Access To and Tours of Cadet Area for AOG Members

Responding to requests, the AOG has created a program to allow Academy Graduates escorted access to the cadet area. We will make every effort to arrange necessary escorts whenever contacted, 10-business day notice is needed to schedule a volunteer.

Visits with Cadet, USAFA Staff Members and Departments

AOG members who wish to visit a cadet, Academy staff members or department should contact the cadet/staff member/department directly so they may arrange for your escort. AOG Customer Service will be pleased to provide telephone numbers or email addresses of individuals or departments.

Most of the Academy is open to all tourists. You may visit the Visitors Center, Chapel, Arnold Hall, the Field House, and Hall of Excellence without an escort. The Cadet Area (Terrazzo) has always been closed to the public, including graduates, and is now fenced. Special access is required to tour the Cadet Area. The AOG will make every effort to provide tours of the Cadet Area at times requested for the member, on occasion, AOG staff may not be available to conduct them. If you are not a member, AOG Customer Service will be pleased to sign you up for membership.

Tours will be conducted during normal duty days. Cadet activities within the cadet area and weather, though, could cause cancellation of tours on certain days. No tours are authorized when basic cadets are training in the cadet area, during reunion weekends, holidays, or when Cadet Wing training dictates. An AOG volunteer will contact you to arrange your tour.

The AOG tour program supports purchasing Memorial Cabinets for graduates killed in recent worldwide conflicts. The six foot, wooden, display cabinets are placed in the deceased graduate's squadron and filled with personal and military tributes. Any contribution made to the tour program will go directly to this endeavor.

Groups of more than twenty require coordination with the cadet wing and security forces. Please contact the Visitor's Center.

does the air force academy have tours

United States Air Force Academy is a public institution that was founded in 1954. It has a total undergraduate enrollment of 4,085 (fall 2022), and the campus size is 18,500 acres. It utilizes a semester-based academic calendar. United States Air Force Academy's ranking in the 2024 edition of Best Colleges is National Liberal Arts Colleges, #7. Its in-state tuition and fees are N; out-of-state tuition and fees are N.

The United States Air Force Academy, commonly called Air Force, is a military service academy located just outside of Colorado Springs, Colo., about 60 miles from Denver. Students at Air Force, called cadets, adhere to a strict daily schedule that does not allow for much free time, though there are a number of extracurricular clubs and activities. Incoming cadets attend a five-week training program intended to prepare them for military life. Cadets are required to participate in athletics — either intercollegiate or intramural — and must pass a fitness test every semester. The Fighting Falcons, Air Force’s athletic teams, compete in NCAA’s Division I and are known for their traditional rivalries with fellow service academies Army  and Navy .

Academics at Air Force center on a core curriculum that all cadets must complete. Although the core curriculum comprises the majority of the academic experience, cadets must also choose a specialized field of study from more than 30 possible majors. Military training continues throughout the four years at Air Force, including courses and instruction in aviation and airmanship. Air Force, like the other service academies, is governed by an honor code that states: "We will not lie, steal, or cheat, nor tolerate among us anyone who does." Distinguished alumni include Gregg Popovich, head coach of the NBA San Antonio Spurs, and Chesley Sullenberger, the pilot made famous for safely landing a commercial flight in the Hudson River near New York City in 2009.

U.S. Air Force Academy Jazz Band coming to Twin Falls; community invited

T WIN FALLS, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — The United States Air Force Academy Jazz Band is coming to Twin Falls, and the community is invited.

The Falconaires, which is the big band of the United States Air Force Academy, is coming to Twin Falls for a fun jazz concert on April 13 at 7:30 p.m. at the CSI Fine Arts Auditorium.

Jaime Parker who is the trombonist in the band says that it is going to be a 90 minute celebration of jazz music, which became popular during World War II.

April is jazz appreciation month, which is perfect timing for this free concert.

“In our concert we are going to play tribute to the rich history of jazz and another idea that is really central to jazz is the idea of innovation and that is also really important to the Air Force, so we are going to honor the idea by featuring some music from our members, some of which have never been heard before this tour, so there is going to be some world premieres, but also there will be some Patriotic tunes,” said TSGT Jaime Parker, the trombonist.

Tickets are free, but you must stop by the College of Southern Idaho Box Office to pick up the tickets prior to the show.

If there are any seats left 15 minutes before the show begins, they will allow in people who didn’t pick up their tickets ahead of time.
