Island Princess Review

island princess lunch cruise

Island Princess is one of the two 92,000-ton Coral-class ships -- the other is Coral Princess -- that offer transits through the Panama Canal. They were custom built to do so and are the only two Princess ships in the fleet small enough to get through the locks.

A 2015 dry dock added 121 staterooms and reorganized and refurbished certain public areas of the ship to accommodate the new cabins. The Horizon Court was remodeled to improve passenger flow, and its updated design includes the addition of an Italian pastry shop. If you sailed the ship previously, you will feel like a first timer as many public spaces have changed locations: The Sanctuary sun deck is now on one deck instead of two and its pool is gone; the teen center has moved to Deck 14, while the kids club has lost its outdoor space; the fitness center exchanged its former Deck 14 location to one on Deck 6; and even the shore excursions desk and future cruise booking office have new locations. The multipurpose Universe Lounge is no more. The end result is that the remaining public areas can feel more crowded with the addition of the extra passengers.

Despite the refit, the ship still feels a little dated, especially in the corridors (which can be uneven in places) and cabin bathrooms. While the four-story atrium -- undoubtedly eye-catching with its lovely, tinkling waterfall, glass-fronted elevator, comfortable seating, white grand piano and profusion of greenery -- is the centerpiece of the ship, the area still has a cramped feeling, which is particularly noticeable on sea days.

Island Princess is a comfortable ship. It won't intimidate virgin cruisers like some of the newest behemoths might do, and staff throughout the ship are pleasant and willing to help with queries or requests. With plenty of onboard entertainment opportunities, a good selection of shore excursions, good food and fantastic kids' programs, the ship makes it easy for guests to have an enjoyable holiday.

Bottom Line

Fellow passengers.

Island Princess attracts families, couples and a few singles. Although it is a ship for all ages, summer holidays tend to attract more families with children and teenagers. Our Mediterranean cruise attracted a good mix of ages, with the bulk of passengers hailing from the United States, followed by Brits and a healthy smattering of Australians. Other nationalities -- including Chinese, Japanese, Canadians and Italians -- made up the balance. Depending on itinerary, however, it would be fair to say that the majority of Island Princess passengers are American. Announcements are kept to a minimum.

Island Princess Dress Code

During the day, anything goes, although beachwear is not allowed in the restaurants without a cover-up. On most nights, recommended evening dress is smart casual -- an open-neck shirt and trousers for men and a dress, skirt ensemble or trouser suit for women. Cruises of five nights or longer include at least one formal dining night, while cruises of seven to 13 nights have two formal evenings.

Although Princess asks that passengers observe the dress code, particularly in the main dining rooms, we saw many people flouting the rules. Men, in particular, turned up in short sleeve, open-neck checked shirts, casual trousers and sneakers. Generally speaking, ladies were better turned-out; while less than a handful wore evening gowns, most turned up in cocktail dresses or elegant trouser suits. Staff seemed to turn a blind eye to any dress code infractions.

A Life-Long Dream Discovered on Pitcairn Island

By margie vance.

Margie with “Mutiny on the Bounty” with Pitcairn Island in the back

Almost 30 years ago, Pitcairn Island captured my imagination while reading “Mutiny on the Bounty”—is there really such a place?—do people still live there?—what are they like?—how do they survive on a tiny island in the Pacific, a world away from civilization?

Thus began my journey, which culminated this April when Royal Princess (on its final voyage) anchored offshore and welcomed aboard my Pitcairn friends for a morning visit.

Pictairn is a paradise, a well-kept secret since Fletcher Christian and his crew landed in 1789. Even today, the entire population—47 men, women and children—are direct descendants of the Bounty. Pitcairn appeared in the distance in the early morning hours—a tiny speck of land, less than two square miles, displaying gloriously green landscape and rock formations standing untouched since creation.

Captain Ivan Jerman anchored strategically to provide us with a picture perfect view of Bounty Bay (the Bounty still lies on the ocean floor just beneath our ship). Adamstown was before us, a delightful settlement of lovely homes, town center, medical office, beautiful church and one small dirt road which circles the island.

