San Miguel, Bulacan – is one of the most historic towns in Bulacan, dating back to the pre-Spanish colonial era. According to historians, its original name is “Mayumo,” from the Kapampangan term for “sweets.” Later it was renamed “Miguel de Mayumo” after the first town mayor, Miguel Pineda.

With the influence of the Catholic church and the Augustinian missionaries, the town was renamed “San Miguel de Mayumo” in honor of San Miguel de Arkanghel (St. Michael the Archangel), the patron saint of the town. If you’re the kind of traveler who likes taking lots of pictures, be sure to schedule a stop at the Ipo Dam View Deck in Norzagaray. Not only does it offer breathtaking views of Ipo Dam and the Sierra Madre mountain range, but it also has several photo spots, including a huge man-made nest, a swing, a kubo (a wooden hut), and other wooden structures. The Malolos Cathedral is famous for being declared the Minor Basilica of Our Lady of Immaculate Conception by Pope John Paul II and its distinct role in Philippine history. From September 1898 to March 1899, the convent was used as General Emilio Aguinaldo’s presidential palace. As he was fleeing from Americans, he ordered that the convent and the church be burned, making them useless to the enemy. 

Fortunately, the convent and the church were gradually rebuilt, and in 1962 the church was inaugurated as a cathedral. Today, the cathedral serves as the ecclesiastical seat of the Diocese of Malolos. On your visit, don’t forget to check out the Kalayaan Tree (Freedom Tree), a centuries-old tree believed to have been planted by Aguinaldo himself.

This butterfly sanctuary in San Francisco, Pulilan is the residence of the Aguirre family, which was opened to the public so people can appreciate the butterflies living in their garden. A visit here will let you get close to different species of plants and butterflies and see a butterfly nursery, making it a good place to commune with nature or educate children about the importance of all creatures on the planet. 

You can also explore the Bulacan Doll Museum, which is located within the property. It is host to 17 dioramas that depict historical events in the Philippines. If you’re visiting during the hotter months, you might want to bring swimwear as you can cool off at their pool.

This strawberry farm in Calumpit is four hectares and houses around 30,000 strawberry plants. Started by a self-taught strawberry farmer in 2013, Reyes Strawberry farm has attracted many visitors as it is also home to other fruit-bearing plants like grapes, dragon fruit, and rambutan. 

The highlight of a trip here is the strawberries. Not only will you be able to take in the view of the rows upon rows of strawberry plants, but you can also pick some of the fruits yourself.

You’ll have several choices, as the strawberries growing here originated from different places like Baguio , California, Australia, and Hawaii. If possible, time your visit during December when a lot of the plants bear fruit.

Bitbit Bridge is not just your regular bridge. Its location in Norzagaray and its 100-foot elevation allow it to give you amazing views of the Sierra Madre mountain range and the Bitbit River.

Because of this, it has become popular with bikers who want a quick escape from the city. At one end of the bridge is the entrance to the Angat Rainforest and Ecological Park, which has its own trails and view decks.

If you’re feeling more adventurous, you can try rappelling from the bridge down to the river, where you can take a quick dip after. Don’t forget to bring a drone if you have it, as the aerial views the area offers are also spectacular.

8. Bakas River 

Another stop in Norzagaray that you should add to your list is Bakas River. It is believed that the markings left on some of the rocks along the riverbank are the footprints of Bernardo Carpio, a legendary being with superhuman strength. This is where the river got its name. Bakas means “trace” in Filipino. 

The river is actually part of the Angat River and is located in Barangay Matictic. It has become popular for both locals and travelers from afar because of its clear and clean waters that are perfect for swimming.

If you’re planning to stay here the whole day, you can rent huts along the riverbank, as well as ring floaties. Just be mindful of where you walk or swim, as the current can be strong and some of the rocks are slippery.

This 140-hectare tourism zone in Bocaue is home to the massive Bulacan arena. Officially called the Philippine Arena, it has a seating capacity of 55,000 and is the largest indoor arena in the world.

One of the must-visit historical spots in the Philippines is the Pinagrealan Cave in Norzagaray. The cave is more than a kilometer deep and was used by the Katipuneros (members of the anti-colonialism revolutionary society) as a camp during the Spanish colonial period. It is also believed to have been General Emilio Aguinaldo’s hideout during the Filipino-American war.

Today, if you visit the cave, you’ll be able to see gorgeous limestone rock formations that vary in color (from pink to white and brown), as well as stalactites and stalagmites that seem to sparkle when the light catches them.

Exploring the cave requires you to squeeze through narrow passageways and wade through waist-deep waters, so make sure to dress and pack for those instances.

One of the mountains near Manila that have become popular for hikers is Mt. Balagbag. If you’re a beginner who wants to try Bulacan hiking, this mountain in San Jose del Monte is one of the best places to start.

The trek to the summit is fairly easy, but if you’re doing a late morning or early afternoon trek, make sure to apply sunblock, wear a hat, and bring lots of water as the trail can be hot.

If you want to pack light, just bring some money and buy food at the stores you’ll encounter on the way to the summit. Once there, you’ll be rewarded with a view of the Sierra Madre mountain range and Metro Manila. 

Bulacan tours are incomplete without a visit to Barasoain Church. Officially known as Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish, the church was the site of the first Philippine Congress in 1898 and the inauguration of the First Philippine Republic in 1899. The Malolos Constitution was also drafted here. The church is also known for being featured in the last incarnation of the PHP10 bill.

The church itself was finished in 1888 and is made of stone and features Baroque architecture typical during the Spanish period. If you have a lot of time during your visit, you should also check out the Barasoain Museum or the Museo ng Republika ng 1899 (Museum of the 1899 Republic), which features dioramas of the historical events that happened at the church.

Perhaps the most famous Bulacan park, Biak-na-Bato National Park is a protected area located in San Miguel. The 2,117-hectare park is known for its historical significance, as it served as the mountain hideout of Filipino revolutionaries as they fought the Spanish forces. This was also where the Republic of Biak-na-Bato was established by General Emilio Aguinaldo.

Today, the park serves as a getaway for those who want to connect with nature by doing hiking tours and explore rock formations, caves, and rivers. Wear comfortable clothes and shoes on your visit as some areas require a bit of a trek to reach.

Many hikers come to the park to climb Mt. Gola and Mt. Manalmon. If you want a bit of a challenge and can only choose one of these mountains to conquer, Mt. Gola is for you. 

The trek to the summit can take an hour, and you will need to crawl through some steep trails to cross it safely or use a rope to pull yourself up. The trail also passes through a small stream, so be ready to get your shoes wet. Once you reach the summit, the view of the mountains and the Madlum River will greet you.

