Check-Out What Our Customers Say! ★★★★★

I went with two others and we all agreed we had an amazing time. We felt very taken care of by our tour guide, Matt. When you're not from the area, you can feel really vulnerable when you're high. However, Matt always checked in at the right times and made the experience really fun. The bus was equipped with every tool you could want, and had water which was a really sweet thought. The stops were awesome, my favorite was a local skate park. I would definitely recommend spending your day on this experience, it made me and my boyfriend fall in love with Portland!

We went for a brewery tour for Father's Day and this was by far the best party bus I've been on. Fun exterior and the driver was extremely kind, accommodating, and safe. We all felt very taken care of the entire time, including the water and snacks on the bus. I would highly recommend this for your next event.

The tour guide is passionate and personable, and immediately created a chill, welcoming environment for the experience. The locations chosen to visit were clearly chosen with the intention to share the Classic Portland Experience. This experience is for everyone - Toking Tourists who want to see Portland, or Locals who love the Cannabis Culture. I did go with a friend, but would have definitely had fun and felt safe alone because of how inclusive and respectful the scene is, and because of the community environment the Tour Guide created.

The Potlandia Experience was a great time! We used their service for a company event and our guests thoroughly enjoyed the "trip". Matt, the owner and driver was the perfect combination of professional and fun. I hope to use his services again in the future.

I've been on the bus multiple times and took it down to Medford with my team. Everyone loved the bus and made this trip so much better then last time! Thanks Potlandia for the amazing day/night out!

Complete Guide to a Cannabis Road Trip in Portland, OR

In July of 2016, Portland, Oregon, legalized weed . It has been a long time coming, and many people in the United States believe that weed should be legal in every state. For now, though, most are grateful for an excuse to go on a road trip through Oregon. From the time weed was legalized, people worldwide began booking their tickets to experience a Portland weed tour. In nearly every other country in the world, going on a cannabis trip will land you straight in jail. However, Oregon marijuana laws make cannabis tours in Portland not only possible but a highly sought-after vacation. As long as you are over twenty-one and do not consume cannabis in public, you can enjoy the green leafy substance to your heart’s content.

Cannabis Experience In Portland, Oregon

In contrast to Amsterdam, where coffee shops are heavily associated with cannabis use, public consumption laws in Oregon have slowed the establishment of comparable public smoking lounges like those in Amsterdam. A few enterprising businesses have devised a workaround by establishing private clubs where you may engage in the festivities without violating any laws. If you are planning to go on a Portland weed tour, such places should be at the top of your list to visit. Oregon pot farms are also one of the must-see places Oregon for all travelers. The source of that weed you are smoking is a plant. And the plant comes from a farm. The farms are typically indoor so that the growers can control the environment. That said, there are some marijuana farms in Oregon that are outdoor. Outdoor pot plants usually do not produce as potent or reliable a harvest, as there are many uncontrollable factors, like weather, that growers need to consider. A pot farm is an excellent stop to add to your weed tour of Portland. The economy in Portland, Oregon, was boosted heavily by the legalization of marijuana. Estimates report that since legalization, over 12,500 jobs have been created with cumulative annual wages of $315 million by Oregon’s medical and recreational marijuana industry, which means a total economic impact of nearly $1.2 billion per year. That is an excellent indicator that you are heading in the right direction for people interested in going on a Portland weed tour or anywhere else in Oregon.

Hotel 420 Packages

With the surging demand for cannabis trips by people who live in states and countries still enforcing draconian laws that make it illegal to smoke, the reefer, the state of Oregon and Portland, in particular, have risen to the occasion. There are hotels and shops all over that make going on a cannabis tour in Portland not only simple but an incredible experience for wide-eyed tourists. What is a 420 package? Well, some hotels around Portland will put a box of 420 friendly goodies on your bed to welcome your arrival. Unfortunately, it won’t include actual cannabis. Still, with the availability of a wide variety of fantastic cannabis nearby any hotel that you book, your Portland weed tour will undoubtedly not be affected. Inside the box will be things like a t-shirt, hat, stickers, and other cool gear that will jump-start your cannabis tour in Portland the right way. 420 Packages are common practice but are typically an extra charge that you can select when booking your room.

