Victoria Monét

Victoria Monét will embark on her debut headlining tour , The Jaguar Tour , this fall.

The tour will kick off on Sept. 6 at Detroit’s Majestic Theatre, less than two weeks after she releases her new album Jaguar II on Aug. 25 via Lovett Music/RCA Records. Since she released her critically acclaimed album Jaguar in 2020 during the pandemic, The Jaguar Tour will mark the first time she’ll be performing both projects live on tour.

Monét previously released singles “Smoke,” featuring Lucky Daye , “Party Girls,” featuring Buju Banton and “On My Mama” ahead of Jaguar II . She broke down all three tracks for Billboard , saying, “I feel like I’ve been behind the bushes and in the background, and I think jaguars themselves live in that way. They find the right moment to attack — and get what they want.”

Tickets go on sale this Friday, July 14 at 10 a.m. local time here . But they could sell out as quickly as her first headlining show in L.A. this past March at the El Rey Theatre — which was in partnership with Spotify’s “R&B First Nights” campaign and Goldenvoice — which sold out in under one minute.

Victoria Monét Is A Y2K, Southern-Inspired Star In Her New Music Video

These R&B references are chef’s kiss.

Victoria Monét has been on the prowl. The singer introduced her Jaguar era — a buttery R&B album filled with rich browns imageries and golden safaris — in August 2020, reminding the world that her lush vocals is just as impressive as her lyrical pen. Yes, she’s the mastermind behind Ariana Grande’s memorable 7 Rings mantra: “I want it, I got it.” Now, nearly three years after the album’s release, Monét’s continuing her cat cosplay with Jaguar II . The star recently released a music video for her third single “On My Mama,” and it’s littered with iconic references to artists from the South.

On Aug. 14, Monét dropped the long-awaited visual for “On My Mama.” This richly produced hit, which is on the cusp of a TikTok dance challenge , is the third offering from Jaguar II . With this closing out her trilogy of early singles, it’s only right the music video has the greatest elements. And surprisingly, it does. Just shy of four minutes, Monét takes listeners on a infectious tribute to Black southern artists who shaped the early 2000s. This direction fits perfectly, as she interpolates “I Look Good” from Texas emcee Chalie Boy on “On My Mama.” Ugh, we love an artist with taste.

This hypnotic release follows several album updates from Monét. On July 17, the “Monopoly” singer released the tracklist to Jaguar II — set to release on Aug. 25 — on Instagram. “I’m so happy to finally share this with you! Look at these FEATURES. screaming..what is life?!” Monét wrote on the post. Boasting 11 tracks, the album sees the singer trading vocals with Lucky Daye; KAYTRANADA ; Earth, Wind & Fire (!); and her two-year-old daughter Hazel . A star readying another young star for greatness? Love to see it.

These sonic breadcrumbs have been decadent offerings from Monét, who knows how to shape-shift her vocals to fit any production. With her impressively acing this skill across her new singles, there’s a chance it might continue on Jaguar II .

View on Instagram

The tracklist news comes shortly after Monét announced the dates to her Jaguar Tour on July 10. The now sold out excursion will kick off in early September, with her visiting cities such as Detroit, Houston, New York, Las Vegas, and Los Angeles.

Tickets for the tour went on sale Friday, July 14. That same day, the R&B it-Girl excitedly announced on Instagram it had sold out. “Y’all my mind is BLOWN!!! You sold out this entire tour in minutes. I’m gonna cryyyyy! I did not expect all this but I’m so happy you really like me,” she wrote at the time.

Victoria Monét performed at Spotify's 'RNBFirstNights' concert in March 2023.

The tour’s quick success didn’t shock fans, as many have been aware of her talent since her early days at Motown Records. And now, with a new set of eyes on her, Monét’s damn near unstoppable.

Check out all the details about Jaguar II and her sold out tour, below.

Jaguar II ’s Tracklist

Monét’s forthcoming album features several surprise collaborations.

See the full tracklist below:

  • “Smoke (Ft. Lucky Daye)”
  • “Smoke (Reprise)”

“On My Mama”

  • “I’m The One”
  • “Stop (Askin’ Me 4Shyt)”
  • “Hollywood (Ft. Earth, Wind & Fire and Hazel Monét)”

Pre-Order Info For Jaguar II

The Jaguar Tour Begins In The Fall

Victoria Monét’s glittery tour will kick off in Detroit, Michigan on Sept. 6, 2023.

