Well of course you know number one has to be the BEACH. Whether you are staying at one of the condos or hotels on the beach or like me, you lived nearby, you can never get tired of the view.

Walking through the dunes with sea oats and you glimpse it. The beautiful beach. My sister and I were walking the beach one day when we noticed a shell sticking out of the sand.

We dug around it and eventually pulled out one huge conch shell. So keep your eyes open if like me, you’re a shell collector.

You will also find convenient beachfront amenities, including beach chairs, umbrellas, and water sports rentals, you’ll have everything you need for a day of pure relaxation.

Need a bike? There’s a place for that too. My kids loved the 4-wheel buggies and would spend hours riding up and down the broadwalk.

Travel Guides

Get to know hollywood, florida, conveniently located between fort lauderdale and miami beach, hollywood offers all the sun and sand of the sunshine state, along with a diverse array of activities.  .

By Jenny Lee Allen

Feeling restless one Saturday and wanting to take advantage of the sun-filled sky, I headed south an hour to one of my favorite seaside cities.

Hollywood is an eclectic East Coast destination where you can kick back at the beach by day and live it up at a trendy bistro by night. I didn't have a plan, but I figured I'd hit the oceanfront Broadwalk before hopping a trolley to explore downtown's boutiques and restaurants.

Located off Interstate 95 between Fort Lauderdale and Miami Beach, Hollywood is an easy in-state getaway. If you haven't visited the town, take a weekend to introduce yourself. If you have, take a few days to see what's new.

Beach Lovers, Nature Buffs

I'm a Florida girl, so the beach had to be my starting point. Like a scene from a postcard, Hollywood Beach's turquoise waves lapped onto the shore. Children built sandcastles. A couple napped under a cabana.

I laced up my rollerblades and set off on the Hollywood Beach Broadwalk, a 2.5-mile oceanfront path that's lined with shops, bars and restaurants. You can rent bikes or surreys at the Bike Shack, or simply stroll the brick-lined promenade.

After browsing the souvenir shops ( Dolphin Jewelers seemed to be a hotspot for sea-themed accessories), I cooled off with an ice cream cone.

Down the path at Charnow Park, a recreational oasis right off the Broadwalk, I found a picnic pavilion, performance pavilion, interactive fountain, paddleball courts and other kid-friendly features. For a bigger dose of nature, visit the Anne Kolb Nature Center,  where you can hike trails, and  West Lake Park Recreation Area , where you can rent kayaks or canoes, both at West Lake Park.

Intracoastal Appeal

Back on the Broadwalk, I stowed my blades and headed for Le Tub Saloon, a cozy, seat-yourself kind of place on the Intracoastal Waterway with world-famous hamburgers. Toby Keith's "I Love This Bar" played on the jukebox as I shot – and lost – a game of pool.

There's plenty to do up and down the Intracoastal. Board a fishing charter or visit AiZia at The Westin Diplomat Resort & Spa , a waterfront bar where you can sip mojitos and watch mega yachts dock. Another popular hangout is the upscale Elements Bistro, which serves contemporary fusion creations with a Caribbean flair. Sit outside for the best Intracoastal views.

Downtown Vibe

My next stop was the vibrant downtown district, just minutes from the beach. Historic Downtown Hollywood is a hip place to spend an afternoon, and it's a Wi-Fi hotspot to boot. I strolled through the ArtsPark at Young Circle, a 10-acre park with a playground and visual arts pavilion displaying modern works.

I let the sidewalk lead me to art galleries, boutiques and restaurants. I sat at the granite-topped bar and sipped a glass of chardonnay at Hollywood Vine (check out their free tastings on Tuesdays). Nearby, Inedit Spanish Cuisine & Tapas Lounge and PRL Euro Café are other favorites.

At night, catch a live performance at the Hollywood Central Performing Arts Center. Or check out two of the area's nightlife and entertainment staples: Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino and Dave & Buster's.

Hollywood Overnights

If you opt to stay overnight, you'll be greeted with accommodations as diverse as the town itself. For true luxury, check out the Westin Diplomat Resort & Spa, a AAA Four Diamond property with ultra-modern flair. The Hollywood Beach Marriott, a boutique-style resort on the Broadwalk, is another upscale option. There are also several small lodgings , known for their solid amenities, affordability and service. Some to check out are  Tide Vacation Apartments and Villa Sinclair Beach Suites & Spa. The latter offers a Welcome Pineapple and a complimentary chocolate on the bed.