Cannabis Dispensary Tours

What better way to enjoy your Portland weed tour than by spending time at the best dispensaries in Portland ? For anyone old enough to enter a dispensary, most are also old enough to remember what it was like without them. And for people having a cannabis tour in Portland and visiting from a state where marijuana is an illegal substance, walking into a dispensary is like walking into a mirage chamber. Is it even real? Can you purchase weed with a credit card? Woah, are those marijuana plants in the middle of the store real? Yes, to everything. As you browse the goods, you will probably notice the unbelievable strength some of the weed advertises. Well, all of the buds you see in the store come from one of the many Oregon pot farms. Marijuana farms in Oregon have all but perfected the art of growing marijuana.

Cannabis Restaurant

cannabis restaurants in Oregon

A cannabis restaurant is like any ordinary restaurant, except the food is infused with weed. You can typically order non-cannabis food, but the food that gets you high gives them their popularity. Great cannabis dishes are things like pizza, baked goods, smoothies, and other drinks. The atmosphere in these restaurants is always very laid back and inviting. It takes anywhere from thirty to ninety minutes for the high to kick in when you ingest weed, so after you finish your meal, relax and feel yourself slowly drift into the promised land as you chat the night away.

There are only a few states in the US that have legalized marijuana . The states that have legalized it have seen a dramatic rise in economic prosperity and boast some of the happiest residents in the country. Why wouldn’t people want to take a weed holiday there; who doesn’t want to be among other happy people? Whatever your interest is when it comes to marijuana. Maybe it’s the dispensaries or the farms or a chilled-out weed cafe. Whatever you are looking for on your cannabis tour in Portland, your fix is always in abundance, with a type of quality that is unmatched.

A very informative tour. I would recommend this to anyone wanting to know more about hemp.

Hemp

My best friend was visiting from Seattle and I took him on a tour with Tristone & Stacie Dred for a surprise birthday present - and it turned out to be one of the most awesome things ever! I called prior the the tour and talked to Stacie a bit about what we were interested in seeing, then let them come up with a custom tour plan. We started at a local dispensary where we enjoyed some CBD coffee and went through a presentation regarding the history of legalization in Oregon, along with some cannabis chemistry and other topics of interest. From there we went to another dispensary where we got a tour from the site manager, along with a most excellent swag bag (that was basically worth what we paid for the tour itself) and a few complimentary rollies. As I indicated my interest in hemp, we were then able to tour a working hemp farm. Even though it was after harvest, we got to see massive piles of de-budded plant stocks, as well as 500+ lb bags of CBD bud ready to send out for processing. The farm owner was on hand, and we got to have a nice little chat as we enjoyed some product we picked up at the previous stop. From there we got to finish up at a local lab, which was beyond fascinating - not at all what I imagined. Can't say enough about how awesome Tris and Stacie are. If there is ever an official "Ambassador of Cannabis" position in Bend, it will have to be jointly shared. My buddy is looking forward to his next visit, and we look forward to taking the tour again and letting them come up with another unique path. Seriously... would give this 10, or better yet, 100 stars if possible. Tristone and Stacie Dred also host a weekly Cannabis & Raggae radio show on Monday nights at 88.9 FM or online at KPOV.ORG... check it out if you get a chance!

Cloning sounds scientific and inaccessible. To an extent, it is, even when the word refers to cannabis cultivation and not the thing scientists occasionally do to sheep. Southern Oregon:

Tour begins with their meet and greet in the plaza of beautiful downtown Ashland. Hop in the van and roll to Green Valley Wellness Cannabis Dispensary. These guys partner with some of the best growers in Southern Oregon. They’re also a 6 time “Leafly Award Winner”; ranked as one of Oregon’s top cannabis dispensaries. The amazing staff’s going to give us a quick download about some specific strains, and what we’re really looking for in a marijuana experience. You will also receive a 20-dollar credit towards your purchase. The 2nd stop is Jacksonville... for some world-class wine, alongside the Applegate River at Red Lily Vineyards. They’re most popular for their Spanish style Tempranillio. And let me tell you, it’s like drinking pure bliss. The 3rd stop is the Terpene Cup Awards at Pacifica Gardens in Williams. The Terpene Cup judges flower entirely upon taste and smell... as opposed to potency. It’s all about... you guessed it... the terpenes. Next, we’ll visit our friends at Jefferson Spirits for CBD Craft Cocktails and dinner. They’ve crafted a special experience... just for us. Jefferson Spirits, a stable in Southern Oregon, excels in crafting specialty cocktails (that will stimulate the mind and relax the body). We’ll also indulge in fresh sushi from Sakana, one of Ashland newer and most popular restaurants. Lastly, we offer an end to our tour, each tour being different. Overall, if you’re in Southern Oregon, this is one of the best and only cannabis tours you’ll find. These tours are seldom, so you’ll have to make sure you plan accordingly.

