Tour Edge Bazooka Set

Any beginning-to-slightly-experienced golfer will be more than happy with this premium-looking set. We get it: You don’t want to spend a fortune until you better learn the game and this is an ideal solution that a blossoming golfer can stick with for a few years.

Tour Edge is known for the great value it offers golfers with its clubs. This set won’t disappoint, giving surprising performance, nice looks, and solid feel at an excellent price.

Ball flight could be slightly higher across the irons. The mid-irons’ shaft flex feels a little bit stiff.

Why you can trust Golf Monthly Our expert reviewers spend hours testing and comparing products and services so you can choose the best for you. Find out more about how we test .

Scott Kramer

The Tour Edge Bazooka 270 Package Set includes a forgiving, 10.5-degree 460cc driver with a high moment of inertia (MOI) that yields long and consistent tee shots.

Also in the bag: An oversized, low profile steel 3-wood that’s surprisingly easy to hit off the turf; a low center of gravity 4-hybrid; oversized steel cavity back irons (5-iron through SW) that are forgiving; and a high MOI, heel-toe weighted putter with an alignment aid on top.

The woods and hybrid come with headcovers, and the nice-looking lightweight dual strap, six-way, four-pocket stand bag comes with a rain hood.

The short irons and wedges are pretty fantastic. Ball flight will be nice and high, as well as fairly straight.

Full swings produce excellent distance and generate adequate backspin. A small boy walked by during our wedge testing on the range and was wowing loudly over how “super high” the shots were going. That should be proof enough that these clubs do what they intend.

Tour Edge Bazooka

However, you start experiencing fall-off as you go to the longer irons. You notice that the ball flight is lower and less forgiving than it typically would be from a premium club.

The feel of the 5- and 6-iron is just okay, and the 110-gram uniflex steel shafts feel slightly stiff. That said, if you’re the target player for this set, you probably don’t have a benchmark to work with -- and you will think these are outstanding.

Tour Edge Bazooka

The woods are interesting. They have 75-gram, mid-launch graphite shafts, so you can step into them and get some decent distance. And they’re extremely loud at impact -- head-turners, really.

Ball flight is easy to get nice and high. And all of this will please less-skilled golfers, who will gain confidence as they hit louder shots that sound powerful and gain trajectory.

Tour Edge Bazooka

The putter looks awesome, especially as you stand over the ball. And it has nice weighting, which helps feel. But putts feel a little tinny at impact, generating a high-pitched impact sound. But the face is pretty lively and squares nicely to your target.

Tour Edge 2020 Bazooka 270 Full Set Review

Tour edge 2020 bazooka 270 full set review 2020.

tour edge bazooka driver 270cc

Whether you are just starting out with the game of golf or are an intermediate player, you already know that this game has a steep learning curve. First and foremost, you have to get your swing in order. Then you might focus on your short game.

And over time, you will start to get familiar with the gear. But the gear itself represents a stumbling block for a lot of new players. That’s because when you are first starting out, it can be really difficult to determine which golf balls, gloves and clubs are right for you.

So on top of all the technical aspects of the game, you need to also know which types of clubs suit your game. So to that end, we thought we’d help out some of you newcomers to the game as well as the intermediates out there.

Today we are going to be taking a good look at a quality set of clubs that we feel would be best suited to players who may still be trying to shape their game. Take a look at our review of the Tour Edge Bazooka 270 golf club set.

What You Get With The Set

While Tour Edge has done a great job of creating a well-rounded set of clubs with the Bazooka 270’s, what you stand to gain the most from this set is confidence off the tee and on the fairway. The driver is forgiving and it comes with oversized irons so you get the distance you desperately need as a newbie.

But initial confidence isn’t the only benefit to this particular set of clubs. As your game evolves, this Tour Edge set will help you flesh it out and refine your play. Let’s get into the details of the clubs so you can see what we mean.

tour edge bazooka driver 270cc

The driver in the Tour Edge Bazooka 270 set features a 460cc club head which is a great size for beginners and vets. Its high moment of inertia rating helps neophytes minimize flex which can misinform a lot of drives.

It features a 10.5 degree loft which isn’t the highest but the design of the club head focuses more on getting lower trajectory and piercing drives that translate to solid distance off the tee.

tour edge bazooka driver 270cc

You get #3 fairway wood in the Tour Edge Bazooka 270 set which is outfitted to 16 degrees of loft. Now, unlike the driver, this is plenty to help get players over trees, bunkers or any other hazards standing in their way.

The fairway wood head is oversized with a low center of gravity which makes it much easier for players to get the ball high in the air and start building good shot mechanics.

tour edge bazooka driver 270cc

We were really impressed with the #4 hybrid included in the Tour Edge Bazooka 270 set. You don’t usually get good quality hybrids like this in sets of this price range. The hybrid has a lower, rear center of gravity which allows for great pop and stop capability on the fairway and approaches.

