The Reputation Stadium Tour: Surprise Songs and Guests

Camila-Taylor-Charlie

The surprise songs, sometimes called secret songs or b-stage songs, they’ve become a hallmark of every Taylor Swift tour concert. It’s the time in which the Sparkly Dressed picks up the Sparkly Guitar (Sparkly Green in this era) and brings out a song from the vault. It’s a big vault, but somehow T-Swizzle has rummaged deep and brought some old cuts we thought we’d never hear again.

The surprise guests were rare but still amazing. Let’s not forget the amazing opening acts of Camila Cabello and Charli XCX.

What will Taylor Swift play at AT&T Stadium shows? 3-hour Eras Tour set includes 44 songs

  • Oops! Something went wrong. Please try again later. More content below

Taylor Swift will bring her Eras Tour to the Dallas-Fort Worth area Friday through Sunday.

Swift will perform 44 songs from across her ten albums at AT&T Stadium in Arlington with openers MUNA and GAYLE on Friday, and beabadoobee and Gracie Abrams on Saturday and Sunday.

The 2023 Eras Tour kicked off with two nights in Glendale, Arizona, and two in Las Vegas.

Following the first shows, fans realized the setlist includes two secret songs each night that have not been repeated at other shows.

Whether you braved Ticketmaster, or SeatGeek, to secure a ticket or plan to watch through social media posts, here’s what to know ahead of Swift’s North Texas takeover.

How long is the Eras Tour concert?

The Eras Tour concert lasts over three hours consisting of multiple outfit and set changes.

Swift wasn’t joking when she said “Meet me at midnight” in her song Lavender Haze — with the first opener expected to start around 6:30 p.m. and the show ending past 11 p.m., fans should be prepared for a late night.

J. J. Watt, retired NFL defensive end who played primarily with the Houston Texans, praised Swift for her athleticism and ability to perform consistently without a halftime.

“You can tell when somebody does something at the top of their game and is trying to do the right way for their fans,” he said in a video post on Instagram. “This is done the right way for the people paying money to come and see her.”

Taylor has 'reset' the surprise song list, which means anyone attending a show in 2024 can anticipate hearing a song she's already performed. She previously stated that she will only play each surprise song once during the tour, unless she messes one up.

There's also no rules for Taylor repeating songs from Midnights as surprise songs, which means fans may get to hear the likes of 'You're On Your Own Kid' and 'Snow on the Beach' again at some point in the future.

We'll update this article with every Surprise Acoustic Song – and every surprise song that she will play again – after every show.

Will Taylor Swift change the Eras Tour setlist to include The Tortured Poets Department?

Will Taylor Swift change the Eras Tour setlist for the international shows?

As of March 9th 2024, the Eras Tour setlist has remained the same as the U.S. leg. However, with the release of The Tortured Poets Department in April, things could change. More on that further down the page.

Fans attending the European shows might end up hearing Taylor perform 'Castles Crumbling' with Hayley Williams as an additional song during the Speak Now section, as Paramore will be supporting her throughout those tour dates. (Both Phoebe Bridgers and HAIM joined Taylor on stage to perform 'Nothing New' and 'No Body, No Crime' respectively on the nights they were support acts.)

After completing her shows in South America, Australia, Japan and Singapore, Taylor is now set to pick the tour back up in Europe in May 2024 and run through to mid-August, before returning to North America in November 2024.

Will Taylor Swift change the Eras Tour setlist to include The Tortured Poets Department ?

Taylor's brand new album will be released on April 19th, just before she embarks on the European leg of the Eras Tour.

We won't know for sure whether or not the official setlist will change to accommodate those songs until she kicks off the Eras Tour in Paris on May 9th.

It's unclear if she will add a new TTPD section to the tour, but it's looking very likely that Taylor will perform some of those new songs as surprise songs. We'll update this article as soon as we know more!

What are Taylor's most performed songs on tour?

Before she embarked on The Eras Tour, Taylor’s top 3 most performed songs are ‘Love Story’ (491 times), ‘Our Song’ (404 times) and ‘You Belong With Me’ (381 times).