The complete guide to cannabis tourism in Portland, Oregon

Apr 19, 2021 • 9 min read

cannabis tours oregon

Portland, Oregon has long been known for its lush landscape, quirky culture, and a connoisseur's affection for coffee beans and resinous hops. So it shouldn’t be a big surprise that, since recreational dispensaries started popping up across the Beaver State starting in 2015, Stumptown has also embraced another funky feel-good ingredient: cannabis.

Editor's note: during  COVID-19  there may be additional travel restrictions. Check the latest guidance in before planning a trip, and always follow local government health advice.

A rainbow-hued pipe packed with cannabis is held up in front of the Portland, Oregon skyline at dusk

Portland, Oregon has emerged right up there with Denver and California on the bucket lists of many travelers hoping to try weed the legal way, not to mention dedicated cannatourists who enjoy checking out the scene in non-prohibition destinations coast to coast.

From chic stoner boutiques to traveling party buses to luxe spa services to canna-friendly hotels and other lodging, there have never been more ways to experience Portland’s robust cannabis scene. Here’s everything you need to know about experiencing the Rose City from a higher perspective.

Three rows of edible cannabis products are arranged on a white wire shelf at a Portland, Oregon cannabis dispensary. They include salted cannabutter, fudgy brownies, and an infused nut mix

How to stay on the right side of the law

Cannabis may be legal in Oregon, but that doesn’t mean you can partake without following a few ground rules. For one, you must be twenty-one or older to purchase and use cannabis in Oregon. For another, it’s illegal to consume cannabis in public. That means no firing up a joint in bars and you technically shouldn’t puff, puff pass as you saunter down the street, either.

Many apartment buildings and hotels forbid smoking of any sort, too – cannabis or tobacco. So don’t burn unless you’re staying in a short-term rental, hotel room, hostel, or other lodging specifically billed as 420-friendly. That said, edibles, tinctures, topicals, infused toothpicks and other smoke-free methods of cannabis consumption will keep you in the good graces of hosts and hoteliers even if you're in the public eye.

Possession limits set by the state of Oregon are set at one ounce of usable marijuana on your person in public or 8 ounces of usable marijuana in your home, 16 ounces of a cannabinoid product in solid form, 72 ounces of a cannabinoid product in liquid form, or five grams of cannabinoid extracts or concentrates. But it’s unlikely the casual consumer will need to worry about going over those limits, especially if you’re only purchasing what you need to enjoy over a short visit to Portland.

Naturally, you don’t want to run the risk of driving under the influence while using cannabis. If you’re planning on heading out and about after enjoying a cannabis product, plan on taking advantage of Portland’s robust public transit network, enjoying a walk, using a ride-share service or taxi, or booking a trip with a cannabis tour company.

420-friendly hotels and bud-and-breakfasts

The Jupiter Hotel  has famously offered various packages and special events for smokers and tokers, an add-on that fits right in with the property’s rock ‘n’ roll vibe (they also offer a tattoo-themed package ). This retro-futurist motor lodge in the hip Buckman neighborhood is part of a broader entertainment complex that includes the Doug Fir Lounge, a bar, restaurant and concert venue. That said, don’t run amuk of the $150 smoke cleaning fee that still applies to your room even if you add-on the goodies.

If you prefer the B&B vibe to a traditional hotel, head to The Doctor’s House – a cozy “bud & breakfast” in the artsy Alberta District. This art deco home (and former speakeasy) is very cozy and overflowing with hospitality. Your host is an expert in edibles, cannabis cocktails and tinctures and has a variety of glass pipes and other smoking paraphernalia available for guests to use indoors or out. You can stock up at Uplift Botanicals a few blocks away or the festively named Electric Lettuce Alberta Dispensary.

