Spring in Panama City Beach: March, April & May

quiet beach on west end of PCB

Springtime in Panama City Beach is a gorgeous time of year.  Starting in March the average temperature is 72 degrees,  warming up in April to about 77 degrees and in May the average high is in the low 80s.  March kicks off Spring Break and marks the beginning of wonderful weather in PCB.

Spring is also the least rainy time of year so if you want to have a better chance of enjoying the sunshine and spending lots of time outdoors springtime is a great bet.  By visiting Panama City Beach in spring time you’re also avoiding the most muggy and humid summertime months.

Summer in Panama City Beach: June, July & August

enjoying a pineapple drink near pier park in pcb

Summertime in Panama City Beach is HOT! Average daily temperatures are in the 80s to 90s and you can definitely expect humidity. Something that’s great about summer time in PCB is that the lows are still in the 70s so you can really enjoy the day’s warmth from morning til night. If you’re not a fan of extreme high heat, you’ll love that PCB very rarely gets above the mid 90s.

Summertime is the peak season in Panama City Beach, but did you know it’s also the rainiest time of year? It doesn’t mean that summertime isn’t a great time to take a trip but you can definitely expect to have showers and sprinkles on most days.

Things To Do in Summer in PCB

Summer is the quintessential time to visit the gorgeous beaches of PCB and make memories. Below are some of the unique seasonal events and cool things happening during summertime:

  • Pepsi Gulf Coast Jam is an annual country music event that happens yearly in PCB in early June
  • If you love hot air balloons like I do, you’ll definitely want to check out the Panama City Beach Balloon Festival which is a newer event and occurs in late June
  • The city hosts an outdoor Summer Concert Series every Tuesday at Aaron Bessant Park in June, July and August.  The huge outdoor Amphitheater and central location in PCB make this a can’t-miss event
  • In nearby Apalachicola (which is about a 45-minute scenic drive from PCB) you can check out the Forgotten Coast Sea Turtle Festival which happens at the end of June
  • July is all about Independence Day in Panama City Beach where you’ll be wowed by the largest display of fireworks on the Gulf Coast! The city of PCB sets off fireworks from multiple piers on Independence Day after the sun goes down
  • The Summer Concert Series continues every Tuesday at Aaron Bessant Park in June, July and August.  The huge outdoor Amphitheater and central location in PCB make this a can’t-miss event

  •  The Florida Pride Festival also happens in early August in nearby Panama City
  • The World Water Ski Championships have also been known to make a stop in PCB in late August

Fall in Panama City Beach: September, October & November

clear blue water in panama city beach

My personal favorite time of year to visit Panama City Beach is fall! The months of September, October, and November have fantastic weather. In fact, September in Panama City Beach still feels like summertime with highs in the mid-80s. October and November start to cool down a little bit but it’s still warm enough to be in your swimsuit at the beach because the highs are still in the 70s and sometimes even warmer.

The raininess of summertime also tapers off so you have more sunshine and cloudy days instead of dealing with the rain showers and the humidity that summertime brings. It’s a really comfortable time of year to spend time outdoors especially if  you’re not a fan of muggy, hot days.

Things To Do in Fall in PCB

Fall is, in my opinion, the most ideal time to make a trip to Panama City Beach. Warm weather minus the crowds = beach perfection in my book! Below are some of the unique seasonal events and cool things happening during the fall months in PCB:

  • The PCB Fishing Rodeo takes place in late September and features competitions in  multiple categories and the chance to win prizes
  • Sand Jam Music Festival happens in late September and features alternative rock
  • Pirates of the High Seas Fest is a yearly event happening every October that features pirate ships, parades, costumes, and treasure
  • The biggest lobster festival in the region, Schooner’s Lobster Festival and Tournament is held in mid-October
  •  Panama City Beach Oktoberfest also happens during this time of year and features German food, music and vendors
  • In nearby Panama City you can check out the Hay Bale Trail downtown, where local businesses decorate hay bales to celebrate Halloween
  • The Emerald Coast Cruizn Car Show happens twice yearly in March and November
  • Panama City Beach hosts a Veterans Day Parade every year on November 11th
  • Beach Home For The Holidays is a fun  Christmas event that happens at the end of November and features a giant Christmas tree, outdoor concerts, food trucks, s’mores and of course, Santa Claus

Winter in Panama City Beach: December, January & February

pier park in pcb

If cooler weather is more your style, consider visiting Panama City Beach in wintertime. The average high in December, January, and February is in the 60s and the low is typically in the 50s. Occasionally it drops down into the 40s at night, which may surprise some people. PCB, as compared to other parts of Florida, has more distinct seasonal changes. Winter in Panama City Beach is cool and comfortable although it’s not the ideal time if you want to wear shorts, flip-flops, and swimsuits.

One positive of winter is that it’s less rainy and it’s considered the off-season, so it’s less crowded. If you are searching for quiet and peaceful desolate beaches where you’re the only one walking then winter time might be the time for you. Keep in mind that winter is typically the cloudiest  season in Panama City Beach But also the least humid. Many local restaurants close for the season during winter and reopen again in springtime.

Things To Do in Winter in PCB

If you want to avoid the crowds and enjoy winter in Florida, this season is a great time to enjoy Panama City Beach. Below are some of the unique seasonal events and cool things happening during the winter months in PCB:

  • One of the last events that occurs in December at the end of the year is the PCB marathon and 5K
  • The New Year’s Eve ball drop takes place on December 31st at Pier Park where fireworks and thousands of beach balls drop to ring in the New Year

  • In nearby Walton County the 30A Songwriters Festival happens in January

  • The PCB Mardi Gras and Music Festival returns in 2022 and is one of the most loved events in Bay County Florida

No it does not rain everyday in Panama City Beach, however if you’re visiting during the rainy season you can expect showers many times throughout a typical week. It doesn’t mean that it will rain all day long but at least a portion of the day there will be rain. If you’re trying to avoid the rain, try to plan your trip during the drier months of October through April.

It depends what your idea of cold is! The coldest months are wintertime so in December, January, and February and the lows can get into the 40s and the highs are inthe 50s and 60s. Panama City Beach is the busiest during peak season which is in the summer months of June, July and August. I would argue that March is equally as busy because of spring break.

When is the least busy time to visit PCB?

Winter time is the least busy time however it’s the coldest time to visit Panama City Beach. If you’re trying to find a less crowded time of year that’s still warm, I would highly recommend fall. You can still enjoy sunshine and warm weather, and the gulf waters are warm too but it’s not peak season so you’re avoiding crowds and higher prices. The off-season in PCB is considered November through February.

Where are the quietest beaches in PCB?

If you’re looking for solitude, the best place to go is either Shell Island (which is only accessible by boat) or easier to get to but still just as beautiful and peaceful is St. Andrews State Park. If you’re staying centrally located in Panama City Beach or on the west side, I would recommend the  beaches near Sunnyside or Laguna Beach.

Panama City Beach   Travel Guide

Why Go To Panama City Beach

Panama City Beach is the quintessential Florida getaway. Pearly white beaches? Check. Subtropical climate? Check. Bottlenose dolphins playing in the surf? Check. Situated in northwest Florida, about 47 miles east of Destin and around 100 miles southwest of Tallahassee , Panama City Beach is perhaps best known as a college spring break destination. But after new laws were introduced banning alcohol on the beach during the month of March, the city quickly saw a decrease in the bacchanalia – great news for families and couples in search of an affordable, warm-weather escape.

Though the alabaster beaches (all 27 miles of them) are what initially draw many to this vacation haven, that's not all Panama City Beach has going for it. Bordered on either side by two state parks ( St. Andrews and Camp Helen) and home to one of the largest sport fishing fleets in the world, not to mention one of the world's highest concentration of bottlenose dolphins, PCB is a nature and wildlife lover's paradise.

Panama City Beach Travel Tips

Best months to visit.

