Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour T-Shirts Might Be Slowly Spelling Her Next Album Title

When re-arranged, the red letters are starting to spell out Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) .

Red Letters On Taylor Swift's Tour T-Shirts May Be Clues For The Next 'Taylor's Version' Album

You didn’t think Taylor Swift would let the Eras Tour pass by without laying a few easter eggs along the way, did you? Swifties already think the 12-time Grammy winner hints at her next studio album during the Eras Tour finale, but she also may be giving clues about something that’s likely to come much sooner: Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) .

During her performance of “22,” Swift has been wearing looks inspired by the iconic “Not a lot going on at the moment” tee in the song’s 2013 music video. On opening night on March 17 , she wore a shirt that stated “A lot going on at the moment,” spinning the phrase on its head. The following night, she donned a T-shirt that used the “22” lyric, “Ew, who’s Taylor Swift anyway?” Eagle-eyed fans noticed that “a lot” and “ew” were written in red, while the rest of the quote was in black, making fans question what that could possibly mean.

Given how Swift has indicated that Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) is her next re-recording via easter eggs in her “Bejeweled” music video , and her penchant for giving jumbled clues that fans have to literally spell out, Swifties immediately guessed that the red letters would eventually spell out “Speak Now (Taylor’s Version).” Low and behold, all of the letters fit. It’s also appropriate that this easter egg would be dropped during the Red act of the Eras Tour, considering it’s the most recent “Taylor’s Version” album she released.

Taylor Swift performs onstage during the "Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour" at Allegiant Stadium on Marc...

This theory gained steam at the March 31 show in Arlington, Texas, where Swift debuted a third “22” shirt that read, “We are never getting back together. Like ever.” The “never” and “ever” were highlighted in red letters, continuing to fill out the phrase “Speak Now (Taylor’s Version).”

However, there is an extra “v” that doesn’t fit into the album title, leading some to speculate that she could also be hinting at the re-recording’s release date. “I saw someone say it’s spelling ‘Speak Now Taylor’s Version November 17,’” one fan commented on a TikTok video .

There’s still a few letters to be filled in, meaning Swifties will have to wait and see if she sports a new shirt during “22” at a future show. The Eras Tour will continue in Tampa, Fla., on April 13 after a brief respite, which is likely welcome for Swift considering how the show comes with a mammoth 44-song setlist that lasts over three hours.

Taylor Swift

It’s no secret that Taylor Swift is the queen of Easter eggs. Since the early days of her career, the superstar has regularly planted clues, hints and callbacks in her music videos, live appearances, interviews and even the liner notes in her albums.

“I love to communicate through Easter eggs,” Swift said in a 2019 interview with Entertainment Weekly to help kick off her Lover era. “I think the best messages are cryptic ones. … You know, when you plan something that far in advance, you’re kind of just flexing on planning. That’s what an Easter egg really does.”

So it should come as no surprise to Swifties that The Eras Tour is no exception to their queen’s masterminded penchant for hyper-specific planning and eye for gorgeous, perfectly plotted detail — all the way down to the colors painted on her nails during tour rehearsals.

Taylor Swift's The Eras Tour Outfits: Then and Now

As the U.S. leg of the wildly anticipated tour kicked off, fans at the first two shows in Glendale, Ariz. — and later across the Internet, thanks to #SwiftTok — paid keen attention to each of the singer’s choices onstage. From her costumes to her choreography, and even the songs she included (or didn’t) on the setlist, nearly every detail elicited wild analysis and speculation for what it all could mean.

Below, Billboard rounds up an ongoing list of Easter eggs spotted by fans as The Eras Tour makes its way across America. Read on to discover what hidden messages and surprises many a Swiftie surmises the star could be sending from the stage.

The 'Red (Taylor's Version)' T-Shirt

During the part of the setlist where Taylor revisits her Red era, she dons a T-shirt similar to the one she wears in the music video for 2012’s “22.” In the visual, the shirt spells out “Not a lot going on at the moment,” which would go on to become a famously surefire sign to Swifties around the world that their queen was, indeed, working on a major surprise. (See: the one-two punch of 2020’s Folklore and Evermore .)

