This was a brilliant trip organised by a more professional tour company. Thank you travel talk for the recent trip/experience that you organised for us. Your service is much more appreciated now that we can compare what you have done for us as compared with other tour operators like GeTS Holidays. Your brochure is far more transparent and accurate. You give your customers a better chance to take ownership of the trip as you highlight immediately what type of accommodation your customer will have and this gives your customer a chance to review and research your offering. By doing this, you show that you value your customers’ preference and satisfaction over making money. Of course every business should make a profit but at least your company do not come across as daylight robbery. We looked at your trips to India but did not choose your trips due to unavailability of Diwali Festival celebration. We went for a more expensive company but gave us very poor service. It’s a shame, we should have just stuck with you. One thing guaranteed, we look forward to booking with you again in the future and we will also be an ambassador to your brilliant service.

There were a lot of extra costs that think would be better included. Too much time spent travelling but that was what I signed up for so not criticising you guys but would not recommend to a friend for that reason. Hotel in Cairo very average in terms of rooms but service helpful. Camel ride was a bit of a joke given it’s brevity. I found the food generally disappointing in Egypt as too westernised, the best meals as far as I am concerned were definitely the ones with families and on the felucca

This is an amazing detail tour about the history. The food was really good but was disapointed to eat kfc to cater to one of the guys on the tour because he didn't feel safe eating the traditional food even though no one else got sick. I would love to have the chance to eat more egyptian food. Also would have been great if we had more time to take photos. I felt a little rush to enough everything. Moody was a great tour guide though and every educated about all the sites and he is very funny to. I defineltly recomend this to anyone. I always felt safe and healthy.

Astounding. Breathtaking. A glimpse into the past of the greatest civilization on Earth. George (Tamer) was our guide. I have never taken a tour before, and George's know how, knowledge, and personality had no bounds! He is the BEST tour guide, over flowing with love of his past and a passion that shines. Our 9 days were packed, which I love! You can sleep when you get home, but in the mean time, I tried to do all the extra excursions, because why not?! I love Egypt and it's profound history. This opportunity was a dream come true for me as an archaeologist! I HIGHLY recommend this tour and George!!! George is attentive, always made sure we understood and was clear on the days proceedings. I didn't have to worry about a thing, because George was on the ball 100% of the time. Please go. Please absorb. Thank you George, Egypt, my Phoenix group, Tour Radar, and Expat for an experience and perspective I'm still processing.

Enchanting Egypt Tours - Internal Flights Included Tour

Enchanting Egypt Tours - Internal Flights Included

We were a group of 7 people from Switzerland and did the "Enchanting Egypt Tours - Internal Flights Included" with the organizer "Beyond The Nile Tours". Everything was very well organized and the guides did a very good job. We would especially like to praise Mahmoud Noby. He fulfilled all of our wishes, even on the last day, when the tour was already over, he organized a boat and taxi for us. Mahmoud - THANK YOU SO MUCH. In Cairo we stayed in the “Tulip Golden Plaza” hotel and on the Nile in the “Princess Sarah” cruise ship. Both accommodations were fine, clean and with good meals. We didn't eat salad on the trip for fear of diarrhea. At the end of the trip we learned that in the kitchen the food was only washed with water from "controlled bottles". So we could have easily eaten the salad. Nobody in our group had diarrhea, and we didn't meet anyone else with diarrhea either. For us the highlights were: the pyramids, hot air balloon flight and the Valley of the Kings. We were surprised that photography is now allowed in the Valley of the Kings. When we were there in 2017, it was still strictly forbidden. The hot air balloon flight must be booked in addition. It will remain an unforgettable experience for us and we would repeat it at any time. Although the war in Egypt is close, we felt safe at all times. We love Egypt and the Nile and hope to come back soon.

Reviews of Nile Cruises

It was very informative and educational, but there were a lot of activities packed into the 11 days, leaving hardly any free time.
What a Great experience! The staff is so very friendly and our Guide Wael was very enthusiastic, friendly and knew a lot of fun facts and interesting stuff about everything! We absolutely recommend this trip.

Many thanks for great information!