If you want a less complicated hike, try Mt. Manalmon. Your trek will start by passing through Madlum Cave, leading you through a shallow part of Madlum River before you begin to climb the mountain. 

While the climb itself is easier than that of Mt. Gola, you’ll still be rewarded with a beautiful view of the Madlum River and Mt. Arayat when you reach the summit. It could take you roughly two hours to reach the top, so make sure you bring enough water with you. If you’re feeling even more adventurous, you can also spend the night here by staying overnight at the campsite near the summit. You can also choose to climb both. In fact, you can book a Mt. You don’t have to climb mountains to experience the park, though. You can also choose to explore Madlum Cave itself, which takes its name from the Kapampangan term for dark, “madalalumdum.” During World War II, the cave served as a hideout for Japanese soldiers.

Inside, you’ll see picturesque limestone formations and glittering stalactites and stalagmites. Even if it’s just a small cave, it can be quite an adventure to explore it because of its narrow passageways and its different elevations—you’ll need to rappel down some of the areas. Just be careful where you step on, as some rocks can be slippery. 

If you’re still looking for a challenge after Madlum Cave, you should try spelunking at Bayukbok Cave. Exploring it will require you to twist your body to fit tight passageways, so be prepared to crawl your way through rock formations and stalagmites.

It will all be worth it once you reach what is called the music room, or a cavern with limestone formations that produce percussion-like sounds when lightly tapped. Don’t forget to wear comfortable clothing and be prepared to get wet, as there are times that the cave has water inside.

The Madlum River can also be found inside Biak-na-Bato National Park. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is a popular place for swimming because of its clear, cool waters and the gorgeous rock formations and lush greens along its banks.

But if you want to take a dip, you need to be mindful of the current as the waters can be strong and rise fast, especially during the rainy season. You can also try to traverse the monkey bridge, which is essentially just two hanging ropes—one for you to step on and the other for you to hold on to.

You may also explore the Balaong River, which also has beautiful rock formations along its banks. It runs through one side of the national park, with some parts of the river shallow enough to wade through from one side to the other (you may even spot carabaos wading with you!), while other portions are deep enough for a quick swim. 

Along its banks, you’ll find more caves like the Bahay Paniki Cave, Bukal Cave, and Aguinaldo Cave, which is believed to be the hideout of General Emilio Aguinaldo and the place where the pact of Biak-na-Bato (which ended the Philippine Revolution) was signed.

The falls are situated inside a lush and preserved forest where you can witness the pristine beauty of rich biodiversity such as plants, trees, animals, and also several rock formations. Also, there are still some indigenous people, the Dumagats, living there. Which only means that the culture in Kaytitinga Falls is still perfectly preserved and protected.

To reach the falls, you will need to trek for at least one (1) hour, so be prepared!

6. Mt. Manalmon

As I’ve mentioned earlier, Mt. Manalmon is the sister mountain of Mt. Gola. The two mountains are usually traversed in a twin-day hike where Mt. Manalmon is always the first one to be climbed. This is because the mountain’s elevation is 36 meters lower than Mt. Gola.

San Miguel Arcangel Church (San Miguel de Mayumo) . San Miguel Arcangel was founded by the Augustinians in 1607 as a part of the Candaba (border between Pampanga and Bulacan) visit. From 1726-1872, San Miguel Arcangel visited the towns of Gapan and Macabebe both located in Pampanga proper. San Miguel town used to be acknowledged as part of Pampanga province. The current church was built with bricks, concrete, and steel in Baroque architecture, spearheaded by Padre Juan Manuel Tombo in 1848. Construction was completed under the term of Padre Francisco Arriola in 1869. In 1898, during the Spanish regime, the church became the fortress of the Spaniards under Lieutenant Telesforo Carrasco until they yielded to Philippine revolutionaries headed by Col. Pablo Tecson. During World War 2, the structure was heavily damaged and underwent re-organizing in 1941-1948 under the term of Padre Honorio Resurreccion. It was re-constructed in 2003. To date, the church is administered by the Diocese of Malolos. San Miguel Arcangel is said to be the only Spanish-era church in Bulacan province that has a belfry attached on top of its pediment. Atop the entablature lies a stone sculpture of Saint Michael slaying the demon. The church also serves as the resting place of notable families from Bulacan, part of Philippine history you can visit the late Dr. Maximo Viola’s tomb, he is known as a close friend of Jose Rizal, who is also a propagandist and writer like Rizal. He financed the publishing of Rizal’s work – The Noli Me Tangere.

Parokya ng San Jose Esposo de Maria.  A century old parish with mixed style of architecture, during its renovation the parish was extended to accommodate more church-goers and at the same time modern designs were applied mostly within the interiors. The façade of the church was restored to its original architectural design. This parish houses Christian sculptures in different sizes and other religious items for the purpose of veneration.

Municipality of San Miguel, Bulacan.  This 2-storey structure was built in 1874. Renovations were done from 1998 – 1999 under the Chief’s town Santiago Carlos Sevilla. Our group was greeted with warm hospitality by the community. The courtesy call from the present Mayor of San Miguel, Hon. Marivee Mendez-Coronel made this tour more relevant as she discussed together with Architect Ervin Garcia of Arki’s Grill their insights and future development plans for the town’s progression. San Miguel’s major industries include quarrying, farming, and food processing. The town is known to produce products related to sweets, native delicacies, baked goods, balut, salted eggs, and Bulacan cuisines; but they are famous for their chicharons and pastillas. Also, there are unheard family heirloom recipes to discover.

Here’s our list of things to do in Biak-na-Bato National Park if you want to hike Mt. Manalmon or check out the caves like Bayubok or Madlum Cave. In Philippine History, the Republic of Biak-na-Bato was the first republic declared in the country by Emilio Aguinaldo. Most of it was located in Barangay that shares the same name. It became a National Park in 1937 as proclaimed by Manuel L. Quezon.

Located in the province of  Bulacan, this park is a popular spot for adventurers as you can get a fantastic view of the park at the top of Mt. Manalmon. It’s also very easy for beginners. Should you be up for more adventures, explore Bayubok Cave and the historical Madlum Cave. You’ll enjoy a day there and go home with fun memories.

Things to do in Biak-Na-Bato National Park

1. Hike Mt. Manalmon

If you want to try hiking near the metro, Mt. Manalmon is a great place to start if you are a beginner. The hike to the summit is 1 or 2 hours depending on your speed, another one to go down. Guides are required to help you on your trail and keep you safe. P.S. If you want more another mountain to conquer, Mt. Gola is just a 30 or 1-hour hike from here.