Where Will Monét Visit On The Jaguar Tour?

After her debut visit to Detroit, Victoria Monét will travel to cities like New York, Atlanta, Houston, Las Vegas and Los Angeles. She’ll then close out in Chicago in late-October.

  • Oct. 22 in Chicago, IL at House of Blues

Victoria Monét will visit 21 cities on her upcoming 'Jaguar' tour.

What’s The Setlist For The Jaguar Tour?

It’s safe to assume she’ll perform both her Jaguar albums. The singer might show more love to Jaguar II , as it’ll release a month before the tour starts. So far, Monét has dropped three singles off her upcoming project: “Party Girls” with Buju Banton, the Lucky Daye-assisted “Smoke,” and “On My Mama.”

“Party Girls”

If any track needs to be in rotation, it needs to be “Party Girls.” This dancehall offering has a subtle waft of Beyoncé’s 2003 hit, “Baby Boy,” with a twinkle of Christina Millian’s infectious “Dip It Low.” They sonically exist in the same universe, and Monét’s velvety vocals will have you slow whining on the dancefloor (and at her upcoming show) throughout the fall.

The smoky flare on Monét and Lucky Daye’s duet still lives rent free in fans’ minds .

Like the icon she is, Monét interpolated the illest affirmation of all time (Chalie Boy’s 2009 gem “I Look Good) on “On My Mama.”

As for her first Jaguar project, fans might want to keep their ear on “A*s Like That” and “Touch Me.” There’s also “Coastin’,” her sun-soaked anthem that released nearly a year after the first album.

Victoria Monét Launches ‘Jaguar Tour’ in Washington, D.C.: Concert Review

The r&b singer and songwriter delivers an exceptional opening show..

When Victoria Monét announced the dates for her first headlining tour, The Jaguar Tour , the response was so overwhelming that tickets sold out within minutes, prompting her to upgrade to larger venues in certain cities and move a few dates around. Consequently, Washington, D.C., became the tour’s opening city. Monét kicked off her tour on Friday (Sept. 15) night at the historic Howard Theatre.

Around 8 p.m., the lights dimmed and R&B newcomer Alex Vaughn emerged on the stage rocking her signature short cut. The Prince George’s County, Maryland, native was greeted with thunderous applause and shouts from locals familiar with her work. The LVRN signee began her 20-minute set with her Rodney “Darkchild” Jerkins-produced single “So Be It.” Vaughn didn’t need to convince the audience to pay attention as they harmonized with her as she belted the lovelorn lyrics.

“It’s Friday. Y’all off work. Make some noise for yourselves. Make some noise for R&B,” Vaughn told the crowd after ending the opening number.

She continued her enticing set with a few more selections from her debut EP, The Hurtbook , including “Keep That Energy,” “IYKYK,” “Do You Ever,” and the fan-favorite “ Mirage .” The latter performance was a standout moment, where Vaughn flexed her operatic vocal range.

View this post on Instagram                         A post shared by @alexvaughn

Following Vaughn’s opening performance, crew members ushered to the stage and began decorating with tall trees and plants, creating a jungle-like ambiance. Around 9:15 p.m., the house lights dimmed again as band members made their way to the stage. The crowd’s excitement had them cheering in anticipation for the lady of the hour. Monét stealthily emerged on the stage, donning a brown hooded robe with a rhinestone jaguar emblem.

Once she reached her mic-stand, she dramatically ripped off the robe to unveil her glimmering two-piece ensemble. With her blonde hair flowing from the breeze of a stage fan in a Beyoncé-like manner, Monét opened her hour-long set with “Moment” from her 2020 JAGUAR EP.

She then segued to other JAGUAR cuts, including “Big Boss” and “Ass Like That.” The audience roared at the sound of Trillville’s “Some Cut,” signaling that they would get to witness Monét’s viral dance break that leads into another JAGUAR favorite, “Dive.”