Based on the review here, we booked on the Sonesta Moon Goddess March, 2023. We were disappointed. The rooms were indeed classic and comfortable. The carpets in the hall were old and stained. The HVAC systems in the room did not work properly despite engineering’s best efforts. Hot water was often hard to come by. The most disappointing element was the food. This was served buffet style, and almost never maintained hot. It was as if I had returned to my high school cafeteria. The staff were attentive and tried to please.

Today we visit the temple of Kom Ombo – its perfectly symmetrical twin entrances overlook the spectacular riverside. Continue along the Nile towards the city of Luxor, often described as the world’s greatest open-air museum and home to some of the grandest monuments that have survived from ancient Thebes. Overnight on your 5* Nile Cruise. Breakfast, lunch and dinner included. *Optional extra: Visit Abu Simbel – the stupendous Sun Temple of Ramses the Great, located at the southernmost tip of ancient Egypt’s borders.

Day 5 Nile Cruise to Luxor

After breakfast, we arrive in Luxor, beginning the day with a tour of the East Bank of the Nile. Here you will experience the immense Karnak Temple, considered by some as Egypt’s most important Pharonic site – the country’s powerhouse of ancient times; as well as the magnificent Luxor Temple where visitors are greeted by the impressive Avenue of Sphinxes. Overnight on your 5* Nile Cruise. Breakfast, lunch and dinner included.

Day 6 Luxor to Hurghada, Red Sea

After breakfast we explore the West Bank of Luxor, starting the tour with the world famous Valley of the Kings, the richest archaeological site on earth. Then on to the breathtaking Temple of Hatshepsut (Deir al-Bahri), built for the only woman to reign over Egypt as pharaoh. Finally we visit the great Colossi of Memnon – the last remains of Amenophis III’s temple. We then take the A/C bus to Hurghada, Red Sea. Overnight stay at your hotel in Hurghada.

Breakfast and dinner included.

Day 7 Hurghada, Red Sea

This is a free day to be spent at your leisure. With snorkeling, swimming, scuba diving and good food and drink available you will find much to do; or simply relax and enjoy the sun. Overnight stay at your hotel in Hurghada. Breakfast, lunch and dinner included.

Day 8 Cairo

Arrive in Cairo where you will be transferred to your hotel. Today we tour the City of Cairo, beginning with the Egyptian Museum where you may view the treasures of King Tutankhamun’s tomb. From there we head to the Coptic area of old Cairo to visit the hanging church, so named as it is suspended above two Roman gate towers. Then on to the Mosque of Mohamed Ali, also known as the Alabaster Mosque, which sits majestically on the summit of the Citadel of Saladin. Afterwards we make our way to the old Cairo Bazaar, Khan El Khalili, with its maze of intriguing alleyways that are home to numerous souvenir stalls and coffee shops. Overnight stay at your hotel in Cairo. Breakfast included.

Day 9 Cairo airport transfer

After breakfast, transfer to the airport. Take the memories of your adventures with you on your flight home. Breakfast included.

Accommodation

The hotels used on this tour are rated at the 3- and 4-star level in Egypt. Local star ratings may vary from international standards but we ensure that we use some of the best hotels available at the level stated. Accommodation is based on twin or double en-suite rooms with air conditioning.  The tour starts at the Oasis Hotel located in Giza 15-20 minutes from the Pyramids.

Address: Oasis Hotel, Alexandria Desert Rd, Giza Governorate, Egypt.

The hotels listed below are the ones that we frequently use on this tour. We reserve the right to substitute these hotels with ones of a similar standard.

Cairo: Oasis Hotel – Giza

Nile cruise: MS Symphony

Hurghada: Gravity Hotel & Aqua Park Hurghada

Nile Cruise:

The cruise boat has many of the facilities of a normal hotel, including restaurants, bars, shops, a relaxing sun deck and a swimming pool. Nile cruise boat itineraries are subject to alterations depending on local conditions at the time of travel. Some sailing may be done after dark. Boats may moor up alongside each other at night, requiring you to cross through other boats to reach the shore.

Transportation

Airport Pick-Up and Transfer:

Your tour includes a 24-hour airport meet & assist service from Cairo International Airport – your arrival and departure airport-hotel transfers and all other transfers.

On arrival in Egypt our representative will meet you before passport control. They will assist with visa formalities and then help you with your luggage and take you to your hotel.  Please inform us of your flight details (date of flight, flight number, arrival time and name of travellers) at least 10 days prior to your arrival for the confirmed arrangement of your transfer.