It is set to 24 degrees of loft and features a low profile design so it is very easy to hit with overall.

tour edge bazooka driver 270cc

As we mentioned earlier, the irons in the Tour Edge Bazooka 270 set feature oversized heads which make them a touch less wieldy but more forgiving in terms of distance overall.

You get 5-9 irons in this set. The 5 iron is set to 27 degrees of loft, the 6 iron is set to 30 degrees, the 7 iron is set to 34, the 8 iron is set to 38 and the 9 iron is set to 42.

You get a pitching wedge and a sand wedge from the Tour Edge Bazooka 270’s. They are set to 46 and 55 degrees of loft respectively. Overall we would say that the wedges are weighted perfectly for beginner/intermediate players who are more concerned with getting out of a tricky situation.

tour edge bazooka driver 270cc

The putter also has a high moment of inertia rating which makes for accurate putting. You can really learn how to hold a line with this putter and develop an uninterrupted follow-through with minimal flex and deviation.  It is heel-toe weighted and features a clear alignment guide for effective aiming.

Club Composition

The driver features a lightweight graphite shaft and oversized stainless steel head. The 3 wood also features a wieldy graphite shaft with a low profile club head. The hybrid also features a low-profile head design but a steel shaft.

The irons are all made of stainless steel for minimal flex and optimal distance. The putter is also stainless steel with a heel-toe weighted head.

Club Options

The Tour Edge Bazooka 270 was designed for a very specific type of player so you only get a few options here. For example they only come in right-hand orientation and are only available in uniflex. You get graphite and steel as options for the shafts.

Club Length

The Tour Edge Bazooka 270 set comes in standard length. For example, the driver is 44.5 inches long, the 9 iron is 35.75 inches long, the hybrid is 38 inches long and the putter is 35 inches long. We would say that these clubs would fit men between 5’6” and 6’1”.

Pros & Cons Of The Bazooka Tour Edge 270

Tour Edge Bazooka 270 Golf Club Set Review 2023

tour edge bazooka driver 270cc

For new players who are reluctant to spend a ton of money on a complete golf set, we hear you.

It’s entirely prudent to hold off on buying an expensive set until you learn the game a bit better.

That’s why today we will be covering the user-friendly Tour Edge Bazooka 270 golf club set.

Tour Edge Bazooka 270

tour edge bazooka driver 270cc

The Tour Edge Bazooka 270 has premium looks and a forgiveness factor that will make the game easier to learn.

And that’s saying quite a bit because golf has a notoriously high learning curve. For the Tour Edge Bazooka 270 set, Tour Edge stuck with a pretty simple formula: bigger clubs are easier to hit with.

After testing this set for ourselves, we must say that we really appreciate this approach. There is nothing fancy about these clubs but beginners will marvel at the effortless distance they get from the tee and the ease of use of the irons.

Perhaps more than anything, our high handicap testers appreciated how easy the oversized irons were to hit with. And “Bazooka” is an apt moniker for these clubs. The driver and fairway wood included in the set explode off the tee and the turf.

As you might expect from a game-improvement set of clubs, there is a severe lack of workability in almost all the irons in this set. Launch could be higher in the longer irons as well.

However, if you are a true beginner, you will not notice these downsides. After testing, we also felt that this is the kind of set that you can keep using longer than most game-improvement/beginner golf club sets. Read on to find out why.

Tour Edge Bazooka 270 Golf Club Set

Category: Beginners/Game Improvement

Tour Edge Bazooka 270 – What’s in the Bag?

tour edge bazooka driver 270cc

The Tour Edge Bazooka 270 set has every club you need including:

Driver, #3 fairway wood, #4 hybrid, irons 5-9, pitching wedge, sand wedge, putter and a dual strap stand bag.

Tour Edge Bazooka 270 – First Impressions & Club Breakdowns

tour edge bazooka driver 270cc

The first thing that struck us about the Tour Edge Bazooka 270 set was the size of the clubs. From the driver to the irons, these clubs look large, generous and beginner-friendly.

And for the most part we were right. While the size of the heads of these clubs comes to work against the usability of the set as you get to the longer irons, they are nothing if not forgiving.

For the most part you will be able to score the entire set for about $400 which is a steal considering the clubs that are included.

The first thing you will notice about the 460CC driver is that it is loud. It plays long and launch is pretty decent thanks to the low CG. But if you are the kind of player who gains confidence from hearing a loud impact from your driver, you will be very pleased with this one.

The Tour Edge Bazooka 270 set includes a number 3 fairway wood outfitted with a 75-gram graphite shaft. What we really liked about this fairway wood is that the shaft allows you to really step into your shots. It also interacts with the turf surprisingly smoothly.

The #4 hybrid in this set has a low CG and low profile head. Much easier to hit than a 4 iron, this hybrid still plays about as long. Launch angles are relatively low but the important thing is that it will help players get down the fairway quickly.

Irons 5-9 are included in the Tour Edge Bazooka 270 set. The first thing you will notice is the sheer length of the blades. These are big irons that require little accuracy to hit with. They have cavity backs and an undercut cavity to increase ball speed on low-face strikes.

