Side Alanya City Tour Itinerary

Your tour begins when you are picked up by air conditioned coach, from your Side hotel or apartment, and your guide introduces themself.  When all are on board, coach heads for the ancient city of Alanya.

First stop on this itinerary will be Dripstone Cave.  You will have the chance to explore the vast underground caverns and lakes. An ideal opportunity for taking the more unusual photographs of your holiday.

After the caves you will head upwards via the cable car that ascends to Alanya Castle.  The cable car is 900 metres in length, 14 cars can hold a maximum of 8 people and undergoes rigorous safety and maintenance checks, for your safety and peace of mind.

Ater the castle and your descent back down to Alanya you will have a short boat trip, wher you can see the sea caves around the shoreline.

By this point you should have built up quite an appetite so your next stop will be the Dimcay River and picnic area.  An area of outstanding beauty,  where you will have lunch, relaxation time and an optional swim in the river.

Perfekt wie immer

Pünktlich vom Hotel abgeholt, deutschsprechender Reiseleiter bereits an Bord. Da mehrere Nationalitäten im Bus waren (im Februar gibt es nicht so viele Touristen hier), hat dieser alles in (sehr gutem) Deutsch und in Englisch erzählt. Nach Ankunft in Alanyas Hafen hatten wir zunächst etwas Zeit für eigene Erkundungen. Anschließend eine Stunde auf einem Piratenschiff durch das Hafenbecken und um die Halbinsel herum. Danach mit dem Bus zum Dim Fluss zum Mittagessen. Terrassenlokal direkt am Fluss. Man hatte die Wahl zwischen Fisch und Hähnchenspießen, dazu konnten wir uns vom Salatbuffet bedienen. Essen war einfach, aber frisch und sehr lecker. Anschließend Fahrt zum Kleopatra Strand. Zeit für Seilbahnfahrt (inklusive) auf den Burgberg. Sehr empfehlenswert, tolle Aussicht. Danach sind wir noch in die Damlatas-Tropfsteinhöhle (Eintritt 2€) direkt am Strand gegangen. Ganz hübsch, aber sehr klein. Dauert nur wenige Minuten. Dann auf der Rückfahrt zu den Hotels noch ein kurzer Stopp an einer Bananenplantage. Insgesamt ein toller Ausflug, gut organisiert, netter Reiseleiter, keine Verkaufsveranstaltung! Sehr gutes Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis. Ich buche meine Tagesausflüge in der Türkei ausschließlich bei Vigotours, besser geht es einfach nicht!

Side Alanya City Tour Program

Your unforgettable journey begins when a comfortable, air-conditioned coach picks you up from your hotel at 8:00 am. The journey takes only one hour and goes along the Mediterranean coast. You will be transferred to the port where you will board the boat and begin your journey along the Alanya coast.

Don’t forget your swimwear, hats, sunglasses and creams. After a pleasant boat ride, head to the port where you’ll board a bus bound for the Dim River. At the Dim River you will find a delicious lunch at a cafe.

After charging, take the bus to Alanya city center. You will visit a unique Turkish bazaar where you will find everything your heart desires at affordable prices. You will have 2 hours of free time to stroll the pretty streets, choose souvenirs or have traditional coffee at a local restaurant. After a busy day of shopping, you can relax with a stroll along the soft sands of Cleopatra Beach, take a dip in the azure waters and continue your exciting adventure.

The next point of the journey will be Alanya Castle and Damlatas Cave . Not far from Cleopatra Beach, there is a cable car that takes you to the top where Alanya Fortress is located, which offers simply stunning views of the city and the coast.

Then you can visit Damlatas Cave which has unique healing air and is also incredibly beautiful and mysterious.

Unfortunately all good things come to an end and you are already waiting for a transfer on your way back. At 20:00 you will arrive back at your hotel.

Alanya Coast

Alanya is an amazing city on a peninsula lapped by the Mediterranean Sea. The area has a pleasantly warm climate, which means that even tropical fruits can be grown here. The city is one of the most popular resort areas thanks to its developed infrastructure and affordable prices. The resort is famous for its beautiful beaches, and young people are amazed by the rich nightlife. Millions of tourists yearly seek relaxation in Alanya.

The city has a rich history dating back to the 2nd century BC. dates back to Once the area served as a base for pirates who hunted robberies at sea, here they healed wounds and hid the stolen treasures. And in 67, the city was freed from lawlessness by the Roman Emperor Mark Antony and given to his beloved Queen Cleopatra.

Turkish Bazaar

After a delicious lunch, you will have the opportunity to explore the arsenal of the Turkish Bazaar. Turkish bazaars are famous for their huge selection of interesting household items, clothes and sweets at affordable prices. The market rages with bright colors from fresh vegetables and fruit, oriental spices and colorful fabrics. Here you can find many souvenirs, clothes, shoes, bags, hookahs, carpets and much more. Many workshops with unique handmade products.

Don’t forget to exchange your cash for lira and happy shopping.