The best time to visit Panama City Beach is from May through October. Though the area boasts an average of 320 days of sunshine per year, late spring, summer and early fall offer some of the warmest air and water temperatures. Plus, by avoiding a visit in March or April, you'll dodge the deluge of college students who descend on the area's ivory sands every year for spring break. You'll save on lodging prices during the area's low season (November to February), but it'll likely be too chilly to enjoy the ocean.

Weather in Panama City Beach

Data sourced from the National Climatic Data Center

What You Need to Know

Alcohol is allowed at the beach As long as it's not in a glass container and it's not March. Alcohol is not permitted at the beach during the month of March.

You'll need a fishing license Unless you're fishing from a licensed pier or a charter boat operated by a licensed captain, you must have this documentation. You can purchase out-of-state licenses at any local Wal-Mart.

Heed the double red flag This beach signal means the water is dangerous and closed to the public. If you ignore the warning, you could be arrested.

How to Save Money in Panama City Beach

Avoid spring break College crowds descend on the area's white sand beaches every March. If you still want to plan a spring trip, dodge the rowdy coeds and spiked hotel rates by visiting in late March or early April.

Cut coupons The Panama City Beach visitors bureau offers deals on its website . Check to see if any apply to your itinerary.

Consider a vacation rental If you're traveling with a big group, renting a house or apartment could be less expensive than booking several hotel rooms. Plus, many are located right on the beach.

What to Eat

It should come as no surprise that seafood is the main ingredient many PCB menus are built around. Whether it's chargrilled grouper, Apalachicola oysters or Gulf shrimp stuffed with blue crab, you'll have your pick of delicious sea creatures to choose from. And you don't even have to go to a restaurant to enjoy the city's bounty: some of the best eateries are actually seafood markets that steam and season their freshest catches right in front of you. Anderson Seafood Market and Buddy's Seafood Market both come recommended by recent visitors.

If you're looking for a more formal environment, Saltwater Grill (which boasts a 25,000-gallon tropical saltwater aquarium inside the restaurant) and Capt. Anderson's Restaurant & Waterfront Market both received high marks from recent diners. Firefly is another local and traveler favorite thanks to its unique setting: the restaurant is arranged around a giant lit-up oak tree.

You'll also find plenty of casual beachfront eateries (try Schnoors or Sharky's ). Though they cater mainly to tourists, it's hard to deny their prime locations, especially if you want to catch a classic Panama City Beach sunset.

With an average of 320 days of sunshine per year, it's no wonder Panama City Beach is a popular Florida vacation haven.

If warm weather, sky-grazing rooftop bars and glorious biodiversity tickle your fancy, then the right time to visit Panama City  is...any time.

Panama is a tale of two oceans – and two seasons, wet and dry. Just 9 degrees above the equator and outside the hurricane belt, the country’s position makes it a sun-drenched destination year-round.

Its capital is a sophisticated metropolis containing a tropical rainforest, two Unesco World Heritage Sites and astonishing feats of engineering, among other treasures. As you plan your trip to explore it all, use our guide to find the best time for your vacation to Panama City.

Mid-December to April is the best time for hikes, beaches and festivals

In the drier of Panama’s two seasons, the temperature doesn’t vary drastically from month to month, and downpours are both less frequent and less temperamental.

Also known as “summer” ( verano ), the dry season runs from mid-December through April. These months coincide with increased demand and higher prices as snowbirds jet in en masse for blue skies, warmer weather and epic adventures across the country.

Panama City is a fantastic base from which to explore the country’s landscapes, countless aquamarine beaches and archipelagos. (Panama has more than 1000 camera-ready islands.)

Within the capital itself, there’s much to see and do when the rains stay away. Those with a penchant for the past will be thrilled to discover ruins, recovered treasure and well-preserved buildings on a stroll through the historic district of Casco Viejo .

Behold this modern city’s glass and concrete skyline from a sleek rooftop bar – of which there are many – or wave at ships passing through the world-renowned  Panama Canal . The tropical climate and shower-free days lend themselves perfectly to sightseeing, alfresco dining, bayfront walks, bike rides and hikes.

Panama City is the only world capital with a tropical rainforest within its city limits. Head to the 573-acre  Parque Natural Metropolitano to see toucans and motmots soaring majestically above, or meet monkeys and iguanas scurrying around the trees.

May to mid-December is excellent for whale watching, surfing and national celebrations

Though summer-style weather lasts all year long in Panama, the wet season between May and mid-December is referred to as “winter” or “green season.” Since it gets awfully humid during this period, it’s the cheapest time to visit.

Locals assert that Panama has two varying climates on each coast. The Caribbean coast experiences more showers, while the Pacific coast – where Panama City is situated – has fewer.

The upside to Panama City’s wet season is its predictability, as rains begin gradually and intensify later in the season. Throughout these wetter months, as the sun looms and tropical flowers bloom, it’s still possible to enjoy outdoor pursuits with a bit of planning and organization.

While days typically start out sunny, you’ll need an umbrella for sideways showers between 2pm and 5pm. Keep in mind that it seldom rains all day, and storms often leave as fast as they come. (Also note that taxi fares surge dramatically during these torrential outbursts.) Hikes at Parque Natural Metropolitano or Cerro Ancon might also be more challenging.

In the evenings, you can stargaze and listen to the soothing hum of the Bay of Panama from Cinta Costera, the scenic waterfront boardwalk, or from an inviting rooftop restaurant. Nights, though cooler than during the dry season, remain lovely and pleasant.

Overall, the wet season is the best time to snag deals and avoid large crowds.

How to spend a perfect weekend in Panama City

Enjoy jazz music in January

Check out a who’s-who of the international jazz music scene during the  Panama Jazz Festival , a cultural event that’s been sweetly serenading the capital for two decades. January is also the best time to visit Boquete in the province of Chiriquí . If you want to taste Geisha coffee – called “the Champagne of coffees” – it’s produced here during the Flower and Coffee Festival.

Key events : Panama Jazz Festival, Feria de las Flores y del Café (Flower and Coffee Festival)

Celebrate Carnaval in February

To see the city at its driest, busiest and most spirited, go in February during Carnaval, an unforgettable multi-day spectacle with flamboyant costumes, music and general jolly mayhem. February is also one of the best times to visit the paradisiacal  San Blas Archipelago , where the fine weather will make it easy to visit its 365 dreamy islands.

Key events : Carnaval (starts four days before Ash Wednesday; this can fall in March), Micro Brew Fest , Bocas Invitacional

Spring breakers invade in March

North American students on spring break join the throngs of sunseekers in Panama each March. If Easter falls in this month, expect shop and business closures and increased demand for accommodations.

April is the height of t-shirt weather and the perfect time to head somewhere with immaculate white sand, azure blue water and lush green forests.

May brings the start of the wet season

The wet season begins. When it pours in Panama City, travelers can seek refuge indoors at one of the city’s best museums: the Frank Gehry-designed  BioMuseo , the world’s only museum dedicated to biodiversity. Shoppers can stay dry and find the latest fashions at one of many shopping complexes, such as Albrook Mall , the largest in the Americas.

Key event : Labor Day

World Pride Panama takes place in June

If you arrive in June, you’ll be just in time for World Pride Panama . During this annual rainbow-hued party, revelers celebrate events at specific nightclubs and processions along Cinta Costera and in the old town.

It operates 365 days a year; the best time to visit the Panama Canal at the  Miraflores Visitor Center is first thing in the morning, just after it opens.

Key events : Panamá Fashion Week, Feria Internacional del Mar

Head to Portobelo in October

If you’re in Panama in October, consider a trip to Portobelo for the Festival del Cristo Negro, during which an effigy of a Black Jesus Christ is proudly paraded around the Caribbean port city. The rains persist throughout the month, which can offer a respite from the often-punishing Panamanian heat.

Key event : Festival del Cristo Negro

November is for local celebrations

Depending on your budget and intended itinerary, November can be the best or worst month to visit Panama. Panamanians are serious about enjoying themselves – and since the entire month is jam-packed with national holidays, many businesses, banks and stores in the capital close.

