Hiking in the Dolomites
Great value for money. Good tour guide. Excellent travel company. Some days the hiking was a bit light. Would have given it 5 stars if the hiking was every day. Also tourradar/intrepid could also consider providing a higher cost tour where we stay at different refuges every day. This will reduce the transportation constraints and time and increase the Dolomites amazing experience.
- Mountain Hikes
The tour was very nice with amazing views and Andy was a great guide. It would have been nice if the hotel we stayed at offered something warm for breakfast as well instead of just plain sandwitches, cereal and sweets.
- 10% deposit on some dates Some departure dates offer you the chance to book this tour with a lower deposit.

4 Days DOLOMITES TOUR - from Milan
Amazing The tour was perfect for me. I am 73 and can’t walk a lot but we went on every road, every pass, every valley. Our fabulous guide, who loves this tour, made sure we could see all of its splendor. There were only 7 of us so the size was perfect and the van was comfortable too. My only suggestion is to upgrade the hotels, if you can.. One was too basic for me and the other had no air conditioning and the staff was unorganized. All in all, it was very good. I hope to use this company again

Walks in the Italian Dolomites
The hotel was great, friendly service, yummy food and lots of it. The walks were great, the app worked well. Unfortunately, being a bit early in the season meant some of the walks were not available, we didn’t find out until trying to get to the start. The hotel thought they were open also. A couple of other walks would then give other options. Overall I really enjoyed it all.
Amazing Dolomites Alps – ITALY
Dolomites Guided Walk
It was a great trip. people were very friendly. Guide paid lot of attention to the safety of the walk. One of the Refugio did not have hot water (should look into it). The other Refugio had too many people in one dormitory. Never the less an excellent trip..

From the locals, learn why Swiss cheeses, like gruyère, raclette and emmanthaler, are enriched when cows graze on summer's high grasslands, hear the resonating tones of an alphorn, once used by lone herdsmen to gather and calm their charges. In the village of Monstein, visit the highest brewery in Europe where beers are crafted with water sourced from mountain streams; enjoy a demonstration and tasting at the brewery, and a guided visit to the village. Return to your hotel in Davos to spend the rest of the day and evening as you please.
Travel from Davos to the Alpine town of Einsiedeln, known both for its Benedictine abbey dating to the 10th century (featuring some of the finest 18th-century Baroque buildings in Switzerland) and its state-of-the-art ski jumping complex, Schanzen Einsiedeln, whose first facilities were built in 2001. You'll learn the history of ski jumping and much more on a tour of the Einsideln jump complex – now Switzerland's national ski jumping venue, comprising four ultra-modern hills – which includes a chairlift ride and breathtaking views of Einsiedeln and environs. Later, meet "William Tell" himself, who recounts a story or two, and enjoy lunch at a local restaurant in Brunnen. Continue on to Lucerne for a two-night stay; upon arrival this afternoon, join us for a guided walking tour of this historic Swiss city on Lake Lucerne, and have dinner at your leisure at the hotel tonight.
While a thoroughly modern, culturally rich city, lakeside Lucerne retains much of its old-world charm and a strong sense of its history, with its medieval covered wooden bridges and the many Renaissance and Baroque fountains that dot its landscape – along with many wonderful galleries, shops and cafés. After breakfast in Lucerne, drive to the vicinity of Mt. Titlis in the Uri Alps, site of the world's first rotating cable car in the 1960s. Today, your Mt. Titlis experience includes passage on the cable car system from Engelberg to Mt. Titlis, the Ice Flyer chairlift, and activities on the summit – including Glacier Park, the illuminated Glacier Cave, and the incredible Titlis Cliff Walk, Europe's highest suspension bridge, which opened in 2012. After lunch at Mt. Titlis, return to Lucerne for time on your own and this evening's farewell reception at your hotel, followed by a private farewell dinner cruise on Lake Lucerne – the perfect ending to your memorable Alpine adventure.
Tour ends in Lucerne. A transfer is included from Bürgenstock Resort in Lucerne to Zurich Airport (approximately 41 miles). Allow a minimum of three hours for flight check-in.

Tour begins: 6:00 PM, Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten Kempinski. A transfer is included from Munich International Airport to the city-center Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten Kempinski. Please join us for a welcome reception followed by dinner this evening.