After treating concertgoers to the first installment of JAGUAR, Monét eased into the sentimental ballad “How Does It Make You Feel,” lifted from her debut album, JAGUAR II . The audience collectively belted every word with all their might. Although the song was less than a month old, everyone sang along as if it has been around for years. ( JAGUAR II was released Aug. 25 via RCA Records .)

victoria monet tour website

Both JAGUAR II and JAGUAR are informed by retro soul stylings from the ‘60s and ‘70s. Shefittingingly incorporated The Supremes’ classic hit “Stop! In The Name of Love” ahead of her tell-off anthem “Stop (Askin’ Me 4Shyt)” from II. Towards the end of the song, Monét cheekily added, “And stop re-selling my tickets motherf*****rs,” which had the crowd laughing hysterically as if it were a comedy show. Monét’s dig was toward those who buy concert tickets just to resell them at a much higher price, leaving many fans with the dilemma of paying more than the ticket — if they can even get a hold of the tickets.

While the scent of marijuana was in the air all night, it was more potent when Monét performed her Lucky Daye-assisted single “ Smoke ,” as well as “Smoke (Reprise).” The stoners anthem had the venue perfumed with varying strains of weed — and yes, Monét had her puff too. After taking her hit, told the crowd, “I’m feeling sexy,” before transitioning to sensual numbers like “Touch Me” and “F.U.C.K.”

One can imagine how difficult it was for Monét to determine her setlist. While the tour is in support of her new album, it’s her first as a headliner and she has four other EPs and standalone singles that were released before the JAGUAR era. Midway through her set, Monét treated fans with a throwback medley of beloved cuts such as the new jack swing-inspired “ New Love ” from Life After Love, Pt. 2 , and her underrated bop “ Freak ” from Life After Love, Pt. 1 . She even performed her 2019 Ariana Grande collab “ Monopoly ” and 2021’s “ Coastin ’.”

victoria monet tour website

After “We Might Even Be Falling In Love (Interlude),” Monét exited the stage for a quick costume change. The band played a live rendition of OutKast’s “SpottieOttieDopaliscious” during the short intermission. Monét then returned donning a sparkling pinstripe suit and a wooden cane, a fitting ensemble for “Cadillac (A Pimp’s Anthem),” another JAGUAR II track. Monét and her dancers delivered slick choreography to the confidence-boosting anthem. Once Monét changed to another outfit, she returned on stage for a high-octane performance of her Kaytranada-produced jam “Alright,” before transitioning with a mashup of Beyoncé’s 2003 hit “Baby Boy” and her reggae-tinged “ Party Girls ” featuring Buju Banton. Towards the end of the show, Monét returned to JAGUAR to perform her disco-inspired “Experience” and ended with the title track.

When Monét and her dancers left the stage, the audience quickly noticed that one song in particular was missing from the setlist. In a matter of seconds, they began chanting the catchy hook of “ On My Mama .” “Okay, so you guys want ‘On My Mama,’ right?” Monét asked the crowd before returning to the stage to close the show with her first Billboard Hot 100-charting single. Best of all, Monét stayed true to the intricate choreography as seen in the official video, which has amassed six million views on YouTube.

Monét’s opening night of the Jaguar Tour was a resounding success. She poured her heart and soul into the performance to create an unforgettable experience for attendees. The Jaguar Tour ’s upcoming stops include Philadelphia, Charlotte, Atlanta, New Orleans and more.

Victoria Monet’s ‘Jaguar’ Tour Wows Detroit

victoria monet tour website

Victoria Monet performs her Jaguar Tour in Detroit Photo Credits: Antonia Seegars of @shotsofton

Victoria Monét’s Jaguar tour slinked into Detroit on Wednesday, October 25th at the Royal Oak Music Theatre,  and left it all on the floor at the jam-packed venue. Her mic was ON as she mounted the stage with the transcendent “Moment,” declaring for everyone that this was their “muthaf—– moment”! The singer/songwriter proved how her years spent writing for others such as Jhene Aiko and Ariana Grande, are finally coming to fruition through her own brand of seraphic melodies and stimulating wordplay.

Accompanied by a live band and two backup dancers, she ate every note while crushing ferocious dance moves. Delays due to the pandemic were worth the wait as she performed euphoric, yet whimsical grooves such as the title track from 2020’s Jaguar, the pleasurably pulsating, “Ass Like That,” as well as several fan favorites from the August 2023 follow-up, Jaguar II.

victoria monet tour website

Ready to go up, she belted out the reggae-tinged “Party Girls” and noted her love for sex while under the influence on “Smoke.” While perched on a stool, she lilted “Touch Me” with alluring sensuality.

