Wonderful all around experience!!! Michele and John were personable and made our experience the best with excellent wine and beautiful views of the Willamette Valley! Would highly recommend to anyone looking to experience the w Oregon wine country!!

wine tours willamette valley

Our tour with Michele and John exceeded our expectations! Our pickup was prompt and our drive through the beautiful countryside of the area to 4 amazing wineries was very professional. Their wealth of knowledge of the wine country area, wine and beyond was shared in a fun, friendly and exciting way. We loved each of the wineries they took us to for very special wine tastings. They are absolutely the ones you want to spend your time with on a wine tasting tour. We had such a great day…thanks tons❤️

a group of people posing for the camera

The whole wine tasting event was fantastic from beginning. We were picked up at the door of our Airbnb by our hosts Michele, who taught us about the wines of Oregon and her husband John who drove us everywhere. We went to 3 wineries that were all unique with friendly and knowledgeable staff. Had a great lunch and was treated extra special because it was my birthday. I would highly recommend this to anyone if they want a small group rather than a bus load of people.

a group of people sitting at a table with food

We had the BEST time with Michele! She and her husband picked us up at our Airbnb in Portland and drove us in a nice comfortable van to three different vineyards throughout the day. Michele shared lots of helpful information with us, thoughtfully led us to a mid- day lunch at a celiac friendly vineyard, and had prepared snacks and waters for us to eat between stops! She truly thought of everything and was so easy to talk with. My husband and I were with his parents on the trip and while they had never been to a winery, we’ve done multiple trips to Napa Valley. All four of us had a delightful time!! The Willamette Valley is a beautiful place and we saw so much more of it thanks to Michele and Triangle Wine Country! 100% recommend!

a group of people posing for a photo

We had a phenomenal experience with Triangle Wine Country tours for our team retreat in the Willamette Valley. Michele thoughtfully chose three wineries that not only exceeded our expectations but also gave us a true experience of the valley and its unique wine offerings. Michele was extremely knowledgeable of both winemaking and the region which added an awesome learning experience for our party of 7. I'd recommend this tour company over and over again.

wine tours willamette valley

This tour was amazing! My friends and I did not want to worry about driving so all of us could enjoy our tastings, and we loved they picked us up from our airbnb (Lake Oswego) area). They were punctual, the van was very nice, clean, and roomy for our party of 5 and Michele was a great combo of informative, fun, but also let our group have our time together. Her husband was a very good driver and nice to chat with. They were both such a delight and this tour was amazing! The Durant winery they took us for lunch was delicious and also has olive oil! Will always recommend.

There aren’t enough kind words to say about Michele, John, and Triangle wine tours! Michele is so knowledgeable and passionate about wine! All the places we went to had incredible views and delicious wine. Michele & John had everything arranged for us so we just showed up and drank wine, a carefree day! We couldn’t have asked for a better way to spend our day in Willamette Valley!

a group of people sitting on a green bench

Our day of wine tasting with Triangle Wine Tours was absolutely perfect. Michele was easy to communicate with and used her expert knowledge to pick the wineries for our tour. We were picked up right outside of our hotel in downtown Portland in a comfy van. They provided snacks as well as a download on the area and wine industry. They made sure we got 5-star service at all the wineries, and we even got to taste a few extra wines that weren’t on our flights. The Triangle Wine team made the whole process so easy and fun. I would definitely recommend them for your wine tasting tour!

wine tours willamette valley

We couldn't have asked for a better wine tasting tour. Michele and John were very knowledgeable and courteous. They took us to three amazing wineries in the Willamette Valley that we never would have discovered on our own. On our way, in their comfortable van, safely driven by John, Michele taught us about the history of wine making in Oregon and prepared us for what each winery specialized in, enhancing our experience. Each winery had quality wines and breath-taking views. We will be back.

I’d strongly recommend Triangle for your tour. Downright good people and knowledgeable about wine and the area. They’ve done their homework. Fabulous experience!!

Wow. Best experience. Wealth of knowledge. so Willing to please. Worth every penny, much better than doing it on your own. Best guides. Super recommended!!

Triangle Wine Country Tours is THE choice for touring the Willamette Valley. John and Michele are wonderful. Their communication is great. Since we did some touring on our own the day before, we let them pick and book all of our tour stops - and they picked some great ones! The van was large and comfortable and had everything we needed. Of course, John and Michele will take care of special requests. They will definitely work with you to make the perfect trip and tour! Highly recommend!

