Kesha Won’t Be Silenced on Upcoming ‘Gag Order’ Tour

  • By Jon Blistein

Jon Blistein

Kesha will return to the road this fall in support of her most recent album, Gag Order .

The 20-date trek will kick off Oct. 15 at the Factory in Deep Ellum in Dallas and wrap Nov. 18 at the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles. Kesha will receive support from Jake Wesley Rogers throughout the tour.

Tickets for all shows will go on sale June 2 at 10 a.m. local time, with presales set to begin May 31 at 10 a.m. local time. Full information is available on Kesha’s website .

Gag Order, which was produced by Rick Rubin, marks Kesha’s fifth studio album and first in three years, following 2020’s High Road . As Kesha explained in a recent interview with Rolling Stone , the album continues the self-exploration she’s been doing in her thirties after her “strange and interesting” twenties.

Jojo siwa promised them pop stardom. they say they were ‘thrown in the trash’, biden's meeting with muslim community leaders on gaza was disastrous, chappell roan lectured at harvard and kissed olivia rodrigo all in one day.

“I feel as if there has been an implied gag order for a very long time now,” she said. “With my ongoing litigation hanging over my head, I have not been able to speak freely because I know everything I say is scrutinized.”

Kesha Announces the Gag Order Tour

Kesha is coming to all your favorite cities on the Gag Order tour, and she can’t wait for her voice to be heard! The pop megastar will begin on October 15th in Dallas, TX, continuing through November 18th in Los Angeles, CA.

“Without the darkness there is no light. So I let my darkness have the light," Kesha said in a statement. "I can’t fight the truth. Life is difficult and painful. It is for everyone,” adding that “An artist doesn’t exist to make others happy. I believe an artist gives voice, motion, color to the emotions we all have. The good emotions, and the unmanageably f***ing miserable ones.”

Anybody who has been to a Kesha concert knows that it’s quite the party. Colorful lights, grand costumes, and killer dance moves are practically guaranteed. While she’ll always own her fun performance persona, things may be a bit more serious this time. Gag Order isn’t just the name of this Kesha tour but also her all-new fifth album, which reflects her introspective and often excruciating 20s.

While her last record, 2020’s High Road , was a return to her dance-pop roots, the now-36-year-old explores all genres on her new release. We’re talking about art pop, experimental, and even country music! What can you expect at these Kesha concerts? The first thing to know is that new songs like “Fine Line” and “Only Love Can Save Us Now” deal with darker themes like depression, loss, and exploitation, but over the most psychedelic beats.

And for the record, it’s 100% authentically Kesha. She’s speaking up about difficult topics like her ongoing legal battle with producer Dr. Luke, which prevented her from making music for years. Along with the trauma and feelings of helplessness that have haunted her for years. However, she’s showing that while it’s important to speak up about these issues, she’ll never let them define her. And the result is one of the most personal and profound records of her career.

Remember the girl who sang all your favorite club songs, like “TiK ToK,” “Die Young,” and “Blah Blah Blah,” over a decade ago? She’s now older, wiser, and more talented than ever. And you can’t miss your chance to see Kesha sing her heart out. Check out the dates for the Gag Order tour below:

Kesha Plots 20-City Tour Supporting Gag Order Album

Kesha, the Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter, has exciting news for her fans: she is embarking on a 20-city North American tour this fall in support of her new album, Gag Order. The tour will feature special guest Jake Wesley Rogers, promising an unforgettable concert experience.

GAG ORDER TOUR. WHO'S TURNING UP? TIX ON SALE 6.2 AT 10AM LOCAL. https://t.co/j4rBERAtMl pic.twitter.com/YRcqm6av20 — kesha (@KeshaRose) May 30, 2023

Kesha announced the tour on Tuesday via her social media platforms, writing, “GAG ORDER TOUR. WHO’S TURNING UP?” She expressed her enthusiasm in the comments section, stating, “We gonna burn the house down bby.”

