How To Sell Tours Online With Viator: Creating Activity Products & Attraction Tickets For Travelers To Book

sale tour online

Tour guides of all types can take advantage of the Viator platform and accept online bookings from travelers—whether you’re an established company or operator, a private guide, an activity outfitter, or an individual local expert just launching a tour business. Create your Viator account and listing, provide necessary banking, tax, and payment information, and you’re ready to sell your product and earn additional revenue!

Why Sell Your Tours and Activities Online?

As a supplier of online travel tours and activities, Viator lets you create a product that is both immediately bookable right on our site and connected directly to your bank account.  Regardless of whether you see it as a side hustle or the start of broader business dreams (or alternatively you’re a tour company getting into the online booking game), it’s a no-brainer that you want to sell your tours online through Viator. You’ll gain exposure to the travelers that use our site every month.

The tips in this article will help you write an intriguing product title (the name of your tour/activity, essentially), a thorough description (what can travelers expect and what makes your experience so unique), and advice for taking high-quality photos.

No matter what type of experience you’re selling—a food tour, ghost walk, water excursion, or any sort of unique local activity—selling online directly through your Viator listing can increase bookings and revenue.

Pro Tip: Create an Intriguing Product Title

When selling your tours online to travelers, first impressions are everything. Think of your product title as the book cover of your experience. Though every component of your listing needs the same thorough attention that you put into your actual offering, the title might be the most important of all. A strong title not only helps potential customers find your product, but it also summarizes what’s unique about it. Here are some ways to make your title stand out.

Include keywords : Your title will attract more travelers if it includes the destination where the Experience takes place, what type of activity it is, and any attractions, sights, or landmarks that you visit along the way. Here are some examples:

Walking Tour of New York City’s Hidden Gems Tuscany Bike Tour from Florence with Lunch Portrait Photo Shoot in Paris Tokyo by Night: Japanese Small-Group Food-Tasting Tour Vegan Cooking Class on Austin Farm Surfing Lessons with a San Diego Local The Art of Crabbing in San Francisco Japanese Taiko Drum Lesson in Tokyo Private Walking Tour of Amsterdam with a Local

Be specific : Make your title as accurate as possible so that you’re not overpromising or underdelivering. This could disappoint customers and result in negative reviews.

Be brief : Many people find and book activities on mobile devices, so to make sure your title shows up correctly across all devices, keep it short. We’ve found that the ideal length is no more than 62 characters (including spaces). Being concise also helps highlight what’s unique about your offering.

Be unique : Ask yourself, What do I want travelers to remember about me or my product? How can I highlight what I bring to theeExperience? What’s unique about my product? What key factor will really catch the eye of potential customers? Do I have a specific focus that few other operators have? Here are some examples of characteristics that make for a unique product:

Involves a nontraditional mode of transportation (e.g. seeing the Hollywood sign on horseback). Focuses on a landmark, tradition, or neighborhood unknown to, or not experienced by, most tourists (e.g. coal mining town near Seattle or learning calligraphy in Tokyo). Visits a location travelers would not find on their own (e.g. Dearly Departed: The Tragic History Tour of Los Angeles).

Make sure you highlight this differentiating information in your title. Play around with various title options to determine how to best showcase your unique selling points. And while it’s fine to browse other listings for inspiration, do not copy a competitor’s title—that will hurt your product in the long run.

Pro Tip: Write a Clear Itinerary or Description

To be effective selling your tours online to travelers (or unique experience), you want to be very thorough. You’re minimizing the direct communication between you and the traveler, so the more information you provide in your listing, the better. Travelers want to know everything about your experience: what they will see or do, where they will go, and what makes it the best way to spend their time in your destination. Write a compelling description or itinerary that includes the specific places or landmarks that travelers will visit, and any activities they will partake in. Be sure to specify start and end locations.

A strong, accurate description or itinerary (or both, as the description can include the itinerary) also helps Viator market your product to your target audience by listing it on the most relevant pages, so that travelers who are more likely to book your type of experience will see it.

Pro Tip: Provide Interesting, High-Quality Photos

Industry data shows that having at least six to nine high-quality photos for each product significantly increases the chance of securing a booking. Photos reveal to potential customers what really makes your experience special, and should be an accurate representation of what they will get to see or do. The most successful product listings show happy travelers enjoying the activities included in the experience. Alternatively, beautiful pictures of sights, landmarks, or landscapes that are the focus of the experience are inspiring too.

Tripadvisor offers a helpful video on photo tips and tricks to enhance your product listing, plus your own website, social media channels, and other marketing collateral. Here is a quick capture (no pun intended) to get you started:

Use natural light for more vivid photos. Use candid shots to make customers feel a closer connection. Take time to think through and set up your shot. Consider the time of day that offers the best light. Plan ahead for any logistics that may present challenges for shooting. If your tour or activity takes place at night, think about how you’re going to make sure everything looks good in the dark. View test shots on a computer, as what looks okay in person might look odd in a photo. Take level shots, not at extreme angles. Avoid: Pictures of empty spaces where you’d expect people to be Shots of customers or staff looking directly at the camera Action shots of customers where they look frightened or overexcited Wide-angle or panorama shots Overly busy compositions

10 Best Ways to Sell Tours Online

Are you getting the best possible results out of your marketing methods? If you're in doubt, it's time to start the new year with fresh marketing strategies, aim for higher sales goals and boost your bookings and reservations.

TripAdmit

So, you've got your tours and activities up on display, an online reservation system in place and the online bookings are coming through. Should you stop here and be content with the current setup? Probably not. In constantly changing industries with shifting trends, businesses and companies need to alter and modify the way they market their products/services and adopt the current trends.

The same goes for tour and activity providers. The competition is tough, and with an impending travel boom looming, many tour/activity providers have ensured they are on top of increasing their sales.

Are you getting the best possible results out of your marketing methods? If you're in doubt, it's time to start the new year with fresh marketing strategies, aim for higher sales goals and boost your bookings and reservations.

To help you boost your tours/activities sales, we have compiled the ten best ways to enhance and improve your sales in your tour/travel company. Here are some handy methods to get your services in front of your target market, ensure a better sales performance and build your brand reputation.

1. Provide high-quality media content.

People make purchasing decisions with their eyes first, especially when it comes to travelling. Does your content appeal to consumers? Does the media uploaded attract potential tourists and travellers? To make sure this happens, images should be high definition and not pixelated or inconsistent. Higher quality media heavily influences trust in hesitant online customers.

Also, be sure to ask any previous customers for pictures they might have taken on their experience and remember to make reviews are accessible to the public ! For nearly 9 in 10 consumers, an online review is as important as a personal recommendation.

2. Include concise tour descriptions and bullet point highlights.

To increase and boost tour/activity sales, think like the customer. Make sure your tour descriptions are concise, clear and to the point . Employing a clever strategy of information layout will ensure that a user becomes engaged in your product offering. Although it's tempting to add a ton of information regarding the tour/activity, it's important to remember that customers are browsing through various tour/activities choices and are looking to finalize their decision ASAP. Adding in irrelevant and loads of information will be detrimental in making the best purchasing decision.

To avoid this, use bullet points as much as possible and highlight the most attractive features of the tour/activity.

3. Various pricing options — always a good idea

The more the variety of pricing options provided to customers, the more conversions on sales you will see through your reservation system. This tip allows you to cater to all potential customers with different budgets. And it works in favour of vendors, too — having a slightly lower price for less busy times of day will fill up your manifest and ensure that your business is working at peak capacity throughout any given day.

4. Digital marketing (paid advertising)

Digital marketing is directly linked to more exposure and more sales. Working with digital marketing teams and professionals will help you get the most out of your digital marketing strategy and implement a cost-effective method for advertising your tours/activities online. Here are just some of the digital marketing techniques you can employ to boost sales:

-Search Engine Optimisation [SEO]: Make sure to index the information on your website according to the most popular searches that people make on Google. The more relevant the information to people's searches, the more likely your website is to show up first on the search engine.

