The Next Stop Will Be The Airport In The Sky Where There Is A Nature Center, Restaurant, Gift Shop. We Will Then Bike To El Rancho Escondido And Enjoy The Vineyard View. On Our Ride Back Into Town We Will Take A Different Road That Passes Through Middle Ranch. This Tour Duration Is Approximately 3.5 hours.

8:50 AM:  Check-in with Catalina Express at Downtown Long Beach Terminal 9:50 AM:  Depart for Catalina Island on Catalina Express 11:05 AM: Arrive in Avalon; Check-in with Catalina Island Electric Bike Rentals and depart on your Avalon Adventure 5:00 PM: Return your bike to the Bike Shop 5:00 – 7:15 PM: Explore Avalon, shop or enjoy dinner 7:15 PM:  Check in with Catalina Express 7:45 PM:  Depart Avalon for Long Beach 9:00 PM:  Arrive in Long Beach

Our knowledgeable staff will provide you with general information, a safety briefing, and a local map, so you can plan out where you want to explore while on your e-bike based on the duration of your rental.

Do we receive training?  All guests must know how to ride a bike prior to check-in. Bike riding instruction will not be provided as part of the rental. All guests must be able to hold up the bike on their own.

What to know: Electric bikes may not operate in inclement weather for safety reasons. Electric bikes must remain within the city limits of Avalon (see map upon check-in for the area of operation). Catalina Island weather may impact this excursion. Please contact us in the event of inclement weather.

RESTORATION PROJECT

Biking Catalina Island

Biking catalina island is a great way to see our wildlands.

Cyclists on Catalina enjoy the fresh air and challenging twists and turns of the Island’s 40 miles of trails and roads open to mountain biking.

Freewheeler Bike Pass

Biking Catalina Island requires a Freewheeler Bike Pass. The Freewheeler Bike Pass is available through the purchase of a Conservancy membership, starting at $35. You can show your membership card at all Conservancy locations where our friendly and helpful staff will issue you the permit placard that goes on your bike.  You can also redeem your bike pass at Two Harbors Visitor Services.

SAFETY RULES FOR BIKING CATALINA ISLAND

For your safety, we recommend all-terrain bikes—those equipped with multi-speeds and all-terrain tires—for biking Catalina Island and its wild interior. Hard-shelled helmets are required for all bikers. Biking is not permitted at night.

Electric bikes are permitted, but must have pedals.

Please note that wildlife on Catalina Island, as in Wildlands, can cause serious injury or even death. Please do not approach or harass wildlife and always maintain a safe distance.

Take plenty of drinking water on your ride, be sure to stay on approved bike routes.
