Stellar customer service!

Within 10 minutes of booking flight tickets through Crystal Travel, Marco Lopez called to ask me about the booking experience and whether I received the e-ticket. After confirming that I had, he offered to book seats without extra charge, which I gladly accepted. This was my time booking flights through their portal, and I will definitely be coming back.

Edream scam resolved

Had an horrible experience with e-dreams agency but thanks to Crystal Travel expecially Mr. David Brooks I, he was able to resolve the situation in less than 24 hours. Great service, very helpful

I booked the flights to Bangkok and made a payment. But all the booking disappeared from the screen. I couldn't find my booking anywhere. Money were gone from my account. I was really panicking. Not long after I received a call from Crystal travel and Ryan Smith explained that it was technical issue, he was very sorry about it, and sent my flight confirmation.

Good customer service from Marco

First made an online transaction on crystal travel website but didn't receive any confirmation email due to website timeout. Subsequently I made another booking straight away. Marco noticed this and called me immediately to explain the issue and issued a refund for me. Very happy with the service!

All around a good service

Following the online flight booking we received a follow up call to confirm the booking went through and our tickets would be sent by email within 24 hours. All around a good service. Only negative was the booking page timed out before is should have done.

Don't get fooled by their cheapest price!

Don't get fooled by their cheapest price. This is a con, when you book your fight on their website, it gets rejected. You are asked to call them to complete your booking and that's when they try to tell you, you have to pay more as the airline rejected your booking. They then try to make it up that they are finding the best deal possible and try to get you to buy a flight much more expensive. They hard barging on the phone can get some people confused to agree to pay much more. I had a terrible experience with their hard bargaining sales team. I will never ever use Crystal Travel again. They should be investigated ⚠️

Before someone pipes up, yes we are to blame as we wanted seats without paying over the odds. But at the time Crystal Travel had the seats on the perfect days at a good prices, others were cheaper but as we had used them once before we trusted they would be OK.

After booking with Crystal Travel we contacted our airline direct who issued us the e-ticket. So we didn't think there could be a problem. We had our tickets and were looking forward to our trip. How silly do we feel now.

We were to fly to Bangkok tomorrow on a 2 week holiday, late last night we had a call from Crystal Travel saying that the Airline (Qatar) had cancelled our seats but they could book us onto another better airline (aeroflot) we didn't want to fly with Aeroflot and there would be an extra charge for this anyway. As it was late at night we couldn't contact the airline in the UK. So we called the US where we were told that Crystal Travel had requested a refund for our seats. It seems that as they were our agents they could do this without our consent and now the flight had no seats for us.

As you can imagine we were/are devastated and many heated phones calls through the night and all today proceed the news. It seems Crystal Travel have done this many many times over the years and this time have left at least a dozen in the same situation with Qatar airlines just today. Qatar although very helpful said our contract was with the agent not them there was nothing they could do for us and at this late stage there were next to no seats left.

We were forced to pay almost double for new tickets this time direct with the airline . We are lucky we were able to do this I'm sure others may not have been able to.

We have been told by Crystal Travel that they would refund us and we have been in contact with our card issuer who said we are covered BUT THAT ISN'T THE POINT.

We have just paid more for flights than I have ever paid in my life just so we don't lose our dream holiday.

There is something to be said for booking with one of the big name travel agents. You may pay a little more but you will be able to sleep at night. Crystal Travel are liars, cheats and some of the rudest people we have ever had to deal with. Don't be fooled by their UK number and address to are based overseas.

We have taken legal advice and have been told we have a case for breach of contract and will be taking it further.

Crystal Travel also seem to fix reviews as you always see amazing reviews just after really bad ones. DON'T BE FOOLED like us.

You have a contract with the agency and not with the airline . That is one consequence of booking with an agency. You have another set of T&C's on top of the one of the airline .

The credit will only side with you, if you should have not received a ticket. But if you have received a ticket, then decided to cancel, the T&C's you marked during the booking process as read, understood and agreed to will count.

