Celebrity Bar Menus 2023

by Prof. Cruise · Published March 4, 2023 · Updated March 4, 2023

A bunch of Celebrity bar menus with text that reads: Celebrity bar menus and drink prices 2023.

These menus were collected on the Celebrity Solstice in March of 2023 and reflect current prices and offerings at that time. Some Celebrity ships will differ slightly in what’s offered, but this should give you a good idea of what to expect in terms of beverage availability and prices on your upcoming Celebrity cruise.

Before we get to the menus though, allow me to emphasize what a taxing job it was, traveling around to all the bars and photographing these menus for you. Don’t worry, I took a few breaks to rest and sample the offerings. First at Cafe al Bacio for some complimentary pastries and a mint chocolate martini:

Mint Chocolate Martini from Cafe al Bacio on the Celebrity Solstice.

Then at Sushi on Five for some lunch and an Asian Pear Smash:

Asian Pear Smash from Sushi on Five on the Celebrity Solstice.

And finally, at the Martini Bar for a martini flight:

Martini Flight from the Martini Bar on the Celebrity Solstice.

If any menus are missing, it’s because I fell down the stairs at that point and had to be evaluated at the medical center. No broken bones, thankfully, just a prescription for a tall glass of water and some buffet pizza and a stern warning that deficient coordination, a moving ship, and copious amounts of alcohol DO NOT MIX . Shrug .

So with that, here are the menus…

Great list – thanks! Did you see any type of Milky frozen drinks like the Tolberone and Mudslide? I haven’t been on Solstice for 5 or 6 years, but the last time I was on her, they did have them on the menus.

Most bars will be able to make those for you, ever if they’re not on the menu. Those are some of my favs too!

Celebrity Cruises drink packages give you the freedom to enjoy both alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages during your cruise without worrying about the tab. Adding a beverage package to your cruise moves your vacation one step closer to an all-inclusive experience that stops the day-to-day nickel and diming for every soda, bottle of water and glass of wine.

But drink packages can get a bit confusing. Do you save money with a package, or should you stick to ordering and paying for drinks one at a time? Which drink package is part of the "All Included" cabin pricing, and is that option your best bet?

These are just a few of the questions new Celebrity cruisers (and even some veterans of the line) often ask when it comes time to consider buying a drink package for their cruise.

For cruise news, reviews and tips, sign up for TPG's cruise newsletter .

In an effort to simplify choices, Celebrity Cruises offers just three beverage packages, including a Zero-Proof package for nonalcoholic drinks. To help you decide which (if any) package suits your needs and those of your travel companions, I've dug through the details and tested some of the options. Here's what you need to know before you buy.

What's included in a Celebrity drink package?

celebrity cruises drinks price list 2023

Celebrity Cruises' three drink packages include the Zero Proof, Classic and Premium drink packages. All of the beverage package options include bottled water (usually served in aluminum bottles to reduce single-use plastics on board), specialty coffees and teas, soft drinks and mocktails.

Your drinks may be ordered from any bar, restaurant or bar server in public areas, such as pools or entertainment venues. The packages are also valid for use on private islands like Labadee and Perfect Day at CocoCay .

With a few exceptions, each package builds on the previous (lower-priced) package. Here is what's included in each Celebrity cruise drink package.

Zero Proof (aka nonalcoholic) drink package

Celebrity offers one package for nonalcoholic beverages. It does not offer separate water-only or soda-only packages as some cruise lines do. Those drinks are included in the Zero Proof package. (You might see this package listed as either Zero Proof or Nonalcoholic on the Celebrity website and app.)

As we said before, all Celebrity drink packages include premium coffees and teas like those served at Cafe al Bacio and mocktails. The Zero Proof package also includes drinks such as Red Bull, Vitamin Water, fresh juices and smoothies at The Spa Cafe and premium waters like San Pellegrino or Evian.

This package is ideal for those who drink few, if any, alcoholic drinks, but need their morning latte or down several glasses of sparkling water or soda daily. Plus, you can enjoy vacation splurges like smoothies or frozen mocktails.

Classic drink package

The Classic drink package includes most of the nonalcoholic drinks available in the Zero Proof package, except the specialty brands like Red Bull and premium waters. You'll get all beer, wine by the glass, spirits, cocktails and liqueurs priced at $10 or less. Additionally, you get a 15% discount off all bottles of wine, which you can enjoy anywhere on board, including in your cabin.

Examples of drinks that are part of the Classic drink package are beers like Sam Adams, Corona, Coors and Alaska Brewing beers on Alaska cruises. Wines will vary depending on the location of your cruise.

Most cocktails are included in the package. They will be made from non-premium brand ingredients. Liqueurs included in the package are those with lower price tags. Think Kahlua, but not Bailey's Irish Cream or Grand Marnier.

You can still order drinks that are over the $10 limit imposed by the package. You'll simply pay the difference between the $10 limit and the cost of the drink. Some cruisers on social media have said they found it necessary on some sailings to say the word "classic" when ordering drinks in order to avoid being served a premium drink and having an upcharge apply.

Celebrity Cruises' Classic package works for most drinkers who plan to consume several drinks each day. It will cover bottled water you can take into port with you to stay hydrated during excursions and sodas for lunch while providing for most of your beer, wine and spirits needs. If you decide you want a different beer or a cocktail with a call liquor, just pay the difference.

Premium drink package

celebrity cruises drinks price list 2023

Celebrity's Premium drink package moves the price limit per drink to $17, which covers almost anything you'd drink on board other than higher-priced wines or a few of the pricier spirits. Premium brand waters and Red Bull are available in this package. You'll also have a 20% discount on bottled wine available to use, which can absolutely make a difference in your evening wine selections.

Examples of beverages available in this package are beers like Blue Moon, Guinness and Grolsch. Wines by the glass in the package are a step above those found in the Classic package and include Champagnes. Cocktails are made from premium spirits such as Crown Royal, Grey Goose, Bombay Sapphire and Patron Silver. The list of brandies and liqueurs expands considerably.

Many Celebrity cruisers have found it necessary to order their drinks specifically as "premium" beverages or to order by brand to avoid getting drinks made with the cheapest liquors.

The Premium package is perfect for cruisers who don't want to make money decisions when ordering a drink. If I want a shot of Godiva poured over my late-night ice cream, I don't really want to stop and wonder if it's included in my package.

Drink package fine print

Packages do not include beverages ordered from room service, bought in onboard gift shops or consumed from the minibar in your cabin.

There are no daily limits on how many drinks you can have on a Celebrity Cruises drink package, but you can only order one drink at a time. The exception to that is that you can usually request a bottle of water at the same time you order an alcoholic drink.

The drink packages with alcohol come with a caveat — all passengers of legal drinking age in a cabin must buy the same package. So, if your roomie prefers premium spirits, you must also buy the premium package. Non-drinkers can request an exemption from the alcoholic packages but must purchase the Zero Proof package instead.

What do Celebrity drink packages cost?

celebrity cruises drinks price list 2023

Now that you know what you can drink with each package, let's break down the costs.

The cruise line has a stated (pre-tip) price for its drink packages that include alcohol: $89 per person, per day for the Classic package and $109 per person, per day for the Premium package. However, that price fluctuates with demand. You can expect to pay more during holiday sailings and spring break. The flip side is that the cruise line frequently offers special pricing that lowers the cost.

Here are the ranges of what a Celebrity drink package costs. The lowest prices are based on previous sales.

  • Zero Proof drink package: $30 per person, per day ($36 with gratuity)
  • Classic drink package: $35 to $89 per person, per day ($42 to $106.80 with gratuity)
  • Premium drink package: $56 to $129 per person, per day ($67.20 to $154.80 with gratuity)

The gratuity is 20% and is added when you purchase the package. That eliminates any additional tip on individual drink orders unless you want to tip extra.

Now, let's complicate the whole decision-making process by factoring in Celebrity's "All Included" fares .

During the booking process, after you've selected your cabin, you'll be offered an opportunity to upgrade your cruise with an All Included package that adds the Classic drink package and basic Wi-Fi for each guest in the room. It pays to compare the non-upgrade price to the upgrade, then divide the difference by the number of nights and the number of people in the cabin.

I recently found All Included upgrade prices as low as $35 per person, per night, which makes the drink package less than half price and Wi-Fi free. Once you have the Classic package in place through the All-In add-on, you can easily upgrade to the Premium drink package if you prefer.

While the listed upgrade price is $20 per person, per night, I've heard from multiple cruisers that the upgrade is sometimes offered as low as $6.99 per person, per night, making that a bargain as well. Don't forget the 20% gratuity per person, per night, that's tacked onto the price.

The best times to buy a Celebrity drink package

celebrity cruises drinks price list 2023

You can buy your drink package as soon as you book your cruise, or you can wait until you are on board. Which is the better plan?

