  • Taylor Swift’s The Eras Tour 2024 International Schedule

The Eras Tour is slowly shaping up to be one of the biggest music tours in the world. It is certainly Swift’s biggest and most important tour to date, and how could it not be? It celebrates all 10 albums (called eras) of Swift’s incredible career.

The tour began in March this year, but it’s not going to end anytime soon – it’s going to last well into November 2024!

If you want to see the whole schedule for the 2024 era of the Eras Tour, scroll down.

A Brief Wrap up of the Tour So Far

The tour, Swift’s sixth and biggest tour so far, officially started on March 17, 2023. The first show was held in Glendale, Arizona, and it was rapidly followed by a string of highly successful shows across the USA.

However, the last two segments of the tour so far took place outside of the USA, as Taylor headed to Mexico in August for a four-day fest, after which she made a brief break. The tour is set to continue briefly in November again, with three scheduled shows in Brazil.

At the end of the tour, Swift will have held 146 shows in total across 5 different continents. The social and economic impact of the tour is difficult to predict, but it is said that the concerts even affected the US economy – which is more than can be said about most concert tours in history.

The Eras Tour 2024 Dates

The tour hits a pause in November after Swift finishes with the three shows in Brazil, after which she goes on a break until February. The first concert in February is on February 7, and the location? Japan. The final show of the Eras Tour will take place in Toronto, Canada. In October, Taylor Swift is also releasing a film called Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour, a concert film documentary that is already smashing records worldwide.

Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour Verified Fan Onsale is using registration to ensure more tickets get into the hands of fans who want to go to the shows, not buyers looking to resell them.

Only fans that receive an email confirming their access will be able to join the queue for this Verified Fan Onsale. Fans who are selected will receive additional instructions on Wednesday, November 8. All others will be put on a waitlist.

Tickets for these shows will be in high demand, therefore, a limited number of fans will get access to the Verified Fan Onsale while others will be placed on the waitlist as described below. Access to the Verified Fan Onsale does not guarantee tickets. Tickets will be available on a first-come, first-served basis while currently-available inventory lasts.

Registration is open from Thursday, November 2 at 8:00 a.m. PT through Saturday, November 4 at 5:00 p.m. PT .

Key Dates to Know

Thursday, November 2 – Registration opens Saturday, November 4 @ 5:00 p.m. PT – Registration closes Wednesday, November 8 – Fans will receive confirmation if they will have access to the Verified Fan Onsale or if they have been placed on the waitlist.

Thursday, November 9 – Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour Verified Fan Onsale (only fans that received an email confirming their access will be able to join the queue for this sale). All shows will be assigned specific on-sale windows, which will be communicated prior to the start of the sale.

How Will This Sale Work?

Ticketmaster is helping artists give their fans a better opportunity to purchase tickets by creating an extra line of defense against bots and professional resellers who are looking to sell tickets for profit. The process includes three steps:

Step 1: Registration

By registering for the Verified Fan Onsale, you are letting us know that you’re interested in purchasing tickets. From the registration page, you sign into or create your account, select your preferred show(s) and register your email and phone number. Once completed, you’ll automatically receive a confirmation email letting you know that we got your request. It’s quick, easy and free to sign up.

Step 2: Verification

Next, Ticketmaster vets each request by confirming it belongs to an individual — not a bot — and that it hasn’t been tied to irregular behaviors that could be a sign of a professional seller attempting to access the sale.

Step 3: Access Code or Waitlist

When demand exceeds availability, a limited number of registered Verified Fans will get access to the sale and others will be placed on a waitlist. You’ll receive an email on Wednesday, November 8 letting you know which group you’re in. If selected to get access to the sale, you’ll receive a unique access code and purchase link via text message the day prior to your Verified Fan Onsale.

While no system can guarantee that all fans will get tickets to the show(s) they’re interested in, the Verified Fan program works to significantly block bots and professional resellers from competing against fans for tickets during the sale.

Common Questions

How do i register.

  • To register, please visit: HERE
  • Sign in using your My Account or create an account if you don’t have one.
  • Tell us what show you’re interested in and submit your registration; we’ll keep you up to date with all the latest information.

We’ll send you a confirmation email to let you know your registration was successful and what you can expect next.

If I receive access to the Verified Fan sale, am I guaranteed tickets?

No. Access means you have an opportunity to join the Verified Fan sale but it is not a guarantee you’ll be able to purchase tickets. Tickets are available on a first-come, first-served basis while currently-available inventory lasts.

If I received access to the Verified Fan sale, how do I purchase tickets?

  • At the specified time, click the link you were sent.
  • You’ll enter the Smart Queue. To keep your place in line, stay on the page and don’t refresh. Do not open more than one browser window.
  • Once it’s your turn, shop for tickets by using your unique access code. Tickets are available on a first-come, first-serve basis while currently-available inventory lasts and aren’t guaranteed. Each event has a strict four (4) ticket limit per customer.
  • Then checkout!

How many tickets can I buy with my code?

You can purchase up to 4 tickets for the one show indicated in the text you received.

When will the Waiting Room open?

The Waiting Room will open 30 minutes before the designated Verified Fan sale window begins. When the Verified Fan sale begins, fans in the Waiting Room are assigned a spot in line. Once you reach the end of the queue, you’ll have an opportunity to shop for tickets. Stay on the page and don’t refresh or you may lose your spot in line.

You must use the same Ticketmaster account that you registered with to join the Waiting Room.

How do I join the queue?

Sign in through the link that we texted to the phone number you provided during registration to access the queue.

What can I do to prepare?

If you’ve been selected to participate in the Verified Fan sale, we recommend that you prepare by signing into your Ticketmaster account before the Verified Fan sale to make sure your billing information is up to date. This will help speed up the checkout process after you’ve selected the tickets you want to buy.