2. Spelunk!

Spelunk on the caves of Biak-Na-Bato National Park. There are two famous caves in the area, one is the Madlum or Manalmon Cave, that’s a location site for Mulawin as well as a refuge during World War 2. The other one is the Bayubok cave, which will take about two hours to explore as there are challenging chambers that needs you to crawl, climb, or rappel down. It’s an adventure!

3. Take a dip!

As you hike on the trail towards the caves or to another mountain (Mt. Gola), you’ll pass by Madlum River. You can surely have a picnic in this area. Don’t forget to take a dip and enjoy the waters.

• Ride a bus to Cabanatuan City or Gapan City, the ones that pass by San Miguel, Bulacan (not the ones that pass by SCTEX)
• Travel time is 2 to 3 hours
• You may pay PHP 100 – 200

• Stop at Brgy. Kamias / Camias
• From there, take a tricycle to Biak-na-Bato National Park (PHP 250 – 400 per tricycle)
• You can use google maps for this
• Take the North Luzon Expressway and take the Sta, Rita Exit
• Continue to Plaridel Bypass Road to San Miguel
• When you arrive at Brgy. Kamias, you can ask locals for the direction to Brgy. Madlum

Travel Guide Tips to Biak Na Bato National Park

• It’s better if you are fit if you want to enjoy all of the activities here
• Pack lunch or food as there are not restaurants or carenderias in the area
• Bring extra clothes, especially if you will be swimming
• As you will cross the river, you can use those easy-to-dry sandals or shoes; it should also be comfortable for hiking
• Use sunblock or at least wear proper attire during your trekking or spelunking
• You can also bring waterproof bags or gadgets
• Bring lots of water for hydration
• Be mindful of the rules; no vandalizing or littering in the area

Hills & Valleys Cafe  

Hills & Valleys Cafe is an excellent spot to sit back and relax in San Jose Del Monte Bulacan. This coffee shop in Bulacan offers delicious Vietnamese and Spanish lattes made by their talented baristas.  

The interior is very Instagrammable. It gives off a comfortable environment that allows you to relax, making it a perfect spot to end your day of discovering the beautiful tourist spots of Bulacan.  

Getting to Hills & Valleys Cafe is super easy. You can use Waze and Google maps to point you to the right directions. They also have available parking spaces for your vehicles.

Barasoain Church

One of the most iconic spots in Bulacan is the Barasoain Church. Also known as Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish, this was where the first Philippine Congress in 1898 convened and the location of the inauguration of the First Philippine Republic the following year.  

The draft of the Malolos Constitution was created in the Barasoain Church. This spot has so much historical significance that it was featured in the 10 pesos bill.  

Aside from its history, the Barasoain Church is also a location for architecture enthusiasts. It features well-preserved Baroque architecture, which was popular during the Spanish period.  

Malolos Cathedral

The Philippines is predominantly a Roman Catholic country, and its home to multiple century-old cathedrals that are rich in history and culture. One of these is the Malolos Cathedral.  

Pope John Paul II declared the Malolos Cathedral as the Minor Basilica of Our Lady of Immaculate Conception. Prior to that, General Emilio Aguinaldo made it the presidential palace.  

However, he ordered the covenant and the church to be burned as he was escaping the Americans so that they would not be able to use it. It was later rebuilt and declared as a cathedral.  

Biak-na-Bato National Park

Biak-na-Bato National park is located in San Miguel, Bulacan. It is a 2,117 hectare protected area, primarily known for its historical significance as it was used as a mountain hideout by Filipino revolutionaries who fought against the Spanish forces. General Emilio Aguinaldo also established the Republic of Biak-na-Bato.  

Today, Biak-na-Bato has become a favorite among hiking enthusiasts who are looking for a quick nature getaway. It features plenty of caves, rock formation and rivers. If you are planning to hike here, make sure to wear comfortable clothes and shoes because the peak is quite challenging to reach.

Most hikers visiting Biak-na-Bato climb Mt. Manalmon or Mt. Gola. If you are a newbie, its highly recommended to choose Mt. Manalmon since Mt. Gola can be more challenging since it has steep trails that you have to crawl through.  

Pulilan Butterfly Haven

The Pulilan Butterfly Haven is a sanctuary located in San Francisco, Pulilan. It is also the residence of the Aguirre family who were kind enough to open their doors to the public to share the beautiful butterflies in their garden.  

Here, you’ll witness different varieties of butterflies and plants. You can also take a close peek at the butterfly nursery and see how they transform from worms into beautiful creatures.  

To make the most of your visit, you can also go to the Bulacan Doll Museum which is a stone throw away from the butterfly sanctuary. The museum features Philippines historical events in the through 17 dioramas.

Ipo Dam View Deck

Ipo Dam is a water reservoir located 7.5 kilometers from the Angat Dam in Norzagaray, Bulacan. It’s one of the major sources of water supply for Metro Manila.  

At the same time, it’s surrounded by majestic mountains, giving it beautiful scenery. Because of this, the Ipo Dam View Deck was built.  

Puning Cave

Puning Cave is located in Dona Remedios Trinidad.   It was declared by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources as one of the caves in the Philippines that’s critical to the ecosystem.  

When you visit this spot, you pass by a rainforest which is home to deers, wild boars, different bird species, and monkeys. If you’re lucky, you might be able to see them from afar.

The paths in Punning cave can be quite narrow so it’s highly recommended to prepare the right gear for the trip. You can also bring food and eat it in cottages in the area which you can rent. If you want, you can also have the locals cook for a fee.

Reyes Strawberry Farm

The Reyes Strawberry Farm is located in a 4 hectare land in Calumpit. The farm has 30,000 strawberry plants.  

This farm was built in 2013 by a self-taught strawberry farmer. Since then, it has attracted thousands of visitors from neighboring cities who want to experience eating and picking fresh strawberries.  

There are different types of strawberry varieties here. Some are from Baguio, Hawaii, Australia, and California. There are also other fruits here like grapes, rambutan, and Dragon Fruit.  

If you are planning to visit the Reyes Farm, it’s highly recommended that you go here in December because that’s the peak season.

Ciudad De Victoria

Ciudad de Victoria is where the massive Bulacan Arena, also known as the Philippine arena is located. This is a 14-hectare tourism zone.

Aside from the Philippine arena, what makes Ciudad de Victoria a must-visit spot is The Garden. Here, you’ll find a wide variety of beautiful flowers and plants, carefully arranged, allowing you to have a picturesque view.  

There are also other picture perfect spots in Ciudad de Victoria including its iconic giant teddy bear, green jeepney, and big chess pieces. There’s even a huge peacock. This spot is truly family-friendly as it also has trampolines, a mini zoo, and a playground for your littles ones.