If your cruise is leaving within the next few months, it's probably best to go ahead and lock in the price — unless Black Friday happens to fall between purchase and the start of the cruise. Celebrity Black Friday deals on drink packages have historically been the lowest prices available all year.

The $35 per person, per night upgrade to All Included to get the Classic drink package in my example above was during the Black Friday Kickoff sale, a full two weeks before actual Black Friday.

The Celebrity drink package that fluctuates most in price is the Premium package, so it always pays to buy it pre-cruise. Advance prices are at least 5% lower online or in the cruise line app before embarkation day.

The key to getting the best deal, either through the All Included package or buying the drink package pre-cruise, is to do the math to break down the cost per person, per night. That way, you're always comparing apples to apples, despite BOGO deals or percentages off.

Is a Celebrity drink package worth it?

celebrity cruises drinks price list 2023

It's time to get down to whether you are saving money with these packages or whether that even matters to you. Let's look at each package again to see how much you need to consume to break even.

This one is pretty easy to break even on. Specialty coffees average around $6 but can run as much as $10 each. Sodas are $3; water is $3-$5, depending on the brand; mocktails and smoothies are $9. One coffee to start your day, a smoothie or fresh juice with breakfast, two bottles of water for hydration, a soda with lunch, a mocktail by the pool, and another soda during the evening, and you're up to $40 per day.

Daily consumption on this package might start out similar to the sample list on the Zero Proof package: specialty coffee each morning, bottled water and soda throughout the day and maybe a smoothie. But then you'd need to drink six or more cocktails (which start at $9), beers ($6.50 to $10) or glasses of wine ($8-10) to hit the $89 base price of this package.

At the regular price, you'd either need to drink a lot of alcohol every day to break even, or really lean into the nonalcoholic beverages if you can't handle that much liquor daily. Obviously, if you can find a discounted package, you'll break even more easily. For Celebrity's Classic package to make sense, you should either be someone who enjoys a large number of drinks or who cares less about breaking even and more about creating a low-stress, more inclusive cruise experience.

The most expensive package is clearly for those who prefer premium brands in their drinks. If you're a top-shelf drinker, you won't have much difficulty consuming enough to make this package a value proposition.

This package is included with suites in The Retreat and is an easy upgrade for those who choose the All-In fares. In talking to cruisers who prefer this package, I found that many of them choose it simply to enjoy Celebrity's popular Martini Bar, which has a drink menu with almost all drinks over the $10 limit imposed by the Classic package.

As you consider which package works best for your drinking habits, be sure to factor in the ports and the itinerary as a whole. Sea days tend to be higher drink consumption days, so a seven-night cruise with two sea days may bump up your needs a bit. Stops at private islands may mean even higher consumption because you're away from the air-conditioning for much of the day. Cruises in warm weather areas like the Caribbean will increase your thirst overall.

Itineraries that might reduce consumption would be cool climate cruises and port-intensive European cruises, where you might find yourself drinking local beverages more often than not. In those cases, your onboard drinking could drop to levels below the point at which packages are cost-effective unless you get a bargain price.

Other factors to consider before you buy a Celebrity drink package

celebrity cruises drinks price list 2023

A couple of other factors could influence your drink needs and decision to buy a drink package or not.

The first is to remember that Celebrity does offer free beverage options. The tap water on board is drinkable; bring your own refillable bottle, and you won't need to purchase bottles of water. The buffet area and all restaurants offer free drip coffee, iced tea, hot tea, hot cocoa, milk, lemonade and punch.

Plus, each cruiser is allowed to bring up to 12 cans of nonalcoholic drinks on board on embarkation day. You can also bring a can or two back from ports with you. Your cabin attendant can keep you stocked with ice and glassware in your cabin.

You can also bring one bottle of wine per person on board on embarkation day. There is a corkage fee for opening it in a restaurant, but none if you open it and keep it in your cabin.

Related: Can I bring alcohol on a cruise ship? A line-by-line guide

If you're happy with these free options, supplemented by a couple of extra-fee drinks per day, you might save more by purchasing drinks a la carte versus splurging on a drink package.

You should also look at your loyalty status in Celebrity's Captain's Club . Starting with their second cruise, all members get one complimentary specialty coffee per cruise when dining in a specialty restaurant. So don't count that coffee in your decision.

All members also get a discount on bottles of wine. The discount starts at 10% for the newest members, then goes to 15% for Select members and 20% for Elite and up. That pretty much nullifies the benefit included in the packages for everyone with status.

The good news, though, is that all members get a discount on the pre-cruise purchase of any drink package — 10% for the bottom two tiers, 15% for Elite members and 20% for Elite Plus. Zenith members are entitled to complimentary drink packages. Captain's Club members can also access discounts on pre-cruise purchases of drink package upgrades for those who opt for the All Included fares.

Even better news is that Elite members and up drink free at most bars between 5 and 7 p.m., the official Captain's Club cocktail hour. You aren't limited to sitting at one bar, but you are limited to the choices on a special menu. It's possible to grab a glass of wine or a cocktail on your way to dinner and another on your way to a show.

The final factor might be a big one for some people. Celebrity supplies free drinks (alcoholic and non) for anyone actively playing in the casino . The caveats are that you can't get these free drinks from the bar, and catching a server in a busy casino can be challenging.

The advice I got from serious casino players is to tip the server a buck or two with every drink they bring to keep the service and the drinks coming all cruise. If you plan to spend hours in the casino, a drink package might not be necessary.

Bottom line: Is a Celebrity drink package right for you?

celebrity cruises drinks price list 2023

Now that you have all the details, you can decide, based on your consumption habits, whether a package is right for you. If you know you'll be drinking four or five drinks per day, plus bottled water, sodas and a smoothie now and then and don't gamble much or have loyalty status, you're likely to at least break even on a package.

Some people prefer to pay as you go. You can see each purchase in the cruise line app. If you go on a bender one night, it's easy to cut back your drink purchases the next night. Not having a package is a good choice for those who are either budgeting their money or dialing back their alcohol or calorie consumption.

The grayest area tends to be for those with Elite or Elite Plus status who also gamble. You might save money by simply bringing some of your own drinks on board and a refillable water bottle.

My own experience on a recent cruise was that the Elite happy hour drinks, along with a drink now and then in the casino, were enough for me. My husband played Blackjack for long hours and had a steady stream of his favorite beverages each night at no charge.

You can also look at drink packages from the point of view that it's simply another part of your vacation enjoyment. The three Celebrity drink packages make it simple for those who want an all-inclusive vibe on their cruise. If skimping and fretting over the cost of every latte or bottle of water isn't how you roll, pick the Zero Proof package if you don't drink alcohol, the Classic package if you aren't picky about your alcohol or the Premium package if you are.

The bottom line is that the packages aren't for everyone. Some like to splurge on other aspects of their cruise by saving on drinks. Others prefer a more complete bill for their vacation paid upfront, including all the drinks they could imagine served at their every whim.

Either way, you'll find a wide range of drink options, both alcoholic and non, from morning to the wee hours of the night. These are part of what makes a cruise vacation fun, no matter how you choose to pay for them.

Worth It? Celebrity Cruises Drink Packages Explained (Prices, What’s Included, and More)

Celebrity Cruises also offers a full lineup of drink packages, giving you the ability to pay one set daily price and then have your choice of beverages without worrying about a bill. Drink as much as you want, and you’ll know exactly what you’ll spend.

celebrity cruises drinks price list 2023

But these packages can be pricey and definitely have some fine print attached that you should know about. So is Celebrity’s drink package worth it? We have all the details, including our take on if you should purchase it or not.

What Drink Packages Are Available on Celebrity?

Celebrity offers multiple drink packages that can be tailored to whatever your tastes, from high-end alcoholic beverages to water and soda. So whether you are an adult that wants to let loose, or you are sailing with a kid that wants non-alcoholic drinks, the cruise line has an option.

Classic Drink Package: The basic drink package that offers everything from cocktails to coffee, beers, wine, bottled water, soda, and more. This package limits you to drinks that are $10 per glass or less.

Premium Drink Package: Have higher-end tastes? Or maybe you just want the freedom of more options? In that case, the Premium Drink Package might be for you. It includes drinks up to $17 per glass, giving you everything in the Classic Package, plus much more.

Zero Proof Package: If you want some of the tasty drinks on the ship but aren’t an alcohol drinker, then there is the Zero Proof Package. This deal offers premium bottled waters (Evian, San Pellegrino, etc.) specialty coffees and teas, plus zero-proof cocktails, soda, Vitamin Water and bottled teas.

How Much Do Drink Packages Cost?