Urbanites flee to cool off at beaches and waterfalls, leaving behind something of a ghost city. If you’ll be joining them for the revelry, you’ll need to secure lodging as early as possible.

Key events : Panamá Cocktail Week; Independence from Colombia (Nov 3); Flag Day (Nov 4); Colón Day (Nov 5); First Call for Independence (Nov 10); Independence from Spain (Nov 28)

Hotel occupancy increases in December

Prior reservations and a generous budget are obligatory if you’re traveling to Panama during December’s holiday season. Hotel occupancy and rates are high as the delightful dry season returns.

Key events : Christmas, New Year

The climate in Panama City Beach is generally pretty humid all-year-round with late spring, summer, and early fall (April, May, and October) being the best time to visit for comfortable beach temperatures and breezy Florida nights.

If visiting Panama City Beach during the winter season—from November to February— you can find savings on lodging and airfare by visiting in this slower season but the ocean temperatures do drop, making it generally too chilly to enjoy the beaches. March and April are in high demand, due to the influx of spring breakers flocking to the area.

The winter months are relatively cooler, with highs in the mid-60s (15°C) and lows in the mid-40s (4°C). Rainfall is generally short-lived, so you shouldn’t have to worry about any torrents spoiling your vacation.

Attractions, things to see and do in panama city beach, beach, please.

Panama City Beach, reputed by many to have some of the best beaches in the United States, hence its, “The World’s Most Beautiful Beaches” nickname.

Being from the Caribbean, I’m rarely impressed by the best beach labels that are often thrown around. However, the finely-crushed sand and emerald green waters, along Panama City Beach 27 miles of sugary-white coastline caught my attention—and certainly lived up to its reputation.

Panama City Beach Pier and Lounge Chairs

The relaxing, chilled vibe will have you yearning to set up camp along the 27 miles of shoreline to lounge, soak up the sun or take part in water activities such as snorkeling, parasailing, sailing tours, and more.

Panama City Beach Florida Surf Board

Whether you’re looking for an action-packed day or a relaxing, secluded getaway, there are hotspots along the coastline that cater to all vibes. My favorite beach areas are:

  • St. Andrews State Park
  • Panama City Beach
  • Crooked Island

Escape to Shell Island

Hop on the ferry to Shell Island (Peninsula, really!) to see Florida in one of its most natural forms . If you are a nature enthusiast, you will fall in love with the island’s coastal pine groves, warm sand dunes, and a tranquil freshwater lake.

The island is so remote, that you won’t find a trash bin or a food kiosk on the island (so make sure you eat before you go and take your trash with you back to the mainland!)

Thanks to its quiet, undisturbed nature, the island is home to shorebirds, deer, ghost crabs, green sea turtles, and all kinds of coastal creatures.

It’s also a favorite spot among the locals and tourists who go to the island looking for relaxation, snorkeling activities, and fishing excursions.

Access to the pier is $3 for a spectator day pass. If you’re looking to fish, the daily pass is $6 which includes the fishing license.

St. Andrew State Park

The city may be known for its dazzling beachscapes, but it’s also home to some of the best state parks and nature spots. St. Andrew State Park, for example, stretches over 1,000 acres and is home to incredible wildlife, hiking trails, and remote beach access.

It’s one of the best spots for families. You can also participate in activities here such as surfing, snorkeling, fishing, boating, and camping.

Camp Helen State Park

Hike through the Oak Canopy Trail, where you’re likely to see deer, squirrels, bald eagles, and kingfishers.

Conservation Park

Another local gem where you can hike the extensive trails, bike, or stroll through cypress groves and wetlands.

The expansive woodland covering about 2,900 acres offers fantastic outdoor recreational activities including fishing, hiking, bicycling, and looping around the trail systems with boardwalks scattered around the park.

Panama City Beach Florida Conservation Park

If you only have time to choose one of these amazing options, I personally recommend a visit to Conservation Park, especially if you’re fond of the outdoors.

Hiking through the extensive trails surrounded by the colossal cypress trees was one of my most cherished experiences in Panama City Beach.

Tips for visiting Conservation Park:

  • Pick up a park map at the main entrance before heading out to the trails.
  • Wear proper sun protection ( wide brim hat , sunscreen, and stay hydrated).
  • Be prepared for the heat and humidity.
  • Don’t forget to bring your binoculars for spectacular wildlife viewing .
  • Bonus, both parking and admission are free!

Shipwreck Island Waterpark

If you’re the type that enjoys having fun on the water, Shipwreck Island Waterpark is the spot for you. Enjoy splashing, meandering, water tipping, zooming, and raging with slides catered to various age groups. The lazy river and the wave pool are popular amongst the kids.

Panama City Beach Tours

You’ll find plenty of boat tours designed for families, including the Sea Dragon Pirate Cruise, a swashbuckling mission of the very finest. Or for a unique, thrilling adventure, book the family for a chartered helicopter tour and see the coastline from above!

Restaurants – Where to Eat in Panama City Beach

As a first-time visitor to Panama City Beach, you may find yourself slightly overwhelmed by the vast amount of restaurants to choose from as well. First things first, if your appetite is whet by the thought of blackened snapper, chargrilled grouper, or seared mahi-mahi, you’re in for a real treat!

Panama City Beach has earned its reputation in seafood, oftentimes being referred to as ‘the seafood capital of the south’. As a bonus, most of the restaurants run right along the beach, so you can expect spectacular seaside views while you eat. Two of the best restaurants for fresh fish are Grand Marlin , and Schooners , one of Panama City Beach’s oldest restaurants.

But that’s hardly the extent of PCB’s smorgasbord of cuisines to choose from. A mixture of both casual and upscale restaurants, you’ll find everything from sushi to steakhouses and barbeque joints, and, of course, seafood eateries featuring ice-cold beer and freshly-caught sea fare. From power salads drizzled with homemade dressings, Caribbean jerk sandwiches, or Vietnamese delicacies, it all can be found in Panama City Beach.

Whatever type of meal you’re hungry for, there’s a good possibility that it’s just a short walk down the strip to find it. Many restaurants even offer live bands while you enjoy your meal. The Saltwater Grill , for example, features live music Thursdays and Fridays, all year round.

Panama City Beach Florida Bruster's Ice Cream

If you saved room for dessert, be sure to check out Amore Donuts or Bruster’s Real Ice Cream for a sweet and tasty treat. I would do almost anything for Bruster’s fresh-made daily butter pecan and mint chocolate chip flavors. Yum!

Panama City Beach, Florida, is the ultimate dream holiday spot for many people. With its flowing palm trees and sugar sand beaches, this tropical paradise attracts a large number of visitors from all over the world throughout the year.

You’ll understand why so many people consider it the ultimate vacation spot: There is never a shortage of things to do in Panama City Beach! For every sort of traveler, this coastal town is an outdoor playground full of attractions and activities!

Lying across the crystal-clear waters of the Gulf of Mexico in Northwest Florida, Panama City Beach is a hotspot for vacationers, and it’s easy to see why. The long stretch of sugar-white beaches is thriving with beach bums of all ages throughout the year. Couples come here for a sun-kissed honeymoon, families to spend quality time together and young souls to celebrate a long weekend. And then there was me. I was here to find the hottest attractions and best things to do in Panama City Beach, affectionately called PCB. It wasn’t hard to do.

The Best Attractions, Activities & Things To Do in Panama City Beach (PCB) Florida

1. indulge at the the yard milkshake bar.

How’d you like a milkshake with a whole cupcake sticking out of the top or an entire waffle peeking out of a mound of whipped cream? At The Yard Milkshake Bar , you will not believe your eyes as you are dazzled with some of the craziest treats. They’re not just for kids!  Whether you choose the Cookie Monster (that was my choice), the Cereal Killer or any of the other decadent desserts, I dare you to eat the whole thing.