Your airport transfers are only included on the first and last day of the set tour itinerary unless you have booked any additional accommodation with us either before or after the set dates. If you make your own arrangements for additional accommodation at either the beginning or the end of the tour then you will need to arrange your own airport transfers on these days.

In Egypt, we use AC minivans/minibuses/coaches, many of which are fitted with speed limiters, and all are inspected and checked daily.

Flight upgrade from Cairo to Aswan:

Upgrade your journey to flight from Cairo to Aswan for only £150 GBP per person including extra night hotel accommodations instead of 14 hours bus ride. Please note, the flight from Cairo to Aswan will depart either on Sunday evening or early Monday morning depending on availability.

Please find below the distances between the sights visited in Egypt and the approximate driving times. We will always strive to take a short break every few hours to enable passengers to stretch their legs, purchase snacks and use wash facilities during long drives.

Aswan – Luxor: 247 kms – 3 hrs Cairo – Aswan: 982 kms – 12 hrs Aswan – Abu Simbel: 309 kms – 3.5 hrs Luxor – Cairo: 735 kms – 9 hrs Luxor – Hurghada: 298 KMs – 3.5 to 4hrs

Entrance fees:

Egypt – please allow approximately US$140 for all entrance fees for the sights visited on this tour. Your guide will be happy to collect payment for all the entrance fees at the start of the tour, and pay them for you as you go along if you wish.

Egypt- Tipping is also very much a part of Egyptian culture and customs, and many people you meet along the way will expect and make it clear they are waiting for a tip. To make it easier for you to budget and to remove much of the stress and hassle of tipping lots of people as you go along, we collect US$50 a ‘Tipping Kitty’ at the start of your time in Egypt. Your guide will manage this as the tour goes along and ask one or more of the group members to assist and make some of the payments. The kitty provides tips for a wide range of people you’ll meet along the tour including hotel porters, train and station staff, drivers, site guards, local reps etc. your satisfaction with and appreciation of the service they have provided.  Again, you should not feel obliged to.

Your Egyptologist guide is not included in this kitty and you may tip them at the end of your tour subject to tip any particular amount, and should consider your personal budget. As a guideline, approx. US$3-8 per person per day would be appropriate.

Passports and Visas:

Egypt- passports should be valid for at least six months after your departure from the country. Please do not bring an almost full or almost expired passport. Visa arrangements are the responsibility of the traveller, and requirements are subject to change by the local authorities. We recommend that you contact your closest Egyptian consulate or embassy for current information about your nationality.

In general, the official advice is that all nationalities obtain their Egypt visas in advance, as we cannot guarantee that you can get them at the airport. An online e-visa is available through https://visa2egypt.gov.eg/eVisa/ . Please do not use any other website as there are many scam sites offering Egypt e-visas. In practice, however, many nationalities (including British and European, Australian, New Zealand, and USA) can and do obtain their visas on arrival at Cairo airport. The process is much quicker and simpler, the cost is currently US$25 p/p and must be paid in hard currency (i.e., GBP, USD or EUR) – you’ll be given change in local currency if necessary. There are no forms to fill in and you don’t need to bring passport photos. Visas are

issued at one of the bank desks in the immigration hall before you get to passport control. Our representative will have met you by this stage and will assist with the process.

All African & Indian nationals, and some others, will need to obtain their visas in advance.

For further information on your visa requirements, please your local Egyptian embassy/consulate

Nile River Cruise

We booked a cruise with Tourradar from Luxor to Aswan. Hany was our contact and he organized our trip. When we got to Luxor the cruise that we booked had an itinerary change which we did not like as well. We contacted Hany and within half an hour he changed our boat to comply with our original plan. We were extremely happy with the response from Hany and all the members of his team! Thank you Hany for supporting us! Janice & Ric

