Drake announces world tour – tickets on sale this Friday
Grammy Award-winning and platinum-selling recording artist Drake has announced that he will be bringing his The Boy Meets World Tour to Europe early next year.
Following the success of his Summer Sixteen tour across the US, Drake’s latest live show is growing to global proportions; kicking off in Amsterdam on 21 January 2017 before heading to London’s O2 for a staggering six-show run. This will be supported by multiple shows across the UK, including dates in Leeds, Manchester and Sheffield.
Drake’s trailblazing success has seen him become the first artist to break one billion streams on Apple Music with his latest album Views – he also holds the record for the most No.1 hits on Billboards RnB/hip hop chart. Last month Drake released a short film, Please Forgive Me , inspired by his latest album.

Platinum tickets are also available.
How do I improve my chances of bagging tickets?
We’re expecting Friday morning to be exceptionally busy for this tour. So, here are some tips on how to best prepare and increase your chances of securing tickets. Notepads at the ready!
1. Open your account and log in now
Get the details out of the way before tickets go on sale by logging in and checking your Ticketmaster account ahead of time. We recommend checking passwords, delivery address and billing information now, to reduce any stress when processing your order later on. Head to Ticketmaster.co.uk and log in to your account to get started.
2. Don’t refresh your screen
Stick to one window when you’re being pushed through the virtual queue and always resist the urge to refresh. Hitting the refresh button means you’ll lose your place in the queue and, as frustrating as it can get, patience is the only way to win this game.
Ticketmaster is equipped with sophisticated systems that are designed to manage and process ticket purchases as quickly as possible. The queuing system that appears on your screen is actually doing something and will place you at the front of the line as soon as possible.
3. Check when tickets are available – even once they’re on sale
Keep up-to-date with news at Twitter.com/TicketmasterUK . If anything changes with Drake tickets – anything at all, even new dates – our social followers will be the first to know about it.
We send real time updates as the general sales happens, including any technical difficulties that might occur (there are a lot of Drake fans, remember) and alerts on when new tickets come available. When we have popular tours come on sale, we try our very best behind the scenes to secure as many tickets for you as possible and here’s where you’ll know if we’ve been successful.
5. Don’t oversleep on Friday
That would be disastrous.
Tickets for Drake’s The Boyd Meets World Tour go on sale at 09:00 on Friday 14 October. Get yours at Ticketmaster.co.uk .