The Gag Order Tour is scheduled to commence on October 15 in Dallas and will visit various cities across North America, including New Orleans, Atlanta, Nashville, Philadelphia, Boston, New York City, Toronto, Detroit, and Chicago. The tour will conclude on November 18 in Los Angeles.

Gag Order, Kesha’s latest album, was released earlier this month and showcases a more introspective side of the “Tik Tok” performer. Throughout the record, she delves into themes of mental health and past romantic relationships. Additionally, her ongoing legal battle with ex-collaborator Lukasz “Dr. Luke” Gottwald seems to be alluded to in the lyrics. Kesha first filed a lawsuit against the producer in 2014, alleging sexual, emotional, and physical abuse. Although her claims were dismissed in 2016, Dr. Luke’s defamation suit against her is set to go to trial this summer, despite multiple appeals.

In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, Kesha described the new album as “the most intimate thing I’ve ever created.” She revealed that she explored her deeper emotions and vulnerable aspects of herself, including anger, insecurity, anxiety, grief, pain, and regret. Despite the nerve-wracking process, Kesha found the experience to be healing.

For fans eager to secure their spots at the Gag Order Tour, presale tickets will be available on Wednesday at 10 a.m. local time, followed by the general sale on Friday at 10 a.m. local time. Detailed information can be found on Kesha’s official website.

Kesha’s Gag Order Tour promises to be an incredible journey through her latest musical creations. With her powerful vocals and heartfelt lyrics, she continues to captivate audiences worldwide. Fans of Kesha’s unique style and meaningful artistry should mark their calendars and seize the opportunity to witness her electrifying performances on this highly anticipated tour.

Kesha Announces 20-City Tour in Support of Vulnerable New Album 'Gag Order': 'Who's Turning Up?'

"We gonna burn the house down," wrote the musician alongside the announcement for the tour, set to go down this fall

Vince Haycock

The party's starting —  Kesha 's going on tour!

On Tuesday, the Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter announced a 20-city North American tour in support of her new album Gag Order , set to go down this fall with special guest Jake Wesley Rogers.

"GAG ORDER TOUR. WHO'S TURNING UP?" wrote Kesha, 36, alongside the tour's announcement on Instagram. She also took to the comments section underneath the post, writing, "We gonna burn the house down bby."

Kicking off Oct. 15 in Dallas, the Gag Order Tour will hit venues throughout North America including New Orleans, Atlanta, Nashville, Philadelphia, Boston, New York City, Toronto, Detroit and Chicago before wrapping on Nov. 18 in Los Angeles.

Presale tickets become available on Wednesday at 10 a.m. local time before the general sale opens to all fans on Friday at 10 a.m. local time. More information is available at Kesha's website .

Released earlier this month,  Gag Order  finds the "Tik Tok" performer in an especially introspective space, as she sings about mental health and past romantic relationships. Throughout the record, she also seems to allude to her ongoing legal battle with ex-collaborator  Lukasz "Dr. Luke" Gottwald .

Kesha first sued the producer in 2014 for sexual, emotional and physical abuse, and he filed a countersuit the same year. Her claims were dismissed by a judge in 2016, but  his defamation suit  against her is set to go to trial this summer — despite multiple appeals.

In a recent interview with Rolling Stone , she referred to the new album as "the most intimate thing I've ever created."

"I really dug into some of my uglier emotions and sides of myself that are less fun," Kesha told the outlet. "It's scary being vulnerable. The fact that I have compiled an entire record of these emotions, of anger, of insecurity, of anxiety, of grief, of pain, of regret, all of that is so nerve-racking — but it's also so healing."