-Paid Advertising [Search Engine]: Pay per click ads is a quick way to increase sales than any SEO process, but it will cost more, so be sure to make your decision according to your budget. When setting up an Ad through Google, for example, you can specify which search terms the advert should be associated with. A good digital marketing professional will advise you on which terms to put against your ad.

-Paid Advertising [Social Media]: Social media is a powerful tool for marketing your product/services only if you know how to use it effectively. It is vital to develop a strong media presence and open up as many channels as possible for customers to engage with and learn more about your business. Social media platforms like Instagram, Facebook and Youtube are perfect for this purpose.

By staying active on these channels, you can communicate directly with potential customers and showcase your business more creatively. Remember to upload and update your social media channels with customer reviews , interesting content and photos sent from customers that capture fun experiences!

-Paid Advertising [Retargeting]: Have you ever noticed after you express interest in purchasing something, you suddenly receive an ad for it? Don't worry, you're not being spied on — this is just a very clever 'remarketing' technique. Once you hit a certain threshold of first impressions, retargeting can be used to increase the effectiveness of your advertising budget.

Remember to ensure your budget is used mostly on people who show interest in engaging with your services to boost sales.

6. Email marketing

Email marketing may be more effective than you think in boosting your sales. However, knowing who to send emails to and what to include is crucial. We recommend sending out exclusive offers in emails to help direct traffic back to your website. You can offer discounts on bookings and deals for a limited time period and encourage the recipient to take advantage of limited-time offers. This is especially helpful during slow months when you need to stimulate sales.

7. Break down barriers to booking

Ensuring your site is easy to use on various devices such as laptops, tablets, iPads, and smartphones are essential. For example, if the booking button for your tour or activity is not visible immediately on the front page or is hard to find, this can negatively affect the rate of conversion for sales.

Call to action buttons or CTA's are best placed on the home screen within the first-page fold [what can be seen when the webpage loads] or in webpage elements such as a sticky header that follows a user down the screen when they scroll. Clicking on a CTA should direct a customer to book there and then. Coupled with pricing options, this will be a winning combination.

8. Have a consistent social media posting schedule.

Having a strong online presence doesn't mean simply being present on Facebook, Instagram, YouTube or Twitter. Consistent posting and updating your various platforms with fresh content is what keeps it alive and attracts new potential customers.

A social calendar tool is perfect for this purpose. This tool will enable you to preload many posts — you can c onfigure content to be posted to your audience without needing to push the 'post' button. This can also be an effective method for identifying which posts deserve an additional marketing boost.

9. Identify your target demographic

Market targeting will help you direct the ideal tours and activities to the relevant audience. But first, you need to i dentify your target audience and segment it accordingly. Aim for the 'True Friends' customers and invest in offering them tours and activities they are likely to be interested in. Although this will take a bit of research, once you have all your information such as age range, gender, relationship status, earning level, country of origin, general interest etc., you can start to create specified services for your target audience. This saves time and money that would otherwise be wasted investing in an audience that is not interested.

We also recommend creating individual ad campaigns for separate audience segments, such as Valentine's Day offers for couples in areas that celebrate the holiday. Or you could create a special limited time offer on Father's Day.

And finally, our last method to increasing sales and boosting revenue is:

10. Try new methods until you hit a formula that works flawlessly.

Digital marketing is all about experimentation and making informed decisions based on the measurement of those experiments. After running a digital marketing campaign, it is imperative to do a retrospective at the end and see what worked and what didn't. Optimize as you go further into the process, and eventually, you will begin to identify the fool-proof formula that will increase online sales conversions. And once you implement the correct formula , be prepared to start seeing an increase in sales and revenue and referrals from previous customers.

Escorted India Tour

My 15 day Escorted Tour of India with UncleSam Holidays met and surpassed my expectations. Thank you Amit Tomar. From the moment I was met at the airport (after a 14 hour flight) and presented with a garland of flowers to the last moment being dropped off for my return journey, I was treated not only as a VIP but as a friend. The driver I had for the first 12 to 13 days (Om Prakash) was excellent and if anyone has ever driven in New Delhi you know what the traffic is like lol. The local guides at each destination were very knowledgeable and friendly shout out to Mitesh in Udaipur, Wasim in Varanasi, they all were amazing. It will be a tour I will always remember. If you have a chance to visit India you will not be disappointed if you use this company.

Pharaohs Nile Cruise Adventure - Return Flights Included

We did this tour starting 6th April 2024. Overall it was really well organised and we had a fantastic experience of the ancient Egyptian history which we were after. Mahmoud is an excellent local guide and we felt safe and well looked after throughout the cruise and excursions. He was especially very good with kids. The communication from the tour operator was clear, responses were prompt and the website and apps are well designed. The hotel in Cairo, the cruise cabin and facilities were a bit dated and in need of repairs and upgrades, but that reflects in the price. We knew this from other reviews so there were no unwelcome surprises. We managed to do all the optional excursions and they were all well worth it and highly recommended.

Dubai & Burj Khalifa with India's Golden triangle

An Unforgettable Journey with Tour Radar: Dubai & Burj Khalifa with India's Golden Triangle My wife and I recently embarked on an 11-day adventure with Tour Radar, exploring the captivating destinations of Dubai and India on their "Dubai & Burj Khalifa with India's Golden Triangle" tour. Overall, we rate our experience as amazing, as the tour package offered us remarkable moments and memorable experiences. One of the standout features of this tour was the opportunity to enjoy a private tour, which is quite unusual. Instead of being part of a large group of up to 20 people, we had the privilege of exploring these incredible destinations at our own pace. This personalized touch added an extra level of comfort and flexibility to our journey, allowing us to fully immerse ourselves in the culture and history of each location. The itinerary crafted by Tour Radar was excellent, ensuring that we got to experience the most iconic and must-see attractions in Dubai and India's Golden Triangle. However, we did encounter a minor glitch during the Dubai portion of the trip, where there was a little lack of organization and communication. Despite this hiccup, the overall experience was still enjoyable, thanks to the dedication and enthusiasm of our tour guide, Murad Khan. Murad, our guide for the Dubai leg of the tour, made our desert safari an unforgettable adventure. He was not only friendly and approachable but also incredibly knowledgeable, providing us with fascinating insights into the local culture and history. Under his guidance, we had a blast camel riding, dune buggy riding, and experiencing the exhilarating dune bashing. These activities added a thrilling element to our Dubai experience and left us with lifelong memories. As we moved on to the India portion of the tour, our journey became even more incredible. From the moment we landed in Delhi, we were greeted with warmth and hospitality. Amit Tomar, our India coordinator from Tour Radar, met us at the hotel and provided us with a detailed schedule and all the necessary information about our accommodations. This personal touch was immensely helpful, ensuring that we felt well-informed and supported throughout our stay in India. Throughout our Indian odyssey, we had the privilege of meeting remarkable tour guides who truly enhanced our exploration. Sunil Kaneriya in Delhi, Umrao Singh Rathore Amar in Jaipur, and Nadeem in Agra all showcased extensive knowledge and a passion for their respective cities. Their engaging narratives and insights brought each destination to life, and we were grateful for their expertise. However, it was our dedicated driver, Harpal Singh, who truly made our India stay exceptional. He was not only a skilled driver but also a friendly, kind, and considerate companion throughout our journey. His warm demeanor and helpful nature made us feel comfortable and well always taken care of. Harpal's presence added an extra layer of personalization to our trip, and we couldn't have asked for a better travel companion. In conclusion, our journey with Tour Radar on the "Dubai & Burj Khalifa with India's Golden Triangle" tour was a memorable experience. While there were minor issues in the Dubai portion, the overall tour package exceeded our expectations. We commend Tour Radar for its well-crafted itinerary and the opportunity to explore these incredible destinations at our own pace. Special thanks to Murad Khan, Amit Tomar, and our amazing tour guides and driver in India for their invaluable contributions. We highly recommend Tour Radar to fellow travelers seeking a well-organized and enriching journey.