Best wine tour in the Willamette Valley! We booked a private tour for our group of 8 and could not have asked for a better experience. Michele and John were punctual, friendly, knowledgeable and overall great people. Every aspect of the tour was planned seamlessly and our every want, need and question was taken care of. Booking was super easy and Michele was a huge help in picking out the best wineries for our tastes. She was also great at communication before the tour. Michele and John also provided snacks and water in the van, which was impeccably clean and well maintained. We went to Sokol Blosser, Durant, and Furioso and had tables waiting for us upon arrival. We also had a charcuterie lunch at Durant that was just perfect. The timing of all the tastings was great and we never felt rushed. This is my second tour with Triangle Wine Country and I look forward to many more in the future.

wine tours willamette valley

We had an awesome tasting experience with Michele & John. The wineries we visited were tailored as much as possible to 3 different preferences in wine, yet each stop offered delicious wines and beautiful atmosphere. Michele was highly knowledgeable regarding the wines, the wineries, and the area. It was a relaxing & comfortable way to tour & taste in an unfamiliar area. Would recommend this tour to anyone.

a group of people holding wine glasses and smiling at the camera

We booked the tour to celebrate a 28th birthday. It was a great experience from the booking to the drop-off. Michele and John were absolutely accommodating and fantastic! We had so much fun and learned a lot during the tour. We highly recommend!!!!!

a man and a woman sitting at a table eating food

This was a memorable experience and one that I'd repeat again with Triangle Wine Country Tours, as each tour is customized to your individual needs. Michele and John are highly knowledgeable about Oregon wines and all things wine-related. They have a very down-to-earth and pleasant approach and were a delight to spend the entire day with. An added bonus would be the personal relationships they have with wineries and winemakers throughout the Willamette Valley, which results in a very authentic experience.

wine tours willamette valley

Michele took down every one of our wish list items and fulfilled them all. She and John were prompt and communicated well. John drove the comfortable, modern van safely. The three vineyards they chose for us were all very different, but all gorgeous. I have only been on 3 winery tours, but John and Michele, knowledgeable and considerate, were by far the most pleasant and enjoyable hosts!

a group of people posing for a photo

This was only my 3rd wine tour, but it outshone the others completely. John drove our group of 4 around safely and efficiently in a very comfortable van. Water and snacks were on board. Michele and John both are are very knowelegeable and we learned so much about wines and even more about the area. The 3 vineyards we visited were very different, but all spectacular. Every request we had made was fulfilled. I had talked on the phone to 2 other tour guides but did not get a good vibe from either. Fortunately, we went with Triangle and had the time of our lives with the nicest guides in the Willamette Valley. Visiting there is awesome and the tour was the high point of our vacation.

Taylor Cross et al. sitting on a bench

Had the most amazing time in Willamette thanks to Michele and John! 10/10 would recommend and definitely would come back to Portland just for another tour! Fabulous wineries, delicious wine and the most friendly tour guides! We learned a lot and had a blast. Thanks for such a memorable trip!

a man standing next to a fence

We booked a private tour for just the 2 of us, and what a delight it was! In consultation with Michele, we decided on 3 sites (two that we wanted to visit and a third that was among a short list of recommendations suggested by Michele). All reservations and arrangements were expertly handled by Michele; all communications were timely and clear. Most importantly, it was an awesome day! We tasted great wines, had expert information and insight from Michele throughout the day, and traveled safely and on schedule. And, we fell in love with a new vineyard that we wouldn't have known about without Michele's guidance! We strongly recommend Triangle Wine Country Tours!

Google review, may 2023.

Four of us spent several days being guided around the Willamette Valley by Mark in the Fall of 2022. We found Mark to be extremely reliable, flexible, knowledgeable about the area and the type of personality that can make anyone feel welcome and at ease. I’d highly recommend taking advantage of Mark’s services to make transportation during your trip smooth and easy!