The wedges were pretty impressive overall. They launch very high almost effortlessly and you get near-automatic backspin from them. Also, the weight of the heads are balanced just so to produce straighter shots.

The putter in this set has a premium look but produces a somewhat thin sound. Despite the sound though, it has a clear alignment marker and is heel to toe weighted, producing good balance and high MOI.

Both the woods in this set are fitted with 75 gram graphite mid-launch shafts. The hybrid, irons, wedges and putter all have steel shafts.

“The launch angles in the long irons could be better. The choice to fit the hybrid with a steel shaft was also an interesting and slightly dubious move for a beginner’s set. Still, the forgiveness and distance are there and short-game performance was surprisingly above-average.”

Tour Edge Bazooka 270 Selling Points

  • Oversized woods
  • Oversized irons
  • Includes rain hood
  • Three head covers for the woods and hybrid
  • Good distance throughout the set
  • High-launching wedges

Tour Edge Bazooka 270 Cons

  • Low-launching long irons
  • A graphite shafted hybrid would probably be better for beginners
  • The Uniflex steel shafts in the irons are a bit stiff
  • The long irons are a bit heavy

Who is the Tour Edge Bazooka 270 Set for?

tour edge bazooka driver 270cc

The Tour Edge Bazooka 270 set would be a great set for anyone just getting into the game.

And if you are looking to the future, we think this set will also provide playing value as your game progresses. By no means will this be the set you play in club tournaments; but it will make learning the game a bit easier.

We think the main fault that this set has is in the long irons. Long irons are very difficult to use in the first place and the 110 gram steel shafts used for the long irons in this set don’t really make things easier. The heads are forgiving but you will really have to hone your swing to get comfortable with these long irons.

Distance: 94/100

Accuracy: 92/100, forgiveness: 94/100, feel and control: 92/100, value: 95/100.

tour edge bazooka driver 270cc

Our Tour Edge Bazooka 470 Set Review (Worth It in 2024?)

Henry Foster Image

The Tour Edge Bazooka 470 Complete Set is an excellent option for the mid to high handicapper looking for a brand new set of clubs.

You may not be overly familiar with the Tour Edge brand, but their Bazooka line of golf clubs has become very popular.

In this Tour Edge Bazooka review, we will explain exactly what you get with the Tour Edge Bazooka 470 set and a few alternatives if this is not the best pick for your golf game.

Tour Edge Bazooka 470 Set Review

What’s Included In The Set: Driver, 3 Wood, 5 Wood, 4 & 5 Hybrid, 6-SW, Putter, Stand Bag

Features And Benefits

Player Handicap

One of the biggest problems you will run into when looking for a complete club set is the fact that they are all made for beginner golfers .

One of the things we love most about this particular Bazooka Golf Club set is that it will work for a beginner golfer all the way to a middle handicapper .

The Bazooka Tour Edge 470 has a really great set makeup with a mix of fairways and hybrids that will have you set with all the golf clubs you will ever need to excel in this game.

Some may eventually add in a lob wedge , but you are undoubtedly fine to get by without it for a while.

Shaft Options

The Bazooka Golf Clubs do not have any customizable shafts or shaft options. The woods are going to have graphite shafts, and the irons will have a stainless steel shaft in them.

Some Bazooka sets do give you the option for graphite in the irons as well, but this will change the price slightly. You will also get a cart bag with the graphite shaft irons, with the steel shafts you get a stand bag.

The flex is going to be a uniflex shaft that will feel very close to a regular stainless steel golf shaft.

Look/Sound/Feel

Beginners golf clubs are known for being forgiving and relatively long , but they don’t always have a great feel. This is not the case with the Tour Edge Bazooka. These clubs feel like a traditional cavity back set of irons . If you want to hit a draw or a fade, you can.

The clubs themselves are easy to hit, but they have a great look to them. Combine that with the styling and design of the stand bag, and you will not just be ready to golf, but you will look like a golfer!

Forgiveness

The sweet spot on the 460 cc driver is quite large. Even if you miss the center of the clubface on the driver, you will get plenty of distance with this golf club. The irons have a very low center of gravity with a wide sole that makes them easy to hit.

Even the three and five wood have a slightly offset design to help you get the ball headed straight down the middle of the fairway.

As far as weighting is concerned, the set is a little bit light . If you have a very fast swing speed or are extremely strong, you may want to look into a club set with even more durable stainless steel shafts than these.

Considering this is a full club set with highly forgiving clubs, including fairway woods and hybrids , the price is pretty incredible.

You will have a hard time finding a better deal than this for the quality that you get with the Tour Edge Bazooka set.

Pros and Cons of The Tour Edge Bazooka 470

The Tour Edge Bazooka 470 golf set has both positives and negatives. Like any golf product, you can’t expect that the Tour Edge Bazooka will be the perfect fit for all players. When we look at the Tour Edge set there are more positives than negatives. Before you make your final purchase consider some of these positives and negatives.

