Tokyo's busiest airport
One of the capital's two major airports and the primary domestic base for Japan's two major airlines, Japan Airlines (JAL) and All Nippon Airways (ANA), Haneda Airport services the majority of domestic flights to and from the city as well as an increasing handful of international routes.
In 2010, Terminal 3 (international terminal) opened at Haneda, offering more routes worldwide, increased in-house dining and entertainment options, and added easier transport into the city.
- The first-class-themed compact hotel in Terminal 1
- Watching planes take off and land against the skyline from the fantastic viewing decks

How to Get There
Reach Haneda Airport by train, monorail, bus or taxi.
By train: Take the JR Yamanote Line to Shinagawa. From there, transfer to the Keikyu Airport Line bound for Haneda Airport. Journeys from Shinagawa can take up to 30 minutes.
By monorail: Departing from JR Hamamatsucho Station, also on the Yamanote Line, the Tokyo Monorail provides a scenic seaside journey to Haneda Airport. Airport Express services take as little as 13 minutes.
By bus: A number of limousine buses service Haneda Airport from major train stations and hotels in the greater Tokyo area.
By taxi: Various providers offer flat-rate taxi services to and from Haneda Airport. Late-night services and expressway surcharges cost extra.
When planning your journey, be aware that public transport in Tokyo doesn't run 24 hours. The first connections to the airport via the Tokyo Monorail and Keikyu Railways reach Terminal 3 around 5:15 and 5:30. Early morning bus services from the center of Tokyo and Yokohama start arriving around 4:30. For late-night arrivals, the last trains and buses into the city end just after midnight.
Haneda's history
Airlines at haneda.
All Nippon Airways (ANA), Japan Airlines (JAL) and many other domestic and international airlines operate flights to and from Haneda.
What to do when you're not flying
As the busiest airport in Japan (and one of the top five busiest in the world), Haneda has everything you'd expect from a modern domestic and international airport. Free Wi-Fi, airport lounges, and a variety of dining and shopping options are all at hand.
Unique to Haneda, Edo Alley is a shopping and dining area in Terminal 3 that recreates an Edo streetscape, giving a feel for Tokyo of yesteryear. To enhance the effect, Edo Alley is accessed by crossing a replica of Nihonbashi, the historic center point of all roads in Japan. If you're in Terminal 1, look for Haneda's own aviation shrine and pray for a safe flight.
For more modern Japan, visit Tokyo Pop Town, which stocks a wide array of anime, manga, and character merchandise. Or consider renting a "Robohon" for a robot guided tour.
Accommodation
For flights arriving or departing outside of public transport hours, or if you just want to rest up, accommodations are available in each terminal.
Terminal 3 (the international terminal) and Terminal 2 both offer standard hotel accommodations, while Terminal 1 has the first-class-themed compact hotel First Cabin on site for a comfortable sleeping experience.
Travelers can stay at one of the accommodation options in and around Otorii and Anamori-Inari stations on the Keikyu Airport Line, many of which offer free shuttle buses for guests.

Haneda Airport
Haneda Airport (Hc`, Haneda Kūkō, HND), formally known as Tokyo International Airport, is located less than 30 minutes south of central Tokyo , considerably closer to the city center than Narita Airport , Tokyo's other airport. Compared to Narita Airport, Haneda Airport handles significantly more domestic flights , but fewer international flights . It is by far Japan's busiest airport and also ranks among the world's busiest airports.
Today, Haneda has three terminal buildings. Terminal 3 handles most of the airport's international flights and offers a pleasant range of dining, shopping and entertainment options. Domestic flights use the airport's two other terminals: terminal 1 , which is mainly used by JAL , and terminal 2 , which is mainly used by ANA and also handles some international ANA flights.
Free shuttle buses operate frequently between all terminal buildings (outside of the security check). Transit passengers may also use the monorail or Keikyu Railway for free if they get a special transit pass at the information counter. In addition, ANA and JAL operate direct buses for checked-through passengers between the secure areas of their respective terminals.
Getting to Haneda Airport
- Frequent connections
Take the JR Yamanote or JR Keihin-Tohoku Line from Tokyo Station to Hamamatsucho Station (5 minutes, 170 yen) and transfer to the Tokyo Monorail to Haneda Airport (20 minutes, 520 yen).
Take the JR Yamanote, JR Keihin-Tohoku or JR Tokaido Line from Tokyo Station to Shinagawa Station (10 minutes, 180 yen) and transfer to the Keikyu Airport Line to Haneda Airport (20 minutes, 330 yen).
- 1-2 connections/hour
Limousine buses to Haneda Airport depart Tokyo Station every 30 to 60 minutes. Depending on the traffic situation, the one way journey usually takes between 40 and 55 minutes and costs 1000 yen.
Above fees and schedules are subject to change. Be sure to check current yen exchange rates .

Hotels around the airport
Terminal 3 is open 24 hours and could serve vigorous budget travelers as a place to spend their first or last night. For more comfort, each of the airport's terminals comes with a hotel inside:
- Royal Park Hotel Tokyo Haneda (Terminal 3, regular hotel)
- Haneda Excel Hotel Tokyu (Terminal 2, regular hotel)
- First Cabin Tokyo Haneda (Terminal 1, capsule hotel )
Two Villa Fontaine hotels are, furthermore, located in the Haneda Airport Garden complex, which is connected to terminal 3:
- Villa Fontaine Grand Haneda Airport
- Villa Fontaine Premier Haneda Airport
Accessible by free shuttle buses from the airport are a few hotels around the Tenkubashi, Otorii and Anamori-Inari stations of the Keikyu Airport Line. The shuttle buses typically operate from around 4am to around midnight:
- Metropolitan Tokyo Haneda
- Keikyu EX Inn Haneda Innovation City
- Keikyu EX Inn Haneda
- Hotel JAL City Haneda Tokyo
- Toyoko Inn Haneda Kuko Number 1
- Toyoko Inn Haneda Kuko Number 2
- Hotel MyStays Haneda
Late night and early morning flights
Some international flights arrive and depart in the early morning (between 4am and 6am) and the late evening (between 10pm and 2am). Travelers with flights arriving after 10pm or departing before 7am should note that public transportation to/from central Tokyo does not run 24 hours and are advised to use a hotel at the airport. Taxis remain available, but are a relatively expensive option with fares to central Tokyo costing between around 6,000 (Shinagawa area) and 11,000 (Ikebukuro area) yen in the late evening and early morning.
Late night transportation
The Tokyo Monorail and Keikyu Railway stop operation around midnight. Most of the last services still provide a connection to the JR Yamanote Line at Hamamatsucho Station and Shinagawa Station respectively, from where the Yamanote Line can take you to Tokyo 's main districts, including Shinjuku , Shibuya , Ikebukuro and Tokyo Station by around 1am. But note that many hotels do not allow late-hour check-ins.
Airport bus companies operate some late-night connections from Haneda Airport's terminal 3 to a few places in Tokyo until around 1am, but note that they are more expensive than buses departing before midnight (typically twice the regular fare).
Early morning transportation
The first connections to the airport by the Tokyo Monorail and Keikyu Railway arrive at terminal 3 a few minutes after 5am, while early morning buses from central Tokyo and Yokohama start arriving around 5:30am.