Mark was our driver for a wine tour and he helped to make it a fantastic day. He is very sociable, but not at all intrusive. This was our first visit to the WIllamette Vallley and we really appreciated his knowledge of the area. He made some great suggestions about other aspects of our trip. We would definitely use him again if we return to the area

EXCELLENT rating Based on 668 reviews Exceeded expectations - and the expectations were high :) Outstanding job! Backcountry Wine Tours deliveed a wonderful experience for our trip. They carefully listened to our requests on the in-take form and then used that information to put together a FABULOUS day for us. We loved the wineries that THEY selected. The van was so roomy and spacious and clean. Our driver, Michael, was awesome. Highly, highly recommend this company!!!! Highly, highly recommend Willamette Valley! debbiecastleberry 2023-11-09 Simply the best! Our driver was Michael and he was amazing! The wineries he chose were awesome and the experience was forgettable. We spoke to one wine maker, who provided our tasting experience, and we knew that was a treat and greatly appreciated that. Oregon wines are delicious and amazing! Lunch was provided and we were able to eat in the car between wineries (at our own pace). My hubby and I have done so many wine tours in California and Arizona and this one by far is at the top! I love that gratuity was automatically included, takes some stress away from the day. Also, Michael took beautiful scenic pictures, and sent them to us. Don’t hesitate, book your tour, you will not regret it. Thank you Backcountry Wine Tours and a huge thank you to Michael! Christina M 2023-11-08 Book with Backcountry! We had a great time with Backcountry Wine Tours! They scheduled out a perfect day of touring/ visiting three wonderful wineries. Aaron was our tour guide and he was amazing! He is extremely knowledgable and full of great information and stores. We learned a lot, had some laughs, tased great wine and found some new favorite wineries. I highly recommend Backcountry Wine to anyone coming to the area looking for a great way to enjoy the wine country. samantha s 2023-11-07 Great day with Backcountry! Dillon was very informative and timely! We really enjoyed the tours he set up for us. The wines were delicious and the views were fantastic. We met very kind people at each stop and would not have had such a coordinated day without the help of Backcountry. They made our day enjoyable and stress free. rachelcalagna96 2023-11-07 Exceptional 2 day tour in Willamette Valley! We wanted to visit some of the more obscure wineries and were delighted with both Michael (1st day) & Aaron (2nd day) and the choices they made. We went 6 for 6 buying wine from each place we visited over the 2 days. If you're looking for a great experience (and who isn't?) look no further than Backcountry Wine Tours. Lee B 2023-11-04 Wine! Wine! Wine! It was a great day. We enjoyed the vineyards, the ride and the lunch. Everything was right on time. The day got rave reviews from all 7 people in our party. specialk_est_2023 2023-10-31 Outstanding Tour Guide Amy was outstanding! We were 3 couples visiting the Willamette Valley for the first time and interested in touring the wine country. Amy arranged everything at the vineyards she and we both selected (go with her recommended smaller vineyards), picked us up each morning from our B&B, did all the driving in her roomy van and dropped us off at the end of the day. Wonderful! Amy has a great personality, knows the valley, winemakers, and couldn’t have been a better guide! Bravo Amy (and Reba)!! Jim 2023-10-29 Great Time!! We had a wonderful time on the winery tour! The driver and wineries were all very knowledgeable and the views were amazing. johnrichert85 2023-10-26 Highly recommended Backcountry! We enjoyed our day with Backcountry and our driver, Michael.! They helped select the three wineries we visited and all offered outstanding wines, venues, and hosts. Jim N 2023-10-16 A Wow Experience Our day with Michael was sublime. The wineries that Jack selected for our group were perfect and the start at Gran Moraine set the tone for the day. While we loved every stop, this particular one was a chosen favorite of our group. Michael was friendly, knowledgeable and a tremendous host and driver. I would highly recommend Backcountry. apstatealum 2023-10-15

Amazing tour and fantastic wines.

Backcountry Wine Tours is simply put AMAZING. Jack and Dillon are incredible wine aficionados. Dillon was our guide for the day, and we couldn’t have asked for a better day. We’ve been talking about our tour since. Recapping the wonderful experience. We stopped at three vineyards, and each visit gave us a special wine tasting experience. The day was made perfect by the last visit to Proteus/Aerea. Ian is a true craftsman and lovely person. Thank you Backcountry for making our visit to Portland wine country as good as it gets.

Incredible Day, Even With the Weather!

We can not rave enough about how incredible our day was with Backcountry Wine Tours! They found us the best smaller wineries with amazing wines to try, and knowledgeable staff and/or wine makers! It was such a delight. The weather did not cooperate all day but none of us cared. The thought, care and planning that clearly went into our day was over the top impressive. The customer service and communication was outstanding. We need way more than five stars for Backcountry! You are truly missing out if you do not use them. Even as a “local “- it is totally worth it! A huge thank you for making this a great memory for our family.

Bigger isn’t always better!

