The National Hockey League (NHL) and the National Hockey League Players’ Association (NHLPA), together with Live Nation, today announced that the 2024 NHL Global Series™ presented by Fastenal will be headlined by the Buffalo Sabres, New Jersey Devils, Dallas Stars and Florida Panthers.

On Friday, October 4 and Saturday, October 5, the Sabres and Devils will open the 2024-25 regular season with a pair of games at Prague’s O2 Arena. The games in Prague will be played on October 4 at 7:00 p.m. and October 5 at 4:00 p.m.

In advance of traveling to Prague, the Sabres will finish their training camp in Munich, Germany and will meet Deutsche Eishockey Liga (DEL) club Red Bull Munich in an exhibition match Friday, Sept. 27. This will be the grand-opening event at Red Bull Munich’s brand-new home venue, SAP. The Stars and Panthers will then meet at Nokia Arena in Tampere, Finland Friday, Nov. 1 and Saturday, Nov. 2.

The 2024 NHL Global Series presented by Fastenal will mark the 11th season that the NHL has traveled to Europe to play regular-season games. These games reward the legions of loyal and passionate fans in Europe that enjoy live NHL games available via international broadcast and media partners, including MTV Oy and Viaplay (Finland), TV10 and Viaplay (Sweden), TV3 and Viaplay (Norway and Denmark), Nova and NovaSport (Czechia and Slovakia), Dajto (Slovakia), Sky and ProSieben (Germany), Sky (Austria) and MySports (Switzerland), as well as the NHL’s streaming service, NHL.TV. The NHL’s biggest star players are also featured across numerous social media platforms, and on NHL.com in seven languages, for the League’s international fans. Of the 42 previous NHL regular-season games played outside of North America, there have been seven games played in Czechia, all at O2 Arena in Prague. The two games in Tampere this season will mark the third and fourth games to be played at Nokia Arena in that city, and the 10th and 11th in Finland.

The 2024 NHL Global Series presented by Fastenal will be the first experience for the Stars playing regular-season games outside North America, becoming the 27th franchise to play in such games. The event will mark the second time the Devils have traveled overseas to play regular-season games and the third such trip for both the Sabres and Panthers. Results of regular-season games played outside of North America by New Jersey, Buffalo and Florida are listed below, as well as links to a complete history of NHL preseason games and regular-season games played outside North America.

The NHL is a global League, with more than 30 percent of NHL Players this season having been born outside of North America. There are multiple international stars on the rosters of all four Clubs participating in the 2024 NHL Global Series presented by Fastenal, including natives of the countries in which the games are being played. Sabres forward JJ Peterka will be returning to his birthplace when the Club visits Munich to face off against his former team. Peterka played 72 DEL games with Red Bull Munich during the 2019-20 and 2020-21 seasons, prior to making the transition to North America to join the Sabres. Then, in Prague, two Czech-born Devils forwards, Ondrej Palat and Tomas Nosek, will be returning to their native land, as will Sabres forward Lukas Rousek, who played 161 games over four seasons (2017-18 through 2020-21) with Prague-based Czech Extraliga club Sparta Praha.

In November, Tampere will welcome back a pair of native sons, in Panthers Captain Aleksander Barkov and Stars forward Roope Hintz. In addition to hailing from Tampere, both of those mainstays spent time with SM-liiga teams that call Nokia Arena home. Barkov was drafted second overall in 2013 by the Panthers from Tappara Tampere, and Hintz started his SM-liiga career with Ilves Tampere in 2013-14. Panthers defenseman Niko Mikkola also spent a season (2017-18) with Tappara Tampere, and two other teammates, forwards Anton Lundell and Eetu Luostarinen, will also be returning to their home country. Additionally, there will be a homecoming for a trio of other Finnish-born Stars regulars, defensemen Jani Hakanpää, Miro Heiskanen and Esa Lindell.

Showjumping is here, global champions prague playoffs unveils line-up for super showdown this week.

Prague, Czech Republic – November 14, 2023 – With only two days left until the commencement of the 2023 GC Prague Playoffs [16 – 19 November], equestrians are arriving in the heart of the Czech Republic’s capital, gearing up for a spectacular showdown.

