If you are experiencing personal conflict with post-deployment experiences, we specialize in trauma recovery work and have treated hundreds of service & family members plagued by the effects of posttraumatic stress (PTS) symptoms with therapy tailored to the individual.

“Complex PTSD”  can arise if you have experienced repeated trauma, neglect and abuse. It is very important to work with a trauma therapist

who knows how to adapt EMDR and therapy to your specific needs. Treating CPTSD is a specialty of our practice.

Journeys Counseling and Consultation is owned and operated by Dr. Leo Mora, PhD, LMFT, a mental health provider for the greater Fort Cavazos and surrounding Central Texas communities. He is a Doctoral researcher, consultant and adviser for therapists working with complex trauma and developmental trauma utilizing EMDR and various treatment modalities, as well as, a trainer, mentor, and consultant for entry-level family life chaplain and master-level students and interns. Leo served with our U. S. Armed Forces for over 30+ years as a Clinical Supervisor and Marriage and Family Life Chaplain within the U.S. Army Chaplaincy Corps. Ms. Monica Tolbert joined in October 2023, combining her knowledge with Journeys Counseling and Consultation to become the only behavioral health group in Killeen with extensive experience specifically resolving trauma and complex PTSD.  She is a Texas Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) serving Central Texas with a special place in her heart for Soldiers, Veterans, and Military Family Members. She is graduate of the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor (UMHB) with a Master of Counseling. most recently she served as a Military Family Life Counselor at Fort Cavazos Texas. Our focus is dedicated to the specialty of EMDR, mindful practice, and delivering evidence-based, tailored professional services to all clients.

I graduated in 2017 from Northern Illinois University with my Masters of Science in Education in clinical mental health counseling and have received additional certificates in trauma-informed counseling (NIU, 2018) and drug and alcohol counseling (Auburn University, 2018). I have experience working in a variety of therapeutic settings that include university settings, community mental health, acute psychiatric care and crisis stabilization, and private practice.

Although I work with a range of ages and mental health concerns, I specialize in working with adolescents, teens, and young adults with trauma histories and anxiety.