Sadly so many people do not read the T&Cs they are agreeing to OR do even the briefest research into the company they are paying their money to

Extremely unhappy with Crystal Travel. I honestly would give zero stars if that was possible. What a JOKE of a company. Their customer service is complete garbage. I would advise everyone to save their time, money, and energy. DO NOT BOOK THROUGH THEM.

To anyone out there reading this, please do not make the same, stupid mistake that I made. Find another company because Crystal Travel is horrible and their customer service is non existent.

Why do you think you can get a refund after any amount of time?

Did you read their terms , especially the part where there might be no refunds.

If your reason is a valid one I( think you should try to make a claim on your travel insurance. Also as per there web site this is why they tell you need to have travel insurance to cover things like this where this company will not refund you.

Aura, I don’t know much about this agent but it there is nothing you say in your post that gives me the impression you are entitled to a refund or a free change.

Did you buy very expensive fully flexible tickets? If you didn’t an instead picked the cheapest fare type then the tickets will likely be no refunds, no changes. Doesn’t matter if you phone within 24 hours or 24 minutes.

So sounds like they have awful customer support just like all the other online cheap ticket floggers, maybe slightly better since you did get through once. So they could have politely told you that you are not entitled to either a refund or a change with the ticket you bought. Then hung up.

“Smooth Booking Experience”

I booked a flight to Miami with crystal travel around 2 weeks back. Now that my travel is complete, I want to share my overall experience. 1. Website is easy to navigate, providing smooth booking experience 2. They called me after booking to confirm if I have received the tickets. I was impressed 3. They sent me a travel reminder a day before my journey 4. What they committed is what I got during travel I highly recommend them. Hoping for a similar experience in future as well.

“GO AWAY!”

I search airway ticket from Momondo and they are the cheapest one, I jump right in and enter passenger name, dob(ONLY!) no passport info asked(here may be the hints), and then next page, it asked me enter credit card info to pay. Okay, everything good. Then the payment page jump from their page to worldpay(which is fine) and there, I have to enter some repeat info. Okay then. Right after I paid, the next page told me my tickets are on waiting list and asked me to call their phone. Okay, I spent 2 hours calling, lots of waiting, and one of their million staff call back saying my flight price changed, and ask me a higher price one, I refuse and ask for refund, he said it takes 5 days for it. I might update the story later for this. Hope my momey will come back!

Our Personal Experience

My husband and I had been saving all year for an Alaskan adventure trip, and we found the perfect deal on two hotels from Crystal Travel. We booked our rooms and were all set. Unfortunately, a massive snowstorm delayed our flights the night we were supposed to land in Anchorage. We needed to cancel our first night at our hotel, so we tried customer support on Crystal Travel, which surprised me. The staff was incredibly efficient, immediately changed our arrangements, and was so friendly to talk with. I have to admit, I was fairly uptight about the whole ordeal. The ease with which they handled everything was just what we needed at that moment. We ended up having the trip of our lives out there, and it was an experience we’ll never forget. We highly recommend everyone tries to make it out into the beautiful Alaskan wilderness at least once in their lifetime. Definitely consider booking your next adventure with Crystal Travel and its stellar customer service team. I know we will be using them from now on. The other place we used to booked hotels with was Super Travel , and they’re good too but don’t offer flights.

I bought my ticket through Crystal travel, without doing much work or research. I checked reviews AFTER I bought my ticket and immediately felt scammed. I thought I overpaid for a fake ticket and immediately panicked. I'm here to tell you that there were no issues. I booked through Crystal travel in December and I had zero issues. I'm back home and had to let people know that they can relax and rest assured their ticket is legit. However, I'm sure if I reached out to them to change the flight or cancel, then I'm screwed. I didn't need to, I was able to call the airlines and was granted the request to change my flight, (with the normal fees being applicable) and they would honor the money I paid already towards the new ticket. I could've carefully selected the dates from two different airlines and maybe got a better price, but I used crystal travel to get the tickets without any hassle or issue.