Of course, almost all of Taylor’s most performed songs are from her first two albums. As the list goes on, the Speak Now bops, Red bangers and 1989 hits start to weave their way in.

If you’re wondering what Taylor’s most played songs from her first five albums are, here’s a break down:

  • Taylor Swift : ‘Our Song’, ‘Tim McGraw’ and ‘Picture To Burn’
  • Fearless: ‘Love Story’, ‘You Belong With Me’ and ‘Fifteen’
  • Speak Now : ‘Sparks Fly’, ‘Mean’ and ‘Mine’
  • Red : ‘We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together’, ‘I Knew You Were Trouble’ and ‘Red’
  • 1989 : ‘Shake It Off’, ‘Blank Space’ and ‘Out of the Woods’

Taylor has only had the chance to perform songs from Reputation on the Reputation Stadium Tour so far, but ‘Ready For It?’, ‘Delicate’ and ‘Look What You Made Me Do’ take the top spots when it comes to live performances of the Rep tracks.

Due to the cancellation of Lover Fest, Taylor hasn’t been able to perform Lover on a tour setting. Folklore, Evermore and Midnights will also be making their tour debut on the Eras Tour.

Taylor Swift at 'Jerry World': Which Cowboys Best 'Rep' Her 'Eras Tour' Albums?

  • Author: Geoff Magliochetti

In this story:

Dallas Cowboys

Will Taylor Swift bring a championship to Arlington before the Dallas Cowboys? Considering the city is partaking in a "friendly competition" to determine which American city fields Swift's biggest fans , it's certainly possible.

AT&T Stadium became downright enchanted over the weekend, switching its normal shades of navy for a lavender haze in hosting the lauded singer/songwriter Swift for three nights as part of her ongoing "Eras Tour" that kicked off on Mar. 17 in Glendale.

The final leg of her North Texas visit landed on Sunday night, capping off her fifth temporary residency at the Cowboys' dwelling since its 2009 opening. Set to complete its domestic run in August, "The Eras Tour" is a cumulative look at Swift's musical career to date, separated by structural acts based on aesthetics generated by her 10 studio albums. The stop at AT&T Stadium set history for the establishment, as she became the first artist to sell out the facility three times on a single tour.

After Arlington hosted a different kind of star, a look back at Swift's musical output hints she has more in common with her most recent gridiron hosts than would be commonly thought ...

CeeDee Lamb=Taylor Swfit

Swift's self-titled debut album, released shortly before she turned 17, was a mere hint at what was to come but a strong introductory outing nonetheless. Seeking to make her mark as an outsider to Nashville's cutthroat world of country music, Swift engaged in youthful feelings based on her own experiences.

The opening track sees her introduce herself to the mainstream music world through a hint of familiarity with "Tim McGraw," named after the long-established country artist of the same name. Like Swift, the young Lamb's professional career began with iconic names attached to his debut as he inherited the No. 88 from the big gainers of Cowboys past like Drew Pearson, Michael Irvin, and Dez Bryant.

While the debut album's popularity perhaps pales in comparison to her later work, it was an early hint that Swift was more than capable of being a headliner. Lamb quashed similar concerns last season when he was granted the Cowboys' No. 1 target duties: whereas Swift rewards such faith her backers placed in her with sold-out stadiums, Lamb silenced doubters with an All-Pro season that was anything but a "Picture to Burn" that yielded 1,359 yards and nine scores.

Micah Parsons=Fearless

Considering his play and social media prescience that serves among the busiest of active major athletes, the title of Swift's second album perhaps broadly defines what the Cowboys have gotten in Parsons.

As with her debut, the still-teenaged Swift uses colorful imagery to describe youthful experiences and feelings, albeit with a more elaborate, more personal. Invading the backfields of the NFC East is obviously far from her mind, but there are hints from Swift as to how she's adjusting to her changing world and leaving her teenage years behind, similar to the third-year man Parsons navigating his way through an NFL world dominated by offense. Such symmetry in Dallas could be gathered through realizing a seemingly-eternal relationship established in "Love Story" isn't meant to last in "White Horse" or going through the end of a close platonic friendship in "Breathe" (which would perhaps represent the Cowboys' severing ties with running back Ezekiel Elliott).

