MTB tours in the Dolomites Region Seiser Alm
Explore the valley and stretches of woodlands on you mountainbike: it’s what every adventurous soul is looking for! These epic mountain bike or e-bikes trips take you past idyllic hamlets, rustic farms and up to sun-drenched high-altitude Alpine pastures. Take a break in welcoming mountain huts or alpine inns and enjoy mesmerising mountain views.
At the Braunhof farm there is a connection from the Hofer Alpl hut loop tour to the entrance of the Schnaggenkreuz loop route at the Tasioler farm. So you can quickly and comfortably switch between the tours.
You don’t get much closer to the Schlern than this: This leisurely loop-route leading from Compatsch to the Spitzbühl at the far end of the Seiser Alm boasts breathtaking views of the Dolomite peaks and Seis am Schlern at the bottom of the valley. Information about the timetables and tickets of the summer lifts: www.seiseralm.it/cablecars
The natural landscape of the Tagusens loop route offers endless variety, and leads along meadows, woods and forest trails past the two hamlets of Tisens and Tagusens. At 12.8 km it is a moderately difficult tour, but the Moosbühel route offers a shorter alternative.
This mountain-bike or e-bike tour treats bikers to a view of all of the Kings and Queens of the Dolomite mountains, including the Marmolada – Queen of the Dolomites, the majestic Langkofel and Plattkofel, King Laurin and his Rosengarten massif, and the Schlern in all of its legendary might. The route leads from the Eggental Valley to the Fassa Valley and on to the Gröden Valley, followed by a stretch through the Dolomites region Seiser Alm and back to the set-off point. Given its length of 105 km, we recommend taking this tour in a few stages. If you opt to use an e-bike, it is possible to cycle the full length in one day, stopping off at one of the countless mountain huts to recharge your bike along the way. You can choose to begin the tour from any one of the valleys it covers. Information about the timetables and tickets of the summer lifts: www.seiseralm.it/cablecars
This tour takes you along forest roads through masses of woodland to the Schlern-Rosengarten nature reserve. The trail leads past the Völser Weiher Lake and the Tuff Alm hut mountain hut to the Hofer Alpl on the slopes of the Schlern.
Witnesses to the event recall the air-raid of 1943 which created the small lake at the Wuhnleger. It is now home to toads, salamanders and dragonflies, and showcases an immense biodiversity. The view of the Catinaccio and the Torri del Vajolet together with their mirror-image in the lake is an unmissable natural spectacle.
The Puflatsch loop route leads you all the way around Kastelruth's home mountain, past the Panidersattel to St. Ulrich and with the areal cableway up to the Seiser Alm, the highest point of the tour. The following descent leads along country roads back to Kastelruth. Due to the closure of the Tränka road (Pufels/Bulla), this year there is a variant via St. Ulrich/Ortisei. Information about the timetables and tickets of the summer lifts: www.seiseralm.it/cablecars
This tour, the Valle Isarco route I, links the biking region of the Seiser Alm/Val Gardena with the bottom of the Eisacktal Valley, where a number of tours lead in the direction of Brixen and Bozen. These well-maintained bike paths guarantee great routes for mountain bikers and road cyclists alike.
The Rosszähne variant diverges from the Seiser Alm hut tour, and is suitable for well-trained cyclists who want to tire themselves out before heading back to Saltria. You can also stop by the idyllic Dialer chapel and take in the magnificent views. Information about the timetables and tickets of the summer lifts: www.seiseralm.it/cablecars
This alternative route has it all: The exceptionally steep access trail to the Tierser Alpl Refuge gives you the chance to extend the Duron Valley tour, and leads to this breathtaking mountain hut amidst the rock formations of the Rosszahn and the Rosengarten Antermoia. Information about the timetables and tickets of the summer lifts: www.seiseralm.it/cablecars
The extremely challenging Duron valley tour is guaranteed biking fun at its best. It leads you through the whole of the Seiser Alm, through the Duron valley and into Trentino, and completing the loop round the Langkofel and Plattkofel.