The Only Love Tour , formerly The Gag Order Tour , is the sixth headlining tour by Kesha . The tour embarked on October 15, 2023 in Dallas, TX with Jake Wesley Rogers as the supporting act for the majority of the tour. Pre-sale for the tour begun on May 31 and ended on June 1, 2023. [1] After high demand, two more shows in New York and Nashville were added. [2]

Background [ ]

Since 2014, Kesha has been involved in a legal battle against her former producer and longtime collaborator Dr. Luke . This legal dispute has put her career on hold. She released her final album under RCA Records and the Dr. Luke owned Kemosabe Records , Gag Order on May 19, 2023. The record saw Kesha dive into her more vulnerable side, as well as alluding to the lawsuit for the first time in her music. In June 2023, Kesha and Dr. Luke released a joint statement saying they have reached a settlement, about a month before the case was to go to trial.

Kesha described the tour to be a combination of joy, celebration, and moments of extreme, raw, vulnerability. The tour will also see performances of songs from her fourth album, High Road , as the coronavirus pandemic prevented Kesha from fully touring that album. Kesha also brought up the possibility of performing songs she isn't fond of. "There are definitely some songs that are not my favorites," she said to People magazine, "but I feel like I don't want to tell my fans that because if it's their number-one most favorite song, I don't want to kill the vibe. I also am open to, on this tour, playing some of the songs that are maybe not my favorites and creating new memories around them." [3]

On September 14, 2023, Kesha announced she has changed the name of the tour to "The Only Love Tour", making this the first tour of Kesha's to have been renamed after being announced. The new name is named after the single, " Only Love Can Save Us Now ".

Stage Set Up [ ]

The stage set up consists of three circular platforms, a drum set on the left, and a keyboard on the right. The backdrop is a curtain that different colored lights are projected on, and there are five other vertical curtains that span across the stage and are raised and lowered to hide the instruments depending on the song.

Concert Synopsis [ ]

Kesha's set for the Only Love Tour typically runs for an hour and fifteen minutes. The setlist consists of select songs from Gag Order as well as her biggest hits. Kesha performs with Nicholas Annis on guitar and keyboard, Elias Mallin on drums, and Derek Tabada and Logan Schyvynck as her dancers.

Kesha opens with "Only Love Can Save Us Now" as the only person on the stage. The band and dancers join her starting with "TiK ToK", which begins with lights surrounding her flashing clockwise. During "Raising Hell", Kesha wears a nun's hat and a cross. During "Take It Off", Kesha collects clothing items fans throw on stage. For some songs, like "Take It Off" and "Peace and Quiet," Kesha sings with a vocoder. During "Eat The Acid", Kesha recreates the sitting choreography from her VEVO Studio performance. During "Timber", one dancer wears a cowboy hat and lassos the other, wearing an animal mask. Kesha and her dancers perform a traditional line dance. During "Blow", giant inflatable balls are thrown into the audience for fans to toss around. During "We R Who We R", Kesha will occasionally bring drag performers on stage to perform with her. At the end of her Halloween show in Philadelphia, Kesha recreated the scene from Carrie in which buckets of "blood" were poured on her.

Unlike previous tours, there is no glitter or confetti canons.

Kesha 'Gag Order' Tour 2023 Dates Announced: Venues, Tickets, More Details!

Kesha

We won't stop talking about Kesha's upcoming North American tour in support of her new album, "Gag Order."

The album came as the pop star's trial against Dr. Luke looms in the Summer of 2023. Kesha has accused the producer of sexual, physical, and emotional abuse; which he denied.

The new album title is actually a witty ode to the fact that she could not talk extensively about the lawsuit, hence, the gag order.

"I feel as if there has been an implied gag order for a very long time now," she told Rolling Stone . "With my ongoing litigation hanging over my head, I have not been able to speak freely because I know everything I say is scrutinized."

The album, "Gag Order" was already released on May 19, 2023.

Official Platinum Presale

An  Official Platinum presale  will also begin Wednesday, May 31st at 10am local time.  You do not need a presale code to take part in this presale , but expect the ticket prices to be higher. Get more details on Official Platinum tickets below.