My link isn’t working. What should I do?

If you registered and received access to shop for tickets through text or email from Ticketmaster, but the link’s not working, try checking these things first:

  • Make sure the event is on sale. Links are sent out before the event goes on sale but won’t work until the event is actually on sale.
  • You must be signed in with the same email address you used to register for the Verified Fan sale.

Will there be other ways to buy Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour tickets?

The only official way to get Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour tickets is through the Ticketmaster Verified Fan Onsale or through certain other limited tour-sponsored onsale opportunities for specific shows. Be on the lookout for information on these other opportunities where available.

I got an email saying I’m on the waitlist. What does that mean?

If you’re currently on the waitlist, stay tuned — you may still have an opportunity to shop for tickets.

When there are more fans than there are tickets, a limited number of fans will get access to join at the start of the Verified Fan sale and others will be placed on the waitlist.

More fans may get access to join the Verified Fan sale based on ticket availability. If you’re selected, you will receive a text with a link to join the Verified Fan sale. Please note, moving off the waitlist does not guarantee access to tickets. Tickets will be sold on a first come, first served basis while currently-available inventory lasts.

Can I register more than once to increase the likelihood that I am able to purchase tickets ?

Registering more than once for a specific event does not increase the likelihood that you are able to purchase tickets . If you want to change the event date you selected after you’ve registered, you can make those edits while the registration window is still open. We only keep the last registration you submitted.

I received a confirmation email after I registered, what does that mean?

The email is simply to inform you that we have received your registration and will be working to verify your account. It doesn’t guarantee that you will be selected for the Verified Fan sale access. A second email will be sent on Wednesday, November 8 letting you know if you will get access to the sale or if you’ve been placed on the waitlist. If selected, the day prior to your Verified Fan sale you’ll receive a text message with a unique access code and link to use.

I’m a real fan of this artist, and not a bot or reseller. Why didn’t I get access?

Selection is not a measure of how big a fan anybody is. Sometimes there simply aren’t enough tickets for everyone. When demand exceeds availability, a limited number of fans get access to the Verified Fan sale, and others must be placed on the waitlist. The number of fans who receive access depends on the number of tickets currently available — this is done to help create a less crowded ticket shopping experience for fans.

How will I know if I’ve been granted access to the Verified Fan sale after I’ve been placed on the waitlist?

If selected, you will receive a text with a unique access code and link to the ticket sale. In the event of any SMS/texting delivery issues, we’ll email your unique access code and link to the email address associated with your Ticketmaster account that you used to register. Access to the Verified Fan Onsale does not guarantee tickets. Tickets are sold on a first come, first served basis while currently-available inventory lasts. If you’re sent a unique access code and link you should join the Verified Fan sale as soon as possible for your opportunity to purchase tickets.

Taylor Swift's Eras Tour: All the U.S. and international dates and opening acts

eras tour dates march 2024

Taylor Swift opened the Eras Tour at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona — which rebranded itself as "Swift Cit y" for the March 17 and 18 concerts — with a triumphant return to live performance as the first act in the history of that venue to sell out two nights on the same tour.

By that point, she'd already broken the all-time record for most concert tickets sold by an artist in a single day and passed Madonna's Sticky & Sweet Tour as the highest-grossing tour in history by a female artist.

And Swift rose to the occasion , leading her band through a marathon 44-song set that lasted more than three hours while delivering on her promise of "a journey through all of my musical eras."

So what does she do for an encore? Here's where the Eras Tour is headed next, adding two surprise songs to the set at each show. Here's a look at what she's played so far .

As the current U.S. leg of Taylor Swift 's massively popular Eras Tour is winding down, the singer announced that the trek isn't quite over after all. She'll be back in October and November of 2024 to play four more cities in the U.S. and Canada.

Screen Rant

When taylor swift goes back on the eras tour & how many dates are left.

With Taylor Swift on a brief break from performing while prepping the release of her next album, it won't be long before she's back for The Eras Tour.

  • Taylor Swift's The Eras Tour has become the highest-grossing tour of all time, exceeding $1 billion in revenue.
  • The concert series, celebrating her first ten studio albums, will resume on May 9, 2024, in Paris, France.
  • There are 69 concert dates remaining in 2024, with additional support acts like Paramore and Gracie Abrams.

While Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour movie is finally available to stream on Disney+, the artist is taking a well-deserved break from concerts before her performances resume later this year. With a tour that encompasses and celebrates her first ten studio albums, referred to as “eras” for the concert series, Taylor Swift’s 2023-2024 The Eras Tour quickly became the highest-grossing tour of all-time after surpassing $1 billion in revenue. The success of the tour then carried over to a different medium as she debuted a filmed version of her LA concerts in October 2023, which is now hitting Disney+ as The Eras Tour (Taylor’s Version) .

The Eras Tour originally kicked off on March 17, 2023, so it’s fitting that the Disney+ version of The Eras Tour movie debuted nearly a year later on March 14, 2024. While Taylor Swift is currently on a brief break from touring after finishing her Singapore dates on March 9, the singer isn’t slowing down during this time. In addition to the release of The Eras Tour movie on Disney+ , Swift is set to debut her next album, The Tortured Poets Department , on April 19 . After the album’s debut, Swift will be back on the road performing around the world for The Eras Tour in no time.

Taylor Swift's The Eras Tour Resumes On May 9, 2024

Taylor Swift is only taking a two-month break from performing for her world tour, as The Eras Tour picks back up on May 9, 2024 in Paris, France . Once The Eras Tour resumes in May, Swift will be touring almost non-stop until the beginning of December 2024, which will mark the end of the 18-month-long concert series. With The Eras Tour being the first time Swift has embarked on a tour since 2018’s Reputation Tour, it’s no surprise that the demand for her 2023-2024 concert series has been so high.

