrepid travelers?

Intrepid adventures are for travelers with a yearning to get off the beaten track. Whether you're traveling solo, with a group of friends, or are aged 18 or 70, there is an Intrepid adventure to suit your interests and comfort level. Each Intrepid adventure has a physical and cultural grading to help you decide if the trip is right for you. No special skills are required for most adventures, just a sense of adventure and a curiosity about the world. Even on our camping adventures no previous experience is required; our tents are easy to set up, even for first-time campers. 

Are there age restrictions on your trips?

For the majority of our trips the minimum age is 15. An adult must accompany all children under the age of 18. Our Overland Adventures have a minimum age of 18. Younger children can join us on our Family trips and Short Break Adventures, but check each trip for its minimum age, which is located on the trip’s overview page on the website. Most of our trips don’t have a maximum age limit, but a Self-Assessment Form is required for all passengers 70 years and over. 

How many people will be on my trip?

Good things come in small packages, which is why we keep our group sizes down. This means we’re small enough to remain flexible as we thread our way through communities without intimidating the locals. On most of our trips you’ll be part of an intimate group of 12-16 people, though our group sizes are on average 10 people. Our Overland trips are in purpose-built vehicles that can carry up to 24 travelers. Group sizes are displayed on each trip’s overview page on our website. 

I’m traveling alone – is that OK?

This is the beauty of the Intrepid style of travel: many of our travelers join because they are traveling solo and want to meet and share experiences with like-minded people.

I have a disability – can I join an Intrepid trip?

Intrepid is committed to making travel widely accessible, regardless of ability or disability. We ask that you carefully consider whether you are physically and mentally able to complete the itinerary you have chosen, recognizing that on many trips you will be required to carry your own bags and use public transport. 

Where we can we will make reasonable adjustments to the operation of our trips to facilitate the requirements of disabled travelers – such as booking ground floor accommodation, or having our leaders communicate important directions in writing as well as verbally. Many travelers with disabilities have been able to enjoy our trips by traveling with a friend or companion who can assist with specific needs. If joining a group trip is not practical we may be able to provide you with a private departure. Please contact our sales team for further information on any of our itineraries.

Do I need to buy travel insurance?

Travel insurance is compulsory on all our trips if you’re traveling internationally. Minimum coverage may differ from trip to trip, so make sure you check the Travel Insurance section in your Essential Trip Information. You will not be permitted to join the group until your leader has sighted your insurance policy number and the insurance company's 24-hour emergency contact number – it’s really important there are no barriers to getting emergency assistance for you. 

Will I have my own room?

It's your call. Rooming on our trips is organized on a twin-share basis, but most of our trips also have the option to pay an extra fee for your own room. Just let us know at the time of booking and we'll arrange it for you. 

For twin-share rooms, we pair up solo travelers with another traveler of the same gender as per the gender marker on each of their passports. As a responsible tour operator, we strive to create a safe and inclusive environment for everyone. In the case that your gender identity differs from what's indicated on your passport, please contact us so that we can discuss rooming options with you. 

On a small selection of itineraries some accommodations are booked on an open-gender, multi-share basis. In those instances it will clearly be stated in your Essential Trip Information. 

How does group time work?

Whether you’re traveling alone or with a partner, our trips have a set itinerary. But within that there’s time set aside for your own exploration (if you want to – no pressure). Depending on how you're feeling, you may want to have some downtime, ask your guide for a few tips then head out alone, or hang out with the group and see where the day takes you. 

What makes a small group tour better than a coach tour?

The main difference between a small group tour and a coach tour is the size of the group; our tours have 10 travelers each (on average) while coaches can hold up to 60 people. This means that you'll never have to vie for your leader's attention on a small group tour because you'll automatically have it.

This is the second largest lake in the city and is a must-visit. One will feel truly closer to mother nature and enjoy the surroundings. People can enjoy a plethora of activities here. From archery to gymnastics, water rides and many more, there is a lot to indulge in. It is also the place where various cultural festivals, events take place. Things like balloon safari, zoo, toy trains, and amusement parks are also situated in the premises of this area. If one wishes to go to a picnic, Kankaria Lake makes for a great location. This place is especially a hit among the morning joggers. In the evening there is a light and sound show that brightens up the whole place with various kinds of lights. This is a great show that must be witnessed.

2. Jhulta Minar

This is one of the most intriguing places of Ahmedabad. The place has caught a lot of eyes of common people, architects, and historians from all around the globe. It is known that if one minaret is shaken the other one shakes on its own within a few seconds. The vibrations can be felt in both the minarets. This architectural wonder remains an unsolved mystery. Because of this phenomenon, the place has got its name” Jhulta Minaret” which translates to Swinging Minaret. This architecture is 500 years old and is a part of Sidi Bashir Mosque. The curiosity to know the physics behind these minarets is not new. It is believed that one Englishman almost took down these two minarets to get to the root of the mystery.

3. Swaminarayan Temple

The best time to visit this place is during the time of Diwali as the who place lights up and many people come to pay their respects here.lThe temple has also preserved and kept the personal artifacts of Swami Narayan. Be a part of their morning Aarti which is illuminating and completely peaceful. The temple complex also consists of a multi-story guesthouse and a medical clinic.

4. Sabarmati Ashram

Sabarmati Ashram need no introduction. It is the most popular place in the city and is visited by thousands of people every month. The Sabarmati Ashram was home to Mahatma Gandhi and his wife Kasturba. It is here where Gandhiji started his Dandi March. The ashram is located near the Sabarmati River and is completely peaceful. The ashram houses a museum where one can see several personal artifacts of Gandhi like his letters, books, photos, famous charkha and more.