Cleopatra Beach

You will visit the beach given to Queen Cleopatra by her suitor Mark Antony. The Roman emperor had tons of sand brought from the Nile to a scenic beach to create the perfect vacation spot worthy of his beloved queen. The sand on the beach is snow-white and quite large, it does not heat up much in the scorching sun, so it is comfortable to walk on it in any weather. You can walk barefoot on the soft white sand and swim in the warm sea. The place has developed infrastructure, you can find cafes, souvenir shops and latrines everywhere.

Cable car and Alanya Fortress

The easiest way to get to Alanya Fortress is by cable car. The path passes in a pleasant environment and you have a beautiful view of the Alanya coast. In 10 minutes you can reach the top, nearby is the Alanya Fortress. The castle is a medieval fortress built by a Seljuk sultan in the 13th century. The castle is surrounded by impregnable walls and the general atmosphere is very mysterious.

Damlatas Cave

The Damlatas Cave was discovered in 1948, prompting an immediate interest from Turks who wanted to improve their health. The cave is located in the western part, not far from the fortress. You enter through a 50 meter long corridor, after which you are in a cylindrical hall. From where the stairs go down, you reach the bottom of the cave. Above your head you will notice beautiful stalactites on which drops of water cascade down. Scientists have determined the age of some of them, and it was 15,000 years old. The air in the cave is 95% humid and has some healing properties that help treat respiratory diseases and asthma. Turkish doctors recommend patients to visit the cave in courses for 21 days,

The cruise was loudly advertised by them with photos of cheerful jumping dolphins, so we also expected it to be something like a safari. We know that dolphins are wild animals and they don't always show themselves, but how could they possibly swim under the ship if the music was so loud that it would burst their eardrums? They played music like from a disco and made foam with a machine where people were "dancing", and you either fell into a wild trance (you must have had a few paid beers) or looked at it with embarrassment. It was half and half. Besides, this whole "cruise" was a terrible commercial activity, and the methods of extorting money were truly mafia-like. A simple example: One guy was walking with a parrot, putting it on tourists' shoulders, then putting it in his arms, and the other one was taking photos. Then they disappeared somewhere for two hours and came back with several hundred photos from that cruise developed and they were asking for 5 euros (!) for each photo. In addition, they made some ceramic mug saucers with our images and collages framed in wooden frames. I didn't even ask how much it costs. We were simply sorry that they wasted so much photographic paper and ceramics on photos that no one would buy. Dinner was a hit. You could choose fish (trout, I think) or chicken. Everything served with rice and salad. My wife had concerns about the cleanliness of the cutlery. She sprayed them with disinfectant and wiped them with a tissue, and rightly so, the tissue was all yellow. All Germans then borrowed this liquid from us. We stopped in this supposed village twice, just to spend money with their friends. The crew was terrible, just filth. One of the main ones who talked into the microphone during the cruise got a nickname from us "lollo pierdollo" because he just went around and hit on old German chicks. The bus we rode in had no windows. The children were blown away so much that they howled. The only thing that was cool and unusual was that they anchored the ship near this island of dolphins and you could jump into the sea and take a bath. The sights were spectacular and the swim break at green lake was amazing! Great water fights with other buses throughout the day - please note if you’re a grumpy old German couple who has no interest in having fun or getting wet (like the miserable sods we had on our bus) then this is not for you! We were then taken to the ancient ruins then a stop off at the green lake with a boat trip provided whilst lunch was prepared. Lunch was served and then there was some free time to go for a swim or enjoy a foam party. Afterwards we got back on the bus and taken to the dam and the Manavgat waterfalls which both were excellent. We were then dropped off at the hotel again. A fabulous tour and Vulcan was excellent as a tour guide. He spoke excellent English, there was singing and dancing on the bus and we had waterfights with the other tours. The trip itself was 3 stops with only one you were able to jump off the boat. The other two were at the same place at the start and the end which was on the beach at the mouth of the river. Funny enough this was also where they had jet skies and a cafe which was clearly operated by them also. The guide was excellent and he was available the whole trip. Was picked up on the hotel buy a bus. I think the guides name was Kaadir 5 stars to you! • In the 13th century, after the capture of the Seljuks, the city began to bear the name Alaya in honor of the Seljuk Sultan Ala ad-Din Kei-Kubad I, and became the most important port on the entire Mediterranean Sea.
• Alanya the modern name to which everyone has long been accustomed, the city received only in 1933 under the rule of the first President of the Republic of Turkey Kemal Ataturk.
• Kyzyl Kule, or the Red Tower, is an outstanding historical landmark and symbol of the city of Alanya, the image of which can be found on a developing flag, on souvenirs, and on an advertising booklet.
• The Red Tower was built in the 12th century, or more precisely in 1226, under the rule of the Seljuk Sultan Ala ad-Din Kei-Kubad I. The architect from Allepo Ebu Ali Rehcha el-Kettani was appointed responsible for the construction of this structure. The citadel was intended to become a support for the existing walls of the fortress and protect the newly built, at that time, Tersane shipyard.
• The appearance of Kyzyl Kule is very interesting. It is a five-storey building built of red brick in the shape of an octagon. It is thanks to the color of the building material that it got its name, which means "Red Tower" in Turkish. The height of the tower is 33 meters, and the diameter is 29 meters. On the roof, which, as befits any tower, is decorated with stone teeth, you can climb high steps. From it, the city and everything around it turns out to be "in the palm of your hand". Interestingly, the sunlight penetrating through the upper loopholes reaches the first floor, on which the Ethnographic Museum of Alanya has been equipped since 1979.
• The Tersane Shipyard is part of a medieval fortress. It was built in 1228. Until 1361, ships of the Mediterranean fleet were built, repaired and wintered here. The shipyard was built of brick and rubble, its length is 56 meters and width is 44 meters, it consists of 5 docks and office premises. The docks themselves, or chambers, were 42.5 meters deep and had vaulted ceilings, the height of which reached 7.7 meters. They are interconnected by through passages. Today there is a museum in the Tersan shipyard, which presents an exposition dedicated to the shipbuilding of that time.
• The medieval fortress is built on a rocky peninsula and rises 250 meters above the sea. Its construction began in 1226 under Sultan Ala ad-Din Kei-Kubad I.
• The fortress defended the city from three sides. A 6-kilometer wall encircles the mountain, and behind it there are many city buildings that have survived to this day.
• Then the whole of Alanya was located on the slopes of the mountain. Today, the old town has turned into a real open-air museum with an area of 10 hectares.
• At the very top there is another, inner fortress Ich Kale. Local residents moved into it during the siege of the city, stored provisions, water and ammunition in it.
• Cleopatra Beach is one of the most beautiful and popular holiday destinations not only in Alanya, but also in Turkey as a whole. It is surrounded by the Tauride Mountains, overgrown with coniferous forest, and has a length of 2.5 km. The coast, which is covered with golden coarse sand, with rare inclusions of pebbles, is washed by the emerald waves of the Mediterranean Sea.
• The infrastructure of the beach is well developed and thought out to the smallest detail, so absolutely any guest will be comfortable here. Along the coastline there are cafes with restaurants where you can taste Turkish cuisine and souvenir shops. Since 2004, Cleopatra Beach has been awarded the Blue Flag every year as an environmentally friendly, safe place!
• But why is the beach named after the Egyptian queen? There is a legend that a long time ago Cleopatra, tired of sea travel, ordered to moor the ship in a small but very picturesque bay. The harbor was so liked by the oriental beauty that it became a favorite vacation spot.
• Damlatash is a cave at the western foot of the peninsula. Its name translates from Turkish as "stalactite". It was discovered quite by accident, in 1948 during the construction of the port. There was a quarry in this place and after the explosion, made in order to obtain stone for the construction of the pier, the entrance to the cave opened. Fantastic formations were found inside it – stalactites and stalagmites of extraordinary beauty. Damlatash is one of the few Turkish caves equipped for visiting. The cave has two floors. Inside, the air temperature is constantly kept at +22 – 23C, and the humidity is more than 90-98%. In addition, the air contains a fairly large amount of carbon with a negligible degree of radioactivity.