Before booking our 3 night cruise i tried to find as much information as i could about the cruises. However there was not much information and i could not verify if what my egyptian travel agent was telling me was true. So here i try to clarify a few things from my experience about the 3 night cruise. 1. My agent told me that he could only book cruise from Aswan to Luxor. This is not true. You can cruise from Luxor to Aswan. Many cruises go both ways although departure days will vary. 2. We do not know which cruise will sail.and where u be. Again not true. You can know and also book yourself on any cruise of your choice. If the agent tries this nonsense say thank you and find another one that will confirm.your booking on one. 3. Are they good. Well some are. These like MS sudan. MS Farah or MS sonesta st. George. However many are not great. Ours was the Opera although we were booked on Sun Times but the agent told us at the last minute that the motor on sun times had broken. Of course that was not true but this is Egypt. People lie and have no shame. So if you want to have a good cruise do yourself a favor choose a high end one call to find sailing days and times and cost and compare with what your agent is offering. Get everything on paper. 3. Regular cruises are plenty. They all sail at same time.and arrrive at temples at the same time. Which means u will see the sites with hordes of people. If you dont want this then go the higher end. 4. Food. Again in our cruise was horrible but it may be differeny in yours. However in many regular cruises food is a major issue. 5. Do.you want to.visit a site at 4 30 am ? Well regular cruises have awkward times to see.sights and usually allow an.hour or so at each stop. Check.these in advance. 6. In our regular cruise to go to.Abu Simbel we had to leave our cruise at 4 am from Aswan and return by 1 pm to sail at 2pm. Again not.much flexibility. 7. At other times.we had too.much time and the agents purposely book much time from.arrival at port to.departure from airport to Cairo so they can sell you excursions. Regular cruises arrive at 6 pm and you need to check out by noon the next day so book flights accordingly. Overall if you dont go.high.end dont.expect.much from.the cruise. No.matter what name they are.not.good. in our cruise.there was.no free.wifi. it was expensive to buy. Water is also not included so be prepared. Although we did buy snacks and water before boarding at at sites so you can do this. There is no water kettle in the rooms. Tip the guys early around 50 EGP so you get slightly better service throughout the 3 days. Just get all your details ahead of time. Plan and negotiate excursions ahead of time with.your agent. Confirm.your cruise name. Get one which has windows that open.

The Nile cruise was part of Saga’s “From the Nile to the Red Sea” holiday. First holiday with Saga and it was extremely well organised. The highlight of the holiday was definitely the Nile cruise aboard the Livingstone ( known locally as the Amwaj ) cruise ship. Only 4 years old and very luxurious. We were lucky enough to be upgraded from a Junior Suite which would have been very nice to one of 2 Presidential Suites which was extremely nice. The crew were amazing and couldn’t do enough for you. The bar staff were professional when they needed to be but made sure that the guests joined in with the evening entertainment and were themselves very entertaining. The food and drinks were exceptional on the Saga all inclusive package. Couldn’t fault the ship at all. The day trips to see the Valley of the Kings etc were well worth doing and very well organised. Egypt can be intimidating because of the street sellers and the stall holders at the attractions particularly if don’t like saying no or don’t like bartering. However if you venture into the local markets (Souks) away from where the ships dock you are generally left alone. Due to a lack of tourism recently the sellers are all competing for a much smaller market so their hard sell techniques are probably more understandable. Despite a huge armed police/security presence everywhere which is strange for us Brits to see, Egypt felt safe and the recent bad press after the Arab Spring stuff in 2011 should not put you off visiting. In fact it is probably a good time to visit because the Nile is much less crowded with cruise ships and the temples and museums are much less busy. The Egyptians are very keen to see the British tourists coming back to their country. Enjoy Egypt.

Experienced the cruise from Aswan to Luxer. It was a three night cruise. All sailings were on time. The service on board was immaculate. The visits to the temples and the ground transportation was perfect. The guide mr Mohamed Abd ElRahim was so knowledgeable that made the entire trip so enjoyable. The cleanliness of the rooms and bathrooms was excellent. I highly recommend this experience.

Nile cruise should be undertaken by everyone. SO SO peaceful - all together another pace of life. cant wait to do one again,

Booked a Nile cruise through my hotel - Novotel El Borg. The name cruise company is Andrea. They did really good job. We had music, singing, belly dancing and Turkish whirl dancing. The food was good. Should go out and have look or it’s gonna be like you entered a hole and before you know it you’ll be back to the pickup point.