Tip: We went at around 12:30 p.m. on a Sunday, and the line was about a half-hour long (with a 20 minute wait after ordering). But, by the time we left the place at around 2 p.m., there was no line at all.

2. Get an Epic View from the SkyWheel Ferris Wheel

Get ready for your breath to be taken away with the spectacular view of Panama City Beach on board the 53-meter SkyWheel ! The gondola ride offers a relaxing experience and is perfect for taking that Instagram-worthy photo (or video!).

If you want to bring things up a notch, their VIP pass gives you free drinks (alcoholic or non-alcoholic), double the flight time, and the chance to ride their VIP gondola. It has a glass-bottom floor, giving you more opportunities to take that perfect shot!

Take in the View from the SkyWheel Ferris Wheel

3. Take a Boat Ride to Shell Island

Shell Island is a seven-mile island on the Florida Emerald Coast with picturesque white sand beaches. It’s fun for locals and visitors of Panama City Beach to rent a pontoon and spend the day enjoying the sand and sun. Plus, there’s a strong possibility of seeing some dolphins along the way!

It is a beautiful barrier island punctuated with magnificent sand dunes and coastal sage scrub. The beach is flourishing with creatures, including shorebirds, turtles and deer. While there, I found lots of shells (of course), plenty of secluded spots to relax and even a starfish — the perfect way to spend a lazy day.

Our transportation to the island was provided by Lagoon Pontoon . We stocked it with goodies for lunch, plenty of drinks (a cooler filled with Fresca!) and the beach essentials. They provided the coolest ride with all the safety accouterments onboard and two slides that attached to the back.

4. Believe It or Not at Ripley’s

Ripley’s Believe It or Not! is the go-to place in Panama City Beach for those who want to explore the strange and unbelievable. Their ‘Odditorium’ houses bizarre exhibits from around the globe that people of all ages will enjoy.

Their 7D Moving Theater provides an immersive experience with its 3D movies and motion seats. The Marvelous Mirror Maze will challenge your eyes with its maze of infinity mirrors, with a treasure waiting at the end. If you’re up to the challenge, the Impossible Laser Race will test your skills in navigating your way through laser beams like in spy movies.

In the words of Dean Cain: Unbelievable? Believe it!

5. Get a Finn’s Original Fish Taco

It’s always taco time at Finn’s Island Style Grub , home of Finn’s original fish tacos. The ahi taco and their signature fish taco are some of the best, but there are plenty of others to choose from at this food-truck-style eatery. While you’re waiting for your order, pop into their barista bar next door and order a Black Salt Mocha. You won’t be disappointed!

What better way to enjoy your beach trip than indulge yourself with fresh seafood, and Pineapple Willy’s restaurant won’t disappoint! Boasting a wide variety of seafood dishes, from fried oysters to grilled shrimp to fileted Mahi-Mahi, your mouth and tummy will keep coming for more.

And to add to your overall experience, you can also enjoy the live music performances while having a drink at Willy’s Pier Bar. All in all, this is something that you definitely should try!

7. Take a Dolphin Sunset Cruise

Dolphins and sunsets — it doesn’t get much better than that. Island Time Sailing will take you on a 2-hour cruise that swishes you through Grand Lagoon and onto the Gulf of Mexico in search for Flipper and his friends — we saw plenty dolphins on our cruise! Grab a drink and a snack, then end the evening with a beautiful sunset across the emerald waters.

8. See a Show at Todd Herendeen Theatre

Looking for a night of classic rock & country music? Then don’t miss the ‘Tribute to the Legends of Music’ performances of National Recording Artist Todd Herendeen and his band at the Todd Herendeen Theatre , performed several nights a week.

You can walk in at any time to enjoy the show, and you can also bring your own beer or wine! Dinners are only available through reservations, so make sure to book in advance if in case you’re planning to have your dinner here as well.

9. Have a Beach Bonfire

Cornhole, s’mores and a cooler filled with adult beverages, plus a bonfire on the Panama City Beach oceanfront— that’s what you are going to get with Endless Beach Rentals . The company swoops in and sets up EVERYTHING for you (from chairs to hammocks to a stocked cooler), then they come and clean everything up. No fuss, no muss. Your only job is to show up and have fun!

10. Enjoy at Swampy Jack’s Wongo Adventure

Get ready to join Swampy Jack’s Wongo Adventure on his adventures over the world in this premier theme park destination! The theme park features different rides like the Swamp Ape, Eye of the Kraken, and much more. Each ride gives its own one-of-a-kind enjoyable experience, with some paying homage to classic rides that people enjoyed in Panama City Beach (with their own added twist!).

Feeling a bit more competitive? You can also try the Marrakesh Road Rally and race against other people around the track in different race modes. And did I mention that you can have a Mario Kart-like experience in their Power-Up race mode?

Note: they are only open seasonally, so check their website before your visit!

11. Get Donuts at the Iconic Thomas’ Donuts & Snack Shop

Forget the breakfast omelettes and pancakes, because at the family-owned Thomas’ Donuts & Snack Shack it’s all about the fluffy dunkers. It is a haven for donut lovers! They have everything from the classic glazed to key lime filled. I can vouch for the red velvet cake. And the chocolate sprinkle. And the cinnamon twist. Don’t judge.

They also serve a handful of other breakfast items, like muffins, biscuits and breakfast sandwiches.

FYI: There is almost always a line in the morning, so get there really early or plan on waiting. We arrived at 10: a.m. on the weekend, and the queue was about 20 people deep.

12. Have an Animal Adventure at ZooWorld Panama City Beach

Get up close and personal with the wildlife at ZooWorld Zoological and Botanical Conservatory . Home to hundreds of exotic animals, from kangaroos to lions to sloths and so much more, this park will take you on an adventure trip around the world!

You also get to experience petting and feeding animals like lemurs and baby bearded dragons, not to mention the free kisses that you will get from the giraffes :) This is one experience you can’t miss!

13. Walk Russell-Fields City Pier

The Russell-Fields City Pier sits at the end of Pier Park and stretches 1,500 feet out into the Gulf of Mexico. You can pay a small fee ($3) to be able to take the short stroll to the end. It is worth it!

You can also get a nice view of the pier (and some great fish tacos) by sitting on the patio of Hook’d Pier Bar & Grill.

14. Go Sightseeing at Sea Dragon Pirate Cruise

Board the Sea Dragon on a voyage with Capt. “Fearless” Phil and his friendly pirate crew! Though the activities on board are more geared towards kids, adults will enjoy the whole sightseeing tour from start to finish. If you are lucky, you will get to see dolphins as well!

For a more scenic experience, you can book the sunset cruise (which costs a few extra dollars). Yummy snacks like hotdogs & candies and drinks for both kids and adults are available on the ship.

15. Do a Tasting at Panama City Beach Winery

Panama City Beach Winery specializes in fruit wines and is the only registered citrus winery in the United States. Their wines are made with 100 percent real fruit and no added sugar to the finish. Their blackberry wine literally has four pounds of blackberries in every bottle!

Stop by for a free tasting and take a bottle (or two) back to the beach with you. Don’t miss trying the Key Lime wine — it was my favorite and has won a number of awards!

16. Take a Panama City Beach Helicopter Tour

If there is one thing that makes Panama City Beach worth returning to, it’s the helicopter tours. The views on the ground and the sea are already spectacular, but seeing Panama City Beach up in the air provides a different perspective of its beauty and splendor.

If you haven’t tried riding a helicopter before, now is your chance to do so! You can also try a wildlife helicopter tour if you want something a little different. You’ll be able to see turtles, stingrays, and even sharks! They’ll get you close enough to see the magnificent creatures while also keeping enough distance as not to disturb them.

Panhandle Helicopters has a variety of tours for you to choose from!

