If you’re new to ski touring, our team can assist you in selecting the appropriate gear for your adventure.

Safety is our top priority. All our tours are led by experienced IFMGA-licensed guides who are trained to make informed decisions in various conditions. For tours in avalanche-prone areas, we provide essential safety equipment and training. Additionally, we offer 24/7 support to ensure your trip runs smoothly and safely.

Preparation is key for a successful ski touring experience. We recommend that you engage in regular cardiovascular exercise leading up to your trip. If you have any medical conditions or dietary restrictions, please inform us in advance so we can make the necessary arrangements.

Our tours are designed to be as safe as possible. Ski touring activities are only conducted with experienced IFMGA-licensed guides who are trained to assess and manage risks. Certainly! We offer the option to rent any ski equipment you might need for your tour. Just let us know what you require in advance, and we’ll make sure it’s ready for you when you arrive.

No worries at all! Our tours are designed to accommodate all skill levels. If you’re a beginner, we can adjust the tour’s difficulty to match your comfort level. Just make sure to inform us about your experience level in detail so we can plan accordingly.

Our Sail & Ski sailboat tours and cross-country skiing accommodations are popular and can fill up quickly. While some tours, like those in Sunnmøre, can sometimes be booked last minute, we highly recommend booking as early as possible to secure your spot and avoid any issues.

The weather plays a significant role in your experience. The climate can vary depending on the region you’re touring, but generally, you can expect cold, snowy conditions, which are ideal for skiing. In the northern areas, especially above the Arctic Circle, winters are long and dark, offering unique skiing experiences under the Northern Lights. Coastal areas like the Lofoten Islands tend to have milder winters but can be wetter, affecting snow quality.

Temperature inversions are common in the mountains, meaning it can sometimes be warmer at higher altitudes than at the base. This can affect snow conditions and avalanche risk, so it’s something our guides monitor closely. The best months for ski touring in Norway are typically from February to May, when the days are getting longer, and the snowpack is stable.

Ski Resorts in Norway

Winter sport and the people of Norway is just a perfectly natural combination.

In  Norway,  most of the country is mountains and forests. These are the best conditions for going skiing. It is not unusable to see Norwegians in the capital walking around in January darkness and 12 degrees Fahrenheit, carrying skis like you'd have a briefcase. Everyone thinks it's normal behaviour to stand with skis at metro stops. It's simply part of their life.

Skiing in Norway

Norway always ends at the top of medal winners in the winter Olympics. In 1994 Lillehammer was the host of the Winter Olympics, and in 2016 Lillehammer will host the Winter Youth Olympics.

Today it is said that Norwegians are born with skis on their feet. It is not entirely true, but skiing is significant as a family activity and the number one winter sport in Norway. Most children start learning the skill when they are very young, and Norwegians rush to the mountains and forests to ski every chance they get.

As the above clarifies, Norway is a paradise for winter sports lovers, and the resorts here make your winter sport dreams real.

Norway's Ski Heritage

  • The word 'ski '  is derived from the old Norse word 'skíð' meaning 'split wood' or 'wooden board'.
  • Archaeological finds indicate that people in the Nordic countries have used skis for more than 5,000 years, which shows that the old saying ‘Norwegians are born with skis on their feet’ isn't that far from the truth!
  • Norwegian, Sondre Norheim , is considered the 'father of skiing'. He made important innovations in ski technology by re-designing and improving bindings and skis. In 1868 he won the first national skiing competition in Oslo, beating his younger competitors by a large margin. His reputation grew, and eventually made Norwegian words like ski and slalåm (slalom) known worldwide.
  • Sondre Norheim is also credited as the creator of the 'Telemark turn'.
  • Telemark skiing  is a Norwegian skiing technique that combines elements of Alpine and Nordic skiing. It is named Telemark after the region of Norway where the discipline originated from.
  • In the Winter Olympics, Norway has won 368 total medals, including 132 gold medals – that’s considerably more than any other nation in Winter Olympic history! More than half of these medals came from cross-country skiing and speed skating.