We’ve done a couple of different tours in other states and we truly thought this was one of the best. Drew was our driver and had a lot of knowledge about the area and winery history. We were able to make it to 4 wineries, all of which were “off the beaten path” that we wouldn’t have picked on our own. They all had a good variety of styles between them, friendly staff that were knowledgeable, and lovely settings. The van was comfortable and the rides between the wineries were beautiful! If you want a tour that isn’t all the “big names” and were you have a chance to get to know the winemakers & staff, this is the tour for you!

Exceptional wineries in the willamette valley  .

It would obviously be impossible to visit every single winery in the Willamette Valley on one trip to Portland, Oregon. So, to help make your decision easier, we’ve narrowed down the selection to a few of the best wineries to visit in the Willamette Valley. Choose one (or a few!) wineries from this list to visit to see the best of what the Willamette Valley has to offer.

1. Trisaetum Winery

Trisaetum Winery is an award-winning winery and vineyard located in the heart of the Willamette Valley, Oregon. Founded in 2003, Trisaetum is owned and operated by James Frey and Andrea Lassa, who have dedicated their lives to creating world-class wines that express the beauty of the land they live and work on. Trisaetum is a name that combines the names of James and Andrea’s children, Tristen and Tatum.

By focusing on terroir selection and sustainable farming practices, Trisaetum has achieved a high level of quality in their wines. The vineyards prioritize the preservation of natural habitats, employing sustainable practices such as dry-farming, avoiding herbicides and tilling, promoting bee-friendly viticulture, and hand-harvesting each cluster. The vineyard specializes in Pinot Noir, Riesling, Rose, and a variety of white blends.

At Trisaetum, visitors can experience stunning views of rolling hillsides and lush greenery while tasting fantastic wines on their patio. Inside, you can view the beautiful art gallery of owner James Frey. The wine flights are carefully crafted to offer a perfect balance of their red and white wines. In addition to wine, spirits are also produced on the Trisaetum property and can be tasted!

Trisaetum’s commitment to sustainability and breathtaking views make them the perfect choice for anyone looking for an exceptional wine experience and one of the best wineries to visit in the Willamette Valley.

2. Brick House Vineyards

Brick House Vineyards is a biodynamic vineyard and winery in the heart of the Willamette Valley, and one of the best wineries to visit in the Willamette Valley. We loved the personal and “one-on-one” experience at this winery.

When you arrive, you will be greeted by a member of the winemaking team who will give you a tour through the barn-turned-winery to see where the estate-grown wines are made. Then, you will be led through a seated tasting on the beautiful patio, where you can try current-release wines, including Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Gammy Noir.

Tastings at Brick House can be scheduled from Wednesday – Saturday. You can also schedule a vineyard tour with your tasting to have a chance to explore the estate for $60 per person.

  • Address: 18200 Lewis Rogers Lane, Newberg, Oregon 97132
  • Tasting Cost: $30 – $60 per person
  • Reservations Required: Yes

3. Domaine Roy & Fils

Domaine Roy & Fils is one of the best wineries to visit in the Willamette Valley for an elevated tasting experience with stunning views of the Dundee Hills. This winery has a strong commitment to organic farming and creating wines with purity and transparency.

Domaine Roy & Fils is open from 11 AM – 5 PM every day and offers three wine-tasting experiences: Origin Tasting, Iron + Quartz Tasting, and Heritage Tasting. Each experience offers something unique to accommodate every interest, palette, and budget.

The Origin Tasting is a 60-minute tasting of Pinot Noirs and costs $40 per person. The Iron + Quartz Tasting is a 60-minute experience and includes a curated flight of wines, including Chardonnays and Pinot Noirs, for $60 per person. The Heritage Tasting is a 90-minute experience that includes a tour of the vineyard and wine cellar, an in-depth tasting, and a charcuterie board for $100 per person.

  • Address: 8351 Northeast Worden Hill Road, Dundee, OR 97115
  • Tasting Cost: $40 – $100 per person

4. Sokol Blosser Winery

There are lots of wineries to choose from in the Willamette Valley, but one you won’t want to miss is Sokol Blosser Winery , situated between the towns of Dayton and Dundee. It’s a perfect stop on any  Oregon road trip and one of the best wineries to visit in the Willamette Valley!

Sokol Blosser was started in 1971 when Susan Sokol and Bill Blosser first planted vines in Oregon’s Dundee Hills – long before the area would become an AVA. Now a second-generation family-owned winery, Sokol Blosser crafts wines from certified organic grapes with a focus on sustainability. They are most known for their Pinot Noir but also make Chardonnay, White Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Gris, and sparkling wines under two labels.