Drake review – Boy Meets World tour reflects the tension at the heart of the pop star
The ubiquitous artist is on a mission to convince the world he is more than just a rapper. But who is Drake in 2017?
“This is not the latest screening of Wonder Woman; this is the Drake show!”
Drake’s boast, delivered midway through his performance at Sydney’s Qudos Bank Arena on Tuesday, is aimed at the minority in the crowd who have so far rejected his invitations to get up and dance.
The braggadocio comes naturally to Drake, whose lyrics have always been dominated by themes of fame, money and personal success. And while it works to get the crowd moving, the analogy has another purpose. Wonder Woman was one of the biggest and most talked about films of the year, grossing close to $1bn, but Drake wants us to think of him as something even bigger, even more important: someone who hasn’t just conquered the world of hip-hop, but the entire entertainment industry.
Of course on the face of it, the claim is absurd – Drake’s entire net worth is a fraction of what blockbuster films make – but in hip-hop, hyperbole is par for the course. Rap is a game and one that Drake, with seven consecutive number one albums and the record for most charted songs in history, has won many times over.
Whether it’s his huge commercial success, or his vanquishing of musical foes , Drake’s victories are plastered all over the contemporary music landscape. But he’s still a frustrated artist, and this current tour reflects the tension at the heart of Drake in 2017.
Drake and Compton rapper Kendrick Lamar are regularly considered the greatest rappers of the modern era. But rap has a ceiling. Drake has been releasing hip-hop records since 2009 but it was only last year that he scored his first Billboard number one, with the dancehall-influenced One Dance. That’s an extraordinary fact when you consider just how present Drake is across pop culture, but it’s useful in helping understand what’s currently driving him.
One Dance and Hotline Bling (his other mega-hit of 2016) were part of an attempt by Drake to project himself as a bonafide pop star as opposed to just another rapper. It didn’t work. When Hotline Bling picked up the Grammy for best rap song, Drake said , “I’m a black artist, I’m apparently a rapper, even though Hotline Bling is not a rap song. The only category that they can manage to fit me in is in a rap category, maybe because I’ve rapped in the past or because I’m black.”
While he acknowledged his history as a rapper, it seemed Drake no longer identified as one, and was on a mission to convince the world he was something more.
More Life, this year’s follow-up to Views (which featured One Dance and Hotline Bling), took him further in that direction. The album’s most popular tracks, Passionfruit and Fake Love, are more pop and R&B than they are hip-hop.
Obviously still frustrated with the industry’s inability to come to terms with his genre shift, Drake didn’t even bother submitting More Life for consideration at the Grammys. Having eschewed critics for failing to appreciate his current musical style and approach, he has retreated into the comfort of fans, who continue to buy his music in record numbers and sell out concerts all over the world.
Which brings us back to the current tour, which landed in Australia on Tuesday.
Technically, it’s a masterpiece. The stage production has been substantially upgraded since his last tour in 2015, with fireworks, light cages, enormous glowing balls undulating in time with the music, and a giant globe for Drake to run around, to help remind us of the tour’s title: Boy Meets World.
The difficulty for an artist as prolific as Drake is working out how to condense an extensive back catalogue into a two-hour show. The trick, we learn, is to not even bother. Rather than belting out full renditions of a dozen or so songs, Drake blends rapid-fire medleys of his biggest hits with the very occasional full song. The end result is a set list 40 tracks long, spanning his entire career.
At times it’s frustrating to hear the start of one song only for it to quickly shift into another before it hits a crescendo – particularly when that song is the Rihanna-accompanied Take Care .
But it’s his physical energy and crowd engagement that really separate him from his hip-hop contemporaries, elevating him to the status of pop star. It’s interesting to contrast his performance to that of Atlanta trio Migos, one of the most hyped rap acts of the year who just wrapped up a local tour.
The Migos style is passive and laid-back, representative of the Atlanta sound that has started to dominate hip-hop. The songs get the crowd pumping, but there’s little – if any – action from the artists.
Drake, on the other hand, barely stops moving. He’s rapping, singing, running, jumping, throwing his clothes off, putting new clothes on, downing shots and throwing shout-outs to dozens of audience members. Sadly, there was no repeat of the great moment in 2015 when he appeared on stage wearing a Wallabies jersey , but his ability to work “Sydney, Australia” into nearly every song still endears him.
Physically, at least, Drake knows how to be pop star. But his set list reflects a lack of confidence in the new direction. The Boy Meets World tour is theoretically a promotional tour for Views and More Life, but most of the songs he’s performing are from his earlier albums and mixtapes. Tracks like I’m On One, Started From the Bottom and The Motto are definitely “rap Drake”.
It’s understandable why he wants to perform them. They’re hugely popular among longtime fans, and they work in a stadium. But they also feel like a crutch. If Drake really wants us to take his new work more seriously, and if he’s confident in his recent projects, then we want him to perform them for us.
More Life is an exciting, experimental and ambitious record; instead of snippets of a couple of tracks, let the whole thing wash over us. Overall the show still feels coherent, but there is a definite sense of Drake unwilling to fully embrace the direction he’s talked up publicly.
Perhaps he doesn’t need to. Listening to him perform some of his best tracks like Hold On, We’re Going Home and Over is a reminder of how absurd it is that it took a decade of releasing music before he scored a number one.
Drake’s frustrated and confused, but he has every right to be. Even if the Grammys don’t recognise his pop star status, he cemented it in front of 20,000 fans on Tuesday.

Drake Announces The Boy Meets World Australia & New Zealand Tour Dates
On Tuesday, (Sept. 5), Drake announced that he would venture to Australia and New Zealand for The Boy Meets World Tour.