Norwegian Culture

  • A large part of Norwegian culture centres itself around being outdoors, embracing nature, and 'getting away from it all' - they even have a word for it;  'friluftsliv' .
  • Friluftsliv activities can include anything from skiing, hiking and kayaking to more peaceful pursuits like berry picking or walking the dog.
  • The concept is also tightly connected to  'kos'  (cosiness) - the unique Norwegian word for having a good time.

Norwegian Cuisine

  • Norway has some of the best native produce in the world. Fresh, seasonal ingredients are incredibly abundant across the country and its selection of wild game and seafood are second to none.
  • Game meats like moose, elk, deer and boar are special in Norway as many hunting traditions date back to their pre-Viking past. Out of season, you can find these meats cured in specialty shops or served with bold sauces on special occasions.
  • Catching and preparing  top-quality fish has always been a big part of Norwegian culture and cuisine . In the past, dried cod was their biggest export – now it’s mainly fresh salmon , king crab and cod . This comes as no surprise as Norway has the second longest coastline in the world with a total length of 100,915 km!
  • One of Norway’s most iconic inventions is the ‘ ostehøvel’ - meaning cheese slicer. It was invented by furniture maker Thor Bjørklundin the 1920s.
  • The most famous cheese in Norway has traditionally been the ‘ brunost ’, or ‘the brown cheese’ - caramelised whey cheese, quite similar to fudge, made with either cow or goat´s milk.
  • Dinner in Norwegian is called ‘ middag ’, which actually means ‘midday’.
  • During your Easter ski trip, you may notice everyone eating ‘ Kvikk Lunsj ’ chocolate bars. This particular chocolate bar (similar to our Kit Kat) has been advertised as a sweet solution to providing extra energy in packed lunches whilst out skiing in the mountains.

Norwegian Adventure Company

The northbound voyage starts in Svolvær and the southbound voyage ends here. Svolvær is the capital of Lofoten with approx. 4400 inhabitants and the airport just 10 minutes outside the city centre. From this base we are in close proximity to some of the finest peak hiking mountains in Lofoten including – Blåtind, Rundfjellet, Torskman, Sautetind, Pilan, Kvittind and Geitgaljartind.

Norwegian Adventure Company

Andørja og Rolla

Andørja is Northern Europe's most mountainous island, with 20 peaks over 1000 metres. Langlitinden at 1277 metres is the highest mountain. Andørja and Rolla offer fantastic skiing that starts and ends at the shoreline. The islands are just 30 minutes outside Harstad in Ibestad municipality.

Norwegian Adventure Company

Norway's second largest island. The scenery here is varied with incredible high mountains, deep fjords and beautiful beaches. The possibilities for summit trips in summer and winter are second to none. The highest point is Breitinden at 1001 metres above sea level.

Norwegian Adventure Company

Kvaløya is located just outside Tromsø and is an island with a superb, mostly mountainous, landscape. Kvaløya is almost divided into three parts by the Ersfjorden and Kaldfjorden fjords. The highest mountain is Store Blåmann at 1044 metres above sea level.

The Arctic Haute Route runs along the Atlantic coast between Lofoten and Tromsø, dropping anchor at the best islands for summit tours in Arctic & Coastal Norway. Sailing aboard the magnificent M/S Sjøveien expedition ship that operated in Greenland and Svalbard in the past.

We sail to small places that larger boats can't access. Several of the destinations we visit have either no or limited accommodation or skiing infrastructure, which means we are alone in the mountains and make the first tracks.

Northbound route

Lofoten → Andørja → Senja → Kvaløya → Tromsø

Welcome to the most beautiful island kingdom in the world, Lofoten! M/S Sjøveien is ready to explore the coast of Arctic & Coastal Norway starting from Svolvær, the capital of Lofoten. In this picturesque fishing village there are many historical and cultural places to visit. If you only have a few hours before departure we recommend a walk along the quay and lunch with the splendid views from the jetty. If you want to experience more of Lofoten, tours and excursions can be arranged in advance.

