Pennsylvania hard rockers CKY announced 2024 tour dates, their first American tour in five years. Billed as New Reason To Dream , the concerts will be celebrating 25 years since the band's formation in 1998 and first album, Volume 1 , in early '99.

The new concerts are set in May at mid-sized venues across North America with opening acts Crobot and / or X-Cops. CKY also have a festival performance at Louder Than Life in September.

CKY is an American rock band from West Chester, Pennsylvania. Formed in 1998 by lead vocalist and guitarist Deron Miller, guitarist and backing vocalist Chad I Ginsburg, and drummer Jess Margera, the group currently features Ginsburg, Margera and bassist Matt Deis. Originally known by the full name Camp Kill Yourself, and later briefly credited as simply Camp, CKY found initial recognition through its musical contributions to the CKY video series and the TV series Jackass, both of which featured Margera's brother Bam. The band self-released its debut album Volume 1 in 1999, featuring a number of songs from the CKY videos. After signing with The Island Def Jam Music Group, CKY released Infiltrate•Destroy•Rebuild in 2002, which gave the band its first experience of US chart success when it entered the Billboard 200 at number 99. In 2005 the album An Answer Can Be Found followed, which saw the band's success increase with a US top 40 peak. After leaving Island/Def Jam, CKY signed with Roadrunner Records and released its fourth album Carver City in 2009, the first to feature full-time bassist Deis. Miller left the band in 2011, after which Ginsburg, Margera and Deis recorded their first album as a trio, The Phoenix, which was released in June 2017. CKY has been categorised as a band of multiple musical genres, including alternative metal, stoner metal, post-grunge and skate punk. The band's songwriting in the past was typically led by Miller, with production, engineering and mixing handled by Ginsburg. In recent years, internal tensions between band members halted progress on new material and touring, eventually leading to the departure of Miller and the band's subsequent lengthy hiatus. Since leaving in 2011, Miller has reformed Foreign Objects (a pre-CKY group which originally included Margera on drums) and started his own continuation of CKY entitled 96 Bitter Beings.

CKY have announced their Spring 2024 headline tour. The New Reason to Dream Tour kicks off on May 1 with a solo warm-up show in Knoxville, Tennessee, and runs through May 26 in Hampton Beach, New Hampshire. Crobot and X-Cops will appear on select dates. All dates are below.

The tour coincides with the 25th anniversary of the band. Yes, CKY have been around and kicking your ass since 1999, and you know you love it.

“Through all the bullshit over the last couple years, you have no idea how ready we are to get back on the road and fucking rock,” the band exclaims. “25 years of CKY and we are ready for 20 more. The band sounds fucking great and the tour is going to be fucking awesome. Let’s go!”

Additionally, CKY will appear at two major fall festivals — Louder Than Life in Louisville in September and then at Aftershock in Sacramento in October. More world touring is planned through 2024 and 2025, so keep your eyes open and your ears peeled for more from CKY!