Despite promising to have a cushiony summer vacation after the release of More Life , Drake has been on overload. With a summer that consisted of a slew of guest appearances and headlining his eighth annual OVO Fest, Drake is ready to venture out for another run on The Boy Meets World Tour.
This November, OVO’s commander-in-chief will embark on a six-date tour in Australia and New Zealand. “Tickets On Sale Friday, September 15,” tweeted out the self-proclaimed 6 God on Twitter Tuesday afternoon (Sept. 5). For Drake, he’ll kick things off Nov. 3 in Auckland’s Spark Arena, while closing things out Nov. 20 in Melbourne’s Rod Laver Arena.
Earlier this year, Drake encountered early difficulties when trying to kick off The Boy Meets World Tour. After dealing with production issues and several setbacks, Drake axed his shows in Amsterdam last January. Despite the problems, Drake carried on and delivered an enchanting tour with appearances by Nicki Minaj , Travis Scott and Young Thug .

Drake made London feel like the best city in the world
By Eleanor Halls
The opening night of Drake's Boy Meets World Tour was truly worthy of a global superstar. The staging was magnificent - you could feel the heat of the giant flames firing up the podium at the back of the arena - the production was flawless and the crowd heaved and roared with electric abandon. And yet, the real veneration didn't come from the crowd. It came from Drake, and it was directed at London.
In a divided and precarious political and social UK climate, in which Britain seethes and feels like it's been broken into a million sharp, angry shards, like no one is on the same side, Drake was a reassuring and uniting presence tonight at the O2 Arena. His opening speech stressed again and again the love and respect he felt for this city, and reminded the crowd of his gratitude for London's instrumental boost to his career. "I owe my whole career to London. This is my favourite city in the world," he called out, in his Toronto drawl, as sweet and scratchy as salted caramel. "Imma live here one day," he promised, and the crowd believed him. I mean, he had a Union Jack flag between his hands...
Drake's rhetoric wasn't just the standard blueprint bullshit we see at every big gig, in any city in the world. Drake is someone who has always championed London's unique urban music. Last year the Canadian rapper ditched the Brits red carpet to join road rap group Section Boyz perform at Village Underground, and before that he brought Skepta out at Wireless. This year, Drake once again met London on its own terms. Instead of impressing the crowd with a huge international act like Rihanna or Future, he brought out Giggs (who smashed it) and Section Boyz (less so) for the second time. He reminded London of its unique musical goldmine. Drake's respect for London's grime scene is evident from the urban inflections to his language. "Jheeez!" he whistled after he smashed a song, "mad!" he shouted with a clipped 'd'. We even heard, "selecta!" And the fact he brought out Giggs (with whom he has made a new track) rather than his longtime ally Skepta (although obviously Skeppy still got his shoutout), showed Drake has finger on the pulse of the UK music scene.
Drake is a born performer, and he runs a 360 show. From complimenting the girls (a bit too much) and bigging up the guys, to playfully turning his DJ and drummer into the show's antagonists – "man this is like some Adele acoustic or some shit" Drake berated them – everything was carefully planned and rehearsed. Every time the crowd thought the show would end, Drake asked them if they wanted more. "I'll give you more if you want more. I'll do whatever you want," he cajoled, leading them through a misleading ending, appearing beside a giant inflatable globe, and loading up five more bangers.
Particularly striking is the sheer number of hits Drake has to his name. Every time we thought there couldn't possibly be another song, he pulled out an anthem bigger than the last. When he switched from "Over" to "Worst Behaviour" the crowd bellowed. Drake has such a catalogue of number ones it was impossible to play one for longer than a minute. The effect was dizzying: the set-list chopped into fleeting moments of one hit after another. It's rare to see a crowd maintain such momentum for two hours straight, but then again, this is Drake we're talking about.
It's just a shame the flawless performance of the first two nights was bungled by Travis Scott disappearing through the stage and piercing the inflatable globe during last night's performance. However, it makes for comedy gold.