Following a price increase and some tweaks to the packages in late 2022, Celebrity lists the following prices for each drink package:

  • Classic Drink Package: $89 per person, per day
  • Premium Drink Package: $109 per person, per day
  • Classic Non-Alcoholic Package: $30 per person, per day

Note that these prices are lower than what you will see on the ship. Celebrity offers a discount for booking early, so if you want a drink package, book before you sail.

Is Gratuity Included in the Price?

The prices shown above are before gratuity. There is an automatic 20% “service charge” that is added onto the daily cost.

So the Classic Drink Package at $89 per day actually costs a total of $106.80 per day after this charge . The Premium Drink Package comes out to $130.80 per person, per day .

Does Everyone in the Cabin Have to Purchase the Package if One Person Does?

celebrity cruises drinks price list 2023

What do you do if one person wants a drink package but another person doesn’t? In that case, Celebrity requires that if one person buys an alcoholic package, then all people in that cabin must buy one as well. This includes non-alcoholic packages for teens traveling with parents.

However, there are some exceptions for kids or those with medical/health reasons for not drinking:

  • Kids 12 and under: Not required to buy any package
  • Kids 13-20 (U.S.) or 13-17 (Rest of World): Must purchase Zero Proof Package
  • Pregnant: Must purchase Zero Proof Package
  • Medical issue or in recovery: Must purchase Zero Proof Package

What’s the Difference Between the Classic and Premium Packages?

As mentioned above, Celebrity offers two different alcoholic packages. The biggest difference between the two is that the Classic package offers drinks up to $10 per glass while the Premium plan offers drinks up to $17 per glass. The Premium package also offers a 20% discount on wine by the bottle compared to 15% for the Classic offer.

In short, you simply have more options with the higher-end Premium package.

Still, that’s not to say you’ll go thirsty with either package. Here’s just a sample of what Celebrity says is included with the lower-priced Classic package :

  • Vodkas: Tito’s, Absolut, New Amsterdam, Smirnoff
  • Whiskeys: Dewar’s White Label, Famous Grouse, Jim Beam, Johnnie Walker Red, Monkey Shoulder, Seagram’s VO
  • Rums: Bacardi, Captain Morgan’s, Kraken, Malibu, Myer’s, Wray & Nephew
  • Tequilas: Don Julio Blanco, Teremana Blanco
  • Beers: Bud, Bud Light, Coors Light, Corona, Franziskaner, Heineken, Kirin, Miller Lite, Michelob Ultra, Morette, Newcastle Brown Ale, Stongbow Cider

In addition, the cruise line says it offers “a large selection of classic cocktails made with Classic Beverage Package spirits.”

So if you’re just looking for a drink, then the Classic should have you covered. If you have finer tastes or enjoy fancy cocktails, the Premium package is likely a better choice.

What If I Buy a Drink Above the $10/$17 Price Limit?

Say you have the Classic Beverage Package — which only has a $10 per glass limit — but want a drink that costs more.

In that case, Celebrity’s policy is that you have to pay for the overage. So if you order a $14 cocktail, then you’ll be charged only $4, plus the 20% gratuity on that overage amount.

It’s the same situation if you have the higher-priced package and go over the $17 per glass limit.

Can I Share Drinks With the Package?

It is universal across cruise lines — including Celebrity — that sharing is not allowed. This is a reason that cruise lines require all adults to buy the drink package if one person in the cabin does so. That way, there isn’t a big worry about sharing.

That said, unless you are blatantly obvious it’s not likely that anyone will know if you do share a drink.

How Many Drinks Can I Buy at Once With the Package?

celebrity cruises drinks price list 2023

While most people simply order one drink at a time, there are times where you might want to order more. Unfortunately, Celebrity’s drink package rules state that you can only order one drink at a time. Extras are charged at the regular menu price. So if you’re wanting to get a drink for you and your spouse, you’ll both need to order something instead of just one person heading to the bar.

Is There a Limit on How Many Drinks I Can Order in a Day?

No. While some cruise lines have daily limits on the number of drinks you can buy in a 24-hour period with their drink packages, Celebrity specifically says that there is no daily limit on the cruise line.

That said, if you are obviously overserved, then don’t be surprised if the crew declines to give you another drink.

Do I Have to Buy the Package For The Entire Cruise?

If you decide that you want to buy a drink package, then you should know that it must be bought for the entire length of the cruise. So on a 7-day cruise, you’ll pay the daily charge each day for the entire week.

You can’t just pick and choose days to purchase the package.

How Can I Save Money on the Drink Package?

There’s no doubt that the drink package can cost a lot of money over the course of your cruise. But there are a few ways that you can save some cash.

First, if you know that you’ll want one of the drink packages, then buy it ahead of time. Celebrity prominently displays a notice on its website that “Pre-Cruise Pricing Always Lower Than On Board.”

Second, you can potentially save with Celebrity’s “All Included” offer. The cruise lines offers two different fares — cruise only and All Included. With the offer, you pay more than the base cruise fare, but gratuities, wi-fi, and a drink package is included. (For most cabins, the Classic Drink Package is included; those cabins in The Retreat receive the Premium Drink Package.)

While you’ll want to do the math, this can be a less expensive way to get the drink package. For instance, we priced an 8-night cruise with the All Included package for about $440 more per person over the base cruise fare. The Classic package would cost more than $700 alone for that length of trip (before gratuity).

Is the Celebrity Drink Package Worth It?

There’s no argument that the cost of a drink package can be pricey. Over a 7-day trip, the cost of the Classic Drink Package would run $747 with gratuity included. The Premium Drink Package would cost 916.

So is it worth it?

Obviously, the answer is going to depend on the specific person. Are you the sort of person that isn’t on vacation unless there is a drink in your hand? Then yes, the drink package is likely going to be worth it.

Or are you the sort of person that may like to let loose for a night or two but then take it easy? In that case, it’s likely not. But it’s helpful to do the math.

On a cruise ship beers are typically around $7-8 each. Cocktails run around $12-14 each (though Celebrity offers many under the $10 price point for the Classic Drink Package).

For the $89 Classic Drink Package, you have to drink nine $10 cocktails each day to get your money’s worth. For the higher-end Premium Drink Package, you’d have to drink eight cocktails priced at $15 each before you come out ahead.

That is a lot, but that figure doesn’t include things like bottled waters, coffees, or sodas, which can also add up quickly.

As well, there is something to be said about not having to worry about having to keep tabs on your bar bill during the cruise. Want to try a new drink? There’s no risk of not liking it. If that’s the case, you can just order something else.

If you are on the fence of being unsure whether the package would be worth it for you or not, remember that the All Included offer may make the choice much easier. With a potentially lower price for the package, it could put the math in your favor.

Is the 20% gratuities on the drinks that get charged to your account covered by the gratuities package?

Yes, you are charged the 20% on the value of the package. Then you’re covered when you actually get a beverage at the bar.

Is the non-alcoholic package worth buying? I was thinking that we could buy that and only pay out of pocket for a few drinks for me since my husband no longer drinks alcohol. Thanks for your time!

If you got the classic drink package as part of the all inclusive, where do the 20% gratuity come in? Is is part of the cruise price or is it added later? Tx

I can’t seem to find a price list for none alcoholic drinks like juice and specialty coffee, do you know how much they generally cost? I have a feeling during a day I might like a special coffee a juice and perhaps one non alcoholic cocktail so just 3 drinks would it be better to just pay for them individually?

You can estimate about $3-5 for these items ($5-7 for a non-alc cocktail). At just three drinks, you’d want to skip the drink package. However, Celebrity offers the all-inclusive package with fares. In that case, you’ll want to see how much more the included fare (which has drinks, tips, and wi-fi included) costs versus the bare bones cost.

But at three non-alcoholic drinks, you’ll be spending around $15-20.

Sorry I meant, Drinks without the drink package.

Is there anything included in the standard cruise without packages.

Not alcoholic drinks. Basic drinks like tea, water, and coffee are included.

Standard “bar brand” type cocktails are around 10 bucks. Some are more. Look at the list of included booze for the different packages. If you don’t see what you like in the classic checkout premium. Moat everything you can order at any of the bars is included in the premium. Only some very high end top shelf stuff like Louis xiii or Macallan 18 or 20 yr old scotch are over the 17 buck limit. If you juat like basic booze the classic is fine. I check with the bartender when ordering to make sure. You may end up signing for an overage if you don’t check.

20% is added on to the total. They add gratuities to drinks if you buy them one at a time as well. No different

Hello, I have been searching to find the answer to the Classic Drink package as to whether or not it includes soda and regular bottle water? I have reached out to celebrity several times but the wait times have been over 2 hours. If you happen to know the answer to this, I would greatly appreciate your input.

Yes. From Celebrity’s website of what’s included:

“Non-Alcoholic: Juices, Sodas, Non-Premium bottle water, Premium coffees, Premium teas”

So what is the cost of a Jim Beam and water or Canadian Club and water?