P romoter Presale

A Live Nation promoter presale will take place on Thursday, June 1st at 10am local time.  Select the city you want to see Kesha  and use the following presale code at check out:  DISCO.

What Are Those Official Platinum Tickets?

If you’re seeing very expensive tickets that are not VIP, those are official platinum tickets. These tickets are very expensive and are offered well over the standard ticket prices. They’re the kind of ticket pricing that is unfair to fans. The Event Organizer(s) has priced these tickets according to their market value (aka dynamic pricing). In other words, ticket pricing can go up or down, and it usually goes up.

Artists can choose not to offer Official Platinum or limit the amount for charity purposes. The Cure , Pearl Jam and U2 have all been recognized as artists that don’t use these dynamic pricing tactics.

Official platinum tickets do not include VIP packages. The only positive thing about them is they make buying floor or front-row tickets to a high-demand concert very easy if you’re willing to shed the extra coin. They can be bought during a presale without a presale code (doesn’t always apply to Verified Fan). Availability and pricing for official platinum tickets are subject to change based on demand.

If money is not an object, you should definitely bank on the convenience of getting Official Platinum tickets.

Pro Tips When Buying Your Tickets

First, on the day of the presale or general onsale (whichever you prefer), login to your Ticketmaster account ( go to my account or sign in located on the upper right corner of the page ) at least 15 minutes ahead of the sale time. If you don’t have one,  create one now .

Be sure to add your billing info (aka credit card info) before jumping into the digital queue for a quick check-out. Once the presale starts, remain in the digital queue. Only use one browser window because using multiple browsers or devices and multiple accounts with the same phone number can result in errors. Trust, it’s happened to us before! Don’t refresh your page, do be patient, don’t leave your page, do get those tickets!

What To Do If Tickets Are Sold Out?

If tickets sell out, your other option is to buy them via online resellers like VividSeats or StubHub. When all else fails, we prefer these resell options because both offer a 100% Guarantee. You can also purchase resell tickets through Ticketmaster’s resell program. Just search for the concert or event you want to attend , and see if they have any resell tickets available. We recommend you compare the three options and find out which works best for you.

Alternatively, you can hit it old school style and show up at the concert when the box office opens and wish upon a star that they release more tickets, or hopefully, another concert-goer has an extra ticket to sell at face-value or even giveaway for free. Trust, this happens more often than not! We’ve given away many tickets to sold-out shows simply because our +1 couldn’t make it.

Also, more standard tickets are often released via Ticketmaster 1-3 days leading up to the show date. We’ve seen it with Beyonce , Taylor Swift , Arctic Monkeys and many more! It’s a secret gatekeeped by many, but if you’re reading this, now you know! So be sure to set your calendar notifications!

Kesha Gag Order

By Olivia Horn

Pop/R&B

Kemosabe / RCA

May 18, 2023

Kesha was embattled from the beginning. On her 2009  debut , she played a hard-partying dirtbag and became a glittery avatar of harmless depravity; critics, missing or ignoring her quasi-feminist lampoon of male behavior, wrote her off as an untalented attention-seeker. More recently, Kesha’s biggest fights have played out in courts of law rather than of public opinion, and her foes have been more fearsome. Still, her affect—at least the one she put into music—remained largely unyielding. “I’ve decided all the haters everywhere can suck my dick,” she declared on 2017’s “Let ’Em Talk,” a cut from the first album she released after unsuccessfully suing Dr. Luke, her former producer and mentor, over allegations of sexual and emotional abuse in 2014.

That album,  Rainbow , was notably vague in its references to Kesha’s legal predicament; its core message is one of self-love and self-determination, haters (and unsympathetic judges) be damned. But in opting to “just let ’em talk,” Kesha invited the question of what she herself was withholding—a question that is bolded and underlined by the title of her fifth album,  Gag Order.  Kesha’s claims against Dr. Luke have been  dropped or  dismissed , and his countersuit for defamation is set to go to trial in July. “There’s so many things I said that I wish I left unsaid,” she sings on one new song. Speaking out has never seemed so perilous.