17. Have Fun at Pier Park

Pier Park is the place to shop the beachy boutiques, get fruity drinks (served in a pineapple!) and indulge in beachfront restaurants. It has the whole package. There are more than 120 retail stores where you can buy clothes, shoes, accessories and even furniture. Plus, if you are a fan of Ferris wheels, you can get a whole new perspective of Florida’s Panama City Beach on the Skywheel that soars 200 feet above Pier Park. You can see for miles!

If you want to explore the Pier Park at a leisurely pace, then I suggest you go early in the morning before it gets too busy and hot.

If you’d like to know more about what Pier Park has to offer, check out the Panama City Beach (PCB) visitors website .

Last but not least, you can skate all day at their roller skating rink for only a couple of dollars.

Brunch is a popular thing to do almost anywhere in the States, but especially in Panama City Beach. People love some good grub before hitting the beach, and the city has plenty of options. Andy’s Flour Power has all the brunch favorites made with the freshest ingredients, but they are known for their French toast—and it’s to die for! If you are looking for a killer eggs Benedict, then head over to Liza’s Kitchen who puts it on their homemade double-proofed focaccia bread.

20. Break Free at Escape Manor

Invite your family or friends and unleash your inner Sherlock at this escape room-type game at Escape Manor ! Their Panama City Beach site has three different missions to choose from, each with its unique story and mystery. Is your team capable of escaping before the timer runs out?

Whether you are a fan of mysteries or you just want to have a unique experience with your loved ones, Escape Manor will keep you coming back for more!

21. Do a Double-Take of the Upside Down Building

WonderWorks is an amusement park that combines education and entertainment. Inside you can feel the power of a 71 mph hurricane and make life-sized bubbles. But, you don’t even need to go inside to get a little taste of the fun. The exterior is built like an upside down building, and it’s worth at least a drive-by. You can kill two birds with one stone because right across the street is a ginormous ship replica that is home to Ripley’s Believe it or Not.

22. Swim at Panama City Beach

Take a splash in the different beaches around Panama Beach City. Some popular ones to go to are Camp Helen State Park, St. Andrews State Park (perfect for kids!), and Laguna Beach. Most of the beaches in the area are also open for different activities like kayaking and snorkeling.

Aside from the beaches, Panama City Beach’s resorts, hotels, and condos have some of the best pools in the state. Choose from huge pools with waterslides, a lazy river, and a poolside grill/bar to peaceful, boutique pools where the only sound is the air rustling the palm trees.

23. Explore the Pretty Parks

St. Andrews State Park is surrounded by water — the Gulf on one side and the bay on the other. You can either enjoy a relaxing sunbathe on the beach, explore the dunes or walk one of the two nature trails. The 180-acre Camp Helen State Park is also bordered by the gulf, in addition to Lake Powell. It is one of the largest coastal dune lakes in Florida with plenty of activities. Have fun searching for wildlife, swimming, fishing and strolling around the refurbished textile mill buildings. If hiking is your main goal for the day, then the 24 miles of unpaved trails at Conservation Park is a must (bikers can also enjoy the 2900-acre park!).

25. Get Wet at the Shipwreck Island Waterpark

If you want a break from the beautiful beaches, awaken your inner child at the Shipwreck Island Waterpark. Boasting amazing waterslides, wave pools, and lazy rivers, the tropical water park is one of the most fun attractions in Panama City Beach. Their 500,000-gallon Ocean Motion Wave pool creates three foot waves to splash around in or you can opt to meander down the lazy river. If you are more of a thrill-seeker, don’t miss the Pirate’s Plunge and Tree Top Drop waterslides.

27. Ride Go Carts

Take a spin on the fastest, tallest and steepest go-kart track in Panama City Beach, Race City . They have tracks for every level of speedster, from a lil’ speedy to a pro. Hampton Inn & Suites Beachfront (moderate) is a great choice if you are looking for more of a hotel than condo. For something on the less expensive side, try the Carillon Beach Resort Inn (budget). Also search some great deals on hotels of your choice at Booking.com . If you’re looking for more of a home atmosphere (or are traveling with a group of people), head over to VRBO that has houses, apartments and even just a room for rent in every price range.

Getting Around: Renting a car in Panama City Beach is the best to really experience the island and RentalCars.com has some great deals. If you are not renting a car, there are a few other options. It is possible to get around by taxi, but that can get quite expensive (especially if you want to check all the things to do in Panama City Beach off this bucket list). If you have more time, another choice would be the Bay Town Trolly which runs between the beaches for $1.50 per trip (or $4.00 for a day pass).

I will keep this in mind for Florida trip. Thanks for the list

Yes! Love this! PCB baby!

I used to live in Florida and I honestly I had no idea that PCB had so much to offer. I especially appreciate the tips like time-wait, etc. So helpful!! Thank you.

Thank you for sharing! I have been to PCB several times in past years and it has always been one of my favorite beaches to visit! Thank you for the tips! I, too, was not aware of all of the attractions available to visitors!

PCB definitely has some of the most beautiful US Gulf Coast beaches. Love thee sand there.

I’m not sure when the last time you were on Shell Island, but we were just there a few weeks ago, and did NOT find one shell. Very disappointing. We walked about a 1/2 mile and nothing. :(

Oh no! I’m so sorry to hear that. I was there a couple years ago and found many. Thanks for letting me know!

The only rule is that you have to take them with you when you leave. Any items left unattended on the beach after seven p.m. will be removed in accordance with the city’s Leave No Trace ordinance.

You are allowed to bring bags to Panama City Beach, but that doesn’t mean it’s a good idea. The fine sand of the beach makes wheeled suitcases a nightmare, and you don’t want all your belongings with you while you go for a swim. Drop off your bags at a suitcase storage in Panama City Beach instead.

Panama City Beach Food Policy

You are allowed to bring food to Panama City Beach. However, grills and barbecues are not allowed. You may be able to have a bonfire on the beach, but you will need to obtain a permit from the city first. If you going to bring food to the beach, it’s best to bring sandwiches, snacks, and other things that don’t need to be cooked.

Of course, you could save yourself the hassle of packing a lunch and instead dine at one of the area’s many restaurants. Louisiana-themed local favorite David’s Sno-balls is a popular choice, as is Pineapple Willy’s. Whether you’re looking for seafood, barbecue, Cajun, Italian, or just about any other type of cuisine, you’ll find it here.

Panama City Beach Camera Policy

Cameras are allowed on Panama City Beach, and you’ll definitely want to capture the gorgeous white sand and blue water and even the occasional dolphin sighting . However, beaches aren’t the best place for expensive camera equipment. Sand and water can wreak havoc on both cameras and lenses, so it may be better to leave them somewhere safe. A luggage storage service near Panama City Beach can help you store valuable equipment while you enjoy a day at the waterside. Drop off your bags and pick them up at your convenience after you’ve enjoyed the sunshine.

Panama City Beach Rules

  • Camping on the beach is not permitted, and anyone trying to stay overnight will be asked to leave.
  • Weddings are allowed on the beach and no special permits are required. However, make sure you don’t leave any items unattended after seven p.m.
  • Alcohol is permitted on the beach except during the month of March. Glass bottles are not permitted on the beach at any time, so make sure you bring plastic.
  • Dogs are not allowed on the beach except in the designated pet-friendly area close to Russell-Fields City Pier.
  • Fishing is permitted on the beach, but you will need a fishing license. These can be obtained from local convenience stores when you arrive.

Panama City Beach Lockers

The gorgeous water and endless sunshine of Panama City Beach have made it what it is today. This popular attraction draws people from across the United States and around the world to enjoy everything it has to offer. The crystal waters are perfect for snorkeling and swimming, and a resident population of dolphins offers an encounter with the abundant wildlife of the Gulf of Mexico.

With all this going on, it’s clear that Panama City Beach is an excellent vacation spot. But beach trips are all about traveling light. Drop off your bags at a luggage locker near Panama City Beach, and you’ll be in an ideal position to enjoy everything the Florida coast has to offer.

19+ Fun Things To Do In Panama City Beach With Kids

We may earn money or products from the companies mentioned in this post. As an Amazon Associate, I earn from qualifying purchases.