CKY have announced details regarding their first major North American tour in 2 years. Sponsored by Adio Footwear , the Rock Adio Tour will kick off August 8 at Soma in San Digeo, and will also include FIREBALL MINISTRY and THE KNIVES . ABOUT CKY: Once upon a time, CKY burned it all down, with a raucous, anarchic, hard rock sound soaked in the skate-punk culture that birthed them and a hard-partying lifestyle onstage and off that decimated relationships and reputations in its wake. Chad I Ginsburg , the band’s guitarist and singer, steps into the frontman role with charisma, charm, and bravado, confidently delivering a diverse performance as he claims a position that was clearly rightfully his to own.  He’s joined in enduring partnership and musical and personal chemistry by fellow CKY co-founder, Jess Margera , the drummer whose extracurricular work in projects like The Company Band (with guys from Clutch and Fireball Ministry) expanded CKY’s horizons as much as Ginsburg’s solo work has as well. Guns N’ Roses, Metallica, and Deftones have all personally invited CKY on tour, cementing a legacy as a hard-charging live act. CKY built a worldwide fanbase of dedicated acolytes, friends, and supporters, lovingly dubbed the CKY Alliance, with a broader group of musicians, athletes, and other creative types in the CKY family, both literally and figuratively.  Carver City (2009) debuted at #4 on the Hard Music charts. It was the second CKY album to debut in the Top 50 on the Billboard 200: An Answer Can Be Found (2005) hit #35 upon its release. 2017’s  The Phoenix was  a spiritual successor to CKY’s breakthrough,  Infiltrate•Destroy•Rebuild  (2002), with a hint of the appropriately titled debut,  Volume 1  (1999). “We’re grown adults now with an eagle-eye perspective on who we are, what we do, and how to do it right,” Ginsburg declares, with matter-of-fact certainty. “None of us are out there in the clouds. We’re pretty well-grounded people that have an honest perspective on where we’re at.” The totality of the CKY experience is perhaps best summarized by a quote from enigmatic comic book legend, author, and self-proclaimed magician, Alan Moore. “My experience of life is that it is is not divided up into genres; it’s a horrifying, romantic, tragic, comical, science-fiction cowboy detective novel. You know, with a bit of pornography if you’re lucky.” Margera observes that it was “a perfect storm of events” that led to CKY becoming a pretty popular name. “When it’s happening, you’re not paying attention. But once you get a couple of years under your belt, you realize, ‘Holy shit, man. That was lucky as hell that happened to us!,’ ya know?” “We’re feeling rather lucky,” Ginsburg agrees. “We’re not taking things for granted. We’re saturated in gratitude. It’s an incredibly humbled CKY, with a fire to last another 20 years. The point is to go play rock ‘n’ roll and appreciate everybody else who does it, too. It’s a lucky job to have.”

Simply dubbed “Beat,” the band will present music from 1981’s Discipline , 1982’s Beat and 1984’s Three of a Perfect Pair . Their tour begins in San Jose, California, then makes stops in Los Angeles, San Diego, Toronto, Dallas, New York and Boston before wrapping in Las Vegas.

Belew and Levin were invited to join King Crimson in 1981 and remained in the lineup until Robert Fripp put the group on hiatus again in 1984. They were also part of the next iteration from 1994 to 2008. Levin continued thereafter until what appears to be King Crimson’s final tour in 2021. Fripp has given his blessing to this new project.

“I went back to Robert and said, ‘Here’s what I’ve got,'” Belew tells UCR . “We talked about a lot of things. He had a lot of questions but he said, ‘What are you thinking of calling it?’ The producers had made up a name which had my name in it – which I didn’t like that much because I didn’t feel it represented the whole band, but I told Robert anyway. They wanted to call it Crimson Belew. He said, ‘Hmmm, oh.’ I could tell he was balking. I said, ‘Well, I don’t really like it either. I’m not happy with that, but what would you call it?'”

Fripp considered things for a moment, then said, “‘You know, I’ve always used the term ‘Discipline’ for all of my business and everything for years now. For 13 years, you and Tony and Pat Mastelotto have had your band camp and you guys called that ‘Three of a Perfect Pair.’ Why don’t you call it ‘Beat,'” Belew remembered with a laugh. “I said, ‘Will that get your support?’ He said, ‘Yeah, you have my support and blessing.'”

Adrian Belew and Steve Vai Have a Frank Zappa Connection

Like Belew, Steve Vai is a former guitarist with Frank Zappa . He has toured and recorded with David Lee Roth , Whitesnake , Alice Cooper , Motorhead and, most recently, Joe Satriani . “Robert Fripp is one of our historical geniuses,” Vai said in an official statement. “His highly specific and exceptionally brilliant guitar technique is studied and revered. His contribution to the quality of my musical life, and so many others is supreme.”

Carey is Tool ‘s co-founding drummer, and has also worked with Carole King and the Melvins . He also appeared on Belew’s 2005 album Side One . “Revisiting some of my favorite music is a treat in itself,” Levin added, “but in company of this stellar lineup, I expect to have my musical butt kicked.”

There was an initial schism when Fripp decided to jumpstart King Crimson without Belew in 2013, but they mended fences a few years later.