The event promises a thrilling display of talent, featuring the world’s finest show jumping athletes. They are set to vie for top honors in both the Longines Global Champions Tour Super Grand Prix and the GCL Super Cup . Today, the official roster of riders for the eagerly awaited GC Prague Playoffs was revealed, showcasing the crème de la crème of equine and human sportsmanship. These elite athletes are poised to elevate the event and compete for a staggering prize purse of over €11 million, marking the grand finale of 2023.

Enthusiasts can anticipate four days of elite-level competition, commencing with the GCL knockout Quarter and Semi-Final stages on Thursday and Friday, culminating in the electrifying Final on Sunday. Teams are meticulously strategizing rider and horse representation, aiming to position themselves for a shot at claiming the prestigious GCL Super Cup.

From local favorites to international icons, the GC Playoffs will witness the sport’s most prominent figures contending in both the LGCT Super Grand Prix as individuals and the GCL Super Cup as integral team members.

At the GC Prague Playoffs, the 16 teams have the opportunity to implement their strategies, fielding four riders throughout the event, with three riders participating in every round, ensuring no drop scores. Teams will be bolstered by esteemed stars such as   Martin Fuchs (SUI), Marlon Zanotelli (BRA), Ben Maher (GBR), Gregory Wathelet (BEL), Marcus Ehning (GER), John Whitaker (GBR), Malin Baryard Johnson (SWE), Niels Bryunseels (BEL), homegrown hero Anna Kellnerová (CZE) and 2023 LGCT Champion Harrie Smolders (NED).

Three out of the 16 teams have adopted a daring approach, selecting three riders to represent them. Rome Gladiators, backed by ClipMyHorse.TV, Monaco Aces, and Istanbul Warriors, powered by Carpe Diem, have embraced this high-risk, high-reward strategy, leaving no margin for errors.

The top four teams from the 2023 Championship standings, Riesenbeck International, supported by Kingsland Equestrian, Paris Panthers, Madrid In Motion, and St Tropez Pirates, have already secured their direct passage to the GCL Super Cup Semi-Finals. Skipping the knockout Quater-Finals and jumping in the high-pressure arena one day less than their rivalas will immensely help these elite squads compete for glory.

Throughout the 2023 season, the coveted golden ticket to the Longines Global Champions Tour Super Grand Prix has been the ultimate goal for riders. With 16 formidable contenders vying for the high-stakes title, they will confront two challenging 1.65m tracks beneath the impressive O2 arena in Prague on Saturday night, November 18. This promises a sensational evening of world-class show jumping.

Competing for a coveted spot on the podium are an elite group of the best performing riders at each stage of the 2023 Championship.  Philipp Weishaupt (GER), the winner of 2023’s kick off stage, goes head to head with  Katrin Eckermann (GER), David Will (GER), 2018 LGCT Super Grand Prix winner and  Edwina Tops-Alexander (AUS). They are joined by two time 2023 LGCT Grand Prix winner  Julien Epaillard (FRA), LGCT Championship second place getter  Maikel van der Vleuten (NED), world number one and 2021 LGCT Super Grand Prix winner  Henrik von Eckermann (SWE), come-back king,  Christian Ahlmann  (GER) and 2023 season champion  Harrie Smolders (NED) .  Young gun  Bertram Allen  (IRL)is within the ranks, plus  Max Kühner (AUT) , Jessica Springsteen (USA) , Sanne Thijssen (NED) , Peder Fredricson (SWE) , Andreas Schou (DEN) ,  and Mr consistent,  Christian Kukuk (GER).

The 2023 season has witnessed a surge in young talent, and the GCL Super Cup will feature rising stars like, 2023 Championship winners  Philipp Schulze Topphoff (GER), third-place finisher in the overall season championship  Jack Whitaker (GBR). Among the U25 ranks competing on the big stage  Isabella Russekoff (ISR), Nina Mallevay (FRA) and  Jodie Hall McAteer  (GBR) compete alongside  Mike Kawai (JPN), Sara Vigralkova (CZE), and  Gilles Thomas  (BEL) on the global stage at the GC Prague Playoffs .

Interview with Faculty Leader: Sandra Kumorowski

How does Global Marketing in Prague integrate marketing principles with local culture to provide students with a comprehensive learning experience?  