A guided introductory tour of Munich reveals some of the must-see sights in the heart of the Bavarian capital this morning, including the celebrated Maximilianstrasse, the 17th-century Residenz, and the old town hall. Enjoy some time to explore more of this city as you please, before settling into your hotel for a two-night stay. Tonight, dinner is at your leisure at the hotel.
Wake up for an exclusive guided yoga experience or the opportunity to relax as you wish, before heading off to the Bavarian town of Oberammergau, famously known as the decennial host of the Passionsspiele . Occurring as each new decade begins, some 2,000 local residents of Oberammergau join forces to perform the Passionsspiele (Passion Play), a dramatic re-creation of Jesus Christ's last days on Earth. Your visit to Oberammergau is highlighted by a guided visit of the Passion Play Theater followed by lunch. The rest of the day is yours to spend as you please.
Late this morning, you're off to the city of Innsbruck. Green domes and red roofs welcome you to this Alpine city along the Inn River – twice the host city for the Winter Olympics; it's also home to one of the most beautiful medieval city centers in Austria (Gothic Old Town), and impressive imperial architecture that dates back to its days as the capital of late 15th-century Habsburg Emperor Maximilian I. After a walking tour with a local guide, you'll visit Schloss Tratzberg, on the slopes of the Karwendel Alps, where an entertaining private tour introduces the castle's five centuries of history, and medieval merriment reigns during a private wine reception featuring wines produced from the castle's own vineyards. Your final destination today is Salzburg, the beautiful Baroque hometown of composer W. A. Mozart, where you'll begin a three-night stay in the heart of the city.
A guided walking tour this morning introduces Salzburg, a city of intensive cultural traditions that took off with the career of its most famous resident, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. You'll see his birthplace and other local attractions, followed by lunch on your own and free time to explore the sights as you wish. This afternoon, depart for the Kehlsteinhaus (Eagle's Nest), a 6,000-ft. mountaintop tea house built in the 1930s. A special mountain coach takes us high up the Kehlstein road; blasted out of solid rock in just 13 months, it is considered a feat of engineering. This evening brings fascinating travel into mountain depths on a memorable visit to the Berchtesgaden Salt Mines. You'll don protective overalls (and perhaps a sweater) for an optional slide* down into this centuries-old miners' world, including an illuminated lake and an interactive chamber where you'll learn about the long history of salt mining in the Alps. A private dinner with entertainment follows.
Spend the morning as you please in Salzburg, a city divided into two halves by the Salzach River. The older half (on the left bank) consists of narrow streets, many pedestrian-only, lined with historic architecture that dates as far back as the Middle Ages, splendid squares and elegant burghers' houses. This afternoon, travel to St. Gilgen in the Salzkammergut, a region of peaceful lakes and craggy peaks that you might well recognize from film locations used in the movie version of Rodgers and Hammerstein's The Sound of Music . Back in Salzburg, your evening is free.
Departing Salzburg, and weather and visibility permitting, find yourself on one of the most scenic roads in the world today as you travel through famed Grossglockner Pass. This is what you've come to the Alps to experience – a seemingly endless panorama of towering alpine peaks and mighty glaciers. Opened in 1935, Austria's Grossglockner-Hochalpenstrasse (High Alpine Road) paved the way to one of the most impressive and incomparable natural experiences on Earth. The road takes you up into the most spectacular Alpine scenery you could possibly imagine; from the highest point, you'll be able to see more than 30 mountains higher than 8,000 feet! Enjoy a lunch of East Tyrolean fare – along with a memorable schnapps tasting – at a 400-year-old family farm in Kuenz. Continue on to Cortina d'Ampezzo, a Dolomites resort town in northern Italy, famed in winter for skiing and in summer for mountain climbing, for a two-night stay; the town is both chic – and considered chic to be seen in.
From Cortina d'Ampezzo, head out with experienced mountain guides to spend a full day in the Dolomites, their sheer rock walls standing like silent stone sentinels against the sky. You'll have an opportunity this morning for in-depth exploration of this starkly beautiful region, which a century ago was the scene of harsh, bitter fighting between Italian and Austrian troops during World War I; the frontline passed through the area you'll visit today. Your choices include a hike with a mountain guide around the Refuggio; a rock climbing session with an experienced climber; or time spent relaxing and taking in the spectacular views at the Refuggio. Lunch includes a Q&A session with a noted Italian mountain climber; return to your hotel in Cortina d'Ampezzo for an afternoon and evening spent as you wish.