It’s clear why many liken the multitalented siren to Beyoncé. She enthralled the crowd with enviable vocals and stamina as she sang the sassy “Stop Askin Me 4 Shyt,” and revealed her softer side with “How Does It Make You Feel,” which features string arrangements from Detroit’s own Maurice “Pirahnahead” Herd.

Monét showed respect for the legends who came before her by infusing dance moves reminiscent of Michael Jackson and The Supremes , noting the best soul music came out of Detroit.

She ended the magical night with “On My Mama,” the addictive anthem that currently has everyone and their mama in a chokehold.

The “We Might Even Be Falling In Love” singer returns to her hometown of Sacramento, CA for the finale of The Jaguar Tour, on November 2nd.

Victoria Monét was always willing to fight for her dream, even when it required some patience. Before she became a three-time Grammy nominated songwriter, she had to convince her mom to let her out of playing golf.

She was once a poetry-crazed freshman, formulating argument after argument about why she should participate in the performing arts program at Sheldon High School, instead of sports. But by the time she successfully made her case, auditions for dance class at her school were closed. When her sophomore year finally came, Monét made the cut and “became deeply obsessed” with hip hop and performing.

Nearly 17 years later, she is two months removed from the release of her debut album, Jaguar II. The project and its three singles, “Smoke,” “Party Girls” and “On My Mama,” helped her to the highest positions of her career on multiple charts.

It’s all coming together as Monét establishes herself as an R&B it girl — the realization of an enduring belief in the vision she had for herself before anyone else could see it.

Amid her continued success, there’s not much downtime.  Monét is almost halfway through her first headlining tour, which continues to bolster intrigue as she gives every show the flair of a seasoned global entertainer. As she spoke to The OBSERVER from her tour bus during a 13-hour travel day from Denver, she provided a candid rundown of her usual schedule.

Before hopping in front of a crowd in the evenings, she does vocal lessons, sound check, glam, meet and greets, radio and anything else imaginable. And she’s doing it all while raising her two-year-old daughter, Hazel, who was born in February of 2021.

When Monét returns to her hometown on Oct. 9 to take the stage at Ace of Spades, reminders of her roots and the impact of motherhood will bring her back to when it all began.

Even during a normal show, Monét can’t perform “On My Mama” without thinking of Sacramento and her mother, L’Tanya Chestang. The hit single samples Chalie Boy’s 2009 hit “I Look Good.” It was the first song Monét wrote after welcoming her daughter. The hook, “I put that on my mama, on my hood, I look fly, I look good,” resonated with her as a mantra while she struggled with postpartum depression.

Once it was time to shoot the music video, her first thought was to film it in her hometown. Since it would’ve been expensive to fly everyone out to Northern California, she ended up shooting in Los Angeles where her crew is largely based. Chestang and Hazel made an appearance in the video and will be at her Sacramento tour stop as well, per her request.

“It just feels very full circle,” Monét said.

She was born in Atlanta and moved to Sacramento when she was just three years old. She believes her whole family decided to migrate from the south because her great grandfather was in the military and got stationed in California. Her great grandmother was a writer who gave speeches in Mobile, Alabama and owned a funeral home, Monét said.

Growing up, Monét’s mom exposed her to a vast array of music at home and during travels to New Orleans and Alabama. The things she didn’t hear that way, she heard on the dance scene or in the city.

“Sacramento is such a diverse place,” Monét said, noting different “odes to home” in her work over the years. One of her examples came from the music video for “Friend U Can Keep,” which reminds her of Old Sacramento and downtown’s western aesthetic. Meanwhile, the “On My Mama,” video is filled with references to Southern Black culture and took social media by storm when it was released in August.

Monét left the state’s capital for Los Angeles in pursuit of her musical goals at 20 years old. She has only visited Sacramento for holidays and work since. She remembers the year she left Northern California easily. It was 2009 — seven months before her maternal grandmother, Cassaundria Lovett, died.

“That’s why I feel like I have had an angel my whole L.A. experience,” Monét said.

Shortly after she made it to Los Angeles, Monét signed a deal with Motown records to join a girl group in 2010 that was dropped before releasing any music. She viewed being part of the label of the 60’s as something that would make her late grandma proud, but it didn’t take her long to carve her own lane in the industry by using her pen for other artists.

Her long creative relationship with pop star Ariana Grande is widely known, but her writing credits extend well beyond it. Monét’s resume features work for artists including Brandy, Chris Brown, Jhene Aiko, Chrisette Michelle and more.