However, on the opening night of the tour (March 17), Tay’s shirt rewrote the phrase to read “A lot going on at the moment” in bold block letters, with “A lot” sticking out in bright red. The next night, the shirt changed to a spoken lyric from “22”: “Who’s Taylor Swift anyway? Ew.” This time, “Ew.” was highlighted in red.

One fan on TikTok thought the red words would eventually lead to an anagram spelling out “Speak Now (Taylor’s Version).” While the shirts didn’t make it all the way through Speak Now , Swift did, in fact, announce the 2010 third studio album as her next re-recording, out July 7 .

Breaking 'Speak Now (Taylor's Version)' Out Of Its Box?

Footage of Swift performing Reputation lead single “Look What You Made Me Do” piqued fans’ curiosity as multiple backup singers seeming to represent her many album eras appeared on stage trapped in giant plastic boxes.

Given the rampant online fan speculation that Speak Now would be the next re-recording the star plans to drop, special attention was paid to the backup vocalist in the box wearing a purple halter dress remarkably similar to an outfit Swift wore on her Speak Now World Tour throughout 2011 and 2012. As Taylor approaches her box, the star pounds on the glass along to the beat as the singer inside tries to get out. At first glance, the moment looks innocuously like part of the choreography, but many Swifties surmised that it could represent the pending release of Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) , which had been entangled in legal red tape over trademark and copyright issues until earlier this week.

Interestingly, most of the other singers-as-album eras are eventually freed from their boxes, but by song’s end, the Speak Now avatar and one other singer representing a mystery era remain stuck inside theirs.

Check out fan-captured video of the moment on TikTok .

Of course, the theory was confirmed May 5, when Swift officially announced Speak Now  (Taylor’s Version)  at Nashville’s Nissan Stadium.

'Speak Now' or Later?

Another Speak Now theory came in a reverse Easter egg. So far, her setlist is one for the ages — 44 songs from 10 albums over the course of three hours and fifteen minutes. But out all the fan favorites she performed at Arizona’s State Farm Arena during the first two shows, she included only a single song from 2010’s Speak Now in the form of album cut and originally planned title track “Enchanted.”

The absence of hits such as “Mine,” “Back to December,” “Dear John,” “Mean” and “The Story of Us” felt like a glaring omission, but as with everything Taylor does, the choice may have been entirely intentional. Plenty of fans theorized that the singer was purposely minimizing the attention of her third album because she could be on the precipice of releasing Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) .

The Light-Up Wristband Colors

OK, one more Speak Now Easter Egg for good measure. A week before Swift’s announcement that Taylor’s Version of her third album is on the way, she teased Eras Tour attendees at Atlanta’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium when their light-up wristbands turned purple at the end of the show, a color that represents  Speak Now .

A Manicure for Her 'Eras Era'

One day ahead of the tour, Tay shared a sneak peek at the rehearsal process on social media, coyly writing, “In my Eras era” alongside a carousel of photos from the stage. The last snap in the slideshow, though, showed off the star’s delicate manicure featuring a different shade on each finger representing a separate album era — sparkling gold for Fearless (Taylor’s Version) , shiny teal for 1989 , matte black for Reputation , and so on.

The 'Bejeweled' TikTok Dance

She can make the whole stadium shimmer! During the portion of the setlist dedicated to 2022’s Midnights , fans took notice when Swift broke into the viral “Bejeweled” choreography created by TikTok user Mikael Arellano, strutting across the stage with her dancers before twirling and doing the creator’s “twinkle fingers” move with her hand. Watch Arellano’s giddy reaction to seeing the dance here .

Taylor Swift Is Spelling Out A Big Clue For Her Next Album With Eras Tour T-Shirts

4 April 2023, 13:29 | Updated: 10 May 2023, 16:37

Taylor is spelling it out for us...

By Savannah Roberts

Everyone is convinced that Taylor Swift's Eras Tour t-shirts are spelling out the title of her next re-recorded album.

Listen to this article

We all know that Taylor Swift is the queen of leaving her fans Easter eggs, and nobody expected her to stop hinting during tour!

The latest theory among Swifties is that the 'Midnights' songstress has been trying to tell us which re-recorded album she will be releasing next and they think she's doing so via her wardrobe...

Is Taylor Swift Going On Tour In 2023 & Are There UK Dates Yet?

