Zipping along Miami's waterways on a Jet Ski (also known as a personal watercraft) may be just the ticket. After consulting both traveler opinion and expert input, U.S. News found the best Jet Ski rental companies and tour operators in both Miami and Miami Beach .

Before you book, there are a few things to keep in mind. Florida law requires a person to be at least 18 to rent a personal watercraft. Additionally, anyone born on or after Jan. 1, 1988, must complete a boating education course through the National Association of State Boating Law Administrators prior to driving a personal watercraft. BoatUS Foundation offers a free online course. Your tour company may also be able to give you a quick safety course and issue you a temporary certificate. Be sure to check with your operator when you book. Know that you must have both your boating education ID card and a government-issued photo ID card to rent a personal watercraft, and you need to keep those with you on your person when you're operating it.

Guided tours operate daily, though specific tours run at different times of day. Rides range from $150 to $240 per vehicle, and each vehicle can accommodate up to two riders. "Freedom Ride" half-hour rentals cost about $90 per vehicle and are only available Monday to Thursday. In addition, these rentals are on a first-come, first-served basis and cannot be reserved. Hourlong rides can be reserved in advance and will cost about $140 per machine. The company recommends renting in the morning to avoid the surge of afternoon crowds. (Note: While reviews are generally positive, a few tourists complain of poor customer service.) Trips depart from the Bentley Bay Marina in Miami Beach, about a mile northwest of South Pointe Park .

Alternatively, you can take a trip through Biscayne Bay and see the city's skyline by booking the company's 60-minute Island Adventure tour. During an outing with Hector's Jet Ski Tours, travelers can expect to see popular Miami attractions from the water including Fisher Island SandBar, the Venetian Islands, Key Biscayne, downtown and Millionaire's Row. There are multiple options for riding. Visitors hoping to learn more about Miami can schedule a narrated tour with the company.

Tour-takers routinely praise Hector, saying he is friendly and knowledgeable. They also appreciate that he's safety conscious and gives comprehensive instruction to beginners. Hourlong tours cost $150 per machine, and two-hour outings cost approximately $180. Each machine can accommodate up to two people (no more than 400 pounds total), and groups are limited to four watercrafts per tour. Trips run daily, but you will need to contact the company for available times. Longer trips and private outings are available for an additional fee, as are tandem outings that allow a company tour guide to do the driving for you. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Yes. Food and drinks are absolutely allowed on the boats, and we actually provide coolers for you! Just keep in mind that Florida’s law requires boat operators to remain under .08 blood alcohol level. If you need a designated driver we also have Captains for hire. There are also vendors near Crab island that provide food and beverages.

No. Even as a master captain of ten years I would feel unsafe attempting an ocean voyage on a small craft. The waters in the Gulf near Destin and the East Pass can get very rough and high seas make ocean attempts extremely dangerous.

Crab Island is a a sand bar that was actually once an island. It is a destination for many boaters where they have access to floating bars, restaurants, inflatable water parks, and other attractions.

Yes. We have all necessary Coast Guard approved life jackets and floatation devices that come includes with your boat rental. We have life jackets for both children and adults available for you.

No, tubing is not allowed with a standard boat rental. However, if you’d like to go tubing, you can ask about a licensed Captain taking you. We do allow that.

No. We have free parking right near your boat pick-up location. No traffic. No lines.

Boat renters must be 18 years old with valid I.D. and major credit card. This is required, and there are no exceptions to this rule.

Drivers born after Jan 1st, 1988 must obtain a boaters safety card. You may obtain one here , or you can obtain a license at our location. The test is relatively easy and you can take it until you pass! In order to operate a motorboat of ten (10) horsepower or greater, Florida law requires anyone who was born on or after Jan. 1, 1988 to successfully complete an approved boating safety course and obtain a Boating Safety Education Identification Card issued by the FWC.

Weather: Destiny Water Adventures does not operate in unsafe weather conditions, but a light rain shower is not a deterrent. The Captain will assess the weather and should it be determined the conditions are unsafe to run the tour, the tour may be postponed or it will be canceled. If a trip is canceled by Destiny Water Adventures for any reason, every effort will be made to reschedule the trip during your stay. If you are unable to reschedule, you will have the option of receiving a voucher for a future trip or receiving a full refund. Every effort will be made to run tours as advertised. Should Destiny have to amend or alter your tour due to extraneous circumstances, tickets remain non-refundable on tours taken. Cancellation: We understand that life happens so we have a no hassle 48 hour cancellation policy. However, cancellations made within 48 hours of your reservation, and no shows, are charged in full. We make every effort to stay in front of the weather. If we cancel your reservation due to weather, every effort will be made to get you rescheduled. If rescheduling is not an option then a full refund will be made.

We have 2 locations offering 2 hour waverunner dolphin tours departing from the Destin Harbor. Reservations are required. Space is limited, so please book early (in the event of bad weather at the time of your reservation, you will be given the option to reschedule or you may cancel at no charge.)

The cost of each two-hour dolphin tour is $150 per waverunner. Each jet ski can accommodate up to 2 people (with a max weight of 400 lbs).

Important Things to Know

• Renters must be at least 18.
• Anyone born after Jan 1, 1988 will need a Florida boater’s safety card (or NASBLA equivalent from another state). The test is available online here . Please complete the test before arriving.
• You will need to bring a valid driver’s license and a credit card.
• Please note that although there is a high success rate of finding dolphins, that dolphins are wild animals and sightings are not guaranteed.

However, if you prefer to keep at a slower pace, you’ll have no problem controlling the speed of your vessel and maintaining a comfortable rate.

Even if you don’t jump or fall in the water, you will definitely get wet when you go jet skiing. This is due to the intense spray of the water as you slice across the waves. We recommend wearing a swimsuit or other fast-drying clothing that is meant to get wet.

Our jet ski rentals do not have brakes. Instead, they have a throttle that functions much like the throttle on a motorcycle. When you want to go faster, you push the throttle forward to accelerate; if you want to stop or slow down, pull the throttle back to put the vessel into reverse.