Or a frozen drink like a mud slide or strawberry daiquiri?

I’m confused on the difference of the drink packages when you don’t know what is charged per drink

If there are 2 adults in the room with the classic drink package, can only one of them upgrade to the premium package? Since the other doesn’t drink.

Yes. Use your card for premium drinks for you. If the other doesn’t drink just get the zero proof package for them. No need to waste money on a classic. The package is listed on your room key/ID card.

Thanks for great info. I was wondering if I book a celebrity veranda room for 3 guests ( 2 adults and 10 year old kid ) with all inclusive ( drink, wifi and gratuity), do we get any discount for kids or is it same price for kid as adults. Thanks

So the 10 year old will obviously get the zero-proof package, but not sure if it’s priced less.

Thanks for the info, does the ship offer events like cocktails making glasses or Martin testing g do glasses, that the package will cover?

Tastings are all ala carte charges, not included in drink package.

So wait…the 20% gratuity is added per day instead of per drink?! Is there a way to opt out of the daily gratuity if you don’t intend to use the package that often…like say you don’t get any drinks for a few days or something like that?

With drink packages you pay one set daily fee — no matter what. Drink 10 drinks and you pay the same as if you had 0 drinks. Then the 20% is added on to the daily cost of the package. That’s why you want to do the math before you buy to see if it’s worth it.

Celebrity Cruises Drink Packages & Prices

About the drink packages on celebrity cruises.

Celebrity Cruises has done a good job making their beverage packages simple to understand making it easier than most other cruise lines to choose which drink package makes the most sense. However, the prices of the Celebrity drink packages have risen to an eyewatering price, so knowing if the drink package is even worth it anymore is the first step.

Key Points:

  • Celebrity Cruises offers three beverage packages: Classic Drinks Package, Premium Drinks Package, and Zero Proof alcohol-free package.
  • The Classic Package costs $89/day per person and covers a variety of alcoholic drinks, while the Premium Package costs $109/day per person and includes premium drinks and cocktails.
  • The Zero Proof Package is priced at $30/day per person and caters to non-alcoholic drink preferences.
  • Prices for beers range from $7-$10, cocktails from $9-$15, and wine from $9 for basic options to $17 for premium selections.
  • Celebrity Cruises’ drink packages may not be cost-effective for everyone, so it’s recommended to use the drink package calculator to determine if purchasing a package is worthwhile based on individual drinking preferences.

See our drink package calculator for Celebrity Cruises and decide if it’s worth it to buy a drink package at all. You could be surprised that it might not be worth it if you just want a drink here and there.

Now, of course, we’re not judging! We’ve been able to make use of beverage packages MANY times on a cruise, and usually come out ahead, but at these prices, it would be a challenge even for a seasoned drinker!

Beverage Package Prices

With Celebrity Cruises there are 3 beverage packages available which make the choice simpler than some other cruise lines. There is the Classic Drinks Package, Premium Drinks Package, and the Zero Proof alcohol-free package.

Before considering a drink package, remember that there are plenty of Free drink options on the cruise. Just like most major cruise lines, Water, tea and coffee along with some juices are available at no charge.

Classic Beverage Package

The basic beverage package that includes alcoholic drinks is the Classic package , and is also the package that is included with the “All Included Fare”.  The Classic Package costs $89/day per person and entitles you to order any drink up to $10 ($12 for AUS & UK sailings), which is a large majority of drinks onboard.

While it may seem limited compared to the more expensive Premium Package, most cruise passengers find it more than sufficient. Now that Celebrity allows you to purchase a drink above the $10 per drink price allowed by the package and just pay the difference in price (plus gratuity).

With so many drinks being covered by the Classic package, it’s hard to justify the price of the really expensive Premium Package (below).

Note that the Classic Drink Package is what is included with the All Included fare with Celebrity

What does the Classic Beverage Package include on Celebrity Cruises?

  • Vodkas: Absolut and flavors, New Amsterdam, Smirnoff, Tito’s
  • Whiskeys: Dewar’s White Label, Famous Grouse, Jim Beam, Johnnie Walker Red, Monkey Shoulder, Seagram’s VO
  • Rums: Bacardi, Captain Morgan’s, Kraken Black Spiced, Malibu, Myer’s, Wray & Nephew
  • Tequilas: Don Julio Blanco, Teremana Blanco
  • Beers: Alaska Brewing beers on Alaska sailings. Coors Light, Corona, Franziskaner, Heineken, Kirin, Kirin Light, Miller Lite, Moretti, Newcastle Brown Ale, Strongbow hard ciders, Budweiser, Bud Light, Michelob Ultra
  • Gins: Beefeater, Gordon’s, Praire Gin
  • Liqueurs and Cognacs: Campari, Galliano, Hennessy VS, Kahlua, Licor 43, Ouzo, Romana Sambuca, Southern Comfort, Tia Maria
  • A large selection of wines from various regions around the world, including California, France, Italy, Spain, Germany, Argentina, Chile, and Australia

Additionally, for coffee drinkers, premium coffees are included with the Classic Beverage Package. As for bottled water, basic non-branded bottled water is included in the Premium Package as are Sodas & Juices (Not the Fresh Juices / Spa Cafe Juices)

For what it’s worth, there is a discount of 15% on wine by the bottle purchases, but the reality is most of the wine is served by the glass, so buying a bottle of wine doesn’t make a lot of sense.

Premium Beverage Package

The Premium Drink Package is the closest to “all-inclusive” as you’ll get with Celebrity Cruises. The Premium Package costs an insane $109/day per person + a 20% gratuity and covers drinks up to $17 ($20 for sailings departing from UK and AUS ports). This beverage package also includes energy drinks, premium bottled tea, and a few other branded items like Evian water. Additionally the discount on bottles of wine increased to 20%

What does the premium beverage package include on Celebrity Cruises?

The Premium Beverage Package on Celebrity includes all classic as well as the following higher-end alcohol brands:

  • Non Alcoholic Beverages: Acqua Panna water, Evian water, San Pellegrino, Premium coffees, Red Bull & Editions, Sodas, Premium teas, Vitamin water, Bottled Iced Teas, Aqua Spa Fresh Juices, Zero Proof Cocktails Frozen & Non-Frozen

For an added bonus, The Premium Drink Package includes Vitamin Water, Energy Drinks, Bottled Ice Tea (like HONEST brand), Fresh Juices, and what Celebrity calls “Premium Bottled Water” – which is basically any name brand like Evian, Aqua Panna, and Pellegrino.

For people that don’t think the Classic Package is sufficient, it’s possible to upgrade to the Premium Drink package for the difference in price (plus gratuity).

The Celebrity Cruises Zero Proof Package

The Zero Proof Drink Package is Celebrity’s version of the non-alcoholic package. The package price is $30/day per person (Plus 20% Gratuity). It includes

What’s Included in the Celebrity Zero Proof non-alcoholic drink package?

  • Premium Coffees
  • Premium Teas
  • Acqua Panna Water
  • Evian Water
  • San Pellegrino
  • Vitamin Water
  • Red Bull and Editions
  • Bottled Iced Teas
  • Spa Café Fresh Juice

Upgrading from the Classic to Premium Beverage Package

Celebrity allows for upgrading a drink package, which might be worth it for people with the All Included fare. The cost is the price difference plus gratuity in the packages which is approximately $24 per person per day.

How much are the drinks on Celebrity Cruises?

Beer prices are generally $7-$10, cocktail prices range from about $9-$15 with Martinis being at the high end. Wine prices are all over the place and range from about $9 for a basic wine to more than $17 for a nice wine by a premium vineyard like Grgich Hills Estate.

What about the All Included Fare?

The cruise line went to an “ All Included “ model several years ago and has since changed to a “fare only” pricing model where you can choose what packages you want, while they maintained the “all-inclusive” option. We’ll go over whether or not the all-inclusive pricing model makes sense in a separate post.

Just know that the Classic Drinks Package is what comes with the All Included fare , so it doesn’t REALLY make the experience an all-inclusive cruise.

Is a Celebrity Drink Package Worth It? Our Thoughts

Celebrity (and parent Company Royal Caribbean) have some of the most expensive drink packages in the cruise industry. The cost alone really should make people think twice about a beverage package. In reality, it’s hard to “break-even” if you don’t drink enough every day of your cruise. If you don’t drink a lot, it’s likely these packages are not worth it

  • Calculate your beverage costs with our drink package calculator! See if it’s worth it.