Having established web-friendships with several of the islanders over the last six years since internet reached their remoteness, they were thrilled to hear of our plans to stop by. There were lots of requests from the islanders for special items and I was asked to bring “luxury” items such as Baby Ruth candy bars, writing paper, swimsuits, etc.  Supply ships come by only a few times each year, and they deliver only basic life necessities. It was great fun shopping for all the little luxuries they so seldom see. We ended up with four extra suitcases full of goodies! Air Tahiti Nui was also most generous in allowing us extra baggage for our cause.

Because we had three days at sea before arriving at Pitcairn, we took every opportunity to excite other passengers about the port. Many were not even aware of the true story of the Bounty, which we were happy to summarize for them.

At breakfast, lunch, pool time, waiting for shows, even in the restrooms—if anyone mentioned Pitcairn, we flamed their interest with personal stories from our correspondence with the islanders. By the time the longboat pulled alongside, we had the entire starboard side of the cruise ship calling out greetings to those coming aboard!

The Princess staff also graciously helped me prepare gifts bags for each of the 11 island children. The culture difference between us was immediately evident—Princess passengers busily purchasing original handicrafts and postmarking cards, while the Pitcairners gently and quietly sold their wares, graciously entertained questions and shared stories of their homeland.

Our cruise ended much too soon as we bid a fond farewell to one the most remote and amazing places on earth–our Princess ship being one of the privileged few to visit each year. Thanks, Princess, for this opportunity of a lifetime!

Island Princess Itineraries

Island princess review, review of island princess.

The 2003-built Island Princess cruise ship is the second of the two Coral-class Princess ships, together with Coral Princess .

The vessel (IMO number 9230402) is currently Bermuda- flagged (MMSI 310384000) and registered in Hamilton .

History - construction and ownership

Princess Cruises is a USA-based passenger shipping company headquartered in Beverly Hills CA. A former subsidiary of P&O Princess Cruises (1977-founded), in 2003, the company merged with Carnival Corporation - the world's largest cruise shipowner. Among Princess Cruise Lines Ltd's assets is the Caribbean private island resort Princess Cays (on Bahamas Eleuthera Island's southern end), located approx 80 km (50 mi) from Nassau .

Island Princess cruise ship

The 2200-passenger ship Island Princess and Coral Princess are "aberrations" for Princess Cruises. The line launched only two cruise vessels of this size before joining the rest of the industry in building ever-more-massive ships (like those in the Grand-class). Not part of either the group of biggest-in-fleet ships or the mid-sized Sun-class vessels, Island Princess falls somewhere in the middle and in many ways, it represents the best of both. Island Princess mixes the exotic (international crew members, stylish Italian dining venues, celebrity-style spa treatments) and the familiar (cruising's ubiquitous buffets, poolside umbrella drinks, cocktails and bingo). The public spaces are shiny, and even though the vessel was launched in 2003, there's no suggestion of wear and tear. Service is very good, especially in the dining venues. And the amusement is top rate. But the thing which really stands out is the quality of life onboard. Island Princess does a notable job of creating a typical Alaska experience that's highlighted by a lecture series featuring a state naturalist, National Park Service "ranger talks" and a presentation by the 1st woman to win the Iditarod. There is even a Princess travel guidance and map which allow guests to detect their navigational locations while referencing tales, points of interest and photos of the route.

Decks and Cabins

Island Princess staterooms (1107 total, in 34 grades) include 123 Suites, 581 Balconies, 181 Oceanviews and 122 Interior, also 20 wheelchair-accessible cabins. Almost 80% of all outside passenger accommodations have private step-out balconies. The largest are the Balcony Suites (300-470 ft2 / 28-44 m2 including the terrace).

The boat has 15 decks , of which 12 are passenger-accessible and 9 with cabins.

Shipboard dining options - Food and Drinks

The two main restaurants onboard Island Princess serve up traditional 5-course evening meals. The line offers set seating at 6 and 8:15 pm. in the Bordeaux and flexible anytime dining in the Provence Restaurant. The menus in both venues are the same with favorites, such as Executive Chef Martial Diffor's fettuccine alfredo, beef wellington, deep-sea cod in coriander butter sauce, twin broiled lobster tail. All meals are prepared to order. Menus in the main restaurants also offer vegetarian choices and Lotus Spa innovative dishes, with healthier options like chilled yogurt and tamarind soup with grated lemon zest, filet of baby turbot with fennel Pernod sauce and tropical fruit smoothie with lime. Guests who prefer more formal fare can choose the sit-down service in the Bordeaux dining room for breakfast and lunch.