  • Great set makeup
  • Comes with two fairway woods
  • Has two hybrid clubs included in the set
  • Large 460cc driver head
  • Forgiving golf putter
  • Large golf bag with plenty of storage
  • Total of six irons included
  • Can work for the higher handicapper and beginner or the mid handicapper
  • Not a great option for the high swing speed player
  • Clubs do not have as much longevity as a premium golf set from Tour Edge or another brand

Frequently Asked Questions

Many golfers wonder if the Tour Edge Bazooka 470 could be a good fit for their game. There are many complete set options like this Tour Edge on the market and it can take some time and dedication to narrow down which are the best for your needs. Let’s take a look at a few of the questions golfers have about the Tour Edge Bazooka 470 and the Tour Edge brand in general.

Who Should Play With The Tour Edge Bazooka 470?

The Tour Edge Bazooka 470 is the perfect complete set option for a golfer that is new to the game or plays an occasional round and does not want to spend a fortune on a completely new set of golf clubs.

The Bazooka has very fair pricing and the playability of the set is quite good. Golfers will find that they can enjoy forgiveness and feel with the Bazooka and not be restricted because of the set having a small sweet spot or difficult to flex golf shafts.

With the Tour Edge Bazooka, we typically see players in the mid to high handicap range go for this set of clubs. In addition, if you are on a budget but still want some quality and technology the Bazooka 470 could be a great overall choice.

Are The Tour Edge Bazooka 470 Clubs Good?

The Tour Edge Bazooka 470 clubs are good and they are a solid fit for many players looking for an increase in technology for a very fair price. If your golf set is a bit outdated and you need to upgrade everything at once, the Tour Edge Bazooka 470 is a great choice.

Many complete set options from manufacturers use basic technology and they try and release a set of clubs at a low price just to attract the budget shopper. Although the Tour Edge golf clubs are fairly priced, they are also known for being forgiving and having plenty of distance.

We can’t tell you that the Tour Edge will have anywhere near the technology of something like the new TaylorMade Stealth but you are also going to be looking at two completely different price ranges.

Overall the technology featured in the Tour Edge Bazooka 470 makes them a very good choice for a large group of golfers.

Is Tour Edge A Good Golf Brand?

Tour Edge is a good golf brand but it may not be as well known as other golf brands. The Tour Edge company focuses on fairly priced golf equipment for the average player. There is a division of this company that will also work with players who are looking to try and perfect their game and lower scores, but that is a smaller division and those are the Tour Edge Exotics.

The Tour Edge brand does not advertise nearly as much as other golf manufacturers and that is partly why some golfers wonder if the products are good. If you are not being shown all of the latest releases from a company you may wonder what the reasoning is behind this.

The good thing about seeing less advertising from a brand is that their marketing expenses are lower and the overall product prices may also be lower.

Are Tour Edge Clubs Forgiving?

The Tour Edge golf clubs, especially those in the Bazooka 470 set are very forgiving. The clubs are perimeter weighed cavity back irons. In addition, the fairway woods have large sweet spots and the hybrids have a bit of extra weight to help them pull through the rough to hit a great shot.

With the shafts in the Tour Edge golf clubs, there is also quite a bit of forgiveness and high launch that golfers will see. If you struggle to get the ball up high enough or have a problem with dispersion, the Tour Edge golf clubs could be a perfect fit for your needs.

Why Are Tour Edge Golf Clubs Less Expensive?

Tour Edge golf clubs are less expensive because they have different marketing and business strategies and try to appeal to the golfer that is on a budget. If you are one of these players the Tour Edge brand is good to consider.

In addition, if you are looking for individual clubs that are not part of the Tour Edge Bazooka set you may be able to get them custom ordered through the Tour Edge website for a very fair price. Many golfers need custom-fit golf clubs and this requires you to purchase something brand new from a top manufacturer.

Luckily Tour Edge also allows for custom fit golf clubs but the price point is considerably lower. Most golfers can get irons for a little less than $100 an iron which is something that we typically don’t see from custom golf clubs.

The fact that Tour Edge golf clubs are slightly less expensive should not be something that keeps you from purchasing this brand. The lower price has nothing to do with the overall quality of the product.

Alternatives

If the Bazooka 470 isn’t for you, there are other options out there.

These three are the most closely related to the golfer that would be interested in the Tour Edge Bazooka.

Tour Edge Bazooka 370

tour edge bazooka driver 270cc

  • Priced lower than the Bazooka 470
  • Good set makeup for a beginner
  • Lightweight bag
  • Shafts are not quite as strong as 470
  • Better suited for beginner

The Tour Edge Bazooka 370 is the little brother to the 470. This set will be a bit more forgiving and have a more oversized clubhead design.

If you are a newer golfer and like the complete option that the 470 gives but are not sure you want to spend as much money, the 370 makes a great choice.

These clubs have a very thin face , which will help you get a little more distance than the clubs you are currently playing with. This set includes a Driver , 3 & 5 wood , 4 Hybrid , 5-SW , and a putter .