Where to smoke cannabis in Portland

Unlike Amsterdam , where coffee shops are practically synonymous (for tourists, anyways) with cannabis use, public consumption laws in Oregon have hampered the development of similar public smoking lounges. That said, a few intrepid entrepreneurs have found a work around by creating private clubs where you can partake without breaking any rules.

Flight Lounge  is a private club which operates on a lifetime membership model, managed to survive the COVID-19 pandemic, and is conveniently located in happening southeast Portland. They also have a second location, the Flight Lounge Cafe on Sandy Boulevard and a  bud-and-breakfast hotel  with two suites to choose from.

High 5 Tours takes the private club loophole on the road, with a private party bus equipped with munchie snacks, beverages, and equipment like lighters, rolling papers, USB charging ports and dab nails so you can enjoy your stash while visiting destinations like Multnomah Falls, Vista House, Portland’s famous food carts and even the Green Choice cannabis farm.

Whichever tour you pick, High 5’s 2011 Ford Eldorado bus will travel to dispensaries like Electric Lettuce so you can pick up some bud before their knowledgeable, entertaining guides will fill you in on Portland history and culture while you sit back, blaze and enjoy the ride. If you’re traveling with a group, keep in mind that you can also rent out the bus for a private party on wheels.

Editor's note: while High 5 Tours temporarily closed during the pandemic, they will be resuming tours in April and tickets have been on sale since February.

Portland, Oregon dispensaries

There is no shortage of places to purchase quality cannabis in Portland, that’s for sure. When in doubt, though, you can always head to the “Green Mile,” a section of Sandy Boulevard known for its proliferation of dispensaries and cannabis companies.

Some favorites around town include sleek, beginner-friendly weed boutiques like Oregrown ,  Farma and Virtue Supply Company  which have the clean minimalism of an Apple Store. Meanwhile, connoisseurs often flock to Archive for hard-to-find varietals and concentrates.

Other dispensaries are conveniently located by complimentary businesses.  Cannabliss  on West Burnside Street, for example, is neighbors with Straight From New York Pizza, where you can get a $4.20 slice-and-a-drink special if you show your receipt from next door.

Tokers who like a little social justice with their smoke will dig The People’s Dispensary , a queer and POC-owned outfit dedicated to equity in the industry, and Green Hop , a dispensary that celebrates both cannabis and hip-hop in what was once one of Portland’s historically black neighborhoods.

Wherever you choose to shop, if you served in the military be sure to ask your budtender if there's a special for you. Many dispensaries offer a discount for veterans, too. And at any dispensary, be sure you have your ID and grab some cash from the ATM – most can't process credit cards because cannabis is still illegal at a federal level.

Even more shopping

That said, there’s more to shop for than just glass and greenery. If you’re hoping to take a souvenir home, buy a gift for a friend, or spend your money on a cool cannabis-adjacent experience, there’s a lot of options beyond picking up some joints at your corner head shop.

The Make and Mary  are purveyors of top-quality skin care products made from organic, non-GMO and Oregon-grown ingredients. They also sell candles, t-shirts, jewelry and other products which all feel more VSCO-girl chic in aesthetic than Cheech and Chong. In addition to retail, Make and Mary hosts events focused on self-care that sometimes include cannabis, from tincture workshops to "elevated" yoga to sound baths to loom weaving.

Greater Goods is a brand-new, CBD-focused shop in the Buckman neighborhood that stocks small-batch edibles like strawberry truffles, marshmallow bonbons, and fizzy fruity candies infused with non-intoxicating CBD. Greater Goods also serves coffee, tea, and treats like hot CBD drinking chocolate. They were one of the one of the first companies to come out of The Initiative , a local business accelerator for female cannabis entrepreneurs.

Local bookshops like the iconic Powell’s City of Books also have a wide selection of cannabis-related literature on shelf, in case you want to read up on everything from the basics of smoking weed to horticulture and ethnobotany to cooking and baking, or the intersection of travel and cannabis.