INCA ADVENTURES - 7 Days (Lima and Cusco) with Domestic Flights

Just home from our 7 day tour of Peru. It was amazing. The tour went seamlessly. Every pick up and drop off was completely on time. Each tour guide was amazingly informed. All of the hotels we stayed at were comfortable and clean. I could not have asked for a better time.

PERU EXPRESS - 10 days (Lima- Cusco & Puno) with Domestic Flights Tour

PERU EXPRESS - 10 days (Lima- Cusco & Puno) with Domestic Flights

The 10 day tour was exhausting but fun! Leoned kept in constant daily touch with updates and information on Whatsapp, which was very helpful. The 10 days express tour packs in a lot of early morning (4am) travel to high altitudes including the hikes to Humantay Lake and Rainbow Mountain. I had a lot of altitude sickness but thankfully the guides on each tour were super helpful in making it easier for me and letting me take my own time. They also helped facilitate alternates to the hike such as taking a horse or bike when I was too sick to do the 1-1.5 hr hikes. The transportation was mostly comfortable, but some of it was a bit too cramped, especially for those 8-10hr round trips. I am average height but had to occasionally sit sideways for hours as the seats didn't have enough space. This wasn't always possible as sometimes all the seats were filled up in the tourist van. We also did have incidents where the taxi was late for a pick up or drop and I had to follow up with Leoned as we would have missed our bus or were waiting for our pick up for over 30mins. However, when you travel, such things are to be expected occasionally and so I still think it was worth it. Overall it was a great trip inspite of some inconveniences, I am glad I went with Waman adventures on this one!

9D Splendid Japan with Nagoya (private 3 star hotel rooms) Tour

9D Splendid Japan with Nagoya (private 3 star hotel rooms)

I would have rated the experience as Excellent, had I and others on the tour not been told to book our flights to leave from an airport that was much further and altogether harder to get to from the final hotel location. The closer airport would have cost less to fly out from, causing even more of an expense.

Absolutely Turkey Tour

Absolutely Turkey

Absolutely Turkey 4 stars Good 29th August 2022 First, this is the best way to see so much of Turkey. The drives are long but completely worth it and the hotels are of a good standard and well situated for the locations we explore. Eray was a kind and witty guide who had to contend with some difficult travellers in our group and he and Saif made a good combination. 4 instead of 5 starts is because of day 1 and the worst - the last day. On day 1, we were picked up at noon in bus 1, driven to a car park on the outskirts of Istanbul where we waited for an hour in the heat, then a French tour bus 2 took us another hour, before we took our bus 3. The last day was a complete mess. Our itinerary said Gallipoli, Eray's said Bursa. It was clear he had not seen what was expected and had no idea of what was on the Gallipoli peninsula. We only saw the Beach cemetery and the ANZAC cove - nothing of what was listed, no Aus, NZ or Turkish memorials - he had explanations fir nothing and he turned the bus around and didn't even drive around the peninsula. On the way back he had no idea of the route to make stops at, stopped once at a gas station, and dropped us off at 14.00, not the 20.00 as a whole day of tour said. So much history missed - I wish you had taught your guide better. Really disappointing start and end to what was a pretty amazing trip.

8 tips for selling packaged tours

Travel trends 2022

By Rezdy — 25 Jan 2016

marketing   Packaged Tourism Products

Updated March 2023 – The travel industry has experienced a significant shift in recent years, with an increasing number of travelers opting for packaged tours instead of planning their own trips. Not only are these tours convenient and affordable, but they also provide an opportunity for travelers to experience new destinations without the stress of planning. As a tour operator, it’s important to understand the importance of selling your outbound or inbound tour operations online effectively.

In this article, we’ll explore eight key tips for how to promote tour packages.

What are tour packages?

Tour packages have become increasingly popular among travelers as they offer a hassle-free way to experience new destinations. With a variety of elements rolled into one, including accommodation, transportation, activities, and more, these packages are an easy solution for those looking to explore a new place without the stress of planning. Additionally, purchasing a tour package can be more cost-efficient than buying each service individually. As a tour operator, knowing how to sell a travel package effectively is particularly crucial.

Now that you have an understanding of what tour packages are, let’s proceed to the 8 key tips on how to sell tour packages online.

8 tips on how to sell tour packages online

1. create appealing tour packages.

sale tour online

First things first. To successfully sell tours online, you need to start creating the perfect tour package that is  enticing for your target market. By understanding your target market, you’ll understand what they want and how to effectively market towards them.

For example, if you’re trying to target ‘ generation x ’, you’ll come to understand that you’re mostly targeting a group of people that prioritize family-friendly tours. On top of that, they also seek affordability and the ability to relax and unwind when on vacation above any other factors.

Understanding your audience will help you curate the perfect tour packages and allow you to understand how to sell tour packages online that cater to a specific target market.

2. Promote your tour packages effectively

Marketing plays a critical role in generating sales and promoting tour packages to customers. With so many different resellers in the market, it’s essential to have a robust marketing strategy that can help you stand out from the competition. While handing out flyers and brochures can be effective, the majority of customers now prefer to book online. Therefore, it’s crucial to have a strong online presence to attract and retain customers. To enhance your online marketing efforts and learn how to sell tour packages online effectively, consider the following:

  • Ensure you have a mobile-friendly website with 24/7 online booking
  • Advertise via social media and/or paid search
  • Create quality content on your website and social media to drive organic traffic
  • Request customer reviews through automated follow-up messaging
  • Make the most of your customer database by sending personalized email marketing
  • Maintain cohesive branding and storytelling across all channels for a rich customer experience.

3. Optimize your website

tips on how to sell tourism packages

Now that your future customers have discovered your business through your marketing, their next point of contact with your business is your website. Having an optimized website that’s both user-friendly and easy to navigate will add to a positive customer experience that will ease the booking process.

Key features of an optimized website include:

  • A mobile-friendly experience
  • Enhanced page speed
  • Search Engine Optimized (SEO)
  • Content that is both appealing and useful
  • Ease of navigation (i.e schemas, CTAs, efficient booking process)

To be able to accept online bookings is also essential for an optimized website. It allows your customers to book instantly and reduces your admin duties.

For instance, with an online booking system like Rezdy, you can optimize your website by providing your customers with real-time availability, automatic updates, a secure and easy payment process, and so much more. Plus, Rezdy makes it easy to create a website in one click, so you can start booking more tours and generating more revenue in no time.

4. Keep your pricing consistent

Create a price early, and remain consistent. The price for your package should be established at least a year in advance. When creating a price for the package, be sure to take into consideration all of your operating costs, including equipment, staff, marketing, meals, maintenance, and product development.

5. Offer flexible payment options

benefits of online bookings

When it comes to knowing how to sell a travel package effectively, offering flexible payment options is an absolute must.

As a tour operator, it’s important to remember that not every traveler has the same financial situation. Some travelers may prefer to pay in full upfront, while others may need the option to pay in installments to manage their budget. Offering flexible payment options ensures that you cater to a wide range of customers and make your packages more accessible to everyone.

Providing multiple payment options also helps build trust with your customers. It shows that you are willing to work with them to make their dream vacation a reality. By offering payment plans, you are sending a message that you understand and care about their needs, and are willing to accommodate them. This can help establish a loyal customer base and increase the likelihood of repeat business.

