Daintree Rainforest & Cape Tribulation Full Day Tour

Daintree Rainforest Tours - MT Alexander Lookout

You don't just get one World Heritage listed rainforest site for your money, you get two on this small group Daintree Rainforest tour with only 14 guests departing from Port Douglas!

Just imagine visiting a place that has escaped and untouched by the crazy world of urban development. This is God's country in Far North Queensland, Australia.

As you walk around the  Daintree Rainforest  and Cape Tribulation you'll feel like you have just stumbled upon the Jurassic Park film set. This natural extravaganza oasis goes back over 135 million years and at times one almost expects a dinosaur to appear.

Its age makes it the oldest tropical lowland rainforests on earth.  That's some big boast!  Much of the Daintree Rainforest and Cape Tribulation still remains undiscovered by modern man and so continues to exist like it has done since the beginning of its time.

Education comes alive as your tour guide unravels the history of Daintree Rainforest and Cape Tribulation as the tour unfolds at several stop points to really show off the wonders of this magical place.

This tour is ideal for families (children won’t even know they’re learning they’ll be having too much fun) and for anybody wanting to see how our world looked millions of years ago and understand the ecosystem of this fragile area.

Immerse yourself in the luxuriant foliage as vines drape down to the forest floor – very tempting to swing on them et al Tarzan.  Stand under ancient fern leaves spreading like giant umbrellas.

You can almost tangibly feel the energy as every tendril and stem fights to reach the light and the moisture of the rainforest canopy.  This tumbling foliage fills 1,200 sq. km and is the largest rainforest area on the Australian continent.

Port Douglas Cape Tribulation and Daintree Rainforest Tours

The forward thinking so called hippies of the eighties were the initial saviors of the now world Heritage Cape Tribulation and Daintree Rainforests as they recognized early on the extreme eco value of the regions rare and highly endangered and somewhat pre-historic animals and ancient rainforest trees that needed to be preserved for future generations to come. They fought the Government who just wanted to make a short term living out of wood chipping these rainforests to the ground and they fought the bulldozers and the men that wanted to destroy this magnificent wild region.

Today people from all over the world come to Port Douglas to see these world re-known rainforests and the creatures that live here. Scientists, Archeologists, Ornithologists and every other oligist visits this area as the rainforests are still hiding lots of medicines that can help to cure cancer and other illnesses and they are still discovering bird species, insect species and lots of other plants and flora and fauna never seen before.

Tourists now flock to see the beauty of the Daintree and Cape Tribulation rainforests and in doing so they are helping to preserve these rainforests and they are providing Australia with a lot more currency than the short term thinking of the Australian Government and their wood chipping plans. Tourists can canoe in the pristine rivers and kayak along the rugged coastline to snorkel of islands that lay just off shore. They can wander along the boardwalks and see wildlife that does not exist in other parts of the world and they can swim under pure waterfalls and wander the deserted rainforest lined beaches.

If you were thinking about a private charter for your group to visit the Daintree and Cape Tribulation Rainforests from Port Douglas then please give us a call and we can put it all together for you as we are locals and we know all the secrets of the Daintree and Cape Tribulation region. Please call us on 07 4059 59 59 during business hours and we will be pleased to assist.

Make your reservation here on line or call us for more information during business hours on 07 4059 5959 . Should you wish to change the days that you have booked your Cape Tribulation and Daintree Rainforest tour just make sure you let us know at least 48-72 hours before the date of travel to ensure availability for your new date.

“ Lisa Bakker “ We just had a fantastic time yesterday with Ben, our tour guide. We learnt so much, laughed a lot, soaked up the beauty of the Daintree, met local characters, one who showed us crocs from his boat. It was like visiting an old friend who’s showing you around the local area. The best tourism is when you feel like you’re an interim part of the community and Ben did just that! 1 Day Cape Tribulation and Rainforest Tour with Port Douglas Itinerary

For a slice of both beach and rainforest action, join us on this one-day tour of Cape Tribulation , where the Daintree Rainforest meets the Great Barrier Reef. Throughout the day, we’ll make sure you visit all the best spots, including picturesque swimming holes, pristine beaches, and ancient rainforests.

We’ll start the day with a photo stop at Rex Lookout to check out the amazing views of the ocean and Cape Tribulation. We continue the trip to Port Douglas , where we’ll go for a walk, a refreshing dip and morning tea at the 4-mile long beach. Afterwards, we’ll take you to see some of Cape Tribulation’s oldest residents – the saltwater crocodile . We’ll jump on board a wildlife spotting boat to cruise down the Daintree River and learn about their unique habitat and history, seeing them up close in person. Sometimes we do this activity in the afternoon depending on the tide – we want it to be low so that the crocs are visible on the riverbanks!

Afterwards, we’ll land on the other side of the Daintree River and wander through some of the oldest rainforests in the world. Along the way, you might spot a cassowary or two, as well as other fascinating native species. Be in awe of the beauty and diversity of the Daintree, one of the most complex ecosystems on Earth. We head up to Alexandra Lookout for some of the best views in the area.

Lunch is at PKs Jungle Village , where you can feast in the gorgeous surrounds of the jungle. Having relaxed and refuelled, we venture deeper into the rainforest for a guided bushwalk to a secluded location, ready for a swim in a freshwater creek. Have fun on the slide or rope swing as you splash around our own private waterhole! Your guide will have plenty of secrets to share about the biology and history of the area as you explore deep into the dense rainforest.

To finish the day, we’ll meander back to Cairns, keeping our eyes peeled for Cassowaries . On the way back we make a couple of stops to marvel at the view from incredible lookout points, catching the last glimpse of Cape Tribulation.

Tours To The Daintree From Port Douglas

cape tribulation and daintree tour from port douglas

The Daintree Rainforest is a poplar destination for day trips from Port Douglas. Many Daintree tours offer accommodation transfers from Port Douglas.

The journey to Mossman takes you through green canefields with rainforest clad mountains as the backdrop.

Mossman, is a picturesque little township nestled at the foot of the mountains.

The region's sugar capital the Mossman Central Mill throbs and hums its way through the sugar cane crushing season (June – October). Explore the country stores and historic pubs along the wide tree-lined main street.

Five minutes west of Mossman you will discover Mossman Gorge, a very accessible and scenic section of the World Heritage listed Daintree National Park.

Mossman is located 20km from Port Douglas.

The drive from Mossman to the Daintree Village & Ferry winds through farmland and tropical vegetation with a beautiful mountain backdrop. Daintree was originally a settlement for timber-cutters and, until the road was completed in 1933, only accessible by river.

Cross the Daintree River by ferry and travel north into the best of the Daintree - the Reef and Rainforest Coast.

The drive over the Alexander range is a stunning scenic rainforest drive and one of the most spectacular in the world - it has a sympathetic conservation design and its meandering nature enhances the ecotourism experience.

As you descend from the look-out there are several glimpses of views of the Daintree coastline.

The Cow Bay area has been classified as Outstanding Cassowary Habitat Zone by Corme and Moore (1993). In the lowlands and swamps of western Cow Bay the population density is as high as the best habitats in Mission Beach.

All the roads seen from the main road are cul-de-sacs servicing freehold blocks of land.

In the wet season Cooper Creek can be a barrier to cars, as the causeway may flood in heavy rain. In a small car do not try and cross the causeway until the depth of the water on the causeway drops to 0.2 metres. You need to have lots of patience as it is possible to be held up here for several hours if there are heavy rains in the area.

Noahs Range is the last range before you reach the Cape Tribulation area.
