Maserati introduces three new trims, GT, Modena and Trofeo - available for Ghibli, Quattroporte and Levante
Maserati introduces exclusive new trims for Ghibli, Quattroporte and Levante as part of the range’s renewal for Model Year 22 (MY22).
The three new trims - GT, Modena and Trofeo - have been developed not only to fulfill all customers’ demands and expectations, but also to fully express the different yet complementary souls of innovation, performance and design of the Maserati range.
The Brand’s DNA is expressed through unique trims created by the synergy between Centro Stile Maserati and the Product Development Team, with in-depth research into dedicated materials, details and characterisations.
GT Trim. GT highlights Maserati’s character, charm and elegance and embodies the Brand’s more urban, minimal, and contemporary spirit, suitable for the dynamic and curious global citizens who are fashion-conscious but with their own sophisticated, original style.
The Ghibli GT and Levante GT are equipped with a 330 hp 4-cylinder mild hybrid powerplant.* The Quattroporte GT, on the other hand, is powered by a 350 hp V6 engine.
On the exterior, this trim enhances the models in the range with chrome inserts, while the wheel rims in 18” (for Ghibli and Levante) or 19’’ (for Quattroporte) are in alloy. The interior look is completed by leather comfort seats with a Dark Mirror Trim for Ghibli GT, a radica trim for Quattroporte GT, and Levante GT features a Black Piano Trim.
Modena Trim. Modena is for customers who are sports enthusiasts as a means to enjoying their time and the context to the full. For people looking for a balance of innate elegance, dynamism and fun-to-drive.
Ghibli Modena and Levante Modena are equipped with the 350 hp V6 gasoline engine.
Modena S trims with 430 hp are also available for Ghibli and Levante.
Quattroporte Modena features the 430 hp V6 powerplant. **
The trim enhances the cars’ athleticism through sport bumpers with Black Piano inserts and 20” alloy wheel rims. In the interior, every detail evokes the Brand’s typical driving pleasure, with sporty wraparound leather seats and Black Piano Trim interiors for Levante and Quattroporte or Dark Mirror Trim interiors for Ghibli. The Modena S trim features the Nerissimo Pack and red brake calipers.
Trofeo Trim. Trofeo represents the maximum performance of Maserati’s personality: the focus is firmly on performance, without sacrificing comfort. This trim is the top of the range in terms of package and, above all, performance. This is thanks to the powerful 580 hp V8 Twin Turbo engine. A carbon fibre trim, 21” alloy wheel rims and red brake calipers complete the exterior. The interior is luxurious, with sport seats in full-grain “Pieno Fiore” natural leather.
Ghibli, Quattroporte and Levante Trofeo move into an extreme dimension, even higher-performing and faster, but always unquestionably elegant and safe.
In terms of styling, the exterior three new trims (GT, Modena and Trofeo) have the new Maserati logo (introduced with the launch of the MC20) on the bonnet, new Trident logo on the C pillar and updated rear lettering. The badges of the specific trim (with the names GT, Modena or Trofeo) will also appear just above the three iconic side air ducts. The interior also features the new Maserati lettering on the central screen and the new “Trofeo” logo on the headrests.
The GT, Modena and Trofeo trims for Ghibli, Quattroporte and Levante are available to order for MY22 from 1 July 2021.
---- * In the USA and in markets where Ghibli Hybrid and Levante Hybrid are not on sale, the GT trim is equipped with the 350 hp V6 engine.
** In the American market, Ghibli Modena, Quattroporte Modena and Levante Modena are equipped with the 430 hp V6 engine, and Levante is also available in the Modena S trim with 550 hp V8.

2022 maserati levante modena s (22 inch option) with 22-inch wheel tires.