Grotto of Our Lady of Lourdes

The Grotto of Our Lady of Lourdes is visited by millions of Catholic devotees to meditate, pray, and leave offerings. This grotto is located in San Jose del Monte just right by the Metro Manila boundary making it very accessible to those who are traveling from neighboring cities.  

Upon first glance, you might be thinking that you are looking at the Rosary Basilica which is located in the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Lourdes in France. Well, you are not mistaken because the design of this grotto is a tribute to that religious site.  

The story of why this grotto was built in 1965 is quite interesting. Anita Guanzon was given a cancer diagnosis. She was later cured after taking a bath in the Lourdes waters in France. Because of this, the Guanzon family decided to convert their farmland into the grotto and open it to the public.

The easiest way to get to Bulacan from Manila is by private vehicle. You simply have to input your destination in Waze or Google Map and you’ll be guided to the province.

If you are planning to use public transportation, the main options you have is bus and taxi. The most affordable bus from Manila to Bulacan is via Manila Cubao. This route takes 1 hour and 4 minutes on average and the ticket price is between 70 to 120 php.

You can take a taxi if you don’t mind paying for more as the fare usually costs between 450 to 550 php. It can even be more expensive when there’s a lot of traffic. However, the trade off is that this option is faster and you’ll arrive in Bulacan in around 30 to 40 minutes.

Cavite is bigger than Bulacan in terms of population with 3.6 million residents. Bulacan has only 3.2 million.

What language is used in Bulacan?

Bulacan: A Town of Caves

Biak-na-Bato in San Miguel (de Mayumo), Bulacan is a town of caves. The name suggests a huge rock broken into several pieces or cracked into several openings. Spelunkers, cave tourists and other tourists will love this tourist spot that boasts of more than a hundred caves, complete with stalagmites, stalactites, spring waters, flora and fauna, the works.

Cave tourists don't have to be expert cave explorers or dwellers to look inside Biak-na-Bato. It’s been open to tourists as a national park since November 16, 1937 by Presidential Proclamation No. 223. It’s safe. Just go right in. Back then, the proclamation covered a total of 2,117 hectares spanning three barangays: Sibul and Biak-na-Bato in San Miguel, and Kalawakan in Trinidad. Today the tourist spot is limited to 659 hectares--all for cave tourists.

Going to this tourist spot is some two hours from Manila. Just hit the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) in Balintawak, Quezon City and the road signs and directions along NLEX will take care of everything for the cave tourist.

There’s an easier route from SM City at North EDSA to San Miguel. Take an air-conditioned hired van (P 50 or a dollar) and sit back shoulder to shoulder with other passengers. From San Miguel, it will be an easy tricycle ride to the spot. In all, the travel will take one to one and half hours.

It is 1897. Emilio Aguinaldo, a young leader of the revolution and would-be president, retreats from Talisay, Batangas to the formidable cave fortress of Biak-na-Bato with 500 men. He finds the mountainous place abundant with streams, forests, rocks, and caves. Limestones like marble tea rose—nothing like it anywhere else and which will be very expensive a century hence—flourish.

There he puts up the short-lived Biak-na-Bato Republic. He was pressured by Spain to give up the quixotic struggle and his cavernous office, but Emilio is stubborn. Spain appoints Don Pedro Paterno to dissuade Emilio. Don Pedro frequented him in his cave headquarters. After five harrowing months, Emilio finally succumbs to a voluntary exile to Hongkong, with $800,000 (Mexican dollars) for him and his leaders.

Emilio signs the pact with Primo de Rivera, the walls of Bukal Cave, also called Aguinaldo Cave, as silent witness.

Today, there’s an arched bridge leading to the tourist spot, Biak-na-Bato National Park, for cave tourists to cross on—an enshrined connection to the glorious past of Bulacan. It is also a bridge that transports one to a scene a century ago when a nation was at the pains of birth.

Aside from seeing the diverse rock openings of this tourist spot in Biak-na-Bato, a visit can also be an experience for cave tourists in reminiscing the historic past of a struggling revolution, a republic, and its national leader.

Greetings: This will be our fourth trip back home. ( Well, at least back to my wife's country ). She's a country girl from santa lucia, capas tarlac. This time around we will hit five wonderful sites. Botolan wild life game farm, mount pinatubo crater lake, the monastary of the servants of the Risen Christ near tarlac city in san jose, mount arayat national park and last but not least Biak-na-bato. My wife feels that the cave exploring will be the best. When will we go to these places? Between april25 and may24/10. Biak-na-bato is so rich in history, i'm sure our kids and relatives will be just as thrilled. May God bless you guys. Bye for now.

MANILA TO BULACAN

If you want to get from Manila to Bulacan by bus. There are P2P buses leaving Manila to Bulacan every 30 minutes to 1 hour from Trinoma. From 5 am to 10 pm. Bus fare from Manila to Bulacan is 70 PHP . It will take 1 hour and 1 hour 30 minutes.

BEST TIME TO VISIT BULACAN

Philippines has only 2 seasons- wet and dry season. You should be prepared with the weather in Bulacan because it is hot and humid during the months of March to May, and can extend up to June!

The wet season starts from June to November and rainy season can start as early as May.

1. verdivia falls.

Verdivia Falls is located in Talbak Barangay, Doña Remedios Trinidad in San Miguel. It’s a perfect place for swimming and enjoying these clear waters. You can ride the bamboo rafts to take your pictures and swim around. Verdivia Falls entrance fee is 10 PHP and the guides charge 200 PHP per group.

Mt. Gola is located in Biak na Bato National Park in San Miguel. To get there you will have to get a tricycle from San Miguel to Madlum. Fare of the tricycle will be around 240 PHP for one way 3-4 people. The registration area is located from the parking lot just across the bridge.

Hiking Mt Gola is one of the most popular things to do in Bulacan. In the past the guerrillas used as a camp in the Japanese invasion times.

Mt Gola entrance fee is 30 PHP . Hiring a guide will cost you 300 PHP for a group of 5 people.

3. HIKE MT MANALMON

Mt Manalmon is one of the easiest treks if you are beginner. It’s the same like Mt Gola but just half of the way. Mt Manalmon entrance fee is 30 PHP . Hiring a guide will cost you 300 PHP for a group of 5 people.

4. EXPLORE MADLUM CAVE

Explore Madlum Cave as a part of Biak na Bato National Park you can also do this activity. After hiking Mt Gola or maybe only Mt Manalmon. Madlum Cave entrance fee is 40 PHP and the guide is 150 PHP good enough for 10 people. If you like adventure is one of the Bulacan tourist spots that you can’t miss it.