Just download the apps for the airlines used and you will see your booked flights when you punch in the reference number

Pursuing legal action against Crystal Travel who are liable for gross negligence and acting in bad faith. They left me and my daughter hanging in the wind without a travel itinerary, no communication whatsoever and I found out on my own 6 days before scheduled departure date. This is just another 1-star review to add to the pile. you've been warned. Book with the airline.

It was very horrible experience with crystal travel. I have booked the flight through this website but before the day of my travel i got to know that they haven't booked it even after i entered all payment details. It was so frustrating for me that they have not sent me any email for the cancellation of booking. Only one mail i got that my booking is done when i booked it. I tried reaching out to customer care and i have not got any satisfactory answer. Very bad service which turned me out to book my flight tickets on urgent basis from other travel portal and spend almost like double of my actual booking amount as i cant avoid the plan i had. Crystal Travel LLC STILL OWES ME A REFUND from OCTOBER 2023. Yesterday, 2/9/24 I RECEIVED A JUDGEMENT( AGAINST CRYSTAL TRAVEL because they still HAVE NOT PRODUCED THE REFUND THEY OME; 4 months they have been sitting on my refund! The Judge reviewed Crystal Travel's emails acknowledging that they owe me a refund and awarded the judgment to me because to date Crystal Travel LLC has not paid back the money I paid them ...almost ONE THOUSAND DOLLARS.

NOT-SO-Crystal Travel. Enough said. Unfortunately, I found their Yelp review after I made my reservation. And I'm currently going through a dispute with them which is PIA. The way they operate is that they first lure you in with bargain ticketing prices, then slam you with the enormous amount of fees. Save yourself time and headaches by going through a more trustworthy agency or directly through the airlines.

Scammers. They quote the lowest ticket price, esp on google flights. After booking they don't confirm, ask you to call them for payment verification. They tell you that flight is not available and same flight is available for a higher price. Google allows these scammers.

Crytal Travel scam customer in modern way, I do not recommend anyone buying ticket through this website. I purchased airline ticket using Crystal travel website and I paid $64 extra for changeable ticket fee. Actual when I wanted to change the ticket date, they quoted me $675 one-way ticket from Istanbul to Washington. I got a brand-new ticket for the same day for $640 less than what they quoted me. Paying extra money for making ticket changeable, does not work and it is just waste of money.

I'm a thrifty person so I tried to camp a cheap ticket. On 07/19/2022, I booked a flight for 2 people (me and my gf) from USA to Vietnam around at 5:30pm, the ticket is $1808 ($904/each) and the airline is Asiana Airlines. After that, there is a guy whose name Leo Miller in here "Crystal Travel" contacted me back and said that I'm not able to afford that price since it was too cheap and gave me a bunch of hilarious reason. Then he started quoting me a really high price which is more higher than the price of original airline and asked me to confirm. Firstly, he quoted me at around $2600. Secondly, he quoted me back at around $2300. Lastly, he quoted me back again at around $2000 more. And I denied all of them, I asked him why you charged me more, he made up that this price is for selected seat, I will book for you guys to sit together and your $1808 is not included the checked bags. I took my confirmation number and searched it up on Asiana Airlines, it popped up that I got free 2x23kg/person checked bag, free carry-on.I told him that for the seat, I don't want to pay extra to be together. On the day of departure, I will go to the airline to get tickets and seats and then go to the airport to sit. I don't need easy-refund or easy-cancellation so don't need to charge anything. I asked him why I got charged more? If you didn't agree on my price, why would you put it on sale then your customer booked it and you gave them a bunch of crapped reasons which don't make sense? They will still give me full refund but this is my first and last time using this service!! Really really bad. Tryna scammed people around here? Thx!