Like Swift (and his offensive teammate Lamb), Parsons has likewise spent the early young stages of his career with a sense of healthy reckless abandon that has set the tone for what promises to be a lasting career in North Texas.

Tony Pollard=Speak Now

Whereas "Fearless" focuses on the concept of happily ever after, a good bit of "Speak Now" turns the spotlight to the trials that come during or in the epilogue (on display in the matured version of romance in the opening track "Mine") Other themes include unrequited infatuation or wondering what went wrong in such connections, the tracks "Last Kiss" and "The Story of Us" coming to mind in the latter department.

All of it is to say is that if the Cowboys' running backs room was looking for a theme, it could do far worse than the tracks of "Speak Now," especially when dealing with the changing of the guard from Elliott to Pollard. Optimism carries an overarching, if not subtle, aura in the album and that's exactly what the Cowboys see in Pollard, brought back in favor of the staple Elliott on an expensive yet necessary franchise tag.

Swift left indirect warnings to Cowboys fans about instant infatuation, which many are now doubt feeling after Pollard broke out once handed the primary rushing duties  ... look no further than the aforementioned "Enchanted." But the Cowboys, armed with a strong support system in the form of a long-standing (Zack Martin/Tyron Smith) yet developing (Tyler Biadasz/Tyler Smith), might've taken inspiration from "Long Live:" a dedication from Swift to both her bandmates and fans, the latter having since adopted the title of "Swifties."

Brandin Cooks=Red

"Red" is hardly an acceptable color for Cowboys fans to wear, as their rivals in both Washington and Houston. While Swift let it dominate her aesthetic during the album's 2012 release, she hinted it wasn't so much of a color discussion but rather the intense emotions brought about by "the kind of tumultuous, crazy, insane, intense, semi-toxic relationships."

Cooks was a former wearer of red with the Houston Texans and it's safe to he's not interested in "Ever, Ever Getting Back Together." The offensive face of the post-Deshaun Watson Texans, Cooks flourished despite constant renovations at quarterback ... which, despite the Texans' lack of a Watson successor, didn't reach "22" but nonetheless proved frustrating.

Finally out of a brutal union with the Texans, it's time for Cooks to prove he's "All Too Well:" Dallas was desperate for receiving production beyond Lamb and already opted not to "Stay Stay Stay" with the names behind him, Dalton Schultz and Noah Brown. Only adding to Cooks' plight is the fact that his streak of four-digit yardage season was interrupted by tension in Houston.

Mike McCarthy=1989

Alas ... or perhaps fortunately, considering the team's dread one-win mark ... for any fans stuck in the middle of the Cowboys/Swift Venn diagram, "1989" is not a documentation of Troy Aikman's draft and rookie season amidst the first season under both Jerry Jones' ownership and Jimmy Johnson's coaching but rather her birth year and the late 1980s-style liveliness characterized by a prevalent synthesizer.

Instead, the album that Swift considers her official move from country to pop is perhaps an (obviously unintended) adept metaphor for the current Cowboys' head coach into playcalling. Opening with a hint of change ... "Welcome to New York" celebrates exciting opportunities ahead despite prior success, which Dallas is apparently hoping to reobtain by moving on from Kellen Moore ... energetic beats are countered with documentation of exciting, if not unsuccessful, relationships (the satirical "Blank Space" notwithstanding). If that theme hasn't defined McCarthy's time at the helm of the Cowboys, nothing will.

"Bad Blood" would perhaps be the perfect tune to describe McCarthy's highly publicized collaborations with Aaron Rodgers in Green Bay, but Swift's self-proclaimed defining track of the album, the unstable, tumultuous relationship tale "Out of the Woods," is perhaps where McCarthy currently stands. The quest to guide the Cowboys to their "Wildest Dreams" has led both him and management to take drastic measures. Time will tell if each side emerges "Clean."

