Watch out for bombs, conserve your hints, conserve om nom's superpowers, but don't forget about 'em.

The key to Cut the Rope: Time Travel—or any Cut the Rope game, for that matter—is to take stock of the entire stage before you go cutting ropes. Don't just start swiping and hope for the best, especially in stages where there are pains in the butt, like blades, bombs, rockets, and more.

Get in, look around, take a breath, then fire away.

That being said, don't stop trying

Cut the Rope: Time Travel lets you try as many times as you want, no life-limited wanted or needed. You might have to watch an ad in between tries, but you'll never have to wait more than 30 seconds to try again.

That means you shouldn't be afraid to try. And try. And try. You'll get better each time.

The freeze button is gonna be one of Om Nom's and your biggest friends during your time travels. So use it. When you first encounter the freeze button, the game forces you to use it so you learn how. Later, when it pops up again, you'll be under no such pressure. But that doesn't mean you should forget about it.

Any time you need to take a moment and really take stock of the whole stage, use the freeze button. It'll make it much, much easier to collect all three stars.

A new feature in Cut the Rope: Time Travel is the bomb. It explodes when it comes into contact with ANYTHING in the level. Take full stock of your surroundings because you're going to need to know where to cut and you're gonna need to know quickly!

Bombs also push any swinging object outward instead of inward, so keep that in mind when you've gotta time things out just right and direction is playing an important factor.

You may be tempted to use your hints right away. After all, levels can be frustrating. But you really want to wait as long as you can before burning a hint. Wait as long as you possibly can, because when you really need a hint, you'll really need a hint ready and waiting.

Don't blow through them. Don't run out. Use your hints not when you want them, but when you need them!

Since the button is so tiny, it's easy to forget that Om Nom has telekinesis. Yes: Mind bullets!

Like the freeze button, telekinesis makes the stage infinitely easier, setting up an invisible boundary around the entire stage, which stops candies from falling, lets you control them, and makes them impervious to any features of the stage that might destroy them.

Super powers make it waaaay easier to collect all the stars and make sure the candies get safely to Om Nom and his ancestor.

Introduction

Hoping to expand upon the successes of the first two games, Cut the Rope: Time Travel takes its protagonist little green monster Om Nom on a tour of the historical ages.

Retaining the same gameplay that made Cut the Rope and Cut the Rope: Experiments so addictively entertaining, can the latest instalment in the series keep players interested?

Cut the Rope: Time Travel retains the same simple yet challenging gameplay of its forerunners, asking you to deliver candy to Om Nom by cutting various ropes and overcoming puzzles. In this way, the latest game borrows many features from its previous installments, but introduces a second monster to feed, and therefore additional candy to manoeuvre.

The duo of monsters will mean that you need to carefully plan how to feed the pair, utilising many multitasking gestures, simultaneously cutting ropes and pushing buttons.

Taking place across six time periods, Cut the Rope: Time Travel offers levels from the Middle Ages to the Stone Age, stopping in Ancient Greece and Ancient Egypt along the way too to visit Om Nom’s ancestors.

Each time period adds increasingly complex new gameplay mechanics like bombs, portals, and the ability to freeze time and employ movement mimickers to make the levels progress and enhance the intricacy. These coupled with the old mechanics definitely make the game feel fresh and revitalised.

However, despite the new additions, anyone familiar with Cut the Rope will quickly become accustomed to the supposedly increased difficulty. The 90 new levels can be overcome very quickly, with three star scores fairly easily achievable. In fact, most of the new levels can be completed within a minute, with little more than a head scratch of frustration.

Graphics and Sound

With each new time period, Cut the Rope: Time Travel introduces a new Om Nom ancestor. The game look identical to the first two games so is as visually appealing and well animated as originally presented.

Despite the new characters though, all the Om Nom varieties behave in the same way to the original little green monster. They are adorable and look great, but bring no change to the gameplay, which is a little disappointing.

The background music doesn’t seem dissimilar to the original two games, only adding a culturally different tone the memorable original soundtrack for each level. The sound effects are endearing, especially as one monster will fall asleep after you’ve treated it to its favourite candy, sure to appeal to Om Nom fans of all ages.

Verdict Maintaining some of the best parts of the original two games, Cut the Rope: Time Travel’s new range of features makes it an enjoyable addition to the series. However, it won’t take adults long to complete due to its low level of complexity, but children will enjoy the colourful animations and gameplay features. Definitely worth playing, but don’t expect it to keep you amused for too long.

Along with the release of Wild West and The Future episodes, 40 snowflakes were scattered around the levels. After collecting 40 snowflakes with candy , the player was awarded by a special Santa hat for Om Nom . The hat could also be purchased for roughly $1.

Each of 8 time periods, from The Middle Ages to Wild West , has five snowflakes scattered around the levels.

Wild West and The Future were released on December 11, 2013 for iOS, and a month later, on January 16, 2014, they appeared on Android. However, early versions of iOS and Android release contained only 39 snowflakes: the one in level 1-14 was missing. Therefore, for some time players were unable to complete the objective and get the Santa hat.