You can take a tour of the vineyard and winery in Dayton, or simply visit the modern tasting from 10 AM – 4 PM. The tasting room offers up incredible views of the hillside vineyard and the surrounding Dundee Hills, and guided tastings last an impressive 75 minutes. Enjoy a Butcher’s Board along with the views as you work your way through a tasting flight. Just note that reservations for tastings and required and can be made online.

  • Address: 5000 NE Sokol Blosser Lane, Dayton, OR 97114
  • Tasting Cost: $35 per person

5. Cooper Mountain Vineyard

Cooper Mountain Vineyards is a family-owned, biodynamic, organic winery that took root in the Willamette Valley in 1978. This winery is just 25 minutes from Downtown Portland, so it is really easy to reach if you are staying in the city.

Cooper Mountain Vineyards hosts all their tastings under a shaded haven under an oak grove right next to one of the vineyards. It is perfect for tastings in all weather — rain or shine! If you have children, they are allowed to accompany you during the tasting, but they must always stay with you. The tasting is very informative and lasts for 75 minutes.

We loved the Outdoor Haven Tasting and felt like we were able to sample a generous amount of wine for the tasting price. If you are interested in a private tasting, you can book a 75-minute Indoor Rustic Barn Tasting at a private table for an additional cost.

  • Address: 20121 SW Leonardo Lane, Beaverton, OR 97007
  • Tasting Cost: $25 per person
  • Reservations Required: No, but highly recommended

6. Stoller Family Estate

Stoller Family Estate is one of the best wineries to visit in the Willamette Valley for its rich history. The Stoller Family established the property in 1943 and turned it into a vineyard 50 years later — and it still has the same family-friendly feel, with children and well-behaved dogs allowed to tag along with their parents.

Stoller Family Estate offers a 90-minute wine-tasting experience for $25 per person from 10:30 AM to 5:30 PM daily in the Heritage Tasting Room. The tasting includes five wines, and you can choose to order lunch or snacks to enjoy from the family-style lunch menu.

If you are looking for somewhere to relax, you can enjoy the Stoller Lawn on a beautiful sunny day — you can purchase wine and food from Stoller Family Estate and enjoy the lawn games provided (or bring your own).

  • Address: 16161 NE McDougall Rd, Dayton, OR 97114
  • Reservations Required: No, but strongly recommended

7. Andante Vineyard

Andante Vineyard is a family-owned winery situated in the Van Duzer Corridor AVA of Oregon’s  Willamette Valley . The star of their wines is the Sauvignon Blanc, which is not commonly produced in the region. In addition to regional staples like Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, Andante also plants niche crops such as Aligoté, which has become very popular.

Andante offers visitors the chance to taste their delicious wines through a wine tasting or a full experience with food pairings on Wednesday – Monday from 11:00 AM – 5 PM. Tastings include a flight of six estate wines, which can be enjoyed inside the rustic tasting room or outside on the new patio. They also regularly host events such as concerts, special wine-pairing dinners, and cooking classes.

Andante Vineyard is the perfect destination for anyone who wants to unwind in a laid-back atmosphere. Visitors can enjoy the beautiful views while tasting the estate wines and learning about the wine-making process. The winery’s commitment to organic and sustainable practices is also a great reason to visit. Andante’s excellent hospitality, relaxed atmosphere, and beautiful location make it the perfect spot for a special occasion or an afternoon getaway.

8. Lemelson Vineyards

Lemelson Vineyards is one of the best wineries to visit in the Willamette Valley for sweeping vineyard views and refreshing wines. Lemelson Vineyards produces primarily Pinot Noirs and select white wines, including Pinot Gris and Riesling.

Lemelson Vineyards is open for tastings from 11 AM – 4 PM daily. Tastings are hosted inside or on an outdoor patio. Well-behaved pets and outside food are permitted on the outdoor patio, so book an outside tasting if you would like to bring snacks to munch on with your wine.

The tasting costs $30 per person and includes five wines. Lemelson Vineyards also hosts special events, so keep your eye on their calendar!