Dak Prescott=Reputation

Swift left the public eye in 2016, with critics referring to her as a "snake" due to an incident where she reportedly lied about her approved inclusion in a Kanye West single. While she has since been vindicated, Swift embraced such barbs in the creation of the electropop album "Reputation," particularly through a bass-heavy first act headlined by the tracks "...Ready For It?" and "Look What You Made Me Do."

A "Reputation"-style run is exactly what the Cowboys need from Prescott, especially if he could channel the vengeance-seeking top half. Adored during the early stages of his career in one of the most dangerous if not rewarding spots in professional sports ... the small but accomplished brotherhood of Dallas Cowboys quarterbacking being one of the few comparative settings to the American pop music scene ...  Prescott has had some sour on him as the franchise quarterback after he led the league in interceptions and once again failed to move the team past the NFC Divisional round last season.

But similar to Swift's prescience itself ... as hinted upon in "This Is Why We Can't Have Nice Things"... Prescott's multi-faceted talents might be taken for granted by some Dallas fans, who have enjoyed constant contention since he took over in 2016. Embracing the idea of turnovers like Swift embraced snakes when she took the "Reputation" brand on tour would obviously be frowned upon, but duplicating the vengeful energy she carried would help restore faith in his continued supervision of the Dallas offense.

Tyron Smith=Lover

If one's bringing the Cowboys into a conversation about Swift's self-proclaimed "love letter to love," it'd be foolish not to bring up Smith, by far the longest-tenured current Poke on the roster at a dozen seasons. It's perhaps a simple choice, but perhaps the most appropriate considering the album status as one of Swift's most personal outputs to date.

Whereas "Reputation" was a vengeance-seeking, narrative-defying rollercoaster, "Lover" opted for the lighter, more relatable side of relationships. It's an album of self-reflection and assuming responsibility (as defined in "The Archer" and "Afterglow"), partly mirroring Smith's duties of accountability as the Cowboys' offensive leader. The titular track, detailing an eternal, lasting relationship. could also reflect Cowboys fans' feelings on Smith, one of the few consistent silver linings in the up-and-down affairs that have defined modern Dallas football.

Trevon Diggs=Folklore/Evermore

The height of the COVID-19 pandemic did nothing to stop Swift's momentum, even if her notes weren't accompanied by the usual upbeat tones, pomp, and circumstance. With the world at a relative standstill, Swift kept plugging and plucking to the tune of the soft-toned, folk-inspired Folklore, which became a source of comfort to many in lockdown. Swift and her collaborators, such as Bon Iver, had so much packed into one album that couldn't limit their output to a single playlist. Thus, "Evermore" followed up as a de facto sequel to "Folklore" five months after the latter's release, with Swift referring to the pairing as "sisters."

Like Swift, the Cowboys provided their fans navigating through the pandemic with another brand of delightful surprise in Diggs, a second-round pick out of Minnesota. Diggs' arrival didn't come with the instant relief and gratification the prior pairing provided: supporters had to wade through an ugly six-win season (one where the Cowboys somehow remained in contention for the NFC East crown until the final hours of the regular season), the 2020 arrival paid almost instant dividends. After forcing four turnovers in his rookie year, he'd go on to enjoy a breakout sophomore campaign to the tune of 11 interceptions, leading the league. Diggs is now well-regarded as one of the most-feared ball hawks in the NFL, serving as an inspiration to incoming secondary defenders much like Swift's couple from quarantine inspired several others from both the professional and amateur levels to follow in her footsteps.

Ironically enough, "Folklore" features a track entitled "Seven," a time-jumping song of childhood that indirectly references the digit that appears on Diggs' Cowboys jersey.

Michael Gallup=Midnights

Swift's newest album, which debuted in October, is one built on "sleepless nights" and explores a variety of themes. Her usual staples like revenge and romance linger but a new look emerges through the universally-pondered query "what might have been," an aura firmly planted in the "Red"-inspired track "Maroon."

