The flight :

We flew virgin and managed to upgrade from premium to business for £700. Very unlike us to splurge spontaneously but so glad we did. What an incredible experience. The clubhouse at Heathrow was unlike any other lounge I've been in and the onboard service was top notch. Drinking up the bar at 30,000 feet was something I'll never forget.

We stayed at the Delano and got a scenic suite. I was hoping for a strip view but we ended up with a pool view. The room was still great though and absolutely massive. Probably half the size of my house thinking about it. It was easy to get about even if you are at the end of the strip.

Restaurants:

8east in circa was a standout for me. That's twice I've been there now and both times have been exceptional. I'd be visiting all the time if there was a London restaurant. Bavette's was really good. We ordered slightly wrong (pass on the fried chicken) but the crab cake and steak were faultless. The front yard at Ellis island is worth a shout too. The Wynn buffet for $80 each was probably the biggest disappointment. It was too loud, too busy and too hectic to really enjoy.

Whiskey licker up at Binons has become my favourite bar. It's such good fun. Skyfall still has the best view in Vegas, maybe the world and is always worth a visit. We found drink prices a bit steep ($13 a pint in brewdog) but a bit of shopping around helps. $4 pints at Ellis Island and $3 bottles at casino royale were a welcome reprieve.

Bit of a tough trip. We are only low rollers with a $300 per day budget but we found it tight this year. A couple of decent hits in Cosmo and downtown saved us but we definitely found the slots to be tighter. I had my worst ever blackjack run at Ellis island. I ran through $100 in about 20 minutes playing $5 BJ. Just had the worst possible luck. It's all part of the fun though. Cocktail waitress service seemed scarce. I think next time I will just take my own drink down from the room.

Still love Vegas. Will still defo go back. It's lost any real element of value I think (even Dennys is getting more expensive) but I still love it.

I usually fly BA business class from LHR due to Avios collection from my cc etc these days but I have flow Virgin Upper class a few times in the past and agree it’s an amazing experience, especially sitting at the bar chatting and boozing!!

Just FYI their Heathrow lounge is Virgins worldwide flagship lounge and is utterly incredible, has to be experienced to be believed so well done for taking the great deal on an upgrade… I will warn you that it’s hard to go back once you’ve tasted this though 😂

Glad you got to enjoy the Virgin Upper experience. On their newest A350s and A330neos the seat is much better (a suite in the air) but the bar is gone, replaced with a seating area called the loft. The best bars were on the 747 and A340-600s where it was set up like a true bar with the drinks behind the server etc. There is nothing quite like sitting at a bar or on a sofa at 30000+ feet. And it's hard to go back to slumming it after that, haha.

Too true it's so hard to go back to premium or economy after that. Sitting up the bar was just so much fun.

Defo agree about the shopping around a bit more but it definitely wouldn't stop me going back.

Well worth paying the extra £700 for Upper Class and everything it gives you.

The Virgin lounge at LHR is the best ive ever been in. I always plan to be there for 3 or 4 hours lol. Time just flies in here and it really is a treat.

As for the plane it depends on the model for what experience you receive. Dont get me wrong you will enjoy any one of the planes but the new suites are by far the best.

Ive stayed in Delano many times and its one of my favourites. A lot of people dont like it because its a bit darker and doesnt have a casino. FGS Mandalay Bay is just a minute away from the elevators ! !

We have a similar experience with JetBlue’s Mint seating: Once we have tried it, we don’t want to travel in the lower classes anymore! Lol