After years of making an impact in the industry behind the scenes, her August release is a confident entrance into the spotlight.

The project follows the Jaguar EP she released in July 2020. Like much of Monét’s music, all 11 tracks from her latest release take a surreal voyage beyond her native genre into disco, pop and reggae. The album features Lucky Daye, Buju Banton and Kaytranada.

Hazel also appears on “Hollywood,” making her musical debut with Earth, Wind and Fire. The collaboration of raising her with the “extreme help” of her partner, John Gaines, and Chestang is one Monét takes quite seriously. While the family will bring Hazel to Sacramento for the third time in her life to watch Monét, they’ve built their own traditions in Los Angeles. Monét’s mom is based in Elk Grove but visits frequently.

“She’s at an age where she wants to do everything that we’re doing,” Monét said of her daughter, who currently attends a Montessori-style charter school. Hazel can already use a pen well and paint ceramics, according to her mom. She has also been heard holding a pleasant tune during soundcheck with her mom via social media.

If Hazel’s creative inclinations remain, Monét is ready to write her daughter any song she might want to sing. But no matter what path Hazel chooses, she’ll have her mom’s support.

Monét also offered encouragement to anyone that’s chasing a goal. When she dreams at night, she wakes up, writes them down, and often sees them come true.

“Let God and the universe know that it’s something that you want and that you’re willing to work for it,” Monét said. “Then you just have to wait for it to flow to you. Not being stagnant while you’re waiting, obviously, you want to work towards it.  But you just have to be open and ready when it comes.”

Here Is Victoria Monét’s ‘The Jaguar Tour’ Setlist

Megan Armstrong

Victoria Monét’s Jaguar II was described by Uproxx ‘s Wongo Okon as “ a dazzling triumph ,” and that opinion was widely shared — so much so that fans were distraught because Monét wasn’t among the featured performers during the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards on September 12. That prompted a response from Monét herself.

“I see your advocation for me to have performed tonight and I’m so grateful to you!! Sincerely!” she wrote on X (formerly known as Twitter) in response to her fans’ (justified) outrage. “My team was told it is ‘too early in my story’ for that opportunity so we will keep working!”

She continued, “I’m grateful for YOU, for my tour starting this Friday and for the ability to see some of my favorite people perform tonight and receive the love they so deserve!!! [Brown heart emoji, prayer-hands emoji] For me, it’s part of the story…and in Gods time.”

As mentioned, Monét’s The Jaguar Tour is underway and quenching anyone’s thirst to see her perform. Her next scheduled date is at Joy Theater New Orleans in New Orleans, Louisiana on Thursday, September 21.

And there some stories to be told during the Moscow metro tour! The deepest station - Park Pobedy - is 84 metres under the ground with the world longest escalator of 140 meters. Parts of the so-called Metro-2, a secret strategic system of underground tunnels, was used for its construction.

During the Second World War the metro itself became a strategic asset: it was turned into the city's biggest bomb-shelter and one of the stations even became a library. 217 children were born here in 1941-1942! The metro is the most effective means of transport in the capital.

Fun facts from our Moscow Metro Tours:

From the very first days of its existence, the Moscow Metro was the object of civil defense, used as a bomb shelter, and designed as a defense for a possible attack on the Soviet Union.

At a depth of 50 to 120 meters lies the second, the coded system of Metro-2 of Moscow subway, which is equipped with everything you need, from food storage to the nuclear button.

According to some sources, the total length of Metro-2 reaches over 150 kilometers.

The Museum was opened on Sportivnaya metro station on November 6, 1967. It features the most interesting models of trains and stations.

Coffee Ring

The first scheme of Moscow Metro looked like a bunch of separate lines. Listen to a myth about Joseph Stalin and the main brown line of Moscow Metro.

Zodiac Metro

According to some astrologers, each of the 12 stops of the Moscow Ring Line corresponds to a particular sign of the zodiac and divides the city into astrological sector.

Astrologers believe that being in a particular zadiac sector of Moscow for a long time, you attract certain energy and events into your life.

Paleontological finds

Red marble walls of some of the Metro stations hide in themselves petrified inhabitants of ancient seas. Try and find some!

  • Every day each car in  Moscow metro passes  more than 600 km, which is the distance from Moscow to St. Petersburg.
  • Moscow subway system is the  5th in the intensity  of use (after the subways of Beijing, Tokyo, Seoul and Shanghai).