M/S Sjøveien is docked at the Brekken pier next to Magic Ice and Vestfjord hotel, a few hundred meters south of the Hurtigrute quay. Check in from 18:00 and departure at 20:00. From Svolvær we are heading north, taking a leisurely sail into the Austnesfjord, to the heart of all classic routes in Lofoten where we anchor up for the night. Dinner from Arctic Adventure Cuisine is served at 20:30 and information - and guide meeting begins at 22:00. Get a good night's sleep before tomorrow's ski touring adventures!

First day of skiing! Breakfast is served from 07:30. In Lofoten and Austnesfjorden we use tenders to ferry guests to the base of various mountains. Alternative route options include Kvittind, Sauetind, Pilan, Torskmannen or other suitable mountains in the area. There are many possibilities and the days weather, conditions and group ability determine the chosen route.

The first day we plan trips with a difficulty level 3-4 on our scale up to 5. The ski touring hikes take 4-5 hours and are approx. 5-700 vertical metres in elevation. For those who want longer hikes and a faster pace, we can organise this. Independent excursions such as kayaking, fishing, sea eagle safaris, "vær-vandring" in Henningsvær or gallery visits to Lofotens Hus gallery og Kaviar Factory gallery can be arranged.

After a long day you can test the temperature in the fjord with a quick dip, or go straight to apres-ski and enjoy the great social atmosphere on board before dinner at 19:00. At 16:00 we sail from Lofoten setting a course north towards Andørja, dropping anchor before midnight. Ready for a new day of skiing!

We anchor in a fantastic fjord, observing the mountains we will climb later. Take the first coffee of the day on the deck and enjoy the view! Breakfast starts from 07:30. We'll arrange trips with a difficulty level of 3-4 on our scale up to 5. The tours take 4-5 hours, and are approx. 6-700 vertical metres in elevation. If anyone in the group wants a longer hike, we suggest that one or more groups walk for 5+ hours, up to approx. 8-900 metres altitude. This gives a combined hike up two or more mountain peaks, with a difficulty level of 4 on our scale up to 5.

After the tour we return to our floating lodge and enjoy apres-ski with a local snack before dinner at 19:00.

During the afternoon we set sail to the north and, if we are lucky, get to experience the northern Lights. We drop anchor off Kvaløya just before midnight.

Breakfast is served from 07:30. Today's tours are organised based on the current weather and snow conditions. Our guides tailor make tours, dependent upon ability, for new beginners through to highly experienced skiers.

Alternatively go straight for after-ski and enjoy a local snack along with the good atmosphere onboard before dinner at 19:00. At 16:00 we sail south and arrive in Kvaløya at approx. 23:00. With luck, we'll experience the Northern Lights on the journey!

Your final day starts in spectacular fashion with a ski tour on Kvaløya. The guides organise tours that are right for you based on the day's weather and conditions. We take tenders to the shore, and immediately begin the summit treks from the shoreline.

Comfortable and unique expedition yacht

The classic yacht M/S Sjøveien was built in 1964 in Bergen and completely renovated in 2017. The yacht is 145 feet (44 metres) and very spacious with 8 large and exclusive cabins with all facilities. The yacht is registered for 12 guests.

The yacht has a large lounge area on the upper deck for dining and socialising, as well as plenty of space on the deck. The bridge is open to guests for a coffee and a chat with the captain. To quickly bring guests to shore, we have two fast-moving Zodiacs and a crane.

Deck plan and cabins

Onboard the yacht you will find the following cabin categories:

Red : Double cabin (1 and 2) on upper deck with window and double bed. Yellow : Twin cabins (3 and 4) on main deck with window and two single beds. Blue : Twin cabins (5, 6, 7 and 8) on lower deck with portholes and two single beds.

All cabins have their own bathroom facilities. Unfortunately, we don’t have single cabins, but use a twin cabin at a reduced rate as an alternative.

Click on the images below for more information about the different cabin options.

Double cabin 1 with double bed (upper deck) – Norwegian Adventure Company

If you travel alone, we can offer Single cabin (twin cabin) for 39 000,- per person / 3 nights or 50 000,- per person / 4 nights. Contact us on [email protected]

Social, after-ski and plenty of 'hygge'

Imagine how incredible it is to sail into the fjords and to lie at anchor surrounded by the landscape of the next day's tour. Get up at sunrise and enjoy the first coffee out on the deck. Watch a couple of small fishing boats slowly pass by on their way to the fishing grounds, prepare for the weather and be on your way. In every aspect the Arctic Haute Route is a very unique form of Arctic alpine holiday in the north.