That question seems to define Gallup's Cowboy career, one constantly interrupted by injuries. For every instance of greatness ... Gallup has created lengthy highlight reels when he does take the field ... there's another ailment waiting to stifle any momentum. He has thus been unable to build on a breakout sophomore season, perhaps giving both him and the team a dreadful case of "Would've, Could've, Should've."

Self-reflection is the name of the game in the "Labyrinth" of the NFL Draft, but the case surrounding Gallup multiplies fortyfold when observers realize that the Cowboys missed out on names like Orlando Brown Jr. and Mark Andrews within the immediate five picks after. There's plenty of time for Gallup to get things right but midnight's quickly approaching, especially considering the fact that he's working on a $62.5 million contract extension.

All the Stars Who Have Stopped by Taylor Swift's Reputation Tour (So Far)

Below, check out the list of all the special songs she’s brought to the Reputation Tour B-stage. Luckily, Swifties in the crowd have been quick to upload clips of these rare live cuts.

“All Too Well” Glendale, Ariz., May 8; Pasadena, Calif., May 19; Arlington, Texas, Oct. 6

It’s no secret among Swift fans that the emotional Red stand-out “All Too Well” is widely cherished. What better surprise to sprinkle into the set list on the opening night of tour, then? “I figured…I would play this song you seem to request more than the others,” she said , introducing the beautiful tearjerker.

“Wildest Dreams” Santa Clara, Calif., May 11; Tokyo, Japan, Nov. 21

Swift once performed “Wildest Dreams” acoustic at a Grammys event , and she brought that raw, impassioned version of the 1989 song to the Reputation Stadium Tour B-stage twice — first in Santa Clara, then on the final night of tour in Tokyo.

“Red” Pasadena, Calif., May 18

The Rose Bowl served as inspiration for Swift’s B-stage surprise on her first of two nights at the venue. “Roses are red,” she mused . Cue an acoustic take on “Red,” the title track off of her 2012 album.

“Holy Ground” Seattle, Wash., May 22

“Holy Ground” is all about romanticizing the time you’ve shared with someone — and an excellent selection to surprise an audience full of longtime, loyal fans with. “Tonight I’m gonna dance for all that we’ve been through,” she sings. “But I don’t wanna dance if I’m not dancing with you.”

“Teardrops on My Guitar” Denver, Colo., May 25

Swift’s second single, released over a decade ago in 2007, is one she admitted  she hasn’t played “in 100 years.” The singer-songwriter went back to basics with an acoustic performance of her song about unrequited high school love, and the crowd sang along to every sentimental word.

“Our Song” Chicago, June 1

Kicking it back to country, Swift surprised her fans on the Chicago B-stage with “Our Song,” her third single off her debut album. Based on this clip, the classic from her canon had just about everyone singing along. Will she “play it again”?

“22” Chicago, June 2; Foxborough, Mass., July 26; Sydney, Australia, Nov. 2

Swift’s friend Martha Hunt says she’s the one who suggested “22” as the surprise song on night two in Chicago, and Swift credited the enthusiastic crowd at her first night in Foxborough for her decision to perform it again. It’s not every day that you get “22” acoustic, but Swifties got it three times so far on this tour, the most recent of which came during a rain-heavy performance in Sydney.

“I Knew You Were Trouble” Manchester, England, June 8

It’s unlikely that the Manchester crowd of Swifties did not know the lyrics to “I Knew You Were Trouble,” but the pop star offered some advice anyway: “Even if you don’t know the words, it’s kind of easy to remember this one part.” She led them in a practice round of the post-chorus “oh, oh!” and went on to deliver an acoustic rendition of the frenetic tune.

“I Don’t Wanna Live Forever” Manchester, England, June 9

Those who attended the second Taylor Swift stadium show in Manchester were in for a treat: a rare live performance of “I Don’t Wanna Live Forever,” Swift’s 50 Shades  duet with Zayn .

Playing “Mean” live is a sure crowd-pleaser, and Swift did just that at the first of two headlining shows in Dublin. Although the song was a mainstay back in her days touring in support of Speak Now and Red , this date marked the debut of “Mean” seeing the Reputation Stadium Tour stage.