It's those kinds of touches that make Hollywood one of my favorite Florida cities.

Most people come to Hollywood for its phenomenal beach – an oasis of soft, sugar-white sand, turquoise water, and towering palms that wave quietly in the breeze. Add to that the incessantly bright blue sky, and you'll see why so many visitors don't make it past this remarkable attraction. Not surprisingly, it's been dubbed one of the best beaches in neighboring Fort Lauderdale .

While you won't find the glitz or glam of its more famous Californian counterpart, this Hollywood beach is a definite crowd pleaser, and it boasts a ton of great opportunities for people-watching.

The beach is home to a lengthy paved boardwalk, which attracts visitors of all types (from bikini-clad rollerbladers to well-dressed dog walkers). It's lined by shops, restaurants, and quaint oceanfront cafés.

Set almost directly between the popular Fort Lauderdale (to its north) and Miami beaches (to its south), this lovely spot is a much quieter, more tranquil place to spend a day at the ocean. Its wide, vast expanse makes it easy to find a place to stretch out, throw a frisbee, or practice yoga on the sand.

The famous Hollywood Beach boardwalk

The immaculate Hollywood Beach Boardwalk stretches nearly 2.5 miles along the town's shore of the same name. A bright blip of bricked walkway, this expansive promenade welcomes exercisers of all sorts. Runners, walkers, stroller pushers, rollerbladers, scooters, and bikers all make their way along this popular tourist attraction and thoroughfare.

Remember when we told you about people-watching at Hollywood Beach? The boardwalk's winding stone wall is the perfect place to sit while you partake in this supremely entertaining pastime. If you catch it at the right time of day, you may even be able to rest in the shade of the neighboring palms.

When feeling peckish, you won't have to wander far. A variety of oceanfront restaurants and cafés line this strip, as do stores and bike and water sports rental companies.

Boardwalk at Anne Kolb Nature Center

The Anne Kolb Nature Center boasts 1,501 acres of protected coastal mangrove wetlands. Within these wetlands lie an impressive array of native plants and animals, some of which are either threatened or endangered. If you're extra quiet while wandering along the wooden walkways, you may be able to spot some of them. In all, the center offers four main trails to explore: South Trail (2.3 miles), Mud Flat Trail (0.3 miles), Fishing Pier Trail (783 feet), and Lake Trail (0.2 miles).

If you'd prefer to see the area by boat, you're in luck! There are five vast boat trails to adventure through and fish in during the center's guided boat tours. On land, a large exhibit hall is home to a saltwater aquarium and plays host to a variety of traveling nature-themed exhibits by local artists.

The Visual Arts Pavilion is another draw, beckoning guests to come in for a look at an artistic demonstration (i.e. glass blowing) or to attend a class (i.e. martial arts).

Yellow Green Farmers Market

There's a lot to love about farmers markets. Scores of fresh fruit and veggies are heaped upon tables; the scent of freshly baked bread wafts through the air; bright flowers burst from pots, begging visitors to take them home. Hollywood's uber-popular Yellow Green Farmers Market takes this love to a whole new level.

The largest market of its kind in South Florida, this weekend event is held within a 100,000-square-foot area and features over 200 booths. So large it can at times seem overwhelming, you're guaranteed to find what you're looking for (be it raw honey, purple cauliflower, or kombucha) at this extensive locale.

More good news: Dogs are welcome here, so bring along your favorite four-legged friend. You'll surely find homemade doggy treats.

Insider's tip: An invigorating yoga class is held at the market every Saturday morning at 8:30.

No wonder it's been dubbed one of the best places to visit in Hollywood.

The resort also boasts pools aplenty! With over 13.5 acres of pool area, guests can choose between a man-made beach section, tropical lagoon-style pool complete with waterfalls, or a massive water feature (we're talking the size of three football fields) that boasts canoeing, SUPing, paddle boating, and other activities. The hotel also offers a massive waterslide and Jacuzzis.

Being a Hard Rock Hotel, you know there'll be music. You also know that music is guaranteed to be good. Mural in downtown Hollywood, FL

With the brightest of blue skies and shimmering sun, Hollywood didn't need extra brightening. Luckily no one told that to the artists in charge of the Downtown Hollywood Mural Project. A spectacular sight, this unique collection of outdoor murals serves to heighten the city's charm.