So the set makeup is similar to the Tour Edge Bazooka 470, except you get one more iron and one less hybrid. It still comes with steel shafts and a lightweight stand bag.

Callaway Strata Tour

tour edge bazooka driver 270cc

  • Price is very fair, similar to Tour Edge
  • Easy to hit clubs
  • Tour model is more for players that have played some golf
  • Not for faster swing speeds

Callaway makes quite a few complete club set options. However, the one that is most similar is the Callaway Strata Tour .

The Tour comes in both a stiff and regular golf shaft , so it is geared for the player that a bit more of an idea as to what their game is capable of.

Just like the Tour Edge Bazooka, the Callaway comes with a 460cc driver and all the clubs necessary to put together a complete easy to hit set.

The Callaway has the name brand behind it, but the player with more experience should look more at the 470 than the Callaway Strata Tour.

Cobra Speed XL

tour edge bazooka driver 270cc

  • Complete set makeup
  • Stainless steel irons
  • Great set for the price
  • More expensive than the 470

Last is the Cobra Speed Complete Set . The Cobra is a bit more of a premium option than the Tour Edge Bazooka, and because of that, you will pay a bit more money for it.

The Cobra Speed will have a complete set makeup with two hybrids and two fairways.

If you are a mid handicap golfer that is looking for a great value with plenty of forgiveness and performance , the Cobra is a great choice. This set will have a better feel than any of the other options in this review.

Hopefully, this Tour Edge Bazooka review helped you learn more about what these clubs can offer your game. Choosing a set of clubs can be difficult.

Some may have a driver you love, but the irons are not right for your game. Another may have great short game tools but terrible long game tools.

The Tour Edge Bazooka is a wonderful option because it gives you a quality product across the long and short game.

The 460cc driver, the stainless steel-shafted irons, and even the forgiving and great feeling putter make this set one of the best values on the market.

TourEdge Bazooka JMax 460cc Carbon Driver Review

The TourEdge Bazooka JMax 460cc Carbon Driver may be the best driver you’ve never heard of. But now you don’t have that excuse anymore, do you?

Touredge Jmax Draw

When you look at the sole of the club – you can easily see the 20-gram black-colored weight chip labeled “TourEdge.” The flowing esthetic design of the sole will be curved and oriented more towards the heel of the club (for the “Draw” version), or in the back middle of the club (for the “Fade” version). The appearance of either sole design is very sleek and subtle.

To get more varied opinions, I solicited fellow Internet golfers to help me participate in the testing, as well as a few local friends. The golfers ranged from low-handicap local mini-tour players, to mid-handicappers, to higher handicappers looking for easy-to-hit clubs. Their comments are included below mixed in with mine, and I hope they present a thorough look at this driver.

Test Model I personally tested a 9° “Fade Bias” model with a shaft labeled “JMax Reactive Flex 63g, 3.5 Torque, mid kick, Stiff flex, 90-100 speed.” This shaft is available in L, A, R, S, and X flexes to fit most any golfer. The grip provided is a Tour Edge “SofTech+” with a very nice textured area where your left thumb would be placed. I immediately liked this grip, as it looked good, and felt great! I don’t know if the textured area by your left thumb was cosmetic or practical, but it felt good!

Touredge Bazooka Shaft

Esthetics This driver has a very serious and purposeful look to it. The top/crown has a subtle carbon fiber mesh that blends seamlessly (and nearly invisibly) with the black paint. At address, the club sits just a tad closed, but not overly so. The face area is enormous, with one of the largest faces I’ve ever seen in a driver – very wide, very deep, with a slight drop-off towards the toe. My first thoughts are that this driver is impossible to mis-hit, as the face just seemed huge! Another thing I noticed was the headcover design for the Driver and 3-wood – they are made with a length-long zipper rather than a “sock” to protect the shaft. I like this design a lot better than the “sock,” which can get distorted and out of shape over time. The TourEdge headcover design is a lot better in my opinion, and they look sharp.

Touredge Bazooka Face

As with all the TourEdge clubs, the sole appears very cleanly designed, with subtle lines and alternating polished/matte finished surfaces. The Jmax shaft is satin silver in color with painted-on specifications. I’ve always liked this feature, as it allows you to see a shaft and immediately know how it should react in your swing. I do wish that the TourEdge shafts had a more dynamic color scheme – there are many shaft graphics that are a little on the wild looking side, but if I’m paying for an upgraded, high quality shaft, I would like some spiffy graphics, and a very “Tour-oriented” look.

Performance The feeling of carbon drivers is very different than steel (remember those?) or all-titanium drivers. This is one of the reasons I like this driver – the return feeling was that of a solid rebound. The feeling is good, but some testers were not used to the different feeling a carbon-headed driver produces vs. an all-titanium driver. All testers echoed the same comments – the feeling was reassuring, with a very distinct carbon fiber sound at impact, with little to no vibration transmitted to your hands. The sound is a little louder than some people are used to but nowhere near as loud as some modern all-titanium drivers. I love the feeling and sound of carbon/titanium drivers, and this one definitely sounds good to me.