“How You Get the Girl” Dublin, Ireland, June 16

“If you want to sing along, that would be absolutely glorious,” Swift encouraged the crowd at her second night at Croke Park. She then smiled her way through a rare, acoustic performance of the 1989 track.

“So It Goes…” London, England, June 22

Reputation album track “So It Goes…” has been noticeably absent from this tour’s set list, making Swift’s surprise addition to her Wembley Stadium set all the more special. With this acoustic treat, she perhaps hinted at what the song sounded like when she first wrote it.

“Fifteen” London, England, June 23

June 23 marked Swift’s fifteenth show on the Reputation Stadium Tour, so what better song to play? The country-pop  Fearless single was an early hit for her — and based on the crowd’s reaction, it’s still holds a place in fans’ hearts.

“Mine” Louisville, Ky., June 30

The opening track of Speak Now wrapped the June leg of Swift’s Reputation Stadium Tour. “I haven’t played this song in so many years, and you’re singing it so loud,” she beamed from the B-stage.

I was WEAK when #TaylorSwift sang MINE at #repTourLouisville #reptour pic.twitter.com/AFrxTNOVgF — EMY (@MusicOfEmy) July 1, 2018

Keeping in the tradition of Speak Now , Swift moved onto the pop-country album’s second track at her next tour stop. The song, about a classic crush that’s so clearly a “bad idea,” was written when the singer was a teenager but held its own in a 2018 Taylor Swift set list.

“State of Grace” Landover, Md., July 10

For the first of two nights in Maryland, Swift harkened back to the “golden age of something good and right and real” and the acoustic guitar beginnings of “State of Grace,” the opening track on her Red album.

“Haunted” Landover, Md., July 11

The second Reputation Tour set in Maryland delivered a rare, understated performance of “Haunted,” a Speak Now track that hasn’t seen Swift’s stage much since 2011/2012 — back when she gave it a decidedly more dramatic treatment.

“Never Grow Up” Philadelphia, Pa., July 13

Before strumming the chords of “Never Grow Up,”  Swift explained that she’d just gone back to visit the nearby farm where she had actually grown up. “I got especially emotional when I walked into my old bedroom,” she admitted. She hinted she’d be playing the song with picture of herself in her childhood room on Instagram  earlier in the day, and the performance that night took on an especially sentimental tone.

“Treacherous”  Philadelphia, Pa., July 14

After some technical difficulties that temporarily left Swift stranded at the main stage rather than floating in her cage over the crowd to the B-stage, she bestowed fans with a highlight from her Red album.

“Babe” Cleveland, Ohio, July 17

A concert in Cleveland brought Swift’s live debut of “Babe,” the Red -era-turned-2018-country-single she penned (with Train’s Pat Monahan) that got away — er, was given away, to Sugarland for their latest album.

“Welcome to New York” East Rutherford, N.J., July 20

It was Swift’s first show in New Jersey on this tour, but she gave a little shout-out to its neighbor New York with her ode to the loud sounds, bright lights and new beginnings that the big city brings.

“Fearless” East Rutherford, N.J., July 21

There’s somethin’ bout the way a Taylor Swift show feels in the rain, or so they say. Singing in the rain, Swift happily performed the title track of her second album while dancing “in a storm in my best dress, fearless.”

“Enchanted” East Rutherford, N.J., July 22

During her third night at MetLife Stadium, Swift left fans “Enchanted” as they sang along to her acoustic take on the  Speak Now  track. First released in 2010, the song has rarely seen the live stage since 2011, when she was on her tour in support of that album.

“Change” Foxborough, Mass., July 27

At the second of three nights playing Gillette Stadium — which is where Swift had her first-ever stadium concert, back on the Fearless Tour in 2010 — the star of the show dedicated “Change” to a fan she’d met at her meet and greet. That fan had told the singer how much the song meant to her, and it just so happened that Swift had already been thinking of adding it into her set. The stars aligned on this Friday night as the crowd was treated to a song that hasn’t been performed live in years.