Once The Eras Tour resumes in May, Swift will be touring almost non-stop until the beginning of December 2024, which will mark the end of the 18-month-long concert series.

There Are 69 Concert Dates Left In The Eras Tour In 2024

Out of over 150 total concerts in The Eras Tour (after several extensions), Taylor Swift still has 69 concert dates still remaining before taking her final bow of the tour. Throughout 2024, Swift will be traveling across Europe before returning to North America for the last leg of The Eras Tour. The artist will be supported by Paramore as her opening act in Europe, with Gracie Abrams taking over as her opener in the United States and Canada starting October 18. Unless another extension or potential delay is announced, Taylor Swift’s final performance of The Eras Tour is scheduled for December 8, 2024 in Vancouver, BC, Canada.

Taylor Swift’s New Announcement Makes Watching The Eras Tour On Disney+ Completely Different From Theaters

Will taylor swift have another concert tour for the tortured poets department.

So far, Taylor Swift has not announced whether she will embark on a separate tour to support the release of her upcoming album The Tortured Poets Department . Since Taylor Swift's 11th album is set to debut while The Eras Tour is still ongoing, it’s unclear whether her remaining 2024 concerts will integrate songs from The Tortured Poets Department into the setlist. If she ends up having a tour dedicated solely to the new album, then there’s always the potential for Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour movie to be followed-up on Disney+ by a special film for The Tortured Poets Department .

Will Taylor Swift’s ‘Eras Tour’ Setlist Change After ‘The Tortured Poets Department’ Release?

Will Taylor Swift s Eras Tour Setlist Change After The Tortured Poets Department Release 001

Taylor Swift ’s The Tortured Poets Department has already captivated the world , leaving her fans to wonder whether any of the new songs will pop up on her Eras Tour setlist.

Swift, 34, kicked off her three-hour concert series in March 2023 in Arizona, soon traversing the United States, Central and South America, Asia and Australia. The shows highlight most of her past albums: Taylor Swift, Fearless, Speak Now, Red, 1989, Reputation, Folklore, Evermore and Midnights . There also is a section dedicated to “surprise songs,” where Swift adds two new acoustic renditions (most recently, mash-ups) to the show.

Swift has been on hiatus since early March, weeks before The Tortured Poets Department dropped on Friday, April 19. The record, her 11th studio album, features 31 songs including “Fortnight,” “So Long, London,” “Fresh Out the Slammer,” “So High School” and “thanK you aIMee.”

Swift’s fans planning to see Eras later this year — the tour leg kicks off in Paris on Thursday, May 9 — have since taken to social media, curious if they will be able to hear any TTPD live.

“OK listen I NEED Taylor to add ‘I Can Do It With a Broken Heart’ to the Eras Tour setlist. … Just that ONE. … PLEASE. … It was MADE for the Eras Tour !!!!!!!!!!” a social media user wrote via X.

Another added, “I am so obsessed with Taylor’s new album idk how to survive the Eras Tour (if I actually go twice I might just drop dead afterwards).”

Will Taylor Swift s Eras Tour Setlist Change After The Tortured Poets Department Release 002

Since Eras has sections dedicated to Swift’s previous albums , it is possible that TTPD could get its own mini-set in the lineup. Not all of her preexisting cohorts feature the same amount of songs, so Swift could cut some songs in order to add a time for Tortured Poets additions .

Spotify added further fuel to the fire on Friday as Swifties noticed the streaming platform’s official video for “I Can Do It With a Broken Heart,” a TTPD track, features footage solely from the Eras Tour.

Swift’s musical director David Cook , who has also been featured on several of her past LPs, also hinted that TTPD songs could make an appearance on the tour lineup.

“Not sure how much I can add to the discourse other than this album is really REALLY good. You FEEL it,” Cook wrote via Instagram on Friday, quoting “Loml” with a mind-blown emoji.

According to eagle-eyed Swifties that captured screenshots, Cook also wrote, “Wait until you hear the live versions.” The addition, however, has since been deleted.

Of course, it is also possible that Swift will drop a TTPD single in her surprise song section.

“How will The Tortured Poets Department affect the Eras Tour ? Hopefully only on surprise songs (in a good way),” an X user theorized.

While Swift has yet to address if TTPD will affect her Eras Tour setlist, she’s given fans insight into how she picks song s for the acoustic section.

“This has become my favorite part of the show because it’s become very chaotic and it’s become a challenge for me to think of new things to do for every single city,” Swift told the crowd in Singapore in March. “And hope that I’m doing something that you guys might like. It’s been a blast!”

Per the Grammy winner, she “invented [her] crazy acoustic section,” to be able to play “as many songs” as she could way over the 44 staples at each show. Adding TTPD tracks there seems like an easy way to do just that, if you ask Us.

The Tortured Poets Department is out now and Swift’s Eras Tour resumes on Thursday, May 9.

What’s Coming in the 2025 ERAS® Season; Program Signaling and Interview Invitations; Specialty Opt-In Reminder

Updates from eras leadership.