Some helpful Tips about the Celebrity Cruises Drink Packages

  • There is no limit on daily beverage consumption, but you can only order one drink at a time. Practically speaking, if you’re traveling with another person, they’ll serve you two.
  • Every person sharing a cabin must purchase a drink package unless there is a medical reason provided to the cruise line. In this case, the second party on the reservation may be required to purchase the Zero Proof package instead. Reservations for different drink packages in the same room must be done by phone, as the online booking system will only allow the same package for both passengers to be purchased.
  • Drink packages don’t include the minibar
  • Watch for discounts. When purchased pre-cruise (Up to 3 days before departure), a discount of 20% is usually offered. This may vary, but Celebrity makes a big deal about early booking discounts, and we’ve never seen this offer NOT be available
  • You can use the Drink Package at Labadee or CocoCay

Including the Celebrity Cruises drink package with the standard fare provides a more all-inclusive approach to cruising.

If the Classic package isn’t enough, you can always upgrade to the Premium drinks package, which includes higher-priced beverages, large martinis, and Champagne.

But is the drink package worth it on Celebrity Cruises?

We’ve got all the details and a simple calculator to help you decide if Celebrity Cruises drink packages are right for you.

Keep reading to learn all about the beverage packages, or click the link to visit the drink package calculator .

Table of Contents

  • Classic Package: Starting at $89 per day

What if you want to purchase a drink over $10?

It’s simple. If you want to purchase a drink that costs more than $10, you will only be charged the difference plus a 20% gratuity on the difference.

The Zero Proof Drink Package is Celebrity Cruises’ non-alcoholic drink package.

The Zero Proof Drink Package starts at $30 per person per day and includes the following:

  • Zero-proof cocktails (Frozen & Non-Frozen)
  • Fresh squeezed juices
  • Premium coffees and teas
  • Bottled water

Is it Worth Upgrading to the Premium Beverage Package?

Passengers enjoying the Celebrity Cruises beverage package on the magic carpet bar

If you have the Classic drink package in your Always Included fare, you might wonder if it’s worth upgrading to the Premium beverage package.

Remember, if you have the Classic package, you can upgrade to the Premium drink package for $12 per person per day.

For most beer and wine drinkers, the upgrade to the premium package isn’t worth it because many of the included drinks are already included in the Classic Beverage Package.

There’s no benefit to upgrading unless you want to purchase higher-priced cocktails, beers, and fine wine.

I would only suggest upgrading if you want a particular brand or prefer to drink higher-priced beverages such as cocktails or gluten-free beer.

How to Upgrade to the Premium Beverage Packages

Bartender on a Celebrity Cruise Ship

So, you’ve received the Classic drink package with your Always Included fare but want to upgrade to the premium package. Now, how do you upgrade?

The first way to upgrade your beverage packages is to upgrade only your drink packages from the Classic Beverage Package to the Premium Package.

After you upgrade, you will receive all of the benefits of the premium package.

Celebrity no longer offers the Elevate or Indulge Packages. These packages ended July 14, 2022. While they were a spectacular deal, it seems the cruise line would rather you spend your money piecemeal instead of on packages…

Good catch! I’ve removed mentions of the Elevate and Indulge package. It will be missed.

I have just booked through Cruise Nation to sail with Celebrity. They say that the drinks package is not included. I telephoned Celebrity and was told it was and to call back cruise nation. We did this and were told after contacting Celebrity the drinks package isn’t included. Most websites say it is, so how do I get this sorted? Thanks in advance.

The cruise fare you are referring to is Celebrity’s Always included fare. This price package includes the drink package, wifi, and gratuities in the base cost of the cruise. It appears that you might have booked the regular cruise fare that doesn’t include these extras.

Your best course of action is to contact Cruise Nation to get it sorted.

Celebrity Cruises Drink Packages and Bar Menus 2024

Here is our ultimate guide to Celebrity Cruises Drink Packages And Bar Menus. All ready for your next Celebrity Cruise in 2024. Readers often message us asking about all-inclusive drinks packages and menus. Hey, we parents are entitled to have a drink too, right?

Of course it’s not only alcoholic drinks packages we need to consider, it’s also which drinks packages? Do you want a wine package, or indeed a soft drink package?

Celebrity Cruises offer lots of choice in their offering of drinks packages, and I have used my experience cruising with Celebrity Cruises, but I also scrolled through and read LOTS and asked many questions to bring you the latest up-to-date information. Occasionally there are Celebrity offers so keep your eyes peeled.

Where Can I Get Drinks Packages On Celebrity Cruises?

The best time to purchase your drinks packages is online before your cruise. Additionally, keep an eye out for special offers as Celebrity does send out email offers occasionally. However, you can also purchase a package or upgrade your package at any bar whilst on board.

On our last cruise, I booked the Classic Drinks Package but was unsure if I would prefer the Premium Drinks Package. The classic did not have Pellegrino included, and I was worried I might not like the wine.

Eventually, I made the decision that I would upgrade should I feel the need to once onboard. I am glad I decided, as the Classic Drinks package on Celebrity Cruises was perfectly fine. There was canned soda water which was a great alternative to sparkling water and the wine was lovely.

Commonly Asked Questions About Celebrity Cruises Drinks Packages

Are the celebrity cruises packages worth the money.

If you look at the menus below you will be able to work out if the packages are good value for you.

As a rough example

  • Wine $9 a glass x 3 with dinner = $27
  • Soft drinks $4 a glass x5 = $20
  • cocktails $9 x3 = $27
  • Coffee ( you can also get in take-out cups) $5 x3 = $15

A grand total of $89.00 and that’s working on the classic drinks package prices. When we have this conversation with people they always rank the drink package value against the amount of alcoholic drinks they drink. However, it makes sense to also factor in speciality coffees, soft drinks and water if you intend to drink those too. Also, scroll to the bottom to see our drinks calculator.

Is Prosecco Included In The Celebrity Cruises Drink Packages?

Yes, certain brands of prosecco are included within the drinks packages.

Can You Use Your Celebrity Drinks Package In The Restaurants?

Yes, you can order drinks from your Celebrity Cruises drink packages in the restaurant. Being a wine drinker we thought we would need an additional wine package. However, we drank wine in all of the restaurants we dined in, and just like a package it was kept in a bucket near our table and refilled regularly.

We were also able to order beer and soft drinks in the restaurant as part of our package.

Does Everyone In Our Stateroom Need To Buy A Drink Package?

All guests wishing to purchase a Drink Package must do so for all guests of legal drinking age in the same cabin. Uk age 18 plus, US, age 21 plus. Additionally if one guest upgrades to the premium package all guests must upgrade.

What Is The Celebrity Cruises Drinks Package Limit?

There is officially no limit, although a member of staff can refuse to serve anyone they deem intoxicated to an unacceptable level.

Can You Take Wine On A Celebrity Cruise Ship?

Yes, you are able to bring 2 bottles of wine onboard per cabin on embarkation day only, however, this will be subject to a corkage fee unless you drink it in your cabin.

Does The Celebrity Drink Package Include Gratuities?

Gratuities are charged at a rate of 20% at the time of ordering your drinks package, so yes, you do pay them, but up front and against the price of the package, rather than the value of the drinks you consume.

What happens if I purchased the Premium Beverage Package and the beverage I would like is more than $17?

If you have the Premium Beverage Package or the Drinks and More Beverage Package and you would like a beverage that was more than $17 then you would simply pay the extra.

Can I get a full look of the wine list please?

I would like to see the complete wine list for the 21-22 cruise year. We are excited to cruise again and plan much wine on our sunset veranda. Cheers!

I will have a look and see if I can find it !

Title says “and Bar Menus” – Where’s all the menus? I can’t see any. Maybe change it to ‘and constant adverts’

Just don’t read, I really do wonder why some people are so nasty, there is a lot of useful info on this post the menus were removed as out of date and we like to provide updated info. The adverts are not excessive and nothing in life is free, the ads are a small way of us being paid for the hours we spend researching and money travelling in good faith to provide information to readers, mostly kind and nice people.  I will take you rudeness as you have had a bad day, because clearly being rude to others makes you feel good about yourself. The fact that you actually took time to comment a mean comment astounds me!

Bravo! I did have a question. The calculator, does it take in account the basic drink package so only the difference is being charged?

Thanks and thank you for the excellent report! We are taking the Panama Christmas cruise. Cant wait!

You are so welcome, and no it’s just the cost of the drinks to work out if you will spend the cost of the package; however, I do wish we had the software to do so. It would be awesome. Have a wonderful cruise. Sarah

I don’t drink alcohol wud I have to purchase package

it is generally for both in one cabin but if you you ring them and tell them you can normally change this

it is generally for both in one cabin but if you you ring them and tell them you can normally will change it for you

Can you please tell me the cost of a range of Sauvignon Blancs on Celebrity Edge, and also Jim Beam, and other bourbons ? Thank you.

The Sauvignon blanc on beyond is $9 so i would expect it to be similar and more than one type. Yes they have a selections of bourbons , Dewar’s White Label, Famous Grouse, Jim Beam, Johnnie Walker Red, Monkey Shoulder, Seagram’s VO.