Selena Gomez & Her Little Sister Dressed Up As Taylor Swift For The Eras Tour

Taylor celebrates all 10 of her albums with The Eras Tour and during the 'Red' segment of the show she wears an iconic T-shirt from the '22' music video.

She's worn several iterations of the 2013 tee and each has a different phrase written across it in red and black, eagle-eyed fans think the red letters are spelling out a clue! Taylor really does take the title of 'Mastermind' to the next level...

Taylor Swift dives into the stage

Taylor has worn the t-shirt three times

The first t-shirt read, 'A lot going on at the moment,' a spin on the original statement tee she wore back in the day and has since referenced multiple times.

She then sported two more renditions, 'We are never getting back together like ever,' and 'Who's Taylor Swift anyway? Ew.'

Taylor highlighted the following words in red: 'A lot', 'Never', 'Ever', and 'Ew'.

It didn't take long for theories to crop up on Twitter on TikTok which made connections between these letters and the pop star's third studio record, 'Speak Now'.

Fans think that she's been spelling out ' Speak Now (Taylor's Version)' , unveiling it as the next re-recording from her first six albums.

The letters seen so far spell out the following: "_ _ E A _ N O W T _ _ L _ R _ V E R _ _ _ _"

However the theories aren't without their holes, some red letters have cropped up more than once meaning there's an excess of V's and E's, so either Taylor is spelling something else out or she's piecing together a sentence.

Some fans are scouring the tour for other clues whereas others are less convinced by the claims; the rumours may be put to rest during the musician's next concert...

Taylor Swift Fans Seemingly Decode Hidden Message In 'Eras Tour' Outfits

By Dani Medina

April 1, 2023

taylor swift red t shirt eras tour

You can't put anything past Swifties !

Fans have seemingly decoded hidden messages found in Taylor Swift 's wardrobe during the "Eras Tour" — because why would Taylor's outfit choices be anything but random?

When Taylor performs "22" on tour, she nods to her own music video with a white T-shirt that features a saying, "Not a lot going on at the moment." During her shows, however, the shirt was remixed to say "A lot going on at the moment." Furthermore, the words "A lot" are in a red font.

During a separate show, the shirt featured the lyrics, "We are never getting back together. Like Ever," and you guessed it, the red words this time were "never" and "ever." Lastly, another shirt with the saying, "Who's Taylor Swift anyway? Ew," has "ew" highlighted in red.

If you scramble up some the letters of these words, it spells, albeit with a few blanks, "Speak Now Taylor's Version," leading fans to believe that the "Anti-Hero" singer will re-record her 2010 album featuring hits like "Dear John," "Enchanted," "Better Than Revenge" and "Mean." To decode the message, let's assume that we're playing by Wheel of Fortune rules, where if you get one letter, all of the blank spaces corresponding to that letter get filled, pun intended. 😉

Taylor Swift's The Tortured Poets Department is here, but it could be a logistical nightmare for the Eras Tour

A black and white photo of Swift holding up The Tortured Poets Department, and peering through the transparent vinyl

Get ready for another Taylor Swift era.

The Tortured Poets Department (TTPD) is the superstar's 11th studio album and is being released around the world today.

It'll be dropping the second the clock hits midnight on the east coast of America, which will be this afternoon in Australia.

  • 2pm AEST : ACT, New South Wales, Queensland, Tasmania, Victoria
  • 1:30pm ACST : Northern Territory and South Australia
  • 12pm AWST : Western Australia

So far, we know the album is a whopping 16 songs (not including bonus vinyl tracks) and features multiple collaborations, including with Florence + The Machine.

We also know the first single will be Fortnight featuring Post Malone, with a music video dropping tomorrow morning as well.

Despite no singles being released in its lead up, clues point to TTPD seemingly being inspired by the five stages of grief : denial, anger, bargaining, depression and acceptance.

Plus, many fans have speculated that the album title is a reference to the name of a group chat Swift's ex was part of – The Tortured Man Club.

And while The Tortured Poets Department could very well set new streaming records, it also poses a logistical nightmare for Taylor Swift's Eras Tour: how do you include yet another album into a show that is over three hours long?