The Moosbühel variant of the route leads between the Rendenbühl and Tisenser Bühel hills, and offers a shorter version of the traditional Tagusens loop route. The trail is relatively flat and leads mainly through woodland.
This route links Völs am Schlern with Seis am Schlern and leads through variety-packed meadow and forest land at the foot of the Schlern, along well-surfaced bike paths through the Völs hamlets of St. Anton and St. Konstantin, past the idyllic St. Konstantin chapel and the St. Vigil golf course to Seis am Schlern.
Challenging hut-tour in Tiers am Rosengarten.
This tour, which is especially recommended for e-bikers because of its 800 meters of altitude difference, leads past alpine huts which offer refreshments. The tour offers a fantastic view of the Rosengarten massif with the impressive Vajolet towers.
The „Eisacktal Valley-Dolomites region Seiser Alm link trail“ connects the valley cycle path with the Seiser Alm/Val Gardena biking region and its villages Kastelruth, Seis am Schlern, Völs am Schlern, Tiers am Rosengarten and Seiser Alm.
The route to the Niger pass links the biking region of the Seiser Alm to the biking adventure in the Eggental. You have to grapple with 562 m of elevation but can replenish your energies at the Refuge Niger Pass before you set off to explore the other biking region.
The 600 m long Hofer Alpl II variant is a connection from Moar Mühle to Peternaderhof farm, where you can enter in the Schnaggenkreuz loop rout or vice versa.
As an alternative option to the Seiser Alm cable car, you can tackle the ascent with pure pedal-power. The advantages: The road is car-free from 9am to 5pm, so nothing can get in the way of the fun.
This route from Kastelruth village centre to Seis am Schlern passes through the picturesque hamlets of Tisens and St. Oswald with their small chapels, the fascinating natural spectacle of the “Ice Hole” wind tunnels, the ruins of Aichach and the Malenger water mill. The route leads, in part, along ancient roads with tracks that have been worn down over the centuries and offers beautiful views over the Eisacktal, the Ritten and, naturally, the Schlern and its neighbouring mountains. ATTENTION: the section from km 3.2 to km 4.2 is very steep (downhill) and narrow!
This tour leads to the child-friendly Marinzen Alm mountain hut. It is ideal for fit families and boasts spectacular views over Kastelruth. Biking newbies or less-fit bikers have the option of taking the Marinzen lift (bike transport) uphill, and then enjoy all the fun of the variety-packed descent. Information about the timetables and tickets of the summer lifts: www.seiseralm.it/cablecars
A timeless gem of a tour: fully enjoy the mountain scenery by saving energy using one of the many lift facilities.
Information about the timetables and tickets of the summer lifts: www.seiseralm.it/cablecars
This route leads mainly downhill across the Seiser Alm, past the imposing Langkofel group, and links the Seiser Alm with Selva, the set-off point for the spectacular Sella Ronda. This tour is recommended for experienced riders accompanied by a guide. Information about the timetables and tickets of the summer lifts: www.seiseralm.it/cablecars
The whole of the Seiser Alm in one single tour: This variety-packed route offers you a sporting challenge together with an outstanding countryside experience as you circumnavigate Europe’s largest alpine pasture. Mountain huts along the route offer refreshments and the chance reenergize for your onward journey. Information about the timetables and tickets of the summer lifts: www.seiseralm.it/cablecars
Circumnavigation of the Schlern and Rosengarten massifs with breathtaking views of the Dolomites and the regions of Seiser Alm/Alpe di Siusi, Val d'Ega/Eggental and Val di Fassa. An 80 km long, moderately difficult tour that is just as doable with a normal MTB as with an e-bike. ATTENTION: path [519] partially closed. Detour from Moena via [519A] to Tal Crist and then along path [519] to Passo Costalunga/Karerpass. Information about the timetables and tickets of the summer lifts: www.seiseralm.it/cablecars
The route runs along the slopes of the towering Hammerwand and Tschafon, giving bikers an extra challenge if you still have some energy left after the Schnaggenkreuz route.