Being on an Arctic Haute Route voyage is much more than a raw nature experience with amazing ski-touring. The voyage along the Norwegian coast, gives you the chance to see some of the most beautiful places in the north. In addition, there is a great social environment and plenty of ‘hygge’ (playful happiness) where you can share skiing adventures, fun experiences and your "passion" for an active lifestyle with other like-minded people.

On a small, intimate ship you quickly get to know the others in the group, and after a day or two we are one big happy family! The Norwegian Adventure Company team are always available for any questions you may have along the way, and the ship's crew are attentive and helpful.

Arctic Haute Route – Norwegian Adventure Company

You’re in safe hands with our certified guides who are knowledgeable local area experts and you’ll certainly learn some new tricks. Every afternoon we serve local snacks from the region for après-ski, followed by dinner and local dining experiences from Arctic Adventure Cuisine.

During afternoons and evenings, light snow falls and sunsets are best experienced with others on the deck, where you feel the wind, weather and the sheer joy of being on tour.

How difficult are the summit ski tours?

The most common questions we get asked is how tiring and long our summit ski tours are and how steep the descents are. This is not easy to answer as for each individual there is a different experience of what is deemed to be simple or demanding. Our guides will always seek to adjust according to the group, but as it is a group tour a certain level is expected. You will be out ski touring 5-8 hours a day, the speed is lower than skimo, we want you to enjoy the views. For the decents you must be able to ski in terrain with 25-30 degrees angle. Avalanche risk, snow conditions and weather will determine where we ski. To try to give guidance we have graded our tours on a scale from 1 to 5 . Both Arctic Haute Route and Ski touring weekend is on level 3-5.

What to pack for the tour

Pack your ski gear in a large ski bag where you also have room for boots, helmets, skis, etc., and a large North Face bag (waterproof 100-140 L is recommended) for the rest of your gear and clothing. You can take the hiking bag and any boots on board the aircraft.

Bring mountain gear and clothing for three days of trips, and casual outfits for travel, dinner and social occasions. The atmosphere on board is relaxed and the cabins are small, so make a capsule collection and leave your fancy clothes at home!

A fantastic experience of the North - also on the plate!

Gutsy, honest, uncomplicated and truly north norwegian..

As an adventure company, we want you to experience some of the best world-class local produce that Arctic & Coastal Norway has to offer.

Based on this, we have developed the Arctic Adventure Cuisine dining experience in collaboration with Bocuse d 'Or chef Gunnar Hvarnes. In the menu we have specialties from more than 30 small and large local producers from the areas between Lofoten, Tromsø. and Finnmark.

The special thing about the Arctic climate is that it’s very cold, so everything grows slower. It gives the food a more distinct taste. Fredrik Lundgren, Chef on Arctic Haute Route

New Nordic style

Arctic Adventure Cuisine showcases some of the really great ingredients the region has to offer - from the deep fjords to the mountains and farms. Through meals served on the Arctic Haute Route, we will convey some of the fascinating, Arctic & Coastal Norway culture and traditions, but presented in a New-Nordic style.

The menu is developed by one of Norway's foremost culinary experts, Gunnar Hvarnes, and prepared by some of the country's most talented young chefs. In creating this we hope you will have a wonderful experience of the north - also on the plate!

Some of our guests have concerns about security and safety factors; avalanche risk, danger in steep terrain, professionalism of the guides, general risk assessment of the trips and whether they can expect to be seasick. Below you will find information about these aspects of the trip.

Safety first. Always.

Our guides on board are certified, with a great deal of experience. They are all professionals who guide hundreds of tours throughout the year, and have mastered the art in tailoring tours to suit different levels; from beginners to high level skiers.

The safety of our guests on tour is paramount. We focus on the joy of adventuring safely. Our goal is for you to have a wonderful ski-tour experience, with magnificent views and spectacular skiing from mountain to shoreline.

