Major credit cards are widely accepted in Iceland and there is no credit card minimum for purchases. However, some of the museums and local events may not accept credit cards. In case you need cash you can take some out of an ATM.

Where / how will we meet at the dock?

Our guides will pick you up at the dock just as you leave your ship. They will hold a Saga Travel sign with the tours name.

Private Shore Excursions

Cruise ships.

No, due to high number of no shows in 2022 we decided to stop allowing guests to pay on arrival. Now you can only pay all the amount when you are booking. We of course still offer a full refund up until 24h on most our products and we use a secure payment system hosted by Rapyd. We accept most Credit Cards (Not American Express) and it is possible to use Apple pay and Google pay on most mobile devices.

Absolutely not! Our tab water is very clean and tastes good. We recommend bringing a reusable bottle – you can fill it up at any tab, free of charge.

In the summer, light clothing is often all you need – but always be prepared for both cold and wet weather, all times of the year. The weather can be extremely changeable and tricky to foresee. Icelanders often say, “If you don´t like the weather, just wait 15 minutes.” The local trick to staying warm and prepared for all weather is layers of clothes. In the wintertime, you will need warm shoes and socks!

Fun fact: A favourite pastime is year-round outdoor swimming in countless geothermally heated pools and lagoons, with a typical temperature of 25-28°C. Bring your swimsuit!

The tours from port are customized around cruise time frame so if your cruise docks late your guide will wait for you and the guide will also make sure to bring you back to the cruise in time.

If you booked a tour from port, your tour is customized only for cruise ship passengers so your guide will wait for you.

You will receive a full refund if your cruise cannot dock.

If we cancel the tour, you will receive an email and offered to reschedule. If rescheduling does not work out, we refund the booking.

Yes, please bring your ticket, you can either have it on your phone/tablet or print it out. Make sure the QR barcode is visible and readable.

Bathe in the famous hot springs of the Blue Lagoon in Grindavík on the Reykjanes Peninsula, take whale watching tours in Húsavík and Akureyri, and let your imagination run wild with tall tales of elves, fairies and trolls.

Cute, compact and colourful, Iceland’s capital is a real joy to explore. The streets are lined with houses and shops painted a rainbow of colours, brightening up even the dullest of days. Warm cafes invite you in for a coffee and pastries, while restaurants tempt with creative cuisine. There are some fantastic museums to tour, including the National Museum, the Aurora Museum and the Saga Museum (nothing to do with us – it’s all about ancient Icelandic sagas filled with magic and adventure).

Iceland’s Golden Triangle is made up of a trio of natural wonders, all within easy reach of each other and within daytrip distance of Reykjavik. First up is Thingvellir National Park, a spectacular landscape of mountains and grassy lava fields, set in a rift valley where the Eurasian and North American tectonic plates meet. Next, you have Gulfoss, a crashing curtain of water that tumbles down into a canyon formed at the end of the last Ice Age. Finally, there’s Strokker, a volcanic geyser which erupts with gusto every 5-10 minutes, blasting water 20-plus metres into the air.