Hi is it coke cola or Pepsi

Hi we think its coke as of the celebrity beyond’s menu

Thank you so much for this wonderful write-up. Very helpful!

Thanks so much Laura

Do they sell buckets of beer at a discount price?

They do sometimes do offer on the buckets yes but I couldn’t tell you what they were as didn’t buy one

If I just pay as I drink, is it just added to my room tab?

WHen i cruised on 23 March 2023 on the FLower Power Cruise, there were NO menus on paper and I was told to look online. That is a bit difficult when one is aleady on the ship, about to sail. THerewas considerable confusion among some of the Martini Bar bartenders day to day as to what was on my Classic Package list. They denied me Don Julio Tequila which was on my list, but they often poured Grey Goose in martinis when i know the cut off for vodka quality was at TIto’s vodka. ALso i ordered a lemon drop one martini one evening, and they said it was extra. Why would they not make it with the given vodka or gin on my package? It’s impossible to deal with these issues when ship is underway, 7 people are lined up behind you, and two other lines wait around the bar for the 2 other bartenders to serve thirsty patrons. I’d suggest those who plan to purchase an alcohol package print any and all menus and take those when you board the ship. I certainly will.

Thats so annoying we were on in July and the menus were available, I defo dont want to be looking on my phone for menus

A very useful web page, thanks. As a new cruiser, do you have to pay for coffee and tea at breakfast sittings on Celebrity?

Thanks so much, Jonathon; no you don’t tea and coffee is included at mealtime. You can upgrade to speciality ie cappuccino, but regular is included and in my opinion, tasted great.

Hi my wife doesnt drink but I do, can you purchase just one classic drinks package for a room with 2 adults and 2 children please?

Yes if you contact customer services you can explain and request.

Just home from the Edge, med cruise,. Everything was amazing, the food was to die for,the drinks amazing,u could order which brand u liked. Staff unreal, and so friendly, second cruise with Celebraty, almost surreal how good it was, cant wait to go back.

Fantastic information well put together. Thank you very much

Celebrity 2023 Wine Price List (Bottle Only)

By Lanie102 , December 19, 2023 in Celebrity Cruises

Cool Cruiser

Hi All! With the reduction of nicer wines (dare I say finer) within the premium package being reduced, I was curious to see a bottle price list. I know it will be just a sliver of all that is offered, considering there are bottles well over $50k on some ships. If you have any photos, please share!

The wine lists for the various Restaurants, dining rooms and bars is in the app.  I’m not aware of a single wine list.

Keep in mind, just because it's on some list doesn't mean they will have it.

Here's a wine list from Edge -   about 2 weeks ago.   Please note this is an Australia / New Zealand Cruise and prices include the 20% Gratuity due to law that require full price instead of price and then hit you with a 20% Tip.

My goodness!  Thank you for posting this.  Some of these bottle prices are outrageous for Cali wines.  Born and raised in wine country. The mark up is unreal for some of these table wines.  Might be okay if you have an Elite +, Pinnacle discount, OBC, to apply.  But then again, Celebrity holds us all hostage by not offering anything decent by the glass.

Just reread your disclaimer on the pricing.  Gotta love Australia for their laws!  Wish the U.S. had the same.  So maybe the pricing isn't half bad.

Yup, it's the same on the cruise price for Aussie customers - any advertised price here has to be final with no compulsory or de facto compulsory items (e.g. gratuities) to be added later.

It's the same with international wines. The Villa Maria private bin sauvignon blanc is one we're very familiar with. It is £8.50 ($10.80) per bottle here in the UK.  So the Celebrity markup is over 650% there. That's very high when compared to hospitality industry averages. I could have used several other examples with similar mark ups too.  And this is why I always ignore comments from people questioning why people take their own bottles onboard. The margin on one bottle of high end claret might just get you a short Bahamas cruise!

Even if pricing is in Australian dollars this has to be some of the worst gauging I've ever seen on mass-market swill.

Can you buy a bottle of wine from Celebrity before you board and bring it into the dining room? Or do they charge you a corkage fee?

Like most wine lists, the biggest mark-ups are always on the wines they believe people might recognize under $100.

Sassicaia and a few other Italian wines look to be a relative bargains.

No vintages listed either (for the non-Champagne wines).   How can you set a price if you don't know the vintage and provenance of the bottle?

Wine I bought a few weeks ago at $38 is now $60 A mark up of over 60% I’m sorry Celebrity but there’s no way I’d pay that much for that wine so I’ll pass and have a soda Ive never witnessed such blatant gauging

1 hour ago, Contretemps said: Can you buy a bottle of wine from Celebrity before you board and bring it into the dining room? Or do they charge you a corkage fee?

After doing some more research I can answer my own question. If you purchase a bottle of wine from celebrity for your room they will not charge you a corkage fee in the dining room.

1 hour ago, Winemaker_1 said: Even if pricing is in Australian dollars this has to be some of the worst gauging I've ever seen on mass-market swill.

Prices are even worse for you as all prices are in USD.     The only difference is on Australia Sailings they have to add the 20% gratuity that is usually not applied until you get your bill.

If you buy it from the Gift section it will be in your room and you can bring it or even up to 1 bottle per adult passenger and no Corkage fee if you have a drink package.    If no drink package there is a corkage fee for the bottle you  bring aboard with you but not the one from gifts.

Brutal.   Thanks for posting.   P.S. Obviously, I meant gouging, not 'gauging' above.

In fairness the vintage probably isn't going to matter much for most of the wines people discuss around here. I'd probably be hesitant with a 2020 Napa because of the smoke, but we're mostly talking $10-15 retail bottles, not high end single vineyard wines (large parts of the valley weren't impacted, but you'd need to know the difference between Calistoga and Coombsville).

And worse, where vintage might matter, they're almost certainly current vintage/current release. They were tasting (and selling) a current release Barolo on my last cruise that was basically a barrel tasting. I might have bought a bottle at home, but it would have gone straight to the basement for at least 5 years! Great potential, but brutal to drink now.

Like you say, mark-ups are usually highest on the lowest priced wines. That's not unique to cruise ships. You can charge $30-50 for a $10 retail wine, but you're not going to (usually) get $1500 for a bottle of Opus One (for instance).

I've just emailed their executive office to explain my displeasure and given a detailed explanation as to why I'm unhappy. I'd recommend that everyone who is unhappy with recent changes do the same so they understand exactly what their customers think of recent changes.  We normally sail in Sky Suites as I was more or less happy with their pricing. But in recent times you can sail in equivalent suites onboard the likes of Azamara, Oceania, Seabourn, Crystal and in some instances Regent for a per person per night price in the same ball park. And these lines don't try and desperately gouge every single cent they can out of you. So I've also told them they're free to cancel my E+ Captains Club account as I won't be needing it again. Not that they will care at all though. 🙂   It's a really cheap, tacky and desperate approach in my opinion. Not at all representative of the 'premium' image they try and advertise.

Agreed. Vintage is not critical for the roses or everyday wines.  But a $9000 Petrus with no vintage or preamble?  Who would just order that?  It reminds of the old joke:

Diner: "What's the soup du jour"?

Waiter:  "It's the soup of the day"

Diner: "That sounds delicious! I'll have that."

I wouldn't buy a $500 California cabernet without knowing the vintage! I was looking randomly for something else in the app, and Tuscan on Equinox has has Opus One listed at $675 (about a 50% mark-up so not bad). That's almost certainly the 2019 (there is no 2020), and at roughly three years old it's going to be a brute. I've tasted it, probably a year ago, and it has great potential, but no way on earth I'd buy it at $675 and drink it on a cruise ship. We were at a very nice steakhouse in Texas a couple of weeks ago and they had a 2017 Gaja Barbaresco on their wine list. For sale...

I don't go into Petrus territory from Bordeaux. I'm sure it's absolutely amazing, but there's a point where I probably won't perceive the difference. I assume Petrus holds their product at the winery in the bottle for some period before release. But those are wines you lay down for your children and grandchildren! You drink the one your father bought twenty years ago. The truly sad thing is like a really good Barolo or Barbaresco, and some high end California wines, people drink them young and believe that's how they should taste. And Robert Parker gives them 100 points and everyone KNOWS it's a great wine and should taste like an over fruited tannin bomb! And the bottle (probably one, to get their Wine Spectator award) they have will be the current release...

Off the wine rant. If I want something really good I'll pull something out of the basement that's been resting comfortably for the last 8-10 years. Not in Petrus territory!

Celebrity Drink lists

Celebrity Drink Menus are the most creative ones I have seen ever, they also offer a great variety of drinks to please everyone. We were so fortunate on our Celebrity Silhouette ( Click here for the review ) cruise that we had the unlimited beverage package due to the 123 promotion, and this allowed us to really experience Celebrity Drink Menus to the max. There are a few different Celebrity Drink Menus on board, from the Martini bar, Molecular bar, Al Bacio Coffee bar, Sky bar, Michaels Club and the sunset bar. They all have their unique, and target a different range of people. Unfortunately, we did not try all of them, we found a few that we loved and stayed there for most of the time.