5. PINAGREALAN CAVE

Pinagrealan Cave is located in the province of Norzagaray, Bulacan. Pinagrealan Cave is a subterranean formation was once a hideout for legendary Andres Bonifacio a revolutionary leader and the president of the Tagalog Republic.

Pinagrealan Cave entrance fee is 50 PHP . Make sure you are bringing a flashlight a proper shoes for this activity.

6. PUNING CAVE

Puning Cave is located at Barangay Bayabas, Doña Remedios Trinidad with a very clear cold water and a spectacular rock formation of stalagmite and stalactite inside. Puning Cave entrance fee is 40 PHP .

7. BAYUKBOK CAVE

Bayukbok Cave is located in Barangay Sibul, San Miguel. You can visit Bayukbok Cave after hiking Mt Manalmon for relaxing and refreshing after the trekking. You will enjoy rock formations inside and it’s one of the Bulacan tourist spots that you can’t miss it.

Bayukbok Cave entrance fee is 30 PHP and hiring a guide is 300 PHP for a group of 10 people.

8. SWIMMING AT BITBIT RIVER

Bitbit River is located in Norzagaray and it’s perfect for relaxing and swimming. Just take some friends and food and you will have great time in Bulacan. One of the best things to do in Bulacan.

9. BAKAS RIVER IN NORZAGARAY

Bakas River is located in Baranggay Matictic in Norzagaray. Bakas River has rock formations with 3 huge statues of Jesus Christ and a statue of Holy Trinity-Virgin Mary.

To get to Bakas River you have to take a jeepney to Garay and drop at St.Andrew church. From here a tricycle to Bakas River will cost 150 PHP one way.

10. GAWAD KALINGA ENCHANTED FARM

Gawad Kalinga Enchanted Farm is one of the main Bulacan tourist spots. Take a jeep to Barangay Encanto and get off at Encanto Elementary School. It’s opened from 8 am to 5 pm from Tuesday to Sunday.

11. REYES STRAWBERRY FARM

The National Shrine of the Divine Mercy is located in San Jose Del Monte City. The church is dedicated to the Divine Mercy in Marilao in Bulacan. The National Shrine of the Divine Mercy was elevated to the status of National Shrine by Archbishop Orlando Quevedo and the first Mass was held 2nd of February in 1992, the Feast of the Presentation.

Obando Festival is a dance ritual and later also became a Catholic festival celebrated every May in Obando, Bulacan. Locals and pilgrims are dressing traditional costume, dancing and singing in the streets to honur and beseech Obando’s three patron saints: San Pascual, Santa Clara and Nuestra Señora de Salambáo.

It’s celebrated from 17th of May to 19th of May.

Bulacan: The Prosperous Province Forged by History and Heroism

Truly a melting pot of the past and the present, the old and the new, the countryside and the urban. Bulacan, officially called the Province of Bulacan or simply Bulacan Province, is a first class province of the Republic of the Philippines located in the Central Luzon Region (Region 3) in the island of Luzon, north of Manila (the nation's capital), and part of the Metro Luzon Urban Beltway Super Region. Bulacan was established in August 15, 1578. It has 569 barangays from 21 municipalities and 3 component cities (Malolos, the capital city; Meycauayan; and San Jose del Monte).

Bulacan prides itself on its rich history. The province figures prominently in Philippine History. Many national heroes and political figures were born in Bulacan. The province was also one of the first to revolt against Spain. The province is honored as one of the 8 rays of the sun in the national flag. It is the home of the "Three Republics." These are the Republic of Real de Kakarong de Sili (1896) in Pandi, the Republic of Biak-na-Bato (1897) and the very first Philippine Republic in Malolos (1899–1901). In recognition thereof, these three republics established in Bulacan have been incorporated in the official seal of the province of Bulacan.

In 1899, the historic Barasoain Church in Malolos was the birthplace of the First Constitutional Democracy in Asia. It is also the cradle of the nation's noble heroes, of great men and women; also home to many of the country's greatest artists, with a good number elevated as National Artists.

Bulacan has fast become an ideal tourist destination and an essential player in the tourism of the Philippines, owing to its vital role in Philippine history, and its rich heritage in culture and the arts. The province is popularly known for its historical sites; nostalgic old houses and churches; idyllic ecological attractions; religious attractions; colorful and enchanting festivals; swimming and various themed attractions; and a wide selection of elegant native crafts and sumptuous delicacies. It is also home to numerous resorts, hotels, restaurants, and other recreational facilities.

Brief History

The province's name is derived from the Tagalog word 'bulak' meaning cotton, which was its former principal product. Bulacan started with small fishing settlements along the coast of Manila Bay and expanded into the interior with the coming of the Spaniards. These settlements formed the nucleus of towns that were founded from 1572 (Bulacan and Calumpit) to 1750 (San Rafael). In 1848, the town of San Miguel was annexed to Bulacan from Pampanga. Bulacan was one of the first eight provinces to rise against Spanish rule. The first phase of the Philippine Revolution ended with the signing of the Pact of Biak-na-Bato in San Miguel in 1897 between the Filipinos and the Spaniards, after which Aguinaldo was exiled to Hong Kong. The second phase saw the drafting of the constitution of the first Philippine Republic by the Malolos Congress at Barasoain Church in 1898. The subsequently established republic had its capital at Malolos until President Emilio Aguinaldo transferred it to San Isidro, Nueva Ecija in 1899 when the Filipino-American War broke out. When the Americans established a civil government in the Philippines, they held the first election in the country in the town of Baliuag on May 6, 1899. Bulacan is the home province of heroes like Francisco Baltazar (Balagtas), "The Prince of Filipino Poets", Marcelo H. Del Pilar, "The Great Propagandist," and Gregorio del Pilar, "The Hero of Tirad Pass."

Tourist Attractions

Balagtas Monument (Balagtas, Bulacan)

• Built in honor of Francisco "Balagtas" Baltazar, Father of Tagalog Poetry, whose masterpiece "Florante at Laura" is very popular.

Biak-na-Bato Cave (San Miguel, Bulacan)

• Located in the suburbs of San Miguel de Mayumo on the northern tip of Bulacan, Biak-na-Bato became the refuge of the revolutionary army that fled Cavite and Batangas.
• Today, hanging bridges and staircases connecting rivers and caves make for a pleasurable exploration.

Bulacan Old Train Station (Guiguinto, Bulacan)

• Built in 1661, the Estacion de Guiguinto (Guiguinto Train Station) is the town's most acclaimed historical landmark and heritage site. It was upon this site that the Katipuneros (Filipino guerillas during the Spanish Regime) ambushed a train from Dagupan, killing six friars, including the parish friar of Guiguinto, Fr. Leocadio Sanchez, and a Spanish doctor. The incident inspired Severino Reyes to author the novel “Opera Walang Sugat” which was later made into a movie entitled “Walang Sugat.”