From giant whales to robots and the requisite pink flamingos, these incredible curated murals are worthy of every visitor's time. Each one is so fantastic, you'll just have to take photos. So, be sure you have enough storage space on your camera roll.

Spread throughout the downtown core, these murals are organized by the Hollywood Community Redevelopment Agency and created by artists from across town, the country, and the globe. Their goal is to "enhance and enrich the existing cultural fabric of our community." They succeed in doing just that.

Anniversary Park

Anniversary Park is set within the heart of Hollywood's historic downtown. A welcome respite from the town's hustle and bustle, this small slice of nature provides big rewards for those looking to unwind. Majestic magnolia and oak trees line the pathways, drooping shade onto those in need of a break from the heat. Visiting this quiet spot is one of the best things to do in Hollywood.

A popular place for local families, the park also offers a small, well-shaded playground. Try your hand at a chess on one of the park's numerous games tables or drop onto one of its benches for an enjoyable breath of fresh air. When your bellies start to rumble, great food can be found at restaurants just steps away.

Address: 123 North 20 th Avenue, Hollywood, Florida

Charnow Park

What better way to keep kids happy than by setting them loose in an oceanfront playground? Charnow Park is a fantastic beachside venue complete with a rock-climbing structure, sprinklers, pavilions, and picnic tables. Right next to these is a paddleball complex boasting six courts. These were established in the 1930s and have recently been refurbished.

The park lies just north of Hollywood Boulevard and is technically part of the Hollywood Beach Boardwalk. It boasts restrooms and an entertainment pavilion, which often hosts musicians playing everything from live jazz to pop classics.

At the edge of the park lies Florio's Restaurant of Hollywood , an Italian staple with some of the tastiest pizza in town.

Mangroves abound in this lovely park, which is best explored by water. Home to about three miles of estuary, West Lake houses several of Florida's most prized creatures including, alligators, iguanas, and herons. The park is connected to the Anne Kolb Nauture Center and boasts a picnic area, tennis courts, and a marina.

Insider's tip: Rent a kayak from the marina to explore the watery pathways through the mangroves. You can also travel along in a canoe or on a paddleboard. The trails are labeled with colors: red, white, and green, to help you keep track of where you're going.

The Marine Environmental Education Center is housed in the historic, two-story Carpenter House at Hollywood North Beach Park . In addition to rehabilitating sick or injured turtles, the Marine Environmental Education Center hosts public feeding times, lectures, hatchling release programs, and other special events to help encourage tourists and locals to do more to aid these beautiful, and endangered, creatures.

A fabulous place to visit with kids in Hollywood, this educational haven uses murals, sculptures, interactive exhibits, and interesting stories to help make learning fun. The center is small, so you won't need to carve out too much time for a visit, but its message is large, and important.

Tucked away at the end of a street in a residential neighborhood lies the beautiful Holland Park. It's much larger than it looks from its inconspicuous entrance and expands along the shores of the Intracoastal Waterway. Walking along the winding trails and wooden boardwalk, it's easy to forget you're in a city. Climb up to the observation deck for a spectacular view.

Then, take a load off on one of the park's many benches, perfectly poised to offer you the most beautiful water views. Keep your eyes peeled for an iguana. You won't have to wait long to spot one, as the park is teeming with these adorable creatures.

Insider's tip: There are multiple boat launches on-site – perfect venues for dropping your kayak or canoe in the water. They're primed for larger crafts as well if you're hoping to head out further afield.

Visit Hollywood Beach (Photos, Info, & Margaritaville)

(I may earn a small commission on the products mentioned in this post.)

Hollywood Beach is a jewel of South Florida. Well-known to locals, it’s often overlooked by tourists who travel long distances to stay in larger cities to the north and south. Take one look at the boardwalk, photos, and Margaritaville and you’ll want to visit!

If you’ve had the chance to visit Hollywood Beach, you surely remember the boardwalk because it’s the best part about the beach and one of the finest in South Florida.

It’s picturesque and perfect for selfies or family memories. If you’re planning a vacation to the warm shores of South Florida, make a point to visit this amazing beach (and take plenty of photos).

Have you heard of Margaritaville? Jimmy Buffet has one of his best locations, smack in the middle of Hollywood Beach. Sip margaritas by the pool, and cool off in the ocean (it’s only 50 meters away).

In addition to its beach, Hollywood, Florida is home to a up and coming downtown area, beautiful views of homes along the intracoastal and great nightlife.