2022 Maserati Levante Modena S (22 Inch Option) with 22-inch wheel tires are an important component of the 2022 Maserati Levante Modena S (22 Inch Option) with 22-inch wheel vehicle, as they provide the necessary grip and traction needed for peak performance. When choosing tires for a 2022 Maserati Levante Modena S (22 Inch Option) with 22-inch wheel, it is important to consider the type of driving that the vehicle will be used for, as well as the specific needs and requirements of the driver. For example, if the 2022 Maserati Levante Modena S (22 Inch Option) with 22-inch wheel will be primarily used for city driving, tires with a softer tread compound and a more comfortable ride may be more suitable. On the other hand, if the 2022 Maserati Levante Modena S (22 Inch Option) with 22-inch wheel will be used for more performance-oriented driving, tires with a harder tread compound and a more aggressive tread pattern may be more appropriate. It is also important to consider the size and type of tire that is compatible with the 2022 Maserati Levante Modena S (22 Inch Option) with 22-inch wheel, as using the wrong size or type of tire can negatively impact the vehicle's performance and safety.
featured faqs
How long should tires last on a 2022 maserati levante modena s (22 inch option) with 22-inch wheel.
The longer a tire is in service, the more opportunities there are for it to be exposed to adverse environmental or service conditions. While most tires will be replaced sooner, Goodyear recommends that any tire in service 6 years or more be replaced even if it has not reached the legal treadwear limit. Driven: 2022 Maserati Ghibli Modena, An Exotic Daily Driver
As teenagers we all dreamed of blasting over back roads in a Lambo or screaming along the highway in a Ferrari, as if in some real-life version of the 80s arcade game, Out Run . But now we’re older with jobs and mortgages and teenagers and retirement accounts, the idea of dropping a suitcase of cash on a car seems like the worst kind of mid-life crisis. And would we even enjoy it? Imagine being filmed at every stop light. Worrying about where to park, where to get it washed—and then driving miles to a specialist mechanic for routine maintenance. While the sight and sound of a supercar still awakens our inner outlaw, the challenges of ingress and egress quickly lull him back to sleep.
For a fraction of the cost of ownership one can join a car club or fly to LA, Vegas or Miami once in a while and rent something fun for the track that would be significantly more pleasurable than driving a supercar on public roads. But before we give up the ghost completely, it might be worth talking about the Maserati Ghibli Modena—which is basically a cross between a mid-size European luxury sedan and an Italian supercar.
While not as famous as Ferrari, Maserati has a storied history that goes back to 1910. It was in the mid 1920s however, when Alfieri, Ernesto and Ettore Maserati introduced their first competitive racing car: the Tipo 26, which debuted at the Targa Florio competition in Sicily, sporting the famous trident. If you follow the evolution of the company, it’s not difficult to accept that Maserati have made some of the world’s most beautiful sports cars.
Almost a century later, the Maserati Ghibli is a daily driver equally at home taking the kids to baseball practice as it is slicing up corners on your favorite back road. What’s it like to drive and have sitting in your driveway? To answer this question, I spent a weekend with a Ghibli in the Modena trim—which is new for 2022 and sits above the standard Ghibli GT, and just below the Trofeo edition with the twin turbo V8.
When I first saw the Ghibli I had to admit, it is a very beautiful automobile. In ‘verde royale’ it feels understated, almost elegant. Taking it out for the first time however, I was a little nervous, as it felt like a lot of car. The ride was smooth, almost buttery—somewhat unexpected given the Ferrari-built 3.0 L Twin Turbo V6 makes 424 hp. Once I had cleared New York City traffic, I really got to enjoy the Ghibli’s handling which was tight and responsive as you’d expect from an Italian sports car. Something about the Ghibli, however, felt more graceful than its peers, which is a major plus if you plan on using this vehicle as a true daily driver. It’s one thing to feel every pebble and crack in the road as you turn into a corner, but maybe not as much fun when you’re en route to Pet Smart for dog food balancing a pumpkin latte on your knee. The Ghibli really came to life on the rural back roads of eastern Pennsylvania, with its long curves and undulating blacktop. To be completely honest, I appreciate why paddles are better but perhaps because of my age, I personally prefer a manual transmission with a clutch pedal. That said, the Ghibli was fiercely responsive when asked, and surprisingly agile given that it’s a four-door sedan with plenty of room for child seats.
When I stopped for coffee, people commented on the beautiful green with black accents. There’s no denying that this car turns heads, but perhaps more in the vein of admiration than envy.
If you’re wondering, I drank my coffee outside the car, as my particular vehicle was equipped with an interior Carbon Macrotwill trim ($1,500) and Zegna Pelletessuta upholstery ($8,000), so extra napkins weren’t going to be enough.