Calumpit Bridge (Calumpit, Bulacan)

• Site of the first battle between Filipino and American soldiers during the retreat of Aguinaldo to the Ilocos Region.

Casa Real Shrine (Malolos City, Bulacan)

• The shrine was built in 1580 and served as the seat of the government of the town of Malolos during the Spanish and American occupation. It also served as the office of the National Museum and National Printing Press during the first Philippine Republic where the revolutionary organs La Independencia, El Heraldo de la Rovolucion, Kalayaan and Kaibigan ng Bayan were printed. At present, it is a museum and library under the administration of the National Historical Institute. It was restored in 1852.

De Leon Ancestral Home (San Miguel, Bulacan)

• The De Leon House, built in 1914, was the home of LVN studio matriarch Dona Sisang de Leon. It still attracts people with its antique furnishings and Old-World feel. The airy two-storey mansion now holds a miraculous century-old statue, "San Miguel and the Devil," which has weathered wars, storms, earthquakes and floods.

Enriquez Ancestral House (Bulacan, Bulacan)

• Constructed during the 1850s, it is one of the ancestral houses found in San Jose, Bulacan, Bulacan. Some of the documents of Marcelo H. del Pilar were found in this house. It houses a museum of rare antiques and historical artifacts. It is presently owned by acclaimed Filipino food historian Milagros Enriquez.

Gat Marcelo H. Del Pilar Memorial (Bulacan, Bulacan)

• Shrine and birthplace of the country's great propagandist and hero. Also known by his pen name Plaridel, he founded Diyaryong Tagalog, the country's first bilingual newspaper, and then became editor of the revolutionary organ, La Solidaridad. The patriot, writer and editor is honored with this monument

Gen. Gregorio del Pilar Marker (Bulacan, Bulacan)

• The site marks the birthplace of Gen. Gregorio del Pilar. The hero of Tirad Pass, born on November 14, 1875, and died December 2, 1899. He is one of the youngest and trusted staff of President Emilio Aguinaldo.

Instituto de Mujeres (Malolos City, Bulacan)

• The building is the same august hall where twenty determined Malolenas (the so-called Women of Malolos) set up a night school to learn (or improve their) Spanish - a language that was then the gateway to knowledge of the country and of the world.

Kakarong de Sili Battle Site (Pandi, Bulacan)

• This shrine marks the battle where about 3,000 Katipuneros led by Maestrong Sebio (Gen. Eusebio Roque) died in the hands of Spanish soldiers in 1897. Maestrong Sebio was able to escape but was captured after a few days. He was summarily tried and executed on Jan. 16, 1897. It features a life-sized statue of Inang Filipina, a symbol of patriotism and nationhood. It is also the site of the Republic of Real de Kakarong de Sili of 1896.

Kamestizuhan Street (Malolos City, Bulacan)

• A row of ancestral houses that are steep in history: Estrella and Pariancillo Sts. on where stands the Ejercito House which was the Department of War of the First Philippine Republic.

Lipana House (San Miguel, Bulacan)

• Originally owned by Damaso Sempio and family where Gen. Gregorio Del Pilar once slept.

Mercado House (Bustos, Bulacan)

• This house in Bustos, Bulacan is one of the several houses used as a fort by the Katipuneros. It boasts of unique architectural designs of stone carvings on its facade and walls and distinct turn-of-the-century Mexican villa air. Truly a masterpiece of Bulacan artisans

Meyto Shrine (Calumpit, Bulacan)

• This is the cradle of Christianity in the province, where the first Catholic Mass was held by the Augustinian friars, armed with cross in 1572.

Plaridel Airport (Plaridel, Bulacan)

• Covering a span of 11 hectares of land is the only existing airport in Bulacan. Constructed by the United States Bureau of Aeronautics in 1935, the runway is a historic landmark as it once became a battleground between the Americans and the Japanese forces during World War II. Together with three Filipino officers, the Americans were able to drive out the enemies from the town.

Siar Tree (Malolos City, Bulacan)

• Popularly known as Kalayaan Tree or Peltrophorum Pterocarpum, located in the churchyard of Barasoain Church in Malolos City, Bulacan, this tree has been a living witness to many historic events that transpired in the area. It was in Barasoain Church where the three important events of our country took place: The convening of the First Philippine Congress on Sept. 15, 1898; the promulgation of the Philippine Constitution, popularly known as the Malolos Constitution on Jan. 21,1899; and the inauguration of the First Republic on Jan. 23, 1899, establishing the Philippines as the first democratic country in Asia. It was under the Siar tree where Gen. Emilio Aguinaldo found temporary refuge. Revolutionary field officers waited under its shade to see the general and report on the battles won and lost by the revolutionaries. It was planted by President Aguinaldo during a lull in the Malolos Convention.

Tecson Ancestral House (San Miguel, Bulacan)

• Three sons of the original owners were all officers of the revolutionary army of Gen. Emilio Aguinaldo. For some time, this house was used as the headquarters of Aguinaldo. The house is now owned by Mr. and Mrs. Cenen Mendiola. Simon Tecson is the original owner.

Torch of Freedom Marker (Dona Remedios Trinidad, Bulacan)

• Marker for one of the base camps of the guerillas during World War II.

Viola House (San Miguel, Bulacan)

• The original owner is Dr. Maximo Viola, a companion of Dr. Jose Rizal in Europe while Rizal was writing his famous two novels: El Filibusterismo and Noli Me Tangere. He was known to have financed the printing of the Noli Me Tangere. A doctor and a municipal councilor.

NATURAL ATTRACTIONS

Aguinaldo Cave (San Miguel, Bulacan)

• Three prominent caves exist along the banks of the Balaong River that circumscribe the historic barangay of Biak-na-Bato, namely Bahay Paniki Cave, Aguinaldo Cave and Bukal Cave. The most notable of these is the Aguinaldo Cave where the late hero, Gen. Emilio Aguinaldo, once took refuge while leading the resistance movement against the Spanish and American colonizers.

Ambush Cave (Biak-na-bato National Park, San Miguel, Bulacan)

• Located at San Miguel Bulacan, Biak-na-bato National Park, this cave is two-hour-and-a-half ride by land from Manila. Its flora such as G. Melina, teak, buho, tibig and vines are found outside the cave and a few stalactites and stalagmites, and stone formations are found inside the cave, with columns and pool. It is also open even to inexperienced cavers.