Below, two ABC reporters and Swifties weigh up the likelihood of how the megastar might adapt her sell-out tour when it recommences in Europe next month.

We could lose some songs from every era to make room

Jessica : This seems like the most likely course of action. To put things into perspective, the Eras Tour includes songs from nine albums, but their airtime varies wildly. Lover, Folklore and Midnights have at least six songs, while Speak Now gets just two. So this might be a chance to balance things out?

Georgie : It would make the most sense to me. I can't imagine a tour that doesn't spend at least some time on the freshest music. But, this is a unique scenario. You have an artist who is essentially doing a greatest hits tour at the age of 34 while she is still churning out new music.

If she does cut music to make room for Tortured Poets, it will be very divisive. Every fan has their favourite era. But, I think if she was to I would hope she cuts songs she has already toured. You have to remember she put out four (now five) albums since her last tour and I imagine it would make the most sense for her to give more air time to Lover, Folklore, Evermore, Midnights and TTPD.

Jessica : If you were in charge of Taylor Swift's setlist, which songs would you cull? I'd ditch The Archer from the Lover era so it ends with, well, Lover. I'd be ruthless and cut most of the songs from the Red era as nothing compares to All Too Well (10 Minute Version). But keep the Reputation portion as is! It's perfect.

What if smaller eras, like Fearless and Speak Now, got cut altogether?

Taylor Swift performs in a glittering lavender ballgown.

Jessica : I love chaos so I would not bat an eye if Taylor Swift dropped the entire Speak Now era from her tour. (But Enchanted is such a core memory for a lot of fans.) I know this might be a wild concept but there's not one song from her self-titled debut album in the Eras Tour (justice for Our Song!), so make of that what you will.

Georgie : I think this will cause a major generational divide. The beautiful part about the Eras Tour is you have fans new and old coming together. Taylor has been making music since 2009 and the Eras Tour has been a chance for people in their twenties and thirties to dress up in glitter and be teenagers again while sharing the new music with teenagers today. I'm a folklore girl through and through so I am hoping if any eras get sacrificed it's the older ones. But I can't lie, it's pretty special to belt out Love Story with thousands of other people.

Could we lose the two surprise songs for a few Tortured Poets hits?

Georgie : Controversial opinion but I would be ok with this. Although, take this as you want because I have experienced the Eras Tour. But the section is a gamble anyway. You never know what she's going to play and someone is always disappointed or their top pick is played another night. If you cut this section, no-one gets hurt. Maybe she subs it out for three best songs from TTPD?

Jessica : I missed out on tickets for the Eras Tour altogether so I was taken aback seeing fans who did score tickets complaining about which night got "better" surprise songs. You can't please everyone! I agree, this would level the playing field and take the comparison factor out of the tour… but I wonder if that uniqueness is a marketing factor as some super fans attend multiple concerts in the same city.

Sabrina and Taylor smile at each other on stage at a piano that’s decorated with painted flowers

Imagine if she just… didn't play her new album

Georgie : Don't say it or it might come true!

Jessica : I think this would be the riskiest option. Imagine the disappointment on the first night when the tour recommences in Paris on May 9. But some fans, especially in America, who witnessed the Eras Tour last year before this album was announced feel it's unfair if other countries get a different experience. But that's what happens with the passage of time!

Georgie : I see your point but you have to remember we're in an age where many people have watched the Eras Tour happen through TikTok and the cinema release. So is it really missing out when it's been inescapable for over a year? This could be a chance for the people who have waited so long for the Europe leg – who have basically watched the tour on streaming and all over TikTok – to have something unique and worth the cash.

Or she could just include the new album and make the show nearly *four hours* long?

Jessica : I think this option would please the most fans, but I genuinely don't know how she performs for hours on end each night and then travels through different time zones. Oh,  to be a billionaire with a whole team taking care of everything all the time.

Georgie : I don't see this happening. Costs would skyrocket and many stadiums have a noise curfew. That's new costumes, sets and dance routines.

Jessica : But I would eat up new costumes, sets and dance routines! A four-hour concert is outrageous, which makes me think she might very well pick this option. Time will tell.