Below I’ll share the best things to do in Hollywood Beach and I’ll share my tips for restaurants, hotels, parking, and weather! Let’s get started.

hollywood beach florida tourism

5 Things To Do In Hollywood Beach

#1 walk on the beach.

If you’re taking a trip to Hollywood Beach, you will surely spend a lot of time on the sand. There are few activities more enjoyable than a leisurely stroll on the beach.

The beach is wide and there is deep sand (for a good workout) further from the ocean while the sand is more compacted with a steeper slope to the ocean near the water.

>>read my Must-Have Beach Gear article

If you love people watching, weekends are a great time to enjoy natures beauty. The beach becomes crowded in the areas in front of the boardwalk, however, if you walk past (either side) of the boardwalk area, you’ll find more space along the sand.

Weekday mornings are a prime time to visit the beach with very few people. This is my favorite time to walk on the beach before the crowds arrive.

#2 Hangout Downtown

Downtown Hollywood has a lively scene on the weekends. It’s only a mile from the ocean and there are free golf cart shuttles that will pick you up and drop you off (just use the free “ride circuit” app to schedule your pick up location).

Parking can be tough on the weekends so I encourage you to use the shuttle or park a few blocks away from downtown and walk.

Hollywood has been called “Hollyweird” on occasion because there is a diverse, eclectic group of residents.  Enjoy the Latin fusion restaurants, old theater, and pubs when you are downtown.

#3 Hike or Kayak At Anne Kolb Nature Center

Anne Kolb Nature Center lies at the North end of Hollywood Beach boardwalk, just over the intracoastal bridge. It’s less than five minutes from the beach.

This park is tranquil and it’s a great way to remove yourself from the hustle and bustle of South Florida.

Spend several hours on the trails or take your kayak and paddle around the preserve. Keep an eye out for special activities (educational walks) on their website.

If you like wildlife you’ll find plenty of birds, turtles, iguanas, and “no-see-ums” (yes, be sure to wear repellant).

#4 Attend A Concert On The Famous Hollywood Beach Boardwalk

Weekend concerts have been a mainstay at Hollywood Beach for years. Cover bands and well-known groups have made stops at this free concert venue.

Constructed in the middle of the boardwalk, passersby can enjoy the music as they walk to their dining destination. It’s right outside the Margaritaville Hotel (and run by the hotel), so people staying there can relax at the pool while they take in a sunset and some soothing music.

The venue is tough to beat due to is location, cost (free), and cast of regular bands that range from folk, to country and reggae.

hollywood beach florida tourism

#5 Rent Bikes and Cruise For Miles On The Boardwalk

Boardwalks are great for exercise and for cruising, so why not rent a bike for the day and spend hours cruising up and down the boardwalk.

Hollywood Bike Shack offers rentals for all different types of bikes. Cruisers, group bikes, low-riders and more (some even have stereos and lights).

If you’re at the beach, you should explore all 3 miles of boardwalk. You can even go off the boardwalk and continue down Surf Road.

If you’re into Latin music – which is the music of choice in South Florida – then enjoy this song which was filmed at Hollywood Beach. Yes, they are cruising the Hollywood beach boardwalk.

Hollywood Beach Hotels – Where To Stay

There are several great places to stay in Hollywood Beach. Because the beach spans several miles, there are many options with availability throughout the year.

The most popular are below, but you can also find smaller options that are great for travelers on a budget. Keep in mind that high season is during winter (Nov. – March) and prices are usually more expensive.

Margaritaville Hollywood Beach Resort

Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville is the centerpiece of Hollywood Beach. Located centrally on the boardwalk, visitors can enjoy live music, a wave machine, pool, and of, course those picturesque ocean views.

Even if you aren’t a Jimmy Buffett fan, this hotel’s location and amenities will keep all visitors happy.

Hollywood Beach Marriott

The Hollywood Beach Marriott is a wonderful hotel close to the beach. Some rooms offer gorgeous views of the ocean and/or intracoastal so make sure to ask where your room will be located.

>> more information about this Marriott

This hotel offers all that you’d expect from Marriott and there is a wonderful buffett. There is on-site parking at most of the hotels so you won’t have to worry about expensive beach parking.

Diplomat Resort

The Diplomat is an expansive hotel and resort located in South Hollywood Beach. It is farther away from the boardwalk so keep that in mind when booking a room here.

