King Buzzo , a.k.a. Buzz Osborne , is the singer, guitar player and founder of the enormously influential band, the Melvins. His innovative approach to songwriting, and guitar playing, has influenced countless musicians, and turned leagues of music lovers into ardent fans. Renowned for his pioneering use of down-tuned strings, Buzzo masterfully blended his punk and metal influences, and in turn, he created a groundbreaking new sound in heavy music. Over Osborne’s extensive career, which originated in the small hamlet of Montesano, Wash. in 1983, he has released over 30 albums under the Melvins’ moniker, two solo albums [Gift of Sacrifice (2020) and This Machine Kills Artists (2014)], as well as a number of collaborative projects including Fantômas and Crystal Fairy.
Trevor Dunn might be most widely known for his work with Mr. Bungle, the eclectic and unpredictable Northern California band he co-founded in 1985, but his career outside of Mr. Bungle has been just as notable. Also a member of Fantômas, Trevor Dunn’s Trio-Convulsant, Tomahawk and Melvins Lite, Dunn has also written music for various ensembles, performed extensively with John Zorn, and recently formed Riverworm Records, a label home for “discarded, forgotten, and misunderstood music.”

King Buzzo, a.k.a. Buzz Osborne, is the singer, guitar player and founder of the enormously influential band, the Melvins.
Also a member of Fantômas, Trevor Dunn’s Trio-Convulsant, Tomahawk and Melvins Lite, Dunn has also written music for various ensembles, performed extensively with John Zorn, and recently formed Riverworm Records , a label home for “discarded, forgotten, and misunderstood music.”

The Melvins’ King Buzzo has a new solo acoustic record called Gift of Sacrifice that comes out in May of 2020 followed by tours which will take him across the United States, Europe and parts beyond.
This is exciting news!
What makes this news even more exciting is that King Buzzo has recorded this record with the fabulously talented bass player Trevor Dunn. Trevor was a founding member of Mr. Bungle and also plays bass in the psycho metal/spaghetti western band Fantômas, as well as recording and touring with the Melvins (as Melvins Lite).
“ Gift of Sacrifice was a stone groove to record and it will be a f*cking blast to finally hit the road with my buddy Trevor Dunn,” says Osborne. “Once we take the stage, I guarantee we’ll kick the crap out of this album. Trevor’s bass playing is superb. With a guy like Trevor, you get the best results when you just let him do his thing. Trusting the musicians you work with is a very important part of how I write and record music and with Trevor I know I’ll never be disappointed with what he plays.”
The addition of Trevor’s stand-up bass makes Gift of Sacrifice a step up from King Buzzo’s last acoustic record, This Machine Kills Artists . It gives this new record a haunted quality which drives the songs to a new level. Another new element is the addition of modular synth, which adds its own angular sounds to the acoustic guitar and bass. This is an odd combination of sounds not heard before on an all acoustic record.
“It was time for me to do a new acoustic record and another solo world tour,” Buzz adds. “I can’t wait for Gift of Sacrifice to come out and then hit the road with Trevor this spring.”
Buzz : What do you think of the album?
Trevor : I love it. I’ve never heard this kind of production on an all acoustic record. It’s insanely fucking cool! I wouldn’t have thought to combine acoustic instruments with modular synths.
Buzz : There’s probably lots of shit you wouldn’t have thought of.
Trevor : Oh really? That’s what you think? Why don’t you fuck off....
Buzz : Relax! I was partially kidding.
Trevor : We’ll it’s the not kidding part that you can shove up your ass.
Buzz : Sorry man. I’m gonna lay off because we have a loooong tour coming up and I don’t want a mutiny on my hands.
Trevor : I’d appreciate it.
Gift of Sacrifice was recorded at Sound of Sirens Studios in Los Angeles by Toshi Kasai. Artwork by Mackie Osborne.

In the late ’60s, King Crimson was one of the most influential prog-rock groups in the world.
After disbanding in 1974, guitarist Robert Fripp reformed the band in 1981 with new members Adrian Belew , Bill Bruford, and Tony Levin. The quartet took their sound in a wholly new direction with their three African, post-punk, and minimalist albums “Discipline,” “Beat” and “Three of a Perfect Pair.”
Now, more than 40 years later, King Crimson sans Fripp and Bruford will take that trio of records on the road for their 2024 ‘BEAT Tour’ with guitar virtuoso Steve Vai and Tool drummer Danny Carey.
Along the way, the legendary outfit will stop into New York City’s Beacon Theatre on Oct. 5, Red Bank, NJ’s Hackensack Meridian Theatre on Oct. 9, Rochester’s Kodak Center on Oct. 19 and Albany’s The Egg on Oct. 21.
While Fripp isn’t part of the tour, he did give the upcoming jaunt its blessing.
“This is the project that Adrian Belew called me about last autumn, a project which I support and fully encourage, and discussed with Steve Vai recently at McCabes in Santa Monica. Even, I suggested the name,” the 77-year-old shared on Facebook .
For fans who want to see the daring rockers live, tickets are available for all concerts as soon as today.
Although inventory isn’t available on Ticketmaster until Friday, April 5, fans who want to ensure they have tickets ahead of time can purchase on sites like Vivid Seats before tickets are officially on sale.
Vivid Seats is a secondary market ticketing platform, and prices may be higher or lower than face value, depending on demand.
They have a 100% buyer guarantee that states your transaction will be safe and secure and will be delivered before the event.