Touredge Bazooka Crown

My low-handicap tester was not comfortable with the stock shaft. However – he has a very high (~118 MPH) swingspeed, which is much more suited to an X-flex shaft. His comments were: “With a more aggressive shaft, I would have been able to unload and most likely have better results.” He did like the feel of the driver overall. Other testers seemed to be very comfortable with the stock TourEdge shaft, and some felt the shaft felt a little soft for a “Stiff” flex. Overall, the shaft felt fine. As the shaft is stamped “Fujikura,” my interest was piqued, as I love Fuji shafts, particularly the “Speeder” lineup. It made me wonder which variation of a Fuji shaft this was.

The driver does seem to hit higher than its indicated 9° loft – even mid handicap testers used to 10.5° (or higher) driver heads were achieving nice ballflight trajectories. Ballflight was fairly high but with no ballooning whatsoever – just straight, penetrating drives that nutted through the wind admirably. None of us could determine if this is due to the driver head itself, the shaft, or the combination of head/shaft. The best aspect of this driver was its forgiveness, as it seems to perform equally well through the entire face area. Even severe mis-hits seem to fly fairly long and straight.

And straight it is! There has been a lot of discussion about the Moments of Inertia (MOI) of various clubs, including putters and drivers. More MOI will result in clubs that are less resistant to twists and deviations, resulting in straighter shots. This is where the JMax Carbon driver excels. It’s very, very straight and forgiving – you must put a VERY bad swing in order to get poor results. Most every tester was achieving straight and long drives. My testing with impact tape was resulting in several hits right in the middle of the clubface! I don’t know what TourEdge is doing to their drivers, but this unit seemed to be impossible to slice or hook – every good swing resulted in a dead straight ballflight.

Touredge Bazooka Sole

Conclusion This is a driver for the masses. Straight, long, and immensely easy to hit, with little vibration transmitted back to your hands. Many people who commented about the different feeling at impact were not used to carbon fiber composite drivers. The feeling and sound is quite different at impact than all-titanium models, but I like it more. Some players who wish to work the ball left/right may be disappointed by the lack of workability this club offers, but most every other player will be very pleased with the ability to get on a teebox, line up your shot, and put a good swing to the ball – you will be pleasantly rewarded with straight, piercing shots time after time. TourEdge’s website indicates that the company’s first claim to fame was the “Bazooka” lineup of titanium drivers, and this one doesn’t disappoint, and should continue the legacy.

6 thoughts on “TourEdge Bazooka JMax 460cc Carbon Driver Review”

I’m always shocked at how a company like Tour Edge can come up with such a superb line as the Exotics (the fairway may be the best on the market) and still dumb itself down to produce a hokey line like the Bazooka. I mean a PW hybrid?? Tour Edge needs to split itself into 2 companies, because the Jmax line is holding back their growth.

Have the Jmax Baxooka Titanium and love it. My friends have the more expensive drivers (cleveland launcher, taylor made r’s)and the tour edge performs as well if not better – at half the price – they use great materials, fujikura shafts and spend almost no money on advertising – the result – quality clubs at half the price – I laugh all the way to the 19th hole where I collect my winnings!!

…. I got one in the bag .. it’s a 10 degree with the draw bias …

I pulled the original Fuji shaft out (which was a FUJIKURA REACTIVE FLEX R 45″ 61g MID 4.0) and dropped in the Fuji Vista Pro 50 R 45″ 55g Low Kick …. hey, 15 yards is 15 yards – right..?

Great club for the money! I own 2. A 9.5 Carbon and 12. I would put both of them up against my Callaway X460 11 degree driver. It has a great feel, look and distance for an underrated driver.

JMax 460 9 degree Carbon Driver outperforms the various other drivers I have played (Titleist, Hogan, Macgregor). Good feel on impact and 460cc size is forgiving. The stock shaft performs reasonably well, but I replaced it with my best spare shaft, Speeder 757 for a bit lower ball flight. A great value.

Have played jmax’s fairways 4 years.love them New driver,fairways,hybrids are beautiful!will try for sure.Thanks4reviews..

Tour Edge is a golf equipment company that tends to do a little less advertising and promotion than other brands in the industry.

The result of this is that you may not know as much about these clubs, but their pricing is usually a little bit less.

I recently tested the Tour Edge Bazooka 370 golf set, and it seemed like a really fair price for all that was included.

Overall, this set offers tremendous value. It is a great golf set for beginners and high handicappers.

Tour Edge Bazooka 370 Review and Benefits

tour edge bazooka driver 270cc

One of the first things that will stand out about the Tour Edge Bazooka 370 is how reasonably priced it is.

In addition to the fair pricing, I really wanted to see how the distance, forgiveness, and overall ease of use stood up against other complete golf sets on the market.