The hotel itself is excellent and it has its own private bridge to walk over A1A road.

If you prefer a little privacy away from the hustle and bustle of the boardwalk, then this is an excellent choice. Surrounding the Diplomat Resort are other high-rise buildings on the beach.

>>check out the Diplomat Resort

Because of the high-rise buildings on the beach, they cast an afternoon shadow on the beach. So get out to the beach early to soak up the sun!

One of the easiest ways to enjoy Hollywood Beach is to use Airbnb. It’s become a very popular and affordable way to travel if you don’t want to be in a hotel.

There are so many quaint places in historical buildings and they are usually affordable if you book far enough ahead.

Look at the options off the boardwalk and you’ll find 1 and 2 bedroom rentals for $50 a night. If you use my Airbnb link you can get $40 off your fist stay .

Hollywood Beach Restaurants

Nicks is a long-standing bar and grill that is near Margaritaville and the live concerts. It was recently remodeled (2020) and has a great selection of beer and food.

Enjoy a game and food inside or sit at a table that looks over the beach. If you need a quick lunch during the heat of the day, you can find a cool spot in Nick’s and wait until the sun becomes less intense.

Nick’s is a spot that has been around forever and it’s great to support a local joint!

I’ve eaten at the Taco Spot on occasion and it’s another quick meal that can be enjoyed while you eat on the boardwalk (or overlook it).

I tend to enjoy the people-watching spots and the Taco Spot offers that in addition to it’s tasty tacos.

Want a classy dinner with beautiful views of the intracoastal? Take a break from the waves and walk two blocks away from the beach and you’ll have a totally different view of Hollywood.

The great thing about GG’s is its sunset views. It faces west, you’ll have a much better view of the sunset than if you were at the beach.

In the evening the intracoastal waterways are tranquil and quiet. You’ll be able to watch large yachts cruise by while you enjoy a delicious meal.

Tip: go for happy hour and get the same great food for a more affordable price.

Opa’s has a few locations throughout South Florida and serves delicious Greek food. Similar to GG’s, Opa’s sits on the water of the intracoastal and there are wonderful views of the water.

Make your reservations early (or get there for an early meal) because the tables near the water fill up quickly.

Opa’s even has belly dancing (might only be on the weekends) so you get some entertainment along with your meal. Servings are large so you’ll have plenty of leftovers for tomorrow’s lunch.

Parking in Hollywood Beach, Florida

Parking in Hollywood Beach is easier than you’d think. The main challenge are afternoons on the weekends.

My advice: arrive to the beach prior to 10am and you’ll find parking close to the beach. Arrive after 10am and you might be driving around for an extended amount of time.

Weekdays are easy to find parking. I There are several parking garages on A1A and parking is paid by the hour (usually costs around $30 for the day).

I recommend parking at Hollywood Beach North Park or to the south at Harry Barry Park (paid parking). Both of these options will allow you to park very close to the beach to minimize walking.

However, both of these options are not central on the boardwalk, so if you’ll be spending most of your time on the boardwalk, use the parking garage or arrive early for paid street parking.

Hollywood Beach remains a secondary option to other, more popular beaches in South Florida. However, few of the other beaches offer the beauty that Hollywood Beach provides.

It’s the perfect place for cruising the boardwalk or walking on the beach.  There are miles of sand to walk up and down and it’s a safe beach as well.

Numerous music videos, shows, and movies have been filmed at this beautiful beach.

It’s not just about the beach.

Plan your trip and spend time at the Anne Kolb Nature Center, just a stones throw from the beach. Visit the thriving downtown area as well.

It’s only a mile from the beach and has an eclectic feel to it. There are free rides to and from the beach, and there are plenty of restaurants, bars, and theaters to satisfy your curiosity.

The activities I’ve suggested are all within a mile of Hollywood’s beautiful beach. But I recommend spending every possible moment on the beach, enjoying the sun, sand, and warm water!

24 Best Things to do in Hollywood Florida You Can’t Miss

Looking for the best things to do in Hollywood Florida?

Nestled between the tourist traps of Fort Lauderdale to the North in Miami to the South, Hollywood has many options for entertainment and culture for its residents and tourists alike.

Originally called “Hollywood by the Sea”, it has been frequented as a major metropolitan city in South Florida by those trying to get away from the superficial nature of South Florida. It’s a sleepy, cozy city that many young urban professionals, families, and those from all paths of life call home.

