Phi Phi seems to be the Phuket tour on everyone’s list of islands to visit. It usually is for several reasons: The islands look fabulous, with two bays surrounded by vertical limestone cliffs. The beach parties are notorious and can last all night. Backpackers seem to have made Phi Phi their destination of choice. It used to be possible to spend the night in a tent or a basic bungalow with air-conditioning, but it seems that this option is not available at this time! Tailored trip around Pukhet was a blast

"We booked a full day, 13 hour trip with Pai (Ruetai) around Phuket. We had already made a plan for a spa appointment in the middle of the day (only one available) and our flight home in the early evening, so we knew one of the bigger scheduled tours would not work for us. We reached out with some of our thoughts and she promptly provided us a sample itinerary that checked all our boxes. When I reached out to other companies, they either replied with the same sample itinerary from their website, or did not reply promptly at all. Many had lacking reviews or mixed reviews with claims like not being provided an English speaking guide which gave us pause. Pai as a tour guide was very knowledgeable - she knew many facts about Phuket, Thai culture, Buddhism, and each of the sites we visited. Her answers usually piqued our interest and would lead to longer casual conversations as we learned more and more. Her willingness to work around our unusual schedule made our trip possible. Her suggestions for different stops - like the cashew factory - made our tour feel personalized and more intimate. Importantly, she always had a smile on her face and would share funny stories and good times with us, often helping us take the goofy photos we wanted at our stops. Her English is fluent and we had no trouble conversing at length. Our travel was very comfortable in a typical luxury Thai van. Water, coca-cola and towelettes were provided and refreshing on a hot day. We took her recommendation for lunch and quite enjoyed it as well. The driver drove in a very safe manner. We arrived on time to all of our appointments. My group and I highly recommend a trip with her. If we return we would be sure to reach out to see a second day of Phuket, and we will be recommending her to friends and family who travel to the region."

"We had the best time with Pathu (Pai), our tour guide, today! What a memorable trip. She picked us up straight from our hotel and took us to the Marina where a private boat awaited us. From there we went on an exploration of several of the islands around Phuket. We were able to swim, snorkel, watch monkeys play, hang out in the beach, sunbath, and enjoy an amazing lunch! Beverages and a fruit platter were also included. The boat was clean and spacious, the crew was professional, friendly, and competent. Pai could not have been nicer or more helpful. She arranged everything and made sure we all had a great time. I give her my highest recommendation. The waters around Phuket are so crystal clear and beautiful. The sand is so fine it has the texture of flour. The coral reefs are teeming with colorful fish. This excursion will be one of the highlights of our trip to Thailand!"

The tour gave us a really good feeling for Phuket’s history both as part of Thailand and as part of the region, as well as simply explaining what all the buildings we walked by were and had been in the past. Pathu has a strong connection to the place and clearly loves her job. You may have the option to start the tour in a museum. Although this adds to the cost and isn’t essential it is a really worthwhile deep dive into the history of Phuket through the stories and artifacts of one family. "

The four day Phuket to Phi Phi boat trip was fantastic - Mr. A took us to places typically crowded with tourists during off-times (better times!) like sunset and sunrise where we were the only people around the islands. It was a beautiful trip, and exactly what I was expecting and needed.

The crew were amazingly warm and friendly plus very knowledgeable and really strived to deliver a memorable experience. They hit the ground running and make sure everyone's having fun from the first minute that you jump on board. The cook (Doe) was also highly skilled and rustled up some of the best dishes that I've tasted whilst in Thailand...plus he uses fresh ingredients with not a hint of MSG! Available equipment such as Kayak's and snorkels are also really good with the only cost being for drinks (other than water) plus national park fees which are minimal. The group size is also quite small which made it much easier to settle in and we all got along amazingly. I'm already looking into my next Intrepid trip! :)

Phuket Sailing Adventure

Our recent trip with Intrepid Travel was wonderful. Here are some comments: We greatly enjoyed our trip on the Cataleya catamaran. There were three of us, husband, wife and adult child, in a quad room (we paid $500 extra to share the cabin without a fourth passenger and so as to not be separated by gender). There were 12 people on the tour and 4 crew members, including the Captain/Tour leader, a cook, and two general helpers. General: The quad rooms are by far the nicest cabins on this boat. I would probably rate the trip differently if I had paid extra to end up in a tiny double with no air circulation. The food and crew were great. We had several kayaks and SUPs on the catamaran that were available for us to use at some of the stops. We were lucky to have a really nice group of passengers on this trip in close quarters. 7 of the 12 passengers were traveling solo. There was a small refrigerator on the boat with space for each passenger to keep a water bottle cold. Soft drinks, wine and beer were available for a small additional cost. I think the captain, Bruno, is an Intrepid employee, however I felt that Intrepid Travel did not know much about this trip. All travel to and from the boat is done in a small zodiac motorboat. Do not pack anything in your luggage that might get broken from being tossed in a zodiac with everyone else's luggage. My new scuba mask was crushed during the trip to the catamaran. There is also the risk that the luggage will get wet during the journey. Itinerary: There was (too much) time spent at touristy locations such as James Bond Island and Railay Beach, and (not enough) time spent snorkeling and stopping to use the kayaks and SUPs. We also visited some interesting caves and interior lagoons. One thing to note is that this is ideally a 6-night trip out of Phuket. It is sold as two separate 3-night trips, and we joined for 3-nights, but I wish we had gone for the full 6-nights. Value for money: The cabins vary a lot and some cabins are more desirable than others. Doubles are currently more expensive and not as nice as quads. The quads have bigger windows and much better ventilation. The boat was well maintained. The meals prepared by the cook were excellent and she was very good about accommodating dietary restrictions. Accommodations: The link on the website to information about boats used by Intrepid does not show the Cataleya. The 2 quad cabins are the same, but each of the doubles is different. Each cabin has its own bathroom, with toilet, small sink and shower. There are electrical outlets in the cabins for charging electronic devices. Climate: This was during the coolest time of year in Thailand, and it was about 95 degrees out most of the time. The ocean water was perfect, about 85 or so. Being on a boat barefoot in bathing suits is perfect during the day in this climate. Sleeping was a bit of a challenge, despite the fan by each bed. There is no air conditioning on the boat. I recommend this trip and would do it again.

Thai Intro 18 Day

I believe the itinerary was a great balance of activities and chill time, the food was all amazing and local tour guides were also very engaging! We luckily had Charlie as our group leader! He was enthusiastic, charismatic and very engaging. He was amazing at helping the group with recommendations, allergies, and keeping people entertained from start to end! I also was amazed he was waiting for us to arrive at the hotel and greet us at 3am. His knowledge of each destination was also amazing! I just wish Charlie could come travelling with us onwards!
