Olympus Tours Puerto Vallarta, Mexico

I would not recommend anyone to use Olympus Tours. I had a bad experience with them, the tours were fine. My issue is that I changed one tour for an other and paid for both and I never received a refound for the cancel one. They told me it will take 10 day to get the refound, it’s been Two months and I still have not receive the money. Every time I call they tell me they are working with the bank. I had request to talk with the manager and they denied. So I don’t recommend to use them, because they are not professionals.

I hired Olympic Tours to pick me up at the Puerto Vallarta airport, which they did, no problem and it was fine. However on my return to the airport, they never showed up at the scheduled time. Finally after getting hold of them, they came to my hotel, flagged down a taxi and put me in the taxi.

This tour really gave us a good overview of Puerto Vallarta. Especially liked our tour guide, Mancha.

We would like to thank Christhian Ramos of Olympus Tours In Puerto Vallarta for all his assistance. He made sure that we were well taken care of and answered all our questions.

The guide, June, was nice and so was the driver; HOWEVER, we were to be picked up at 9:50am from hotel...had to call twice and finally about 10:15am a rep walked to our hotel to get us and we had to walk about three blocks to a 'raggedy' bus with minimum a/c. June spoke more Spanish than English and I mentioned it to her -- she tried but we missed lots of info not knowing Spanish. Visited the boardwalk and church which I had done via taxi the previous day. The visit to jewelry store was a waste of time -- as they do in P.V. we were followed and hassled to purchase - sales guy even followed me to bus to reduce price a 4th time after telling me the first three times it was the "best price" - yikes!!! The tequila factory was not really a factory -- nothing is produced there. More a tasting and telling of the process. We had no idea the lunch would be two hours long and were not told there was swimming there (beautiful rock formations with water running over) so no swimming attire with us. Restaurant is 'tiki' style with chairs/tables on sand so don't look to cool off with any a/c. The stay at restaurant was entirely too long (a bit over 2 hrs) and unnecessary...was not impressed with the food (I had 1/2 chic and 1.2 beef fajitas)...not tasty at all. Tour was not worth my $50 and would not recommend!!!!! Then they tried to charge me $3 for a second coke. The driver was awesome steering the winding, rutted, dirt roads that had at least 20+ foot drops. Beware and check around and be sure if required, you ask for an English speaking guide.

Made arrangements via email for a private pick up for 4 people expecting to see a sign with our name on it Couldn"t find one, asked someone if they knew where Olympus Tour guy was they took us outside and found him, Last year they were waiting inside with our name on it. Once we found him we still had to wait until the driver arrived, so much confusion but once that was all done our ride was great and we got to our destination quickly, The airport is so confusing people coming up to you and asking if you need help beware most of them are time share people. I would definmitely use Olympus tours again

Olympus Tours for airport transfer

We recently travelled to Puerto Vallarta Mexico. We used Olympus tours to travel to and from the hotel and airport. We had no issues. Staff was waiting for us when we arrived and they were early the day we were set to depart. Everyone was polite and courteous. I would recommend.

I would not recommend anyone to use Olympus Tours. I had a bad experience with them, the tours were fine. Olympus Tours arranged the transportation for a group trip to The Four Seasons at Punta Mita and also day excursions. Olympus Tours was seamless in everything they did. Coordinating transportation for a large group of people all arriving at different times at the airport, and then doing it in reverse for departures is not an easy thing! We followed the directions as provided. We showed up at the meeting places and vans or suvs were waiting to take us to our destination. I was also impressed by the friendly and welcoming guides.

I'm not sure how this works in collusion with the tours that we booked (since that was another company called Vallarta Adventures) but we had such a positive experience with our Olympus Tours booking agent I HAD to review this. We interacted with Maxi (on a Wednesday I believe) and she was helpful, flexible and did not pressure sale us into anything. She was remarkable! I highly recommend working with her. Tremendous representative of the company.

Though you might not be abkento  cook the fish at your hotel, you can just visit to see the actions that take place in the market.

27. Puerto Vallarta Botanical Garden

Puerto Vallarta Botanical Garden

Vallarta’s Botanical Garden is very beautiful and is one of the major attractions of the city.

In this garden, you will find all the beautiful flowers you can expect to find in a garden and even more.

Also, the garden has lush jungle trails, a river to swim in and an amazing bits watching opportunity.

Birds are attracted to beautiful flowers, so be sure to expect birds with so many colors you have never seen before.

You can also take a bus from Aquacate and Carranza in the old Town.

28. Mismaloya Beach

Mismaloya Beach

Mismaloya is the main reason Puerto Vallarta is known in the first place. It got Puerto Vallarta into the Map of recognition.

It was used as a scene in the 1964 movie, “The Night of the Iguana”. Had it not been for this movie, the city as a whole may still be just a fisherman’s village.

The movie that made this city popular was mostly set at the Mismaloya Beach. Mismaloya Beach is just a quick bus ride away from the Old Town.

You can get to it by entering the orange bus that is heading towards Boca de Tomatlan.

The ride in the yellow buses is fun, especially for one who has never been in it.

The beach at Mismaloya is not so noisy. It is about 3 times more quieter than Playa Los Muertos. You can visit them just to enjoy the peace there.

You can also enjoy freshly caught fishes at any one of the restaurants at the beachfront. There are no basic washroom facilities on the beach and there is no WiFi. Sorry about that.

However, this should make your list of top things to do in Puerto Vallarta.

29. Tour the Marina

Marina Vallarta

You can get to Marina from the Old Town by catching a short bus ride that will take you down there. Don’t confuse it with the loading dock where most tour companies depart from.

There are two sculptures which is uniquely attributed to the place. One is a giant whale and the other is King Neptune statue. These two statues are situated beside Plaza Neptuno.

The Marina is quite a place for those that love shopping. There are tons of shops, trendy restaurants and other great options worth snapping.

It also has a Gray broad ward which is a nice place to take a walk. You can admire the huge yachts docked at the Marina while you take a walk.

30. Get Some Huichol Art

Football shoe , Huichol Art

The Huichol art is very symbolic for the indigenous Huichol people. It is also unique is some states like Durango, Jalisco and Nayarit.

The Huichol art is normally expressed through intricate beads works or yarn, this is used to make different art works.

You can get one for yourself at some shops, markets or galleries in Vallarta. It will serve as a souvenir at home.

You may find someone knitting it in the market. If you do, take a peek and learn this important tradition of the people of Mexico.

31. Tequila Tasting

Mama Lucia Tequila Distillery

Puerto Vallarta makes one of the best Tequila in Mexico. You may set apart one day to go on the Tequila Tasting tour all around this city.

As you go on this Tequila tour, you will be taught a thing or two by the chatty salesman on how it is made.

You need not worry about cost, it is quite cheap to purchase a bottle of tequila than to drink in a bar.

32. Shopping at Rio Cuale

Rio Cuale Market Puerto Vallarta

If by this time, you still have more to spare, just head down straight to the market at River Cuale.

Hope you know how to bargain? You have to do a little of that with the traders in this market when shopping.

The Market stalls normally open by 10am. so, once it is 10am, you can buy stuffs from tacky souvenirs to authentic tapestries.