What’s Included

The Tour Edge Bazooka 370 Set comes with 12 golf clubs. You really won’t need to add anything additional to the set. In addition, you also get a golf bag and a few headcovers .

  • Pitching Wedge
  • Sand Wedge
  • Golf Bag and Headcovers

Driver and Fairway Woods

Driver in the tour edge bazooka 370 set

The first thing I like to look for in these complete golf sets is whether or not the driver is a 460cc club head. This is the current USGA max , and you may as well take advantage of the largest and most forgiving golf club head size you can.

Players will enjoy an optimized center of gravity and a relatively high launch from the driver. The driver’s head is not adjustable, but it is set at 10.5 degrees, making it a fair amount of loft for golfers still new to the game.

This Tour Edge Bazooka 370 is not the longest club I’ve ever hit, but it was relatively accurate. I can see this as a good choice for those needing the extra forgiveness.

The set also comes with a 15 and a 19 degree fairway wood. These fairway woods have a low center of gravity and increase total launch. In fact, I loved using them as an alternative to the driver on certain holes.

Out of the rough, the 4 hybrid or the 5 wood are forgiving enough that you won’t be penalized for having your drive land here.

Hybrid and Irons

Our test of the 7 iron in the tour edge bazooka 370 set

There is only one hybrid included in the Tour Edge 370 Complete Set. Instead of two hybrids, they have put a 5 iron in play. This is really my one major complaint about this set of golf clubs. Sometimes it’s hard to hit the 5 iron if you have a slower swing speed.

However, these irons were designed to be more heel and toe weighted. The result is a lower center of gravity and a higher overall ball flight. In addition, these are cavity back irons, so you can expect they offer plenty of forgiveness when hit in the center of the face.

Outside of the 5 iron (which requires a little extra speed), the overall performance of these golf irons was very consistent.

Wedge and Putter

testing the bazooka 370 putter

There is a sand wedge and a pitching wedge included as part of the Tour Edge set. You may consider adding a lob wedge from another brand with high spin levels.

These wedges are easy to work with and very forgiving, but not necessarily the most impressive when it comes to spin rates.

The Tour Edge Bazooka 370 set comes with a classic blade-style putter . The putter has an alignment aid to help with visualization, and the overall feel of the clubface is pretty soft.

You may not keep this putter forever, but it’s a good start.

Golf Bag

The Tour Edge Bazooka 370 set comes with either a lightweight stand bag or a cart bag. The cart bag is only available in the senior set. Both of the bags have plenty of storage, and they come with an 8-way divider top to keep the clubs from hitting each other as you play and practice.

I like the stand bag a bit better than the cart bag, as it is versatile and durable. The cart bag is nice for storage, but it certainly makes it difficult to walk the golf course and carry it with you.

Tour Edge Bazooka 370 Pros and Cons

The Tour Edge Bazooka 370 has lots of impressive features. Overall I really liked the forgiveness that this set offers.

It may not provide the most impressive distance technology on the market, but if you miss the center of the clubface, you won’t be punished badly for it. Paired with a forgiving golf ball , you’d be in good shape.

tour edge bazooka 370 4 hybrid review

The major negative here is the 5 iron. It’s just hard for most average to slow swing speed beginners to hit a 5 iron with ease.

However, if you happen to have a little extra speed in your game, this 5-iron will likely be a club you enjoy.

  • Very forgiving golf clubs
  • Includes two fairway woods for more versatility in the set
  • Impressive performance from the rough
  • Higher launching golf clubs
  • Regular and senior shaft options
  • 5 iron is a bit more difficult to hit than a 5 hybrid
  • Distance from this set is not quite as long as other options on the market

Here are a few most commonly asked questions about the Bazooka 370 set from Tour Edge.

u003cstrongu003eHow good is the Tour Edge Bazooka 370 set?u003c/strongu003e

The Tour Edge Bazooka 370 set is an excellent choice for new players or high handicappers that are on a budget. The technology offered for the price is good.

u003cstrongu003eIs bazooka a good golf brand?u003c/strongu003e

The Bazooka set of golf clubs is made by Tour Edge. Tour Edge does a great job of combining performance and affordability in the equipment that they offer.

u003cstrongu003eAre Tour Edge golf Clubs forgiving?u003c/strongu003e

One of the main reasons golfers choose to go with Tour Edge is that they are forgiving. The large sweet spot and low center of gravity make these clubs some of the most forgiving in the game.

Final Thoughts: Is The Tour Edge Bazooka 370 Worth it?

The Tour Edge Bazooka 370 is worth the money. This was actually an easy decision for me because the pricing of this set is so fair for what you get.

Overall, Tour Edge does a great job of creating equipment that helps players enjoy the game of golf a bit more. If you are a beginner looking to get started in the game, this set is highly recommended.

Tour Edge Beta Ti2 Drivers

Tour edge beta ti2 drivers .