Travelers be warned: we had a disappointedly dishonest experience with Crystal Travel which purported to help us, but ended up tacking on extraneous, and erroneous fees that totaled several hundred dollars We learned we had been duped when we spoke with our respective airline and airport officials. We had two main issues with Crystal Travel: the first with checked baggage. Crystal Travel insisted that our tickets did not have a complimentary checked bag, so I opted to purchase a checked bag for myself and my fellow passenger: one each. But our tickets DID have one complimentary checked bag each. Worse, Crystal Travel bought additional bags for the departure flight, but none for the arrival (i.e. they bought extra bags leaving the country, but none to return.) Which brings us to our next red flag: the Crystal Travel rep I spoke with then claimed that I, myself, made these bag purchases through the SAS airline. This is false, which I conveyed, and reaffirmed by checking my bank account statements which showed no additional bag purchases. Crystal Travel refused to reimburse us for these funds which only they could have taken by themselves. It's worth noting that the airline also cannot reimburse these charges as we had went through Crystal Travel, who is effectively the airline's client. Take note. Our problems also extended to the names on our tickets: just days before traveling, Crystal Travel claimed that we needed to pay $80 each to change the names on our ticket to include our middle names, or we would not be able to fly. While I remember entering this info when I first bought my ticket, it was no where to be found. Still, we obliged, out of fear of missing out on our flights completely, and paid the additional $160 in fees. BUT when we spoke with airport security and the airline, they told us that this was false and we had effectively been duped. Lastly: if I work with a travel service, I expect to be able to get in contact with them relatively quickly (within 24 hours.) At times, I would send out inquiries and it would be days before I'd hear back, prompting me to follow-up multiple times to no avail. One of many red flags. Crystal Travel's allure is with its low sticker prices that are lower than the airlines: but we would have been in much better hands, and our wallets that much thicker, had we booked originally with the airline. Buyer be warned: take screenshots of everything you enter into their system if you do business with them.

Original e-ticket email went to spam, but got it after support helped. Support seemed helpful when I had to later cancel the flight.

The three biggest travel scams of 2024, and how to spot them.

Dealing with travel scams can be incredibly frustrating when planning a vacation or exploring new places. The scams are constantly evolving and can be quite sophisticated, making them difficult to detect.

With the advancement of technology, travel scams have become even more challenging to spot compared to the past. Will Bolsover, Founder & CEO at Natural World Safaris has explained the top three travel scams of 2024 and how to spot them:

Social media customer support impersonator

One common travel scam that’s currently taking over social media, particularly X targets those who have had a recent flight change or cancellation. Customers often reach out to airline help accounts on social media to help get issues resolved, but recently they find that the accounts responding are actually scammers posing as these airlines. They use the airline's profile picture and bio, and now that anyone with a bank account can secure a blue tick, they look trustworthy to unsuspecting travellers.

These fake accounts reply to travellers experiencing issues in the hopes of securing personal information from them such as phone numbers and bank details.

To avoid this, travellers should check the handle of the X account to ensure it’s from the original airline. It’s also helpful to check how many followers the account has, as an unusually low amount indicates that the account is fake. Looking at when the account was created is also a giveaway. Travellers should instead contact the real airline account directly via DMs to ensure they know who they’re talking to.

You could write a book on the travel scams run by local taxi companies. Of all the places to watch out for scams, booking and paying for a taxi is likely when you’re most at risk. No matter what country you visit, these scams can be prevalent.

One such scam sees travellers jump into a taxi only for the driver to announce that the meter doesn’t work, but promises to still give them a good deal. This is often false, and the driver will charge a premium for the distance.

In India, some taxi drivers will pretend to not know the hotel that you’re travelling to claiming that it has closed down and then offer to take you to another hotel that they highly recommend instead. This hotel pays the driver a commission for bringing in new guests and the room price is usually a higher rate than other tourist hotels.

Even Uber carries risk. It’s known that some drivers of the company will only pick you up if you agree to pay by cash. Once the trip is complete, and you pay cash for the trip, you’ll unknowingly be charged by both the Uber app and the money you just gave to the driver. By then, it’s too late and they’ve driven away.