Georgie : I'm obviously a Swiftie but when I found out about the new album and what that might mean for the tour I just felt… overwhelmed. I'm still processing the release of four albums and two Taylor's Versions in four years. And now she's putting out new music? It's simply too much! The concert is a marathon but if I did have to go to a four-hour show, I'd do it for Ms Swift.

The worst option: Swapping All Too Well (10 Minute Version) for the radio edit to save time

Jessica : Sacrilegious.

Georgie : The people would riot. Jake Gyllenhaal would be thrilled though.

Final thoughts

Jessica : With everything going on in the world, I think this is a fun problem to ponder, and an interesting one for Taylor to tackle. I wish her well in whatever form the Eras Tour takes, because fans are going to have strong opinions either way.

Georgie: I worry that Taylor needs a holiday but, as you said, she's a billionaire now so I think she'll be fine. I hope she tours future albums but I also support her having a rest. Go chill with the cats and Travis. You've danced in high heeled boots for two years.

When Does Taylor Swift's Eras Tour Start Again?

  • Oops! Something went wrong. Please try again later. More content below

Taylor Swift performs in Melbourne, Australia

Taylor Swift just doesn't stop. After a quick spring break that included the debut of The Tortured Poets Department , a highly anticipated release that turned out to be TWO albums, the "Cruel Summer" singer will start her Eras Tour again in Paris, France.

The Eras Tour, Swift's first since 2018's Reputation Tour, kicked off March 17, 2023, in Glendale, Arizona for a grueling 150 stops over 18 months. She still has 69 to go before the tour concludes in December.

In December 2023, Swift told  Time magazine that she began prepping for the tour six months before it began. "I knew this tour was harder than anything I’d ever done before by a long shot," she said. "I finally, for the very first time, physically prepared correctly."

The goal, she continued, was to be "so over-rehearsed that I could be silly with the fans, and not lose my train of thought."

Despite the physical toll the show has had on her ("I can barely speak because I’ve been singing for three shows straight. Every time I take a step my feet go crunch, crunch, crunch from dancing in heels. But it's the most fulfilled I've ever felt," she told the outlet), it's clear Swift—and her fans—are having a blast.

Will Taylor Swift’s ‘Eras Tour’ Setlist Change After ‘The Tortured Poets Department’ Release?

Will Taylor Swift s Eras Tour Setlist Change After The Tortured Poets Department Release 001

Taylor Swift ’s The Tortured Poets Department has already captivated the world , leaving her fans to wonder whether any of the new songs will pop up on her Eras Tour setlist.

Swift, 34, kicked off her three-hour concert series in March 2023 in Arizona, soon traversing the United States, Central and South America, Asia and Australia. The shows highlight most of her past albums: Taylor Swift, Fearless, Speak Now, Red, 1989, Reputation, Folklore, Evermore and Midnights . There also is a section dedicated to “surprise songs,” where Swift adds two new acoustic renditions (most recently, mash-ups) to the show.

Swift has been on hiatus since early March, weeks before The Tortured Poets Department dropped on Friday, April 19. The record, her 11th studio album, features 31 songs including “Fortnight,” “So Long, London,” “Fresh Out the Slammer,” “So High School” and “thanK you aIMee.”

Swift’s fans planning to see Eras later this year — the tour leg kicks off in Paris on Thursday, May 9 — have since taken to social media, curious if they will be able to hear any TTPD live.

“OK listen I NEED Taylor to add ‘I Can Do It With a Broken Heart’ to the Eras Tour setlist. … Just that ONE. … PLEASE. … It was MADE for the Eras Tour !!!!!!!!!!” a social media user wrote via X.

Another added, “I am so obsessed with Taylor’s new album idk how to survive the Eras Tour (if I actually go twice I might just drop dead afterwards).”

Will Taylor Swift s Eras Tour Setlist Change After The Tortured Poets Department Release 002

Since Eras has sections dedicated to Swift’s previous albums , it is possible that TTPD could get its own mini-set in the lineup. Not all of her preexisting cohorts feature the same amount of songs, so Swift could cut some songs in order to add a time for Tortured Poets additions .

Spotify added further fuel to the fire on Friday as Swifties noticed the streaming platform’s official video for “I Can Do It With a Broken Heart,” a TTPD track, features footage solely from the Eras Tour.