  • Address: 12020 NE Stag Hollow Rd, Carlton, OR 97111
  • Tasting Cost: $30 per person

9. Compris Vineyard

Compris Vineyard is a 12.5-acre vineyard nestled in the Willamette Valley, less than an hour’s drive from the capital, and perfect for a  Portland weekend getaway . Previously called Vidon Vineyard, the family decided to sell the business in 2022. The new owners, Dru and Erin Allen renamed the enterprise Compris, which is French for “included, understood.” Compris celebrates its first anniversary on May 27–28th, 2023

Compris Vineyard transports visitors back to the earth, with the rows of earth embroidered with vines. The region’s varying climate and diversity of soil characterize its Chehalem Mountain AVA vineyard. Tasting flights cost $30 for the “nuanced and complex wines,” and reservations for tastings are recommended for weekends. They are conducted in the production space of the estate vineyard. Compris Vineyard grows a variety of grape varietals. The vineyard is open three days a week, Friday through Sunday, with three separate daily tastings.

After your tasting, purchase a bottle of wine and go out to relax on the rolling lawn and stare at the mountains. The outdoor gazebo can accommodate up to five people, and blankets and heaters are available on chilly days. Don’t forget to bring your pup — well-behaved dogs are welcome on a leash.

  • Address: 17425 NE Hillside Drive, Newberg, Oregon

Willamette Valley Vineyards offers two tastings that each include five wines: the Daily Wine Flight for $15 per person and the Reserve Flight for $20 per person. During your tasting, you can also order wine by the bottle and glass, or food for an additional charge.

While you are at Willamette Valley Vineyards, you can also book a Pairings Exploration Experience, Private Winery Tour & Tasting, and Pinot Noir Clonal Blending Experience — simply check the website for pricing. Tips for Visiting the Willamette Valley

Make tasting reservations in advance.  .

Most wineries in the Willamette Valley require you to make tasting reservations in advance. However, even if they don’t, it is wise to make reservations as least a month or so in advance at the popular wineries — especially on weekends and during the summer months!

Many wineries in the Willamette Valley are family-owned and run by a small team, so it is impossible for them to churn out hundreds of tastings in one day. Reservations are helpful to ensure they have an adequate number of staff available to host you.

Food options are limited.

Most wineries in the Willamette Valley are working vineyards — not restaurants. While you may find cheeseboards and quick snacks at the wineries, it is not common to find a full lunch or dinner menu that will keep you satisfied all day.

That said, add a winery that serves food to your wine-tasting itinerary, like Stoller Family Estate, or plan a lunch break somewhere in your day. Red Hills Market in Dundee is an excellent stop for gourmet sandwiches and wood-fired pizzas. McMinnville is a small town that also offers several top-rated restaurants, including Thistle, Pizza Capo, and La Rambla Restaurant & Social Room.

Some wineries will allow you to bring your own food to eat alongside your tasting, so you can always pack a picnic lunch to eat at a winery or in your car on the go. Even if you don’t bring lunch — bring some snacks to munch on.

Don’t overbook your wine-tasting day.

The Willamette Valley is huge — some wineries are more than an hour apart. If you want to visit multiple wineries in one day, it is doable, but it would be smart to make no more than 2–3 reservations. You probably will not be able to find a tasting earlier than 10 AM, and most wineries close between 4 PM to 5 PM.

You should plan to spend at least 90 minutes to two hours at each winery and plan another 30 minutes to one hour of travel time between wineries. I would recommend two wineries with a stop for lunch so you don’t feel rushed unless you book a tasting at a winery that serves food — in that case, three wineries may be doable!

Save some money in your budget.

Wine tasting in the Willamette Valley is not cheap. If you are used to paying $10 – $15 for a wine tasting, you may experience some “sticker shock” when you realize that most tastings in the Willamette Valley are between $25 – $40 per person!

However, it is important to understand wine tasting in the Willamette Valley is an experience. You will not be standing at a bar having wines poured into a plastic cup to sample with the pressure to buy a glass. You will be seated with a stunning backdrop and guided through the tasting process with a knowledgeable guide for an hour or 90 minutes.

These winemakers are proud of their craft — and when you pay for a tasting, you are helping to keep their small, local, and family-run winery in business. It is worth the money — just be sure to budget at least $100 per person for a day of wine tasting in the Willamette Valley.

Book a tour from Portland .

If you are staying in Portland without a car or do not have a designated driver, you can still enjoy some of the best wineries to visit in the Willamette Valley. Here are a few top-rated wine tours to choose from, with transportation included.

  • Willamette Valley Wine Tour with Lunch —This full-day trip from Portland with round-trip transportation includes stops at 3–5 wineries in the Willamette Valley and a wine country-style lunch.
  • Willamette Valley Wine-Tasting Tour from Portland —During this small-group tour from Portland, you will visit three wineries and sample award-winning wines while enjoying the gorgeous countryside.
  • Small Group: Willamette Valley Wine Tour from Portland — This small-group, full-day, wine-tasting tour from Portland includes transportation and wine-tasting fees for three wineries in the Willamette Valley.