Swift whipped out another rarity as the surprise B-stage song for her third and final show at Gillette Stadium: “Ours.” This concert date marked her tenth time performing at the stadium, where she was also the first female to ever to headline three shows in a row.

“Out of the Woods” Toronto, Aug. 3

For its tour debut, Swift introduced an emotional second bridge to her acoustic performance of 1989 standout “Out of the Woods.” “Remember when we hit the brakes too soon?” she called out again. “Twenty stitches in a hospital room. You started crying, I did too.”

“Come Back… Be Here” Toronto, Aug. 4

Not only did Toronto get a surprise “Summer of 69” duet between Swift and Bryan Adams, but the crowd also got what was seemingly the singer’s first-ever live performance of “Come Back… Be Here,” an underrated Red  album bonus track.

So if we stop with all the drama for one sec: SHE SANG SO IT GOES!!!!!!! “A Place in This World” Pittsburgh, Pa., Aug. 7

Swift surprised fans in her home state with a performance of her Pennsylvanian-written song “A Place in this World” — a rare album cut from her 2006 debut album,  Taylor Swift . This special throwback quickly become a favorite out of all the unexpected songs Swift has performed thus far.

During the first of a two-night stint in Atlanta, Swift admitted it was the first time she’d ever performed an acoustic cut of “This Love,” which she once said was the one 1989 track she kept listening “back to, over and over and over again.” In the interview, the singer added, “It’s kind of like hypnotic in a way, and it kind of is somewhat romantic and wistful and relaxing.”

“The Lucky One” Atlanta, Ga., Aug. 11

It was back to the era of  Red  at Swift’s second show in Atlanta, where she played “The Lucky One” on the B-stage. The song, about the highs and lows of fame, hasn’t been heard live recently, though it was a mainstay on the Red Tour.

“Invisible” Tampa, Fla., Aug. 14

Bringing “Invisible” to the stage in 2018 is about as unheard of as it gets from the canon of Taylor Swift. Not only is the song from the era of Swift’s debut album, but it’s a bonus track from the deluxe version of that album. She reportedly brought “Invisible” back to life on a Tuesday in August for a fan who told her the song helped him come out when he was a teenager.

“Breathe” Miami, Fla., Aug. 18

“I’m 99 percent sure I’ve never played this song live,” Swift admitted before performing “Breathe,” a deep cut from her Fearless album. The album recording of the country-pop ballad features vocals from Colbie Caillat, meaning this live solo surprise was a one-of-a-kind thing for fans to experience.

“Better Man” Nashville, Aug. 25

Swift says she wanted “Better Man” to “have its own moment,” and it certainly did — at the Grammys, the CMAs  and at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena, where she treated the crowd to a rare solo performance of the beautiful song that was written by her, but recorded by country group Little Big Town.

“Begin Again” Minneapolis, Minn., Aug. 31

In another return to her country roots, Swift strummed a pretty “Begin Again” at the first of two nights at U.S. Bank Stadium, the tour stop where she played the closing track from her Red album for the first time in 2018.

“Tied Together With a Smile” Minneapolis, Minn., Sept. 1

For some reason Swift seemed surprised at the number of people in the crowd who knew the words to this “really, really old” song, found on her first album. “One thing I have noticed in my life is you can never judge what somebody else is going through, even if they seem like they have it all together,” she said while introducing the track that probably hasn’t been played live in more than 10 years.

“The Story of Us” Kansas City, Mo., Sept. 8

“There’s a song that I haven’t played since the Speak Now Tour,” Swift teased just before thrilling her longtime fans with an acoustic rendition of “The Story of Us,” a song she wrote about an awkward run-in with an ex for 2010’s Speak Now .

“Forever & Always” Indianapolis, Ind., Sept. 15

In what amounted to a passion-filled sing-along, the country-turned-pop star offered the Fearless  album track “Forever & Always,” a song she recalled writing around the age of 18, as her acoustic surprise on the B-stage in Indianapolis.