Dear Colleagues,

As we look forward to Match Week and the 2024 residency recruitment year winds down, planning is underway for the 2025 ERAS ® recruitment season. We recently hosted a webinar featuring 2025 updates. Here are five things you can look forward to in the ERAS system for the next season:

  • Hobbies and interests will be a standalone item in the MyERAS ® application. We heard you! Program directors, faculty interviewers, residency, and fellowship applicants asked us to make this a separate item within the Experiences section of the application, and they’ll find it there for the 2025 ERAS season.
  • Consolidated interview scheduling with Thalamus Core. Our collaboration with Thalamus is in full swing and we can’t wait to give those programs that are not yet using Thalamus products the chance to use Core and Itinerary Wizard to seamlessly manage interview planning and scheduling.
  • Dean’s Office WorkStation (DWS) Analytics will make it easier for advisors to access their students’ interview data. We updated the Interview Dashboard to give you access to more historical student interview data and to make it easier to get important student and program-level interview status information.
  • Program signaling will be available for December cycle ERAS fellowship applicants. As we noted in last month’s edition of ERAS Insights , December cycle specialties will be able to participate in program signaling later this year for the 2024-2025 application season. Specialties and programs that participate in the July fellowship cycle can participate in the 2025-2026 application season, which will launch in July 2025.
  • Real-time data analytics will be delivered via Cerebellum. Providing institutions and programs with rich, relevant data is a key ERAS focus area.

Fellowship specialty societies will complete the participation agreement and provide the number of signals in August 2024 , more details will be shared in the coming weeks.

Taylor Swift and Matty Healy's Relationship Timeline

Swift and Healy dated for a few months in 2023, which she recounts on 'The Tortured Poets Department' album

eras tour dates march 2024

Taylor Swift and Matty Healy 's short-lived relationship sparked a lot of conversation.

The musicians initially met in the fall of 2014 but didn't date until years later.

Shortly after The 1975 frontman was spotted attending Swift's Eras Tour in Nashville in May 2023, the two were photographed holding hands at New York City's Casa Cipriani, where they were out with mutual friend and collaborator Jack Antonoff .

Their relationship came just a month after PEOPLE confirmed Swift's split from longtime boyfriend Joe Alwyn , which a source told PEOPLE was a result of "differences in their personalities ."

Following their whirlwind romance, PEOPLE confirmed the "Karma" singer and 1975 frontman broke up in June, noting their relationship was "always casual."

Most recently, Swift recounted the highs and lows of their relationship on The Tortured Poets Department album.

From the beginnings of their friendship to their short-lived romance, here's a timeline of Swift and Healy's relationship through the years.

November 19, 2014: Taylor Swift and Matty Healy first meet

Swift reportedly first met Healy when she attended a 1975 concert in Los Angeles along with pals Selena Gomez and Ellie Goulding . Swift later shared photos and a video from the concert on Nov. 21, captioning the since-deleted post with lyrics from the band's song "The City": "Yeah you wanna find love, Then you know where the city is."

November 22, 2014: Taylor Swift wears The 1975 merch

A few days after the 1975 concert, Swift was photographed wearing the band's merch during an outing in Los Angeles ahead of her performance at the American Music Awards. Earlier that month, Healy had also rocked a shirt featuring Swift's 1989 album cover on stage, further prompting speculation about their relationship.

November 29, 2014: Matty Healy says he would date Taylor Swift

Following Swift's appearance at the 1975 concert, Healy was asked about the singer during a radio interview with Shazam Top 20, during which he revealed that they exchanged numbers at the Los Angeles show.

When the DJ inquired about them possibly dating, Healy replied, "Let's just see what happens," per E! News . He added, "I mean bloody hell, what am I going to do? Go out with Taylor Swift ? She's a sensation, I wouldn't say no."

Earlier that October, Swift had maintained that she was happily single during an interview with E! News. "It's not that [I've sworn off dating] as much as I'm just very protective of my happiness," Swift told the publication. "I found a place in my life that feels really great and I'm not willing to compromise that for just anyone, and so, you can paraphrase that all you want into something very extreme, but they make what I say extreme no matter what I say."

She added, "So I'm really happy about the fact that being single doesn't feel like being alone. I have love in my life, I just don't have a relationship, and that feels really natural right now."

December 4, 2014: Taylor Swift attends another The 1975 concert with Karlie Kloss

In early December, just a few days before her 25th birthday, Swift attended another 1975 concert in N.Y.C. alongside Karlie Kloss and Lily Aldridge. Following Healy's comments about Swift, the outing sparked even more rumors that the pair were an item .

January 20, 2015: Matty Healy shuts down Taylor Swift dating rumors

A month later, Healy publicly shut down rumors he was dating Swift during a radio interview with Australia's 2DayFM. "It's fake," he said, per E! News . "It's all bloody fake. It's a farce!"

"We met each other, we exchanged numbers in the same way that a lot of people in this kind of world do, and we spoke occasionally," he continued. "She's the biggest pop star in the world and I'm in Australia. There's no relationship or anything happening. It's just funny how people really, really buy into that."

March 2016: Matty Healy clarifies Taylor Swift comments

Speaking with Q magazine, Healy opened up about his rumored romance with Swift, calling the connection a "flirtation."

"I don't do anything else [besides music], right, so it doesn't leave a lot of room for me going out, or shagging someone," he told the publication, per NME . "So the one time I did have a flirtation with a girl it ends up going everywhere…. I mean, I got on E! News and people were like, 'Who's Matt Healy?' so that was cool."

He continued, "If I had gone out with Taylor Swift I would've been, 'F---ing hell! I am NOT being Taylor Swift 's boyfriend.' You know, 'F---. THAT.' That's also a man thing, a de-masculinating, emasculating thing."

Shortly after the interview was published, Healy wrote an open letter saying that his comments were being taken out of context. He also detailed how dating rumors between him and Swift quickly escalated in the media.

"Since she came to my show in December of 2014, I would say that 90 percent of journalists that have interviewed me have asked about either her as a person or what our 'interaction' was like," he wrote, per Elle . "I have said on countless occasions that I found her to be one of the most gracious, hard working, creatively gifted, and beautiful women that I have had the pleasure to meet. I personally have a lot of respect and admiration for her. Why would I not?"