Panama City Beach, Florida, has something for everyone and is one of our favorite places to spend time in the Sunshine State. Today, I want to share some of our favorite fun things to do in Panama City Beach with kids!

We have done pretty much all of these, so I will include my photos and some of my best tips for visiting each location on your family trip to Panama City Beach, or PCB, as the locals call it!

Things To Do In Panama City Beach With Kids

Get ready for sun, sea, and sand as we uncover the top things to do in PCB with kids. From strolling  Shell Island  to buckling in for a wild airboat tour, this list guarantees a family vacation filled with joy, laughter, and memories that’ll last a lifetime.

But, first, I want to quickly touch on where Panama City Beach is, the different types of accommodations for families in Panama City Beach, and the Panama City Beach airport.

Where Is Panama City Beach?

Panama City Beach is located in the northwestern part of Florida along the Gulf of Mexico, known as the Florida panhandle. This area is renowned for its stunning white sandy beaches and crystal-clear emerald waters.

Situated approximately 95 miles southwest of the state capital, Tallahassee, Panama City Beach is a popular  Florida tourist destination  known for its vibrant atmosphere, water sports, and diverse recreational activities.

Family Accommodations in Panama City Beach

Compared to other popular beach communities in this area, such as  30A , visitors to Panama City Beach will find plenty of beachfront accommodations. The coast is lined with  hotels  and condominium-style  vacation rentals .

Our favorite hotels include the  Holiday Inn Resort Panama City Beach , the  Hyatt Place Beachfront  Panama City Beach, and the Gulf-front  Holiday Inn Express Panama City Beach . All offer large pools featuring lazy rivers and family-friendly rooms, and the latter two also have complimentary breakfast!

Panama City Beach Airport

The Panama City Beach airport might confuse you because it’s not called that. The local airport is called Northwest Florida Beaches Airport (ECP). It is set inland for about 20 minutes, but there is no shortage of Ubers or shuttles.

I have a  Guide To 30A and Panama City Beach Airports  with all about this airport and which cities offer direct flights. Feel free to read that!

19+ Top Things To Do In Panama City Beach With Kids

So, let’s dive in and look at 19+ fun things to do in Panama City Beach with kids. Mixing beach and pool days with outings and adventures, your family can easily spend a week here and have enough things to do!

Please note that many of these activities are seasonal, so please verify they are open and secure any required advance tickets before visiting.

1. Visit Shell Island

Grab your sunscreen and hop on a boat to this pristine paradise. This primitive barrier island is one of my favorite places! Only accessible by boat, it does require a little planning ahead. Our favorite way to get there is by renting a pontoon boat for the day, but there is also a shuttle and organized boat outings.

In Summer and Fall, when the water is warmest, the  Paradise Adventures waterpark  in the bay is really fun for kids!

2. Sea Dragon Pirates Cruise

If you have young kids, they will get a kick out of this exciting 2-hour family Pirate cruise!

Board a real pirate ship and enjoy dolphin sightings, music, and non-stop pirate activities for the kids. Parents can relax and enjoy the coastal breeze as the crew keeps the kids entertained with sword fighting, swabbing the deck, finding treasure, and, of course, having a pirate dance party. And yes, there is a cannon!

INFO:  Sea Dragon Pirate Cruise  (March – October)

3. Pier Park: Shopping, Dining, & Fun

It’s fun to stroll along the bright and colorful buildings as you enjoy shopping at the 120+ stores. Families can dine at iconic family vacation spots such as Margaritaville and Dick’s Last Resort. However, Pier Park offers a lot more!

Here, you can ride the famous Panama City Beach  Skywheel,  enjoy an IMAX movie, play at Dave and Buster’s, and tackle the Mirror Maze or Pirate’s Quest Laser Tag.

MORE INFO:  Pier Park

4. Gulf World: Swim With Dolphins In Panama City Beach

Dive into the wonders of marine life at  Gulf World PCB . From kid friendly dolphin shows to special interactive exhibits, your kids will be fascinated and sure to enjoy the Gulf World. However, please know this is a smaller place and different from sites like SeaWorld or the  Georgia Aquarium .

However, they do offer a few different  30-minute dolphin encounter experiences . I recommend booking these in advance!

5. Spend A Day At The Beach

I can’t go any further without mentioning the beach. With so many fun things to do in Panama City Beach with kids, it may be tempting to overplan your trip. But please leave plenty of time for the beach!

Hopefully, you are staying at a  condo or hotel directly on the beach , but even if you aren’t, just know that Panama City Beach has a lot of public beach access compared to places like 30A, where most of the  30A beaches are private . If you aren’t staying beachfront, consider going to St. Andrews State Park (more on that later).

Also, at many of the beaches, you can do banana boat rides and even parasailing!

Please pay attention to the beach flags. Knee deep is too deep on red flag days, and the water is closed when you see double red flags flying. This is due to dangerous rip currents. Please do not let your kids in the water when there are red flags. Also, to learn more about the beach flag system and sign up for current beach conditions text alerts  here .

6. Wild Thang Airboat Tours

We always drive past this place on the way to  our condos on 30A , and it’s still on our bucket list. However, people have nothing but good things to say about it. So, I feel confident recommending it to you!

Hop on an airboat and take a thrilling ride through the marshes and backwaters, searching for alligators, dolphins, and birds! They offer 1/2-hour rides, 1-hour rides, and even night rides!

LEARN MORE:  Wild Thang Airboat Tours

7. Ride The Scream Machine: High-Speed Speedboat Thrill Ride

Hold on to your hats!  The Scream Machine  is not your average boat ride; it’s a thrill-packed adventure on the high seas. Feel the wind in your hair as you embark on a high-speed escapade, perfect for the whole family.

Kids must be at least 38″ tall, and you will get wet on this exhilarating one-hour boat ride. We haven’t done this yet ourselves, but I always see it listed among the top things to do in Panama City Beach with kids

8. Enjoy St. Andrews State Park

A true gem, St. Andrews State Park is a great place to spend the day. With hiking trails, white sand beaches, and opportunities for birdwatching, it’s a nature lover’s paradise for families seeking a day in the sun. This is one of our favorite cheap things to do in Panama City Beach, Florida.

One of the most popular areas here is the jetties. Kids play on the rocks and snorkel in the shallow waters of St. Andrews Bay as they watch the boats come and go. You can even take one of the  shuttles to Shell Island  from here!

Other popular Florida State Parks in the area include Camp Helen State Park, Grayton Beach State Park, and Eden Gardens State Park.

MORE INFO:  St. Andrews State Park  (a Florida State Park)

9. Wonderworks Museum Panama City Beach

This is one of my go-to rainy-day recommendations for my guests at our  30A Airbnb rentals . However, it’s everyone else’s, too! So, it can get busy on rainy days, so consider it for one of those mornings where you just need to get everyone out of the sun for a bit!

You can’t miss this 29,000 square feet educational and entertaining museum as it’s housed in an upside-down building. Kids will surely get a kick out of it, and my two kids have loved visiting over the years!

10. Book A Catamaran Sunset Cruise or Daytime Snorkel Trip

This is my favorite thing to do in Panama City Beach, Florida! Paradise Adventures offers wonderful  daytime or evening catamaran cruises  that are kid-friendly!

So, climb aboard for a breathtaking cruise along the Gulf of Mexico. Watch as the sky transforms before your eyes, creating a magical backdrop for quality family time. Don’t forget the camera – these moments are picture-perfect. This is also one of my favorite things to do in Panama City Beach for adults.

11. Coconut Creek Family Fun Park

Putt-putt your way through one or both of the 18-hour mini-golf courses for family fun at Coconut Creek. Or, opt for the Gran Maze. Kids 5 and under pay for free! This is one of the best things to do in Panama City Beach at night for families.

In the Panama City Beach area, you will also find many other great mini golf courses, go-karts, arcades, and fun parks!