Experiences of a lifetime

Few places inspire with ancient sites and treasures untold quite like Egypt does... home to a storied legacy of history that dates back to the days of Neolithic Age in 6000 BC. Considered a cradle of civilization, Egypt's enduring achievements are chronicled in temples, tombs and pyramids thousands of years old, in humble feluccas and sailing ships seaworthy still, along the banks of the life-giving Nile, and in traditions and celebrations timeless all.

Cruise the Nile in search of ancient Egyptian temples and antiquities on a 10-day journey that includes 4 nights aboard a luxury riverboat, and shore excursions in Aswan, Luxor, and Old Cairo. Begin with visits to the Great Sphinx and the Pyramids of Giza, with an overnight stay at Mena House, a luxury hotel with gardens and terraces overlooking the pyramids. Fly to Luxor for private visits to the tombs of Tutankhamun and Nefertari, then set off on a Nile River odyssey to sites that include the Temples of Karnak and the Avenue of Sphinxes... the twin Castle of the Falcon and House of the Crocodile, with its collection of crocodile mummies, at Kom Ombo... the massive, stunningly preserved Temple of Horus at Edfu... the Philae Temples on Agilika Island, a complex of temples, sculptures, and monuments that span architectural periods from ancient Egyptian to Byzantine... Abu Simbel, the grand lakeside temple with colossal statues of Ramses II, cut from the side of a mountain; in 1968 Abu Simbel was disassembled and moved to its present location, a feat of engineering as astonishing as the temple itself. With only 22 luxury suites your Oberoi riverboat offers spacious accommodations, large windows, and panoramic views. Shore excursions include felucca boat rides, a photo-stop at the Dahshur Pyramids, dining at local restaurants, and visits to Old Cairo landmarks, including the Hanging Church, Ben Ezra Synagogue, the Al Rifai Mosque, and the Khan El-Khalili Market.

In addition to exploring some of the oldest and most famous man-made structures and monuments on Earth, you'll experience some ancient local methods of transport that have been around for thousands of years, and are still in use today... like riding a horse-cart to the Temple of Horus at Edfu and cruising the fabled Nile aboard a traditional felucca at sunset.

After-hours Valley of the Kings visit

A private, after-hours visit to the valley of the kings.

Occupying a site west of the Nile River in Egypt's Theban Necropolis near modern-day Luxor, the Valley of the Kings contains more than 60 identified tombs created for Pharaohs and noble families more than 3,000 years ago. Your Tauck travels include a private, after-hours visit to this UNESCO World Heritage Site… including entry to the complex's most famous tomb of them all, discovered intact in the 1920s… that of the "Boy King," Tutankhamun!

If you are a U.S. citizen traveling internationally , you will need a passport valid for six months beyond the completion of your Tauck journey for entry into Egypt.

If you are citizen of another country traveling internationally, please contact an embassy or consulate of Egypt to determine what travel documentation is required.

In addition to a valid passport, U.S., British and Australian citizens are also required to have a visa to enter Egypt.  The Egyptian visa, paid for by Tauck, will be provided to guests by the Tauck representative upon arrival at Cairo International Airport. Please Note: Effective October 1, 2023 Canadian citizens will need to apply for a paper VISA from the nearest Egyptian Embassy or Consulate for entry into Egypt; e-visas will no longer be issued to Canadian citizens.

Please note that longer stays abroad for any purpose may require additional travel documentation.

All guests are required to provide their passport information to us at time of booking.

We strongly recommend that you make at least two photocopies of all the travel documents that you bring with you. Include copies of the photo page of your passport that contains the date of issuance, the date of expiration and your citizenship. Secure one set of copies in the safe in your room while traveling and leave one set behind with someone at home who will assist you in the event your documents are misplaced, lost or stolen.

To facilitate Travel Requirements, destinations are increasingly utilizing online forms that require digital proof that you've successfully completed your submission (via an email, QR code, etc.) To ensure smooth travels and peace of mind, we strongly recommend all guests carry a personal smart phone and sign up for international data plans before traveling overseas.

TRAVELING WITH CHILDREN AS A GUARDIAN: If you are traveling as the guardian of a child/children, we strongly suggest that you carry a letter from both parents of the child authorizing emergency treatment in the event of illness or accident. For travel abroad, many foreign countries have specific entry requirements for children under 21 who are traveling internationally without BOTH parents. (These requirements are in response to the increased incidence of children being abducted and taken abroad.) PLEASE NOTE THAT TAUCK IS NOT RESPONSIBLE for the disruption of travel caused by improper documentation for children traveling without both parents.