Mountains and routes are always chosen based on the current weather, snow and wind conditions, along with the guests' skiing ability and physical fitness level.

Our certified guides are highly qualified professionals with extensive knowledge of the mountain ranges that surround the coast of Arctic & Coastal Norway. All guides are mountain experts; skiing, climbing, glacier walking and handling of equipment. They are safety and avalanche trained according to international standards for mountain guides.

The guides are keen to share their knowledge and expertise about snow conditions, mountains and routes with the guests along the way, and are happy to discuss their evaluations. With certified guides controlling the tour risk assessment, it will be easier for our guests to enjoy views, scenery and free riding in the North.

Sea sickness

If you have concerns about being seasick, we can reassure you that we sail close to land and rarely in open sea areas for most of the voyage. In our experience guest seasickness has been limited to being very minimal, if at all. If any of our guests should still experience discomfort, we always have sea sickness tablets available on board.

Tours for different ability levels

Our certified guides facilitate tours for all levels of ability - from beginner and advanced to highly skilled summit tour enthusiasts. Our guides conduct meetings every night, going through maps, snow conditions and possible mountain options for the next day's tours with guests.

Norway Ski Holidays

The birthplace of skiing, norway ski holidays are our top choice for families and beginners, while the fjords and frozen lakes are simply stunning..

Norway’s passion for snow sports makes it a superb winter holiday destination. With a ski heritage that dates back more than 4,000 years, they’ve won more gold medals in the Winter Olympics than any other nation.

Uncrowded and unintimidating, the slopes are ideal for beginners and intermediates, while the fjords and frozen lakes create a magical backdrop. If you’re venturing off-piste, the snow is often untracked and the conditions in Gausta , Norefjell , Myrkdalen and Voss are particularly good.

For families, the English-speaking ski schools and well-planned ski villages are some of the best in Europe. Geilo and Beitostølen are long-standing favourites among the parents in our team, who find Norway’s fantastic non-ski activities invaluable for keeping everyone entertained - from dog-sledding to snow rafting, there’s something for all ages.

From November to May, Norway’s conditions are so reliable that many resorts offer a snow guarantee - they’ll refund your lift pass if there isn’t enough coverage, making it a great late-season option. And if you’re visiting Geilo or Voss, we definitely recommend taking the train - one of the world’s most scenic journeys, the Oslo to Bergen railway stops in both resorts.

For tips from our team on where to ski and stay in Norway, read our blog on The Best Ski Resorts in Norway .

Andy H - Headshot

"Norway is perfect for beginners and intermediates, with its wide, confidence-boosting terrain, while more experienced skiers can venture off-piste or hit the terrain parks. The relatively short flight makes weekend skiing possible, with most resorts served by good connections to and from the airport."

Incredible Winter Experiences in Norway

Make your Norway ski holiday extra special with our tailor-made experiences.

The ultimate beginner's guide to ski touring

Get tips from the experts on how to begin your ski touring adventure. It's great fun, as long as you know how to stay safe and how to use your equipment.

Your new favourite hobby

"Ski touring gives you an amazing feeling. The nature experience, combined with self mastery and a fun ride down the mountain, makes it unique," says Markus Landrø, a ski touring enthusiast who works as an avalanche forecaster in the Norwegian Water Resources and Energy Directorate (NVE).

Ski touring is really up-and-coming in Norway . You have probably noticed it on social media too – people love to post selfies taken in front of incredible views, such as high peaks and ocean views in the north, the fjords of Fjord Norway or the magical landscape of the Jotunheimen mountains.

Many people long for the satisfying feeling of making it up to the snowy peaks on their own, without the aid of a ski lift, before being rewarded with the long ride down in pristine powder snow afterwards. It might sound hard, but it's actually achievable for most people, as long as you have some experience with skiing and are in good shape.

The most important thing to remember, if you want to try ski touring, is safety . Behind each glossy picture on social media lies plenty of hard work, preparation, and knowledge about avalanches, all of which are critical to ensuring a safe and fun tour.

"It's one thing to be in good shape, but you also have to have knowledge about the equipment and how to use it. The weather in Norway is also a factor — it can change quickly," says Markus.

