And always great vibes at his show. He brought out his buddy Marvel Years (who opened up for him) and the two of them together were jamming super hard!

First Manic show. I have been listening to his music for awhile now but wasn't sure how it would be live. It was really dope! Not sure if he is always with a live drummer but that definitely added to it. Love the dj/drummer combo.

This was one of the most fun shows I've been to in a long time! manic focus and wick-it threw tf down and had everyone in the venue vibin! the crowd was cool, and the venue's set up was nice! manic focus and wick-it definitely blew my expectations out of the water.

Manic Focus is the beat-bumpin’ project of John “JmaC” McCarten, a Chicago-based electronic music producer hailing from the Twin Cities. A multi-dimensional artist with a rowdy style unbound to any one genre, Manic Focus transcends sound waves by fusing soulful blues with heavy-hitting bass, creating a resonating tone that’s entirely his own. Over the last 6 years, JmaC has released five full-length albums, each one a new evolution in sound and approach. He has also completed a slew of official remixes for artists such as GRiZ, The Floozies, Lettuce, Minnesota and Pretty Lights, and released several works with Pretty Lights Music veterans Break Science.

On the road, JmaC has been steadily building his live performance to include additional musicians and elements of production. Jacob Barinholtz is now a mainstay on the drums, and other musical co-conspirators join the two on select dates around the country. He’s also been known to incorporate surprise guests such as Big Gigantic’s Dominic Lalli, GRiZ, The Floozies’ Matt Hill, and Russ Liquid, to name a few. Occasionally, fans are treated to the rare live fusion of Break Science and Manic Focus, taking the stage as Manic Science. Recent live highlights include performances at The Gorge Amphitheater in WA and Red Rocks Amphitheater in CO, both dates as support for Pretty Lights. Summer 2017 has seen performances from Manic Focus at Summer Camp Music Festival, High Sierra Music Festival, Camp Bisco, and Summer Set Music Festival, to name a few.

 In the studio, JmaC continues to push himself to new musical limits by incorporating original, sample-free recordings of many up-and-coming musical allies. This is especially apparent in the material from his most recent album, Minds Rising . Released in April 2017, Minds Rising is an infectious encapsulation of Manic Focus' roots in funk, soul, new-era hip hop, and electronic music. The album is an artful curation of the burgeoning Chicago music landscape and beyond, featuring appearances from cutting-edge hip hop artists, vocalists, producers, and musicians from across the country. Collaborators include Jennifer Hartswick of Trey Anastasio Band, Adam Deitch of Lettuce/Break Science, Russ Liquid, ProbCause, Late Night Radio, and more. Minds Rising is an opus two years in the making, and paints an aural illustration of Manic Focus’ shift from producer to composer — one beat, instrument and verse at a time.

Monster Energy’s Outbreak Tour Announces First Dance Music Concert Series

The Monster Energy Outbreak Tour has announced the debut of AMPLIFIED, a new dance music extension of the genre-spanning tour series. Here’s the latest.

‘AMPLIFIED’ will feature three dance music headliners including GHASTLY, BOOGIE T.RIO x Manic Focus, and LEVEL UP as part of a singular EDM tour series. Fans will have the opportunity to win VIP passes and pre-show soundtrack access, to personal meet & greets with the groups.

GHASTLY’s continuously evolving musical sound and discography spans multiple genres, but he burst onto the scene as a solo artist after producing “Crank It” with Lil Jon and Mija on Skrillex’s label OSWLA. GHASTLY released his sophomore album Haunted Haus in 2022 and showcased his unique take on both house and future bass.

BOOGIE T. RIO is a live band that consists of Boogie T on vocals/guitar/keys, and Frank ‘Animal Drums’ Castro on drums, with Andriu ‘Yano’ Yanovski on keyboard and synth bass. Boogie T has risen to prominence in the bass music world as a producer and touring DJ, performing at festivals like Lollapalooza, Bonnaroo, Coachella, and EDC. BOOGIE T. RIO is the next phase in the evolution of Boogie T.

The manic Focus Band is a live instrument fusion of electronic music by John “JmaC” McCarten, a Denver-based producer with roots in funk, soul, and new-era hip-hop. Manic Focus fuses soulful blues with heavy-hitting bass, creating a tone that is entirely his own. The Band include instrumentalist and producer Marvel Years on guitar and Colby Buckler on drums.

LEVEL UP dove into music production after discovering dubstep. Since then, she has established herself as an artist at the crossroads of blending heavy and future bass, with her own flips of classic dance and emo anthems. She’s performed at legendary venues including Red Rocks, Lollapalooza, EDC, Bonnaroo, Lost Lands, Electric Forest, and many more.

Manic Focus Bio:

Manic Focus is the electronic music project of John “JmaC” McCarten, a Denver-based producer with roots in funk, soul, and new-era hip-hop. A multi-dimensional artist with a rowdy style that spans multiple genres, Manic Focus fuses soulful blues with heavy-hitting bass, creating a tone that’s entirely his own.

Originally hailing from the Twin Cities, JmaC grew up with classical piano lessons from an early age, developing a trained musical ear and laying the groundwork for his future in beat production. In his teen years, he developed a deep appreciation for hip-hop music, citing musical influences such as Atmosphere, Brother Ali and MF Doom. In high school, JmaC began producing hip-hop music using Logic software, making beats for his friends to rap on. He transitioned into making electronic music 5 years later, combining his love of hip-hop with electronic sound design and future bass influences.

Over the last 10 years, JmaC has released six full-length albums, each one a new evolution in sound and approach. The producer continues to push himself to new musical limits by incorporating original, sample-free recordings, which is especially apparent in the material from his last full length album Lost in a Digital World, released in September of 2019. Since then, JmaC has released 15 singles and a handful of EPs, including collaborations with Break Science, Mersiv, SoDown, K+Lab, ProbCause, and Marvel Years. McCarten has also completed a slew of official remixes for notable artists such as Louis the Child, Zed’s Dead, Pretty Lights, GRiZ, The Floozies, Umphrey’s McGee, PLS&TY, Lettuce, and Minnesota.

Recent live highlights include performances at Lollapalooza, Hulaween, North Coast Music Festival, High Sierra Music Festival, Camp Bisco, Wakaan Festival and Summer Camp Music Festival. Previous performances of note include Electric Forest, Bonnaroo, The Gorge Amphitheater in WA and numerous Red Rocks performances supporting Zhu, Emancipator, Pretty Lights and more.