Swift’s musical director David Cook , who has also been featured on several of her past LPs, also hinted that TTPD songs could make an appearance on the tour lineup.

“Not sure how much I can add to the discourse other than this album is really REALLY good. You FEEL it,” Cook wrote via Instagram on Friday, quoting “Loml” with a mind-blown emoji.

According to eagle-eyed Swifties that captured screenshots, Cook also wrote, “Wait until you hear the live versions.” The addition, however, has since been deleted.

Of course, it is also possible that Swift will drop a TTPD single in her surprise song section.

“How will The Tortured Poets Department affect the Eras Tour ? Hopefully only on surprise songs (in a good way),” an X user theorized.

While Swift has yet to address if TTPD will affect her Eras Tour setlist, she’s given fans insight into how she picks song s for the acoustic section.

“This has become my favorite part of the show because it’s become very chaotic and it’s become a challenge for me to think of new things to do for every single city,” Swift told the crowd in Singapore in March. “And hope that I’m doing something that you guys might like. It’s been a blast!”

Per the Grammy winner, she “invented [her] crazy acoustic section,” to be able to play “as many songs” as she could way over the 44 staples at each show. Adding TTPD tracks there seems like an easy way to do just that, if you ask Us.

The Tortured Poets Department is out now and Swift’s Eras Tour resumes on Thursday, May 9.

How Much It Costs to Be a Taylor Swift Fan

T aylor Swift is releasing a new album in the next 24 hours , possibly two , which will bring her total releases to nine albums in the past five years.

Her 11th studio album, The Tortured Poets' Department, is dropping on Friday, giving Swift's fans yet another reason to get excited —and spend more money on the star.

Since 2019, Swift fans have forked out on four original studio albums (Lover, Folklore, Evermore, Midnights) and also four re-recorded albums known as Taylor's Version (Fearless, Red, Speak Now and 1989). Swift re-recorded those albums because manager and record label owner Scooter Braun sold the rights to her music without her knowledge.

But aside from spending money on albums, being a Swiftie—a Swift megafan—is no cheap venture.

Millions of fans all over the world have forked out big bucks to attend her The Eras World Tour , whose tickets in the U.S. ranged started at $49 to $499 (plus fees), as per StyleCaster. But most fans had to resort to grabbing their tickets on resale sites such as StubHub , where the average cost was $1,089 per CNBC, but they went for up to $11,000 , and even more.

It's not just the cost of the ticket to the tour that could break the bank. There's also travel, food, shopping, accommodation and Eras merchandise to take into consideration. This saw Swifties spend an a dditional $1,300 on average in local economies where they were attending the show, resulting in the Eras tour contributing $6 billion to the U.S. economy in 2023.

As if going to the tour wasn't enough, Swift then released the Eras concert movie exclusively to AMC Theatres and later on streaming service Disney+, but fans in some markets had to pay to rent the film on top of their streaming subscription cost, per CNET.

Tours and general albums are not the only way Swifties can spend their money on their favorite singer. They also have the option of buying limited-edition vinyls of her albums, or other limited-edition merchandise, such as bejewelled bracelets, sweaters, deluxe CDs, duffel bags and even a clock.

For her album Midnights, Swift released four limited vinyl editions that when they placed in a square in the correct order would make a wall clock. However, fans had to dish out an extra $45 for the mechanics to turn them into a functioning clock.

One fan told Fortune she "felt pressure to buy more and more merch each time there is something new, particularly when it's presented as a limited edition."

That pressure comes from the perception that those who spend more money on musicians are perceived as more "dedicated" than others, according to Georgia Carroll, a sociology Ph.D who graduated from the University of Sydney.

"[Fandoms are] hierarchical structures in which fans have their status elevated by participating in certain ways," Carroll wrote in The Conversation. "For Swift fans, these hierarchies are heavily tied to practices of consumption, including the purchasing of concert tickets.

"Within the fandom, fans who travel to shows, attend multiple nights, or have seats near the stage are labelled 'dedicated' and 'committed'... The higher the levels of sacrifice reported, the more someone can project to other members of the fandom just how big a fan they are."