We never Michael’s Club as I am not much of a beer drinker, but I have to admit that was a pretty amazing Celebrity Drink list that they offer there in that bar. It also has a very nice atmosphere and cozy feeling to it. We never went to the master cellars, but the area looked very nice as well. I think I also missed the Celebrity Drink menu for that venue. All the bars are very well appointed aboard Celebrity, I am sure everyone will find an area that they can call home for the length of the voyage.

The Best New Cruises in the World: 2024 Hot List

By CNT Editors

It’s inevitable: Every spring when we pull together the Hot List , our annual collection of the world’s best new hotels, restaurants, and cruise ships, a staffer remarks that this latest iteration has got to be the best one ever. After a year’s worth of traveling the globe—to stay the night at a converted farmhouse in the middle of an olive grove outside Marrakech , or sail aboard a beloved cruise line’s inaugural Antarctic voyage—it’s easy to see why we get attached. But this year’s Hot List, our 28th edition, might really be the best one ever. It’s certainly our most diverse, featuring not only a hotel suite that was once Winston Churchill’s office, but also the world’s largest cruise ship and restaurants from Cape Town to Bali. We were surprised and inspired by this year’s honorees, and we know you will be too. These are the Hot List cruise winners for 2024.

Celebrity Ascent — Celebrity Cruises Arrow

Celebrity is a premium big-ship cruise brand, focusing on exquisite dining, cutting-edge amenities, Instagram-worthy public spaces chock-full of bespoke art pieces, and avant-garde onboard entertainment. The ship makes passengers feel, in a word, glamorous. Celebrity Ascent ’s sumptuously designed interiors are flooded with natural light and evoke an air of playful sophistication that make a week on board an escape worth cherishing. Passengers may find themselves longing to return for just one more succulent crab claw at Raw on 5, one more martini poured by bottle-spinning bartenders in the Martini Bar, or one more dazzling, acrobatic stage show, in the days following their farewells to this beautiful ship. From $710 per person for a seven-night sailing. —Scott Laird

Emerald Sakara — Emerald Cruises Arrow

Now with two oceangoing vessels joining Emerald’s more established fleet of nine river-dedicated “Star-Ships,” the decade-old cruise line is extending a brand built on unpretentious luxury to more corners of the world. Christened last August, the 100-guest superyacht, Sakara, is a near twin to Azzurra, which in 2022 ushered in a new era for Emerald by taking to the high seas. Sakara, like its sister, delightfully blurs the line between the luxury and ultra-luxury cruise categories, offering attentive service, gourmet cuisine, tasteful decor, and an eclectic slate of activities at a price point friendly to more budgets. The cherry on top with both superyachts is a slew of perks atypical of small-ship sailing, ranging from an impressively comprehensive spa to a marina platform well equipped for more fun in the sun. Despite having so much good stuff, each vessel is remarkably spacious. Getting a sense of being on a private yacht is easy like Sunday morning. Sakara is homeported in the Caribbean and the Mediterranean through at least March 2026; Azzurra, too, in addition to the Middle East, Kenya, and the Seychelles. Emerald’s river operations are based in Europe and Southeast Asia. (Note that a third ship, the Kaia , has just been announced by the cruise line; it debuts in April 2026, and, for all the early birds, it is now open for bookings.) From $3,850. —David Dickstein

Explora I — Explora Journeys Arrow

With a showpiece lobby bar, upscale restaurants, and a sultry infinity pool, Explora Journeys' relaxed luxury-resort-at-sea vibe strikes the perfect balance on Explora I. Launched in August 2023, the all-inclusive ship is disarmingly beautiful. A sleek navy blue exterior cocoons 461 suites, all with deep balconies, walk-in closets, and marble bathrooms. There is free-flowing Champagne, 7,500 square feet of wellness space, and 18 drinking and dining venues. From Emporium Marketplace, with its decadent raw bar, to pan-Asian restaurant Sakura, the dining on Explora I is sensational. Marble & Co. Grill is an intimate steakhouse where aging meats hang in temperature-controlled cabinets. At Anthology, the ship's only supplementary restaurant, guest chefs—such as Claude Le Tohic of San Francisco's O' by Claude Le Tohic—curate sublime tasting menus. There's more: The only Rolex boutique at sea, huge hot tubs, and a shore program that sees some land experiences developed in partnership with revered explorer Mike Horn. Icon of the Seas — Royal Caribbean International Arrow

Aboard the Icon, you can really get lost. The behemoth is just plain big, with capacity for nearly 8,000 when combining passengers and crew across 20 decks and 250,800 gross tons. Two and a half laps around the ship’s jogging track, a particular highlight onboard, and you’ve run a mile. So one can find themselves in need of a map—forgetting your sunscreen, for example, in your cabin is a bit of a chore depending on how far you’ve made it. But the abundance of things to do is also narcotic, and you feel a bit like a lotus-eater attempting to navigate it all while keeping your head. Amid the relentless entertainment, not to be missed are the top-notch performers present everywhere, from the Olympic-level aquatics show that you can watch from the windows of the specialty seafood restaurant should seating be elusive (it often is) to the cafeteria, where crew members dressed as food items sing songs reminding (commanding, actually, which is fabulous) passengers to wash their hands at sinks near the entrance. If you wish to enjoy the largest waterpark at sea, by the way, do what I did not and pack a swimsuit without zippers. From $2,249. —Charlie Hobbs

MSC Euribia — MSC Cruises Arrow

Looking at a row of cruise ships in port, you'll spot MSC Euribia right away. She's covered bow to stern by an ocean-themed mural by German artist Alex Flämig that bears the hashtag #SaveTheSeas nodding to the MSC's dedication to sustainable cruising: the European cruise line aims to be net-zero by 2050. MSC Euribia brings it one step closer to that goal, as it's the fleet's greenest ship yet, operating on liquified natural gas (LNG) and running advanced water and waste treatment systems onboard. But enough with the technical details—this mega-ship is packed with activities and entertainment, with 10 restaurants, 21 bars, five pools, two performance venues, and a bevy of family-friendly amenities, like an F1 simulator, a waterpark, and a bowling alley. More adult-oriented highlights include the MSC Aurea Spa, with a thermal suite outfitted with thalassotherapy pools, a salt cave, and a snow room, as well as the Helios Wine Maker bar for wine tastings. From $519. —Stefanie Waldek

Norwegian Viva — Norwegian Cruise Line Arrow

The second entry in Norwegian Cruise Line’s new Prima Class, Viva is like an Irish twin of older sister Prima . There’s the same stateroom count at 1,586, done in pristine and pleasing neutrals, as well as familiarly tricked-out amenities like the zippy 1,400-foot go-kart racing track that undulates over the top decks. Importantly, the Ocean Walk, which my colleague Mercedes Bleth adored aboard the Prima, remains. But round two afforded the premier name in large-ship cruising a chance to tweak and perfect, with an influx of seating options both in the ship’s complimentary dining hall as well as on its myriad decks. Across from the signature “zero-waste” Metropolitan Bar, where yummy drinks are whipped up from the ship’s food waste (I particularly enjoy a buttery Croissant Mai-Tai, for which hardening pastries are boiled down into sweetening syrup; the same is done with banana peels) is an interactive piece of digital art 52 feet wide that sees butterflies flit beside passersby. Breezy class all around. From $979. —Charlie Hobbs

Oceania Vista — Oceania Cruises Arrow

Vista, Oceania’s first new ship in more than a decade and the first of its Allura Class, debuted with small but mighty upgrades to its previous ships: better stabilizers for a smoother sailing experience; stronger Wi-Fi; lighting and architecture designed to make the ship’s common spaces look and feel roomier; a resort-like pool deck; and balconies in every cabin. The real star of the show, though, is the food and beverage experience— Vista ’s culinary program delivers on its promise of top-quality venues you’ll want to make the rounds at. New to the lineup are Ember, a steakhouse with decor straight out of Napa Valley, and Aquamar Kitchen, serving up lighter fare that doesn’t skimp on taste. Celebrate a birthday, an anniversary, or a just-because occasion with the Cellar Masters Wine Luncheon, a five-course meal and wine pairing. And don’t miss the elaborate sea day brunch, where towers of lobster, crab, and caviar await. Of course, the ship is just one destination. This year Vista is splitting time between the Mediterranean and the Caribbean; next year it will venture farther into Europe with ports of call like Istanbul, Stockholm, and Klaipeda, Lithuania. Its sister ship, Allura, sets sail in 2025 From $2,699. —Madison Flager