Follows the complete list of Coral Princess restaurants and food bars.

  • Bordeaux Restaurant (ship's forward Dining Room; dinner only)
  • Provence Restaurant (ship's forward Dining Room for Breakfast 7-9 am, Lunch 12-1:30 pm, Afternoon Tea 3:30-4:30 pm; “Anytime Dining” for Dinner between 5:30-8 pm or 8-10 pm, "Chef's Table" private dining)
  • Sabatini’s Restaurant (Italian specialty restaurant; reservations recommended)
  • Bayou Cafe & Steakhouse (specialty restaurant)
  • The Bar & Grill (complimentary fast food)
  • Horizon Court (self-service buffet restaurant, complimentary)

In April 2024 Princess Cruises announced that starting September 14th (2024) fleetwide would be introduced 3 distinct main dining/dinner table service options – Traditional, Reservable, and Walk-in Anytime. By the new program (introduced with Sun Princess) on each ship are allocated 3 separate dining rooms - one for Traditional dining (offering early and late dinner seating), one with Reservable times, and one for Walk-in Anytime (open-seating). The new options are integrated with the OceanNow service, allowing anything to be ordered anytime, and delivered anywhere onboard.

Shipboard entertainment options - Fun and Sport

On either side of the Fiesta and Promenade Decks are the two grandest venues of Island Princess: Princess Theater and Universe Lounge. Tucked between the two are the majority of lounges and bars, including the clubby Explorers Lounge, the Wheelhouse Bar which is more sedate, the retro Crooners martini bar, Churchill's cigar lounge and the casino, with its various table games like blackjack, poker, roulette and state-of-the-art slots. By day, ScholarShip@Sea program focuses on enrichment with a wide range of programming. There are dance classes, lectures on bridge and fashion, computer instruction. When Island Princess gets to the Panama Canal, passengers are provided with a lecture about canal's history and how it works.

Itineraries

Island Princess itinerary program is best-known for the Panama Canal transition cruises (passing thru the Historic/Old Locks). The boat also operates around the world voyages .

Due to the Coronavirus crisis, the Island Princess ship was paused for 2+ years (March 2020 thru April 2022). "World Cruise 2022" (112-day roundtrip from Fort Lauderdale/Port Everglades, Florida USA ) was canceled. Operations were scheduled to restart with Caribbean itineraries (7-day and 14-day B2B roundtrips from Port Everglades), followed by an 18-day Transatlantic crossing and a European season (Baltic-Iceland-Greenland from Southampton UK) and a mini-Mediterranean season (from Civitavecchia-Rome).

The vessel (STX France/Chantiers de l’Atlantique yard/hull number D32) has volume 92822 GT-tons, DWT-deadweight tonnage 8015 tons, max draught 8,3 m. The powerplant is based on 2x Wartisla marine diesel engines (model 16V46C) plus a gas turbine (model General Electric LM2500) with combined output 62,7 MW (84055 hp). The propulsion is CODLAG (combined diesel-electric and gas). The registered shipowner is PRINCESS CRUISE LINES LTD, while the registered manager is BRITTANY SHIPPING CORP LTD.

The vessel was ordered in 1999, its construction started in 2001 and was launched on July 2, 2002. The christening ceremony was on July 11, 2003, held dockside at Canada Place Cruise Terminal in Port Vancouver. The naming event was led by two godparents - the Canadian pairs figure skaters (Salt Lake Olympic Games figure skating gold medalists/spouses at the time) Jamie Rae Sale (1977-born/Olympic Champion 2002 & World Champion 2001) and David Jacques Pelletier (1974-born/Olympic Champion 2002). The Maiden Voyage left from Vancouver on July 3rd. The inaugural cruise (7-day "Voyage of the Glaciers" Alaskan itinerary) visited Ketchikan, Juneau, and Skagway, featuring scenic cruising in Glacier Bay NP (College Fjord). For the inaugural winter season (2003-2004/September-April) the ship was deployed in the Caribbean and homeported in Port Everglades-Fort Lauderdale (Florida USA) .