A hot pink cocktail garnished with a lime and with an equally pink plastic straw sits in a highball glass on a coaster reading Donnie Vegas upside down in a fluorescent cursive script. On the right side of the frame is a paperback book by Colin Hogg entitled "The High Road" in a matching pink font

Fun events for weed tourists in Portland

There are several events on the Portland cannabis community’s calendar that are well worth incorporating into your travel itinerary, and have as much to do with arts and culture as savoring a good high.

Spliff Film Festival , which has tour dates in Seattle and San Francisco as well, is returning to Portland for a little pre- 04/20 goodness on April 18th, 2020. Cinephiles will enjoy these shorts from around the world that celebrate the highs, lows and laughs of life with cannabis.

The Gateway Show is a multi-state comedy tour that comes through Portland’s Funhouse Lounge on the regular. The premise is simple: the comedians on the bill that night do one set sober before spending the intermission toking up in an undisclosed location. When they return, they do a second set under the influence, and wackiness – and hilarity– ensue.

Tokeativity is an empowering community for women in cannabis that hosts events in multiple legal cities, including Portland. Check their calendar to see what’s happening during your time in the Rose City, as they have socials centered around a wide variety of topics from meetups for women over 50 (their Silver Society ) to gatherings for medical marijuana patients to vision board workshops.

Before you head to the airport

While it’s true that Chalice Farms has a dispensary just ten minutes drive from the PDX airport, that doesn’t mean you’re allowed to partake on airport property, and you definitely don’t want to run afoul of TSA security agents who are adhering to federal regulations rather than state laws.

While the TSA has stated previously they are more worried about sniffing out security threats than searching for a few leftover gummies at the bottom of your backpack, they are obligated to contact law enforcement if they find something.

In other words, finish your stash or gift it to another weed tourist before you depart, and don’t forget to dispose of any leftover cannabis before you try to go through security, hop on the train, or drive across state lines (unless you're headed to California and Washington, that is). While it can be a lot of fun to enjoy cannabis during your time in Oregon, nothing kills your buzz faster than getting busted on your way out of the Beaver State.

7 places to visit and tours to experience Portland's cannabis culture, according to an Oregon local

  • Cannabis has been recreationally legal in Oregon since 2015.
  • For the 21+ in Portland, there are various dispensaries that sell cannabis products and accessories.
  • Here's where to go, according to a Portland local.

In Oregon, marijuana has been recreationally legal since July 2015.

cannabis tours oregon

The state legalized recreational cannabis in July 2015 , and before that, it had been available for medicinal use since 1998 .

Now, those over the age of 21 are able to purchase and use cannabis flower, as well as cannabis-derived products like edibles, concentrates, topicals, tinctures, and extracts.

I grew up in Oregon and watched the cannabis industry grow after legalization.

cannabis tours oregon

I hear all about the changes from working in the news industry myself, and also from my husband, who worked in the cannabis industry while it expanded over the past seven years until recently.

Since 2015, I've seen a lot change. There are now more than 800 dispensaries around the state, according to the Oregon Liquor Control Commission , open to those over the age of 21, selling flower buds, edibles, glass accessories, and more.

Portland follows Oregon state law when it comes to marijuana sales and restrictions.

cannabis tours oregon

Those over the age of 21 are allowed to purchase marijuana for recreational use.

However, you can't smoke in public (doing so could get you a citation), and you can't drive while under the influence. You also cannot take any marijuana products purchased in Oregon across state lines, including plant seeds, as these items are still federally illegal.

At dispensaries in Portland and throughout the state, employees with ask to see an ID to verify you're over 21, or over 18 with a registered medical marijuana card.

For those visiting Portland who may be curious, I think one of the best ways to learn about the city's cannabis culture is by visiting local dispensaries. Here's where you can find some of my favorite small businesses in Portland that sell recreational cannabis products and accessories, plus where to book a quirky cannabis-themed bus tour.

For the budget-conscious, Nectar and Parlour Cannabis Shop dispensaries have daily discounts and specials.

cannabis tours oregon

Parlour Cannabis Shop is located in southwest Portland's Raleigh Hills. The store is designed to look like an antique barbershop, and has soft lighting that I think creates a calm and welcoming atmosphere. I've always found the staff to be polite and proactive in serving customers.