Aroma Beach (Hagonoy, Bulacan)

• A sandy beach with aromatic plants, it is frequented by local picnickers during summer months.

Bahay Paniki Cave / House of Bats (San Miguel, Bulacan)

• The cave located some 300 meters south of the Aguinaldo Cave is a bit risky to penetrate, considering the tons of debris filed by torrential flood-water (more conducive to cold-blooded snakes and poisonous scorpions). Beneath the gigantic portal, which stretches to about 30 meters up forming a large dome, are big boulders the size of a two-storey building and the way up the narrow and brittle natural bridges that lead to the inside is truly very dangerous. The cave is home to millions of bats. Tourists are treated to a rare and astounding display of natural beauty as the mammals fly overhead and out of the cave - aligned in two fronts and to converge some 200 meters into the sky on a single formation, only to disappear in the darkening horizon. In exactly 3 minutes at 6:15 p.m., the daily phenomenon ends.

Bakas (Norzagaray, Bulacan )

• Located on this site are giant limestones at the core of a river, formed like giant footprints. Townspeople claim these were actually the footprints of legendary giant Bernardo Carpio.

Bayokbok Cave (Sitio Madlum, Brgy. Sibul, San Miguel, Bulacan)

• Located at sitio Madlum, Brgy. Sibul in San Miguel, Bulacan, or some 7.5 kms. from San Miguel town proper, this cave may be reached by any motor vehicle and hiking. Madlum River is adjacent to the cave with shrimps and biya. Species of fauna can be found on the river, while insectivorous bats and a few stalactite and stalagmite formations are found inside. This cave is recommended for inexperienced cavers because of its high tourism value.

Biak-na-Bato Nature Park (San Miguel, Bulacan)

• Biak-na-Bato is a nature park located 12 kilometers from the municipality of San Miguel de Mayumo that provides a unique eco-adventure steeped in history. It is a mountain gorge sliced by the Balaong River that flows from Calumpit in Bulacan and empties into Candaba Swamp in Pampanga. The river trail winds through Aguinaldo's former natural fortress and leads to caves of natural and historical significance, observation outposts and ruins of stone fortifications.

Bukal Cave (San Miguel, Bulacan)

• The Bukal Cave (the name is vernacular for "spring") is situated on the approach of the Aguinaldo Cave. From the mouth of the cave flows crystal-clear icy waters emanating probably from a major groundwater recharge reservior. Marvelous stone formations like stalactites and flowstones deck the small dome of the cave. Faunal dwellers like mudfish, tilapia, biya, eel, freshwater shrimps, minimal bats and bivalves teem the undergound river. Bird species like kingfisher, layong-layong, tree sparrow and green doves are noted.

Cuarto-Cuarto Cave (San Miguel, Bulacan)

• Biak-na-Bato - A cave with many rooms or cuartos, it is accessed by crawling through a low entrance with a downward slope about seven meters long. Swifts and swallows nest in the nooks and crevices of this cave. These birds' nests are havested and used as the main ingridient on the popular Chinese bird's nest soup.

Dona Remedios Trinidad Natural Wonders ( Dona Remedios Trinidad, Bulacan)

• Because of its altitude, the town of Dona Remedios Trinidad has a cooler and moister climate than the rest of the towns of Bulacan. Its natural features include rivers, waterfalls, forests, springs, limestone formations mountains and hills. Magnificent and well-preserved caves can be found in Barangay Bayabas, one of which is called Puning Cave with a spring running down a mountain. Another beautiful cave is the Baras-Bakal spring cave located at Barangay Pulong Sampaloc and Madlum Cave in Biak-na-Bato National Park. It has several breathtaking waterfalls like the Tumutulo Falls in Brgy. Bayabas which drops from a height of fifteen meters into an attractive setting of white stone formation and marble and cascades further into an old stone formation called Simbahan ni Lapud (Brgy. Kabayunan), Mount Bato Falls (Brgy. Sapang Bulak), Verdivia Falls (Brgy. Talbak), Talon ni Eva (Brgy. Kalawakan) are ideal places for group picnics and outings. Preferred ecotourism activities include mountain climbing, bushwalking, rock climbing, camping, mountain biking, bird watching or simply enjoying the majestic view and landscape of the Sierra Madre Mountain Ranges.

Hilltop (Norzagaray, Bulacan)

• Also known as the Baguio City of Bulacan, this place mesmerizes tourists with a scenic view of the Sierra Madre Range. It is host to the Angat River Hydroelectric Plant of the National Power Corporation.

Hospital Cave (Biak-na-bato National Park, San Miguel, Bulacan)

• Located at San Miguel Bulacan, Brgy., Biak-na-bato National Park, this cave is a two-hour-and-a-half ride by land from Manila, with a few stalactite and stalagmite formations inside. Generally safe to inexperienced visitors and may also be utilized for economic purposes such as guano extraction and edible birds nest collection. Open to inexperienced cavers.

Liputan Islands (Meycauayan, Bulacan)

• Surrounded by fishponds, these islands are accessible only through water transportation.

Madlum Cave (San Miguel, Bulacan)

• Madlum Cave is a prominent feature in the Angat Limestone Formation which occupy most of the whole reservation of Biak-na-Bato National Park and is considered a shrine by the people of San Miguel, Bulacan. There are three giant portals to the approximately 50-meter-long cavern. An entrance to the right, which is about 30 meters from the water level of the Madlum River, is a statue of the Virgin Mary. It is the place where the town's patron saint, St. Michael, was found. It is located in Sitio Madlum, Brgy. Sibul Spring.

Mt. Lumot (Dona Remedios Trinidad, Bulacan)

• One of DRT's municipal parks, this mountain offers a wide array of eco-tourism activities like rock climbing, camping, mountain biking, mountain climbing, bushwalking, bird watching or simply enjoying the majestic view and landscape of the Sierra Madre Mountains.

Pandi Mineral and Bath Spring Resort (Pandi, Bulacan)

• This natural attraction is famous for its mineral water which is found to have medicinal and curative effects.

Pinagrealan Cave (Norzagaray, Bulacan)

• This major cave in Norzagaray is a natural refuge used by Filipinos during the struggle against Spain and the Americans and during the last world war. Floral species observed on the hills encompassing the cave are limited to shrubs, vines, cogon and some types of plants that thrive on limestone with very thin soil substrate. A few unidentified birds are noted flying over the loose canopies of the thicket. and expert cave enthusiasts.

Pug-pog River (Norzagaray, Bulacan)

• A river with clear water coming directly from the Sierra Madre Mountains.