Drake is about to embark on his European leg of The Boy Meets World Tour which includes a landmark eight shows at the O2 arena .
His string of London shows kicks off on Monday January 30 and it'll be a busy week with another four taking place in the following days.
He will then return to the tent on Valentines Day - possibly the best date to see Drake showcase his popular break up tracks - and February 15, before one last show when he returns on March 20.
Drake's eight show run makes him the only rapper to achieve the feat at the venue, the previous record was held by Jay-Z and Kanye West for their joint Watch The Throne tour.
The last time the O2 arena saw this many shows from a single artist was in 2016 when Adele played eight shows on her 25 World Tour.
The rapper was recently revealed as Spotify's most streamed artist for the second year running - so we're guessing the crowds won't have too much trouble singing along.
He totalled an incredible 4.7 billion streams in 2016 for tracks including number one One Dance, the dance-hall Controlla and Rihanna-featured Too Good.
Find out below what the setlist could be, who's the support act and if you can still get tickets to The Boy Meets World Tour.
Are tickets still available?
Tickets are still on sale for Drake's Boy Meets World Tour with the best availability on Monday January 30, Wednesday February 1, Thursday February 2 and Sunday February 5 at O2 arena.
You can get them from Ticketmaster here .
Plus tickets are still available for his Leeds show on February 9 and Manchester show on February 12.
What merchandise is on sale?
A Drake fansite posted some images of the new merchandise on offer at The Boy Meets World Tour. It is currently exclusive to the live shows as it's not available on his website yet.
What will the setlist be?
Fans can expect to hear some of Drake's biggest hits as well as tracks from mixtapes and remixes of tracks he's featured on.
The first night of the tour in Amsterdam gave the UK a glimpse of the setlist which featured old and new tracks, mixtape songs and a surprise new song featuring UK grime artist Giggs.

Who's the support act?
Rumours circulated in early 2017 when Young Thug posted a picture of himself and Drake to Instagram with the caption 'European tour ft ......' leading fans to speculate that he will support,
For his final London show on March 20 he will be supported by the following lineup:
T-Jizzle : 19:10 Pressa/SD/Baka : 19:30 DVSN : 20:00 Popcaan : 20:25
It was originally confirmed from January 30 that Young Thug will support Drake on all of his UK and Ireland shows.
However he has so far only supported Drake at a handful of his London shows alongside DVSN.
On the first night of his London shows Drake was joined by Giggs, Section Boyz and Kyla who featured on his track One Dance.
And on his second night he invited Travi$ Scott onto the stage to perform Goosebumps.
Drake has also been joined by the likes of up-and-coming singer Jorja Smith and duo Krept & Konan on dates on his UK tour.

Moments ago, the rapper announced his aptly titled ‘Boy Meets World Tour,’ which’ll be kicking off in Europe in January.
The jaunt is being erected in support of the rap titan’s latest album ‘Views’ – which has dominated the global music landscape since its release in April.
With Drizzy continuing to wrack up chart wins with the LP, he looks poised to pocket triple figure millions from the touring arena too.

All those dates in London, is the demand really that strong? ? But hey get that money
Lol that is so gay. Really Drakeshia, “The boy meets world tour”. LOL I can’t with her.
Right! He acts straight fem which I’m totally here for!
I actually “paid” to see this show. Future who i detest. Was surprisingly excellent. Drake was a letdown. Rap-Lip-singing 80% of the show and One Dance was not live at all. Drake may have just played the videos which were more interesting than his boring, fake performance. DRAKE IS NOT A GOOD LIVE PERFORMER. If future is not there to turn it up stay home and save your money. FRAUD.
Sis, did you say rap-lip singing. OMG i screamed!!!!
GIRLLLLLLL I WANTED MY MONEY BACK.
Boy meets world though??? Come on Drake you could thought of something better.
Saw him in Birmingham some years back. Was a lot more humble then.
He waves his hands a lot and has some stage charisma but his music doesn’t appeal to me like older school rappers like Jigga, Nas and DmX.
I want that bad boy reunion tour to come London.
His success has been really exaggerated this year. Real streaming mess. With all those weeks at number one you could think he was having an Adele type of moment/phenomenon or something. Half of the world has yet to know who he is I bet.
Exactly. This girl is just hype. Please put her in a cypher with Em, Jay, Nas,Dre, etc and that will humble her.
Since she so great, then she should be able to hold her own in a battle with the greats.
SIX dates at the O2 Arena? Wow, he’s seriously going all in and testing his star power. But I don’t get it. If you’re gonna do that many dates, why not just settle for a Wembley date and three O2 dates? Get up on your stadium game while you’re at your commercial peak. Don’t wait and regret it.
No shade but um rihanna didnt quite pack out wembley so Audrey damn sure wont
NOT A SINGLE LIE DETECTED
Guuuurrl.. Boy meets world? Really?
The name though..
…some one has been watching too much Disney channel all summer sixteen!!!!!!!
I like how Drake does what he wants. He isn’t trying come off super masculine or macho. He is himself
I live for the boy meet world‼️ Y’all better catch his shade.
wait, i dont get it….enlighten me boo
Drake with her huge ego, i cant with these celebrities
I don’t get they problem with the name? Why gay people always reaching for someone else to be gay? It’s obviously a play on words since summer sixteen was a domestic tour and this is overseas.
because there are alot more ppl pretending not to be gay.. lol
Lawsuit waiting to happen with that title of his tour haha.