The menu has a premium flower selection, concentrates, edibles, and pre-rolls, among other items, and the shop has a sale or deal every day of the week. I also appreciate that Parlour lists the daily specials on their website, which I haven't seen from many other local dispensaries. The discounts typically are 15% off various products like edibles, topicals, tinctures, extracts, or flower.

Another shop for the budget-conscious is Nectar , a local dispensary chain that has several locations throughout the city and state. The shop sells flower, concentrates, edibles, topicals, smoke accessories, and logo souvenirs like sweatshirts and caps.

I think Nectar is a convenient option for finding a good deal as the various locations regularly have rotating, week-long specials on numerous products. And in my experience, the chain has a consistently friendly approach with shoppers.

Green Front can be a pricey dispensary, but I've found it often has the highest quality products.

cannabis tours oregon

Green Front is a dispensary with two locations in the northern end of Portland. Prices here are higher than at Parlour Cannabis Shop or Nectar, but, in my opinion, the products are worth it if you're willing to splurge. Here, the buds are large, fresh, and dense with trichomes , which are tiny growths on cannabis flower that make for a more flavorful smoking experience.

I also appreciate that the store stays up to date with new releases in the cannabis industry, like new strains of flower and popular tinctures. Green Front also keeps a substantial stock of products from popular high-end brands.

For an excursion, take a tour to visit different dispensaries on a bus with a designated driver.

cannabis tours oregon

Potlandia Experience is a tour company that runs a rock n' roll-themed trip around Portland on a 12-seater, green and purple tour bus. I think this is a convenient and safe way to partake freely, as the bus includes a designated driver, so attendees don't have to worry about smoking and driving, and instead can enjoy privacy inside the bus and enjoy views of driving around Portland.

The business has tours every Friday through Sunday, and has two different tours: The Potlandia Experience, and the Weed and Waterfalls tour.

On the Potlandia Experience, attendees are driven to visit several dispensaries around the city, and also stop by local microbreweries and food cart pods. The Weed and Waterfalls tour takes riders on a trip outside of Portland to the Columbia River Gorge for nature sightseeing and leisurely hikes, and attendees can consume marijuana on the bus ride.

Each tour costs $79 per person, and lasts for four hours. I think the Weed and Waterfalls tour is a fun option for visitors who want to see the state's nature outside of Portland, while the Potlandia Experience I'd recommend to those who prefer discovering new food scenes.

I think one of the best stops on the Potlandia experience tour is Electric Lettuce in the Lloyd District, one of four of the chain's locations around town. I always recognize an Electric Lettuce shop from its rainbow branding, which is usually painted on the building's steps or as a mural.

For cannabis-infused edibles and tinctures, visit the walkable Slabtown District for a handful of curated shops.

cannabis tours oregon

MindRite is in the Slabtown district near the upscale Pearl District, which is a very walkable area. I never miss this dispensary thanks to its bright yellow walls and tree of medicine mural on the door. The business also has a sidewalk window counter, so you can walk right up to the open window and order your products, without having to go inside.

I'd recommend MindRite particularly for its edibles and tinctures, as the shop has a nicely curated supply of these items at reasonable prices, in my opinion. When I've visited, the shop has always had the latest edibles on the market, from cookies and gummies to tinctures meant for sublingual consumption.

Sublingual consumption means putting the tincture under your tongue to absorb, a method that has a faster onset time compared to edibles that are chewed and digested, according to Fluent Cannabis . For this reason, MindRite would be my pick for visitors looking for a good-quality product that acts fast.

Also in Slabtown, Power Plant on Thurman has quality concentrates and a taqueria next door.

cannabis tours oregon

Power Plant on Thurman is a spot I like to stop into when I'm shopping in Uptown, which is what Portland locals like me call Northwest 23rd Avenue, a trendy street filled with boutiques that's not far from the Slabtown area.

The dispensary is in a two-story historic building with a pharmacy-style storefront. There's a generous selection of dabs and quality concentrates like rosin, live and cured resin , and other extracts .

Another perk of Power Plant is that it's located next to Cha! Cha! Cha!, a locally-owned taqueria with incredible house-made tortillas. The restaurant is a great stop, in my opinion, to satiate munchies with an order of tacos, burritos, or enchiladas.