When promoting your tour packages, make sure to highlight the payment options available to your customers. This can be done through clear and concise messaging on your website and social media channels, as well as in your email marketing campaigns.

6. Partner up with resellers

Working with resellers is becoming an increasingly popular method to boost booking levels and generate multiple streams of income. By promoting your packages via resellers, you’re increasing your exposure and awareness to a wider audience.

There are many ways you can partner up with agents to resell your products. One method is to join a tour operator marketplace that connects you with thousands of agents ready to resell your products.

For instance, Rezdy Channel Manager connects you instantly with thousands of resellers across the world. With Rezdy Channel Manager, you can remain in control of your commission rates, showcase real-time availability to avoid double booking and expand your reach to thousands of your future customers.

7. Respond helpfully to inquiries

When it comes to selling packaged tours, responding helpfully to customer inquiries is one of the most crucial aspects of the sales process. When a potential customer contacts a tour operator with questions or concerns, they are often seeking reassurance and guidance in making a purchasing decision. By providing helpful and informative responses, a seller can establish trust with the customer and showcase their expertise in the field.

positive reviews

One of the primary benefits of responding helpfully to customer inquiries is that it can lead to increased customer satisfaction and loyalty. When customers feel that their questions are being answered and their concerns are being addressed, they are more likely to feel confident in their decision to book a tour. This can result in a more positive overall experience, which can in turn lead to repeat business and positive word-of-mouth recommendations.

In addition to building trust with customers, responding helpfully to inquiries can also help sellers to differentiate themselves from their competitors. In today’s competitive travel industry, customers have a wide variety of options to choose from when it comes to booking a tour. By demonstrating a high level of knowledge and expertise, a seller can set themselves apart from the competition and position themselves as a trusted authority in their field.

8. Time your promotions right

How and when you sell your products is key to maximizing your bookings. Promoting your product during the high season may be the easiest way to gain bookings, but there’s also a high competition rate. Being strategic about your timing will help you have steady booking rates all year round.

In addition, you can also create an alternative package that helps you increase your bookings during the slow tourism season for your region. Have patience, it can take 2 years or more to see an increase in your profits, but if you package your products correctly, your business will begin growing to the next level.

Of course, if you are going to offer an incredible package to your travelers, you need to make it easy for your customers to book. One way to do this is to implement an online booking system that increases your efficiency and showcases your live availability. Rezdy is an online booking system created just for tour and activity providers. It provides customizable tools that allow you to personalize the system for your specific needs. In addition, it connects you with agents that make it easy for you to distribute your products.

10 Strategies For Travel Businesses To Boost Tour Sales Performance

  • Sales & Bookings

Every travel company wants to maximize tour sales. Even more so now, where the travel industry has seen a great deal of change and quiet time: finding ways to boost sales performance is critical.

With a tactical approach, it’s possible to set your business up to reach more of your ideal clients. Now more than ever, paying careful attention to the finer details is going to be a priority.

Below, we’ve listed some of the best strategies to help your travel business stand out, get more leads, and drive revenue.

Strategies To Boost Tour Sales Performance

1. point out the unique benefits of your tour.

One of the essential strategies to increase tour sales is to highlight the benefits of the tour clearly. Instead of listing the tour features, paint a picture to show travelers what they can expect to see, feel, and get from the experience.

A good tactic to help achieve this is to include positive reviews and testimonials from existing clients. Happy clients are your biggest advocates. Usually, they are more than willing to write a positive testimonial for your tour.

2. Add A Little Extra Enticement

To really highlight the benefits of your trip, offer extra snippets of information that clients might not typically expect to see in a tour description.

For example, they may not be thinking about where the best places to eat in Tuscany are at this stage of the funnel. But, give them a compelling glimpse of what to expect (al-fresco, organic dining in a grape vineyard overlooking the rolling hills), and this can act to entice their curiosity.

The result--a tour inquiry that can lead to a booking!

3. Find Your Niche In The Industry

Tour Sales Strategy

To sell more tours, you need to understand your customers. The tourism industry is vast, so it's essential to really get into a niche. This will help you establish a more specific target audience and market your tour to the right people.

Carve out your corner and create a unique product for your business. Your goal should be to sell something that other tour operators aren't selling. Or to find a different angle to your competitors on the product that you sell.

So, find what makes your business unique, shout it to the rooftops, and explain the benefits to your clients. This will help you to really distance your business from competitors.

4. Ask For Client Referrals

Referrals help extend your network and reach, allowing your tours to become more visible to more potential customers. If you can get your clients to refer your tour to their circles, you will get access to a whole new market.

You can simply ask your existing biggest fans for referrals. Another tactic is to incentivize referrals through promotions. For example, you could run a tour giveaway that offers a bonus entry to each referral. This will soon help you to reach a larger audience.

5. Establish Strategic Relationships

Strategic Relationships

If you want to boost tour sales, try selling across several different channels. A great tactic is to establish strategic relationships with vendors, partners, and agents who can market and sell your trips to their clients.

You can establish these types of relationships with local DMOs, tourism boards, local business partners in your community, travel agents, OTAs , etc.

6. Use Technology For Bookings

Offering online bookings is a great way to boost tour sales without much effort. In fact, by not offering online bookings, you are potentially losing out on a great number of sales. People rely on technology more and more every day; self-service transacting and processing reservations online go part and parcel to this!

Importantly, give your clients a streamlined and straightforward online booking using a variety of payment options. WeTravel’s payment and booking management platform is great for this. It is designed especially for travel companies, multi-day, group, and international tour operators, giving them excellent payment processing abilities, beautiful booking pages, and streamlined booking management.

7. Make The Most Of Social Media

Every travel business needs to have a clear content marketing strategy, which includes your social channels. Social media is full of opportunities to promote your tours and increase your sales. Plus, it is where many of your potential clients hang out online.

Social Selling

Engage with people on social media, target the right audience, and post engaging content to reel them and get a conversation going. You never know; it may well lead to making a sale.

You should also encourage social proof. Try to get people posting about the experiences you offer, and make sure to share their posts. User-generated content on social media can help you gain exposure and get more people excited about your offering.

8. Use Online Marketplaces

There are plenty of websites and online marketplaces that sell tours. Loads of people check these to see what activities are on offer in the place they are visiting. So, it can be a good idea to list your products on these platforms. The trick is to find a balance with your direct bookings and not rely too heavily on OTAs that charge hefty commissions.

9. Encourage Customers to Leave Reviews

A significant factor that influences tour sales is trust. Your tour needs to excite customers, but they also need to trust your business before they go ahead with making a booking. Positive reviews and feedback are essential for this.

After your clients finish up your trips, encourage them to leave a review on your preferred platforms . The more positive mentions you have, the greater the number of new clients you can attract.

10. Upsell Other Tour Products

It’s a good idea to boost tour sales by upselling to existing customers . Instead of leaving a booking as it is, see whether there is an opportunity to add other beneficial upsells. This could include things like a room upgrade or add-on activity for your participants.

This strategy works well because you sell to people who already trust your business and want to support it.

Final Thoughts

You can have a great tour to offer, but you still need to sell it . The major challenge for many businesses in the industry is to stand out from their competitors. We hope the ideas above have given you some inspiration to try out.

The Top Online Travel Agencies for Selling Tours and Activities

Trifon Tsvetkov

Table of Content

Why should you partner with otas, the ota industry landscape, the top otas for selling tours and activities, how to manage multiple channels in one place.

Online Travel Agencies (OTAs) connect consumers with travel services such as hotels, flights, car rentals, tours and activities. Their power lies in aggregating offers from hundreds or thousands of suppliers, giving users the ability to compare many options on the same platform.