He continued, "I didn't even date Taylor, but the media's incessant and brutal obsession with her has meant that even a guy who DIDN'T DATE HER has been so battered by their never-ending questions that he's inevitably said something that can be lifted and molded into something that resembles 'shade'. It's really sad."

"They've had rough patches before and always worked things out, so friends thought they would take some time apart but eventually come back together," the source said, noting that "ultimately" Swift and Alwyn "weren't the right fit for one another."

The source added that Swift's superstardom was another factor in the split: "Joe has struggled with Taylor's level of fame and the attention from the public."

July 2023: Taylor Swift and Matty Healy reconciliation rumor gets shut down

Just a month after their split, it was reported that the two were back together. However, a source quickly shut down that rumor to PEOPLE . "She is enjoying being single and has been spending time in the studio and hanging out with friends in New York City. This is all B.S."

April 19, 2024: Taylor Swift sings about Matty Healy on The Tortured Poets Department album

In addition to recounting how her six-year relationship with Alwyn came to an end, Swift also details her short-lived romance with Healy in the spring of 2023. On “Guilty as Sin?” Swift sings about having strong romantic feelings for someone from her past while in a relationship with someone else, seemingly noting that she was already crushing on Healy before her relationship with Alwyn officially ended.

Then on “Fresh Out the Slammer,” Swift sings about feeling ready and able to dive into a new romance after exiting a different relationship that was holding her back. The song also hints that her new love is not American, as she sings that she’s returning “to the one who says I’m the girl of his American dreams.” (Both Healy and  Alwyn are English .)

She also appears to address the intense criticism that surrounded their relationship with the track “I Can Fix Him (No Really I Can)” (on which she convinces herself that she can change her man's ways in spite of the world thinking he's bad news).

On “loml,” Swift reveals the relationship was not meant to last as sings about rekindling an old flame, only to see the relationship crash and burn.

“It was legendary / It was momentary / It was unnecessary / Should’ve let it stay buried,” she sings. “Oh what a valiant roar / What a bland goodbye / The coward claimed he was a lion / I’m combing through the braids of lies / ‘I’ll never leave’ / ‘Nevermind.’”

Halifax has become the latest major lender to up mortgage rates.

They are putting up a range of deals by 0.2%.

BM Solutions also announced increases today.

It follows similar moves by TSB, NatWest, Virgin, Barclays, Accord, Leeds Building Society, HSBC and Coventry last week.

Lenders are responding to swap rates - which dictate how much it costs to lend money - rising on the back of higher than expected US inflation data, and concerns this could delay interest rate cuts there.

US trends often materialise elsewhere - though many economists are still expecting a base rate cut from 5.25% to 5% in the UK in June.

This is what average mortgage rates look like as of today...

Justin Moy, managing director of EHF Mortgages, told Newspage: "Yet more bad news for mortgage borrowers, as two of the biggest lenders announce increases to their fixed-rate products.

"As mortgage rates creep up and past 5% even for those with the largest deposits, we seem to be lacking a clear strategy of the government or the Bank of England on how rates will eventually fall.

"Even 2% inflation may not be enough to reverse the recent trends in rates."

Morrisons has launched two major changes for shoppers – with stores now offering travel money and trolleys featuring advertisements.

Announcing their bureau de change service, Morrisons said customers could exchange currencies in select stores or could place their money orders online at Morrisonstravelmoney.com.

Using the online service means customers can either click and collect their cash in certain Morrisons stores or at any of Eurochange's 240 branches. Alternatively, they can go for home delivery.

Services director at Morrisons, Jamie Winter, said the service "will provide our customers with easy access to a wide range of currencies at competitive exchange rates".

So far, stores in the following areas have travel money kiosks:

  • Basingstoke

In other news, the supermarket chain rolled out a new trolley advertising across 300 stores in a partnership with Retail Media Group.

A sweetener used in drinks, sauces, savoury and sweet foods and chewing gum can cause serious damage to people's health, according to a new study.

Neotame, a "relatively new" sweetener, could damage the intestine by causing damage to healthy bacteria in the gut, according to the study, leading it to become diseased and attack the gut wall.

The study by Anglia Ruskin University (ARU), published in the journal Frontiers in Nutrition, found the negative effect of neotame "has the potential to influence a range of gut functions resulting in poor gut health", potentially impacting metabolic and inflammatory diseases, neuropathic pain, and neurological conditions.

The illnesses this could lead to include irritable bowel disease or insulin resistance.

As we reported yesterday, a pilot programme is coming into force in Venice today that means visitors have to pay a €5 (£4.28) charge to enter the city.

Authorities say the pilot programme is designed to discourage tourists and thin the crowds that throng the canals during peak holiday season, making the city more liveable for residents.

Pictures have been emerging this morning of people queueing to register for a QR code that will allow them to enter after they have paid the charge - and officials carrying out checks on people inside the city.

People found to be contravening the rules can be fined up to €300 (£257).

As detailed in our story , the move has been met with anger among some in the city.

Venice is the first city in the world to introduce a payment system for tourists - but comments from its most senior tourist official suggested it may become a more common practice for major tourist hotspots in Europe.

Simone Venturini revealed the pilot programme was being closely watched by other places suffering from mass tourism - including other Italian art cities and hugely popular weekend-break destinations Barcelona and Amsterdam.

More than 160,000 people switched to Nationwide from other providers at the end of 2023, when the building society was offering a huge cash switching incentive.

According to figures from the Current Account Switch Service (CASS), Nationwide had a net gain of 163,363 account switchers between October and December, after leavers were taken into account.

It was the highest quarterly gain since the same period in 2022, when 111,941 switched to Nationwide.