Downtown, Serra has a luxurious shopping experience and high-end products.

cannabis tours oregon

Serra is a thoughtfully curated dispensary in the heart of downtown Portland. I think this store has a more luxurious shopping experience compared to other dispensaries in town. Coming here reminds me of being in a high-end, designer store, and makes me feel like I'm shopping for quality items.

It's a clean shop with an upscale ambience, and products are displayed neatly on wood shelves and in delicate glass cases. There are both affordable and high-end products sold at Serra, including flower, edibles, concentrates, and sleek glass accessories.

Several dispensaries in town also sell unique glass smoking products and accessories.

cannabis tours oregon

If you're looking for a glass pipe or piece, there are several stores I recommend.

In Southeast Portland, Green Oasis is a dispensary that I think is the best mom and pop-style joint in the area. It's family-owned and located in the historical Sellwood neighborhood, and a fun place to pick up glass pieces, in my experience. The store has a vibrant, ever-changing display with fun and unique designs at good prices, and sometimes a discounted $5 dish of colorful, small pieces to choose from, too.

Besides glass accessories, Green Oasis also has a full menu of cannabis products and a pre-roll joint selection. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, and just what I'd expect from a neighborhood dispensary.

Another dispensary, Oregon's Finest, is grower-owned and operated and focuses on "top-shelf" items. In my experience, the flower sold here is always of a high quality. The store has a variety of uniquely designed glass accessories — I once saw a double bowl glass that was shaped like a cherry, and another unique art piece that doubled as a smokable pipe.

I especially appreciate how the dispensary showcases new, popular strains in beautiful glass jars that always catch my eye. With popular brands and aesthetically-pleasing displays, this is one of my favorite shops to show friends when they're in town.

Overall, Portland is a welcoming place for visitors looking to explore cannabis culture.

cannabis tours oregon

In my experience, dispensaries around town are accommodating and inviting, and employees are more than happy to share their knowledge about cannabis products for sale.

If you do visit Portland in search of cannabis, remember to follow local laws , and don't smoke in public.

SEE WHAT'S NEW IN:

Cannabis tourism in oregon.

Welcome to Eugene! Among the many things you’ve come here to enjoy we hope you can take time to experience part of the recreational cannabis movement that has grown to become a reputable part of Eugene culture and economics. If you’re just visiting, we’ll give you a few tips that will make your trip cannabis-inclusive and stress-free.

We’ll start by saying that the Eugene, Cascade & Coast region has a wealth of everything from small mom-and-pop dispensaries, to fully integrated, craft cannabis companies supplying everything from seed to sale. The area boasts over 80 storefronts, but no matter where you end up there are a few things you’ll need before making your recreational cannabis purchase.

Oregon Law requires verification of a valid (unexpired), government-issued photo ID at the point of purchase and many shops will require it at the door as a precaution. You don’t need to be a resident of Oregon to purchase cannabis recreationally, however, Oregon only recognizes Oregon Medical Marijuana Program cards for those seeking medical purchases. You’ll also want to bring cash (although not a necessity). Since federal banking regulations have not fully caught up with state cannabis legalization, some dispensaries are on a cash-only basis (although a good majority of locations provide an ATM on site, and some shops even accept major credit cards).

Cannabis Products

When you enter the dispensary of your choice there are a few things you’ll want to decide before making a purchase. The first is in what way you’d like to consume your cannabis. Those vacationing in hotels and rentals will want to consult the property rules on smoking and cannabis possession and may want to opt for smoke-free items such as edibles or topicals. If your rental allows consumption or you're staying at a residence with friends and family, you can even get cannabis delivered to your door! Not all dispensaries offer delivery, but there's an increasing number providing this service at little to no extra charge. Give the shop of your choice a call for more information.

Keep in mind that cannabis consumption is still illegal on public property and within publically viewable spaces. Many tourists often assume it’s acceptable to smoke in public places like streets and sidewalks where they are in fact in danger of legal prosecution.