Drive through the Dolomites this morning and into the South Tyrol (also known as the Alto Adige) in the Italian Alps, to its capital, Bolzano – a small, well-preserved city of mountain landscapes, medieval architecture and a fusion of Italian and Austrian cultural influences. After time to check out the town and have lunch on your own, our Swiss Alps tour travels this afternoon across the Italo-Swiss border and by train through the Flüela Pass (conditions permitting) and on to Davos, Switzerland for a two-night stay. Tonight, join us for a quintessential Swiss dinner with fondue and wine at your hotel.
Like the Swiss farmers who bring their cows from the valleys up to Alpine pastures each summer, you'll find yourself in the mountains surrounding Davos this morning on the Clavadeler Alp for a cheese-making demonstration. This afternoon, depart for the Kehlsteinhaus (Eagle’s Nest), a 6,000-ft. mountaintop tea house built in the 1930s. This is what you’ve come to the Alps to experience – a seemingly endless panorama of towering alpine peaks and mighty glaciers. Opened in 1935, Austria's Grossglockner-Hochalpenstrasse (High Alpine Road) paved the way to one of the most impressive and incomparable natural experiences on Earth. The road takes you up into the most spectacular Alpine scenery you could possibly imagine; from the highest point, you’ll be able to see more than 30 mountains higher than 8,000 feet! Enjoy a lunch of East Tyrolean fare – along with a memorable schnapps tasting – at a 400-year-old family farm in Kuenz. Continue on to Cortina d’Ampezzo, a Dolomites resort town in northern Italy, famed in winter for skiing and in summer for mountain climbing, for a two-night stay; the town is both chic – and considered chic to be seen in.
Day 8 : A Day In The Dolomites
Meals included: breakfast, lunch,.
From Cortina d'Ampezzo, head out with experienced mountain guides to spend a full day in the Dolomites, their sheer rock walls standing like silent stone sentinels against the sky.
Day 10 : Alpine Cheese, Monstein Brews & More On Your Swiss Alps Tour
Location: davos.
Like the Swiss farmers who bring their cows from the valleys up to Alpine pastures each summer, you’ll find yourself in the mountains surrounding Davos this morning on the Clavadeler Alp for a cheese-making demonstration. From the locals, learn why Swiss cheeses, like gruyère, raclette and emmanthaler, are enriched when cows graze on summer’s high grasslands, hear the resonating tones of an alphorn, once used by lone herdsmen to gather and calm their charges. In the village of Monstein, visit the highest brewery in Europe where beers are crafted with water sourced from mountain streams; enjoy a demonstration and tasting at the brewery, and a guided visit to the village. Return to your hotel in Davos to spend the rest of the day and evening as you please.
Day 11 : Einsiedeln, Ski Jumping & William Tell
Location: lucerne, accommodation name: bürgenstock lake lucerne.
Travel from Davos to the Alpine town of Einsiedeln, known both for its Benedictine abbey dating to the 10th century (featuring some of the finest 18th century Baroque buildings in Switzerland) and its state-of-the-art ski jumping complex, Schanzen Einsiedeln, whose first facilities were built in 2001.
Day 12 : Up To Mt. Titlis & A Dinner Cruise On Lake Lucerne
My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed this riverboat cruise! Tauck is especially great at providing a unique and special experience for all their guests...from special dinners and entertainment to selecting the tours that are well thought out. We have traveled with Tauck in the past and have never been disappointed.
August 2018 Alps and Dolomites
A trip to a beautiful part of the world led by our excellent tour guide. Every city, town, village, and vista was a delight, the hotels were fabulous, and the local guides were knowledgeable and very interested in sharing their knowledge with us. Our bus driver was the best ever. Although heart-wrenching, the history and tour of Dachau, led by Michael, the best guide we have ever had on any tour, was a highlight of the trip. There was much we didn't know about the concentration camp, the events leading up to its creation, and the years after the war.
