Bottom Line

The best thing about this lower-middle-range chain hotel is its location on the Left Bank of Paris, within sight of the Eiffel Tower -- the penthouse room even catches a glimpse of the monument. The area brims with restaurants, cafes, and shops, while the nearby Dupliex Metro stop makes other attractions accessible. On-site features are few, though a breakfast buffet (which isn't included in rates) can be taken outdoors to a sunny courtyard. The 40 guest rooms are fairly standard fare as well, with basic blond-wood furnishings, but a few renovated rooms add a hit of style with brocade wallpaper. Multiple renovations here have been underway, and while they haven't brought more space or air-conditioning throughout, they have upgraded the bedding. By comparison, the nearby Mercure Paris Tour Eiffel Grenelle is equally low-frills, but it offers AC in rooms.

Tucked into one of Paris' narrow streets in a tall concrete-and-brick building, the Timhotel Tour Eiffel offers little in the way of public space -- or personality. Framed black-and-white photos offer a little bit of adornment to the functional lobby, which is covered in beige carpeting. Dark brown pleather chairs and a loveseat provide seating, and a little espresso-maker, doles out DIY welcome drinks. A vending machine and the hotel's one public computer are also wedged into this space. The breakfast room is minimally embellished as well. It's a tidy space done in a dark browns and beige palette. The one other public space is the courtyard out back. It's pleasant enough as an alfresco breakfast spot, but the plastic tables and chairs don't entice lingering either. The elevator and hallways are tight and show dings from struggles with luggage. Guests here are mostly tourists -- couples and families -- hoping to stay close to Paris' most famous attraction.  

Great location near the Eiffel Tower, surrounded by cafes and shops and convenient to the metro

Located in Paris' 15th Arrondissement, the Timhotel is just a 15-minute walk from the Eiffel Tower. Being the city's most populous district, the hotel is surrounded on all sides by restaurants, cafes, and shops. There's a coop with organic food selections just three minutes away on foot, or a Monoprix is just a five-minute walk. A laundromat is across the street. For all but the most intrepid walkers, most other attractions will require a metro or taxi. The Louvre is 30 minutes away by metro, while Montmartre takes about 38 minutes. The Champs-Elysees is a 32-minute walk or a 19-minute train ride. Orly Airport is about 30 minutes away by car without traffic, and Charles de Gaulle Airport can take more than an hour to reach in a cab. Getting to either by public transit takes about the same amount of time, and eliminates the unpredictability of Paris traffic.

Guest rooms tend to be function over fashion, with plain blond-wood furniture, wall-to-wall carpeting, and built-in shelving and nightstands. Botanical prints over the beds and striped curtains attempt to add a little decor, but just emphasize their outdatedness. Wear and tear can also be spotted throughout. But some rooms have been revamped with a fresher gray-and-white color palette and trendy damask wallpaper -- so it helps to request a renovated room when booking -- and all rooms have received new bedding. Standard amenities across all rooms include flat-screen TVs, small work desks, hairdryers, tea and coffee-making facilities. Each room has a private bathroom, but they vary greatly. In renovated rooms, bathrooms have sleek dark tiles, rainfall showerheads, and vessel sinks. On the other hand, older units have crusty plumbing and fixtures, and grout between the tiles show mold. Basic toiletries are available from wall dispensers. Note that most rooms lack air-conditioning and some guests complain the fans provided are inadequate. One show-stopping feature: The penthouse room at the top of the hotel has Eiffel Tower views.

As a value property, the Timhotel Tour Eiffel is fairly low-frills. There's no full restaurant or bar. Breakfast, available for a fee, is served in a tidy breakfast room, and in good weather, guests can make use of the hotel's courtyard as a sunny dining room or lounge space. Hii,does anyone know any super markets/monoprix close to the dupleix metro near eiffel tower?Also where would we get really good crepes around the same area

No problem finding a Monoprix or a Franprix anywhere in the area.

2 rue du Commerce at blvd de Grenelle, across from La Motte Picquet/Grenelle metro stop.

The one Travelnutty mentions is the biggest one near to where you are staying, right opposite MacDonalds. It's a very busy store, clothes downstairs, food above. I've always experienced long lines in there but can be out within 20 minutes if it's not the early evening peak.

You are right in saying it is a busy Monoprix but with a good inventory (just for wine you have lots!). And since it is on Rue du Commerve you have also access to lots of small stores PLUS the market across the street (twice a week I think)

Across the street from your hotel there is an open air market on Wed. and Sundays. You can see all the food stuff, but locals also go there for affordable clothing. There is lots o' junk, but some deeply discounted Petit Bateau, cashmere and Kickers. As well as some fun fashion.

There is a crepe stand across the street from the Monoprix, but for "really good" you have to go to Montparnasse, Ty Briezh (I think thats the name).

The cafe just out the door of your hotel is Le Dernier Metro. Looks like a dive, but has great food and a friendly local scene. On the boul Picquet there is a good cafe called Le Picquet and just after that the Bistrot Suffren. Both are good options for an unplanned dinner.

Hii,does anyone know any super markets/monoprix close to the dupleix metro near eiffel tower?Also where would we get really good crepes around the same area

No problem finding a Monoprix or a Franprix anywhere in the area.

Their websites will show you the exact locations.

2 rue du Commerce at blvd de Grenelle, across from La Motte Picquet/Grenelle metro stop.

The one Travelnutty mentions is the biggest one near to where you are staying, right opposite MacDonalds. It's a very busy store, clothes downstairs, food above. I've always experienced long lines in there but can be out within 20 minutes if it's not the early evening peak.

You are right in saying it is a busy Monoprix but with a good inventory (just for wine you have lots!). And since it is on Rue du Commerve you have also access to lots of small stores PLUS the market across the street (twice a week I think)

Across the street from your hotel there is an open air market on Wed. and Sundays. You can see all the food stuff, but locals also go there for affordable clothing. There is lots o' junk, but some deeply discounted Petit Bateau, cashmere and Kickers. As well as some fun fashion.

There is a crepe stand across the street from the Monoprix, but for "really good" you have to go to Montparnasse, Ty Briezh (I think thats the name).

The cafe just out the door of your hotel is Le Dernier Metro. Looks like a dive, but has great food and a friendly local scene. On the boul Picquet there is a good cafe called Le Picquet and just after that the Bistrot Suffren. Both are good options for an unplanned dinner.

Good location!”

The hotel is near the metro and just under 10 mins walk to Eiffel tower! The receptionist was friendly and accommodating, as they let me drop my bags off by 5am! The room was clean, especially the bathroom which I really liked. This hotel also has a lift which was important since some hotels in Paris do not have. The location is safe as I walked from the metro to the hotel at 5:00am, when it was still dark and it felt safe.

The staff are nice and the hotel is clean. The location is fantastic 15 min walk to the Eiffel Tower and 10 min to train. Lots of restaurants, cafes and grocery stores. Found a great Vegan restaurant about 20 min walk from the hotel.

Small room but good enough for one person. Location is just near the station and many nice restaurants nearby. Receptionists are kind and hospitable. Bathroom is small as well but clean and room was very warm.

We arrived Sept 24 for 4 nights and had booked 2 rooms . We took Uber from Gare De Lyon railway station. Mr. Joseph at the reception did a smooth check in . He was superb. He also gave lots of travel info for smooth travelling in Paris . Rooms are definitely small but this is Paris . I booked this hotel for convenient to visit Versailles, le. Louvre ,Eiffel. Tower etc. It is close to some fine bakeries ,restaurants,train and bus station. Though rooms, bathrooms elevator is small. I will stay here or in this area for convenience