Unless it’s raining, you can find tons of great outdoor activities, trendy restaurants , and a vibrant nightlife. In this space, we’ll list out the 24 fun activities and attractions in and around Hollywood Florida.

24 Best Things to do in Hollywood Florida You Can’t Miss

1. hollywood beach broardwalk.

Compared to Miami Beach and Fort Lauderdale Beach, Hollywood Beach is quirky and alternative. With less people and crowds, the beach is more accessible and spacious.

Due to a rise in development, there are better restaurants now than ever before. If you start from the limits of Hallandale Beach to the South, it’s a 4 Mile broardwalk, all the way up to the limits of Dania Beach to the north.

Along this 4-mile stretch, you’ll see plenty of restaurants, hotels, shops, and parks. I don’t know about you but I love to check out new businesses, whether it’s a shop selling arts and crafts or a new restaurant. Rent a bike and cruise through the 4-mile broardwalk.

There’s also great people watching along the beachside broardwalk. If you find a restaurant that you like, pull up a chair and watch all of the different people passing by. You’ll see out-of-towners working on their tan; locals taking a break from their daily lives and enjoying the beach, those trying to find a new adventure, and other curious and friendly beach-goers.

2. Hollywood North Beach Park

Towards the north of Hollywood Beach Boardwalk, on the west side you start seeing less buildings and more trees providing breezy shade.

On the eastern side of the boardwalk, we have a beachfront paradise, a lot less crowded than the more popular part of the beach. In Hollywood North Beach Park, you can bring your family, rent a space in the park near a grill and have an afternoon barbecue. While the food is grilling, take a stroll on the sand, take a dip in the water, or play a beach volleyball game.

The park is really taken care of by the City of Hollywood so it’s really clean. The bathrooms are conveniently located in the middle of the park and they’re always well kept. The park itself reminds me a little bit of the Florida Keys with wooden walkways and plenty of shade, the beachfront just a few steps away.

3. ArtsPark at Young Circle

What used to be a big circle of land, mainly frequented by the homeless, has turned into a vibrant city center that offers tons of activities and events.

Located in the middle of downtown Hollywood, the park is surrounded by Young Circle. Within the arts park you have lots of green space with nicely cut grass. It’s a tranquil location that you can take a nice walk through.

You can sit down on park benches and rest along the many fountains. There are multiple playgrounds for kids. And of course there is lots of art; there are art shops offering things like glass art, modern art, arts and crafts and much more; there are monthly concerts that bring in tons of different crowds to enjoy festivals and other musical art.

The City of Hollywood has been developing this part of Downtown and you can tell it takes care of it very well.

ArtsPark at Young Circle

4. Topeekeegee-Yugnee Park (TY Park)

A personal favorite of mine, TY Park is absolutely huge. There are tons of activities to do for children and adults alike. You can have a picnic or rent one of the pavilions to have a barbecue.

The tables within these pavilions are all highly maintained by park services. Amenities such as stores and bathrooms are conveniently located throughout the park. There are trails so that you can enjoy nature and breathe in some fresh air. In the middle of the park, there’s a big lake to sit down and relax next to.

You can even rent some paddle boats and enjoy the view from the lake. Throughout the park there are various playgrounds and even water slides for children to enjoy.

You can bring your dog and dog owners are always asked to pick up after themselves and their furry friends. Overall, it’s a great space for nature lovers and families.

5. Seminole Hard Rock Hollywood Casino

It is one of the biggest casinos and entertainment complexes in Florida, and perhaps the USA. From highly exclusive restaurants and establishments to big ticket concerts, there is something for everyone at Seminole Hard Rock Hollywood Casino. For this reason, it is considered one of the best things to do at night in Hollywood fl.

The casino itself is top of the line, offering blackjack, Mini-Baccarat, slots, and all kinds of poker. There are talks that the Seminole Tribe will start offering sports betting, if that’s your thing. When you get tired of winning big, cash in your chips and have a night out at one of the many high-end clubs.

Check out the Seminole Hard Rock Comedy Club for some laughs as many of the nation’s top comics pass by.

6. Nick’s Bar and Grille

A bit south of north of the Hollywood beach band shell, you’ll find Nick’s Bar and Grille. This restaurant is a staple of Hollywood beach. Offering raw oysters and clams, shrimp baskets, and other American cuisine, this bar and grille is a must-try on Hollywood Beach.