OTAs have become influential in markets such as hotel bookings, flights and more recently – the car rental and “things to do” markets. With consumers flocking to OTAs to manage their trips, suppliers can use these platforms to distribute their offers in addition to their own marketing efforts.

But choosing the right partners for your leisure business can be a difficult task. Different OTAs can provide you with a various set of advantages. You need to understand each platform’s strengths in order to derive the most value.

Should you go with the big names like Ctrip and Expedia or choose specialist sites for tours and activities like Viator? Or maybe use a combination of OTAs to sell your products?

In this post, we’ll highlight some of the top online travel agencies, which ones you should partner with and how to do it right.

Ready? Let’s go.

This is a long post. Get a PDF version by clicking on the image below so you can save it for review later.

New call-to-action

As people increasingly book tours, activities, and attractions online, it’s important to establish a strong internet presence. The same goes for mobile which is starting to account for a significant portion of total bookings, even though the industry is still primarily offline.

But establishing your brand online and on mobile takes significant investments of both time and money. This is where online travel agencies can help.

With bigger players attracting millions of people each month, the main advantage OTAs provide to activity suppliers is access to more potential customers. Right here, right now – on both web and mobile.

In addition, OTAs bring in a number of other benefits, including handling payments and customer service on your behalf. In essence, you can outsource much of your online marketing and sales efforts to OTAs.

With huge advertising budgets and great search engine authority, bigger OTAs are well positioned in the online world and provide access to consumers that are otherwise hard to reach.

But more than that, as we can see from the hotel industry, using OTAs is becoming a necessity for many providers. Often these are big companies that can create a great user experience for both consumers and suppliers. This is why travelers use them to manage their trips while suppliers manage sales and bookings.

Of course, using OTAs isn’t free. You will often pay commission fees that usually range between 20% and 30% depending on multiple factors such as the platform you partner with, your offer, and sales volumes.

This means that you should always prioritize sales and bookings going through direct channels – such as your website, phone or on-site – in order to avoid extra costs.

OTAs are extremely useful for last-minute bookings and filling up capacity that would otherwise be wasted. If adding more customers to your tour or activity does not increase costs, filling up available slots using OTAs is a great idea.

In addition, if you’re just starting out , your online strategy and positioning will take time to develop. In the meantime, OTAs can secure valuable bookings for you while you develop things like your search engine authority, social media presence, and advertising budget.

Before we look at the top online travel agencies individually, let’s examine the industry landscape. This way you’ll get a glimpse of each platform’s focus and compare them side-by-side. We’ll look at some of the main criteria you should consider when choosing an OTA to partner with such as web traffic, geographical focus, and commission fees.

Web traffic

The number of monthly visits is one of the prime metrics OTAs track to measure their performance. While simple visits don’t guarantee sales, there’s a positive correlation between the amount of traffic and the number of bookings received.

While it shouldn’t be the only thing you look at when choosing a platform to partner with, web traffic is a good indicator of the exposure you’ll get. Generally, the higher the traffic, the more people you will reach.

However, we need to note that some OTAs provide a number of additional services like flights and hotel bookings which may account for most of the traffic. In order to avoid making wrong assumptions, we can compare traffic between OTAs that have a similar profile.

For example, we can look at big OTAs that provide a range of travel services separately from specialist OTAs that focus solely on tours and activities. Moreover, niche players that don’t get as much traffic but provide other benefits should also be looked at separately in order to best understand their strengths and weaknesses.

It should be noted that the numbers below are estimates based on data from SimilarWeb.

Expedia vs Ctrip

Expedia and Ctrip are two of the most prominent OTAs that have been around for a long time and aggregate the full spectrum of travel services from hotel bookings to car rentals.

If we look at the website visits between May 2018 and July 2018, we can see that both platforms attract a similar amount of traffic. Expedia sees a steady month-on-month increase as the summer months arrive while Ctrip saw a slight decrease in June before getting ahead in July.

It’s hard to estimate what part of website visitors actually book a tour or activity but we can make an educated guess. Expedia reported that 2017 revenue from their Local Expert brand (“Things to do” section) was just over $500 million. With a total revenue in 2017 of around $10 billion , this represents roughly 5% of total sales.

Assuming a similar distribution in terms of traffic, this could amount to roughly 10 – 12 million visits related to tours and activities for these big OTAs (across the full 3 months). Therefore, monthly numbers are likely in the range of 3 million to 4 million visits.

Viator vs GetYourGuide vs Klook

When it comes to website traffic, Viator clearly leads the way with nearly 30 million visits in the last 3 months – just around 10 million per month. Not surprisingly, it’s parent company TripAdvisor is the top referring site and accounts for roughly 16% of Viator’s referrals (SimilarWeb data).

GetYourGuide and Klook received about the same number of visits as Viator – but combined together. Founded in 2009 and 2014 respectively, these relatively new OTAs have quickly become key players in the industry.

Musement vs VELTRA

Apart from well-established OTAs with millions of monthly views, there are also niche platforms that specialize in a particular geography or vertical like VELTRA and Musement.

VELTRA generates nearly 80% of its traffic in Japan and specializes in providing tours and activities to the local market.

On the other hand, Musement is focused on Europe but includes experiences in a wide range of verticals – from free activities to events, concerts and even tennis games.

Despite being relatively small, these OTAs differentiate themselves with other qualities and boast some impressive partnerships, meaning they can still generate lots of awareness for your brand.

Partners and affiliates

Apart from their main websites, OTAs often partner with hundreds or even thousands of agents and resellers. These can range from small local travel sites to large airlines, banks, and retailers. Affiliate partners distribute OTA products to their website visitors in exchange for a set commission fee for each referral.

This is why you will often see tour and activity offers when checking out of certain airlines. Basically, most platforms allow their partners to embed a code on their website which pulls relevant offers from the OTA’s inventory and shows them to travelers and other consumers.

In addition, big OTAs like Expedia own multiple brands and websites and share their inventory. If you use Orbitz , for example, you will see the same offers and booking engine as the ones on Expedia Local Expert.

Partnerships and affiliates allow OTAs to bring your offers to an even larger network of travelers and consumers. If you’re a new supplier, this can be of huge significance while you grow your online presence and brand awareness.

Geographical focus

When choosing an OTA to partner with, it’s important to know where their target audience is. This way you’ll know if they’re a good fit for your tour or activity.

For example, there’s not much point in marketing an escape room to travelers from China unless you’ve translated your instructions in Mandarin or at least English. If your services require advanced skills in a language, you should take an OTA’s geographical focus into account.

That said, we’ve looked at key markets for different OTAs and found the following:

ota top regions

Figures relate .com domains only.

Not surprisingly, one of the biggest markets for OTAs is North America. So if you’re partnering with a platform like Expedia or Viator, there’s a good chance your offers are reaching mostly US travelers.

On the other hand, GetYourGuide also receives most of its website visitors from North America, but the number is lower at just 25% which is balanced compared to Expedia’s 81%, for example. Taking their .de domain into account, Germany is likely the biggest market while Spain and the UK are also important for GetYourGuide.

Klook, VELTRA, and Ctrip largely depend on East Asian markets like Japan and China while Musement is the only OTA from our sample that receives most of its website visitors from Europe.

Destinations covered

In order to attract more customers, OTAs develop tour and activity portfolios from hundreds or thousands of destinations. The more breadth they provide, the bigger is the pool of travelers they can address. Each new country or city adds a number of new potential customers that can book tours and activities. In addition, a higher number of destinations increases the reach when it comes to local residents.

For these reasons, even niche OTAs like Musement develop a strong arsenal of destinations. Below you can see a graph with the number of destinations covered by some of the more popular platforms.

sale tour online

For this sample of OTAs, GetYourGuide leads the way in terms of coverage with more than 2,500 destinations. Viator isn’t far behind with 2000 while Musement and Expedia Local Expert cover about 1000 each.