Note: In 2002, the Canadian couple Jamie Sale and David Pelletier had to share the gold medal with a Russian skating couple (Elena Berezhnaya and Anton Sikharulidze) - which is a rarity in figure skating. The issue raised discussions regarding assessments in this sport. The Canadians made their skating with no flaws, but Russia argued that the Russian couple's performance was more complex and therefore deserves the gold medal, despite a minor flaw in the performance. As a diplomatic way out, both couples were given gold medals.

Princess Cruises Island ship is the fleet's 2nd CORAL-class liner, with sistership Coral . The vessel was launched on July 12, 2003. The naming ceremony was held in Port Vancouver (BC Canada) .

Island Princess spends autumn, winter and spring sailing on 10-day or 2-week-long Panama Canal transition cruises visiting ports in Aruba, Costa Rica, Colombia, the Mexican Riviera. During summer, the ship offers 7-day Alaskan itineraries from Vancouver Canada to Whittier Alaska .

The Princess sisterships Island and Coral are the fleet's only Panamax vessels. Panamax ships cover all standards for transiting through the Panama Canal. In 2017, Caribbean Princess made its maiden season of Panama Canal cruises through the new locks (inaugurated on June 26, 2016).

Everything else, including soft drinks, wine, beer, cocktails, spirits and specialty coffees, must either be purchased a la carte or through one of the cruise line's beverage packages .

Do I need reservations?

Reservations are encouraged for the main dining room and the specialty restaurants, and it's best to make them as early as possible ; walk-in parties will be accommodated on a space-available basis. Guests can make reservations via the Princess MedallionClass app or at guest services once you're on board. If you wish to eat at the same time every night, you can do so by reserving your tables in advance.

Does Princess Cruises have an evening dress code?

"Smart casual" attire will be appropriate for the main dining room, buffet and fast-casual restaurants. You might want to pack something dressier for the specialty restaurants or one of the more upscale dining experiences like Chef's Table, 360 or a winemaker dinner.

On sailings that are five nights or longer, there will be one or more formal nights, which do require adhering to a dress code in the dining venues . Cocktail dresses, evening gowns or dressy pantsuits are appropriate for women, while dark suits, tuxedos or dinner jackets and slacks are required for men , along with dressy footwear. Is there assigned seating in the main dining room?

There is no assigned seating at any dining venues on board Princess ships. However, if you are a solo diner or part of a couple or small group, your host might ask if you would like to sit with another party of a similar size in the main dining room; the choice is up to you.

What if I have dietary restrictions?

You can use the Cruise Personalizer to indicate your dietary preferences, including requests for low-sodium, low-fat, low-sugar and vegetarian diets. Kosher meals and baby food are available with advanced written requests. If you have allergies or medical needs related to food, you must inform Princess in writing — check the line's website for more details. Princess Cruises also recently introduced a series of vegan menus for dinner in the main dining room, including starters, soups, salads, pastas and main dishes.

Where can I get snacks on board?

You'll find lots of spots to grab a quick bite, dessert or coffee, including Coffee & Cones, Patisserie, Swirls Ice Cream Bar, The Pastry Shop, International Cafe and Gelateria — options vary depending on the ship. Food at these venues is included, but there is a charge for specialty coffees and teas unless you have a beverage package.

Is room service included on Princess Cruises?

Guests can use the designated button on their cabin's phone to order room service 24 hours a day; each order incurs a $5 delivery fee, which is waived for those with Princess Plus or Princess Premier status.

You can also use the OceanNow feature in the Princess Medallion Class app to order food to be delivered to your cabin or anywhere else on the ship, like the pool deck. This feature is included with Princess Plus and Princess Premium; otherwise, there is a one-time access fee of $14.99 per person per voyage and a $5 delivery fee per order. Food and beverage surcharges may apply for some items ordered via room service.

This decision completely depends on your preferred way of travelling. During the Russian river cruise you will not only visit the two largest cities of Russia, but also small towns and villages along the route and you will have a chance to participate in master classes, learn a little Russian language and dive into local Russian culture and hospitality. For those who prefer custom-made programs and more free time in the cities of their choice we recommend a land tour, both are excellent options. To find out more about the differences click here .