At this level of interior opulence, other vehicles in the class are quite literally left in the dust but it’s a matter of opinion as to whether such luxury is worth an extra ten grand. If you’re going to spend that much on extras, my advice is to prioritize the metallic paint which costs an extra $6,500 and the 21” Titano-Forged wheels in gloss black, a $3,600 option, giving the elegant body the appearance of extra muscle. In recent years I’ve noticed that wheel size in modern cars seems off. Many appear undersized in proportion to the body, which ruins the overall appearance of the vehicle. Not so with the Ghibli Modena.
If I owned this car I would definitely feel excited every time I had to go somewhere. People would be shocked at my sudden willingness to pick them up at airports. I might even spend a few minutes each day staring at it from the sitting room window. But is seductive styling, a $15,000+ luxury interior, and handling that leaves you feeling glued to the road enough to get you in one if such a vehicle is within your budget?
That depends on whether you have a second car you can use when necessary. As you may well know, over the years the brand has developed a reputation for unreliability. In the 2022 J.D. Power Initial Quality Study, it ranks third from last. And that’s unfortunate, because whatever the reason for Maserati’s less than stellar record, owning an unreliable car can add thousands each year in maintenance and repair to the initial sticker price. Unless you’re a thrill seeker, it’s also less fun to own, as you never know when it’s going to leave you at the side of the road.
The base model Maserati Ghibli starts at around $78,000, while a Ghibli Modena without options starts at $85,300. The version I tested has more bells and whistles than Santa’s sleigh and comes in at $116,100. Not cheap, but if you want something in this class, then it’s actually quite competitive. For me, two possible alternatives would be the Porsche Panamera, which starts around $90,000, and BMW’s M550i which starts around $80,000. The range of options for all three vehicles is dizzying—Porsche’s Panamera Turbo S tops out around $181,150. What about an Audi RS7 I hear you ask? Well, a 2023 model starts at $122,995. If you go with the M550i you’ll get more performance and superior technology, but the interior is nothing like this Ghibli.
If you have the budget and you really love the Maserati brand, there’s no doubt you’re getting a first class grand touring sedan that can also double as a getaway car. If you’re not planning on keeping the car (and pampering it) for the rest of your life—you might want to lease. Compared to the cost of ownership, leasing a Ghibli Modena for around $1,000 a month for 36 months seems like a bargain. You could always buy the car once the lease term is up, and after three years you’d have a good idea if the vehicle has any issues and is worth investing in long term. With the money you save you can put something reliable in your driveway from Honda or Toyota so if the Maserati is uncooperative you can still get to work. Love and passion often triumph over logic and reason. The fact that I’m still reminiscing about my week with the Ghibli Modena is living proof of that.

- Lows Second-class interior switches and knobs, gas-guzzling powertrains, expensive to start.
- Verdict While many of its luxury-branded rivals are somewhat boring, the Quattroporte is anything but.
What's New for 2022?
A simplified three-trim lineup for the Quattroporte has emerged for 2022, comprising the luxury-oriented GT, the sporty Modena, and the high-performance Trofeo. The base powertrain in the GT model is a 345-hp twin-turbo V-6, but the Modena continues to offer the familiar 424-hp version of that engine that was the entry-level offering last year. The Quattroporte also has had a drop in price for 2022, with the GT starting at just under $98,000. Adaptive cruise control is now standard.
Pricing and Which One to Buy
The price of the 2022 Maserati Quattroporte starts at $97,995 and goes up to $148,895 depending on the trim and options.
We'd spring for the more powerful Modena model, which wears a more aggressive exterior look, unique 20-inch wheels, extended leather upholstery, and sleek black trim. We'd suggest the Sportivo package, which adds 12-way power-adjustable front seats with memory for the driver, a faux-suede headliner, and sport pedals; we'd also sprint for the Comfort and Convenience package, which includes heated rear seats, soft-close doors, a power-operated trunk lid, and adjustable foot pedals. All-wheel drive is optional on the Modena model for those who need it, but it costs $4500 extra.