This optional Guest Protection must be requested at time of booking and fee must be included with initial payment. Fees are based on costs as of July 2021, and are subject to change. Details will be provided with written confirmation of your tour reservation. Guest Protection does not protect travel agent commissions. Reimbursements will be made according to original method of payment. The amount of any refund shall be reduced by any recoveries obtained by you from any third parties.

The Guest Protection plan waives cancellation fees outlined below, provided we are notified of cancellation before your tour departs. Tour cancellation fees are waived regardless of reason, without written notice, and Tauck will refund land tour cost.

Air Information and Luggage Restrictions

AIRFARE: Airfare to and from this destination is not included in the journey cost. If purchasing your air elsewhere, it is very important to provide us with your confirmed arriving and departing flight information no later than 3 weeks before your arrival date. Flight information can be submitted to Tauck (or verified, if you've already provided it) in the My Account section of Tauck.com.

TAUCK AIRPORT TRANSFERS are included at the start and end of the journey between the airport and the Tauck hotel. Airport transfers are available for any pre tour or post tour hotel stays immediately consecutive to the tour, providing flight information is received in the Tauck office no later than three weeks in advance. Details on locating your transfer upon arrival to the tour start city will be included in your final documents.

AIRLINES and CHECKED LUGGAGE: Due to space limitations during your Tauck journey, we ask that you please limit your checked luggage to one average-size suitcase per person. Besides complying with the Tauck restriction noted above, you should also be sure to research and comply with all airline baggage restrictions relating to your flights to and from your Tauck journey. Airlines have become much more strict in enforcing size and weight limits in recent years, and are free to revise luggage policies without notice. Researching and complying with airline luggage restrictions is the responsibility of the guest, and Tauck cannot be held responsible for any costs or disruptions to travel caused by the failure to research and comply with airline policies. PLEASE NOTE that if you are booked on a tour that includes on-tour flights, the checked luggage weight restrictions for these flights may be lower than the weight restrictions for your international flights.

Checked Luggage – General

Due to space restrictions, we ask that you please limit your checked luggage to one suitcase per person weighing no more than 50 pounds (23 kg) and with overall dimensions (length + width + height) not exceeding 62 inches (158 cm).

Besides complying with the Tauck restriction noted above, you should also be sure to research and comply with all airline baggage restrictions relating to your flights to and from your Tauck journey. Airlines have become much more strict in enforcing size and weight limits in recent years, and luggage exceeding airline standards for size or weight may result in expensive overage fees or other consequences.

Airlines are free to revise luggage policies without notice, and certain airlines have different baggage allowances for different classes of service. Researching and complying with airline luggage restrictions is the responsibility of the guest, and Tauck cannot be held responsible for any costs or disruptions to travel caused by the failure to research and comply with airline policies.

Tauck luggage tags will be provided by your Tauck Director on Day 1 of your itinerary. Please do not attach a Tauck luggage tag to any carry-on items, as the Tauck tags designate luggage that is to be handled and transferred by ground operators and hotel staff during your journey.

Besides the checked luggage limitations noted above, you are allowed to bring one piece of carry-on luggage aboard your intra-tour flights, weighing no more than 17 pounds (8 kg) and with overall dimensions 21" x 10" x 14" (55cm x 25cm x 35 cm).

Carry-on Luggage – General

Although oversize bags and wheeled, carry-on luggage are popular for airline travel, they are often not convenient or appropriate for motor coach travel or for many on-tour flights. Most modern sightseeing motor coaches offer limited space for numerous or larger items. Space under seats or in the overhead rack is typically small, and designed to accommodate items like coats, hats, purses, and small camera bags, etc.

For your day-to-day travel while on tour, we recommend that you limit your hand luggage to a small, soft-sided carry-on piece, and that you bring only those items you need handy during the day such as make-up, medications, cameras, film, etc. Items too large to fit under the motor coach seat or on the overhead rack must be stored in the luggage bays beneath the motor coach, and may be inaccessible during daytime travel.