And so the Kesha of  Gag Order is changed—still working in bold, chaotic gestures, but with the color drained from her palette. The survivor’s vim of  Rainbow  and youthful bacchanalia of its successor, 2020’s  High Road , are gone; this Kesha is feeling her age, processing her trauma, relinquishing hope and then digging deeper in search of some more. “Only Love Can Save Us Now,” an anomaly, starts off with a glimmer of bygone times, with Kesha brat-rapping over a gimmicky cash register beat. But the first verse ends with a coffin-nailing declaration that reverberates across the record: “The bitch I was, she dead, her grave desecrated.” Tonally and spiritually,  Gag Order recalls another album made by a pop star in the wake of a high-profile conflict with a powerful industry antagonist. The old Kesha  can’t come to the phone right now , etc.

The production of this record—which Kesha made with  Rick Rubin and various returning collaborators including her mom, songwriter Pebe Sebert—trends dark and stormy, powered by rumbling synths that sound like tornado sirens, or like a  sandworm is lurking somewhere nearby. Played through the right set of speakers, the bleak and faithless opener “Something to Believe In” hits the chest harder than it hits the ears. This music shudders and roils; the way it lingers in the body feels potent on an album loaded with allusions to foundational trauma (though, per its title, much remains between the lines). “You don’t wanna be changed like it changed me,” is Kesha’s refrain on “Eat the Acid,” a song held together by an ominous drone. The lyric echoes a warning, once offered to Kesha by Pebe, about the risk of taking LSD: The mind can be expanded to the point of rupture. But innocence can be lost in more ways than one, and Kesha is certainly missing hers: “I remember when I was little/Before I knew that anyone could be evil,” she sings wistfully on “Happy.”

It feels like part of what Kesha is giving up is an idea she’s always championed: that pop music is galvanizing, collectively validating, full of the promise of the night and the dancefloor. On  Gag Order , “we” dissolves into “I.” The beats, when present at all, tend to sink and trudge like stilettos in mud; nothing begs to be played on the radio or at a party (the bouncy “Peace & Quiet” comes closest). But the overall maturation of the work brings welcome changes. Kesha’s lyrics, as subtle as a hammer, feel more startlingly raw than lazily underwritten. Her voice, which she has often wielded like a blunt instrument, is used more delicately, smudged through filters and applied in rich, textural layers, in the mold of singers like  Feist or  Fiona Apple .

Even passing familiarity with Kesha’s previous work is enough context to make all these shifts jarring, and she leans hard into that sense of disruption, pushing it to the limit with her more eccentric choices. “The Drama” takes a haunted carnival ride through a demented key change before arriving at an outro, co-written with  Kurt Vile , that sounds like a vintage pet food jingle spliced with a  Ramones interpolation—which is to say, like psychosis. Kesha incorporates a number of spoken interludes: The mystic and cult leader Osho, the neo-pagan priest Oberon Zell, and the New Age philosopher Ram Dass are among the voices heard across the record, holding forth on cycles of grief and healing and the triumph of love. In Rubin—as much a guru as he is a producer—Kesha’s found a collaborator willing to indulge her spiritualist tangents. But neither the ideas nor the audio clips feel fully integrated into a broader theme of the album.

Her ambivalence is more potent. On “Hate Me Harder,” the record’s inevitable power ballad, Kesha is once again sticking it to the haters, but now her message is flecked with masochism. With its gradual crescendo and insistent pulse, the song sounds like it’s heading towards a rousing final chorus, but instead ends a cappella, a calculated retreat rather than a full-throated triumph. “Fine Line” scrutinizes the high-wire act of celebrity and all its treacherous binaries. “Don’t fucking call me a fighter,” Kesha snarls, flinching at the empowerment language she herself  has used . It’s not that the label’s inaccurate; it’s that it reinforces an unfair expectation of strength.