Engine, Transmission, and Performance
Two twin-turbo engines are available—a 3.0-liter V-6 and a 3.8-liter V-8—and both sing lovely operatic tunes when hustled. Neither one will have buyers wishing for more passing power. The GT is powered by a 345-hp version of the V-6, while going for the Modena boosts that engine's power to 424 horses. An eight-speed automatic and rear-wheel drive are standard; all-wheel drive is optional, but only on the Modena trim. The Trofeo model comes exclusively with a 580-hp twin-turbo 3.8-liter V-8 engine that we'd love to test-drive. We last tested a V-8 Quattroporte back in 2014 , and that test car blasted to 60 mph in 4.2 seconds. We expect the Trofeo model will be even quicker. The Quattroporte rewards enthusiast drivers with a firm suspension, agile handling, and well-weighted steering that's both direct and communicative. The Q4 all-wheel-drive system, however, should only be on your radar if significant annual snowfall also is. Its retrograde calibration makes for significant drag and binding, as well as a decidedly nonluxury experience in nonhazardous conditions.
Fuel Economy and Real-World MPG
Neither of the Quattroporte's available powertrains are particularly fuel efficient, but the rear-wheel-drive model with the twin-turbo V-6 is the most economical choice. Its EPA fuel-economy estimates are 17 mpg city, 24 mpg highway, and 19 mpg combined. Going with the all-wheel-drive setup reduces each of those numbers by 1 mpg, while the V-8–powered Trofeo model's estimates are 2 mpg lower across the board. We haven't had the chance to put a Quattroporte model through our 200-mile highway fuel-economy test, so we can't be sure that these EPA ratings will hold up in the real world. For more information about the Quattroporte's fuel economy, visit the EPA's website .
Interior, Comfort, and Cargo
Soft leather, Ermenegildo Zegna silk, real carbon fiber, genuine wood, and nicely finished metal accents look and feel fantastic, but in the 2022 Quattroporte's cabin, they're mingled with cheaper plastic bits and switchgear lifted straight out of the Chrysler parts catalog (Maserati is owned by Chrysler's parent company, Stellantis). This Italian sedan is priced against the German mainstay luxury brands' flagships, but the Quattroporte's interior is more snug than what you'd find in those full-sizers; it's closer to mid-size offerings such as the Audi A6 , BMW 5-series , and Mercedes-Benz E-class . The Executive Rear Seats package includes reclining chairs in the back, but that configuration seems like a move intended only for spec-sheet parity with the Germans. With average-size adults front and rear, there's insufficient room for reclining. But the package does include heating and ventilation for the rear seats as well as another set of climate controls and a fixed center console creating a DMZ for elbow contact. The trunk, too, could be roomier, considering that those who can afford the Quattroporte's starting price aren't likely to pack light.
Infotainment and Connectivity
The Quattroporte's infotainment system is based on Google's Android Automotive platform. The interface is projected to a 10.1-inch touchscreen and features a voice-activated virtual assistant. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity features are standard and buyers can upgrade the stereo to either a 10-speaker Harman/Kardon setup or a 15-speaker Bowers & Wilkins system.
Safety and Driver-Assistance Features
Maserati offers quite a few driver-assistance features on the Quattroporte and many of them are standard. For more information about the Quattroporte's crash-test results, visit the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration ( NHTSA ) and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety ( IIHS ) websites. Key safety features include:
- Standard automated emergency braking with pedestrian detection
- Standard lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assist
- Standard adaptive cruise control with semi-autonomous driving mode
Warranty and Maintenance Coverage
The Quattroporte's warranty coverage matches that of key rivals from Audi and BMW , but similar to Mercedes-Benz , Maserati doesn't cover any maintenance visits.
- Limited warranty covers four years or 50,000 miles
- Powertrain warranty covers four years or 50,000 miles
- No complimentary scheduled maintenance

If there was one city that we absolutely fell in love with during our time in Italy , it was undoubtedly Modena. A charming town full of grand piazzas, quaint streets and a culinary scene that will certainly leave you a few pounds heavier once you inevitably depart. Despite Modena being postcard-perfect, visitors were surprisingly few with those exploring being limited to tourists on a short Modena day trip, probably combined with other nearby destinations.
We ended up spending three days in the city, gorging ourselves on the delicacies of Emilia-Romagna , taking long aimless strolls through the town and exploring the nearby attractions. And while we wholeheartedly recommend travellers do the same and spend a few days falling in love with this gorgeous town, it’s also possible to see the best of this city even if you only have one day in Modena.