The Real Cost of Being a Swiftie

Not all people will shell out thousands for Swift, but some will spend their life savings to see her show. Either way, we've compiled a list of the average cost to be a Swiftie in the age of the Eras Tour ( 2022 -now).

Eras Tour concert ticket: $1,089 average price.

Eras Tour extra spending (merchandise, food, travel etc): $1,300.

Eras Tour concert film in theaters: $18.19 plus tax.

Disney+ subscription to watch the concert film at home: $13.99 per month.

Music streaming service: $10.99 per month. (Spotify and Apple Music)

The Tortured Poets' Department (TTPD) Vinyl : $34.99

TTPD casette: $19.99

TTPD CD: $12.99

TTPD standard digital album: $11.99

Other album merchandise: Duffel bag ($75), bejeweled bracelet ($35), a $75 duffel bag, and sweaters and T-shirts costing between $65 to $75.

Taylor's Version albums average price : $31.89 (x4).

Midnights vinyl: $26.97

TOTAL: $2,687

The total was calculated with only one piece of album merchandise (t-shirt, $65) and the vinyl copy of TTPD ($34.99).

Girl in Red Says Taylor Swift Sent Her 'Very Cute' Handmade Paintings as a Gift: 'She's Just a Gem'

Girl in Red served as an opening act on Swift's Eras Tour last year

Not only is Taylor Swift a singer and songwriter, but she's also a painter.

Norwegian pop-rock musician Girl in Red , who opened for Swift on several North American dates of the Eras Tour last year, opened up to NME in a recent interview about receiving handmade paintings from the pop superstar in a sweet gift exchange.

"That was right after my first album came out and she reposted my album, and I was like, what the hell? That’s insane," recalled Girl in Red, 25, whose real name is Marie Ulven Ringheim, referencing her 2021 debut, If I Could Make It Go Quiet.

Todd Owyoung/NBC via Getty; Matt Winkelmeyer/Getty

"I sent her my album as a thank you, and she emailed me being like, ‘Oh my God, you sent me your album. I was just about to order it, that’s so kind of you.’ Then she was like, I want to send you something," she said of Swift, 34, whose 11th album, The Tortured Poets Department , drops April 19.

"She sent me some paintings and her vinyl, which I already had, but she’s just a gem, and she’s a very beautiful person," added Girl in Red of the "Bejeweled" performer.

"[Swift] made those paintings, and I got them framed, and I got them hung up because it’s her little flowers and my lyrics on there," she explained. "It’s a very cute little thing."

After opening for the Eras Tour last summer, Girl in Red reflected on the "really weird experience" performing to stadium crowds in an interview with DIY earlier this month.

"You just try to brace yourself for whatever’s coming. It’s not like I’ve never played a show — I’ve done 200-plus gigs. But mentally, it’s different," she told the outlet.

"It was 100% the coolest opportunity I’ve ever had in my life, and I’m so grateful to Taylor for thinking of some Norwegian girl she listened to. That’s really sick," added Girl in Red. "She didn’t have to do that, but she did. That’s why she is where she is."

All 11 of Taylor Swift's No. 1 songs ranked ahead of her 11th album release

taylor swift red t shirt eras tour

When you hear someone say " Taylor Swift " you may think of her fashion , her famous friends or those outrageous conspiracy theories.

But what truly makes Swift exceptional is her music. She is the first artist to have a billion-dollar-grossing tour . The first person to win the album of the year Grammy four times . She owns Billboard Hot 100 records for the female artist with the most-charted songs (231), most Top 40 songs (137), most Top-10 songs (49) and second-most No. 1 debuts (six). And those are just a sampling of Swift’s record-breaking success in recent years

In anticipation of Swift’s 11th studio album, “ The Tortured Poets Department ,” arriving Friday and poised to break more musical records, we’ve ranked her 11 No. 1 hits (and yes, she probably would appreciate the numerical symmetry to her new album).

11. ‘Willow’ (2020)

The wispy ballad from “Evermore” dances prettily with its spine of acoustic guitar and a lilting chorus. But, like many of the songs on Swift’s second foray into folk-leaning pop, it’s airy to the point of fluttering into the ether.