The building society launched a £200 switching bonus for new joiners in September last year - the biggest giveaway on offer at the time. It withdrew the offer just before Christmas.

The latest CASS figures, which show Nationwide had 196,260 total gains before accounting for leavers, suggesting it could have spent up to £39m on nabbing customers from other providers in the last three months of the year.

Barclays and Lloyds Bank saw more modest net gains of 12,823 and 5,800 respectively, while the rest of the UK's big banks reported net losses.

NatWest and Halifax fared worst, losing over 40,000 more switchers each than they gained.

This week saw the last remaining switching offer on the market withdrawn.

Sainsbury's is having technical issues again - with shoppers taking to social media to say their deliveries have been delayed or cancelled.

The supermarket has been replying to customers saying: "I'm really sorry about the tech issues this morning.

"We're aware of the situation and are working to sort it as quickly as possible. In the meantime, we'd advise you place a new order for a future date."

Customer Andrew Savage wrote: "Order has not been delivered and no confirmation email this morning."

Another, John B Sheffield, said: "So angry! Just got through to your customer line after 40 min WAIT.

"Tells me NO DELIVERIES TODAY! tech problem? I've NO FOOD IN! ANGRY!"

In a statement to Sky News, a Sainsbury's spokesperson says: "A small technical issue affected some groceries online orders this morning.

"We have contacted these customers directly to apologise for the inconvenience."

In another update at 10am, the supermarket said that the issue has been resolved.

Responding to customers on X, Sainsbury's also offered those affected e-vouchers and details on how to rebook their orders.

It comes a month after the supermarket had to cancel almost all deliveries on a Saturday in mid-March due to another technical issue.

A potential $38.8bn (£31bn) takeover of UK-based mining company  Anglo American  has sent its shares soaring - and helped the FTSE 100 hit yet another record high this morning.

The attempted mega-merger, by larger Australian rival BHP, is currently being reviewed by Anglo American's board.

The deal, if it goes through, would create the world's biggest copper mining company - and comes as the price of the metal continues to climb amid soaring demand.

Anglo American's shares have surged as high as 13% this morning as news of the negotiations emerged.

The announcement also helped spur the FTSE 100 to a new intraday (during the day) high of 8,098 points.

The index, of the London Stock Exchange's 100 most valuable companies, has hit a string of records this week, including  an all-time closing high of 8,044 points  on Tuesday.

The score is based on a calculation of the total value of the shares on the index.

Also moving the markets are a string of company results which were published earlier on Thursday.

Among those issuing updates to investors was drugsmaker AstraZeneca. Its stock is up more than 5% after the firm reported quarterly profit and revenue above market estimates.

Unilever is also up 5% following similar better-than-expected quarterly figures.

Another good performer is  Barclays  - despite reporting a 12% fall in profits for the first three months of 2024. Its shares are up more than 4%.

That's because its quarterly figures are slightly better than expected, and the bank has said it expects its fortunes to improve later this year.

Meanwhile, as tensions in the Middle East continue, the price of a barrel of Brent crude oil continues to hover at a price of around $88 (£70).

This morning £1 buys $1.25 US or €1.16, similar to yesterday.

Every week we get experts to answer your Money Problems - usually on a Monday, but today we have a short, bonus addition in light of multiple lenders raising mortgage rates this week on fears an interest rate cut could be delayed to a little later this year (note: many economists still think it will come in summer).

A few readers have got in touch with questions similar to this one...

My remortgage is due to complete on 1 May. I already have an offer but with rates going up, is there any way at all my offer rate could increase? Saz681

We asked David Hollingworth, director at L&C Mortgages, to answer this one...

It's great news that you are already set up with a mortgage offer, Saz - ready to make a smooth switch to a new deal and/or lender, once the current one ends.

It does take time to set up a new mortgage so shopping around the market a good few months ahead will help you put everything in place and avoid slipping onto a high variable rate.

Fixed rates have been nudging up slightly but you have already got a formal offer in place so shouldn't worry.

Applying for a mortgage will generally secure that rate and the lender will then carry out any further checks to issue the mortgage offer.

The offer will be valid for a specified period, often for up to six months. Rates are always shifting for new customers but you can rest easy that your rate should be safe and sound for your switch in May.

Interest in a phenomenon known as "dark tourism" has been steadily rising in recent years - but what is it?

To find out, we've spoken with tourism academic  Dr Hayley Stainton  and renowned dark tourist and author Dr Peter Hohenhaus, who runs a  dark tourism website .

What is it?

In general, dark tourism involves travelling to sites connected to death or disaster.

"Dark tourism has been around for as long as we have been travelling to places associated with death," Dr Stainton says.

However, the term wasn't officially coined until 1996 by John Lennon, a professor of tourism at Glasgow Caledonian University, in Scotland.

"Not everyone is familiar with the term," says Dr Stainton, "[but] many people have been a dark tourist at some time or another, whether intentional or not."

Some examples of the most famous sites

  • Auschwitz concentration camp, Poland
  • 9/11 Memorial and Museum in New York, US
  • Chernobyl, Ukraine
  • Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Japan
  • Choeung Ek "killing fields" and the Tuol Sleng genocide museum at the former S-21 prison in Phnom Penh, Cambodia

Areas with a degree of infamy, like Alcatraz, are extremely popular spots that also fall under the "dark tourism" umbrella.

How popular is it?

Dr Hohenhaus and Dr Stainton say they have noticed a rise in its popularity.

"Tourists are looking for more unique and unusual experiences," Dr Stainton says.

"This has seen a move away from the more traditional 'sun, sea and sand' type holidays to a variety of different tourism forms, which includes dark tourism."

Dr Hohenhaus adds: "Maybe people want to connect to more recent and hence more personally relevant history - that is definitely the case with myself."