12. Ripley’s Believe It Or Not: Oddities and Amazements

One of TripAdvisor’s Travelers Choice 2023 award winners, Ripley’s Believe It Or Not, promises an eccentric adventure for the whole family. From bizarre artifacts to mind-boggling illusions, it’s sure to elicit some interesting reactions from the kids!

Plan 1-2 hours for this museum. It’s another great rainy day or too-much-sun inside activity in PCB.

WEBSITE:  Ripley’s Believe It Or Not Panama City Beach

13. Off-shore Fishing: Reel in Family Fun

Cast a line and reel in the fun with an off-shore fishing adventure!

Whether you’re a seasoned angler or a first-timer, the Gulf waters near Panama City Beach offer some of the best fishing around.

There are quite a variety of options when it comes to off-shore fishing. Visitors can plan in advance and book all-day deep-sea fishing trips or just adventure out for a couple of hours on a  Captain Anderson vessel .

The best way to see the options is on the  Visit Panama City Beach Fishing Charter page . There are almost 60 options listed! However, please remember that you need somewhere to keep your catch for the remainder of your trip and a way to get it home! On our last outing, we caught the maximum amount of snapper and are still eating it.

14. Summer Fun At Shipwreck Island Waterpark

Summers are hot on the Gulf Coast, and for years, both visitors and locals alike have cooled off at Shipwreck Island Waterpark. Centrally located in Panama City Beach, Shipwreck Island has thrilling slides, lazy rivers, and wave pools. This waterpark is always a great time for the entire family, and it’s consistently rated as one of the top things to do in Panama City Beach with kids.

WEBSITE:  Shipwreck Island Waterpark

15. Sharky’s Beachfront Dining With A Sandy Playground

Savor the flavors of Panama City Beach at Sharky’s. Adults can enjoy beachfront dining under the giant tiki while the kids run around and play on the playgrounds (on the sand). The ocean breeze and fresh seafood make for an unforgettable family meal.

Also, we always try to go when they have live music! It’s one of the most iconic and unique things to do in Panama City Beach, Florida.

MENUS + EVENTS:  Sharky’s Beachfront Restaurant

16. Dolphin Watching In Panama City Beach

It’s common to see dolphins frolicking in the Gulf from your beach chair while in Panama City Beach, Florida!

Additionally, you can set sail on a dolphin-watching excursion and witness these playful creatures in their natural habitat. It’s a magical experience that’ll leave your family in awe as they chase behind you in the wake of the boat.

You may want to consider a  private dolphin-watching trip . Additionally, several companies offer group dolphin-watching trips, and below is one of our favorites!

17. ZooWorld: The Panama City Beach Zoo

For a dose of furry, feathery fun, ZooWorld is your go-to destination. You can even opt for up-close encounters with exotic animals, including a Snuggle A Lemur and Pet A Sloth! This small zoo is easy to navigate and makes for a great educational outing. It’s one of the most popular things to do in Panama City Beach with kids of all ages.

WEBSITE:  ZooWorld PCB

18. Sandcastle Lessons Panama City Beach

Want to really impress your kids? Book a sandcastle lesson!

That Sandcastle Guy  and  Beach Sand Sculptures  offer private sandcastle-making lessons for your family. You need to book these in advance! Also, these lessons can be pricy. I consider them best for slightly older kids who listen and can follow directions well. This really is one of those fun activities for teens!

19. Plan A Day Trip From PCB

There are so many other great things to do within an hour of Panama City Beach, many even closer! Day trips include visiting  30A , driving up to  Florida Caverns State Park , a kayak or canoe outing to  Cypress Springs , family  horseback riding near Panama City Beach , and so much more!

Local parks, including Aaron Bessant Park, Conservation Park, and Frank Brown Park, are great places to visit. You can enjoy summer concert series, playgrounds, and biking.

In addition, the  Forbidden Tomb Escape Room  has rave reviews on Trip Advisor!

The Grand Marlin

when to visit panama city beach

Ratings and reviews

Food and ambience, location and contact.

The hotel where I was staying gave me a coupon that gave a free adult beverage with the purchase of an entree. My server was Hank and he was great. I ordered the grouper piccata, which was cooked perfectly. My only suggestion was that the... chefs did not put enough garlic in it, if any. The sauteed spinach was good but also bland. The mashed potatoes were great. Overall, I still enjoyed the meal - it tasted fine, just needed more garlic. Ok, so about the bill. I ordered a glass of wine, which the price was deducted from the bill but they still charged sales tax on the wine. Maybe I am wrong but I don't think it is supposed to be that way - you shouldn't pay sales tax on money you did not spend. When I asked the manager about it, she said that they have been doing it that way in all her 20 years there and "no one has ever had a problem with it". To me, that doesn't make it correct. Way to go with PR, manager. She deducted the tax anyway. I would not be against going back but it would not be my first choice. More

This is our favorite restaurant and we are local! It says a lot for us to wait in the summer crowds to dine out anywhere but we will do it at the Grand Marlin. I appreciate that during the pandemic they are ALL wearing PPE... and seating at 50% capacity. They are putting the safety of the customers over profit and we will continue to support them. We ate there for our anniversary and were treated like royalty at our favorite table, a printed menu with our name and Happy Anniversary on it, and the meal was delicious. The hostesses, waiter, and even GM greeted us so warmly and seemed genuinely glad that we chose to spend our special night in their restaurant. We had salmon, oysters, tuna, and the praline basket and I would recommend them all. They always go above and beyond! More

So our neighbor owns a condo in PCB and because he spends a good deal of time here, I would consider him someone who *knows* where the good food is. He highly recommended this place and now I know why. We started with oysters and... ahi poke tower, then moved to gumbo and salads. For entrees, I had perfectly prepared scallops, with browned butter and capers, while my husband had the “early bird” Tuesday special, filet and crab cake for 22 bucks. Meal was perfectly paced, we were there at 4:45 but by the time we were paying, the place was hopping. I bet in high season, you’d have a line so plan accordingly. It’s located down by the lower lagoon marina, so it was just an all around beautiful setting. Pricy, but highly recommend. More

Four of us went here for dinner, as the reviews looked like it was a great restaurant. The restaurant was about at half capacity, and it was so loud in there that we were shouting across the table to hear each other. We couldn't hear... half of what the waitress said, because it was so noisy. At one point I even covered my ears. Three of us had the scallop dinner, and we were very disappointed. The scallops were good, but we only got four scallops for our dinner. There was about 1/3 cup of mashed potatoes and a small vegetable serving of broccolini. The dinner was $34, the most expensive dinner that we have had in Panama City Beach. Though the food was good, the noise level, and the lack a volume of food for the amount of money we were served means that I will never go back there. I actually left the restaurant hungry, and I typically don't eat a full serving at a meal. More

This restaurant receives a lot of hype by tourist but for the price paid, this restaurant is not worth it. The service we received was below average that started with initial greeters that we're less than happy to be there, then proceeded to waiting almost... 10 minutes for a server to acknowledge our table and ask for drinks. We had to send back one plate for undercooked fish and had to almost beg for refills Keep in kind that this was around 5pm and the covid restrictions basically mandated a small crowd so there is ZERO excuses for even having to ask for a refill. The meals themselves were average and just not even close to worth the prices paid. I would not recommend dropping $100+ dollars on a meal that can be duplicated for much less at other restaurants for half the price. Do yourself a favor if you want to spend a lot of money and go next door to Captain Anderson's, they have been doing it for much longer and have much better service and the food is a few notches better. More