10. ‘Bad Blood’ (2015)

As the fourth single from Swift’s “1989” album, there was hardly anything to prove following No. 1 hits in “Shake It Off” and “Blank Space” and a Top 10 entry with the gliding “Style.” But the song, while gently biting in its contention of good times gone sour, is remembered less for its repetitive chorus and more for setting the foundation for the snarling “Look What You Made Me Do” on her next album.

9. ‘Cardigan’ (2020)

“Folklore,” the album that birthed Swift’s sixth No. 1 hit, arrived as a welcome surprise a few months into the pandemic's lonely lockdowns. The exchange of glistening synths from her previous release, “Lover,” to the soft piano and hazy production from Aaron Dessner and Jack Antonoff on this lead single from “Folklore” surprised fans. But they quickly embraced the new vibe as she retreated to a world of enchanted forests and moss-covered pianos.

8. ‘Cruel Summer’ (2023)

Follow along: The song resides on 2019’s “Lover.” The COVID-19 pandemic nixed plans to release it as a single in 2020. The melodic synth-pop ditty – always a fan favorite, and apparently one of Swift’s as well – resurfaced during her Eras Tour when it debuted in March 2023 and became a viral hit, returning to the Billboard Hot 100 in June 2023. The swirly, girly pop anthem crept to No. 1 to mark her 10th chart-topper.

7. ‘All Too Well (Taylor’s Version)’ (2021)

The much-publicized, admirably savvy decision by Swift to rerecord her albums so she would own her masters allowed her to release the full 10-minute presentation (aka “Taylor’s Version”) of the winding breakup ballad initially released on her 2012 “Red” album. It’s one of her most verbose, but with its vivid storytelling about making sense of wounding memories , the time flies.

6. ‘Is It Over Now? (Taylor’s Version)’ (2023)

Fans think the venom-spiked lyrics target former boyfriend Harry Styles. Whoever she's singing about, Swift’s most recent No. 1 that was delivered as a bonus track on “1989 (Taylor’s Version)” is a winsome marriage of layered background vocals and stinging words. “If she has blue eyes, I will surmise that you’ll probably date her,” Swift delivers with sarcastic precision. That the vitriol is softened by a plush melody hardly diminishes the verbal blows.

5. ‘We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together’ (2012)

Swift ascended to the top of the Billboard Hot 100 for the first time with this stomper, her inaugural slide from full country heroine to pop starlet. As she smacks back a paramour who tries to return to her good graces, Swift conserves her brawniest words for a spoken-word bridge that highlights her relatability: “Ugh, so he calls me up and he’s like, ‘I still love you’ and I’m like, I just, I mean, this is just exhausting, you know?”

4. 'Shake It Off' (2014)

A perky pop bauble that sounds slight, but is undoubtedly irresistible. Swift is so musically canny that she fuses ‘80s-era synths with a ‘60s-era girl group sheen and makes it sound unique. The song is not only an undeniable concert highlight, but its straightforward directive in the chorus still serves as a useful reminder on tough days.

3. ‘Anti-Hero’ (2022)

Her confidence as a songwriter clearly boosted from her poetic musings on “Folklore” and “Evermore,” Swift returned in 2022 with “Midnights” and its lead single showcased internal screw-ups and apologies with unflinching honesty. Shades of Kate Bush are insinuated in the dark melody, but the real hero is the ready-made T-shirt slogan, “It’s me. Hi. I’m the problem, it’s me.”

2. ‘Look What You Made Me Do’ (2017)

Swift has never dodged a fight, and she made clear on this searing slice of electropop that if you want to come for the queen, you best be ready. In a way, the song signaled a rebirth for Swift, who proved – as if she needed to – that the cute girl in the tennis sneakers was equally as capable as donning a snake-inspired cat suit and extending her claws.

1. ‘Blank Space’ (2014)

Swift’s l y rical mastery presents itself in nearly every song she’s ever penned – even a seemingly simplistic chorus in “Welcome To New York” is laced with knowing nods – but this “1989” standout best exposes her genius. The clip-clop beat, the staccato delivery, the seesawing between flirty (“I can make the bad guys good for a weekend”) and daring (“I’ve got a blank space, baby, and I’ll write your name”) are all wicked delights. But the song also contains perhaps the best line she’s ever written: “Darling, I’m a nightmare dressed like a daydream.” Swiftian perfection.