Canadians and locals come from all parts of the world to try “Nick’s famous New England clam chowder.” The mojitos, and other drinks, at the bar are perfect with the bartenders taking their time to make the cocktails.

They have live music on certain nights and their kitchen is open until late night. Grab a seat at the bar and enjoy the breeze as you enjoy an ice cold beer and get to know some locals that pass by on their bikes.

7. West Lake Park

Home of the iconic Hollywood Water Tower, which can be seen for miles around Hollywood, this park is an outdoor urban mangrove jungle offering a plethora of activities to do alone or with the family.

With 47,800 feet of beachfront space and 20,600 feet of mangrove shoreline along waterways, there is plenty of space to kayak, bike, hike, or paddle through. Boasting basketball courts, hiking paths, a marina, a picnic area, playgrounds and various volleyball courts, there are tons of activities to do in this enormous park.

The entrance costs $1.50 except on Sunday when there is a $3 charge. The park is open from 8am to 6pm. Pets are welcome, an added plus but of course patrons are asked to clean after themselves and their furry friends.

8. Upper deck Hallandale

A couple of blocks south of Hollywood, in Hallandale Beach, you can find Upper Deck near the northeast corner of Gulfstream on Hallandale Beach Boulevard. It has a breezy patio with plenty of fans to keep cool and a spacious interior. The food is great and the sports are always on.

The baked oysters are to die for and the menu is fresh and savory.  Sit at one of its two huge bars and you can start up a friendly conversation with many sports fans. The outside patio was recently renovated and now boasts over 20 TVs with prime furniture to enjoy the latest sporting events.

There isn’t a seat outside that doesn’t have a view of one of the many huge TVs. The inside is really comfortable too with a huge projector on major sporting event nights.

Even before Oprah’s review stating this place has her favorite burger, Le Tub has been a Hollywood staple for a long time. Yes, the burgers are great.

The view is absolutely spectacular, especially at sunset due to it being on the intercostal side, or west of the Atlantic shore. Come early because this place is usually packed. The olde’ Florida vibe and the burgers are part of the experience. In this place, even before the recent fame, the client isn’t always right. The burgers can take a bit to be served.

The waiters and waitresses, and I used to talk to some of them personally, are told to mind the restaurant’s business over the customers’ whims. That’s the way it should be. There are tons of establishments to choose from. If you choose Le Tub, but the quality of the food, and the fantastic view, over the, perhaps, the off-putting attitude of the workers.

10. Hard Rock Stadium

Let’s go Dolphins! There are simply so many things to do in South Florida that going to an NFL game might be an afterthought. Hard Rock Stadium doesn’t only host NFL games, though.

In 2022, it will be hosting a Formula 1 race and the Miami Open among an A-list of concerts. The stadium itself is state of the art and has hosted 5 super bowls. Miami Dolphin games are lots of fun.

Get there early and enjoy some of the tailgate BBQs. Throw the ball around with your friends while the game starts. Once the game time comes around, get ready for an amazing NFL experience.

Hard Rock Stadium

11. Gulfstream Casino

One of the best free things to do in Hollywood Florida for adults – a must see for anyone interested in horse racing. It’s a huge complex with live shows and of course, all sorts of gaming available in Florida, open all year.

It’s been a premier gaming complex since its inception in 1939. Races run from December through October. It was dubbed “the track by the sea” due to its spacious and scenic views attracting horse players from all over the world.

The casino also offers poker, craps, blackjack, sports betting, and of course horse wagering.  Admission is free but they offer VIP suites to enjoy the races. It’s conveniently located on US1 and Hallandale Beach Blvd.

12. The Village at Gulfstream

The Village at Gulfstream is a trendy, impressive open air shopping center. It’s definitely upscale with premium entertainment and restaurants. It’s part of Gulfstream but a destination in itself.

The Gulfstream complex is huge and the Village is part of it. Overall, Gulfstream is a must see for anyone in the area. I recommend going to Yard House which offers over 100 beers from all over the world.

13. Aventura Mall

Upscale, intimate, and beautiful, this mall is one of the best in the entire nation. With tons of parking, and pretty much any store you can think of.

From the numerous major department stores, to small but not to be overlooked boutiques, there is window shopping, and even real shopping, for all.

Come on Sunday and find plenty of parking so that you can have a nice stroll through the enormous mall, which combined with its luxury stores and over 4 big name department stores, can be put up against any mall in the US, or even the world.

