Grand Island stretches north for 8 miles, from its southpoint at Williams Landing in Munising Bay to the north end at North Point. Only three miles across at its widest point, Grand lsland offers 35 miles of shoreline, encompassing over 13,500 acres of dense woodland, including several lakes. Rapid-flowing streams cut through the rugged hills, and massive 300 foot wave-cut sandstone cliffs. Beaches of fine sand, winter ice caves and historic buildings and artifacts dating back as far as 2,000 BC are just a few of its highlights. Archeological investigations indicate that Grand Island has been inhabited for at least 3,300 years. In the 1660’s, when the explorer priests arrived from France, the Ojibwa culture on Grand Island was already thriving.
Located only ½ mile offshore from Munising this island is 9 miles long and up to 3 miles wide with many beaches, sea caves, arches, cliffs, and wildlife abounds. Same geology as the Pictured Rocks. The first Settlers came to the Island in the early 1800’s when trading for furs was the prime industry. Evidence of this activity is still apparent there. The first permanent settlers arrived in 1846, setting up a trading post there to trade with the Ojibway Indians.

Chicago dinner cruises
Chicago is a city of two waterfronts. Both Lake Michigan and the Chicago River offer stunning views of the city skyline, especially at night when Chicago’s most iconic buildings are all lit up. And there’s no better way to experience these breathtaking vistas than on a waterfront cruise .
City Cruises offers a wide variety of dinner cruises in Chicago , whether you’re looking for a casual daytime meal or an elegant evening out. Here are just a few of their signature cruise options that are guaranteed to create an unforgettable experience.
Dinner cruises on the Chicago River
Dinner cruises along the Chicago River are offered aboard the Odyssey Chicago River, a state-of-the-art, glass-enclosed vessel that features 360-degree views of the surrounding cityscape. Sail past some of the city’s most well-known landmarks, including the Tribune Tower, the Wrigley Building, the Chicago Riverwalk, and more.
The experience includes a refined, plated dinner while you gaze up at Chicago’s incredible architecture. An onboard DJ and dance floor add to the fun. The single-level vessel includes an open-air outdoor deck and a climate-controlled interior for year-round cruising. It’s the perfect option for a romantic date or a special occasion. Upgrade to a window table for the very best views.
Chicago dinner cruises on Lake Michigan
A dinner cruise on Lake Michigan is truly magical. You’ll be dining aboard an elegant multi-level yacht with a climate-controlled interior and an outdoor observation deck where you can watch the sunset against the Chicago skyline. Enjoy picture-perfect moments as you sail past iconic landmarks like the Willis Tower, Buckingham Fountain, and the Adler Planetarium.
If you can pull yourself away from the view, you can enjoy a chef-prepared meal that comes either plated or buffet style. Dinner cruises typically last two to three hours and include a fully stocked bar, creative cocktails, dancing, music or live DJ entertainment, and more.
Fireworks dinner cruises in Chicago
Summer in Chicago means it’s time for the free Navy Pier fireworks series. These breathtaking displays happen every Wednesday and Saturday evening throughout the summer, and there’s no better place to enjoy them than on a fireworks dinner cruise .
The Fourth of July in Chicago is also a great time to catch a spectacular fireworks show on the water. You’ll find plenty of dinner cruise options that offer unobstructed views of the holiday fireworks, both on the Chicago River and Lake Michigan.
Holiday dinner cruises in Chicago
Looking to do something a little different this year? A holiday is the perfect occasion for a boat cruise, whether it’s a daytime Easter brunch or an all-out New Year’s Eve celebration.