Whether you’re in smoke-friendly accommodations or in need of edibles and other smokeless items, there are a few questions you’ll want to ask your budtender before making a purchase. We recommend starting with your desired effects--are you looking for something relaxing or sleepy, maybe something uplifting or energetic? We find that many recreational purchasers are consuming cannabis medicinally. While your budtender will not legally be able to give you medical advice, they will be able to point you in the direction of a wide variety of products from edible to topical.

E-bike tour guide pedals Yellowstone, Gardiner rides

BILLINGS – In the winter, Jay O’Connor used to feed 55 horses that in the summer provided horseback rides for fishing or hunting guests.

Now O’Connor owns 40 e-bikes that he parks in the garage for the winter and ignores.

As the owner of Big Sky Ebike Tours and Rentals in Gardiner since 2020, O’Connor said he’s “living the dream” guiding cycling tours in and around Yellowstone National Park. After all, where else can cyclists possibly see bison, elk, bighorn sheep, bears, foxes, coyotes, deer and a variety of hot pools, fumaroles and geysers in one trip, not to mention spectacular views of the surrounding mountains?

O’Connor’s guided rides inside Yellowstone include a 17-mile trip around the base of Bunsen Peak on a gravel service road closed to public vehicles. From Old Faithful, his Geyser Basin Tour pedals to Morning Glory Pool along the Firehole River and then on to Biscuit Basin. Shuttling the bikes he can then skip on to Firehole Lake Drive and ride Fountain Freight Road to Grand Prismatic Spring.

“I don’t do anything on the roads at all,” he said, instead focusing on getting his guests away from crowds.

Last weekend, with the 50 miles of highway from Mammoth Hot Springs to West Yellowstone open to bicycle traffic only, O’Connor was leading tours from Mammoth to Norris Geyser Basin, a 38-mile round trip.

Outside the park, one of his most popular tours travels down the Old Yellowstone Trail to the red-colored rock uplift of Devils Slide and on to Yankee Jim Canyon where the Yellowstone River is forced into a narrow gorge. The return ride stops at Yellowstone Hot Springs for a soothing soak.

“That’s a really popular ride for us because there is so much wildlife in the basin,” O’Connor said.

Costs range from $175 for the Bunsen Peak ride to $275 for the Geyser Basin tour. Four people is the minimum for a tour, otherwise an additional fee is tacked on. Bike rentals are $50 an hour to $100 for a full day.

Up and down

Much like the trails and roads he rides, O’Connor’s business has seen some ups and downs since it was launched.

Opening during the COVID pandemic was a “kick in the teeth,” but then participation in outdoor activities grew because indoor venues were closed. That inaugural year was followed by a solid summer of growth before the historic 2022 flood. The raging waters of the Gardner and Yellowstone rivers washed out the nearby North Entrance road to Yellowstone. Gardiner businesses were suddenly isolated at a dead end. Last year, tours rebounded after the route was reopened, and so far this year O’Connor is quickly filling his summer tours.

“My primary demographic is families and people over the age of 40,” he said.

Feeling young again

E-bikes are also a personal choice for O’Connor. He had a hip replacement last year and was still able to pedal 20 miles a day with the motorized assistance the cycles provide. His first ride on an e-bike made him feel like he was 20 again, propelling him to start the tour and rental service.

“This business wouldn’t work with a traditional bike,” he said.

That’s because when touring, he uses a microphone that connects to earbuds each rider wears. This way he can tell his tour group what power level of assistance he’s at and what gear the cycle is in, so everyone stays at relatively the same pace.

On traditional bicycles, the group would likely be more spread out depending on the rider’s ability, or lack thereof.

Most of O’Connor’s tours are under 25 miles, so the bikes’ batteries last for the entire ride. On longer trips, like in the spring when he goes from Mammoth to Norris and back, he carries an extra battery.

On one of those spring rides into the park, O’Connor came around a corner to find a newly awakened black bear only 10 feet off the road.

“He was groggy,” he said. “He must have just crawled out of hibernation.”

Rather than fleeing from the pack of riders, the bear ambled over to a boulder and curled up for a nap. That’s not something most bike riders will encounter, providing a charge unlike the one e-bikers may typically need.

The truth about Gigs, Gs and other internet marketing jargon

My phone runs on 5G. I also just saw a bunch of ads about “10G”. Is it twice as fast?