For tour and activity suppliers, the number of destinations where an OTA has a presence is a good indicator of the marketplace landscape. If a large amount of tours and activities from your city are on the website, this means there is good demand for local experiences on that platform.

Inventory distribution

Skift conducted research on some of the bigger OTAs and found that most of their inventory is usually in Europe (which is still the biggest tourist destination by traveler count).

Percent-of-Inventory-in-a-Given-Geogrphy

The chart above can give you a good indication of which platform is best for your location. If you’re based in Europe, most OTAs will give you sufficient exposure. However, providers like Klook hold a relatively small part of their inventory in Europe and most of their customers look for experiences in Asia. That doesn’t mean you should completely ignore Klook – commissions are based on sales only so you don’t lose anything by having a presence on this platform.

Number of activities

Having a large inventory of activities is important for similar reasons as destinations. The more activities on offer, the more potential customers fall within the OTA’s reach.

ota destinations

While the number of activities seems likely to correlate with the number of destinations covered, Viator is a clear leader in this domain with 60,000+ activities – despite covering fewer destinations than GetYourGuide. This means Viator is well-placed in certain popular geographies and stocks a disproportionate amount of tours and activities compared to its main rivals.

Klook and Ctrip come in 2nd place with around 40,000 activities each. Despite its size, Expedia LX trails behind with 25,000 activities – the same as niche player Musement.

In general, we can see the number of activities is high across all platforms as it’s a key factor for attracting customers.

Commission rates

In order to handle online marketing, payments, and other services on your behalf, OTAs normally charge a commission for each booking you receive through their website.

The commission often depends on the type of service you provide with discounts for large sales volumes. Below you can see indicative commission rates for some of the top OTAs.

sale tour online

Specialized OTAs like Viator and GetYourGuide tend to charge around 25% while big platforms like Expedia can go as high as 40% given their extra services and exposure.

It seems smaller platforms like Musement can give you better prices which is logical in light of their online reach. The same goes for providers based in Asia where market dynamics allow for cheaper prices overall.

Now that we have a high-level view of the OTA industry landscape, it’s time to explore each platform on an individual basis. Below you will find our pick of the top online travel agencies for selling tours and activities ranked by estimated monthly traffic.

Expedia Local Expert

Expedia Local Expert is the “Things to do” section on the main Expedia site. Started in 2014, it’s a relatively new service for the travel giant but it’s gaining traction quickly.

  • Monthly visits: 66 million+
  • Key market: United States
  • Number of destinations: 1000+
  • Supported languages: 24+
  • Supported currencies: 41
  • Number of activities: 25,000+
  • Inventory focus: Europe
  • Commission rates: 20% – 40%

Main advantages 1. It’s relatively uncrowded Despite the size of Expedia, its Local Expert brand is a relatively new product and therefore the marketplace is not so crowded. This makes it a good time to join and build up your ratings and reviews before competitors do.

2. Strong brand Expedia is one of the most admired brands both internationally and in the US. This makes it an ideal partner that can bring your offers to a loyal customer base.

  • Supported languages: 8
  • Supported currencies: 52+

Main advantages 1. Great supplier support As a relatively small OTA, Musement has the capacity to provide a personal experience to its suppliers, pairing you with an account manager to assist you when using the platform.

2. Ease burden on customer service For bookings made through Musement, the OTA can handle both online and offline communication with customers, making it easier for you to keep up with customer service demands.

3. Strategic partnerships To tackle high customer acquisition costs, Musement is partnering with select companies like Vodafone Italy to derive synergies and increase bookings in a cost-efficient way. This gives Musement additional reach across Italy and Europe which makes it an even more reliable partner.

By now you probably have a good idea of which OTAs are right for your business. But what if you want to partner with multiple platforms?

Managing several channels in addition to your website and offline sales is hard work. You need to keep track of multiple systems, input numbers and update your bookings calendar manually. That’s a lot of time and effort devoted to things that can be automated.

To make things easier, we’ve developed the Regiondo Channel Manager. It’s a robust system that lets you control multiple sales channels in one place. With over 140 active sales channels, including Viator, and GetYourGuide, you can keep track of all your bookings in one place.

To get started, you’ll need to create a free Regiondo account and activate the channels you want to use from the Channel Manager.

As we can see from the flights and hotel booking industries, OTAs are here to stay. Customers often prefer to compare deals and buy what they need in one place from websites they know and trust. Instead of fighting these tourism trends, it’s best to utilize it to your advantage by choosing the right OTAs to partner with.

Individual platforms present different benefits and the ones you choose will depend on your goals, strengths, and weaknesses.

If you want to reach East Asian travelers but don’t have the capacity to do it yourself, you can choose providers like Ctrip, Klook and VELTRA to do the groundwork for you.

Or maybe you’d like a cut in the large US market but can’t afford to advertise there. This is when the likes of Expedia LX and Viator could help.

And if you want the best of both worlds (new and old), while giving your customers superb customer service, GetYourGuide and Musement are the way to go.

Lastly, you can also partner with multiple OTAs to get the maximum exposure. This is a great option if you’re just starting out and need to fill capacity quickly.

How to sell travel packages online easily and make profit

travel and tour packages

Travel may be a luxury for most, but that doesn’t stop the juggernaut that is the travel industry. If you want to know how to sell travel packages online easily, you are in the right place.

Let’s do a little number-crunching before the guide begins!

Total contribution by the travel and tourism sector to India’s GDP is expected to increase from US$ 136.3 billion in 2015 to US$ 275.2 billion in 2025. The sector is the third largest foreign exchange earner for India – in 2014, this figure stood at an impressive US$ 19.7 billion according to the India Brand Equity Foundation source (ibef.org).

There’s a huge market out there, but are you, as a travel service provider, making the most of it? Marketing to the right people at the right time isn’t easy, but here are five things you definitely should be doing.

6 Quick ways to sell a travel package in India

1. partner with travel aggregators.

Sell a travel experience, not just a single service. That means getting out there and bagging exclusive partnerships with other companies in the sector – car rentals, taxis, hotels and lodging, tour guides and more.

The potential to mix and match is enormous and you could customise packages to certain demographics. Who’s up for a senior citizen’s tour of the Golden Triangle?

2. Be social

If you’re a social person, great! If not, be one, and not just offline. Engage with your immediate community. Word of mouth is the single most effective marketing tool out there, and it’s free. Join groups related to your industry in your city and be active there.

Join online groups that your potential customers are in and answer their questions or post helpful tips. Remember not to spam people with your deals, that’s a sure way to shut shop soon.

Start right now with these Facebook groups:

#1 – Backpacking India

#2 – Best travel deals India

#3 – India travel agents forum

Blogs build brands and vice versa. Create an informative blog that’s subtle with the promotions.

By talking about the places you’re going to cover and the sights they’re going to see, you’ll give travellers something to salivate over. More eyeballs equal more conversions.

travel blog

Take it one step further by promoting your blog. Share it on social media and in relevant communities.  Partner with other travel bloggers and exchange guest posts with them. Find your next guest author in this list of the top 100 travel bloggers in India .

4. Advertise Advertise Advertise

Google AdWords is your best bet – but that’s what it makes competitive. Be smart and optimize your ads on long-tail keywords that your target audience is searching for. For example, ‘best travel deals for (place)’ or ‘top places to visit in (number of) days’.

Facebook advertising   is also a great way to reach out to a specific audience. Specify the demographics that you are looking for. For each type of deal, choose your target age group, and filter their interests to include travel, backpacking and more.

5. Build Relationships

It’s always easier to sell to an existing customer than to acquire a new one. When you’ve spent so much time and resources to convert a prospect into a paying client, you need to build on that foundation.

Travel is not a one-time thing – if you give people an amazing experience, they’re going to want to come back, and they’re going to want you again.