  • O6435EZcaitlins 0 contributions 1.0 of 5 bubbles Not Surprised They Shut Down, But Surprised It Took This Long I wish I would have written this review earlier and maybe saved a lot of these reviewers some money, aggravation, disappointment, etc. but I wanted to hope that our experience was a rarity. In April of 2022, we started to reach out to the Island Princess for a corporate event for late June of 2022. We had visitors coming in from Europe and Asia, as well as across the US and it was the first time since the pandemic that this much of the team was going to be together. I then spent the next couple of months trying to pin them down on their location (red flag: based on everyone I spoke with at Island Princess and Marriott, they had left their spot at the Marriott under bad circumstances), the contract (I was chasing them down to get THEM to send a contract and payment info!!), the food and drink menu and the logistics (so many red flags there - one person told us they make all the food arrangements, another told us they order from whatever local or chain restaurant we prefer, a third said they use the chef at Pirates Resort, who was impossible to get ahold of)… the main problem was really getting anyone to respond to me. Emails, calls, texts, they mostly went unanswered except a couple of time when Chris emailed or called with some reason/excuse or another but reassuring me we would be all set for the June event, and I felt bad for this struggling small business. A couple of weeks before the event date, when we were finally about to cancel and make other arrangements, one GREAT employee contacted me and was very responsive and reassured me all would be well. We worked together on the panning for a couple of weeks, until late in the week prior to the event when she texted me to tell me she was no longer with the Island Princess. (Worrisome!) Cut to the day before the event and I get a call from the first mate/deckhand (NOT one of the owners, NOT the captain) who tells me that they failed their Coast Guard inspection and would not be able to fulfill the contract. I had ONe day to make and communicate alternate arrangements for a large group of travelers who wanted to be on the water. In that moment I thought “Fool, you can’t even let yourself be surprised by this.” I never for one moment doubt they didn’t pass their Coast Guard inspection - a company that disorganized was likely not keeping up on basic safety regulations for their vessel - but it was also a convenient excuse for them to not honor their contract which I don’t think they really ever planned to do. I knew if I waited, this business would close down. It’s not just a slip rental issue. This was a poorly run, likely unsafe (not according to me, ask the Coast Guard!), completely non customer focused business. If you read this far, you should know that we immediately contacted The Boathouse in Stuart. They were SO responsive and Waleska made the quickest arrangements for a group event that I’ve ever seen, she did it with such pleasure, the food as always was great, we had the upstairs private room with a bar so it was the perfect vibe, and it is right on the water so our guests could go walk on the boardwalk and the floating dock. Now we almost exclusively visit one of their family of restaurants or use them for catering when we have a company event. THAT is the kind of business that you want to do business with!! • aco2010 0 contributions 1.0 of 5 bubbles Pirates of the sea !!! I booked with Island Princess in February 2023 after speaking with Chris Hammond who presented himself as the captain and boat owner in detail of what was required for a burial at sea. This trip was to scatter my mother’s ashes at sunrise. I signed the contract and gave a 50% deposit with agreement that full payment would be made the date of the service. In hindsight a red flag should have gone up when we received an email asking for full payment shortly after signing the contract and paying the deposit. We contacted Chris Hammond immediately and he apologized and said it was to assure him that we would show up as he had had others be “ No -Shows ”. Quickly I responded that a no show was not an option for me as he had 50% of our money and flights had been booked along with hotels for all. He agreed apologized and said he would meet us the morning of June 3rd. As in our signed contract that monies owed along with gratuities would be payed then. The date of the service was to be June 3,2023 as I had to wait for the end of the school year to travel. I arrive along with my family from Tennessee and Houston, my cousins from Oklahoma and my mother’s college roommate who is 79 years old and made the trip from Colorado. The only reason that we came to Florida was to say goodbye and carry out my late mother’s wishes for her ashes to be scattered in the sea she so loved. We emailed Chris Hammond at Island Princess as soon as we got to Stuart Florida and made several calls the day before the service with no answer. We finally called the marina where we were to sail from in the next morning only to find out that The Island Princess had skipped out of the marina owing for their slip rental and fuel. Sadly we were told others had shown up for their charters as well, only to learn as we did that they had been robbed as well. I post this review so others may be advised how unscrupulous and deceptive this man and his wife Emilia are. I mention her name because it is her name on my signed contract as the owner of the Island Princess. Stay away from these two individuals and to any unsuspecting marina make sure that you take a large deposit and check reference before letting them do business from your dock. I hope taking the time to compose this review will help others not to go through the disappointment and heartache that our family was put through. Read more Written June 5, 2023