“Hey Stephen” St. Louis, Mo., Sept. 18

Swift rarely performs this  Fearless  album oldie from 2008, but decided to throw it back as she took to the B-stage of her Reputation Tour stop in Missouri.

I got a front row seat for “Hey, Stephen” and I cried so many happy tears. She really has been my inspiration since I was little, and I love her more than words can say. Thank you, Taylor — #repTourSTL pic.twitter.com/cGnKTJyRsy — h — (@vHannahGraycev) September 19, 2018

“I’ve never actually interrupted a wedding,” Swift assured the crowd in New Orleans, teasing the next song on her set list, the title track of her 2010 album. Before bringing “Speak Now” to the B-stage that night, the pop star explained that many of her early songs were written about imaginary scenarios.

“Wonderland” Houston, Texas, Sept. 29

“Wonderland” is a track that appeared only on the deluxe version of Swift’s 1989 album, and it’s one that Swift hasn’t performed live all that often. Still, she shouldn’t have been surprised that her fans would be singing right along with her, loud and clear.

“White Horse” Arlington, Texas, Oct. 5

Watch the clip below and you’ll see it’s safe to say most of the crowd at this show knew the words to the Fearless classic “White Horse,” Swift’s surprise acoustic song of the night. (Those at the show were lucky enough to get another treat on the main stage, too: Maren Morris joined the superstar  for a duet of “The Middle.”)

“I Knew You Were Trouble” Perth, Australia, Oct. 19

Swift harkened back to past times in Perth with a special acoustic performance of “I Knew You Were Trouble,” a song that was part of her Red Tour set list. The pop star played in the city back in 2013.

The surprise song tonight is I knew you were trouble. Can we appreciate Tays vocals though———————-??—- @taylorswift13 @taylornation13 #taylorswift #swifties pic.twitter.com/U7fGBxeusn — elainelovestaylor13 (@elainelovestay1) October 19, 2018

“I’m Only Me When I’m With You” Melbourne, Australia, Oct. 26

“I wrote this song when I was 13 years old, and it was a bonus track on my first album,” Swift said before launching into a performance of the track from her self-titled 2006 debut. The song is reportedly about her friend Abigail Anderson, and Swift later was a bridesmaid in her wedding .

“Starlight” Brisbane, Australia, Nov. 6

Swift brought out “Starlight” — from her 2012 AOTY-nominated  Red  — on her third date in Australia. She has previously noted that the song was largely inspired by Ethel and Bobby Kennedy’s young romance.

“Out of the Woods” Auckland, New Zealand, Nov. 9

Co-written by Jack Antonoff, “Out of the Woods” was the sixth official single from  1989  and later peaked at No. 18 on the  Billboard  Hot 100. Strumming away, Swift showcases her impressive vocal in the acoustic rendition of the track.

“I Know Places” Tokyo, Japan, Nov. 20

Taking another cut from  1989 , Swift most recently debuted “I Know Places” as the surprise b-stage track. The song addresses the difficulties of maintaining any sort of privacy in her relationships, especially with media outlets waiting at every corner.

Taylor Swift

Are you ready for it? Taylor Swift ‘s Eras Tour is finally here.

The 52-date trek kicks off Friday night in Glendale, Ariz., at State Farm Stadium with openers Gayle and Paramore. This marks Swift’s first tour since the Reputation Stadium Tour in 2018, as her 2020 Lover Fest was canceled before it even began due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Since then, Swift has released three studio albums — “Folklore” and “Evermore” in 2020 and “Midnights” in October 2022 — in addition to re-recording “Fearless” and “Red” (which both came with bonus tracks) in 2021.

Overwhelming demand for tickets when they went on sale in November caused Ticketmaster to crash, resulting in disappointment for hundreds of thousands of fans. The tour broke the record for the most concert tickets sold by an artist in one day with 2.4 million, and the Ticketmaster debacle even led to a hearing in Congress over the lack of competition in the ticketing industry. Long story short, those seeing Swift perform tonight are on holy ground — and the rest will just have to tolerate it.

See the full setlist for opening night of the Eras Tour below (updating live).