So easy to use! They stop by your winery every half hour so it’s super simple to plan. They had complimentary waters and had a place to store the wine you buy. They tag your bottles so it doesn’t get confused for someone else’s. They were very friendly and accommodating. We had Paul and he was great!

Susie B Review for NW Wine Shuttle

We went on the NW Wine Shuttle in June and we had such a wonderful time and experience! They have a list of great wineries to visit, and the hop on hop off is such a great concept. Thank you and we definitely want to come back!

Mary C Review for NW Wine Shuttle

This service is a no brainer. Leave the driving to someone else while you concentrate on wine tasting. Friendly drivers, clean vans and a convenient hub.

Christina S Review for NW Wine Shuttle

Christina S.

A MUST when visiting Portland’s gorgeous wine country. There’s a pick up and drop off in downtown which is wonderful if you’re not spending the night in the area. We got picked up at the Red Hills Inn hub which was super easy and convenient as well. Paul, our driver was great and was always on time. Very clean and friendly ride. Definitely using the service again. Can’t wait to go back.

Lovingly ripped off from the 1975 comedy film "Monty Python and the Holy Grail" (Rotten Tomatoes: 98%). Best time to travel: June for the “White Nights” Best gateway city: Moscow and St. Petersburg, Russia Moscow and St. Petersburg Slide Show

Experience the art treasures of Moscow and St. Petersburg with guide, Amy Osaki. Begin in Moscow, continental Europe’s largest city, the seat of the government of Russia, and now home to over twenty billionaires! View iconic sites such as the Kremlin (which began as a fortress in the eleventh century), Red Square, and the sixteenth century St. Basil’s Cathedral. Then explore the art masterpieces at the Tretyakov Gallery, the National Museum of Russian Fine Art encompassing works from the eleventh to the twentieth century. Visit the Armory at the Kremlin filled with Imperial treasures including Faberge eggs once exchanged by the tsar and tsarina at Easter. Conclude your Moscow experience at the quiet seventeenth century Novodevichy Convent, one of many World Heritage sites included in the trip.

After a short flight, continue the trip with five days in St. Petersburg where you’ll be immersed in the opulence of Imperial Russia. Established by Tsar Peter I in 1703, St. Petersburg (known as Petrograd and Leningrad for most of the twentieth century) was the capital of the Russian empire for over two hundred years until the Russian Revolution of 1917. The Hermitage—said to be the largest art museum in the world with a collection of over three million objects housed in four main buildings—rivals the Louvre in Paris for both the quantity and quality of its treasures. Founded in 1764 by Catherine the Great, and open to the pubic for over two hundred years the museum is so vast that we’ll spread our visit out over several days and organize it by different themes. Also on the schedule is a visit to the Peter and Paul Fortress—the original citadel above the river founded in 1703—as well as some of the Imperial palaces in and around St. Petersburg such as Peterhof, a World Heritage Site. Peter I hired French architects to work on his many palaces, including Jean Baptiste Le Blond who worked with Andre Le Notre at Versailles. Consider enhancing your Russian experience by purchasing tickets to a performance—perhaps a ballet at St. Petersburg’s Mariinsky Theatre (also known as the Kirov).

Day 1 Overnight in Moscow Arrive in Moscow and transfer to your centrally-located hotel, your base for the next two nights. Enjoy an afternoon and early evening walk through Red Square (Krasnaya Ploshchad) past St. Basil’s Cathedral, and GUM department store all of which are back-dropped by the walls of the Kremlin fortress. Remember that we are here during the fabled “White Nights” when the summer days linger with light-filled evenings.

Day 2 Overnight in Moscow Within the walls of the Kremlin fortress, visit the Armoury Museum, one of Moscow’s oldest museums established at the start of the nineteenth century. The Kremlin Armoury was the royal arsenal; it produced and stored the weapons, jewelry and other regalia of the tsars. The museum’s collection encompasses four thousand items of applied art from Russia and elsewhere dating from the early fourth century to the twentieth century. Later in the day, visit the collection of masterpieces of the renowned Tretyakov Gallery. The Tretyakov collections were begun by the philanthropist Tretyakov brothers in the early nineteenth century. The gallery is recognized by many as a key repository of Russian art spanning the nation’s artistic tradition from early Orthodox icons to art nouveau, impressionist, and avant-garde works.