Table of Contents
Getting To & Around Modena
Modena is easily reachable from other nearby towns in Emilia Romagna. Most travellers exploring the region tend to base themselves in Bologna – another fantastic city that deserves a few days being explored. For a Bologna to Modena day trip, trains take approximately thirty minutes and cost around €4-6 one way.
Make sure to take the regional trains rather than the Intercity trains as they are three times cheaper and usually only take about five to ten minutes longer. To get to Modena from other towns, you can check the schedules here.
Modena train station is about a ten to fifteen-minute walk from the centre of town.
Once in the city, it’s very easy to get around the centre of Modena on foot and most attractions are quite accessible between each other. If you end up going to visit an acetaia or to Maranello for the Ferrari Museum, there is also a good bus system that is easily navigable should you need it.
Modena Day Trip Itinerary
Visit mercato albinelli – modena’s central market.
Modena is a foodie’s paradise and there’s absolutely no better way to start your day trip to Modena than by visiting Mercato Albinelli (Albinelli Market) – Modena’s central food market and a place where many locals do their grocery shopping.
At the market, you will find everything your stomach could possibly desire including fresh fruit and vegetables, hundreds of varieties of pasta, and deli meats and cheeses.
Spend some time exploring the market before choosing a few of your favourite stalls and buying some fresh bread, meat and cheese to enjoy for breakfast. For €6 we bought enough bread, meat and cheese for the two of us for breakfast as well as having some leftovers for snacking throughout the day.
The market is open every day except Sunday.
Get lost and explore Modena
The charm of Modena will become apparent as you spend your morning strolling through the gorgeous town. In Modena, all roads will inevitably lead to Piazza Grande – with the striking 12th-century cathedral capturing visitors with its impressive architecture.
You can enter the cathedral (the Duomo di Modena) for free and also climb the adjacent Ghirlandina Tower fora small if you want to build a bit of an appetite for lunch. For us, the real joy of this area was simply sitting on one of the benches in Piazza Grande and watching the world go by.
From Piazza Grande, take one of the numerous alleyways to Ducal Palace on the other side of Modena overlooking Piazza Roma.
This is one of the largest Baroque palaces in Italy and aside from its spectacular architecture, it has a lovely courtyard that is another popular hangout area for locals and tourists.
Apart from visiting these sites, take your time to walk down random alleyways or hop into a cafe for an espresso to truly start appreciating the beauty of this town.
Indulge in a gastronomic lunch
Modena could easily lay claim to being not only the culinary capital of Italy but also the world. It boasts what is considered by many to be one of the best restaurants in the world – Osteria Francescana – which requires bookings months in advance.
If you’re willing to plan in advance but can’t justify the hundreds of euros per person tasting menu of Osteria Francescana, then a fantastic option is to visit Hosteria Giusti.
Made famous by the Netflix series Master of None , Hosteria Giusti is set at the back of a local deli, has four tables and is only open for lunch five days per week, making it difficult to get a table but incredibly worth it.
Each dish served was incredible including gnocco fritto, tortellini en brodo and guinea fowl drizzled with local balsamic vinegar. Three courses and wine will set you back about €50-60 per person and you need to book a table about two to three months in advance.
If planning ahead isn’t your strong suit but you still want a delicious meal then I highly recommend visiting Ristorante da Danilo. They serve traditional home-cooked food and have incredibly friendly waiters that will explain every last menu item.
While bookings are advised here, they are very accommodating, particularly if you arrive early during the lunch period. The tortelloni in balsamico and lasagna verde are highly recommended!
If you still have room after lunch, make sure to stop Gioelia Cremeria for possibly the best gelato you will ever eat in your life.
Go on a Balsamic Vinegar Tour
If you happen to have a bottle of balsamic vinegar in your kitchen pantry, chances are it’ll be called ‘Balsamic Vinegar of Modena’.
Don’t be fooled though, the stuff you buy in the supermarket is a poor imitation of the traditional product that you can sample in Modena. In order to have that label only part of the production (e.g. the bottling) has to occur in Modena.
Traditional balsamic vinegar is aged for at least 12 years, can’t have any additives and must be approved by the Consortium of Balsamic Vinegar in Modena.
You can sample the traditional product all over Modena, including the central market, however, in order to get a true appreciation of the production process I highly recommend visiting a local a cetaia where the glorious liquid is produced.