From Tour Edge Golf: The BetaTi Driver is incredibly light and strong, forged from Beta Titanium, a pure material carrying a density of 99%. This gives the Beta Ti face maximum rebound, exceptional feel, and an elastic collision that rockets the ball off the face. The most powerful Bazooka ever, the Bazooka Tungsten Beta Ti driver will put explosive distance in your hands. Transferring maximum energy at impact, the Beta Titanium face drives the golf ball to distances you never dreamed possible."

USER REVIEWS

Great driver. Since I hit this one my drives are at least 20 yards longer. Even bad off center hits remain playable.

I don't know how to compare this club as the only other driver I've used is the Adams SC Series driver, but I'm not unimpressed! Good clubhead size...not too big...paint tends to chip off after a while...well, I used it a lot so probably normal...good distance, GREAT value, fair accuracy...ideal for the golfer who doesn'tr have 300$ to blow on a name brand club (me).

Adams SC Series

By far the best driver I've owned. I've had slicing problems with my driver in the past, but for whatever reason, I do not slice this one. When you put a good swing on this one, it gives you a nice boring trajectory and a good roll. My mishits with this club tend to be low liners that still roll quite a ways. The weighting of this club is perfect for me, just feels right in my hands. 270cc club head is just the right size, not too big, not too small. Can't beat this kind of performance for $150.

Taylor Made Supersteel, Orlimar Trimetal

I have never been able to get much distance or accuracy with my drives so initially was very pleased with this club because I was consistently hitting 270+ and in the fairway. However, the club head broke off after just a few times at the range. Furthermore, its replacement also broke after just a few times at the range. This club is priced right and has great playability but beware of its durability.

Great Driver, feel like a Mizuno or even the Titlest, but at a fraction of the price, I hit every fairway, usualy 260 yards or more

Top Flite, Mizuno

This club is one of the best drivers on the market today. The light weight Grafalloy shaft makes this club very easy to swing. In fact, playing it head to head with some of the big names I have found it to be ultra forgiving and cost about half what the big boys want. GREAT STICK!!!

The lifetime warranty on all Tour Edge equipment and customer service has prompted me to change over to Tour Edge exclusively. Trust me...this company makes the game of golf fun again.

Tour Edge Bazooka 470 Black Driver

Description.

A new shape that produces a higher MOI in the Bazooka 470 Black 10.5° driver powers tee shots with high-flying and accurate performance.

The 460cc Titanium-powered head features Variable Face Thickness technology for improved forgiveness that produces straight and powerful tee shots even on miss-hits.

A rear fixed sole weight creates a deep center of gravity to help players of all abilities to easily launch the ball.

Tour Edge's Bazooka 470 Black is paired with premium, ultra-light shafts ranging in weight from 50 grams to 57 grams depending on flex.  The ultra-light shafts deliver a higher launch, making longer drives effortless.

The deep face design and Variable Face Thickness technology expands the sweet spot for a hotter launch from more contact points on the face resulting in maximum distance even on off-center hits.

A fixed rear sole weight positions weight back and away from the face to create a deep and low Center of Gravity that helps launch the ball initially with a higher trajectory with less spin.

Ultra-light high-launch graphite shafts deliver higher, longer trajectory.

The Tour Edge Bazooka 270 Complete Golf Club Set comes with an oversize high-MOI 460cc driver, low-profile stainless steel fairway wood, and a high-MOI 460cc driver. These drivers and fairway woods are designed to help you hit longer and straighter shots off the tee.

The Bazooka 270 is a great starter set featuring all the quality Tour Edge is known for. 11 total clubs include a forgiving 460cc driver, a low-profile 3 wood, an easy to hit 4 hybrid, undercut cavity-back 5 iron thru sand wedge, and a high MOI heel-toe blade putter. A 6-way divider stand bag and rain hood are included.

Driver. The driver in the Tour Edge Bazooka 270 set features a 460cc club head which is a great size for beginners and vets. Its high moment of inertia rating helps neophytes minimize flex which can misinform a lot of drives. The shaft is a Grafalloy made to Tour Edge's specifications. In stiff, it's a 65-gram model with 3.8 degrees of torque (moderately low) and rated as a mid-launch stick. More on its performance later, but in this flex it does seem to have a slightly softer tip than some other shafts I've tried this year. The grip is branded for Tour Edge.

The Tour Edge Bazooka 270 has premium looks and a forgiveness factor that will make the game easier to learn. And that's saying quite a bit because golf has a notoriously high learning curve. As the limits to driver size has increased, TourEdge has responded likewise, with larger and larger clubheads that are now at the 460cc size limitations. As with many other manufacturers, TourEdge has also introduced a driver with a carbon-fiber top, combined with a forged beat titanium head, in two versions: "Draw Bias" and "Power Fade.".

Players will enjoy an optimized center of gravity and a relatively high launch from the driver. The driver's head is not adjustable, but it is set at 10.5 degrees, making it a fair amount of loft for golfers still new to the game. This Tour Edge Bazooka 370 is not the longest club I've ever hit, but it was relatively accurate.
