Smyths to host Barbie ‘You Can Be Anything Experience’

The Barbie ‘You Can Be Anything Experience’ will be hosted exclusively by Smyths Toys Superstores’ YouTube channel this weekend.

Sinead Byrne, joint head of Marketing, Smyths Toys, commented: “We hope to reach and engage both new and existing audiences with this creative and fun experience from Barbie and Smyths Toys.”

The campaign is designed to inspire creative play, showcasing the inclusive and diverse range available from Barbie. The Barbie ‘You Can Be Anything Experience’ will explore three inspiring themes to keep audiences engaged across the three day event, which are: Expressive, Adventurous and Imaginative.

‘’Over the past year we’ve had to diversify our approach to retail eventing and we are excited to share that Barbie has gone virtual with our ‘You Can Be Anything Experience’ – hosted exclusively on the Smyth’s Toy’s YouTube channel,” explained Eirian Jones – head of Customer Marketing, Mattel. “Barbie will entertain, inspire and educate children with themes celebrating individuality and diversity, and motivate the limitless potential for children and their futures, by championing the ‘You can Be Anything’ spirit.”

The launch of the online experience is supported with an integrated 360 marketing campaign including YouTube, Facebook, Instagram and influencer campaigns with Helen Flanagan,  Fashion Laerta and more.

“We have three full days of fun planned,” added Eirian, “including themed content for little creators, explorers and dreamers which will encourage at home participation and interaction, keeping the kids entertained through a series of engaging content that allows viewers to positively play, move and make along.”

Margot Robbie Dressed Like Barbie Twice in Australia Ahead of Barbie Movie Release

Her latest press tour looks pay homage to the original doll from 1959.

The throwback fashion looks mark a fun pivot for a press tour that has been full of unexpected but creative homages so far. There’s a lot more to come, too: Robbie and Ryan Gosling announced earlier that the Barbie press tour will happen in eight cities: Sydney (where Robbie is now), Toronto (where Gosling is now), Seoul, Mexico City, Los Angeles (where they did their initial photo call ), London, Berlin, and New York.

Robbie recently spoke to Fandango about how the film crew managed to get the now-viral trailer shot of her arched Barbie feet.

“It was probably about eight takes. Wasn’t that many,” she said. “I walked up, we had little sticky bits on the floor, double-sided tape for the shoes, so they wouldn’t come off, so I could get my feet out of them. And I was holding onto a bar. But that’s it. I wasn’t in a harness or anything like that. I just walked up, kind of held onto the bar above [the] camera.” She stressed that using her own body for shots like that is important to her: “I always try to do my own inserts.”

The project marks the first stage venture for LuckyChap, whose other film and TV credits include Promising Young Woman, I, Tonya and the Hulu TV series Dollface .

The Big Gay Jamboree , according to the synopsis, “centers on Stacey, who after blacking out from 18 Jägerbombs, wakes up hungover in the most terrifying place of all: an Off-Broadway musical. With no memory of how she got there, Stacey is forced to put her BFA in theater to use, belt her face off, and figure out how the hell she’s gonna escape this 1940s golden age musical…while a live audience watches.”

In a joint statement, LuckyChap said, “We’ve been admiring Marla Mindelle’s work for quite some time and our adoration only grew when we were blown away by Titaníque . We knew that we wanted to be a part of bringing Marla’s The Big Gay Jamboree to the stage. We’ve been wanting to find a way into the theatre space and couldn’t be more thrilled for this to be our first foray alongside the incredible team involved.”

Said Wagner and Johnson, “Few things have given us greater hope in the future of the American theater than the recent renaissance we’ve seen happen downtown. We’re excited to bring Marla back to Off-Broadway audiences, and welcome LuckyChap into the theatrical fray.”

The creative team for The Big Gay Jamboree includes dots (set design), Sarah Cubbage (costume design), Brian Tovar (lighting design), and Aaron Rhyne (projection design). Musical Supervision and Arrangements by David Dabbon and Casting is by Stephen Kopel.

Titaníque , a jukebox musical parody of the 1997 film Titanic , features the songs of Céline Dion and includes a Céline Dion character who hijacks a tour at a Titanic museum and provides her take on what really happened to Jack and Rose that fateful night. The show premiered in Los Angeles in 2017, then began an Off Broadway run at the Asylum Theatre in 2022 (later transferring to the Daryl Roth Theatre, where it continues to play). Titaníque won the Off Broadway Lucille Lortel Awards for outstanding musical, lead performer (Mindelle) and costume design (Alejo Vietti).

This is what Billie Eilish talks about when she's not promoting 'Barbie, Barbie, Barbie'

Billie Eilish is so sick of talking about her Oscar-winning "Barbie" song.

The singer, who co-wrote “What Was I Made For?” with brother-collaborator Finneas for Greta Gerwig's movie, finally has time to talk about how tiring it was to promote the song and attend all those awards ceremonies.

“Bro, nobody can get enough of me,” she told Rolling Stone . “Every second of every day is Barbie, Barbie, Barbie, Barbie, Barbie, which is great, but as soon as the Oscars are over and I lose, I’m going the f— away. I’m literally gone.”