He goes on: "I think I've learned more about the world through dark tourism than through all of my formal education or my previous academic career."

Is it ethical?

This is the big question associated with dark tourism.

Dr Stainton says that while problems do arise, the stigma around the practice is often misguided.

"People don't visit sites like the killing fields in Cambodia or the site of Chernobyl for 'fun' - they visit for the educational experience, as dark tourism is often also a form of educational tourism," she says.

Problems arise when tourists are not respectful to those who may have been impacted.

"For instance, taking inappropriate photos or laughing and joking when others may be in a state of mourning."

Notorious examples include people taking selfies outside Grenfell Tower and at Auschwitz.

"It is therefore imperative that dark tourists are considerate of those around them and respectful at all times," Dr Stainton says.

"As long as you are not just after a cheap sensationalist thrill - take dark tourism seriously and do it right, and it can be an immensely enriching thing to engage in."  Dr Hohenhaus

Where could you go?

These are Dr Hohenhaus' recommendations:

  • Ijen crater in Indonesia - where at night you can see the fabled blue flames of the sulphur mines next to the volcano crater lake;
  • The Polygon, the former Semipalatinsk nuclear weapons test site of the USSR, now in Kazakhstan;
  • The Goli Otok former prison island off the coast of Croatia;
  • The Murambi memorial to the Rwandan genocide - which Dr Hohenhaus says is "certainly the very darkest place I have ever been";
  • Majdanek concentration camp memorial near Lublin, eastern Poland.

What do you think of dark tourism? Is it misunderstood, educational or abhorrent?  Let us know in the comments section...

John Lewis will be sharing its job interview questions online in an attempt to find the "best talent".

The retail chain hopes that allowing candidates to view questions before an interview will allow prospective employees to "really demonstrate what they can do" and prepare, the Financial Times reports.

John Lewis talent acquisition lead Lorna Bullett told Sky News that interviews can feel daunting and "nerves can seriously impact performance".

She added the company want "the right people" from a variety of backgrounds and with "the best talent" to join.

"It makes absolute business sense to find ways of helping candidates to really demonstrate what they can do," she said.

Ms Bullett added that the process will be "no less rigorous".

Scottie Scheffler Could Have Relaxed at the RBC Heritage. Instead He Dominated, Again.

No one expects a major winner to keep it rolling the very next week, but the world No. 1 is continuing to excel in ways not seen since Tiger Woods's era of dominance.

  • Author: Bob Harig

Scottie Scheffler had every reason to cruise through a week at Hilton Head. He was coming off an exhausting and emotional victory at the Masters , from where he rushed home to Texas to spend time with his expecting wife before jetting back to South Carolina, only to get in nine holes of practice in the Wednesday pro-am.

If Scheffler was exhausted and didn’t want to put forth all the energy needed to contend again, so be it. Nobody would be surprised. Nobody would certainly hold it against him.

Dealing with the aftermath of a major victory allows for one to, perhaps, revel in the accomplishment.

There’s a reason why nobody had won a tournament the week after the Masters since Bernhard Langer nearly 40 years ago. And there’s a reason nobody had won the week after winning any major since Tiger Woods in 2007.

Winning takes its toll. And winning a major even more so. The physical strain of Augusta National is enough. The mental strain of any major championship is but an added aspect.

All of which makes Scheffler’s victory at the RBC Heritage all the more impressive.

Scottie Scheffler acknowledges fans as he prepares to hit at the 2024 RBC Heritage.

Scottie Scheffler's incredible 2024 continued with a Monday win at the RBC Heritage.

Aaron Doster-USA TODAY Sports

The only thing he couldn’t beat was the weather.

A storm blew in Sunday afternoon, but when it did, Scheffler had a five-shot lead. The three holes he had to finish Monday morning were but a formality.

MORE: Final results, payouts from the RBC Heritage

We know he’s been dominating the game from a statistical standpoint for the better part of two years. We know that in 2023 his adjusted scoring average was at historical lows, rivaling some of the best ever put up by Woods. And we also know the winning could have been all that much more had he had a cooperative putter.

But ever since Rory McIlroy suggested that Scheffler might consider trying a mallet putter—the idea of change was in the works already—the No. 1-ranked player according to the Official World Golf Ranking has been defeated by exactly one player.

And that player—Stephan Jaeger at the Houston Open—needed a Scheffler miss from 5 feet on the final hole to hold onto a one-shot victory.

Sandwiched around the near-miss for Scheffler were victories at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, the Players Championship, the Masters and now the RBC. That’s two signature events, the PGA Tour’s flagship tournament and a major.

In each tournament, there were eight of the top 10 players in the OWGR competing.

“I think when I'm playing my best, sometimes it feels like I'm competing against myself a little bit out there, trying to keep pushing and stay as focused as I can,” Scheffler said. “I felt like the back nine Sunday last week (at the Masters) was an example of that where I was just trying to keep pushing forward, pushing forward because the golf course is so challenging, anything can happen, and I wanted to build myself up a cushion.

“By the time we got to 18 I wanted to finish off the tournament the right way. At the end of the day, we're out here competing against the best players in the world. I love competing against these guys.”

Right now, the feeling is probably not mutual.

Scheffler is making it tough on every one else, much in the same way Woods did some 20 years ago. While Scheffler might not have piled up the major championships that way Woods did in the early 2000s, he’s been on a statistical level that is similar.

One excellent example: This year, his strokes-gained tee-to-green statistics help tell a story: Sentry (ranked No. 1), WM Phoenix (1), Genesis (2), Arnold Palmer (1), Players (1), Houston (3), Masters (1), RBC Heritage (1).