Wrexham will play in co-owner Ryan Reynolds’ home city of Vancouver on their pre-season tour of the USA and Canada.

Phil Parkinson’s newly-promoted side head to the 54,500-capacity BC Place on Saturday July 27 to face the Whitecaps in the final outing of a three-game tour that also includes clashes with two Premier League teams.

First up on July 20 at Santa Barbara’s Harder Stadium will be a meeting with Bournemouth , followed four days later by taking on Chelsea in Levi’s Stadium, the home of San Francisco 49ers.

This will be the second consecutive summer that Wrexham have headed across the Atlantic after last July facing Chelsea and Manchester United during a four-game tour that took in North Carolina, Los Angeles, San Diego and co-owner Rob McElhenney’s home city of Philadelphia.

“Last year’s U.S. Tour was a fantastic experience and a memorable trip for all the players and staff,” says manager Phil Parkinson.

“After another successful campaign, we’re delighted to be heading to the west coast again this summer, and we’re also looking forward to venturing up to Vancouver and spreading the club’s footprint into Canada.

“It will be a great chance to meet new supporters, while also building for the 2024/25 League One season.”

How Wrexham, Reynolds and McElhenney celebrated back-to-back promotions

Wrexham’s reduced itinerary and travelling time follows a debrief into last summer’s trip, when the squad zig-zagged from east to west and back again before heading home just one week before the new season got under way.

Now, the players will be back home a little under a fortnight before the big EFL kick-off on August 10, with the plan being to stage one final pre-season friendly on UK soil.

Along with the Welcome to Wrexham documentary, club officials see the trips across the Atlantic as a key part of building an international audience.

Last year’s two-week long trip saw a small profit made from ticket sales and merchandise as crowds flocked to watch the newly-promoted National League champions.

But, the real benefits are expected to come down the line, via tapping into that lucrative U.S. and Canadian market.

Wrexham also proved good for local businesses last year, with one local tourist official forecasting a £15.3 million ($20 million) boost to the local economy in North Carolina around the Chelsea match, which was watched by an attendance of 50,596.