“Fine Line” ends with something like a thesis statement: “There’s a fine line between what’s entertaining and what’s just exploiting the pain/But hey, look at all the money we made off me.” It’s a line that collects all the demoralizing losses and pyrrhic victories of the past decade of her life and centers not the story but its protagonist, who—despite this record’s sonic mutations and the declaration of her own death—remains recognizably herself. Kesha, as ever, dares us to call her too loud, too messy, or too much.

Judge Imposes Gag Order on Trump in Manhattan Criminal Trial

The order limiting the former president’s speech came after Justice Juan M. Merchan set an April 15 trial date for the case, which involves a sex scandal cover-up.

  • Share full article

Donald Trump appears in a courtroom, flanked by men in suits.

By Ben Protess and William K. Rashbaum

The New York judge presiding over one of Donald J. Trump’s criminal trials imposed a gag order on Tuesday that prohibits him from attacking witnesses, prosecutors and jurors, the latest effort to rein in the former president’s wrathful rhetoric about his legal opponents.

The judge, Juan M. Merchan, imposed the order at the request of the Manhattan district attorney’s office, which brought the case against Mr. Trump. The district attorney, Alvin L. Bragg, has accused Mr. Trump of covering up a potential sex scandal during and after his 2016 campaign.

The ruling comes on the heels of Justice Merchan’s setting an April 15 trial date, rejecting Mr. Trump’s latest effort to delay the proceeding while he seeks to reclaim the White House. It will mark the first prosecution of a former American president, and it might be the only one of Mr. Trump’s criminal cases to go to trial before voters head to the polls in November.

Under the judge’s order, Mr. Trump cannot make, or direct others to make, statements about witnesses’ roles in the case. Mr. Trump is also barred from commenting on prosecutors, court staff and their relatives if he intends to interfere with their work on the case. Any comments whatsoever about jurors are banned as well, the judge ruled, citing an array of hostile remarks Mr. Trump has made about grand jurors, prosecutors and others.

“His statements were threatening, inflammatory, denigrating,” Justice Merchan wrote in the Tuesday order.

There is one notable exception to the gag order: Mr. Trump is not prohibited from attacking Mr. Bragg, who has received numerous death threats in recent months. Mr. Bragg voluntarily carved himself out of the order; in other Trump cases, prosecutors are also left out of the gag orders.

Although Justice Merchan did not specify how he might enforce the narrowly tailored order, judges typically impose fines. In extraordinary circumstances, they can send someone to jail, though that seems unlikely in this case.

The gag order, along with Justice Merchan’s other recent ruling protecting the identities of potential jurors in the case, reflects the volatile atmosphere that has swirled around Mr. Trump’s four criminal cases and several civil trials.

The order hewed closely to the terms of one in another of Mr. Trump’s criminal cases that was upheld by a federal appeals court in Washington, which wrote that “Mr. Trump’s documented pattern of speech and its demonstrated real-time, real-world consequences pose a significant and imminent threat.”

And in seeking the order last month, Mr. Bragg’s prosecutors highlighted Mr. Trump’s “longstanding history of attacking witnesses, investigators, prosecutors, judges, and others involved in legal proceedings against him” — comments that the judge seized on in his ruling.

Mr. Trump, for example, has taken aim at Michael D. Cohen, his onetime fixer and one of Mr. Bragg’s central witnesses, calling him a “liar” and a “rat.” And in a rambling and angry post on his social media site on Tuesday, Mr. Trump made an ominous reference to Mr. Cohen, claiming without explanation that his former fixer was “death.” He also referred to one of Mr. Bragg’s prosecutors in pejorative terms.

Both comments would now arguably violate the gag order. On Tuesday, Mr. Cohen issued a statement thanking the judge for issuing the order.

In another post, Mr. Trump took aim at Justice Merchan and his family, claiming that the judge “hates me,” though those comments do not appear to cross the line the judge has now set.