While paid tours are available from Modena , you can actually visit many of the acetaia for free on your Modena day trip. We visited Acetaia Del San Donnino which has seen famous visitors such as Mark Zuckerburg and Pierce Brosnan whose photos are proudly displayed on the wall.
During our one-hour visit, we were given a full explanation of the production process, toured the storerooms and had five tastings (including one with ice cream!). There is no hard sell to buy their products but if you’re anything like most people, you will undoubtedly want to take a bottle or two home with you!
From Modena, take Bus 2A to San Donnino and get off at the last stop. It’s then about a ten-minute walk from the bus stop to the acetaia . Tickets can be purchased on the bus directly from the driver.
Enjoy a relaxing aperitivo
It’ll surely come as no surprise to you that the last item on our things to do when seeing Modena in a day involves more food! Aperitivo is a pre-dinner tradition in Italy whereby you visit your favourite local bar and enjoy a drink accompanied by some delicious snacks.
While bars will start offering aperitivo from around 5-6pm, you won’t see many locals until at least 7 pm.
One of our favourite places for aperitivo in Modena and fantastic value for money is Caffetteria Giusti. Located close to Ducal Palace, this traditional bar has ample outdoor seating and €6 will get you a spritz accompanied by an amazing selection of snacks such as olives, nuts, focaccia and crisps.
If you’re after something more hip and modern, then Stile Libero is a local pub popular with a younger crowd that has a fantastic range of craft beers and other drinks which are accompanied by a range of crisps.
Want to stay longer in Modena?
Whether it’s reading more about Modena or simply compiling a never-ending list of restaurants you want to eat at in Modena, there’s a chance that researching your Modena day trip will lead you to want to add more days to your Modena itinerary!
There are plenty more things to do in Modena that can easily fill up a couple of additional days including visiting the Enzo Ferrari Museum, taking a tour of one of the local Parmigiano Reggiano dairies or even taking a day trip to a nearby town such as Parma .
Where to Stay in Modena
Room & Breakfast Canalino 21 – A good budget option for solo travellers or couples in Modena. They offer a range of private rooms including cheaper ones with shared bathroom. Breakfast is included daily.
Il Fonticolo Room & Breakfast – A boutique bed & breakfast that is a great option for couples or if travelling with children. Rooms are spacious, well decorated and breakfast is included in the price.

Our time in Modena was quite possibly the highlight of our trip to Northern Italy . While it’s certainly possible to enjoy the best of the town on a day trip, we highly recommend spending a few nights here if only to be able to sample some more fantastic local restaurants!

Visiting modena this week. Wanted to ask about taxis – what would you recommend as value for money?
We are going to Modena in 18 days for a business function. We have some very good friends who live there also? We will be there 3 days, one of which the ladies will be on our own. Your recommendations sound wonderful and are something we will try. Will most likely take a taxi to the Balsamic facility. What should we expect to pay for the taxi there. Thank you.
I’m a Londoner who’s lived in Modena for years. I agree with every word you wrote. Well done. Just one extra bit if info though: the cathedral and Piazza Grande are UNESCO World Heritage sites.
Thanks Krys! 🙂
What advice would you give for someone intending to live there? What are the do’s and don’t? Thanks you
Hi Michael,
Thanks for the great article about Modena, it sounds like a magic day out. We are heading to Bologna for a short break in a couple of weeks and would like to visit Modena. I think the itinerary would be perfect for us.
Cheers, Colin.
Thanks a lot Colin! Hope you have a great trip!

Why travel to Moscow
Contrasts: 12th century monasteries and some of the tallest skyscrapers in Europe can be found side-by-side in this complex and captivating city. The diversity of this mega-city is astounding. Only a few steps away from the solemn red facade of the Kremlin and the sounds of righteous church bells, a buzzing night scene and alternative-fashion boutiques can be found.
Culture: In Moscow only the best goes. Be it a theatre, restaurant or gallery, the standards are certain to be world-class. The Bolshoi ballet company is reputed to be even better than the Mariinsky’s and “MMOMA” (Moscow’s museum of modern art) exhibits works of art as profound as any that could be found in the famed MOMA.
Convenience: Unlike the rest of Russia, it’s easy enough to get by with just English in Moscow and, driving excepted, it is surprisingly safe: the murder rate is lower than in some of America’s major cities.