Throw in a short game that has been stellar and putting that is far better than at any time last year and you’ve got the kind of run on the PGA Tour not seen in a good while. Jon Rahm won four tournaments last year through the Masters but did not win again. Scheffler has four wins at this point and winning more simply seems inevitable.

“It's always fun to watch him play,” said Sepp Straka, who played with Scheffler in the last two rounds. “It's incredible what he's doing right now.”

Jordan Spieth’s aggravating wrist injury

If you want some clues into the up-and-down season that Jordan Spieth is having, perhaps it is as simple as the issue he’s been having with his left wrist that dates to last year and kept him out of the PGA Championship at Oak Hill in Rochester, N.Y.

Spieth had a recurrence of the problem on Thursday at the RBC Heritage, and it was bad enough that it nearly caused him to withdraw. A tendon in his left wrist popped out while hitting a greenside bunker shot on the 13th hole, and Spieth told PGATour.com that it led to the problem with his ECU (extensor carp ulnaris).

Jordan Spieth plays his shot from the 16th tee at the 2024 RBC Heritage.

Jordan Spieth was T39 at the RBC Heritage while dealing with a recurring wrist injury.

“It’s a thing that’s recurring,” Spieth told the Tour’s website following the second round. “I was lucky because most times it comes out, and I can’t turn it (left), and so I would have been screwed It’s the ECU tendon. It came out and came right back in its groove.

“On 14 (Thursday), I thought I was done for the week. Then (the tendon) came back in and I was like, “alright, I’m good.”

The ulnar nerve injury that kept him out of the PGA Championship recurred last fall and again during the Valero Texas Open, where he tied for 10th the week prior to the Masters.

Spieth managed to finish the round Thursday at 1-under-par 70 and then shot 67 on Friday after having the wrist taped. A final-round 72 meant a tie for 39th.

He didn’t seem to be concerned about the wrist going forward, as it’s something he’s been dealing with for some time.

“I know what the issue is, I’m not giving it any time to heal right now,” Spieth said.

A three-time major champion, Spieth, 30, has 13 PGA Tour victories but has now gone two years since his last win at the RBC Heritage. He’s been particularly frustrated recently as he missed the cut at the Players Championship, the Valspar Championship and the Masters.

So far this year, Spieth has two top-six finishes,  but he’s also finished outside the top 30 on three occasions, missed three cuts and been disqualified from another event (Genesis) for signing an incorrect scorecard.

Golf and gambling

Golf, like most major sports, has embraced gambling. While once shunned and dismissed, it is now a big part of the landscape. While PGA Tour players are strictly prohibited from gambling on themselves, other players or on the sport at all, the Tour has partnered with bet365, BETMGM and betPARX, all of which are “Official Betting Operators of the PGA Tour.”

All of this made sense. When the U.S. Supreme Court in 2018 struck down a federal law that prohibited gambling and states began legalizing it, the Tour was smart to not sit on the sideline.

But there was always the fear of some unsavory behavior. In golf, it has mostly centered around the idea that upset gambling spectators could impact the competition, either by taunting players up close or even trying to disrupt them as a way to enhance their own wagering.

Last week’s issues in the NBA brought to light another potential pitfall, even if seems unlikely a player could be so foolish.

The NBA permanently banned Toronto Raptors forward Jontay Porter for “disclosing confidential information to sports betters, limiting his own participation in one or more games for betting purposes and betting on NBA games.” Porter apparently bet on himself or told friends and associates that he would assure that he went under the various prop bets for points, rebounds and assists in a game. The NBA made specific reference to a March 20 game in which he played only three minutes. A betting outlet saw that someone had placed $80,000 on Porter not hitting point and rebound totals, and that set off alarms—which is a good thing. The bet would have won the gambler $1.1 million. The league then investigated. It discovered that he had bet on himself and other games.

This sort of thing was inevitable. And you could see how a lower-level player might be tempted, even if the lower salaries are still immense enough to keep someone from taking such a ridiculous risk.

Could this happen in golf? Sure. What’s to keep some player from tanking on an individual matchup in some obscure group? Or betting the over/under a particular score? The problem, of course, is large sums bet should trigger some sort of concern at the betting places. And it’s one of the reasons why having it legalized and monitored can actually help.

But the NBA just offered up a reminder of what is possible. A lower level player might get away with it for some time, which is always among a sports league’s biggest fears: the legitimacy of the competition.

LIV Golf’s big week down under ... and other notes

You will likely hear plenty about the LIV Golf Adelaide event this week. It was the LIV Golf League’s biggest tournament of 2023 and promises to be more so this year, as the Grange Golf Club expanded capacity. The buzz and atmosphere that LIV has attempted to create with its “Golf But Louder” mantra has worked here better than anywhere. One reason is the relative dearth of high-end players that play in Australia on an annual basis. Golf fans lamented the PGA Tour wraparound schedule that deprived them of the stars going to the biggest tournaments in the Australian summer, including the Australian Open and the Australia PGA. A bigger issue is the lack of sponsorship money to attract them. Purses for the Australian events are far below what the PGA Tour pays and closer to Korn Ferry Tour levels. For example, the Australian Open won by Joaquin Niemann in November was $1.8 million Australian—or approximately $1.1 million US. That’s well below what a winner typically gets on the PGA Tour. With LIV Golf, that is not an issue. The purse is like all the other LIV events—$25 million overall with $20 million for the individual portion. And $4 million to the winner. Talor Gooch won the first of his three LIV titles last year, and the all-Aussie team led by captain Cam Smith is a huge draw. The time change will allow for a 9:45 p.m ET start on Thursday (Friday morning at 11:15 a.m. in Adelaide) and the chance to watch via LIV’s streaming methods. (The event will be on tape delay during the usual 1 p.m. ET window on the CW Network on Saturday and Sunday).