Stay in touch even after the trip is done, inquire about feedback and use it to better your packages. Email marketing is a great way to do this. Use your website or blog to expand your subscriber list and curate effective and exclusive information for this group.

6. Collaborate with an Influencer

Influencer marketing can help you scale your travel eCommerce quickly by making your business reach more people. There are lots of influencers on Instagram who posts exclusively travel-related content. You could reach out to them for collaboration by offering them a complimentary tour package.

They can create great content for you and promote your travel business on their social media handle, which will reach a wide audience. Make sure that the influencer you choose has a genuine follower base and can benefit your business.

8 Tips on How to Sell Tour Packages That Will Surely Pay Off

In order to sell travel packages effectively, you need to be well-informed about the industry and what potential customers are looking for. This blog post will teach you how to do just that!

But first, what exactly are tour packages?

A tour package is a pre-planned trip that includes transportation, accommodation, and activities. Tour packages can be customized to suit your interests and budget, and they offer a convenient way to see a new place.

Whether you're looking for a romantic getaway or an action-packed adventure, there's a tour package for you. And best of all, tour packages take the hassle out of planning a trip. All you have to do is book your tour and show up - everything else is taken care of.

Now that you have an understanding of what tour packages are, let's dive into the tips of how to sell tour packages online.

1. Research your target market.

Before you start selling tour packages online, it's important to do your research and identify your target market .

Who are you trying to reach with your tour packages? What are their interests and needs?

Once you have a good understanding of your target market, you'll be able to create marketing materials and sales strategies that are tailored to them.

sale tour online

Diving into selling a tour package without looking into the market is like flying blind, so do your research first. You also won't be able to accept online bookings if you don't know the ins and outs of what you offer. So, take the time to read through all the details and ask questions if needed.

Knowing your tour package options in great detail will help you sell them more effectively.

2. Create a strong branding strategy.

So you're thinking about starting a tour business? Congratulations! The tourism industry is growing rapidly, and there's plenty of room for new businesses. But before you start booking customers and accepting online bookings, it's important to make sure that your brand strategy is on point.

sale tour online

Any successful business knows that a great brand is more than just a pretty logo. Your brand is the personality of your company, and it should be reflected in everything from your website to your customer service. When it comes to tour companies, it's especially important to have a strong brand strategy in your digital marketing efforts.

After all, your customers are entrusting you with their vacations and future trips- something that is often emotionally charged and highly personal. As such, they need to know that they can rely on a great travel business to provide a unique and memorable experience .

sale tour online

Your tour company's brand should convey the unique experience that you offer to your target audience. What sets you apart from the competition? Do you focus on small groups or intimate tours? Do you only use local guides who are experts in the area? Whatever your selling point may be, make sure that it comes across loud and clear in your branding.

In addition to conveying what makes your company special, your brand strategy should also be engaging and exciting . You want your customers to be excited about taking one of your tours online!

Use strong visuals and persuasive language to get your specific audience interested in what you have to offer. With a well-executed brand strategy, your digital marketing will be well on your way to success in the tour business.

3. Invest in SEO.

Search engine optimization (SEO) is essential for any business that wants to be visible online.

sale tour online

When potential customers search for tour companies online, you want yours to come up as high as possible in the search results. By optimizing your website for search engines, you'll be able to attract more visitors who are looking for what you have to offer. And, when you have more visitors, you'll be able to sell more tour packages.

It's a simple formula that can lead to big results. But, SEO isn't just about getting more traffic. It's also about improving the quality of the traffic that you're getting.

When you invest in SEO, you'll be able to target your ideal customer with laser precision.

sale tour online

You'll be able to create content and ads that speak directly to their needs and desires. As a result, you'll be able to close more online bookings and generate more revenue.

4. Use social media effectively.

As a tour company, one of the creative ways to use social media is to promote your business. You can use platforms like Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram to share information about your company, upcoming tours, and special deals.

sale tour online

Anyone in the travel industry will tell you that social media is a must-have for selling tour packages online. What better way to show off your destination than through beautiful photos and informational videos?

Travelers can get a taste of what they can expect, and you can target your content to specific audiences to your chosen sales channels. For example, if you're selling a luxury beach vacation, you can target your ads to other customers who have shown an interest in travel and luxury brands.

sale tour online

In addition, social media is a great way to build relationships with potential and current customers. You can interact with them directly, answer their questions, and provide valuable information that will help them plan their next trip.

By responding to comments and questions, you create a sense of connection and rapport. And when people feel like they know and trust you, they're more likely to book a tour with you.

5. Create a strong website.

Having a great website is essential if you want your business to succeed. Your website is often the first impression that potential customers will have of your business, so it's important to make sure it's well-designed and user-friendly.

sale tour online

A good website will be informative and easy to navigate, with clear contact information and an obvious call to action.

It should also be visually appealing , with high-quality images and a clean, modern design. If your tour operator website is working well, it will help you to attract new customers and grow your business.

sale tour online

Make sure to include clear calls to action on your landing pages and make it easy for visitors to find the information they're looking for. Be sure to also include quality content, plenty of photos and videos that showcase your tour packages in action.

6. Offer discounts and promotions.

When it comes to tour packages, one of the best ways to entice potential customers and stay ahead of competition is to offer discounts and promotions. Everyone loves a good deal, and by offering discounts, you can make your tour packages even more irresistible.

sale tour online

There are a few different ways to go about doing this. You can offer early bird discounts for people who book a tour package in advance, or you can offer group discounts for larger parties. You can also run seasonal promotions, such as offering a discount for travel during the off-season.

sale tour online

Whatever route you decide to go, offering discounts is a good way to boost interest in your tour packages.

Of course, it is important to make sure that your discounts and promotions are reasonable and appealing to your target audience. But if done correctly, discounts and promotions can be a powerful tool to increase sales.

So don't be afraid to offer a little incentive to potential customers. In most cases, it might just be the thing that convinces them to book a tour package with you!

7. Get listed in directories and travel guides.

Many tourists search for destination guides covering things to do when planning their vacations. Some even do this as the first thing, so take advantage of this. As a result, getting your tour company listed in these publications can be an effective way to sell a tour package and attract customers.

sale tour online

Travel guides often provide detailed information about different destinations, making them a valuable resource for travelers. In addition, many travel guides also include ratings and reviews of different hotels, restaurants, and attractions.

So, getting your tour company listed in a travel guide can help to increase its visibility and attract potential customers.

Similarly, you can make it easier for potential customers to find your business and learn more about your services. Many directories also offer advertising opportunities, which can help to further increase your company's visibility.

sale tour online

There are several ways of doing this- one option is applying directly with the guide or directory. Another would involve finding somebody who offers listings service for multiple magazines at once (this saves time!). The benefit? You'll get seen by millions more people than if we just submitted individual applications!

No matter which route you choose, getting your tour company listed in travel guides and directories can be a great way to reach new customers.

By taking advantage of these resources, you can help ensure that your tour packages get seen by the right people - and ultimately drive more sales.

8. Partner up with resellers

Tour operators that partner up with resellers have a great opportunity to boost booking levels and generate multiple streams of income. Resellers can help tour operators by expanding their reach to new markets , promoting their tours more effectively, and providing additional sales support.

sale tour online

In return, tour operators can provide resellers with exclusive access to their inventory, marketing resources, and expertise. By partnering with resellers, tour operators can tap into new markets, drive more sales, and create a steadier stream of income. And that's good news for everyone involved!

Also, you'll be able to reach a wider audience and tap into new markets. Plus, you'll be able to create multiple streams of income, which will help to insulate your business from downturns in the economy.

And best of all, partnering with resellers is a win-win proposition - they'll be able to sell more of your tours, and you'll be able to boost your bottom line.