He totalled an incredible 4.7 billion streams in 2016 for tracks including number one One Dance, the dance-hall Controlla and Rihanna-featured Too Good.

The first night of the tour in Amsterdam gave the UK a glimpse of the setlist which featured old and new tracks, mixtape songs and a surprise new song featuring UK grime artist Giggs.

Drake Announces Dates for The Boy Meets World Tour in Europe
Drake is taking The Boy Meets World Tour to Europe in early 2017.
Image via Complex Original
Early Monday morning, Drake announced that he will be hitting Europe at the top of 2017 for his The Boy Meets World Tour. The tour will take him across the UK, Ireland, Norway, Belgium, Sweden, Denmark, Germany, and France.
Tickets Available October 14 @Ticketmaster pic.twitter.com/A9Xe3p6tiA — Drizzy (@Drake) October 10, 2016
According to Drake's tweet, tickets for the tour will be available through Ticketmaster beginning on Oct. 14.
The Boy Meets World Tour comes right on the heels of Drake's Summer Sixteen Tour , which saw him crisscrossing the U.S. and Canada with Future. Drake recently had to postpone a few of the remaining Summer Sixteen dates due to a nagging ankle injury, further extending a tour that he's been going on since July. "We are over 50 shows in and I have done everything to power through my recent ankle injury and leave it all out there on the stage every night," he said. "I hate to be told I can't do something, but under doctor's orders to allow me time to recuperate."
The Summer Sixteen Tour has been a revolving door of guests and controversies. Drake has brought out names like Eminem, Kanye West, Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Rihanna, and Gucci Mane. He's also taken some on-stage shots at Joe Budden, Tory Lanez, Hot 97, and more, causing several small media frenzies along the way.
There's currently been no announcement about any openers for The Boy Meets World Tour, though we can hope that Drake and Skepta may cross paths during Drake's extensive tour through the UK. European fans who want to catch Drake's performance should be sure to grab tickets ASAP.

Designing Drake's 'Boy Meets World' Tour
Guy Pavelo brings some of music's wildest ideas to life. As Creative Director for GP-SK design, he's the technical go-to guy behind stage designs for Kanye West, Rihanna, Future, Van Halen, and, for the longest time, Drake – including on the Boy Meets World tour currently making its way around Australia.
He showed up in Auckland (first night), said 'this is awesome' then left. We were like 'aren't you going to rehearse or something?' He said 'no, it's exactly what you told me it would be. It looks great, it's the size I want, I'll have to figure out how to play 360, and cool...cya tomorrow' and we were like 'oh, okay'.
When we came back to him and said 'we literally have no vendor who can do it' he said 'ok, that's cool... keep looking'.
You don't see swoopy motions on this show, they're quite strict: point A, point B, nothing in between, and no bullshit.
Every seat is a different view, a different look, and certain seats don't see the same thing. We made the show evolve for everybody, and everybody gets their own look and their own component of the show.