She did not, in fact, lose the Academy Award for original song, and she and Finneas became the youngest two-time winners in Oscars history . The duo also picked up a Golden Globe and a Grammy for the hit .

Eilish told the magazine — in what she said was her first non-"Barbie" interview in more than a year — that the song became a bigger hit than she was anticipating.

The 22-year-old hitmaker is set to release her third album, “Hit Me Hard and Soft,” on May 17. Though she is exploring different sounds and more mature themes than in her previous work, she and Finneas, who was also interviewed for the profile, revealed that the opening track mirrors “What Was I Made For?”

She and Finneas had writer's block when they were creating the “Barbie” track, and they ended up writing this new song first, she said.

The tune, with its yet-to-be-revealed title, became the catalyst for the emotional and delicate “Barbie” hit, sharing its whispered sound and a similarly graceful melody. It explores the myth that losing weight means gaining happiness — another emotional theme that, like the one in "What Was I Made For?," often plagues girls and women as they grow up.

Eilish, 22, said she felt like she had been making music and working nonstop since she hit the A-list as a teenager.

“I had this moment of like, ‘Oh, my God, I haven’t had fun in seven years.’ Truly. I had this illusion that I had, because who experiences going to the Grammys at basically 17 and winning five ?” she said. “But in life, I realized I had really not experienced that much. I didn’t go outside for five years. How was I supposed to have any experiences?”

Since 2019, the singer has put out two albums, written and performed songs for “No Time to Die” and “Barbie” (winning Oscars for both), headlined at Coachella and picked up more than a few Grammys. After the lengthy and very pink “Barbie” promotional tour, she said she was relieved to catch a break.

That is, until her next album kicks off a whole new cycle.

Ryan Gosling fans are rather concerned as the actor has been seen looking rather ‘puffy’ while promoting his new film with Emily Blunt.

In recent weeks, the Barbie star, 43, has been promoting The Fall Guy , a new action comedy-drama in which he stars as a down-on-his-luck stuntman on a mission to save a famous actor.

While promoting this film, he has attended various junkets and interviews with his co-star Emily Blunt but he looks rather different than he has done over the past few years.

Many have noticed that the A-list hunk’s cheeks look slightly more filled, with fans suggesting he had undergone plastic surgery and potentially had dermal fillers.

Ryan himself has never openly spoken about cosmetic surgery. However, tweakments’ like this have become commonplace in Hollywood and soft tissue fillers are the second most common minimally invasive procedure.

Research suggests that in the US in 2022, more than 7.3million non-surgical cosmetic treatments -such as injectables like botox or filler- took place, showing how popular these minor treatments have become.

His new visage has caused quite a stir on social media, with fans debating between them over the cause of Ry’s ‘new face’.

Reacting to Ryan’s current appearance, @jacobpetkovic was among those speaking out, writing on X: ‘Ryan Gosling, please step away from the filler.’

‘Dude…..has anyone noticed Ryan Gosling’s face? Like why did he go and get fillers?! He looked fine before,’ @AR_Kymmers weighed in, with @harperourmaltese commenting on TikTok: ‘I was wondering what was up with his puffy face!’

However, others aren’t convinced that the actor has had any cosmetic work, with some suggesting it might be a side effect of bulking up. Some have argued that recent photos were edited.

@psychocaffeine commented: ‘I don’t think it’s fillers lol it think it’s from bulking for his latest film, the fall guy. 😂 People will find anything to say anything.’

@sydneymarie2005 said on X: ‘WHY DID THEY EDIT THESE PHOTOS OF RYAN GOSLING. Was that really necessary? He’s already attractive without surgery or edits.’

While this may seem like a recent change, one aesthetics doctor on TikTok has suggested that The Notebook actor may have been getting filler in his face for a few years. Documenting Ryan’s apparent change throughout his acting career, the doctor suggested that 2021 was likely the time the actor began getting these low-key tweakments.

Roy Cowley, Celebrity Body Fixer and Founder & Managing Director of 3D Aesthetics also told Metro.co.uk that there is an ‘obvious conclusion’ when it comes to Ryan’s recent appearance.

‘I would draw to a general rule of thumb which paints the obvious conclusion. If there is a significant localised increase in volume there are NO non-invasive procedures that can achieve this,’ he said.

‘Volume can only be increased using minimally invasive filler injections, mainly used for facial adjustment.

‘The good news for Mr Gosling is that this is not a permanent result and the effect will reverse over time which judging by comments from fans he will be very grateful of.’

Ryan’s latest film sees him star as Colt Seavers, an experienced but ageing action stuntman who teams up with his ex-girlfriend, Emily Blunt’s character Jody Monero, in order to save the lead actor in her new film.

Aaron Taylor-Johnson stars as the missing movie star alongside other actors such as Winston Duke, Hannah Waddingham, and Stephanie Hsu.

The film has already received positive reviews from critics and has broken Guinness World records on set while performing some of the stunts.