Health, Safety and Mobility

HEALTH CONSIDERATIONS

Throughout the tour, we will provide you with clean and safe drinking water.

If you have a medical condition that might limit your participation in activities, please consult your physician for pre-departure health advice and notify us as soon as possible, if you have not already done so. We will advise your Tauck Director accordingly.

Please check with your health insurance provider to determine whether you are covered while traveling. If you will not be covered under your current policy, we strongly suggest that you arrange for adequate coverage while on tour.

VACCINATION REQUIREMENTS AND RECOMMENDATIONS

Some of the countries visited on this itinerary may require travelers to provide proof of vaccination against certain diseases in order to enter the country.  These requirements are subject to frequent change as outbreaks occur and subside in different areas, and it is therefore crucial that you obtain the very latest information on entry requirements as you prepare for your journey.

For the most current information, please consult the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) by clicking here  and the World Health Organization (WHO) by clicking here . You may also wish to visit the web sites for the embassies of the countries you will be visiting.  Besides providing details on vaccination requirements, these sites can also provide information on vaccinations that may be recommended (but aren't required) and other potential health issues for which no vaccines are available.

Any decisions relating to your health, of course, should not be based solely on information provided by a web site.  It is critically important that you consult with your personal physician prior to your journey to obtain any required vaccinations and to review any optional recommendations offered by the CDC or other sources.

Please be sure to discuss your journey with your physician at least four to six weeks in advance of your departure, as certain vaccinations take time to become fully effective.  Also, be certain to ask your physician for proof of any vaccinations you receive, and to pack this proof along with your other travel documents in your carry-on luggage (not in your checked luggage).

Researching and complying with vaccination entry requirements for the countries visited on this itinerary is the responsibility of the traveler and not Tauck. Tauck is therefore not responsible for any expenses incurred or disruptions to travel caused by improper or incomplete vaccinations, or by the failure to provide proof of required vaccinations.

If you do not obtain the necessary vaccinations and proper documentation, you may be denied entry into one or more countries, or temporarily quarantined until the necessary vaccinations are administered, or until proper documentation is provided.

SPECIAL DIETARY REQUESTS

The restaurants, hotels, caterers and numerous other partners we work with all do their best to accommodate special dietary requests from Tauck guests. However, given the diverse nature of those food providers (from small wineries to grand hotels to world-famous restaurants in more than 70 countries worldwide), some of our partners are better able than others to accommodate such requests. We therefore cannot guarantee that all dietary requests can be accommodated at every meal. Also, please note that where dietary requests can be accommodated, choices will frequently be limited.

Egypt: Jewels of the Nile is an active tour. You should be in good health, able to climb into and out of a small boat and walk reasonable distances over unpaved and uneven terrain. Many of our walking excursions are in and around ancient sites and old city quarters. The amount of walking you do, however, is at your discretion.

PLEASE NOTE:  We regret that this Tauck itinerary cannot accommodate wheelchairs or motorized scooters.  Likewise, we regret that we're unable to provide individual assistance to guests with walking difficulties or other personal needs.  The responsibility of the Tauck Director who accompanies your trip is to ensure that the larger group enjoys a relaxing and informative journey, and he or she cannot be relied upon to provide ongoing individual assistance to any one guest. Guests requiring such individualized assistance must be accompanied by an able-bodied companion who can provide it.

Please check with your health insurance provider to determine whether you are covered while traveling. If you will not be covered under your current policy, we strongly suggest that you arrange for adequate coverage while on tour.

Reading List

We have compiled a reading list of recommended books to give you more information about the destinations you will be traveling to on your upcoming journey!

You can view the reading list  here .

Egypt essentially has a hot desert climate. The climate is generally extremely dry all over the country except on the northern Mediterranean coast which receives rainfall in winter. In addition to rarity of rain, extreme heat during summer months is also a general climate feature of Egypt although daytime temperatures are more moderated along the northern coast. The prevailing northwesterly wind from the Mediterranean Sea continuously blows over the northern coast without the interposition of an eventual mountain range and thus, greatly moderates temperatures throughout the year. Because of the effect, average low temperatures vary from 9.5 °C (49.1 °F) in wintertime to 23 °C (73.4 °F) in summertime and average high temperatures vary from 17 °C (62.6 °F) in wintertime to 32 °C (89.6 °F) in summertime. Though temperatures are moderated along the coasts, the situation changes in the interior, which are away from the moderating northerly winds. Thus, in the central and the southern parts, daytime temperatures are hotter, especially in summers where average high temperatures can exceed 40 °C (104 °F) like in Aswan , Luxor , Asyut or Sohag which are located in the deserts of Egypt.