My husband & I chose to sit in the bar area due to an hour wait for a table. We were given water, menus and silverware as soon as we were seated. We were impressed, but then our server arrived 15 minutes later to take... our drink order. We ordered our drinks and dinner and waited, and waited, and waited. 20 mins. after ordering our server came by to see if we needed anything. We reminded her about our drinks, and she said the bar employees were very slow. We were literally 6' from the bar and saw them busting their butts. It turned out she forgot to put in our order. We did call her out on it & she tried to lie her way out of it. We waited another 40 mins for our food. She never stopped back so my husband had to chase her down. She said they were very busy and food was taking a little longer. One hour for fish & chips is ridiculous. Once again, it turned out the kitchen staff "lost our order". Our server did give us a free dessert & a free glass of wine for the staff's mistakes (her mistakes), but it eded up taking two hours for a dinner of fish & chips. With that said, our food was very good. We would like to give them another shot to see what all the rave is about. More

If I could give this a zero rating I would. The entire experience was terrible. We came for our 13th wedding anniversary, and made a reservation on open table. In the reservation I noted that it was our anniversary, yet that was never acknowledged. Because... of Covid, we asked to be sat outside. It was very clear that our waitress did not want to be waiting on a table outside. We were sat at a table with no silverware and no appetizer plates. We ordered two appetizers and our drinks, and our drinks came after the appetizers. I had to go get silverware, after we had already eaten our appetizers with our hands, and needed something to wipe our hands with. I ordered swordfish with double vegetables, because I don't eat much carbs, and the waitress got the order wrong. The order came with mashed potatoes and green beans with the fish on top. I asked for that to be returned and to have the correct order come out. I was brought back a plate within a minute that still had mashed potato remnants on my green beans and my fish. Clearly they just scooped over my old green beans put a few more on there and moved my fish to the side. If you don't want mashed potatoes and you let them know that, they should make sure that you don't have mashed potatoes on your protein and side, that's gross. This is not the service or food quality I would expect for a restaurant with these prices. This was just a very negative experience and I will not be back. More

We have had friends and family Rave about how great this place was so on this trip down we decided to try it. We arrived and were seated promptly our waiter came out and from the beginning he had a horrible attitude and acted like... we were a nuisance to him. The food arrived and it was fine I did not see anything spectacular. Mine was the fried seafood platter which the only reason it could be called a fried seafood platter at all was because there was some fried seafood served on a platter. My fried seafood platter consisted of one piece of fish sitting atop a mountain of cheese grits two regular sized fried shrimp and two small fried oysters. While the seafood was good it was not outstanding the cheese grits were quite delicious probably some of the best I have ever had but nowhere near worth the price I paid for it especially when I was expecting a seafood platter. Two of my children got the fried shrimp po-boy which is probably one of the smallest shrimp Po-Boys I have ever seen it had six small shrimp on each side of the sandwich so nothing special there my younger children got the kids shrimp meals and fish meals. The shrimp meals for the children had more shrimp on them than my seafood platter and my two other children's shrimp Po-Boys combined and my other kids fish meal had more fish on it than my seafood platter. I would have been better off and would have gotten a better deal along with more food if I had simply ordered a child's fish meal and a child's shrimp meal. All in all not a great experience and I did not see anything there that was worthy of raving about. More

The indifferent Hostess set the tone for the evening. The runner who delivered our meal, wasn't an improvement. She didn't stick around long enough to ask if there was anything else that we might want to go with our meals. We ran out of ice... water, and never saw anyone with a pitcher. Oysters were nice and cold, but extremely salty. I ordered the Saturday evening special which featured delicious mashed potatoes. Hubby ordered fried shrimp, and he requested mashed potatoes instead of fries. His shrimp was great, but the potatoes were cold and tasteless. We did speak with the Manager on duty. She was defensive. I don't understand why we were given the worst table in the room, when several tables were empty. We were in and out in less than an hour. If you are looking for someplace fast, this may be a great choice. If you are looking for fine dining, delicious food and an attentive, courteous staff, go elsewhere. More

Had the fried oysters, worst ever had, small n NO taste, grouper was delicious, crabs claws excellent Greeter had no personality, our server was terrific however, think her name was Madison. Sat on upper deck, view beautiful, dinner became uncomfortable due to 3 women- wouldn’t... call them ladies due to their loud profanity at the table closet to us, ugly words n mistreatment of a male companion, n no one bothered to address the situation. Our price tag was $120 for two meals- way overpriced for the food n quality received- will not be goin back More

So impressed with the food and dining experience at the Grand Marlin restaurant tonight. First, The staff and management were all were wearing masks and spacing tables out to protect their guest which made the four of us much more comfortable to enjoy our dinner.... Our waiter, Ihor, was attentive, gave great suggestions and had a delightful enthusiastic personality. The Grouper Piccata was delicious and the Snapper was outstanding. The Key Lime Pie was probably the best one I have ever eaten with a graham cracker/macadamia nut crust and a light and mousse like pie filling. Yum!! We will definitely be going back to The Grand Marlin!! More

We had the grouper picata, the pan seared grouper was cooked perfectly over whipped potatoes and spinach. We also had the house fried potatoes with blue cheese dressing for an appetizer. The large portion is more than ample for a party of 4 to share.... The blue cheese wedge was fatastic, I think the balsamic smear on the bottom was mixed with chocolate which matched perfectly. A must eat when in Panama City. The atmosphere was very relaxing . Prices may seem a little high; however, the portions are large and well worth what you pay. More

Of all the restaurants in Panama City this was the absolute worst in all areas. They have a very limited menu and scent portions. $18 for a shrimp cocktail that contains 4 large shrimp, $ 34 for sea scallops that contain 4 medium scallops, sweet... potato hash with green beans on top. Poor service and not child friendly at all. More

This place was recommend to us by the owner of the house we are staying in while here. We got a reservation via open table. When we arrived the staff inside the door that take you to your table could use some polishing. This has... been mentioned in previous reviews. Moving on... We were seated at an excellent table close to the window. Tables were well spaced and staff did wear masks which is good. Our waitress(sorry can't remember her name) was knowledgeable and efficient. We ordered crab claw appetizer with entrees consisting of crab cakes, Grouper Piccata, and Scottish Salmon. I have to say the crab claws were among the best I've had. The crab cakes were excellent. My grouper piccata was crazy good. The salmon was very good as well and we felt the sweet potato hash kinda held this entree back some. The plating was very well done. The servings were much larger than they appear. Though pricey is was overall an excellent experience. More

We try to budget a visit to Grand Marlin each trip to PCB. We love the outdoor seating option, the wait staff is knowledgeable, and food is always delicious. It isn't a low cost option, but if you want a special evening out, the Grand... Marlin is one of your best options. More

Gulf Coast Jam 2024 tickets sold out, on track for one of the biggest years yet

when to visit panama city beach

PANAMA CITY BEACH − Country music stars will soon take the stage at arguably the largest event on the Beach.

The Gulf Coast Jam is once again gearing up to attract thousands of people to Panama City Beach. Slated to occur May 30 to June 2 at Frank Brown Park, here's what we know about the four-day country music festival.

Are tickets still available?

As executive director of the Gulf Cost Jam, Rendy Lovelady said Monday that tickets to the concert have been sold out since November. He expects about 25,000 attendees this year − the same as in 2023, which set the record for having the largest turnout in the event's history.

"It's humbling to be involved in the show that's close to 13 years old (and) see it grow over the years," Lovelady said. "I've been doing this for years ... and I've never see the excitement I've seen this year toward the festival."

What artists will perform?

According to the event's website, the headliners for the 2024 Gulf Coast Jam are Parker McCollum, Jelly Roll, Cody Johnson and Morgan Wallen.

Other artists slated to perform include Shane Smith & the Saints, Priscilla Block, Chase Matthew, Corey Kent, Kidd G, Austin Snell, Sadie Bass, John Morgan, Heartland, Peytan Porter, Deana Carter, Shelby Darrall and Chandler Flint.

Looking back: 'Massively successful': 2023 Gulf Coast Jam sets records; Morgan Wallen booked for 2024

"We sold out last year, so it should be about the same as last year," Lovelady said of this year's festival. "It's exciting to see multiple years sell out. I wish we had more land. We could (sell) more tickets, but we really (are) just at capacity with Gulf Coast Jam."