Why visit Moscow
It would take more than two days to walk around the perimeter of the biggest city in Europe, Moscow. Many of its inhabitants barely know what’s beyond the few blocks around their flat and there are so many attractions that it’s almost impossible to know where to start. If there is such a thing as an antidote to boredom, Moscow City is it. The mind-boggling range and diversity of things to do, places to eat, parks, historical monuments and more means that a vacation in Moscow has a wealth of activities to offer for every type of traveler, from young families to retirees.
Reasons to Vacation in Moscow in 2022
The Bolshoi theatre is familiar to almost everyone as Russia’s grandest theatre, but what people don’t know is that there are many more bolshoi (big) sites in Moscow that are worth travelling all the way to Moscow to see. For more than 100 years, the world’s biggest bell has been hidden behind the Kremlin’s walls and inside Moscow’s main park (which is bigger than some countries!) there is the world’s largest outdoor ice-rink. Travelers that visit Moscow can stay at the Izmailovo, Europe’s biggest hotel, then eat at the largest and most historic McDonald’s in Europe and after that have fun at the largest European indoor theme park!
Ancient Past & Stunning Architecture:
As those who travel to Moscow will see, just because Moscow is a city of record-breaking, glitzy high-rises doesn’t mean that there is no history. On the famous Arbat street, time-worn, wooden storehouses and century-old churches are squashed up against grey, soviet blocks which are then towered over by 21st century office-blocks. Unlike its much younger sibling, St Petersburg, Moscow’s roots stretch way back to the 12th century. Within the walls of the Kremlin, the city’s oldest building the Cathedral of Assumption can be admired in all its 500+ years of age.
Culture & Convenience
For a foreigner who has never visited Russia, Moscow is the perfect stepping stone into this great land of mystery. From the country’s best classical ballet troupes to snow-white troikas trotting through the parks, all the highlights of Russian culture can be had in Moscow without any of the complications that would be expected in other, less developed regions of Russia.
Cheap as Caviar
In Moscow, everything is bargain when with the current foreign exchange rates being what they are. Even caviar doesn’t seem so dear when the exchange rate is at 60rub to the dollar, so go on indulge yourself! Take your 2022 vacation in Moscow and have the best of both worlds, with European luxury at very affordable prices.
Lena, our guide in Moscow was excellent. She was very knowledgable and could answer any question we had for her. We liked that she could pick up on our interests and take us places we might not have thought of to go. When we realized that one of the places we had chosen to see would probably not be that interesting to us, she was able to arrange entry to the Diamond Fund and the Armoury for us. Riding the Metro with Lena was a real adventure and a lot of fun. In Saint Petersburg we found Anna well versed in the history of the Tsars and in the Hermitage collection. Arkady in Veliky Novgorod was a very good guide and answered all of our questions with ease. Novgorod was perhaps a long way to go for a day trip, but we did enjoy it. Vasily was a great driver to have and kept us safe with good humour and skill. We enjoyed ourselves so much, my daughter says she is already planning to return. We would both have no hesistation to recommend ExpresstoRussia to anyone we know.
Just wanted to let you know that My grandson Bruno and I couldn´t have been more pleased with our week in Moscow (6/15 - 6/21). We were absolutely enchanted with the whole experience, including getting lost a couple of times in the Metro during our free time. Although both our guides (both Eleanas) were excellent, I would particularly commend the first one (she took us to the Tatiakov, the KGB tour, and to that beautiful cemetery where so many great Russian artists, authors, composers, musicians, militarists, and politicians are buried). Her knowledge is encyclopedic; and her understanding of today´s Russia as a product of its past was, for us, truly enlightening. I will be taking another tour in Russia, with my wife, within the next two or three years. I will be in touch with you when the time comes. Meanwhile, I will refer you to other potential visitors to Russia as I meet them.
We had a great time both in Moscow and St Petersburg. Your travel agency was excellent in coordinating the whole trip. Everything worked like clockwork. The guides assigned to us were very nice and friendly. They had a great knowledge of their subjects. The cars and the drivers were great. The hotels were good and the itinerary was good. All in all, it was a wonderful experience. It was nice dealing with you and your company. Thank you very much for a great Russian experience. Have a great future ahead
