St. Mary's Forane Church

This beautiful church traces its existence back to 835 AD and is known for its events, Friday Liturgy and educational institutions. Currently, the church is a world-renowned center of pilgrimage, where one can know more about the culture and lifestyle of the Christians. Alleppey Lighthouse

Edathua Church

This famous church is known for celebrating huge feasts during the month of May. The church is also popular for its Christian and non-Christian pilgrims. The Vicar of this Palli was Father Thoman Olakkapady.  Currently, the church is located close to the Mahatma Gandhi University’s St. Aloysius College which is built and managed by the church. Since the church is located close to the below sea level area, therefore travelers can enjoy agricultural lands and rice farms that are seen separated through the rivers.  The environs here are enchanting, with mud levees being used for separating runs which are nothing less than a highway or street that one would find in New York.  A massive shrine at Edathua is located close by. The shrine features architecture similar to that of the churches in Medieval Europe. Nehru Trophy Snake Boat Race

Held in the memory of Jawaharlal Nehru, this boat race is unlike any other boat racing activity you may have seen before. The Nehru Trophy Snake Boat Race, also known as Vallam Kali, is an annual competition that takes place every August on a part of Lake Vembanad. Alappuzha (or Alleppey) is a city on the shore of the Laccadive Sea in the state of Kerala. By Air – The Cochin International Airport is the nearest airport from Alleppey which is located at a distance of 75 kilometers and 110 kilometers  from Munnar. 11. Anjengo / Anchuthengu Fort

At a distance of about 12 km from Varkala & 32 km from Trivandrum, Anjengo Fort, also called Anchuthengu Fort is an ancient fort situated at Anchuthengu village in Kerala. Located on the outskirts of Varkala, Anjengo Fort was built in the 17th century by the British East India Company when it chose Anjengo to make its first trade settlement in Kerala. At a distance of 59 km from Trivandrum, Aruvi Waterfall is a picturesque waterfall located near Bonacaud Estate in the Trivandrum district of Kerala. It is one of the popular waterfalls near Trivandrum . The Aruvi waterfall is located in the thick forest of Peppara Forest Range. The crystal clear water cascades down the hill at a height of 4 feet. As this waterfall lies between hills and dense forest, the view of the waterfall is breathtaking. The area has been isolated and this nature's beauty is not much disturbed. The nearest road point to the waterfalls is Bonecaud Estate. The falls can be reached by a 7 km trek from Bonacaud. 14. Shenduruny Wildlife Sanctuary - Thenmala

The ancient capital of Travancore might be constructed before AD 1601. At a distance of 13 km from Pechiparai Dam, 50 km from Kanyakumari, & 51 km from Trivandrum, Thirparappu Falls is an artificial waterfall situated at Thirparappu near Kanyakumari. It is one of the Kanyakumari tourist places . The Kodayar River makes its descend at Thiruparappu and forms this wonderful waterfall. The river bed is rocky and about 300 feet in length. Descending from a height of about 50 feet, the spectacular falls mystifies the environment with its gushing waters. Polling official killed in road accident in Alappuzha

Alappuzha: A government official was killed after a speeding car rammed into his two-wheeler while heading for election duty at Kayamkulam here on Thursday. The deceased is Pullukulangara native Balu (42), a draftsman at Haripad Special Tehsildar Office.

The accident took place in the wee hours of Thursday near Kayamkulam MSM College. Balu's body is currently kept at taluk hospital's mortuary.