The danger of avalanches must never be underestimated. Every year, someone dies in an avalanche in the Norwegian mountains.

Watch the series Behind the picture , to get an inside look at how to prepare for ski touring, and how to ensure a safer and fun ride, and scroll below for the expert's best tips.

Ski touring requires some preparation, but it's worth it! Get started with these seven tips for beginners– you might just find yourself a new hobby.

1. Use a local guide

As a beginner, the easiest thing you can do to ensure a safe trip is to go with a local guide. The guides have expert knowledge about the area and the snow and weather conditions in the mountains, and will help you pick a tour suited to your skill level. In addition, they know how to use the equipment needed, and can help you along the way. Look for the UIAGM logo for qualified guides .

"Those with more experience can also great benefit from having a guide when ski touring in new areas," says Markus.

The coastal climate and local variations in Norway make the snow and weather conditions different from other places, such as the Alps. Keep in mind that the weather can change quickly and that the conditions may differ from place to place – all depending on where in Norway you go ski touring.

2. Visit varsom.no to avoid avalanche terrain

The avalanche warning website in Norway is called Varsom.no . Remember to always check the website before going ski touring. It contains up to date information on avalanche risk in a variety of locations. You can also download their app, Varsom, from App store or Android store , to have the avalanche forecast right in your pocket! The app displays avalanche terrain, including where avalanches can break loose and the path the it may take.

There are three rules you should follow :

  • The safest thing is to avoid terrain steeper than 30 degrees.
  • Keep a good distance to cornices – they can suddenly break off!
  • Practice using your avalanche equipment! If an accident happens, it's up to you and your touring buddies to save each other.

3. Get to know the equipment

Although you may have some experience from hiking, or cross-country or downhill skiing, you still need some new skills to go ski touring .

In several places in Norway, you can rent ski touring equipment and get an introduction on how to handle both skis, ski skins, boots, avalanche transceiver, and probes. A good tip is to practice using the equipment before your tour, so you know what to do before you find yourself high up in the mountains.

What about a visit to a mountain resort before your trip? Our resorts are a great place to practice, and some even have dedicated areas where you can practice using an avalanche transceiver.

4. Start off easy

You don't have to take on the highest peaks your first time around – find an easier, shorter route !

"Shorter trips can also be rewarding. Keep in mind, that you're both going up the mountain and back down," says Markus.

Are you starting to feel the pure joy of ski touring? When you're feeling comfortable with the equipment, and you know you're in good enough shape, you can start planning longer trips.

5. Pack well

Having proper clothes, the right equipment, and enough food is essential when ski touring! And you actually need a few things to get going.

In Norway, the weather can change quickly, so you might need everything from a t-shirt to a warm down jacket, and everything in between! Also, keep in mind: the nearest help can be far away when you are up in the mountains. That's why it's important to always make sure you bring what you need with you.

6. Agree on the goal of the trip

Do you have a higher skill level than your ski touring buddy? In that case, it's important to agree on the goal of the trip. Are you going for the nature experience? Is the goal to learn something new? Or do you want to find the best slopes or viewpoints?

"Having the same expectations for the day will give everyone a better experience," says Markus.

And remember: there's no shame in turning around!

7. Take a course!

You'll find both introduction courses to ski touring and avalanche courses in several places in Norway. A course will give you a good start, and it will make you feel safer when starting your ski touring journey!

Eleven tours for beginners

Espen Nordahl is an eager mountain enthusiast. While growing up, his parents and grandparents often took him on adventures in nature.

"My best tip is to use a local, certified guide who knows the area you're travelling to," says Espen.

What do our customers say about us?

I have ski guided with many guides and never have worked better as a team as I do with Lena.

Very good balancing the wishes for all participants, from extreme runs to leisurely mountain hikes.

They bring you up the safest route, and then one of them take you down faster than she drives a car.