Sandra Kumorowski : The program’s core is designed to offer students a real client experience in the context of the Czech culture via a partnership with a local brand. The program partners are well-established brands in the Czech Republic that charge students with a task to develop a marketing plan based on the brands’ current needs. Initially, students meet with the brand’s leadership team, composed of brand owners, CEOs, and/or managing directors, that introduces the brand and presents the brief. After the meeting, each student team deliberates the task and prepares a marketing plan. In order to succeed in a client project, students must research and think in the local context and apply learned marketing principles to design a strategy that will address the brand’s key needs and challenges. Client presentations are scheduled towards the end of the program in Prague and the client gives immediate feedback to each student team, which is another invaluable learning experience provided by the program. This year, students will also have a unique opportunity to visit another European capital, Vienna, and directly participate in a global marketing workshop within one of the largest start-up festivals called ViennaUP’24.    

What previous industry collaborations or partnerships does the course offer to students, allowing them to gain real-world insights into global marketing?  

Sandra Kumorowski : Industry partnerships and collaborations are key to achieving the program’s learning outcomes. During the stay in Prague, students spend a considerable time collaborating with a Czech client on development of a marketing strategy for the brand. The program also offers additional opportunities to meet with many other Czech and international brands that in the past included the following brands:  

• Dermacol: the most famous and oldest Czech cosmetic and European heritage brand established in 1966. The brand operates in 70 countries and has been our main program partner for the last 7 years. Students are charged with developing a marketing strategy that is relevant based on each year need. Last summer, students had to develop a social media marketing plan for the US consumers.  
• Cosmopolitan magazine, the Czech edition: one of the most popular magazines in the world that established operations in the Czech Republic in 1994. The program collaborates with the magazine on various events each year. In some of the previous collaborations, students were tasked to develop covers and content for 12 issues of the magazine.  
• Google: Students visit the Google headquarters in Prague and meet with the leadership team to discuss current marketing trends related to the brand.  
• FCB (Foote, Cone & Belding) advertising agency: Students collaborated on the agency project’s including the launch of Oreo cookies in the Czech Republic.  
• L’Oreal: Students participated in a fashion show produced by L’Oreal where they had to design various experiential touchpoints for the event.

Could you elaborate on the unique experiential learning opportunities students can expect during their time in Prague, particularly those focused on understanding consumer behavior and market trends?  

Sandra Kumorowski : When in Prague, students meet with many important professionals that work in business, education, and cultural sectors. These meetings are key to understanding consumer behavior and market trends in the local context. Exposure to the business sector is provided through the client project experience and other brand visits. One of the fundamental educational experiences is a lecture on economic, political, and cultural history of the Czech lands delivered by internationally recognized faculty of Charles University in Prague, which is one of the oldest universities in the world, established in 1348 and ranked among the top 200 best universities in the world.   

Lastly, students are exposed to the Czech culture through architectural tours of the city, museum visits, literature overview, concerts including jazz and classical, and Czech culinary experiences. Students will also gain valuable cultural insights from the instructors’ Czech and European heritage and expertise: Professor Sandra Kumorowski was born in the Czech Republic and Professor Philippe Ravanas was born in France.  

In what ways does the program facilitate cross-cultural competency development among students to effectively navigate diverse marketing landscapes in Prague?  

Sandra Kumorowski : From the beginning of the program, students are exposed to various cross-cultural activities in a form of lectures, brand visits, and targeted observation research to prepare them for an effective analysis of the marketing landscape in Prague. For example, students have to complete observation research in one of the largest shopping malls in Prague and evaluate similarities and differences in consumer behavior and marketing trends between the Czech Republic and the US.

Can you share some success stories or notable achievements of past participants in the program that highlight the practical application of global marketing concepts learned during their study abroad experience in Prague?  

Sandra Kumorowski : Many students participating in the Prague Global Marketing program became successful international marketers. After the completion of the program and her graduation, a former student Vanessa Monson moved to Paris and has worked ever since for many French brands including Givenchy and Evian. Vanessa still lives and works in France. The similar story shares another former student of the program, Christina Lopresti. Christina also moved to France and went on to complete her MBA in Global Luxury Brand Management at the Sup de Luxe founded by Cartier.   