Puning Cave (Sitio Tumama, Brgy. Bayabas, Dona Remedios Trinidad, Bulacan)

• Located at Sitio Tumana, Brgy.,Bayabas in DRT, Bulacan, the cave's physical features are mostly intact with some presence of dripstone and flowstone forms and stalactites. Flora like anabiong, hauili, kupang, narra,ipil bamboo and balete are seen outside, as well as birds (migratory & endemic), fish & shrimps. An estimated population of 4,000 fruit bats and insect bats are found inside the cave. It is open only during dry season and contain sensitive geological, archeological, cultural, historical and biological values or high quality ecosystem. The cave is open to experienced cavers or guided educational tour/visits.

Santol Cave (Biak-na-bato National Park, San Miguel, Bulacan)

• Located within the area of Biak-na-bato National Park in San Miguel Bulacan, this cave is two hours and a half ride from Manila. Flora may be found outside the cave namely pakiling, buho, tibig, vines and santol. Insectivorous bats can be seen inside the cave with geological features such as columns of stalactites and stalagmites formation inside. This cave is highly recommended as an open cave to inexperienced cavers.

Sibul Spring (San Miguel, Bulacan )

• The crystal-clear water that springs from this natural wonder is famous for its medicinal effect.

Tilandong Falls (San Miguel, Bulacan)

• A natural fall which is now tapped as a source of electric power as well as for irrigation purposes.

Tumutulo Falls (Dona Remedios Trinidad, Bulacan)

• Located at Barangay Bayabas, this breathtaking waterfall drops from a height of fifteen meters into an attractive setting of white stones and marble and cascades further into an old stone formation called Simbahan ni Lapud.

Verdivia Falls (Dona Remedios Trinidad, Bulacan)

• Located in Barangay Talbak, this splendid waterfall is an ideal venue for group picnics and outings.

LOCAL WONDERS

Apo Iru Gatbuca (Calumpit, Bulacan)

• Known as "Pottery Country", Apo Iru Gatbuca is the biggest producer of pots in the whole of Bulacan. So vast is the pot-making industry that most residents make their living out of pottery. Local artisans transform an ordinary mass of clay into an exquisite work of art - some of which are even made into glazed decorative ceramics.

Bagbag Bridge (Calumpit, Bulacan)

• Site of the longest battle between the Americans and Filipinos led by Gen. Gregorio del Pilar which took place in April 25, 1899. The bridge still standing serves as a reminder of the valor displayed by the Filipinos who triumphed against the American forces.

Bustos Dam (Bustos, Bulacan)

• The dam is one of the longest sector-gates in the world and serves as the huge reservoir of the Angat Hydroelectric plant at Barrio Hilltop. The dam was built in 1922 and serves as the source of electric power in the province and Metro Manila. It features a cool picnic haven with an inspiring scenery.

Grotto Central Cement (San Ildefonso, Bulacan)

• This place is memorable because of the grotto and statue of the Virgin Mary, the beautiful landscape, and the natural scenery.

Hanging Bridge (Marilao, Bulacan)

• A wooden bridge connecting Brgy. Lambakin and Brgy. Sta. Rosa. This place offers a scenic view of the surrounding area.

Ipo Dam (Norzagaray, Bulacan)

• The place is a water impounding dam made famous by its name synonymous with gallantry, bravery and heroism. It is used as a reservoir for the La Mesa Dam which distributes water to Metro Manila residents. The green virgin forest and sky blue water make Ipo Dam an attractive place to visit.

Marble Making Industry (Tabang, Guiguinto, Bulacan)

• As early as 1992, the Marble Association of the Philippines (MAP) conceptualized the establishment of a common service facility for processing marble tiles, and to serve as a training center for marble producers. This took the form of a polishing line for the processing of export quality marble tiles targeted to respond to the high demand in the export business.

Meycauayan Jewelry Art (Meycauayan, Bulacan)

• The intricate craftsmanship and painstaking creative dedication that the town's jewelers pour into their creations have made the town the leading producer of silver and gold jewelry in the country. As a living museum of the town's famous jewelry art, the Philippine Jewelry Center was built to showcase the craftsmanship of notable goldsmiths and silversmiths.

National Manpower Youth Center (Guiguinto, Bulacan)

• A center formed by the national government to help out-of-school youth by training them for jobs and livelihood projects.

Pulilan Butterfly Haven (Pulilan, Bulacan)

• Located along San Francisco Street, this butterfly sanctuary is also a perfect place for nature lovers where they can witness the butterfly's fascinating life cycle, enjoy lush greenery which provide an ideal habitat for the butterflies and experience nature in an oasis of beauty and tranquility with butterflies flitting from one flower to another. Sergio Bayan (Calumpit, Bulacan)

• The place produces export-quality religious products and icons. Tourists flock to the shop area to witness workers transform an ordinary mass of clay into an exquisite work of art.

Bocaue Museum (Bocaue, Bulacan)

Bulacan Museum (Capitol Cpd., Bulacan)

• The Museo ng Bulacan (Bulacan Museum) houses a collection of valuable relics and mementos, articles, documents and handicrafts of the Philippine revolution. Located in Malolos to promote the cultural heritage and tradition of the province. It is under the management of the Provincial Government of Bulacan.

NHI Ecclesiastical Museum (Malolos, Bulacan)

• An ecclesiastical museum managed by the National Historical Institute where religious artifacts and religious mementos of the province are displayed. Also featured is the Barasoain Light and Sound Museum built in time for the celebration of the centennial of Philippine Independence in 1998.

Philippine Airlines, Air Philippines, Cebu Pacific provide daily services to major cities and towns. Asian Spirit, Laoag International Airlines, and Seair service the missionary routes. There are also scheduled chartered flights to major domestic destinations serviced by smaller commuter planes.

As the islands of the Philippines are separated by different bodies of water, the sea plays an integral part in travel. A range of seafarers are available, from huge cargo ships to small ferry boats; take long trips that last for a day or two with regular ship lines or take shorter ones with ferries. Major cruise liners call on the port of Manila.

The MacArthur Highway traverses the province from north to south. Most major towns can be reached through the North Luzon Expressway. A good number of motor vehicles owned largely by private individuals provide mobility to Bulacan's populace. Aside from five main highways that traverse the province, all roads are widely dispersed throughout Bulacan.

Bus terminals of Baliuag Transit, California Bus Line, Sampaguita Liner and Royal Eagle are in Baliuag, Balagtas and Hagonoy. The main bus lines of Philippine Rabbit, Victory Liner, Aladdin Transit that originate from their main terminals in Manila, Pasay and Quezon City and travel northward to cities and towns in Pampanga, Tarlac and Zambales, pass through Bulacan via the Tabang exit.