Scenic Eclipse II — Scenic Luxury Cruises and Tours Arrow

The eagerly awaited Scenic Eclipse II is the new and improved version of Scenic's first expedition vessel, Scenic Eclipse . Dubbed "discovery yachts" for their sleek look and top-tier service, the sisters are nearly identical, with most changes so subtle that most guests might not even notice them, such as the slight enlargement of the steam room in the spa. But a big difference can be found on deck 10, where a plunge pool with jets for simulated lap swimming has taken the place of two hot tubs—and there's a new Sky Bar up here. Otherwise, Scenic Eclipse II has the same beloved amenities of its sister, most notably 10 exceptional dining experiences, from a sushi bar to a French restaurant with an attached Champagne bar; a 5,920-square-foot spa; two helicopters; and a submersible. Capable of sailing all over the world, including the polar regions, Scenic Eclipse II has itineraries for every type of traveler. From $7,455. —Stefanie Waldek

Seabourn Pursuit — Seabourn Cruise Line Arrow

Pursuit is a small “yacht-like” expedition ship with a distinct green exterior whose destinations range from Antarctica to warmer climes like the Kimberley in Australia. The decadent cabins, bigger than some standard hotel rooms, feel spacious and relaxing, complete with all the subtle touches that make you feel immediately at home. You can hang your evening attire in the walk-in closet and dry your wet swimwear—or damp Arctic expedition gear—in the built-in warming compartment; have sunrise breakfasts or sunset cocktails mixed at the in-room wet bar on your private balcony; and sleep in a plush, queen-sized bed. But what truly sets this cruise apart is the attentive and personable staff who quickly learn your name and personal preferences, providing VIP treatment throughout the journey. Seven Seas Grandeur — Regent Seven Seas Cruises Arrow

Ports in the Caribbean, the Greek Isles, and the Riviera might be the draw, but the all-inclusive luxury line Regent Seven Seas Cruises produces ships that have travelers looking forward to those days at sea, as its sixth offering, Grandeur, further proves. All of the 372 suites, which start at a roomy 307 square feet, are decorated in calming neutral blues and beige, and feature furnished balconies; most have L'Occitane bubbles for the marble tub. Quiet comfort can also be had in the Serene Spa & Wellness outdoor lounge area, following a massage on a quartz crystal bed that mimics the feel of warm sand. Cravings for a porterhouse or a vegetarian Salisbury steak can be sated by Prime 7, with other venues serving specialty pan-Asian cuisine, French fare, ample buffets, and Italian offerings. Mainstay Compass Rose has been reimagined as a light, airy space where diners breakfast under playfully elegant pillars that resemble crystal trees. Grandeur 's whimsy extends to its reception area, where guests can check out Journey in Jewels, the Fabergé egg made specifically for the vessel, where it will remain for the rest of its jeweled ovoid days. The maximum number of 744 guests ensures unhurried service and uncrowded environs as you recover from a sunny day of swimming with Caribbean pigs. From $4,699 . —Alexandra Sanidad

Silver Nova — Silversea Cruises Arrow

A voyage on Silversea’s latest ship, Silver Nova, is one of taste and style. With expansive glass features throughout each of the 11 decks, and an ocean-facing saltwater swimming pool, the ship’s unique asymmetrical design leaves room for adults to run and play (with swank, of course). The Nova ’s reimagined culinary experience, SALT (Sea and Land Taste), is the first large-scale, regional restaurant at sea, and acts as an invitation to guests to experience more than an excursion. While initially introduced on Silver Moon, the Nova ’s SALT program includes SALT Lab by day: an intimate cooking class with highly acclaimed chefs and regional cuisine recipes inspired by the next destination. With one nightly seating, SALT Chef's Table offers an exclusive and creatively interactive dining experience. It’s all very intimate—as chefs showcase the art of their crafts firsthand, guests peek into a new culture, and place, before even disembarking. From $3,050. —Jessica Chapel

An aerial of a cruise ship in a river.

Viking Aton — Viking River Cruises Arrow

In the style of all Viking ships, the Rottet Studio–designed Aton is intended for comfortable and thought-provoking exploration—just look to the book-filled shelves in the cabins, curated by London’s Heywood Hill library, and the revolving door of on-board lecturers (on my trip, an English curator spoke about the evolving depictions of Egypt in 1900s popular art). It should be no surprise that in a destination as rich and storied as Egypt’s Nile, where the Aton is permanently based, the guides set apart what may read as a quintessential itinerary. On the Pharaohs & Pyramids journey, which takes travelers from the Valley of the Kings, where King Tut lies, to the Great Pyramid of Giza and well beyond over 12 days, esteemed Egyptologists oscillate from translating hieroglyphics on temple walls in real time, to shepherding travelers through modern night markets with endless fervor. On this ship it isn’t just what you see but how much you listen—and the team here, predominantly Egyptian, has much to say. These days, travelers crave perspective-altering experiences more than ever; get on the Aton and you’ll get once-in-a-lifetime access (until, that is, your next Aton sailing). From $5,999. —Megan Spurrell

Resilient Lady — Virgin Voyages Arrow

Stepping onto Resilient Lady feels a bit like heading to summer camp. The massive vessel is like a giant playground for adults, which is why it draws a fun-loving crowd. Theme night parties, a nostalgic arcade room, plenty of board games, and basketball courts are just a few of the seemingly limitless onboard activities. Compared with its sister ships, the newest Virgin Voyages addition includes upgraded onboard entertainment and exciting new ports of call like the Greek Islands, Bali, and Mumbai. Most of the shows on this specific ship are new to the line, such as Persephone, an interactive performance developed in collaboration with famed Brooklyn nightclub House of Yes, and Another Rose, an immersive dinner experience. Dining options are abundant on the ship—20-plus to be exact—and all of them are included with every passenger ticket. Plus, you can’t miss out on a visit to the several different sauna experiences in the Thermal Suite inside the Redemption Spa. From $2,000 . —Rachel Dube

World Voyager — Atlas Ocean Voyages Arrow

There are superbly comfortable spaces and floor-to-ceiling windows aplenty on World Voyager, the latest vessel from Atlas Ocean Voyages. On an Antarctica expedition, from the sauna or the spa’s relaxation room, with its heated loungers perfectly positioned in front of a wall of glass, you might watch turquoise icebergs float by. Back in your cozy stateroom, Champagne and strawberries await, as do the views from a Juliet or walkout balcony. The look throughout the 100 cabins and public spaces is Scandinavian modern, thanks to blond woods, marble floors, plush carpets in geometric patterns, and curvaceous furniture draped in velvety fabrics. In the elegant dining room, the focus is on international cuisine with a farm-to-table slant—think mushroom risotto and smoked duck with chargrilled vegetables. Meanwhile, the multipage cocktail menu beckons guests to a pair of spacious lounges. Blending yacht-style elegance and boutique-resort intimacy, this is a ship where you can make new friends easily but also retreat to a favorite spot to enjoy high tea in peaceful solitude while awaiting details from the crew on the adventures that lie ahead. The hip vibe on board the adults-only Virgin Voyages ships is ideal for solo cruisers looking to meet other travelers. Its superyacht-style ships – Scarlet Lady, Valiant Lady and Resilient Lady – offer 40 interior cabins ranging in size from 105 to 177 square feet. There are also six Sea View staterooms with portholes boasting between 130 to 190 square feet of space. These Insider and Sea View cabins are designed and priced for single travelers, with amenities like high-tech mood lighting and roomy rain showers. The line also runs promotions where solo cruisers can book double occupancy staterooms without paying a single supplement.

Activities and festival-like entertainment around the ships foster fast friendships. Diners will enjoy the interactive experience at Gunbae, the lively Korean barbecue venue. The "grog walk" is a fun pub stroll where solo sailors can join fellow mates while sipping and snacking their way through all the signature bars. For even more fun, check out the evening shipwide events such as the themed Scarlet Party, which features live music and immersive experiences. The line also hosts meetups for singles throughout each voyage.

Avalon Waterways' river and small-ship cruises traverse waterways around the world, including in Europe, Asia, Africa and South America. The company waives the single supplement on a selection of staterooms, including its Panorama Suites, on select European and Asia departures. The company recommends booking early as the specially priced cabins do sell out. Solo travelers make up about 10% of the passengers on this river cruise line .

Avalon's fleet of Suite Ships operates in Europe and Southeast Asia and features cabins with a minimum of 172 square feet. About 80% of the staterooms are Panorama Suites, which have 200 feet of living space, beds with a view and the river cruise industry's only open-air balcony. With Avalon excursions, solo cruisers have opportunities to meet like-minded guests during immersive tours, cooking classes, wine tastings, yoga or fitness classes, biking or hiking trips, and more. Single guests can choose to dine at tables for just two people or ones that can accommodate up to eight passengers.