Travellers should always be vigilant when getting private transport around a new area. If they’re to haggle with a driver on price, first check Uber to make sure it seems like a reasonable deal. Always ensure that the taxi meter is on and can be seen throughout, or riders can leave the vehicle. A good way for travellers to ensure that they’re getting a good price with a trusted company is to talk to a destination specialist who will be able to help them secure transfers ahead of time.

'Helpful’ locals

When visiting a new place, it’s normal for travellers to want to go in with an open mind and experience everything they can. However, sometimes being on guard is a good thing, especially when the situation doesn’t feel right.

One tourist scam preys on the naivety and openness of new visitors to a country. Some scammers will try to present themselves as overly helpful locals, and offer to guide visitors through a particularly stressful area like a market, offer to introduce them to new shops or give directions without being asked.

While these locals might seem well-meaning to begin with, they end up asking for monetary compensation at some point. They might claim that they’ve guided travellers to a destination or take them to a friend's shop where they’ll charge extortionate prices. They’re usually very firm and won’t take no for an answer, often saying that they don’t want money, only to ask for it later.

Travellers should keep an eye out for these kinds of scammers, and be as firm as possible when explaining to them that they don’t need a guide or assistance. If the situation seems to become heated they should take themselves out of it. Travellers shouldn’t let this experience affect their view of the locals. Often it’s just a few bad apples in a bunch of very lovely people.

NEW ORLEANS — As the nation prepares for trillions of red-eyed bugs known as periodical cicadas to emerge, it’s worth noting that they’re not just annoying, noisy pests — if prepared properly, they can also be tasty to eat.

Blocks away from such French Quarter fine-dining stalwarts as Antoine’s and Brennan’s, the Audubon Insectarium in New Orleans has long served up an array of alternative, insect-based treats at its “Bug Appetit” cafe overlooking the Mississippi River. “Cinnamon Bug Crunch,” chili-fried waxworms, and crispy, cajun-spiced crickets are among the menu items.

Periodical cicadas stay buried for years, until they surface and take over a landscape. Depending on the variety, the emergence happens every 13 or 17 years. This year two groups are expected to emerge soon, averaging around 1 million per acre over hundreds of millions of acres across parts of 16 states in the Midwest and South.

They emerge when the ground warms to 64 degrees (17.8 degrees Celsius), which is happening earlier than it used to because of climate change, entomologists said. The bugs are brown at first but darken as they mature.

Recently, Zack Lemann, the Insectarium’s curator of animal collections, has been working up cicada dishes that may become part of the menu. He donned a chef’s smock this week to show a couple of them off, including a green salad with apple, almonds, blueberry vinaigrette — and roasted cicadas. Fried cicada nymphs were dressed on top with a warm mixture of creole mustard and soy sauce.

“I do dragonflies in a similar manner,” Lemann said as he used tweezers to plop nymphs into a container of flour before cooking them in hot oil.

Depending on the type and the way they are prepared, cooked cicadas taste similar to toasted seeds or nuts. The Insectarium isn’t the first to promote the idea of eating them. Over the years, they have appeared on a smattering of menus and in cookbooks, including titles like “Cicada-Licious” from the University of Maryland in 2004.

“Every culture has things that they love to eat and, maybe, things that are taboo or things that people just sort of, wrinkle their nose and frown their brow at,” Lemann said. “And there’s no reason to do that with insects when you look at the nutritional value, their quality on the plate, how they taste, the environmental benefits of harvesting insects instead of dealing with livestock.”

Lemann has been working to make sure the Bug Appetit cafe has legal clearance to serve wild-caught cicadas while he works on lining up sources for the bugs. He expects this spring’s unusual emergence of two huge broods of cicadas to heighten interest in insects in general, and in the Insectarium — even though the affected area doesn’t include southeast Louisiana.

“I can’t imagine, given the fact that periodical cicadas are national news, that we won’t have guests both local and from outside New Orleans, asking us about that,” said Lemann. “Which is another reason I hope to have enough to serve it at least a few times to people.”