To determine current weather conditions, we suggest you log on to the Internet website, noaa.gov, by clicking here.

What To Pack

Your journey through Egypt is casual. Comfortable, cotton clothing is suggested. Dress for comfort and convenience with a wardrobe that is adaptable and allows for layering. Please be aware that some of the sights we visit, require both men and women to have their knees and shoulders covered, and in some cases wear long pants. Once on tour, your tour director will advise you on appropriate attire.

For travel from January through May and August through December, you will need a light jacket or fleece, a light sweater for air conditioning in the planes and coaches, and perhaps a small umbrella for the sun, though not for rain. For travel December through February, which are the coolest months of the year in Egypt, a jacket or sweater will be needed for early mornings and at night but it generally stays in the high seventies and low eighties during the day.  At the Sofitel Hotel in the 1902 restaurant, smart casual dress is required. Gentlemen are required to wear a jacket and ladies must wear nice slacks or a dress. The hotel does loan jackets to guests. Sandals are not acceptable on men, ladies can wear nice sandals.

Most importantly, bring comfortable yet sturdy walking shoes that have already been broken-in. It is important that your shoes have good ankle support, as we visit some ancient sites where paths and stairs may be uneven and unpaved. Open-toed shoes and flip flops are not recommended for visits to Petra and most of the Egyptian sites due to the sand and the rocky walking conditions.

Valet laundry services are available at all the hotels.

Beyond your normal wardrobe and personal grooming items, we suggest you also bring along:

  • Comfortable walking shoes (VERY IMPORTANT)
  • Rainwear, such as a raincoat and rain hat, plus a collapsible umbrella
  • Short and long-sleeved shirts/tee shirts (for the warmer, summer months. Extra tee shirts are always a good idea). Please make sure you have your shoulders covered for monuments. Jacket for men and cocktail dress and slacks/dress for women for evening wear
  • Long shorts and pants (many of the sights require both men and women to have-shorts that cover their knees and in some cases require you to wear long pants)
  • Sweater; lightweight for summer, and medium weight for spring/fall
  • Camera, lenses, batteries, chargers and extra memory cards
  • Sunscreen and hat
  • Small flashlight
  • Insect repellent
  • Travel alarm clock/cell phone with alarm function (many hotels do not have clocks in the rooms)
  • Prescription medicines (an adequate supply to last your journey), and written

Copies of your prescriptions from your doctor. While it may be possible to refill prescriptions during your journey, the availability of refills cannot be guaranteed. What's more, refilling prescriptions in foreign countries can be difficult and time-consuming.

Please refer to the Necessary Gear website at www.necessarygear.com  as one option available to you for renting and purchasing apparel, PPEs, and other items appropriate for your journey.

Nile River Tours and Vacation Packages

nile cruises tourradar

The longest river in the world, the Nile is a major north-flowing river in northeastern Africa .  While synonymous with Egypt, the Nile is an international river as its water sources are shared by eleven countries. It is also the heart of river cruising on Egypt tours.

The northern section of the Nile flows through the desert into Egypt and has proven to be the lifeline of Egyptian civilizations since ancient times. The silt deposited from the annual flooding made the surrounding land incredibly fertile. As a result, the ancient Egyptians, who were mainly farmers, were successful in the cultivation of many crops. When the river flooded each year, the farmers were drafted as labourers to work on building projects like the Pyramids. The Nile was also very important spiritually and was considered the causeway from life to death to the afterlife.

About the Nile River

Just as in ancient times, the Nile is still the primary water source in Egypt today. It supports much of the population with many of Egypt’s cities, such as Aswan , Cairo and Luxor , located on its banks. The land is still fertile allowing Egyptians to inhabit otherwise uninhabitable areas of the Sahara Desert. Visitors on Egypt tours are encouraged to embark on a Nile River cruise where they will get a unique view of some of the country’s most famous sites as they watch five thousand years of history and culture float by.