Day 3 Overnight in St Petersburg Enjoy a morning visit to the sixteenth century Novodevichy Convent named a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 2004. The convent’s name is sometimes translated as “New Maidens’ Monastery” to differentiate is from the convent within the walls of the Moscow Kremlin. Surrounded by white crenellated walls, this complex of churches has remained essentially intact since the seventeenth century. Here you’ll find the five-domed Cathedral of Our Lady of Smolensk with its spectacular iconostasis and the tall, red and white Gate Church of the Transfiguration which is often cited as a fine example of “Moscow Baroque” architecture. The neighboring Novodevichy Cemetery is the final resting place of the likes of Anton Chekhov, Sergei Prokofiev, Dmitri Shostakovich, and Boris Yeltsin. This afternoon fly to St. Petersburg, Russia’s second largest city situated on the banks of the Neva River where it empties into the Gulf of Finland.

Day 4 Overnight in St Petersburg Start of your exploration of St. Petersburg with a visit to the Peter and Paul Fortress, the original citadel of St. Petersburg. The fortress was built to the designs of the Swiss Italian architect Domenico Trezzini in the early eighteenth century. Trezzini’s Peter and Paul Cathedral dominates the fortress grounds and its iconic golden spire punctuates into the Baltic sky. Later visit the Yusupov Palace on the Moika, acclaimed as an “encyclopedia of St. Petersburg aristocratic interior design.” The palace was the home of the Yusupov family from 1830 and 1917 and was the place where Grigori Rasputin, a spiritual mentor to Tsar Nicholas II and the Royal Family in the early 20th century, was assassinated. A visit to the Church of the Savior on Spilled Blood built between 1883 and 1907 rounds out the day. The church was built in “Russian Revivalist” architectural style by Tsar Alexander III in commemoration of his father, Alexander II. The church occupies a conspicuous location on St. Petersburg’s Griboedov Canal and contains 7,500 square meters of mosaics; the interior walls and ceilings are completely covered by mosaics.

Day 5 Overnight in St Petersburg Seeing St. Petersburg’s Hermitage Museum in a day would be like trying to see the Smithsonian in a day! Rather than a forced march through the galleries at a rapid pace, we will slow down and savor the masterpieces. Remember, there are nearly seven miles worth of exhibitions! Today we focus on “Imperial Russia,” touring the rooms decorated for members of the Russian Imperial Family and viewing the art they commissioned and collected. This is the art that influenced the style of the grand palaces of the era. View the Grand Suite of rooms, Peter I’s collection of gold, and the jewelers art owned by the Russian Imperial Family (including Fabergé eggs, gold and diamonds). Here, too, are the rooms of Catherine II and her son Paul I with their fifteenth to eighteenth century French paintings and sculpture (Poussin, Watteau, Fragonard, Chardin, and Houdon).

Day 6 Overnight in St Petersburg Return for a second dose of the Hermitage! Today is dedicated to the famous European masterpieces exhibited at the Hermitage. Feast your eyes on memorable works by Leonardo da Vinci, Raphael, Michelangelo, Tintoretto, Tiepolo, Velazquez, and El Greco. At the Hermitage, you can revel in Rembrandt; there are twenty of his works in the museum’s collection. After lunch, enjoy the eighteenth to twentieth century masterpieces of Monet, van Gogh, Gauguin, Rodin, Picasso, Matisse and Kandinsky. Digest the art and reflect on this unique collection of human creations. Consider an evening performance, possibly at the Mariinsky Theatre.

Day 7 Overnight in St Petersburg Journey by hydrofoil across the Gulf of Finland to experience Peter I’s palace at Peterhof, a series of palaces and gardens that evoke comparisons with Versailles which Peter visited in 1715. Begun in 1714 with the construction of the Monplaisir palace and expanded by later Imperial generations who added Rococo and Neo-classical elements, Peterhof is now a World Heritage Site. The creative mastery of architects, engineers, artists and craftsmen from throughout Europe is on display here and all is choreographed to celebrate water in homage to Peter, the maritime emperor.

Day 8 Overnight in St Petersburg Go behind the scenes with an excursion to the Hermitage Museum’s Staraya Derevnya Restoration and Storage Center on the right back of the Neva River north of Kamenny Island. This vast treasure house is only accessible by private tour. Later, travel to Vasilvesky Island across the river from the Hermitage to visit Menishkov Palace completed in 1721 and now the oldest stone building in St. Petersburg. Enjoy a farewell dinner this evening.