The Eisacktal Valley II link trail connects the valley basin and the Bozen – Brixen cycle path with the Seiser Alm/Val Gardena biking region and its 600 kilometres of trails. The link route ties in with the St. Oswald loop route back to Seis am Schlern or Kastelruth.
This route runs along the main road for the most part and links Völser Aicha with Tiers am Rosengarten, where the Wuhnleger loop-route with its numerous beauty spots begins: The wild, romantic Tschamin Valley and the Wuhnleger Weiher lake are absolute must-sees in the Dolomites region Seiser Alm.
The Schnaggenkreuz Cross loop route begins in Völs am Schlern and passes by the hamlets of Umes, Völser Aicha and Prösels, offering immense variety and close contact with the surrounding countryside. In Prösels, it is well worth taking a detour to the historic Prösels Castel, which organises fascinating guided tours.

253 Seiser Alm Hut Tour
È fattibile anche per un bimbo di 11 anni con e bike?
The whole of the Seiser Alm in one single tour: This variety-packed route offers you a sporting challenge together with an outstanding countryside experience as you circumnavigate Europe’s largest alpine pasture. Mountain huts along the route offer refreshments and the chance reenergize for your onward journey. Information about the timetables and tickets of the summer lifts: www.seiseralm.it/cablecars
Track types
Safety information, turn-by-turn directions.
From your set-off point in Compatsch, follow the tarred road uphill to the Panorama mountain station, until your trail meets with a well-surfaced forest road. Surrounded by a breathtaking mountain panorama, you will pass by Edelweiß hut, Almrosen hut and the Mahlknecht refuge, which welcome you in for a break after your first climb of the tour. The Zallinger trail continues with a descent to the Tirler hut and a second ascent, passing sulphur springs on the way to the Zallinger mountain hut.
From there you continue towards Monte Pana. The first part of the descent is very stony and requires technical abilities. We recommend inexperienced bikers and children to push the bike on this part. The path merges into a wide forest road and your struggles will be compensated with the wonderful panorama below the mountains Lang- and Plattkofel. Passing the Saltner Schwaige hut you reach Saltria, from here you drive along the alpine road back to Compatsch.
Alternatively, you can take the path number 231 from the mountain inn Zallinger directly to Saltria, passing the hotel Tirler. This route is less demanding and shortens the tour.
The road to the landscape conservation area Seiser Alm is closed to private traffic from 9.00am to 5.00pm. During this time you can get to the Seiser Alm by the Seiser Alm cable carr from Seis or by bus from Kastelruth. You can descend from Compatsch at any time.

Starting in Compaccio, at 1,840 m a.s.l. (reachable by car only until 9 am, afterwards by the Alpe di Siusi Cable Car), we cycle on the asphalted road towards Hotel Panorama - Punta d'Oro - Molignon mountain hut. At the Hotel Punta d'Oro we take the gravel trail no. 7 to the Molignon mountain hut (2,054 m). After a short descent until the Rio Saltria, we start the steep ascent towards the Dialer mountain hut, which we reach after about 200 m.
The most challenging part of this MTB tour is the following steep asphalted road through the Duron valley, up to the 2,444 m high Alpe di Tires mountain hut. On our right we see the bizarre rock formations of the Denti di Terrarossa (Horse Teeth mountains). After a very pleasant rest in the mountain hut we cycle back to the Dialer and Molignon mountain huts, where we take trail no. 8 towards Saltria (1,670 m), passing the Tirler mountain hut. From Saltria we take the asphalted road back to our starting point Compaccio in Alpe di Siusi, a component locality of the municipality of Castelrotto.
This MTB tour requires good physical condition and fitness. However, the breathtaking Dolomites panorama is very worth the effort!