Overall a good tour
We enjoyed the tour good balance of castles and scenery would have liked a bit more free time and time to enjoy the Dolomites when peaks were not cloud covered tour director and driver were excellent Salt mines tour excellent King Lugwig castles also good the chocolate and cheese excursions in Davos also enjoyable
Love the former Communist countries
It was a great trip. Only detraction is that it was a bit cold for mid October. I can't say enough great things about the Tauck staff!! We had the best Tour Directors and our on board cruise Director. They could not have been more helpful and accommodating. We loved the MS Savor; our rooms were so comfortable. In Budapest at the House of Terror there is a room with a large cross in the floor with lights shining on it; moving image explaining the role of the Catholic Church. The on board staff of the ship were the most memorable; very personable and engaging and tried to know us individually and as Americans we appreciate this very much! WELL DONE!!
go see the alps and dolomites!
it was fantastic! the mountains are just spectacular, as are the alpine architecture and food. we had so many great experiences but the favorites were the "top of" moments. germany, austria, eagle's nest, the pass. our group was so friendly and our guide was fun and very knowledgable. the bus is uber-comfy. the hotels were fantastic!! must do! the top of germany! amazing!
WHO YOU TRAVEL WITH MATTERS
If you want to travel in style with first class accommodations, great food and spectacular venues, Tauck is the tour company to provide the great experience for you. In addition to seeing it all, meeting great people on your cruise is always a plus. We would not go any other way! Touring Prague was a wonderful experience. It is a beautiful city that is easily experienced by just walking around. Tauck’s guides impart so much valuable information you really get to learn a great deal about the city in a short time.
GREAT TRIP, THE ONLY THING THAT I WOULD CHANGE IS MAKE IT OPTIONAL TO CONNECT WITH YOUR 10 NIGHT SWITZERLAND CROWN JEWEL TRIP CORTINA D' AMPEZZO
Majestic Sights of the Alps
There were so many highlights to list...the trip took us through some of the most stunning views of the lush, green alps in Austria and Germany. So many picture perfect moments of waterfalls and snow caped mountains. Being on top of the 6,600 ft above sea level Zugspitze in Germany was a moment to be remembered. We stayed at luxury hotels. Being on top of the Zugspitze in Germany and Berchtesgaden (Eagles Nest).
Ultimate Alps and Dolomites May 2017
Our Ultimate Alps and Dolomites tour was filled with breathtaking views of the mountains and the quaint villages below. The hotels were centrally located in the cities and those in the smaller villages all had fantastic views in every direction. Our daily trips were always interesting and our tour director was outstanding. Most memorable was attending mass at St. Peters in Munich on Ascension Thursday. Other great memories include the Grossglocker Pass, Wolfgang Lake, the Salt Mines and listening to the cuckoo birds from our hotel room.
Major Disappointment
The MS Savor had a MAJOR outbreak of gastro-intestinal problems a few days into the cruise. Approx. 70% onboard were affected. The cruise director did everything he could to minimize the problem with the guests, instead of being "up front". It was a huge damper on the mood on ship. I would expect this of Carnival, not Tauck. Sitting in a nearly empty dining room, because so many guests and staff were stricken with the shipboard gastro-intestinal problem.

It's easy to see the world's sights. To stand in long lines, push through the crowds, and generally have the same standard-issue vacation as everyone else. But that's not good enough for us, and it's not good enough for you. We believe that travel should be easy. It should be fun. It should be worth your time and the price you paid. It should re-energize and transform. And above all else, it should be beyond the ordinary. Because how you see the world matters.
In 1882, Herman Tauck arrived in New York City from Germany in search of the American dream. His determination and values were passed on to his son, Arthur Tauck, who would realize that dream. With ingenuity and an innovative spirit, Arthur started Tauck Motor Tours, a travel company that would give birth to a new industry. The first tour, through the back roads of New England, was created by this 27-year-old in 1925. It embodied the same successful formula used by Tauck today: do the right thing. Craft a life-enriching travel experience; provide it at a single all-inclusive price; ensure there is great value for money; and rely on recommendations of satisfied customers to build a following and grow the business.
Two elements that did change over the next 90+ years – and three generations of Taucks – were the scope of destinations served and the variety of modes of travel used. Today Tauck delivers life-enriching travel experiences to every corner of the globe, incorporating small cruise ships, premium riverboats, trains, helicopters and more. What started as a New England motor coach tour company has truly evolved into an extraordinary global travel company. The fourth generation of Taucks is now involved in the company. While remarkable in any business, this seamless continuity across generations speaks to shared vision and values.
Throughout its history, the concept of “family” at Tauck has gone far beyond those sharing the surname to include hundreds of valued employees, and hundreds of thousands of loyal guests. The story of Tauck is the story of a unique American family company celebrating a passion for travel – a story that will continue to inspire generations to come.