When my GPS indicated that we would be late for our cruise, I looked up the phone number for Island Princess Cruises. Unbelievably, I had to listen to a recording, giving me 9 different options for other recordings - there was NO way to speak to a human. I reviewed the directions given by Island Princess once we got to the resort where the boat was docked so that we could hurry down once we arrived. The instructions said that we should look for the Dockmasters office and there we would find signs for Island Princess so we rushed to the office...NO sign. I frantically ran around the dock area and finally found a small sign near the hotel's restaurant. We made the cruise but based on the experience, it is a very poorly-run business. We had a tasty lunch and few cheeky Bloody Mary cocktails. I would definitely recommend it, if you are here in Stuart! Read more Written April 1, 2023
  • Camper04275917618 0 contributions 1.0 of 5 bubbles Private Charter beware I think most of the reviews here are for the standard daytime set river cruises, as our group of 40 did not have a great experience. If you choose to stop reading here, please see the pictures, as they tell most of the story. This was a private charter for 40 people with dinner and an open bar. From the videos on YouTube and the pictures that we reviewed, the boat looked like a great experience. So we booked it, and figured that the nearly 5 digit price tag would be worth it. When booking, they were very responsive and spoke to me on the phone to answer my questions. About a month before our trip, I called and sent an email asking to update our dinner order to add a dessert. No reply. 3 days before our trip, I wanted to confirm everything, so I called again. No call back from my voice mail. 2 days before the trip, I call the regular line to book the stock cruises and spoke to someone in person, they were not able to help me but said someone from the private charter would call me back. Finally spoke with someone to finalize the plans, and they asked me what we were doing and if we were having dinner or what on our cruise. I was very concerned at this point with their lack of knowledge of our trip- even though the invoice was paid in full 4 weeks prior, that clearly listed the details of the meal and everything! We worked out the details and moved forward. They did make sure to tell me that I chartered the boat from 7pm to 10pm, so if we were late arriving, and left the dock late due to that, the cruise would still end at 10. Upon arrival to the ship, everything started to unravel. We arrived at the boat at 7pm sharp as instructed. They were about half prepared for our group. The food was half set up. No silverware was out. No one was behind the bar ready to serve drinks, at EITHER of the 2 bars on board, one upstairs and one down. The first mate was working very hard and had a great attitude. He was very pleasant, and frankly I was embarrassed for him. He was really hustling, but they needed at least another hour to prepare. He was constantly running back and forth, upstairs and back down to man the bar. We had just gotten off a bus from 30 min away, so a few guests wanted to use the restroom. The mate had to go down in a hatch through the floor right between the food and the bar to “prime” the water pump so the toilets would work. One of the bathrooms was “Out of Order,” and the other was pretty disgusting. (see attached pictures). The boat looked like a Fraternity had just completed a day drinking cruise. Trash and chairs stacked up completely blocking a doorway. (See attached pictures) During my phone call to work out the details of the cruise a few days prior, they asked me where I wanted to go? I told them we were open to anything, we just wanted to see the sights, so she mentioned a really pretty bridge that had a lot of lights and would be very pretty for the guests to see. We never saw anything nice. Pulled a 360 more than once during the cruise, and never had any kind of interaction from the captain except for telling everyone to sit down to leave the dock and to sit down to re-dock at the end. Then he proceeded to tell everyone to “abandon ship” and to “get off my boat”. Honorable mention, the cruise docked and ended at 9:30, so we got shorted 30 minutes of time. This was a group of medical professionals who don’t really have super high or glamorous standards, but this was just bad. Don’t make the same mistake we did. It was not professional and not fun. Spend $30 bucks during the day and see the sunset with a bunch of other people and get a boxed lunch, don’t plan a nice cruise. Read more Written March 30, 2023
  • texastoast4 0 contributions 1.0 of 5 bubbles Tripadvisor is usually very accurate with reviews and ratings...they got this one wrong! Tripadvisor is usually very accurate with reviews.......they got this one wrong! I can't believe other people thought this was a good cruise. We booked boat for a private professional group with 40 people for sunset dinner cruise. We were literally embarrassed for our guests 5 minutes after boarding. It looked nothing like the pictures online. The boat is in rough shape. Outdated, dirty, old, wood rot everywhere. We had a few guests that hesitated to board as we approached on the dock. Second, the crew with the exception of the first mate/bartender, were frankly rude and unresponsive to most of our guests and seemed unengaged. Third, as soon as we boarded, there were no drinks or reception. The bar was closed and we just sat there waiting as the Captain shouted to us to sit down as we left the dock. Forth, the dining room was poorly set up and disorganized with no place settings or utensils set. Nothing like the pictures. There were garbage cans and supplies piled up in the little galley bar n front overflowing with empty boxes and filled garbage bags. It smelled like sour sewer bilge water. There was a row of a few chafing dishes lined up a single side table only. The food was garden variety early-bird buffet. One salad dressing, no dessert. Proteins were OK but I saw many half-eaten plates going in the trash. I saw several of our guests snatch potato chip bags from the untended galley just to get something else to eat. We admittedly did not purchase the full wine and liquor open bar option up front, but we were so embarrassed for our guests, we immediately gave them a credit card and opened a tab to try and improve the experience. The Captain did not talk to us or tell us anything during the cruise. No information, no welcome, no jokes or stories? We decided to take over the PA music system just to liven things up. The Captain did allow a few of the young women to steer the boat for a few minutes which was nice, but he was frankly rude and short to most of the gentlemen guests. When we returned to the dock the Captain shouted "Abandon ship, get off my boat!" We were not sure if he was joking or serious, but we realized quickly he was serious? We contacted the company privately the next day, and they basically told us we got exactly what we paid for! They were apologetic that we did not enjoy the dinner cruise but offered no recompense or compensation. We asked most of our guests what they thought, and they recommended we seek a refund. This has never happened in the 18 years we have done this with these guests. Certainly not the experience of others as depicted online and through Tripadvisor? Honestly, we felt this was fraud and sham? Beware. Read more Written March 26, 2023