Note: This is located 10 mins drive away from Hollywood, but it still one of the most popular malls for Hollywood locals.

14. Charnow Park

You have to come to this beachside park if you’re traveling with children. There is a spacious fountain so the little ones can play in, along with other playgrounds for them to enjoy while the adults sit down in the shade of the tables and benches.

If you like to play paddle ball or handball, there are six full sized adjacent courts next to the very ample, and affordable, parking lot.

15. Art and Culture Center of Hollywood

If you are someone who is into arts and cultural exhibits, we would highly recommend going to the Art and Culture Center of Hollywood.

Admission costs only $7 so it is a relatively cheap activity to do in Hollywood. Inside there are tonnes to see with various different galleries to explore as well as different exhibits that come and go. There are also concerts held at the Center so be sure to check out what’s on during your dates.

16. Anniversary Park.

Hollywood Fl is known for having quite a lot of parks to explore. If you are not sick of parks yet, another cool one to check out is Anniversary Park.

It is one of the prettiest parks in downtown Hollywood and the gardeners take a real pride in their landscaping skills at this park. There are lots of flora and fauna to check out at the back including Florida oak, bamboo groves and Magnolia tress. They flowers are absolutely stunning in Spring if you find yourself in the area at that time of year.

You will see a lot of locals taking their kids to play in the park as there are also lots of playgrounds for children available here which is great if you are looking for activities to keep the little ones occupied.

17. Cinema Paradiso

Looking for a unique date idea in Hollywood fl, the Cinema Paradiso is always a good choice! If you are a bit of a hipster or like alternative stuff, you will love this place as it showcases independent and house films.

It’s a cool place to go because it is known for playing low cost films which don’t usually get showed. Lots of them are actually really good so it’s definitely worth checking out.

18. The Sal Oliveri Veterans Park

Another park in Hollywood thought of as one of the best things to do with kids in Hollywood FL as it has tonnes of playground areas and I mean tonnes.

It’s a nice play to go for the parents too as it has really lovely walking paths and a nice water feature in the middle of the park.

It is a well known local hangout so if you are new to the area and want to meet some locals (especially if you have kids) this is a nice place to go.

19. Downtown Hollywood Mural Project

The Downtown Hollywood Mural Project is a really fun place to go if you are an art fan and love outdoor murals.

In the mural is a collection of art by national and internationally recognized artists in different locations in Downtown Hollywood. Here is a map of where the art is located.

There is also a fun ArtWalk where you can see the artworks in action (held on the third Saturday of each month).

20. Hollywood Hot Glass

Like Venice, glass blowing is a long tradition in the Hollywood FL area too and has been practiced in the area for years and years.

If you want to see demonstrations of this glass blowing tradition, we would suggest you heading to the ArtsPark which is located in the downtown area of Hollywood. Here you can see various objects made by blown glass.

There are various shops around the area including Hollywood Hot Glass Studio where you can buy some cool souvenirs or take a glass in the art of glassblowing.

21. Hollywood Bike Shack

One of the most popular activities for locals in the area is to go for a bike ride. If are traveling in the area and you don’t have your own bike to use, you can head to the Hollywood Bike Shack to hire one.

What’s cool about this shop is not only do they have normal bikes but you can also hire a “surrey bike” which can seat up to 6 passengers, so it is perfect for a group of friends.

Hollywood Bike Shack

22. Water Taxi

Another cool way to explore the city is by Water Taxi which is one of the most popular ways to get around for locals in the area.

It costs $30 for Adults or you can get an annual pass for $300 if you are planning to move to the area and use it all the time.

If you want to just jump on for a bit of a joyride, it takes 3 hours to complete the entire route around the Fort Lauderdale area which is a really nice and scenic way to spend the afternoon.

23. Hollywood Jetski

If you are looking for a little bit more adventurous way to explore the area, why not rent a jetski?

One of the best parts of Florida and indeed the Hollywood region is that it is surrounded by water, which makes fun water sports like jet skis possible.

24. John Williams Park and Sheridan Oak Forest

Still wondering what to do in Hollywood Florida?  The John Williams Park and Sheridan Oak Forest is always a good idea. This is a fan favorite for anyone who loves outdoors and nature activities.

It is also possible to camp overnight in this park which is pretty cool. Aside from camping, if you just want to visit the park for a day, there are lots of fun activities to enjoy including awesome walking trails, picnic areas and playgrounds.