Ticketinghub's channel manager is the perfect solution for companies looking to expand their reach and increase their visibility.

sale tour online

With direct integration into the largest Online Travel Agents (OTA), Ticketinghub's channel manager provides companies with the opportunity to sell their tour packages to a wider audience.

And because Ticketinghub offers a variety of marketing and promotional tools, companies can be sure that their travel packages will be seen by potential customers all over the world.

Looking for a way to partner up with agents and resell your tour package offers? Then, consider using Ticketinghub's channel manager. It's the perfect solution for expanding your business.

With Ticketinghub, you'll get:

  • An easy-to-use platform that makes it simple to list your tours

Key Takeaways

Selling tour packages online is a great way to drive sales and reach new customers. To be successful, tour operators need to be strategic about their marketing efforts.

Imagine Dragons’ sixth studio album LOOM represents the pinnacle of their artistic journey of self-discovery and marks the best body of work they’ve ever made. LOOM , produced entirely by Imagine Dragons and their longtime collaborators Mattman and Robin, finds the perfect balance between the classic sounds that have made them superstars and the freshness that brought them joy in the studio. Featuring 9 brand new tracks including hit single “Eyes Closed”, LOOM signifies new beginnings on the horizon – the excitement for a new day, moments yet to come.

Last year, the members of Imagine Dragons found themselves with a rare and well-deserved break from the road—perhaps their longest in many years. So, they made the most of it by devoting that time to family and friends. Catalyzed by this respite with a refreshed perspective, the band rallied together in the studio and mined the same well of inspiration that fed their most beloved material. The musicians reflected on the past in order to catapult into a future where stylistic boundaries have disappeared entirely and anything is possible creatively. This journey has brought them to their most dynamic and definitive body of work to date, LOOM .

To herald LOOM , the band recently shared their soaring new anthem entitled “Eyes Closed.” Check out the video HERE . The track illuminates their penchant for boundary-breaking. Stretching the limits of the soundscape almost to the breaking point, they harness a burst of energy with a rafter-reaching refrain primed to soar on the upcoming summer tour.

It’s the year of the Dragons …

ABOUT IMAGINE DRAGONS:

Imagine Dragons continue to redefine rock in the 21 st century. Filling stadiums, crafting cloud-rattling anthems, and breaking records at every turn, diamond-certified GRAMMY® Award-winning Las Vegas quartet Imagine Dragons occupy rarified air as one of the biggest rock bands in the world. Tallying cumulative sales of 74 million album equivalents, 65 million digital songs, and over 160 billion streams, they stand out as “the only band in history to earn four RIAA Diamond singles , ” namely “Radioactive” (16x-platinum), “Believer” (13x-platinum), “Thunder” (12x-platinum) and “Demons” (11x-platinum). Since emerging in 2009, they’ve scored five consecutive Top 10 debuts on the Billboard Top 200 with Night Visions [2012] (7x-platinum) (KIDinaKORNER/Interscope), Smoke+Mirrors [2015] (platinum) (KIDinaKORNER/Interscope), Evolve [2017] (triple-platinum) (KIDinaKORNER/Interscope), Origins [2018] (platinum)(KIDinaKORNER/Interscope), and Mercury – Act 1 [2021]( KIDinaKORNER/Interscope). With the release of Mercury – Act 2 (KIDinaKORNER/Interscope) in 2022, they completed their first double-album opus produced by the legendary Rick Rubin. The hit single “Bones,” featured on Mercury Act 2, went to number one at Alternative Radio and remains in the Global Top 50 on Spotify. The band’s hit collaboration with East Atlanta-based rapper J.I.D, “Enemy,” has racked up billions of global streams and landed at #6 on the IFPI Global Singles Chart for 2022. DETROIT (AP) — The NFL draft has taken the show on the road for a decade, giving cities around the country a chance to be in the spotlight.

Detroit is on the clock.

The Motor City, which was once one of the nation’s largest and most powerful cities, has bounced back from filing for bankruptcy in 2013.

Fans driving and flying into town from the league’s other 31 teams will see signs of progress from the symbolic to the significant.

DETROIT is spelled out, each letter standing 10 feet off an embankment alongside a freeway between the airport and downtown, in an art installation that made its debut earlier this month.

A few miles away, the long-abandoned Michigan Central Station has undergone a renovation funded by Ford Motor Co. to transform the 18-story, 113-year-old train depot from an eyesore into a gem.

In the heart of downtown, where the NFL draft will begin Thursday night, a 685-foot-high tower represents the largest construction project in the city in more than a half-century as it rises from the site of the former Hudson’s department store.

With more than 50 million viewers and an expected 400,000 visitors over the three-day event, there will be a chance to change the conversation about the city.

The league said Rodgers, 26, is cleared to participate in team activities, effective immediately. The Eagles signed Rodgers in August 2023, two months after the Indianapolis Colts waived him. (AP Photo/Gary McCullough, File)

Lions President Rod Wood pitched the city as a draft destination in 2016 and teamed up with the Detroit Sports Commission a year later to submit the formal bid to land the NFL’s annual event that gives fans from each team a jolt of hope.

The Lions and the local sports commission also partnered with Visit Detroit, Dan Gilbert’s real-estate company, Bedrock, and the Detroit Police Department to make the most of the opportunity.

“The draft here in Detroit is going to make a big step for us in making that old image go away and people having the new image of the city,” Gilbert told The Associated Press. “We’re going to be able to showcase Detroit like never before.”

That’s part of the NFL’s plan, and it has led to 20-plus cities vying for a future draft. Green Bay will host next year’s draft.

After the league had its last draft in New York a decade ago, it envisioned giving cities — particularly those in colder climates that may not host a future Super Bowl — a chance to have a signature event that would have a lot of benefits, including an economic impact.

Chicago was the first tour stop in 2015 and it generated $81 million for the community. Kansas City had it last year, sparking $164 million in economic impact.

“Another opportunity for our franchise and our city and just for the world to kind of migrate to downtown Detroit,” said Lions general manager Brad Holmes, who has turned around a franchise that is coming off its best season since winning the 1957 NFL title. “I expect it to be pretty packed. I’m excited for all the businesses.”

Detroit’s draft is expected to bring in at least $160 million, giving small businesses a boost from fans flocking in and around Campus Martius Park.

One longtime business is looking forward to more than just an increase in foot traffic.

Lauren Stovall, the business lead at Hot Sam’s, and two others representing the 103-year-old men’s clothing store and tailor shop will be onstage during the draft’s final day Saturday.

“There’s a perception of Detroit that comes from people who actually have not been here,” Stovall said. “What’s so great is when people actually come to Detroit, they are blown away, because Detroit is not what they might have thought.”

There are new hotels, high-end and trendy restaurants and bars along with a skyscraper nearing completion. Challenges continue to exist in some neighborhoods as the city continues to demolish abandoned houses, including more than 25,000 over the past 10 years. Crime has been trending down and homicides are the lowest since 1966.

“We’re not going to lose our balance patting ourselves on the back,” Detroit Police Chief James White said.

Hundreds of uniformed and plainclothes officers from Detroit, county, state and federal agencies will patrol the greater downtown area. White said all the city’s police officers will work shifts during the draft, some downtown, others in neighborhoods.

Bomb-sniffing dogs and other K-9 teams will be flown into Detroit by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, which also has pledged to have its tactical team on standby. Intelligence agents are monitoring social media for any threats.

Mayor Mike Duggan devoted some time during his annual State of the City address Wednesday to talk about the importance of the draft turning a lot of eyes on Detroit. Visitors for the draft are “going to see a very different city,” the mayor promised.

“We have a chance to reintroduce Detroit to America,” Duggan said.

Associated Press writers Corey Williams and Mike Householder contributed to this report.