Advanced avalanche course with TSG was fantastic. Merrick was great at explaining in was to make the information accessible, and very willing to share her experience and knowledge of the mountains. …Mer

I had the absolute pleasure of being guided with TSG by Merrick for three days (2x Lyngen & 1x Tromso). Communication was excellent, with both a check on our equipment, skill levels and desires before meeting. Additionally, providing extra gear (ice axe for myself) if required. I felt comfortable with our group, decision making and above all safety throughout. On our third day with Merrick she pushed my partner and I to ski some steeper lines and improve ourselves as skiers which I appreciated. I really enjoyed the continuous improvement mentality, and lifelong learning that Merrick exemplifies. I will continuously recommend this company to anyone that wants to work with positive role models and ambassadors for ski touring in and around Northern Norway. Tough trying to decide guiding company’s? Look no further than here.

I did the basic avalanche course for girls with Lena as instructor and I totally recommend it. Thank you very much Lena for all that I have learned, she focuses on the small details and on learning as much as possible throughout the course. Lena is a great guide and an example of strong woman guiding in the mountains. When I get more experience in the field I will not hesitate to take the advanced course with Tromsø Ski Guides! :)

Learned a lot and had a great weekend with Merrick Mordal from TSG on an advanced avalanche course in Tromsø (feb 2022). Merrick is very experienced and super cool and inspiring. Would go on courses and guided trips with TSG again and highly recommend other people to use this amazing, local guiding company ✌🏻❄️

I took a Ladies only advanced avalanche course with Tromsø ski guides and Merrick as instructor. I recommend with my full heart this company. What i really liked was that Merrick explained snow and avalanche behaviour in such a understandable and applicable way. I feel that my avalanche knowledge rocketed after this great course. In addition it was loads of fun! Looking forward to going ski touring with Tromsø ski guides in the future!

Skiied 3x guided days (2x Lyngen, 1x Tromso) with Merrick as our guide. Fantastic experience. I appreciate that she challenged us and taught us some new skills as well as shared her thought process and decision making while out each day. Easy to book with and communicate with as well. Lena was very quick to reply and helpful with answering questions. Highly recommend! We will be back!

Lena’s at TSG provided six days of ski touring in the surrounding of Tromsø. As an absolute fan of the outdoor and the mountain living in Chamonix I was after high quality and efficient training - this was exactly what Lena delivered! Communication and pre-trip planning was easy. Each day was well planned and made maximum use of time and weather. Lena’s teaching skills are first class and she is great company in the mountains. I was impressed with all aspects of the trip and the high quality of professionalism throughout. Lena’s absolutely adapted her level and advice to the level of our group. Really fun and interesting days with lots of skiing and lovely descriptions and explanations of the surrounding area! I will certainly be contacting Tromsø Ski Guides for our next trip

We did 5 days with Tromsø Ski Guides. The tours were highly adapted to us, what we wanted and what we were looking for. The guides have an impressive knowledge about the local environment, the prevailing conditions and where to find good, safe snow. We had so much fun, learned a lot about reading conditions and we were able to climb mountains and ski slopes we would never manage safely on our own. I can't recommend enough, Tromsø Ski Guides will provide you with an unforgettable experience!

I would give 10 stars if I can. First time visit Norway and I wanted to try alpine touring ski as our shore excursion. So glad I found Tromso Ski Guides, Lena, the owner answered every questions I had promptly via email as this is the first time we would be skiing on terrains that are not paved. Edda, the instructor, connected with us via WhatsApp prior to the ski day to ensure we know what to expect, which was super helpful. Edda was extremely patient as we are beginners and her guidance and encouragement helped us to finish this journey. I’m super grateful to have Edda as our instructor, she is knowledgeable, friendly, flexible to cater our schedule, and most importantly, fun to spend the day with! I appreciate all the help she provided and would recommend her to anyone who want to try alpine tour skiing!

Custom avalanche course with Tromsø Ski Guides. With the vast experience, knowledge, and enthusiasm from the guide we had two dynamic days with plenty of learning. I've learned a lot about snow pack assessment and risk management when heading into steeper terrain.

Did the advanced avalanche course with Tromsø ski guides. With a lot of enthusiasm, knowledge and energy the guides made us learn a lot about snow and rescue. They also managed to make the group bind together like rounded grains forming a strong community of great ski buddies! Thanks for this great course!

Basic avalanche course. Very satisfied with both the course content and the instructors!