  • S527QXsarah 0 contributions 4.0 of 5 bubbles Lifestyles of the rich and famous What a great river cruise! We made it a family affair with my mom, husband and daughter. The houses really are incredible. The narration is fun and I learned a bunch of fun facts, but it really Needs to be updated. The boxed lunch was really good. The cushioned seating around the boat really needs an upgrade. It looks very old. The crew was great, there’s plenty of snacks and they will keep the drinks flowing. Its an odd thing to float by and watch people golf on one of the most exclusive golf courses in the world, and you’ve paid to see it, lol. We did wave to a group playing and they did wave back, so that was fun. Oh, to be insanely rich. And bring sunscreen! If you stay on top of the boat and don’t continue to reapply, the sun will get ya. And I’m from Florida. Whoops. Thank you for a fun day!!! Read more Written March 24, 2023
  • jeanhC829HD 0 contributions 3.0 of 5 bubbles Smell We did the 4.5hr lunch cruise Easy to find the departure location, lots of parking. Lunch was a nice croissant with ham, turkey and cheese. Tomato, lettuce, mayo, salt and pepper came on the side. Fruit and cookie as well. Great views of the river and the homes along the river. The taped commentary needs updating they talk about Olivia Newton John in the present and she is past. The boat could use some TLC, paint and polish. This is very noticeable while boarding. The reason for three stars is there was a foul smell in the main cabin area. When we asked about it we were told they didn't know what the smell was maybe diesel, it was not diesel is smelt like backed up sewer. Suggestions to those that book this tour: Arrive early get in line (30 mins) go to the back of the boat and go up top. Be prepared to be outside because the smell on Feb 25, 2023 was unbearable. Unfortunately there is not enough room for all outside (on a busy Saturday) I would bring out of town guest and go again I'd just make sure to get there early to get outside! • H5799XOsams 0 contributions 1.0 of 5 bubbles Bitter Sweet I tried to surprise my husband for a valentine's day getaway. We stayed in A beautiful hotel. (Home 2 Hilton) very clean, great views & quiet. I planned a 90 minute boat ride around the St. Lucie River. It was too windy, therefore, they canceled and refunded my money. Very disappointing. However, we went out to the Martin County Fair and a seafood restaurant and enjoyed our trip. Read more Written February 27, 2023