In Mr. Trump’s other cases, the heated rhetoric has preceded violent threats. After Mr. Trump recently lost his civil fraud case in New York, which was brought by the state attorney general, envelopes of white powder were sent to both the attorney general’s office and the judge who had overseen the case. The judge, Arthur F. Engoron, was also the victim of a hoax bomb threat at his home.

Mr. Trump, who called Justice Engoron a “nut job,” has also targeted the prosecutors in all his criminal cases, falsely accusing them of working in concert with President Biden. He called Mr. Bragg, a Democrat who is Black, a “racist.”

Mr. Trump’s lawyers had opposed the order in the Manhattan case, arguing that it “would be unconstitutional and unlawful to impose a prior restraint on President Trump’s First Amendment speech.”

A spokesman for Mr. Trump’s campaign, Steven Cheung, echoed that claim on Tuesday, calling the order unconstitutional and saying that it prevents the former president “from engaging in core political speech, which is entitled to the highest level of protection under the First Amendment.”

Mr. Cheung also said that “American voters have a fundamental right to hear the uncensored voice of the leading candidate for the highest office in the land.”

Justice Merchan is just the latest judge to impose a gag order on the former president.

In addition to the order in the Washington criminal case, which involves accusations that Mr. Trump plotted to overturn the 2020 election, Mr. Trump was ordered not to comment on court staff members in the civil fraud case after he attacked Justice Engoron’s principal law clerk. Justice Engoron imposed $15,000 in fines on the former president when he ran afoul of that order.

Ultimately, the judge ruled in favor of the attorney general, inflicting a more than $450 million judgment on Mr. Trump.

In the Manhattan criminal case, Mr. Trump faces up to four years in prison. The case stems from a hush-money payment that Mr. Cohen made — to a porn star looking to sell her story of a sexual encounter with Mr. Trump — during the 2016 campaign. After he was elected, Mr. Trump helped falsify business records related to his reimbursement of Mr. Cohen, according to prosecutors, further covering up the scandal from voters.

After Mr. Bragg filed the case last year, Justice Merchan initially stopped short of adopting a gag order, while instructing Mr. Trump to refrain from making statements “likely to incite violence or civil unrest.” But since then, Mr. Trump has continued to attack witnesses and prosecutors, prompting Mr. Bragg to seek a more formal order.

Separately, the judge’s recent order protecting prospective jurors in the case effectively barred Mr. Trump from exposing their identities, emphasizing a need to protect those who might decide the highly sensitive case.

The judge also ordered that their addresses be kept secret from everyone except the lawyers in the case, a measure that Mr. Trump’s legal team did not oppose.

In an unrelated order Tuesday, Justice Merchan issued a stern warning to Mr. Trump’s lawyers as well. He reminded them to behave professionally, or risk being held in contempt.

“This court emphasizes that it hopes for and fully expects zealous advocacy from counsel as well as spirited contribution from witnesses and parties alike,” Justice Merchan wrote. “Nonetheless, the court expects that the line between zealous advocacy and willful disregard of its orders will not be crossed.”

Our Coverage of the Trump Hush-Money Case

The manhattan district attorney has filed charges against former president donald trump over a hush-money payment to a porn star on the eve of the 2016 election..

Taking the Case to Trial: Trump is all but certain to become the first former U.S. president to stand trial on criminal charges after a judge denied his effort to delay the proceeding and confirmed it will begin on April 15 .

Implications for Trump: As the case goes to trial, the former president’s inner circle sees a silver lining in the timing. But Trump wouldn’t be able to pardon himself  should he become president again as he could if found guilty in the federal cases against him.

Michael Cohen: Trump’s former fixer was not an essential witness in the former president’s civil fraud trial in New York  that concluded in January. But he will be when he takes the stand in the hush-money case .

Stormy Daniels: The chain of events flowing from a 2006 encounter that the adult film star said she had with Trump has led to the brink of a historic trial. Here's a look inside the hush-money payout .