Christina held positions as a Head of Social Media for Lancôme Global and currently for The Frankie Shop in Paris. Haitham al-Rahim participated in the program before his graduation and has traveled the world extensively and is presently located in Berlin, Germany where he heads marketing for an international company GO2 Markets that connects buyers and sellers globally to facilitate trading of multiple commoditized environmental products, including Energy Efficiency Certificates, Renewable Energy, Biogas, and Carbon Emission. These are just a few examples of students that successfully applied concepts learned in the program into their professional careers. There are many more students who, thanks to the program, gained overall global awareness and applied it to their current jobs.

Nelly Korda continues to solidify standing atop latest Olympic Golf Ranking Update

Reigning Olympic gold medalist Nelly Korda has continued to solidify her place at the top of both the Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings and Olympic Golf Rankings, as she has collected five straight victories in her last five starts on the LPGA Tour.

Korda began her run with a playoff win over Lydia Ko in her hometown of Bradenton, Florida, at the LPGA Drive On Championship at Bradenton Country Club, and after a seven-week break from competition, picked up another title at the FIR HILLS SERI PAK Championship, this time winning in a one-hole playoff over Ryann O’Toole at Palos Verdes Golf Club in California.

She won again the next week at the Ford Championship presented by KCC after carding a final-round 65 in dreary conditions at Seville Golf and Country Club in Gilbert, Arizona, and then defeated Leona Maguire 4 and 3 in the championship match at the T-Mobile Match Play presented by MGM Rewards, her 12th career LPGA Tour title.

Korda went on to capture her second major title last week at The Chevron Championship, winning by two shots over Maja Stark at The Club at Carlton Woods in The Woodlands, Texas. With the win, the 25-year-old became just the third player since 1978 to win five straight tournaments on the LPGA Tour, joining Nancy Lopez and Annika Sorenstam, and was the first player since herself in 2021 to win a major championship and the event before.

Korda is one of four Americans currently ranked inside the top 15 of the Olympic Golf Ranking. Lilia Vu, who won four times during the 2023 season, including two major championships, has been dealing with a back injury this year but has still managed to remain second in the standings.

Last year’s CPKC Women’s Open champion, Megan Khang, is sitting at 13th in the Olympic Golf Ranking with her good friend and UCLA alum Alison Lee right behind her in the 14th position. Khang has earned three top-15 results so far this year, the best of which is a solo third that came at the LPGA Drive On Championship, while Lee has recorded two top-10 finishes, tying for third at the FIR HILLS SERI PAK Championship and tying for eighth at the Ford Championship presented by KCC.

But the United States isn’t the only country with more than two representatives inside the top 15 of the Rolex Rankings.

The Republic of Korea has had plenty of success in previous Olympic Games, as Inbee Park took home the gold medal in 2016 in Rio. As of April 23, Jin Young Ko and Hyo Joo Kim are sitting at seventh and 10th, respectively, in the Olympic Golf Ranking, while Amy Yang is ranked 15th.

Ko has played in just three events this year after a two-win season in 2023, finishing T20, T8 and then missing the cut in the three tournaments in which she has competed in 2024. Kim has recorded two top-10 finishes in six starts this season, tying for fifth at the Honda LPGA Thailand and tying for eighth at the Ford Championship presented by KCC in March. She picked up her sixth career LPGA Tour victory last fall at The Ascendant LPGA benefiting Volunteers of America.

Yang won the season-ending CME Group Tour Championship in November 2023 at Tiburón Golf Club after recording a four-day total of 27-under. It’s been a slow start to the 2024 LPGA Tour season for the 34-year-old, whose best finish this year is a tie for 22nd that came at the Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions.

While there hasn’t been any substantially significant movement in the Olympic Golf Ranking in recent weeks, Stark did move ahead of fellow Swede Linn Grant in the standings after her runner-up finish at The Chevron Championship. The 24-year-old was ranked 26th in the Olympic Golf Ranking as of April 15, while Grant was in 21st. But after her solid showing at The Club at the Carlton Woods, Stark is now ranked 22nd, one spot ahead of Grant, who is currently ranked 23rd.
